I also. I also. It's so funny, dude, because I watched the Entourage movie this past weekend. I just. Free. I just was like. I was just like going down the rabbit hole. I'm like, you know what? Meeting the guys. I'm gonna. I'm gonna watch the movie on the plane. I. In a four. And that was your comeback. That's when you lost all the weight.

I was pretty.

One of the scenes was when Piven was like. Ari was like, whatever when you guys were pitching the movie or he needed more funding of the movie. It was a. It was a. It was a shot to you losing all this weight. And I was like, yes, that's my. That's my guy.

So it's funny how the jokes change and. And sport. And teaser for all of you out there. We did a great episode with Kevin Dillon and Kevin Connelly, and that one is coming soon. We're just putting a bow on it. And that one's coming, and that one's going to be a good. But it's funny. And you could ask Doug Ellen this. With the Entourage movie, I got into really, really good shape. I used to get a lot of fat jokes for eight years, seven years on the show. Then season eight, I got in good shape and Doug was mad because now I have to write a whole new. I have to figure out new, like, skinny jokes.

Yeah, you know, I'm married. To a birth worker. My wife is a doula, so she unfortunately, fortunately and unfortunately got called into a birth. So I ended up solo dadding a little bit yesterday. But it was great because I didn't.

See the boys because it's a little selfish by Brie, but we'll let it pass.

No, I thought it was cool. Another kid was born my birthday.

So there's, there's a, A spirit there. But also, I'm coming off of Vegas, Matt. I'm coming off of Vegas. So I, you know, we, we did. We did the episode with Connelly and Dylan, and then a couple of weeks back, I was in LA because we shot a great, A great commercial for Visa Cash app Shout out to getting our sponsor. And Matt, it had vibes of Coachella, and I'd say it's Coachella meets a little Tech meets Kentucky Derby 1.

Real quick, when was the last time you've been to Coachella? Because I went to Coachella last year. I went to the.

Dude, I went to a, the. After the Neon Carnival party.

I, I, I, I'm literally picturing F1 and all the videos that I'm seeing online, and I'm picturing the Neon Carnival. And it is. I mean, in Neon Carnival, you got people dressed up in all weird sorts of shit.

Well, it got off to a great start because I get to my hotel room and I open up all the curtains and the track is right in the middle of Vegas. It's not off in the middle of the desert or a few miles. It's on the Strip. So I open my window and I see the track and I see who.

[Brady Quinn]

Right.

They were filming the Brad Pitt movie the night before the race. So until three in the morning, there's race cars going around and around the track. So you get there, and this is what I mean. The Access. Now, I know people will say, well, you went there with, you know, V car, so you had amazing access. There was more people in the garages than I thought in, like, the general population area. We get to the garage, you walk right by the car. There's one rule when you're in the garage. In the pit crew, there's this hub of computers and screens. You cannot take any video, pictures, anything, because I think that's all the trade secrets. That's. That's team strategy. That would be like in football, getting the team's, you know, first 15 scripted plays. It's. It's just the big. No, no. Anything else, though, Matt, you could do. The drivers are just walking around.

[Brady Quinn]

So, like, I feel like with F1, maybe their pitch and their play is. What you're talking about is like, let's make this a spectacle. The Access guys are going to. It's quick, but it's also like. It's a show. It's like, it's a show. Like you said, it is a show. You're a movie. You're in a party. And I feel like that's kind of the angle they're pushing. It feels like is what you're.

Well, wait till you hear this next part. So we go into the garage. Me, Kevin Dillon, Travis Bennett, we meet the drivers, and then you just start watching the pit crew practice. They practice the tire change. I have a great video of it, and they're timing it, and if it's off, they start again. It's like they're. They're warming up, so that all happens. Then we take a quick break. We go over to the Red Bull Reach Energy Station, which. That's the party. That's just a place to watch people at Red Bull. Vodkas are flowing. So then we go back out to the grid, which is where they start, and they let all these people on. This is moments before the race. There's 500 people walking the racetrack. And I'm walking. I start noticing. I'm like, this is the celebrity row. It's. Dylan reconnected with Axl Rose. They were buddies from back in the day, Cedric the Entertainer. I bumped it. My star moment. I bumped into Rory McIlroy, and he actually looked at me and opened up for a hug. So I gave a big hug to Rory McElroy. It just was an insane.

Isn't that a great feeling when you're like. You're like, oh, he. He recognized me.

Oh, for sure.

And I know many of you might listen like, oh, yeah, that's A real nice version. That's not what everyone could do. I'm telling you. You could get the access. He's very. He's very one of a kind, for sure. And I walked away being like, he was as cool and as awesome as I was. I would hope he was going to be, you know, obviously, because you just. You put in with the character and just whatever. How was it with him, this, that, this past weekend.

It's been incredible. I, for years, have almost been the straight man to him. Setting him up. I try to think of it like a great point guard, and I have this triple threat, all NBA player, and my job is to just get him the ball in the spots he likes. And one thing I know is I know where Dylan likes to score. So I now for three weeks between the shoot, the pod and going to Vegas. That's why I also started thinking of the reboot. Like, I guess it could happen because this fucking guy, as far as Johnny, he still has the fastball. I mean, he looks great, he's in shape.

He still got it. When he takes off the glasses and that V carb Crossland goes, we got to get to Vegas, bro. It's the whole crew.

