Welcome back to another episode of Trading Secrets. I'm your host Jason Tardick. We got David Arin with us right now. This is the pre trading segment before we open up the market. Of course the market is our guest. I got David and I Here, There's a little something different right now. David and I are live. It's like almost like a studio now. We got lights on, we got a legit recording. This might even be up on social media. Before we ring in our guests, David, just in general, hey, this is, this is very different. We usually don't have the videos on. Let me do this.
C
Very different. I, I think I like it. I'm not in love with it right now. And that's personal reasons. I like where it's going to. We got blank background. Something's got to change. It looks like we're both trapped in, in someone's basement right now. And I am trapped in my own basement. So that's going for us. But other than that, I think we're moving in the right direction here.
A
What personal reasons? Talk to me. Trade this.
C
Well, I'm looking at myself and I, I have etched in my head last year's jta. And when I saw last year's JTA come out in the close, come out, I said, you know what? I'm gonna, I'm, I need to improve myself, Jason. And I did improve myself from that day on. And then the holiday season hit and baby number two came and I'm just, I'm trying to find the right angle to maybe hide the, the double chin, the extra layer here, the extra, you know, couple pounds that I've got that I've gathered. So I'm going to use this if we're going to do this as motivation to really kick my ass into gear. But I, I need the accountability. I need the people out there.
A
I'll tell you what. January, I was dialed, I mean, absolutely dialed, ripped to a shred. February, pure disaster. I think in the last 48 hours I've had, I don't know, seven drinks. I've had three cookies. Two Sundays, I've had four plates of pasta, chicken parm. I mean, it's been just, I mean, I've been, I have Sour Patch Kids today. I'm five, falling off.
C
My family has been visiting from Vancouver for two weeks and they are amazing chefs. But I have been eating same thing. I mean, who's the chef?
A
Mom, dad, Ash, Both Mom, Mom's mom and dad are both chefs.
C
Mom's more homestyle chef, Dad's more. I'm gonna take anything that's in the pantry, like Top Chef style, in, in or chop style and make like a, like a five star cuisine.
A
You ever see the videos where people go to McDonald's and they get like a Big Mac? And then they make, like, an unbelievable, like, actual dinner from the Big Mac meal. You ever see that?
C
That would be him. Wow.
A
Okay. Yeah.
C
So I'm trending down, but I'm going to start trending up, but with my family here with the Harry episode is. Which we're going to get into.
A
Yeah, God announced it, by the way. That's the first time we. Anyone's ever said it. Right there. That's it. David Arnold bringing it out.
C
Well, I'm excited, I'm pumped. I'm gonna cry at some point, whether it be intro recap today, because when you get old, my birthday is tomorrow. My 39th birthday is tomorrow. My family just visited for two weeks. They just left today. And we've talked on this podcast about how when you get old and you don't live with your parents, when you see them, the neck, that could be number one of 12. And now I only have 11 times where I really get to see them. And then you bring, you know, we make the. The emergency announcement to go with the Harry episode, which we'll get into Harry and his story and how amazing it is. And I'm so glad we're making this announcement change in this podcast guest change. Because, man, for me personally, it's hitting home hard right now. So I'm excited for the people just to hear the genuine amount of love that Harry brings to the world.
D
I love it.
A
It's a great transition. And we'll ring in the bell here with Harry and Dan here shortly. But, you know, the quick substitute came in because when we were doing the tour, the private stadium tour that the Detroit Lions put on, which was just amazing, we had like 10, 15 minutes. The guys that were doing some video work, I said, you guys have mics. Like, these guys are amazing. Can I just do like, 10, 15 minutes of interviewing with them? They're like, absolutely. Harry and Dan were like, that would be an. So we got Harry and Dan on the ones and twos. We did this interview in the Detroit Lions field. We were on the field, on the benches, doing this interview. And for anybody that hasn't seen on my social media, the quick, quick summary is that Catherine and I were at the Super Bowl. We're going to grab a drink, and we saw these two older gentlemen just chopping it up, laughing, hitting each other elbow to elbow. Like, that's amazing. Well, they had Detroit Lions jerseys on, and Catherine's from Detroit, so she went over and started saying hello to them, and they just were the most jolly nicest guys in the world. So I took my phone out, I started videotaping it and I was just like, you know, with the super bowl, there's so. There's so much bullshit and like, you know, so much commentary on like all this stuff and this and that and the halftime show. It's like, can we just like enjoy something for once? Like, is there anything we can all just be happy with? And like, this was a moment that felt like that. And I put it up there. I got both Katherine and I got reached out by Harry's family saying, wow, I can't believe you met Harry and Dan. Harry has inoperable cancer. He's doing chemo now to strictly see how long he'll be able to make it, knowing that it will not be cured. And they don't know that he'll make it to next year's super bowl, let alone especially a Detroit Lions Super Bowl. So Dan said to Harry, he's know we're going. And so we heard this story, put it back. Another story on social media. Hey, can we tag the Detroit Lions? 25,000 people have reached out tagging the Detroit Lions. And the Detroit Lions did something really special, which was a whole private tour. And one last shout out I want to give is when Evan and I were on my book tour in 2022 in Detroit, we did a stop there and we had a dinner at a steakhouse called Prime Proper and we met the management team there. And that was back in 2022. Well, prime and Proper saw to Detroit Lions what they did for Harry and Dan. They reached out to Evan and I and said we want to host everyone for dinner. And so Harry, his wife, Dan his wife, their cousin, all of Catherine's family, we had the best dinner at prime and Proper. These people, David, are amazing. And it's such a reminder that in times of darkness, someone like that can even find and be the brightest light not only for himself, but everyone around him. And you think about, I know you and I are culprits of this, right? Like there are those days we stub our toe and we act like it's the end of the world. Oh yeah, he's someone like Harry going through what he's going through and still being able to be such a light to every single person around him, including himself. It's a wake up call for all this.
