Baseball: Gary recaps his son’s baseball game, in which they lost after allowing a big inning.

Scott Shaffer: WNEP’s own Talkback 16 host was providing his own talkback to game officials from the stands during a high school boys basketball game Brian attended on Wednesday night.

The Olympics: Brian and the family watched some Olympics coverage this weekend. Brian’s 10-year-old son is suddenly an expert on pairs figure skating. “Nailed it,” he said, after watching one routine.

* Meanwhile, an American curler looks like every girl you’d ever meet at a University of Scranton party in the late ‘90s.

Daytona 500: Brian tricked his children into watching most of the Daytona 500. The winner, Tyler Reddick, drove a Toyota Camry. Sadly, there was no “Crank It Up” during the race.

IMG Fined: The Florida-based sports academy is being fined $1.7M for accepting fees linked to Mexican drug cartels. Does Gary’s son play against IMG?

Past Prime: “Iron” Mike Tyson, 59, and Floyd Mayweather, 48, are apparently going to fight in April. Are you interested in seeing two past their prime fighters enter the ring against one another? Also, Rhonda Rousey, who has been out of MMA for a decade, will fight Gina Carano in May as part of Jake Paul’s Most Valuable Promotions event.

Villains: Brian’s latest read, Chuck Klosterman’s I Wear The Black Hat, involves the idea of villainy. And it is especially relevant in the wake of the Epstein files being released.

The Thaw: Temperatures hit nearly 50 this week in Northeast Pennsylvania.

At The Movies: Brian watched Singles (1992) and Death Wish (1974) this past weekend.

It was the first Charles Bronson movie Brian ever watched and Bronson was as bad as expected. The premise was interesting, and it’s always fun to see 1970s New York City.

RIP:

Robert Duvall: The legendary actor died this week. Duvall, who made his feature film debut portraying Boo Radley in To Kill a Mockingbird (1962), went on to star in film classics such as M*A*S*H (1970), The Godfather (1972) and Apocolypse Now (1979). He won an Academy Award for Best Actor for Tender Mercies (1983), and received an Emmy nomination for his role in the CBS miniseries Lonesome Dove (1989).

Brian remembers his connection to Robert Duvall:

Rev. Jesse Jackson: The two-time presidential candidate and civil rights leaders, died this past week. Brian remembers him running for president in 1984 and 1988. He also remembers him fathering a child with a CNN staffer in 1999.