So maybe the reboot. The reboot happened. I kind of buried the lead, though. It's rivalry week in college. Something you got. You showed me at usc because I didn't get to go to college. You showed me, you know, all the statues were wrapped up just in case there's any vandalism. Although you can't vandalize anything in today's day. There's cameras everywhere, but still try. And our throwback three is going to be top three sports. Team rivalry, not athlete, team rivalry. And I feel like we also have one of your former rivals coming on the show today. We have Brady Quinn, who's now your boy, your contemporary. But you guys definitely bumped heads back.

I mean, we still. We still bump heads. We still bump heads all the time. My, my. So the USC's bigger rivalry is not UCLA. It's. It's Notre Dame.

Notre Dame for sure.

Right? One, because it's been. And this isn't disrespect to UCLA, honestly, like, that is just. It's been bigger. It's just a bigger national rivalry. And there's been more at stake when those two play over. Over the course of history. Usc. UCLA is sort of the city of La R Cavalry. There. There's beef there, and it's fun. But for me, when I was playing, it was Notre Dame. And, yeah, I. I still can't stand Notre Dame. And I'll tell Brady that here in a little bit.

I just watched. I watched this week a 13 minute NFL mic'd up Jamis Winston on the Cleveland Browns Instagram handle because they basically said here's James Winston mic'd up for 13 minutes because it's gold or whatever they ha. And I was like I literally watched all 13 minutes of it and I was pissing my pants laughing.

He's the number one. If we're doing a who do you want? Mike. He's draft. He's first overall.

He's the greatest. He's the best character in.

Dude. I played in a blizzard game at New England. Oh 8. I think it was the. Oh. It was the year Brady tore tore his knee because Matt Castle started Chiefs.

And we're playing there in November. I think so actually we had. It was the year we went to the super bowl and almost one we got our ass kicked. I believe on Thanksgiving night by the. By the Eagles and McNabb. And then either the week before or two weeks before, we basically limped into the playoffs, 8 and 8. We went up to New England. It was a Blizzard game. It was. It was when they had Moss and Welker and all that, and welcome. Welker was doing snow angels after he scored. And I remember going there and, you know, we're in Arizona and we go there and half our team is, like, never seen snow. Never seen snow.

And they're from Florida or Texas or. Okay, they just never.

[Brady Quinn]

Yeah, young kids, never been in the snow. And obviously snow games in the NFL happen this time of year, and you'll get them in the playoff, depending on who's in it right there. There's, you know, you can count on probably one to two hand snow games during the NFL season. And I remember I might have been Kurt or a coach. And the minute everyone was, like, dancing in the snow, we were like, we're gonna get our.

Slow ball fight.

[Brady Quinn]

December, okay? Yeah, December 21, 2008. So, yeah, I mean, dude, like, end of the year, basically, we got smoked. I threw, actually played. I was backing up Kurt. I got in. I threw. I threw a. I threw a touchdown to Larry down the sideline, which was pretty cool, but, yeah, real.

[Jerry Ferrara]

So, yeah, that was your only points. 47 to 7. That was your only points.

[Brady Quinn]

What's. Isn't Kevin Hart got a show called Cold as Balls?

[Jerry Ferrara]

Yes.

Let me tell you something. It was cold as balls on the sideline, dude.

So I think you got guys that didn't see snow, but I. And I know Jamis's excitement and enthusiasm was amazing for snow.

That was his first. That was his first ever playing in a snow game.

[Jerry Ferrara]

But I just wonder if you're playing in the Northeast, where it snows quite often, if you're in Buffalo or New England or New York and you're just like, oh, yeah, it's a snow game. Love it. I, I, I, I, I feel like if I were a play, I'd be like, ah, here we. Because it's a whole. It becomes a different game.

[Brady Quinn]

Listen, I think we'd rather. I think the. You'd rather have snow than rain.

[Jerry Ferrara]

Snow's better than rain. I get that.

[Brady Quinn]

You'd rather have snow than wind. Wind as a. It's bad wind. That's why Windy City, Chicago, like, even Buffalo. Buffalo's got a lot of wind. That's why it's like the whole, can your quarterback throw through the wind? I mean, that's a real thing when you're in there, dude, Like Chicago and all that. Like you start to get that wind in that wind tunnel, you're like, I mean it's 20 mile hour winds on game day and it's like, where did this come from? So weather games are always an advantage for offense because you know, like, you.

[Jerry Ferrara]

Know what you want to try to go.

[Brady Quinn]

Well, that's what we always said as an offense. When you go into that, like, hey, the D. We know where we're, we're trying to go the, the D. Like, like obviously your footwear and the slippery and all that kind of stuff. So you always, you have a really big advantage as an offense in weather games now. Rain and all that, where you're slipping and slided, that's like, I mean all.

Bets are kind of awesome.

It's just. Yeah, I mean you got to get lucky. But snow games, snow games are fun. I mean, I wouldn't say it's what we look forward to, that.

No. I'm trying to think of the acting equivalent. The only thing I could say with acting is at least in my career, so often I'm playing opposite of what the season is. I remember doing a movie. We were supposed to be dead of summer and it was November. We're out there in T shirts and shorts and it was 38 degrees. I remember when we did the Sundance episode. There's a shot of us getting off the plane and pullovers and skull caps and all that. And we shot that at Ontario Airport in LA. It was 94 degrees and we were coming off the plane like we just are about to go skiing. So yeah, man. Well, Jamis sold it for sure. Look, the NFL is bananas right now I gotta give a shout out to United because when I went to LA to do all our throwback stuff, I got all my bets in here in Cleveland because I live in the bet state. Shout outs to United for really figuring out plane wi fi because I got on that plane at 1:00. All the bets were in already. We got to 10,000ft. They turned the WI FI on. I ordered a drink. I got out my laptop. I basically started my row. In the row behind me, I started a sports bar. I had the game on. Everyone had the games on. I had my bets going. I don't know. I give shout out for the WI Fi. You could not be a United fed you. Everyone has their own airline. We're all very territorial. The WI FI is on point. It didn't flicker. I was at 10 ADP and it didn't flicker for four hours.