C
I. I couldn't agree more. And I just love how two worlds truly come together. We've talked a lot. We even talked last week about the super bowl, about how you're going to parties or events or even the game. It doesn't even feel like people want to be there. They're just there for alternative reasons. And here you have these guys who you have you and Catherine, who's there. And because you're seeing a genuine interaction and in your DNA, you bring out your phone and record it because it's genuine and it's a memory and it's really cool and you didn't plan for it to go anywhere. And then you have two guys who you said are chopping it up who probably didn't bring out their phones once the entire game. They may not have even brought up their phones the entire day.
A
Jason, anything about social media? They're like, we don't know what social media is.
C
Those two guys stumbling around the concourse, getting a couple beers, couple bruskies, couple hot dogs, talking about the lines will never get there. Just enjoying life, you know, when good things happen to good people who don't expect it, it makes it that much better. And I think that's a great queue up to, to this episode is, is, you know, hearing the interview with him. Man, this guy is the best. So it's an amazing thing you did. I'm sure you feel amazing to be able to use your platform to provide opportunities like this, but well done. It was awesome.
A
We'll talk more about that, like the whole platform discussion. I think we also have a shorter episode here with Harry and Dan. Guys, it's only like 10, 15 minutes. We didn't have much time to get into things, but we got into what matters. So in the recap, David, we're gonna talk about some of the things that are trending right now. Got the Olympics, there's some reality tv. AI is now a real job and income disruptor. We'll talk about that. Maybe interest rates. Consumer spending's pulling back a little bit. How much did people spend on Valentine's Day? What's going on with the markets? All the things we'll talk about. Life. We'll probably have about 20, 30 minutes. So without further ado, we're going to ring the bell with Harry and David. Make sure to give us five stars. Let us know your biggest takeaway from this episode. David, anything before we ringing in with them?
C
No, just put 10 minutes. Guys, whatever you're doing, put it down. Lock in, shed a tear. Call your mom, call your dad, call your brother, Tell him you love him.
A
Perfectly said. Let's ringing the bell with the two Harry and Dan. Welcome back to another episode of Trading Secrets. This is a very special edition. We are at Ford Field in Detroit. We got Harry here, we got Dan here. The welcome sign here, you can see it right there. Welcome to Ford Field with Harry. What a special moment. Talk to people. Just explain what's going on today and what it's meant to you.
E
Well, it's been great. I'll tell you. I'm not used to any attention, and this has been overwhelming as far as. But you and Kathryn, and it's just. I'm overwhelmed. It's been a wonderful day, and I don't know what to say. I never thought I'd experience anything like this in my life. I mean, it. And it's just been still trying to get my head around it. Everything is happening so quickly as far as being here and understanding even what your podcast and how it facilitated moved things forward to this point. We are right now, and it's been great. Well, I want to thank you.
A
Dan and I were talking on the field, and I think one of the things is that, like, your energy is so magnetizing. It's infectious. Like, the reason the video was connecting with so many people is because of, like, the energy.
E
Well, thank you. Thank you so much. And I don't. I don't see that. But thank you, though. You're very kind and wonderful and. Yeah, and I'm humbled. I really am humbled by what's happening.
A
Do you have, like. I think there's a lot of people right now that, either in work or professional or maybe their personal lives are struggling a little bit, maybe even mentally, they're. They're exhausted or they go through life with maybe an attitude a little bit different than yours. It's just a little bit glass half empty as opposed to glass half full. Do you have any advice for them back home?
E
There's so much good in a day, in any given day. You got to recognize it and take the best out of that day and any negativity or problems you might have, try and put it behind you and look at what's in front of you. That's positive. And it's just. I love life, and I'm lucky that I try and enjoy the best of it. Nothing's perfect. Each day is not perfect. Neither is yours, I'm sure. But gosh darn it, you think about, I'll bless you with friends and family, and it's just. It's great. Yeah. I am so lucky. I can't stand it. I mean it.
A
We saw the clip on channel seven. All your family's there. It's clearly you've had that impact on your family. And Dan, clearly, he's had it on you as well. I mean, what are some things that you've learned through Harry and how he experienced life that you'd want to make sure people knew or thought about as they go through their day?
D
Everybody loves Harry. He treats everybody with respect and love, and he wants them to have a great day. And it's evident by the Detroit people.
E
Oh, boy.
D
But also now that we had the chance to be in San Francisco, that now the town of San Francisco, the people of San Francisco now love here.
E
Oh, well, that's very kind attitude.
D
And the way he treats people, no matter what levels they're at, he wants them to have a great day. And there's a lot of love, and he shows that. And it's all about the other person and not about Harry.
A
I love it, Harry, everything you're doing, I feel like you're just touching people. You're inspiring them. We do talk some career stuff on this podcast. So tell us, like, professionally, what. What has. What have you done for work, for your life? What's your career looked like?
E
I've been in the glass business most of my days, and I had a very small little company, and I had an opportunity several years ago because running a small business is not easy, and it's either you're worried about getting the work done or not having enough. And so an opportunity arose for me to go to work for a local company. They're a great company. I'll put a plug in for them. Weather Garden Window Company. And they invited me to come to work for them, and I worked for them for a day. I said, well, I won't charge you nothing. I said, I'll just come to work for you and see what the job is. I. I fell in love right away.
A
That's awesome.
E
I got to share this with you.
A
Yeah.
E
Because I'm so happy for them and whatnot. But when I first had cancer, I had to, you know, go under the knife. And the owner, one of there's two owners, two sons, and he took me into his office. He had a contract written up. He goes, harry, he goes, I'm going to sign this. He goes, no matter how long it takes you to get healthy, he goes, you got a job here, and I'll make certain of it. And at this particular point where I'm at, they don't question a thing. If I can't work, you just call in, we'll cancel the jobs that you have, and you come back when you can. These are the people I work for, which makes my life even so much happier.
A
And you're still working now?
E
Yes, I'm still working. And I love it. I love it. I am so gosh darn lucky. I swear to God, I can't even understand it. I don't know why I deserve all this, but it's crazy.
