We haven't done a podcast this week, so I am offering you a podcast we recorded on January 25th, after we had that big snow storm. It's short, and I should have posted it online Wednesday, but this week has been a very busy week that has taken up a lot of my attention and time...Anyway, we never got to use this one because we recorded TWO Interviews in the following days, with Ken Abramowitz and Julian Hagman, which were published online, leaving this as one of our "reserve" shows that I hold onto for occasions when we don't record - like this week. Some of the topics we mention/discuss here:Somalia, Minneapolis, Fraud, Democrats, Welfare Cheats, Dan Bongino, FBI, Hannity, Whistleblowers, Gavin Newsome, Railroad to nowhere, DeBlasio, Infrastructure, George Floyd Riots, Derek Chauvin, Civil Rights, Election Integrity, Frey, Walz, Anti-Gunners, Opposition to Self-Defense, Don Lemon, Self-Defense for Seniors, *_*_*_*LEGAL STUFF:All opinions expressed in this show are the personal opinions of the people expressing them, based on facts as they are known to or interpreted by the speaker, and are not necessarily the opinion of, or endorsed by, either the Platform(s) on which this show is streaming, or the Hosts or Guests - BUT are Protected Speech under the First Amendment to our Constitution. We urge everyone to do their own research for verification. If we are ever wrong, we will apologize in a future episode. Our website holds the 7 most recent episodes we've published, as well as links to platforms where all our episodes are published, so you can find any and all of our shows. We also have links to Stuff, things we think are of interest, and more. Jared Knott is an international bestselling author, speaker, frequent podcast guest, and history aficionado. He has had numerous articles published in the Mensa Bulletin and in graduate school textbooks on subjects ranging from Supreme Court Reform to Arctic Exploration. He was a decorated combat infantry officer in Vietnam in the First Air Cavalry Division. In his civilian career, he has served as a vice president of sales & marketing and marketing director in the home improvement industry. His first book, Tiny Blunders/Big Disasters: Thirty-Nine Mistakes That Changed the World Forever is an international bestseller. A father of five, he lives in the Atlanta area with his wife, Kathryn. We start the podcast speaking with Jared about the current Iranian conflict, and the recent State of the Union address. We then move on to Jared's books:The Impact of Tiny Mistakes on Major Events: Lessons from HistorySmall blunders have led to monumental outcomes in history. In history, it's often the grand decisions and actions that capture our attention. However, what about the seemingly insignificant mistakes that have changed the course of events? In his books, Jared Knott delves into the fascinating world of tiny blunders that led to significant disasters and breakthroughs. Understanding these can provide valuable insights into decision-making today. Some of the Blunders in his books (which he addresses in this podcast) include the stupid mistakes that led to the Fall of Constantinople, and the sinking of The Bismarck. He then touches upon: The Power of Small MistakesSmall mistakes can have disproportionately large consequences, a phenomenon evident in many historical events, where a minor error precipitated significant changes. A prime example is the case of Alexander Fleming, whose untidy laboratory practices led to the discovery of penicillin. The Butterfly Effect in PoliticsMistakes aren't just limited to science; they also play a crucial role in politics. The 2000 U.S. presidential election is an example of how a small design error on a ballot changed the course of history. This example underscores how a single, seemingly minor design choice can have catastrophic consequences, highlighting the importance of clarity and precision in decision-making. Tiny Oversights Small mistakes can lead to disastrous consequences, as seen in how an exposed piece of tape led to the Watergate scandal and its impact on the Presidency of Richard Nixon.Jared also talks about how understanding the impact of tiny mistakes in history can inform our decision-making processes today.- Embrace Flexibility- Prioritize Clarity- Learn from HistoryTiny mistakes can lead to monumental changes, as illustrated by historical events in science, politics, and warfare. Recognizing the power of these mistakes can help us navigate our own decision-making processes more effectively. Right now we have to consider how the blunder of how Democrats acted during the SOTU may affect the midterm elections...You can find Jared's books on his website:https://www.tinyblundersbigdisasters.com/Like and Share the episode, and SUBSCRIBE to the Podcast! If you have a moment, please Rate the show: it helps beat the Algorithm so more people can find us.