That's just for. That's just for our own internal humor. Is there anything better? Like, so you. You got that. I get that on Saturday afternoon when I fly home. Like, like this weekend I'll be in. I'll be in Ohio for Ohio State, Michigan and.

I get along. I'm connecting through. I'm connecting through Atlanta. So I get that four and a half hour flight which by the way is miserable at 10 o'clock at night. But I just get there. I'm a couple. I'm a couple red wines deep. The group chat is flowing and just talking shit. And then I get to watch college football. So like, I don't fly on Sundays, but I get to fl. Saturdays. I have. I have my, my little, you know, whatever Wi Fi have it on the monitor if there's a TV. And then I have my, my YouTube TV on the app where I'm watching, you know, like NFL Red Zone. I'm watching four games.

Yeah, Red zone.

Sitting by yourself, drinking, watching football with your, with your AirPods in. Talking to your friends is like.

[Jerry Ferrara]

Well, you have to be a red zone guy because you don't have a NFL fandom. Right?

Because you grew up in.

So I went, I went to. I went to. I went to Monday Night Football this week.

Oh, you went to Charge. I was a fun game.

It was great. I was, I was. It's. And I got asked that question when I was there. We were in a box. We were hosted by some cool people and we just had a blast. Took the oldest coal and I'm sitting there. I'm like, this is my third NFL game I've ever been to. Sitting as a. Sitting in the stands watching. I retired. I can name all three. Super Bowl 2007, when the Giants beat Brady in Arizona.

So I was there. Rams, Cardinals playoff game maybe two years ago, maybe three years ago.

Grand super bowl run, though.

[Brady Quinn]

Super bowl run. I was at that game and then this game this week. And I, I would just say this. My. I'm not like a. I probably would lean Rams. I don't know. I'm not. I'm like, I appreciate both. They're in our. They're in our town, you know, whatever. I just walked away. Just more of a Lamar Jackson fan than I already was.

[Jerry Ferrara]

That was your takeaway?

[Brady Quinn]

It just. I just. I know him fairly well from, from college days, from Heisman stuff. He trains in the off season with the, with the same quarterback coach that Cole used to train like. I just crossed paths with him. And he is the best dude. He's awesome. He's just a great dude, a great kid.

Just like kind of what you would expect, like, never has a bad word about anybody. He's just. I walked away thinking like, man, Lamar Jackson's just fun to watch, man. Like, he's just a rare. Like, it's that simple. He's a rare athlete. You know, we. You and I kind of had like Michael Vick, right? Like when I was playing Vic was like the first, like real, like, like a video game.

Lamar is a video game out there, man. And he's just doing it at the highest level against the best athletes in the world. And I was like, dude, like, he's fun and it's Cole's favorite player. I'm just like, he was. He's. He's like, he's worth the ticket to go see, you know what I mean? Like, he's box office. Yeah.

So you bring up. That's a good segue into the last thing I wanted to go to before we get to Brady. You know, he's the front. Lamar is the front runner, I believe at this moment for mvp. I haven't checked the odds in a little bit. He was or still is, and he probably will win it if he stays on this pace and the Ravens continue to win. And he will probably deserve it. They could be his third. However, I think this is the first time I know we maybe sometimes at Game 5, we're like, oh, T.J. watt should be league MVP. Or this running back or this receiver. And it goes away and it flares out because they can't hold up the output to do with an mb, you know, to compete with a quarterback for mvp. This is the first real time. I think there's two running backs and they're probably not going to win, but I think this is the closest we've come since the last non quarterback mvp. And I'm going to give you a little trivia before we move on to Brady. But this week we got Ravens, Eagles. Saquon's been obviously unbelievable. If I have to have one more purse, I think even Kevin Hart was texting me. Thank you for Saquon. Giants are fucking idiots. And Derek Henry for sure. I mean, 15 TDs and he's probably going to finish 20 plus. And you could make the argument definitely with Saquon, you could make the argument that one of those two guys deserves real contention. And they're playing each other this weekend, so if it becomes. We always get Quarterback duels. There's always the oh, my homes versus Josh Allen. This is going to decide. I feel like this Saquon Derrick Henry game could at least really advance the conversation to seriously consider a non quarterback mvp.

I'm looking up. I'm. I agree. I'm looking up, say, 1400 yards rushing already.

It's 11 games in 12 games.

I mean, he's gonna break. I mean, he's gonna break 2000. You. I think he should be in the. I think he should be maybe number one. Like, I don't understand. Like, this shouldn't be just. It's like the Heisman Trophy, right? The Heisman Trophy has always been typically a quarterback award. This year it's gonna change, I think. But it's like this dude is having a year that we haven't seen in a long time. And Philly might win the Super Bowl. I mean, that's how hot they are. So. And then. And then Derek Henry. I love this. I love more of the story of Derek Henry just leaving Tennessee. The whole running back narrative of like.