A
In the winter, I feel this more than ever. But especially with the dogs. Even after cleaning all the time, my house still feels a little dust heavy. And so I now have in my bedroom an Air Doctor. An Air Doctor helps with a lot of things. Fewer odors, reduced allergy symptoms, better sleep and just extra protection and peace of mind. So air Doctor's powerful three stage filtration captures extremely small particles about 100 times smaller than what a typical air purifier will actually be able to remove. It also has this whisper quiet operation so it's not loud like some of those other filtration systems. And it has this auto mode feature where ensures optimal air. 24, 7. I could tell you on mine it will like. It grades it like. It will tell you like your air is green. The circle around it will give it a percentage and it will show you you're in good space. 98% of air doctors customers say their home's air feels cleaner and safer and healthier. Now here's what I got to tell you. Air Doctors won Newsweek's readers choice award for the best air purifier. The answer is there. It's the Air Doctor. The, the reach out is just amazing. But when we were trying to figure out what day we would come here to the Lions field, Harry worked. Worried more about working and what time he could get off versus let's just go. And it was his kids and his wife that said, Harry, you can take a day off, but that's his work ethics. So it goes on both sides. An ownership and a worker like Harry that's very loyal and dedicated to what he does and to the people not to let him down.
E
I love it.
A
I think that's for anyone that hasn't seen the story yet. Part of this story is. You're inspired by Harry, and you're like, I don't want to let him down. Tell him he did a little bit about what he's thinking with the Super Bowl.
D
So we were at his house, he had a family get together, and Harry looked at me and he said, hey, Brinks, what are we going to do for the Super Bowl? We're going to have it over here. What are we going to do? And I said, harry, we're going to go. We're going to go. You and I are going to go, and there's no ifs, ands, or buts. We're going to get out there and we're going to go, and we're going to enjoy ourselves and have a great time. And he fought it for a little bit, not too long, and he said, okay, let's go. And he went in and grabbed his Barry Sanders jersey and said, we're going to wear Detroit stuff there. We're going to represent Detroit. I love Detroit. I love the Lions. And then it went from there. And you guys have just been unbelievable, you know, to get the message out, because it's about people praying for Harry and his recovery and his health.
E
Well, Daniel, and I'll tell you, there's more to the story. When he first came and approached Valgowen, I thought he was just blowing smoke. I go, yeah, let's go. You know what I mean? Ha ha ha. And then as it became more and more serious, it's. It's like, no, I. You know, it's hard to accept lavish gifts. He's not a rich man. He's not, you know, and for him to offer that up, to offer that up, it's. It was. It was. It was overwhelmingly wonderful and kind. It was beautiful, man. And I thank you, brother. I thank you.
D
I love you.
A
You guys have such a special bond, such a special friendship. It's infectious. Why don't we wrap with this? When you think about everything that you've learned in life, all the lessons you've learned, and when you look back at everything you've accomplished and all the people you've touched, what is, like, the biggest piece of advice, biggest lesson that you've learned on your way. And we'll go with both of you. So whoever has it top mind first.
D
I think to love others, because it's definitely the way this. This has grown in the reach out, is that there's some really great people in this room. You got to reach out to others, but I think you got to do for others. You Got to. You got to support others, and you got to be kind and. Oh, boy, that's a big thing.
E
Yeah.
D
Because then it comes back to you. You got to be respectful and kind and do what you can. We're on this earth one time, and whatever you can do, you need to do it because there may not be tomorrow.
A
Yeah. Well said. How about you, Harry? What can you leave us with?
E
I think to be kind and thoughtful. When you approach people, you don't know if you can come up with it. Just be positive. That can open doors you don't even know are available. And you guys are a prime example of that. Boy, it's like fertilizer. If you're kind and whatnot like that, things are going to grow from that. And so. Yeah, yeah. That's the essence of, I think, to behave and be fair and don't cheat people and don't be taking advantage of folks. It'll catch up to you.
A
But beautifully said. Yeah. For me, I always like to take my trade secret. My trade secret I learned from you is that, like, the power of humanity is unmatched.
E
Yes, yes.
A
But I think the power of humanity is just unmatched. And I think to. To kind of connect with that, you have to. You have to, at the core, be able to see positivity in life. You think about day to day. Dan, you and I were talking, like, how many things you stub your toe, right, you miss a meeting or someone yells at you, like, and it could ruin your day. And I think what you've done is you've showed us is that the power of light, the power of glass half full, and the power that can connect so many people in such a short period of time. And I feel like now more than ever, we could all use it. So keep spreading the light, and hopefully this light will spread to someone that's watching.
E
Kindness begates kindness. It's just. It just keeps rolling forward. It's wonderful, wonderful.
A
And we are all rooting for you, so thank you.
E
So special. Thank you. Thank you. I need to hug you, man. Man, we love you guys. No, thank you.
A
Thank you, guys for.
E
We appreciate secrets from the Detroit lines. Yes, sir.
A
You can't be.
E
Ding, ding, ding.
A
We are closing in the bell. A little bit of a longer recap. Lot to touch on. We got a first start with Harry and Dan. I want to give another shout out to the Detroit Lions. And I want to give another shout out to prime and proper for hosting us for dinner. Such an amazing dinner. You know, David meeting Harry, meeting Dan, Meeting their wives. It's just not a coincidence that, like, good energy and good people find good people. And I gave a toast at the dinner. Nothing planned, nothing rehearsed, just spoke from the heart. And one of the things I said was, you know, six days ago, half this table, I didn't know one of you. The other half, this table, you know, not too long ago, I didn't know any of you. And we go back a year from today, there's not one person here in this building that I know. And when I think about relationships and really getting to know someone and building it with someone, it's just not built on timing, it's built on connection. Like, six days, I feel like we're family. And you think about how many people you've known for 1 years, 5 years, 10 years, 20 years, and how you're like, yeah, I know, acquaintance, whatever. But, like, to be able to connect with someone like this by just happenstance that we walk by them at the super bowl and then all this happens. I mean, I could keep David, I could bore you with how many people have been in my DMs trying to do something for Harry. Like, even Jared Goff and his wife reaching out to be like, hey, what can we do? I mean, the list is endless, but it's. It's really a beautiful story, I think. One that can touch a lot of people and hopefully one that touched you, too.
