Welcome back to another episode. Scratch that. This is new. This is different. We're going to need an new intro. We're going to need a new intro song rebranding because we are here we with 30 Minute Thursdays. This is the first episode we've ever done. We might do one, we might do hundreds. But there is just so much to talk about in life, what's happening in the world, economic policy, the things you need to know for your wallet, your careers, your loved lives, all the moving parts. There's so much to cover and we just can't do it one episode every Monday with a phenomenal guest. So we are going to start 30 minute Thursdays. It's going to be 30 minutes start to finish, David's already hit the clock. We will never go over 30 minutes unless there are ads that are baked in and we can't control it. But only 30 minutes of us talking. We'll see what happens. David, this is the first 30 minute Thursday ever. What are you thinking? What do you want to make sure we cover today?
David Arn
First off, it feels good to graduate from the recaps into something that we've been talking about for a while and I'm excited to give it to the people. And you mentioned a lot in there and we only have 30 minutes, so I hope to, I hope that we can just at least hit on as many of those things as you talked about. And really what this is about is what we feel is important for our personal lives, what our viewers need to know. We'll toss in some pop culture, we'll toss in some hot takes, some low takes. We'll maybe touch on some pop culture, some news, some business. Does that sound like what you're thinking, Jay?
Jason Turk
That sounds like what I'm thinking. There's just too much to cover and we need to do it outside of a guest. So I think for today what we're going to do, we're going to get a call in from a viewer, just have someone that's a fan of the podcast ask us a money question. We'll get both of our opinions. I think we need to do a little bit of follow up from jta, maybe a little behind the scenes, maybe some more of the personal items, the vulnerability stuff. We didn't really touch on as much in JTA because it was very business. And then there is a whole lot to cover here in pop culture this week. So we'll touch on just a little bit of that. So I think where we start, David, jta, what do you think?
David Arn
Yeah, and you just mentioned it a little bit. The behind the scenes of JTA this year was, was different and hilarious and all the things. So we had the podcast studio at 7:15 and I think you landed at 6:48 Ash and I come to pick you up because we, you didn't have time to get the rental car. Buffalo airport bus. Busiest I've ever seen the airport. We pull up to get, you're crossing the crosswalk, you're loading your bag in the car in the very left lane and take it from there. Jay, what happens from there?
Jason Turk
Oh my God. So I load my bag up. I've been to thousands of airports thousands of times and this lady's screaming at me, you can't do that you can't do that. You need to keep traffic going. I'm like, my bag's in. I just gotta get in the car. If you get in that car, I'm writing you a ticket. What the is going on here? So David is laughing his ass off. David pulls over. I go to the side of the curb, I get in the car. Then we rush to the studio. We only have an hour to film JTA because we're filming with Haley the Olympian, and there's six people in this room. There was a little bit of a cluster with technology. Like, the room was hotter than hell. It was 100 degrees in there. And what's interesting, behind the scenes, when you're podcasting, like, vibe is so important. Like, the energy of calm, the energy of staying focused, the energy of everyone around you. Like, we had just had too many people in the room. The temperature was too hot. We were moving too fast. But that being said, all the feedback I've got is the episode was amazing. David, you did a great job, and it was a very business focused episode. It was like, boom, we're in the boardroom.
David Arn
It was. And to see your energy year over year from being in that room compared to being in that room last year, doing the same episode, and just you were back on your. Like, you were back to, like, you and answering questions with veracity and passion and give it to me. What's the next one? What's the next one? Wait, David, hold up. I'm not done yet. It was awesome. And to know that Ashley and Catherine were in the other room having a couple high noons, get to know each other, and then we all got to go out and have a fun night that we don't get to normally do ever. And that was a nice cherry on top of a great JT episode. But, yeah, it was business because you were in it. You were in the business. I didn't get to get all the feels questions, so I'm gonna hit you with a couple feels questions.
Jason Turk
Let's go. It's 30 minute Thursday. Time is ticking. We're already three, four minutes into it. Give me the questions that you wish you would have asked then. Even though.
David Arn
All right. Outside of the business and outside of your relationship, what is. Would you say one of the things that maybe rocked your world the most that you experienced in 2025, on a personal level, emotional level, I think one
Jason Turk
that honestly shaped me the most is I'm still wearing the bracelet. Why not us? That Evan Saar got me, you, him, and Hawk.