And you can see, you put. You get into a fit. A perfect scheme and a fit. And all of a sudden it's like, this dude is like. I mean, he's. He's unbelievable, man. He's freaking Hercules back there, dude.

I get, you know, I love getting texts from Eagles fans. Thanks for Saquon. Giants are idiots. There's no way SAQUON Barkley's doing 40% of this on the Giants. And similarly, I. Maybe Derrick Henry has eight touchdowns on the Titans because he's still a monster. He doesn't have 15. So there's something to be said as well about. All right. Derrick Henry with Lamar Jackson is wild. And then Saquon next to Jalen Hurts and that o Line and A.J. brown. It's pretty, pretty nuts. Josh Allen still is the MVP favorite at plus 150. Lamar's plus 250. But Saquon has cracked the top three, plus 475. And then that's an interesting bet. And I. Derek Henry's not in the top eight or nine. Can you name. There's been eight non quarterback MVPs since 1990. Can you even name one? I mean, just. I know it's not an easy exercise. I have him right here, so I'll rattle them off. See [e-mail] Brady, thank you for doing this. You know, I know you and Matt are tight. It's, it's rivalry week in college football. I just gotta go back. Can we go back for a minute? You guys have met on the field quite often and now you're boys. But take me back in time for a second. You know, you got liner coming in or you're going there. What, what's the feelings like?

[Matt Leinart]

So my true freshman year, because I started playing right away, I, I really didn't fully understand the magnitude of the Notre Dame, you know, Southern Cal rivalry, and there's a ton of history behind it. You'll probably hear about it all this week. But I grew up in the Midwest. You know, the schools I was looking at were Ohio State, Michigan, Notre Dame. And when it came downtown to make my decision, it was kind of tight between Notre Dame and Michigan. So when I picked Notre Dame, I, I don't know, something about the matchup versus Michigan, who we played every year at that time, that like, stood out to me, like something to prove. And a lot of the guys that were looking at either the one of those two schools, you know, you were very familiar with them from your recruiting visits and kind of keeping in touch, playing against each other. If they're from the state of Ohio, etc. So I. I was really like. Like, that was the matchup that I would always kind of looked at was like, man, this is like everything. Although after my. My freshman year, like, I started to understand, I should really say, not even after, like, before the game. I'll never forget, man, Joe Montana, who was like an idol, right? Like, I grew up, I love the Cleveland Browns, but I had family in Northern California, and so they would Send me some 49ers gear. And I love Jerry Rice. My first year I played football, played receivers. I love Jerry, and obviously I grew to love Joe Montana as his quarterback. So, you know, I grew up watching Joe have success. And that translated kind of the Tom Brady that, like that next goat. And I just. I remember, like, being down on the field on our walkthrough before the game, and I see Joe's kids. I think it might have been Nate. They were throwing the football around. And so I was like, hey, here, he throws it to me. I go to throw and Joe almost like slaps my arm down. As I'm like, going to go back, I'm like, what the heck? He's like, do you want to throw this? You know, before the game tomorrow? And he was like, oh, mess up your mechanics, your arm. I was like, oh. And like, Joe was always so cool, so laid back. And then talking with him a little bit, like, I started to get a better understanding of, like, what this meant to, like, so many people out in Cali, which, like, again, I was ignorant to at that point. But also, I mean, ignorance of the fact that, like, USC that year before I got there, was rolling obviously with Carson. Then Matt, I think that was your first year starting in. Oh, yeah. And you guys, obviously one of the greatest teams in college football history. So that was the most unfortunate part, is I couldn't play a Southern Cal team now. I had to play that era. What can I have been born at a time where I get to play, like, this version of Southern Cal?

[Brady Quinn]

I was. I was telling Jerry earlier, it's like. And you had Notre Dame, Michigan, obviously, and we had usc, ucla, and a little bit similar. Like, when I was there, it really wasn't a rivalry because UCLA wasn't good. But you go back to crosstown rivalries in the city of la, it is important, right? The battle of the bell. Like, you can go back to some of the great years in the 90s and all that, but, like, I remember my freshman year, we went to Notre Dame and it was like our first Time going. Pete's first time. So we get there and we go early because we go see, like, the Grotto. And we go. We're like. It was almost became like a tourist thing. We were like. Like, Pete wanted to do that. We got our ass kicked. Dude. It was Carlisle Holiday. Carlisle Holiday was a quarterback. And, like, we lost. And, like, who's your running back? You weren't there yet, but you had a good running back. And we just. We think it was 01. Yeah.

So anyway, I can't remember.

Julius Jones, maybe Ryan Grant, something like that.

What stump about playing them was obviously, they were unbelievable at that time. Like, you guys didn't lose, what, for two years in like that junior year until you lost against Texas?

Yeah, sophomore, early my sophomore year and then the last game.

Okay. So I just remember being Mike, it's not bad enough when you have to play a team that has like a lot of first round picks on their defensive front or a linebacker or whatever else. Well, then you're like trying to play a game where you've got to keep it away from their offense, which stunk and because. And everyone tells Jerry, like, you know what a format offense is, right?

I was already when you play, like, paying attention to play talk, be like, all right, we're to snap this thing about 2 seconds left. Look like, like we were like, this is like by design just milking the clock. That limit however many touch possessions they got. So it was a challenge. There's no doubt about it. Like I said before, like, unfortunately, we played USC during arguably the greatest era. I think they probably ever had. I don't think that's like hyperbole. It's probably the case. But look, I mean, USC was ahead of its time. You know, they had nil before nil was legalized. And that was beneficial, I think, to Southern California.