C
Yeah, I mean, it touched me before we even hit record, because my dad, who I mentioned in the intro, was here, and he goes, who you guys are recapping tonight? Who you recording? Who's the guest? I was like, actually, we decided to switch it. And I gave him the quick elevator speech of who it was. And my dad was crying. He was like. He was like, that's a great idea. And I was just like. I walked downstairs to record, and I'm like, oh, my God. Like, very rarely does he ask me, and very rarely do I get to see him these days anymore. But, like, for him to have that genuine reaction, he's like, that's really special that you guys would do that, that you guys would prioritize his story and his message. And I was like, you. You're right. 100. You're right. And, you know, just to build off what you said a little bit too, like, we're almost entering a generation and a need for, like, all the people that we consider we have relationships with to not be like, oh, yeah, we're close. We don't really talk anymore. But, like, you know, when we see each other, we just pick up where we left off. It's like we, we kind of need to start connecting more. We kind of need to check in on each other more. We kind of need to be there for and as they said, like do for others more. And that's kind of a culmination of, of what you guys were able to do and Harry's obviously life work to be able to give off the energy, the radiation to make Catherine want to go over there to have you want to pull out your really, really beautiful in that 10 minutes to see all the things that you were talking about.

That's 50% off your first year@monarch.com with code trading. Well, especially like in a world that we're living in where like by the second, David, I mean by the living second, which is a topic we'll talk about in this recap. AI is moving at a speed that's just, it's really hard to comprehend. I mean, Evan and I were sharing a podcast that we listened to recently about how with Cloudbot, there's, there's a, there's a new AI. Well, it's, it's a part of Claude. Right. But with Open Claw and Claude Cowork, you can actually like start to build an employee, like a new identity. So like you build this employee, you open a Gmail for them, you connect them to your CRM, you can connect them to your. Your social media, and you could start inputting exactly what to do, and then you can input. The report will give you time stamps of every single thing they did for that day. You can integrate them into your Gmails. Like, it's getting crazy, the speed at which AI is moving, and that's a subject we could hold for a second, but everything's becoming a little bit robotic. And when you have a moment like this where you could just connect with a person eye to eye, someone you never knew, and then learn more about them and their insight and their job and how they approach life. And you heard about his story with his employer. Like, you have a contract for life as long as you want to work here. Man, is it refreshing in a time like today where everything is becoming what feels like so emotionless and so robotic?
C
Yeah. I mean, all I. To sum it up, like, the hug that they had, Harry and Dan to each other, who obviously went through. Have been through so much in life together. The hug and the thank you that they did while you were recording, you could feel the emotions in that. It's just like, man, how easy is it to say thank you to someone in principle, but how hard do we make it? Sometimes we just make it so hard, whether it's a prideful thing or a vulnerability thing. Like, it's crazy. Like, Jason, thank you for letting me be part of this podcast for five years. Like, that, like, it means a lot to be able to do this, and it's grown our relationship so much because of it. And I maybe don't say thank you enough because there's a million, truly a million other people in the world who would get the opportunity to do what I do, but I truly value it. And thank you for that. Like, that. Like, like, things like that. Like, and I mean that.
A
And thank you for always being there for me. Like, when I was down and out, I think about my one hand. I can count the people that were always there for me when I was down and out. And you were always there. Always, always, always. And you always say, like, never forget the people when that were there for you at your weakest point, you were always that person. And we don't do that enough.
C
No, we don't. And we don't do it enough with each other, and we don't do enough with a lot of people in our life. And, you know, another quote that I took from Harry in this, he goes, you know, there's so much good in any given day. You just.
A
On that.
C
And I just. That was a really, really powerful takeaway because he's right. You just said in the intro sometimes we stub our toe and end up like we broke our leg or like the world's ending. Like no one's better at that than me, Johnny Drama himself. So I'm, I, you know, I, I just love being able to take a step into people like this world because impacting people positively is, is really what your life should be all about.
A
And it goes to. We talked about it a couple recaps ago, but that one image and I shared it on my social media of the dad that's on the bench park thinking about like a money, a plane, work and he's next to his son and he's all stressed out and his son is just happy. And in his son's think bubble all it is is him, the bench and his dad and it's like we just don't do enough of it. And the impact that has on every area of life, we gotta do more of it. So everyone's listening to this like, like you said David, like go call the people you love, go tell em you love them. Maybe pick one person today that you haven't maybe shown appreciation for, but you do appreciate them, but you're just so caught up in the day to day and just stop for a second and just tell them why you apprec. Appreciate them. That light is contagious. I think this is a small example of being a bright light shines and it shines on one person and then it can shine on 25000 people and then those lights can be shining in a Detroit Lions stadium where it says welcome to Ford Field, Harry. And there's a video from Sam LaPorta and Barry Sanders. It's contagious. It keeps going, it keeps going and you know it's not. I don't know if by next time this year Harry will be around and the way he communicates in the way he just interacts with people, you would, you would never ever know that.
C
Yeah, he deserved, he deserved the moment. Like you said, he deserved the moment because you know the reality is if and when he's not here, the fact that someone will, like our listeners are loyal listeners. Our listeners take things away. Our listeners, you know, whether they listen to you and I, which by they never have to. But some of them, you know, do have takeaways and their guests, they always do. Like someone will. Harry will change. Someone Harry will change and help a relationship. Harry will. Harry's impact will live far beyond just him being jolly Old Harry with his brother in law Dan and his, you know, his daughters and in his small circle that he's built in Detroit, shed light on that and maybe throw a life raft to people who need it sometimes in certain situations. So that's.
A
He's got three kids, I think seven grandkids. And to me it's like this chapter of his life has probably not, it's probably been a tough one, but I think about like he's creating a legacy change in his family because his grandkids are seeing that while he's in the hardest time of his entire life, he just continues to bring kind, thoughtful, positive energy to people and in that will live on so much longer than, than Harry. It'll live on to his kids, to his grandkids. It' live on in my life. And I think, you know, if all of us can think about trying to find the best in us to bring it forward, my God, what a different.