*_*_*_*LEGAL STUFF:All opinions expressed in this show are the personal opinions of the people expressing them, based on facts as they are known to or interpreted by the speaker, and are not necessarily the opinion of, or endorsed by, either the Platform(s) on which this show is streaming, or the Hosts or Guests - BUT are Protected Speech under the First Amendment to our Constitution. The podcast begins with a warm welcome me; then I introduce our scheduled guest, Taki Theodoracopulos, author of "The Last Alpha Male, the Amorous Pursuits of a Poor Little Greek Boy." Despite technical difficulties preventing Taki’s appearance, the hosts express excitement about his fascinating backstory, hinting at his privileged upbringing. The hosts draw parallels between Taki and the "world’s most interesting man" from a popular commercial, emphasizing the intrigue surrounding his life experiences and relationships. As the conversation shifts, Michael shares a humorous personal story about dealing with water issues in his basement caused by a malfunctioning dryer. The exchange highlights the everyday challenges we all face. The podcast then transitions into a serious discussion about the Epstein files and their implications in the political arena. We delve into the complexities of public perception, especially concerning high-profile figures like Donald Trump. The sheer volume of documents released—millions of pages—does not equate to guilt for those mentioned, we emphasize the need for careful analysis over sensationalism. This underscores the importance of understanding the context behind political narratives. We then touch on positive news regarding salary increases outpacing inflation, a rare occurrence in today’s economy. There are positive implications of this for the middle class. We then draw attention to the resurgence of trade schools as viable paths for education and employment. This highlights a shift in societal values, suggesting that practical skills may offer more stability than traditional college degrees in the current landscape. We then address the gender identity, particularly in relation to recent events involving trans individuals. Michael quotes Kevin Sorbo, emphasizing the necessity of addressing mental health in discussions about gender dysphoria. We advocate for a balanced approach to these discussions, advocating for healing rather than affirmation of dysphoria. The episode encapsulates a variety of themes that resonate deeply in today’s world. Unmasking Corruption in New York's Home Care System: A Deep Dive into the CDPAP ControversyWe speak with Julian Hagman, Chief Operating Officer of Caring Professionals. He sheds light on the intricacies and challenges of New York’s Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Program (CDPAP), revealing deep-rooted issues of corruption and mismanagement that have far-reaching implications for the elderly and disabled communities in the state.Julian introduces CDPAP, a program designed to allow consumers to hire personal assistants of their choice, primarily serving elderly and disabled populations. With over 32 years of experience in the industry, Julian emphasizes the importance of continuity of care. He explains that the program should provide a seamless service experience, minimizing gaps that could disrupt care for vulnerable individuals. The conversation takes a critical turn as Julian discusses the alarming growth of CDPAP and the state's legislative response. Despite the program's success, the state government, led by Governor Kathy Hochul, opted to move towards a Request for Proposal (RFP) process for selecting a statewide fiscal intermediary. This shift not only sidelined local providers but also opened the door for out-of-state companies, namely Public Partnerships LLC (PPL), to dominate the market.Julian explains that the RFP process was flawed, as it required bidders to have operational experience in other states, while specifically excluding New York's own providers. This decision raised eyebrows, especially considering that the winning bid went to an out-of-state company, thereby diverting funds away from local communities. Julian's frustration is palpable as he notes the lack of transparency and communication from the state regarding these significant changes.Julian goes on to reveal shocking details about the apparent collusion between PPL and state officials. With evidence of pre-bid meetings between the Medicaid director and PPL, and a draft budget naming PPL as the chosen intermediary, it becomes clear that the RFP process was compromised. Julian's ongoing lawsuit against PPL aims to uncover these truths, highlighting the urgent need for accountability in how taxpayer money is managed. The fallout from these decisions has been severe. Julian notes that many consumers lost their caregivers due to the chaotic rollout of PPL’s services, forcing them into higher acuity care levels that were not their preference. This shift contradicts federal mandates for consumer choice, putting vulnerable populations at further risk.Julian passionately advocates for the need for reform within the CDPAP system, urging the state to implement guardrails to prevent fraud and protect consumers. His commitment to exposing corruption reflects a broader call to action for stakeholders to demand better governance and transparency in the home care sector. The conversation reveals a troubling narrative about the future of home care in New York. As local providers face exclusion and consumers experience diminished choices, the need for reform is more pressing than ever. Key takeaways from this episode include the importance of local provider engagement, the necessity for transparent governance, and the vital need for advocacy in protecting the rights of the elderly and disabled.Like and Share the episode; and SUBSCRIBE to the Podcast!Visit our website to watch more episodes:https://www.theviewfromhere-behindenemylines.net/*_*_*_*LEGAL STUFF:All opinions expressed in this show are the personal opinions of the people expressing them, based on facts as they are known to or interpreted by the speaker, and are not necessarily the opinion of, or endorsed by, either the Platform(s) on which this show is streaming, or the Hosts or Guests - BUT are Protected Speech under the First Amendment to our Constitution.