And so, Jerry, just so you know, like, game day, we'll be at the hotel meetings and whatnot in the morning. Then we go to the basilica and we have a mass. It's like an abbreviated mass. And so we. We head out from the church, we do this walk all the way to the stadium. And I want to say it was. Yeah, I think it was my senior year versus North Carolina, and the weather had kind of turned. At one point, I think Henry Scroope was our equipment manager, like, had asked me, like, hey, what socks do you want to wear? Like, you want to wear the normal ones or shorter? Like, longer ones? I'm like, I don't know. It looks like it's gonna be cool. Like, maybe we're the longer ones or whatever. And I always thought, like, cooler anyway. And so it's like, yeah, comment I think I made on like a Friday or something, like, day before the game. And so we go through the walk, we get to the stadium, and before I even get to my locker, I'm hearing someone like, run to come get me. And so I'm like, all right, what could this be about? And so I go to. I go to coaches locker. Like, he had his own separate little office locker room there. And he's only wearing his underwear. And I'm like, at no point had I seen coach in this capacity at any point those two years. And so I was, like, taken back by the whole situation. And me effing me about. Who do I think I am? I get to make decisions on the uniform. Everything else. I'm like, completely blown away. Trying to be like, what? What did I do? Like, what?

I'm like, like, no, it doesn't. Because I've had to get into the stadium before, right? Or go to my locker. Like, back in the day, I was a freshman, sophomore. So this girl's like, no, there's a. I was telling Jerry a little bit explain the brother in laws and what it's like at the Quinn household.

Yeah. So it's funny, you know, we. Everything kind of worked out the way it did, but my older sister Laura is married to A.J. hawk. So by the way, I've got to talk to liner. I didn't get the best of AJ we played like back when I was like in youth league. He beat us in the championship at Centerville and then we go to Ohio State, he beats us in the Fiesta Bowl. So I have to deal with that crap constantly.

What the is going on? I don't even know if I can I cuss on this. I don't know if I. Yeah, so that's my, my older brother in law. My younger brother in law is Jack Johnson. He was a defenseman for the Columbus Blue Jackets. So he plays. Yeah, yeah, obviously. My wife was in the 2008 Olympics. She's a very decorated Olympic gymnast. Won a bunch of medals in world championships too. So they're extremely athletic. And honestly, quite possibly the most athletic of the bunch is my little sister. So my little sister in women's soccer was like the three time Gary and state player of the year in Ohio. I didn't know that they'd won two state championships, went on a full ride to uva. She was on the Olympic development team. She ended up tearing up her knee twice, I believe, sophomore and senior year. And so that kind of ended things for with how bad her knee was. But incredible athlete, like everything LeBron won coming out of high school was like what she won where it was like this like a two, you know, two or three times.

That's amazing.

Yeah, it was incredible. So she's always the one that I try to give love to because no one really hears her story. And she was a ridiculous athlete. Like if you go in our high school, like we're both in the hall of Fame. She's the one that has like all these banners. Right? Like, like, you know, we made it to the state semis with four star high school. Been in football. We want to stay championship baseball.

[Jerry Ferrara]

But like, yeah, that's okay.

Yeah, like they. They weren't too. There's like always Gatorade State player banners up like, damn. But that's our family. Like, we're an incredibly athletic, competitive family. So there's essentially a fist fight over the turkey and the sides every Thanksgiving.

You know what I wanted to ask you, Brady? Because look it, you know, obviously you cover the game, but it's no secret too that you love the game. What? Because I got excited just listening to maybe thinking about going to a Notre Dame playoff game. That just sounds awesome. What, what coming into this season and what now excites you about just the playoff system? Because I'm hyped for it. I really am. I think this changes everything.

I think, like, the fact that you've got the Big 12 and like, no one controls their own destiny. Like, think about it, right? You have the last game, the regular season, and you can't say that if any team wins that they're definitively in the championship game. Like, there's all these tie breaking scenarios, which it speaks to a little bit of the realignment, but also just the fact of, you know, the anticipation for, like, what has made the regular season better. I think some people were concerned that if you expanded the playoff, it would allow teams to lose more games and so it wouldn't be as intriguing. But it's had the exact opposite effect now.

Yeah.

Like, can you make a case for a three loss SEC team that loses in the conference championship? Like, let's say Georgia goes to the SEC championship and loses with three losses. Like, you look at the resume, like, well, they beat a lot of good teams, but they also lost three times. And you kind of measure who they lost against versus like an Indiana team that doesn't go to the championship or potentially couldn't. Right. Still got some time left and then how that would factor out. So there's just, there's all those debates and conversations which I think has actually been like, healthy and good for college football.

Yeah, I agree. I think it also opens up the potential even. Even if we don't get it this year for a Cinderella story, which is what makes college basketball so great and what we see in the NFL where it's like, yeah, you got, you know, the juggernaut team.

It's rough. I was even thinking about this and almost wanting to ask both of you this, and it's unfair to ask now because there's going to be coaching changes. But if you look at the teams that need quarterbacks, there's quite a few of them. If you just look from afar, even though there will be coaching changes, if you're a quarterback coming in this year's draft, what organization are you looking at saying? Well, I think because Matt talks a lot about. It's so important for a young quarterback, the fit and where they go and the co and the infrastructure around them. And that's why I'm happy Bryce is starting to play well. And like, even though they lost to the Chiefs, but. So if you're looking, obviously the Gian, maybe the jets, the Raiders, for sure. There's. There's a solid four or five teams that need a quarterback.