C
World it would be out there, you know, 100%. Well, kudos to you, kudos to Katherine, kudos to the Detroit Lions. Like you said, prime and proper. Kudos to them. Kudos to everybody involved in this. You know, I got a question for you, like, engagement wise on social media, at the end of the day, social media is a job for you. Is this one of the highest engagement posts that you've ever had? And what does it say about, you know, about this being the content and this is something that, as you think about business, as you kind of turn the page into the business side of this podcast, does it change the way that you view social media?
A
I mean, as far as like, what's been highly engaged content lately? Obvious, you know, that of course was great and it led to greatness. But what's funny enough is like the highest engaged content in the last month, probably honestly, the last year, year of mine has been Catherine and I dancing, just having a good time at the halftime show with a caption that said, let's go. I mean, that video, so weird. 10 million views, so annoying. But I think to me, what, as far as, just like when you talk about social media, when you look at, you know, I've been doing this now since 2018. It's a grind, it gets old. It's a growing business. When you look at me like, what are the moments you remember in social media? It's this by a long shot. Yeah, it's when, you know, I'm able to throw a story up there and we're able to raise, you know, $20,000 for government employees when the government was shut down for two months, right? It's when we're able to get eight dogs rescued from one post. Like, to me, that's what it's all about. And the more I think about my content, the more that's the stuff I want to be doing. Like, I've, I've done this for eight, nine years. I've made a lot of money doing it. I want to continue to be able to, you know, earn a living off it. But I, I'm much more focused on like, how do you use this platform to do good? Because there's just so much shit on social media now. Like, so think of how many times you scroll and you're just like, shit, shit, shit, shit. And you leave scrolling feeling terrible. You don't feel good about it. And for me it's like, how good does this feel? There's so many stories like that to share. So I don't know. I'd like to focus more on trying to do. Use the platform to do things that are special. And it has nothing to do with anything other than like, you fell ass backwards into this platform from going on a dating show. And to be able to use it, right? To be able to like touch a family like that and then learn from someone like that, to me is the most special. So we'll see what happens. We'll see what happens. But David, let's get into this. Yeah, Birthday's tomorrow. Valentine's Day was this past weekend. One thing I think people might find interesting as we transition more trading secrets. Some of the numbers Americans are slashing. Valentine's day spending by 44 in 2026. This was before the weekend. On a survey that was out there. The average person plans to spend 87 on their partner, which is down $155 from last year. That's according to coupon Follow. How about you, David? Did you spend less this year than last year?
C
Yeah, I spent way less. I did. I don't know if it was the two kid thing, but Ashley looked me dead in the eyes and says, you have to get me flowers. You can't get me anything else. And I looked at her and I said, if you get me anything with sweets, like, I don't need it anymore. So we had my parents in town. They babysat. We went out for dinner. We had a gift card that had been sitting collecting dust for two years that we used for dinner. The gift card was $200. I wasn't trying, I swear to God. The Bill came to $199.80 on a 200 gift card, sent a tip in cash and that was it. So I think my, our grand total from just tip and flowers for me was, flowers were like 45 bucks and the tip was 80 bucks and we had a nice dinner.
A
It was great. A well built wardrobe is about pieces that work together and hold up over time. That's what Quince does best. Premium materials, thoughtful design and everyday staples that feel easy to wear, easy to rely on even as the weather shifts. Quince has the everyday essentials I love with quality that lasts. Organic cotton sweaters, lighter jackets that will keep you warm and changing season. The list goes on. But here's the catch. Quince works directly with top factories and cuts out the middlemen. So you're not paying for the brand markup, just the quality of the clothing. Plus they only partner with factories that meet rigorous standards, with craftsmanship and ethical production. This is the thing that I absolutely love. I just got a coat from there that was so affordable and if I compared that to what it would cost for me to go in a retail store with the same quality coat, it's, it's astronomical. So here's what I'm going to tell you. Check it out for yourself. Refresh your wardrobe with Quince. Just go to quince.com trading secrets for free shipping on your order and 365 day returns. Now available in Canada too. That's Q-U-I-N-C-E.com tradingsecrets free shipping and 365 day returns. Quince.com tradingsecrets I think flowers and a handwritten card can go a long way.
C
100. Yep.
A
That's, that's interesting. I hope everyone had a good Valentine's Day. Your birthday's here. What do you think? Like, what do you, what are you looking the next year? Yeah. Or 40. What's, what's a theme for the year?
C
Yeah. I don't know. And I always have a theme. And all I've been thinking about turning 39 is 40 and I didn't think I'd be this guy, but I am thinking about 40 a ton. And I'm not necessarily scared or like anything. But the reason I'm thinking of 40 so much is my, my dad's 40th birthday party. I remember so vividly. I remember what he was wearing. I remember what I was wearing. I remember, you know, what we, how the night went, where he opened presents, how many people were there, what the house looked like that day vividly. And the fact that I'm now in that position and I have kids, my kids are younger than I was that day. But it's like I am old and that's okay. Like, I, I don't necessarily feel old or look old, but I probably felt exactly how my dad felt when he was 40. And just the visual perspective of like, life is moving really fast is really all I'm thinking about for my 39th birthday. And it has nothing to do with the number and more of the moment. And I put myself in those shoes as a 11 year old David, and I'm like, okay, life is moving really fast. So that's, that's what I'm feeling right now from, from my birthday.
A
Miles 39. Life is moving fast. What would you say, like at 39 years old, like, what's your biggest fear in life? In life?
C
Oh, yeah, I'm not gonna get too far into the weeds. But like, I, I have a very, very. I actually talked to my sister about this late night this week of like, I have a fear of like dying and I have a fear of, of what happens after that big time. Like, and I have faith. I, I want to really start investing back into my faith for the main reason of not having those moments where I live in fear of this and, and send myself in like a really like, scary place. But that, that's really it.
A
When you say that, you're saying like when you, when you die, which we all will, what you're, what your fear is is what happens after. Like, not.
C
Yeah, like black, like, like, like black and ringing in my ears. And that's it. For the eternity of, of life.
