Welcome to the Watch Floor. I'm Sarah Adams. Today we're talking about Adam Homily. If you haven't heard about him, which you probably should have by now, this is the Democratic nominee running for Congress in New Jersey's 12th congressional district. And if you have heard about him, you know this is no fluffy political piece today. So the other interesting thing is when we talk about this congressional district, it includes Canberra, New Jersey, that matters, because that's the home of Todd Beamer, right? The passenger from United Flight 93 who said, let's roll. A hero among heroes, as well as his other plane mates who chipped in and supported this effort to bring down a plane again, a plane that was scheduled to go into, of all places, the U.S. capitol building. Something nobody ever talks about or explains. They stopped that plane from ramming into the U.S. capitol. Could you imagine the imagery of that? I'm serious. Today we're talking about the U.S. capitol and. And who exactly should be allowed in that building? Now, the voters of this district, who are very frustrating to me, are attempting to send a man to Congress who volunteered in bosnia in the 1990s for the benevolence International Foundation. Going forward, I'm just calling it BIF because that's a lot to say. This organization, as many know, was later designated by the US treasury for terrorism. Enlisted by the United nations as being associated with, of course, Al Qaeda. This is one of Al Qaeda's many front organizations. So that in itself is the issue. Now, I want to be clear from the start, Hamili has never been charged with terrorism, which I would argue he probably should have been. He. He served in the US Military. He was a combat surgeon. He was credited for saving lives, including the life of Senator Tammy Duckworth in Iraq. But public service later in life does not erase the fact you are a national security problem. In this case, we're not talking about someone who put out a bad tweet. We're not talking about some youthful politics. We are talking about a man that in the 1990s, had a documented relationship with the blind Sheikh, Omar Abdel Al Rahman. And then, going forward, even decide to go volunteer with BIF in Bosnia at the exact moment. Bosnia was the central jihadist movement in the entire world, right? If you want to do commit jihad, you went to Bosnia. It was black and white. There's no gray here. So this is not normal. A normal person in the 1990s didn't jump into some pipeline to jihad in Bosnia, right? That is not what the rest of us did in the 90s. We poofed up our hair and wore bad clothes. And the blind sheikh isn't some misunderstood cleric. He was convicted in 1995 for a seditious conspiracy tied to plots against murder, multiple landmarks in New York. His followers, as many know, are linked to the 1993 World Trade center bombing. And this was One of the most important prosecutions prior to 911 occurring, and as we've told many people during the attack on us in Benghazi in 2012, that operation was a kidnapping plot against Ambassador Stevens to get a number of tapes terrorists released. Of course, one of the terrorists they were planning to ask for was the Blind Shik. He got asked for pretty much anytime an American got kidnapped overseas. Plenty Americans were kidnapped solely to try to release the Blind Sheik. Between China's military exercises, the Iran conflict, Cuba's economic demise, and the war in Ukraine, the that keeps shifting week by week. The last few months has been a whirlwind. The global threat landscape is completely flooded with information. Knowing where to turn, let alone what to trust, is harder than ever. Luckily, there's a solution. And in it, it focuses on the fact that, look, the Kremlin's blaming Ukraine for terrorism while conversely ignoring the number of ISIS plots that are being directed inside of Russia. It's just showing the color contrast of the way the Kremlin is using the term terrorism. Then if we pull another source, we can go with the Irish Independent. So this leans right. So they focus in their article on Russia's massive retaliation strikes inside Ukraine. Right. So it doesn't really discuss terrorism in the way Russia's trying to use it, but it picks another angle. So, same story, but they both have very different framing of the issue. And then underneath both, if you're an analyst, you're looking at something completely different. So I'd be thinking, is Russia setting the groundwork to justify some sort of massive escalation in response to these recent successes Ukraine has had. We all have a different question when we're looking at the news, and lots of times we're looking at the news. To help us answer those questions. He translated for him, and he testified literally, on behalf of this terrorist in his trial. So we're not talking about a very distant connection. Okay? So this alone deserves scrutiny. Then we bring up Bosnia. Now, this is the part that's crazy, and I can't believe anyone's okay with this. So in 1994, Hamui, again, as we said, volunteered with BIF. At the time, Bosnia was this magnet for all the foreign fighters, terrorist facilitators, extremist charities, weapons networks, illicit money flows, and this giant jihadist infrastructure. This was the era when Al Qaeda was still kind of building out its global architecture. And when you talk about Al Qaeda, if you don't understand the group, it's like the brand name isn't what it's important. It's the network. You're not going to, like, show up at a location and see a sign that says al Qaeda office. They work through so many fronts, being charities, humanitarian aid organizations, medical aid outlets. They use relief convoys, they take legitimate suffering, and they create cover for their recruitment, their logistics, their finance, and most concerning, their access. And even the UN has put out that BIF was associated not only with Al Qaeda, but with Osama bin Laden. And, yes, Osama's long and gone, but as we know well, his sons are leading the organization, and they're plotting again against the US Homeland. So when people say something like, well, he was only delivering medical supplies, that's exactly the line the terrorists want you to say, right? That's what cover is. That is put in place to fool you. And so for anyone who says that, roll your eyes at them. Cuz this isn't some sort fantasy land. That's literally terrorist tradecraft, and you shall learn it instead of parroting the propaganda that comes out from it. So when it comes to terrorists, you can't separate the humanitarian wrapper they use to make themselves look pretty from the operational network that is the structure behind the actual plotting and attacks right there. It's just two sides of the same coin. They're nothing separate at all. And now this is where we talk about the US Military. So we have someone who volunteered for an organization that's cover