[Brady Quinn]

What she just wants to know who's coming to the Giants. Is it. Is it Shador or who is it Cam Ward?

[Matt Leinart]

So here, here's the problem with that is I think everyone who definitively views Shador as the number one quarterback, and then maybe it's Cam Ward or Carson's back, depending on who you talk to and how you evaluate their tape. But that's the hard part, is there's only going to be one team that puts themselves in position and, you know, there's some leverage there. Then if, like, Shakur and Dion know and they have a destination that they have in mind, I mean, he's really good at, like, fighting his way. That's things worked out.

[Jerry Ferrara]

Vegas, baby. Vegas.

[Brady Quinn]

That's going to happen. It's going to happen this year.

[Matt Leinart]

It'll be really interesting. By the way, I'm not so sure the Giants move on from Brian Dable. I think there's a chance they could stay with him the. The off season. Hard knocks, like, couldn't have gotten any worse. Like, it couldn't have gone any worse. Where the kid actually looks like he, you know, could be general manager is just as good at that point, but.

[Jerry Ferrara]

He'S the one that makes such a.

[Brady Quinn]

I know it was such a bad. That was such a bad look, overthinking.

This a little bit, but I think the Giants would be a great spot for any quarterback. And part they tended to be pretty patient. They've tended to try to build around that position. And I think from the quarterback who goes their standpoint you don't have to do much in order to get a second contract. So, like, there's that, like, you just gotta be average or, you know, whatever. But I'm just saying that's. That's attractive, right?

[Jerry Ferrara]

Like, listen, I have the talk all the time with my buddy who's just like, you know, it's great that Daniel's got the contract, but he shouldn't have. That's what you get. You took all the money and that's what you got.

[Matt Leinart]

You should have. And I snagged him. Agreed. An extension with Saquon. You could have let it play out another year with Daniel Jones. Jones. That would have been ideally how it went. And all honesty, like, because they didn't pick up his fifth year option, which is part of that. But here's the thing is, I'll say is, Matt, you're lucky, because when I moved up from Ohio, from South Florida, I had a bunch of buddies and guys who are East Coast. They're from New York, Jersey, Philly, Boston. All these different accents. There's nothing like talking to, like, that east coast sports fan. I know a guy like Jerry, it makes me miss my boys. Makes me miss Fasano. All my boys.

[Brady Quinn]

Yeah.

Because they're just, oh, we love Fasano.

We love Fasano, dude. What? It's the. The first time Jerry and I hung out. One of the first times we were in New York, doing a lot of stuff for this, and we were watching the Knicks game, and it was my first real interaction to like, he's a. He's a die hard Knicks. He's a die hard New York fan, right? So I was like. And as a West Coast, I'm like.

Knicks are my Browns.

It was just like watching a Knicks game and him and all like, you're talking about, it just was like, oh, this shit's great, dude. Like, this is like a true New Yorker who loves his sports talks every. I mean, we talk so much. Fucking Giants, dude. I'm like, at this point, it's like, Danny Jones is gone, dude. He's gone.

It's painful, though, to not have a meaningful game now in over two years. And even before that, years before that. That's why fantasy and betting is what I have, because it's been so bad for both New York teams. But, you know, I was trying to. Yeah, I was trying to sneak in you just saying the Giants would be a good place for a young quarterback, and you kind of did. So I feel like it's a big victory.

It just, it just was a money moment for me because I just was. So basically, two Ravens fans basically gave whatever, I don't know, an envelope or whatever. And it was Van Pelt and Kelsey and the crew and Marcus Spears and they announced the gender reveal on live tv, I believe. And I just immediately, like, we're having a baby and we're not finding out the sex. And I just immediately thought if I were to ask, like, genuinely ask my wife, hey, why don't we do a gender reveal at a football game on tv? The look that I would have gotten from her, she would have said, she literally, she said, I will cut your balls off if you ever do that. Like, that's what she would say to me. And she would look, she would be dead serious. I don't. I thought it was great. I thought the moment was great. I thought it was fantastic.

[Jerry Ferrara]

I thought it was a unique way to do it.

[Brady Quinn]

It was unique. I'm just saying, like, I try to put myself in those shoes. And I was like, dude, my wife would laugh in my face and then say that to me right in this, in the, in five seconds. So that was my money moment. I thought it was Great. It just, that just wouldn't fly in my house.

[Jerry Ferrara]

I have a couple of things. The gender reveal stuff on Instagram has gone wild. We've all seen the fails. It's gone, it's gone too far. We've never, we did one not for social. Just amongst us in the family with our second kid, right? And it was cute. We didn't like do it and blast it out. The things I saw from that number one, I felt if you really watched the flicker of the dad's reaction versus the mom's reaction, finding out when it's a boy, the dad instantly went, yeah. And the wife, you could see the flicker of like fuck. And then when you. I'm. Look, I'm sure she's thrilled. Maybe she won't.

[Brady Quinn]

Dude, that's real.

[Jerry Ferrara]

I'm not trying to put, you know, project onto her. I thought I saw a flicker of oh yeah, that. And then I started thinking, wouldn't it be cool if that kid grows up to become a professional athlete because then they're going to roll that clip for the rest of his. Rest of his career.