A
Yeah. I've never, that's like, maybe I'm crazy. I've never thought about that.
C
Good. Because I tried to not. And when I do, and I want to believe and I have, I've. I've gone to first communion, I've baptized, confirmed, like all that. And I, and I have a belief. I just need to really reinvest it as an adult with kids now and like really double, triple down on it because yeah, that's really it. That's really it. So I don't have any other fears. I don't have financial fears. I don't have fears of my marriage. I don't have fears of being a father. I don't have fears of how I'm going to spend the next 45 years of my life if I'm lucky enough to get that. Just whenever the finality is like, I love being alive. I love living, I love relationships. I love learning. I love listening. I love feeling joy, and I love feeling sadness because it means I'm alive. So I think, for me, like, that's the only fear that I have, period.
A
Yeah, for me, it's like the. I always think about the. I think about the fear of death a lot, but I don't think about the fear of death as in what happens to me after. I think about the fear of death of, like, what? Like, the current life that, like, keeps going. You know, you think about, like, I. Who you leave behind and how that keeps working and, like, you not being in there. Like, that's. That's, like.
C
I think that girl.
A
I have a fear of, like, dying before I have a kid. Like. Like, not like, I want to be married. I want to have kids. I want to, like, have grandkids. Like, the fear of, like, not being able to, you know, live the life to see all that is what terrifies me.
C
I think, though, like, the fact that there's mediums out there who, like, can speak to, like, people who have passed and, like, it's like, I believe in that stuff. I really do. I have experiences with it where I believe in it. I'm like, okay, this is. This is the. I just need to really dive into it and just, you know, stop have having insecurity behind it and just dive into it. So maybe 39 is the year I kick my faith back into gear.
A
Okay.
C
Carter's enrolling in a Catholic School pre 3k next September, so I gotta dive in there with them.
A
Okay, dive in. Do what you gotta do. 39 sounds like it's gonna be a big one for you. Happy birthday, David Ardoin. Let's transition something a little lighter.
C
Yes, please.
A
Yes. Can we please listen? Bright episode. It's been a dark one. Lighter.
E
All right.
A
One of the most trending things right now, everywhere, the Olympics, I mean, you're seeing. There's, like, the quad God, there's the cheating scandal. There's all kinds of stuff going on. There's the favorite food, apparently, condom shortages. There's a lot of action in the Olympics. Are you watching it? What do you think? It's.
C
I'm locked in. We talked how I wasn't seeing anything, and now I'm locked in. There's nothing quite like having the Olympics on every day. And as someone who works in professional sports, I think it's the coolest thing of all time that the people who are watching competing, it's not like they just. They're just, like, doing out of hobby, like, this is their entire lives, and they get once every four years. And it may seem like what we're watching curling, we're watching the biathlon. They. They ski and then they shoot targets. We're watching the luge, and it's like, yeah, we are. And these people have given their entire life to this, and it's awesome.
A
All right, here's a little finance money question. As it comes to the Olympics, the number one country. Okay, what countries pay different amounts for the athletes that get a gold, a silver, or a bronze? What do you think the number one amount a country is paying for a citizen that wins a gold medal at the Olympics? What is that amount?
C
I want to say it's not a million, but I want to say it's. It's got. I'm hoping it's like a gold medal in the country. I'm hoping it's like, at least 250k.
A
Singapore, $788,000. If you're a citizen of Singapore and you win a gold medal. Coming in second place is Hong Kong. 768, 7,000. Huge drop off. In third place, Italy, 213,000. Poland, 211,000. Slovenia, which is a beautiful country, 162,000. In 15th place, United States, 37,500. If you win a gold medal in the U.S. if you win a silver medal and you're a U.S. citizen, 22,500. And if you win a bronze medal, $15,000, which is kind of interesting.
C
Yeah. And I'm happy that the social media world exists, because there's another avenue for some of these athletes to make money. And I think it's so important when you get this opportunity. Four years, like, you're over there competing, which is the main thing. But what else are you doing? What relationships are you making? What content are you putting out there? What else are you doing for your brand and yourself? Something things we talk about all the time because it needs to be done. And like, you talked about the quad God. Like, if the quad God doesn't have some type of, like, short slide or boxers or lie or come on, like. But what an opportunity for that guy having a personality on top of just being like, a elite, elite athlete.
A
Do you know any Olympians?
C
Bishop Carney, the school that I work for, that I run the boys hockey program, they have. We have eight alumni on the girls side in the Olympics.
A
Wait, what is going on with the men's hockey?
C
No, it's. It's standard right now. All the prelims.
A
Is Canada favored to win all the Prelims are done.
C
Canada US Are going to be in the quarterfinals. I don't think they're gonna see each other until the finals. If they both make it. It's exciting. The teams are playing great. It's electric.
A
So what else is trending on your algorithm right now?
C
In. On. In social. On Tick tock social. Epstein files. Not to bring it back to darkness.
A
We gotta stay in the brightness. But like, I know, it's. It's insane.
E
It's.
C
I mean, we could. It's 30. Maybe it's a 30 minute Thursday episode because I can't, I can't go there right now.
A
But it's not today. Like, what? Yeah, yeah, just pause here because there's just too much to unpack and if we start touching it, it's gonna be what the. All right, all right.
C
Change topic. Taylor. Frankie Paul is played at the.
A
What? He is. I saw her playing at the NBA All Star Game.
C
Celebrity.
A
It's different this year, dude. It's. This is a whole. This whole. There's, there's something going on here that's very different with the social media element, the promo, the marketing. You know, she's playing in that massive game. And I think what we're seeing here, what Disney and ABC is doing, which is brilliant, is they're kind of copying the Netflix model, right? Netflix model is, you know, even their scripted shows, right? So they're, they're limited series shows. You have the same actors and actresses who are like blowing up on Netflix. They'll go to different shows, right? With unscripted. The same. So there's a whole like Netflix family and they'll take people and they'll move them over to different shows. We're now seeing that with abc. I think you got Secret Lives of Mormon Wives, Dancing with the Stars, Dancing with the Stars spin off. And I think you're going to continue to see that movement. With ABC shows, you see people that go on Dancing with the Stars as celebs. They now move into different elements. So this new Dancing with the Stars show that I just, I don't know, I just read something. I know nothing from an insider perspective, but it looks like they're saying, like Robert Irwin might be hosting this new show. So it's like, I think you're starting to see that movement and it'll be fascinating to see what happens with this season of Bachelorette. C
Secrets free are you gonna watch When's the last time you be honest? Like, when's the last time you watched.