for Al Qaeda. He has a documented relationship with the blind Sheikh, and they still allowed him to join the US Military. This is a massive vetting problem. I don't care what party you're in, I don't care what your politics are. If you joined, supported, volunteered, worked for, or embedded yourself inside of a terrorist network that should follow you through your entire life. When it comes to national security, vetting. Not because people can't change. Because access matters. Never forget that access is what we care about here. So clearly the US military missed something here or it accepted something that it never should have accepted. Either way, this has to be a lesson. We spent years lowering the bar, explaining things away, pretending ideological histories don't matter, and hoping people would literally age out of radical networks that just does not occur. That is not how it works in the real world whatsoever. Terrorist movements aren't college clubs. They're not like simple activist phases. They're not mistakes you brush off as something when someone later gets credentials. I can tell you there's lots of doctors. There's lots of engineers. It just doesn't happen. This is something they believe in with their entire being. In a lot of cases, they are raised to think and believe this way like it is not changing anytime soon. So even the former players play this game, right? We have Al Qaeda's old cleric, Abu Hafsa Martani. Oh yeah. He isn't connected at all to Al Qaeda anymore. He's not. You might want to look at who he's talking to. You being played. These people understand how to rebrand, how to reposition, and most importantly, how to deceive. They are the experts at deception. Nobody does it better in the entire world. I don't care who who you are. I don't care if you're some super spy and think you're the greatest. Al Qaeda is literally better than you. I promise you. They understand patience again. They understand the importance of access. They understand how Western systems forgive and fail to remember. You do not play with terrorists. You will get burned. There is no maybe on that. Now let's move to Congress. If Hamawe wins in November, Congress has options. Now they may choose not to use them because Congress is usually weak when courage is required. Nobody's going to argue that. But there are options that exist. So Article 1, Section 5 of the Constitution says each House is the judge of the elections, returns and qualifications of its own members. Historically, Congress has used this power to examine whether members elected should be seated. It is rare, but it has happened where they have chosen not to seat members of Congress. We're going to walk through a few of those examples to show you, you know, what were the circumstances. So the first case goes all the way back to 1899, and it was Brigham Roberts from Utah. So he was elected to the House, but the House refused to seat him because he was involved in polygamy. Another example was Victor Berger from Wisconsin. So he was elected, but during World War I, he was literally convicted under the Espionage Act, I kid you not. And still got elected. So of course, of course they refused to seat him. Voters again sent him back and they refused to seat him again. That is the Congress we deserve to have. Then there's Adam Clayton Powell. So in 1967, the house excluded him over misconduct allegations, but then he actually ended up bringing this to the Supreme Court. And now this is where we have a bit of a hiccup. So the Supreme Court ruled in Powell vs McCoy Cormac that Congress could not exclude a duly elected member who met the Constitution's basic qualifications. So they went to the basic qualifications instead of actually the article I read to you, which was interesting. But of course that case matters because it did go to the Supreme Court. So what they said is you might not like this person, but you can't refuse to seat him because he meets the qualifications you. Have you ever looked at these qualifications? They're literally age, citizenship and state residency. That's it. That is why we have so many damn losers in Congress, I kid you not. Because that is all that is required to sit in one of those seats. Now, saying all that, it does not mean Congress is powerless. We all know we can investigate. It seems to be all they do. They can delay and refer questions to committee. It can examine whether there is some sort of constitutional disqualification issue. It can demand records. It can hold, of course, hearings. And it can force the truth to come out into the daylight. And after a member gets seated, even though I'm hoping this fool never gets seated, the House can expel a member with a 2/3 vote. Again, something they don't do often. But it's important to know that they do have the stick at their disposal. So the cleanest constitutional route is investigate, expose, and if warranted, which it is, expel. Will they do it? Probably not. Because our Congress is filled with all these people who act Very brave in front of cable news, but they're very weak when it comes to actually defending the institution of Congress itself. We see it time and time again, but there are some things that must be a red line, right? You have to have some red lines in any institution. And members of Al Qaeda support networks should never be seated as members of Congress. I don't even feel this should be up for debate. That should be a red line in our government and across the entire American population. People who built relationships literally with the blind shake should not be waved through because oh, years have passed, we forgot. People who volunteered along Al Qaeda associates in literal war zones should not be placed inside of classified briefings, be a part of our defense conversations, have any say in foreign affairs discussions, or be involved in any way in our homeland security decision making. This is not about religion, it's not about ethnicity. This is not some sort of political disagreement. This isn't Republican versus Democrat or right verse left. This is about terrorism and allowing a member of a terrorist group to have again, access after 9 11, we really should have learned something. So Todd Beamer did not have the luxury of pretending in real time that Al Qaeda was theoretical or it was just a thought. He had to deal with their network inside of his plane. It was there in his face, right? They had to make a real time decision. They fought back with no staff, no committees, no hearings, no five minute rules, no escape routes. And they literally saved the lives of members of Congress and their staff. No one's ever truthful about that. They stopped that plane from hitting you. Congress. Congress has a lot more tools at its disposal than Todd Beamer had. The question is, do they even have 1% of his courage? Time will tell. Thanks for being here today on the watch floor.