[Brady Quinn]

I thought it was, I thought it was awesome. I think the reactions are the best. I had a similar experience with my, my little one was born. But we know to go into that we don't need to go.

[Jerry Ferrara]

I do appreciate the ones especially with dads who where it's like their fifth girl and they just kind of, oh, shit.

[Brady Quinn]

By the way, what a rockstar wife. Just wanting to do it on at Monday Night Football. That's pretty badass.

And you were there. Matt Liner. You, you were present for it. All right, all right.

So mine, you know, any chance I get to talk about golf, I get really excited. My money moment was Joel Damon. You know who Joel Damon is? I've had the chance to shoot some stuff with Joel Damon on the golf course. Joel Damon, star of Full Swing on Netflix. We talked Drive to Survive earlier. Same company does Full swing behind the scenes stuff. Joel Damon was the breakout star from that show. He's had a wild up and down career, but he's always had his PGA Tour card. If you fall out of the 125 on the FedEx rankings, you lose your PGA Tour card. Like that's it, it's over. You can still play events, but you're almost like a fill in. Joel Damon went into the tournament last week and I think he was 1:25, but he was not playing well. And he had a five foot putt that if he missed, I think he misses the cut, which would almost assuredly drop him out of the FedEx Cup. He drills the putt. That's a money moment. And then he goes on, hold up, let me pull it up. He goes. So he's still at 1:25. And I think he goes on to shoot a 64 to basically guarantee and he finished 1:25 and retain this PGA Tour card. You know what that means? He could play any PGA Tour event. He could make his own schedule. He didn't lose his card. Once you lose a card, yeah, you're very, very hard to get back there. Joel Damon not only, not only a good guy, but stepped up when the money was on the line. Stepped up.

[Brady Quinn]

And that is my money moment, by the way. 5. Five foot putts are, are harder than 20 foot putts sometimes because just the pressure of making those with your PGA.

[Jerry Ferrara]

Make golf, by the way. Golf is no joke, dude. Golf is no joke, man. The pressure of the, like it's you against the, it's you against everybody else. That's part of the reason why it's just like shit, man.

Well, we're gonna be seeing more Joel Damon next year. All right, time for our throwback three, we were thinking, I guess. Cause it's rivalry week, like we said, and Brady Quinn, one of your rivals. It would be good to talk about throwback three sports, team rivalry. Heavy on the team. Because if you start going down the individual, individual athletes, we'll do athletes another.

[Brady Quinn]

Time because there's so many, man. It's a whole other show, a good one.

[Jerry Ferrara]

So this one is team Matt.

[Brady Quinn]

Okay, so I'll start. I'm gonna go three. Lakers, Celtics. This could easily be. This could easily be number one of all time. However you want. And by the way, like Bird magic is maybe one of the biggest rivalries too. Two of the most iconic sports brands, teams in the history of sports. They always will be, no matter what the players. Obviously going back, I think, you know, 18 championships with the Celtics, 17 with the Lakers, going back to the, to the olden days to recently. And I just remember like, I'm a die hard Laker fan, Kobe fan. I remember being in Europe for the run when they beat the Celtics. And I remember we would be out. We'd either be out all night and get home and it would be on at like 4 in the morning there. I would be either hammered watching it or for whatever reason we went to bed and we would get up. I would get up at 3:30 or 4 in the morning to watch live back here. Those games and Kobe to win that with Kobe and Gasol going up against obviously KG and Pierce and Rondo and all those guys. So I would just say Lakers, Celtics. The hatred, the respect, the. The championships. The two best NBA franchises of all time. That's my number three.

[Jerry Ferrara]

Yeah, mine is. I'm sticking in the NBA too, which is ironic because the Knicks certainly don't have any rivals because they haven't been good. But the rivalry I enjoyed the most in addition to Laker Celtics. I'm going to go Cavs, warriors. Because they played each other.

[Brady Quinn]

Warriors.

[Jerry Ferrara]

Are you nuts? Go back in time. Warriors win, then the Cavs win, then the warriors get Durant. They played in the final.

[Brady Quinn]

Oh, okay.

You're talking about LeBron versus the Warriors.

[Brady Quinn]

Yeah. And I was going back to like Brad Daugherty.

[Jerry Ferrara]

Mark Price. Brad. Were they playing Chris Mullen and Tim Hardaway?

No, it's the LeBron Cavs second go around versus Steph and the Warriors. And down Durant, the 3. 1 series. I don't think we'll ever get that again because I don't think we'll get. We'll see what LeBron. I don't think we'll get what LeBron did where one team will be in the NBA Finals every single year. And then the Warriors. Epic. To me, that is a dynasty. I just don't think we'll see that. And those were the. To me, the finals where, you know, even though those aren't your teams, you're still watching the stars in those finals.

[Brady Quinn]

I mean, you had the greatest shooter of all time and, and Steph and.

[Jerry Ferrara]

You have great player 1.

[Brady Quinn]

Arguably the greatest player of all time. It was. Yeah, that was.

And sprinkle in Kyrie with 50 point games and JR Smith grabbing the ball at the foul line, not knowing how much time is left down three.

One series. That was. That was the. The summer of Richard Jefferson, we like to call the buddy of mine out.

Here, rj Just dunking on people. He hasn't done anyone. And then Draymond hitting LeBron in the balls. It just was amazing. So that's my number three.