A
A season Joey season? I haven't watched anything since then. Okay, you wanna, you wanna watch and maybe cover it?
C
We gotta watch and cover 30 minute Thursdays. It's gonna happen. We're gonna get on and we're gonna not like, can I challenge you, Jay? Sure. Can we, can we actually recap the Bachelorette and like really give our honest thoughts and not like worry like have a little bit of like, ABC is going to come after me and I gotta hold them in good graces because I got dumped in front of national TV eight years ago on their show.
A
That's fair. That's fair. All right, let's see what we can do. I mean, I gotta play, I'll play by the rules. But we'll, we could, we could dabble.
C
Okay. I think we need to dabble. I think that like we've said before, I think they're, I think they're. When you put Taylor, Frankie Paul on, I actually think she's. We had the emergency episode with Kelly which was electric when she got announced. You know, obviously we're seeing a lot more like you said, presence on social media and strategy behind it. I think that she's gonna be entertaining and good. I think that they want ABC by choosing her wants clicks, want people talking about the show. So I think we gotta talk about the show and maybe not worry about it being so PC maybe and just really give our honest opinions about it.
E
All right.
A
I think it would be really fun too, is we talk obviously about money and career on this podcast. But I feel like on the first season we got. We gotta like first episode, we do our research, we break down the first impressions. I want to see the actual careers of these people, what they're doing, the age. And now more than ever we can answer the question, are they there for the right reason? Because you know that there's a massive platform on this, this season, unlike others. So yeah.
C
And the right. And the right. And the right reason might be does he have a capability having a career in social media after this? Maybe that is the new right reason.
A
Maybe it is. Maybe it isn't what social media will look like in a year from now. I don't know. There's. There's a lot of action here. Are you watching Summer House at all or. No?
C
No.
A
Okay.
C
Summer House is dead. Sorry.
A
That's great.
C
Summer House. It's.
D
It's.
C
It's tough because we already know about the breakup up and obviously of Kyle and Amanda. And I don't really need to see it play out on tv. When I think that it's not genuine. I think it's almost like scripted where they knew they were breaking up. And so it's timing wise of the announcement. Kind of had to wait for the show to build up. Like I. When Paige left, I think the show took a hit. And I think with this is like, I think. I think Summer House is done. I think we're moving on from Summer House. What do you think about that? Am I wrong? Am I an idiot?
A
I just can't figure out what's in. There's too much right now. It's like what I see happening is that there's this stage just everyone's on the stage and then like certain people are rising and when they're rising, I'm not really. I'm still. I'm still trying to understand the why behind the rising. But the stage is so big and there's so many people on stage, so I can't figure out what's in. It felt like Summer House last year was massive. It was everywhere. I don't know if the Olympics. Olympics have an impact. I don't. It's hard for me to really get connected with like, what the hell is happening? But I went and I was like, what is trending right now? I did a whole Google search on what's trending.
C
And you got the Olympics, you got super bowl, you got Traders, you got Summer House, you got NBA All Star Game, you got Epstein Files, you got. I mean, you got a lot of stuff. In the pop culture.
A
I'll give you the top trends. 2026 Winter Olympics. Maya Hawk. Don't know who Tyler Reddit is trending more. Olympics is President's Day a federal holiday is currently trending. NBA All Star the hunting party is it. They're just like USA versus German hockey is trending right now. Chinese New Year 2026. But there's Jake Paul. What the hell is Jake Paul trending for? What those. He's.
C
Well, he's, he's engaged to the, to the girl, the one who won and he was electric in the stands. He's crying like, like a. He's proud. Proud fiance. It was amazing.
A
Yeah, it's beautiful. It actually did.
C
Yeah, it's, it's. I need to bring it back to Harry. I need something trending in this world that we feel good about and that's why I do love the Olympics. It brings back a little bit of joy and cheering for the common person in something that they've dedicated their life to and there's emotion attached to that and I love that aspect of the Olympics.
A
Yeah, I think we're looking for, I think everyone's looking for a little feel good story right now. It feels like there's just a lot happening in the world in our lives. Feels like things are heavier moving towards a little bit of robotics. So to like get some emotion tied to things is beautiful. David, I'm going to go over a couple finance things. Tell me if any of these land with you. We just got a US inflation report. It's at 2.4% in January 2026. So inflation is slowing down a little bit. The Fed Reserve's target's 2% so it's still above what they're expecting. Interest rates for anyone out there. 30 year rates right now according to Nerdwall, at 5.82%. 15 year rates are at 5.34%. What's interesting about the residential space, the real residential real estate space is that market inventory is up 10% but it's still about 20% lower than pre pandemic level. So when you have limited supply, that kind of controls pricing to either stabilize or go up. But I don't know in general I've been, I'm going to look for more houses Thursday. It feels like there's a lot of random stuff happening in the residential space and it feels very subjective to where you are actually living in the United States. One big one right now is that the, the average APR for credit cards is like 20 to 25% and total credit card debt has never been this high. It's about 1.1 to $1.2 trillion. The other thing with credit card debt is we are seeing delinquencies move hot. Late payments are starting to trend up from past Covid lows. So we're starting to see late payments are moving up and up and up right now and delinquencies are moving up. So we'll see what happens with that. But those are the things that are really connecting when I look at what's, what's trending in finance. The big thing is markets are up, but people are still feeling this like invisible pain that no one's talking about when it comes to spending, saving and stagnant wage growth. So do any of those land with you?