All right, number two. I'm gonna be there this weekend. Ohio State, Michigan. And I never knew. I'll be. I'll be. I never knew the importance of this and what it meant until I started covering it. And obviously being around Urban Meyer, who coached in this for seven years, there is a, A disdain for both, like a hatred, hatred, hatred within those fan bases. College, college football and college Sports, I think, are just different than professional. Right. This goes back, I mean, the stories and like, so Ohio State crosses out every M on campus. The week of Michigan, maybe before. Every M, every M. And it doesn't matter where it is. It is, it is, it is an X, right? They, they refer to Michigan as the team up north. Coach Meyer has said the word Michigan, I think twice since I've known him for six years. And both times he said it, we all look at him like, coach, what the, what you said?

You just say.

What did you just say?

And he goes. And it's almost like, like, like, like a family member died. He's like, oh, did you ask him.

On social how much money it would take to coach Michigan? Was that.

Yeah, he was like, no amount of money. He's like, ah, maybe.

Do you believe him? Like, if they offer Urban, we'll give you.

He would never. He wouldn't. There and then, and then just the, the games, like, I think Charles Woodson, David Boston, back in the day, which is a little player, right? But you just like the moments. And I cover it, man, I live it. There is that. There is like clocks in both locker rooms. 364 days until we play that team. And it's both ways. It is remarkable. I think it's. I think it's arguably the greatest rivalry in all of sports. I didn't put it as my number one, but it is, it is up there. And I encourage. It's a bucket list, like, to go see it is really, really cool.

My number two, I'm sticking in college, but I'm, I'm sticking with basketball. And I've, I've been to, I've been to one of these in my life, and it was outstanding. Is it your number one?

[Brady Quinn]

Yeah.

Are you going Duke, Carolina, number one? All right, well, then let's talk about that. No, I haven't been to many college basketball games. I went to one Duke, Carolina game, and both teams weren't even good at this moment. It was a down year for both teams. And I have never been. I've been in a lot of cool sporting environments. I don't get the college thing because I didn't go. We discussed this even when we were at USC with you, but, man, I understood it when I went to Duke and Carolina. And then you start thinking about the players and the coaches and which went.

Which, which did he go? Did you go to Duke or.

[Jerry Ferrara]

I went to Duke. Yeah, I went to Duke.

[Brady Quinn]

So Cameron indoors.

[Jerry Ferrara]

Cameron indoor was. Goes nuts. You feel like you're on the high school gym. Yeah. So that has to be one of the. I think if they were all gonna die, I think that'd be the last one to die, almost.

I. I think. I think, yeah, that was my number one. And I'll just say, like, I. I went to one game and it was. Duke was very good. Carolina wasn't. So it wasn't like a great game, but I experienced everything you did, and I went with, like, a pretty big Duke person. So we got the full. And I know Coach K a little bit, and he was great. We got the full VIP treatment and we sat courtside, like one row up, right behind the announcer. And I'm in here, I'm thinking, like, this is high school basketball. Like, it's a high school gym. And the. And the. The Duke crazies, the student section. And then as you said, like, like Reddick, Grayson Allen, Leitner. Hands, bro. Like, it's like, talk about some of the most hated places of all time. Hated, dude. And it's what, 15 minutes down, like Tobacco Road or whatever.

[Jerry Ferrara]

It's.

[Brady Quinn]

It's. It's by far. Dude, I love that one, man. Yeah.

I, you know, I try. We try not to be complete homers with this throwback three. But it is a personal one. It's Yankees, Red Sox.

Okay. I was like, are we going to go somehow Giants in this thing?

[Jerry Ferrara]

No, I. I tried to find a Giants rivalry.

[Brady Quinn]

I know you did.

[Jerry Ferrara]

I know they haven't beaten the Cowboys in like 12 years. I don't even remember the last time we beat the Eagles in a meaningful game. There is no Giants rivalry. You can't even talk about the Giants, which is why Scott Hansen is so important, because I'm a red zone guy. I.

[Brady Quinn]

There's no shout out to the goat, by the way.

[Jerry Ferrara]

The goat, Scott. That is completely it for me with that. So. But if you are even curious about the Red Sox Yankees rivalry, obviously it goes way back to Babe Ruth, but go watch Jeter's doc. Go watch the Captain, which is an amazing doc if you just respect a great athlete, even if you're not into Yankee porn like I am. And then if you are a Yankee fan, encourage every Yankee fan. Go watch the Comeback on Netflix about the Red Sox.04. It hurts, but you really see what the rivalry means to both people. Fans, not even the team, just the teams and the players, of course. But the Fans, though, in 04, they were so ready to lose to the Yankees again. And they. They start drinking in the locker room. It was Millar just got. They started drinking Jack Daniels, whatever. They were drinking in the locker room. They win one game and then next thing you know, history is made. So go. Go watch that stuff. That's the number one. And I think baseball, we just had Yankees, Dodgers, which was great. We really need the Yankees and the Red Sox to be good at the same time. And it hasn't happened in a while.

[Brady Quinn]

The big Poppy era, man, Big Poppy was great. But rivalries are like. It's what makes sports so unique. It doesn't matter if it's collegiate, NFL. Gosh, I mean, you could even do high school these days. Like, it is. It's. It's. It's so much fun. And then the history and the stories. That's why those docs are great, right? Because it just takes you back into, like, like, like, how did they become the rival? How did, like, where did this story start?

[Jerry Ferrara]

Where did it start?

[Brady Quinn]

Yeah. I think that's so fascinating, man. Yeah. Well, all those bucket lists, man, do care.