C
A lot of them land with me. You know, inflation. 2.6% lands with me on a work wise. We just sent our contracts to our returning families at my hockey academy and they're subject to a 3% increase over a year. So to go with inflation. So I feel good about that. Loving my 2.9% mortgage interest rate. When you're saying those 30 year fixed numbers, it just makes me feel good about something financially, which is very rare for me. And so a lot of those things are landing me and I am still one of those people, like you said, who's still kind of flowing in. Those like, you know, post Covid inflation, you know, tides where, you know, markets are up. But I'm still fighting to stay alive here. So I think a lot of people resonate with that and they're just trying to do their best.
A
They're trying to do their best. Well, David, this was fun. Chopping it up with a nice little Sunday. Happy birthday. Big year coming up. Three, nine. John Gurney, as you're editing this, we're still waiting on you to give us potential. Still waiting on you to give us some podcast availability so we could do a jta. Boy, am I excited for this jta. So much to unpack in the content space. My God.
C
Yeah, we are. I'm gonna tease a JTA question. I was gonna ask it here, but for John's gonna fire away.
A
What is it?
C
Well, I was gonna say you asked me about Valentine's Day. It's so nice of you. I didn't get a chance to ask you back. I was just gonna ask you. Not about what you spent on Valentine's Day. I was gonna ask you how you feel on this Valentine's Day.
A
And I'm real quick on spending. I did.
C
Yeah.
A
Just been Going and going and going. I bought super bowl tickets, by the way.
C
Oh, you did?
A
This is. Yeah. Bought super bowl tickets. I'll give you the breakdown. This little jta, Typically, the Super bowl tickets are connected into deals that we didn't see as much happen this year, but it happened, just not as much. When I went there, I had deals that put me in around. I made about 50, 55 grand that weekend from deals. And then the super bowl tickets were. I bought them 20 minutes before kickoff, 24 hours before. They're 9, 800 a piece. I got them for 32.50 each fee. So it was around 7 grand for two tickets. Worth it, everybody.
E
Wow.

Dude, look at this episode. Harry and I met Harry. I know. I know. Every single penny. It was worth it. Everybody had so much fun. Unbelievable. And then as far as, like, how I'm feeling, man, I. I've never felt better. Like, I just, like, I'm so happy. I feel so excited about, like, my life and where it's going. And when you have a partner that just brings out the best in you and you bring out the best in them. Like, independently, I've grown so much as a person to be able to find someone like Catherine. But then for where I'm at, I'm just so happy on my own. But to be able to share that with someone that is so special, it's like. It's truly. It's a dream come true.
C
All right, so I'm gonna propose something, and it's up to John Gurney to make it happen. Okay, we're gonna fly down. Today's Sunday night. We're gonna fly down. My birthday is Tuesday.
A

C
Yeah. No, that's just. I'm a representative of. Let's. Let's do it, though.
A
So I'm going out there. Can't wait. Let's go. And then Catherine's getting her wisdom teeth out Tuesday. So can we do like a Thursday?
C
Okay. John Gurney. John Gurney. Get a studio space. Get a studio space so I can fly there so we can have a jta.
A
I agree. Did this Valentine's Day.
C
And my pitch was the recap of jta. Should be me, you, Catherine, and Ashley.
E
Oh, wow.
A
Let's go.
C
I love it.
D
Okay.
C
All right. So that's, that's the pitch. So John Gurney, that's on you to deliver John Gurney.
A
Don't it up. Anything else you got, David?
C

Podcast: Trading Secrets
Host: Jason Tartick (Audioboom Studios)
Guests: Harry, Dan, Co-host David
Date: February 16, 2026
In this special episode, Jason Tartick spotlights an unexpectedly viral and heartwarming moment from the 2026 Super Bowl, featuring lifelong Detroit Lions fans Harry and Dan. What started as a chance encounter blossomed into a story about the power of human connection, the ripple effects of kindness, and the importance of perspective in life—set amidst Harry’s battle with inoperable cancer. The conversation explores not only the viral nature of their story and the outpouring from the Detroit Lions and the community, but also broader themes of gratitude, resilience, the meaning of legacy, and how moments like these remind us of the strength of humanity.
“There’s so much bullshit and commentary at the Super Bowl. ... Can we just enjoy something for once?” – Jason, [06:38]
“It’s such a reminder that in times of darkness, someone like that can be the brightest light for everyone around him.” – Jason, [08:24]
“There’s so much good in a day ... Try to put negativity behind you and look at what’s in front of you that’s positive. I love life, and I’m lucky to enjoy the best of it. Nothing’s perfect... but gosh darn it, friends and family—it’s great. I am so lucky, I can’t stand it.” – Harry, [12:49]
“Everybody loves Harry. He treats everybody with respect and love, and he wants them to have a great day.” – Dan, [13:39]
“They don’t question a thing. If I can’t work, just call in; you come back when you can. These are the people I work for, which makes my life even so much happier.” – Harry, [15:00]
“We're going to go, you and I.” – Dan, [18:11]
"It's hard to accept lavish gifts... It was overwhelmingly wonderful and kind." – Harry, [18:57]
“The power of humanity is unmatched... and to kind of connect with that, you have to see positivity in life.” – Jason, [21:07]
“Kindness begets kindness; it just keeps rolling forward.” – Harry, [21:51]

Central Takeaway:
Small, genuine moments—acts of kindness, thoughtfulness, and connection—can shine immense light, ignite wider movements of compassion, and inspire us to see every day as a gift.
Listener Call to Action:
Put down your phone, call your loved ones, tell them you appreciate them. Consider one person today who deserves to hear how much they matter.
“That light is contagious. ... You could shine in a Detroit Lions stadium where it says ‘Welcome to Ford Field, Harry.’ ... It keeps going and you never know who it touches.” – Jason, [29:45]
This episode exemplifies what’s possible when attention is directed toward real people and their stories. Harry’s philosophy—seeing good in each day, staying kind, and living with gratitude—serves as a timely reminder in an era of distraction and superficiality. The impact made in a single, authentic moment can stretch far beyond what’s expected, touching countless lives and reminding us all about the power and necessity of humanity.