David Arn
Yeah.
Jason Turk
And so with this bracelet, if anyone can see it, it says, why not us? And the thought behind it was one of our best buddies, dad got diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and his odds of beating it were extreme low single digits. And the whole thesis, the whole theme of his treatment was why not us? Aligning with the fact, like, why can't he be? Why can't their family be? Why can't their best of friends be part of what is only a single digit miracle? And that was what we kept along. We would get updates from him. Oh God, it fucks me up talking about it. But we would get updates from him weekly. Something was going on and it'd be like, why not us? Keep strong, keep positive. Unfortunately, he passed away. And like when I go back to 2025, man, that, that celebration of life was one of the most beautiful celebrations of life, the most beautiful celebration of life I've really ever seen. The amount of people that poured in, hundreds and hundreds of people in a small city like Rochester, New York, the impact that he made and his family made and that his son has made on us through the person he is so extraordinary. And nothing put things in perspective for me in 2025 more than the passing of him and just learning from it. And it impacted a lot of our friends. Like it changed the way I look at life. But one of our friends in particular, without calling out names, we know that he is now going to move back to Rochester because he's. I'm focused on so much, which is great, but I just need to focus on putting my family in the best community to like build family and friends and not happy where I'm living. So for me it was that. It was a deep, deep moment. When I talk about this, David, you and I were there shoulder to shoulder the whole time. What's coming up for you? What are you thinking?
David Arn
You put the nail on the head there. That whole. I remember us sitting at the Pittsford pub reflecting right after we all found out the news originally and met hawk out. And we made the non negotiable life weekend just for the four of us to be like, hey, we're getting together every year on this weekend. Non negotiable. And that's when we came down to Nashville that year just to remind ourselves how short life is. So making sure that you're making, we can say all these things and it impacted us. But what change are you making? What action are you putting into your life to make sure that it's being felt? And that was one of the small things. And then we've talked on this podcast a lot about the fragility of life. And you live away from your parents. I live away from my parents. We've talked about the countdown of our parents are getting older and when you see them, it's great. But is that the 11th last time I'll see them? And we all knew Peter so well and how happy and healthy, hard working he was. And for his life to be taken so quickly and so undeservingly was really. It rocked all of our worlds. But to keep it general for everybody else up there too, like you're. When they say your funerals to the greatest thing about your funerals, to see who will show up, to know how many people showed up, I. It was empowering not just for that moment, but I think as we talk legacy and we talk how we want to be viewed and handle our lives like that, that is the reflection of it. And it's something that I know I carry into my day to day and memory, remembering that feeling that all those people were to give to that family during that time. It's important. How you treat each other is important. The legacy you live is important. It's. Creating a family is important. It's. It really rocked home for sure.
Jason Turk
Yeah. And when you say that, I know a theme that you live by is choices. There's so little we can control in this life, but what we can control are our choices, who we end up with and what we do and how we do it and the impact we make. And yeah, one of the biggest things from that experience was just like the idea of reverse engineering, like thinking backwards. Like when you're on your deathbed, when your time is to go, what are the things that matter most? And working towards those. And it's so easy to get caught up in the day to day of life and just to take a pause and think about that is, is, is crazy. And so for me that was like, that was my biggest one. But if you're cool with that, I'd like to also transition to just this idea of like choices. Like if now my brain's running a little bit.
David Arn
But yeah, I think about turning minute Thursdays. Let it run, baby. That's what we're here for, dude.
Jason Turk
It's just crazy. I don't know if you've ever read books and stuff, but they say like Freakonomics talks about whatever your parents decide to name you has a huge impact on your mother or like the theories of whatever you order to drink will have an impact on Your life like at a restaurant. Because there's just a domino effect of, okay, you order this drink. It took that long to get it. Now you're earlier for this. You here. Like, it's crazy. I think about things in life are just supposed to happen the way they are. And when that mailman left two dog treats on my door. And as a result of that, I'm with John Gertie. I'm like, we need to go volunteer. And I show up to Wags, and that story's coming next week because Katherine's on the podcast. But I get introduced, this unbelievable rescue, this beautiful person that has taught me so much about how to be a better person. And then you meeting Teddy. I walked in there, David. We talked about it, like, I'm not staying in Nashville. And a year later, I have the dog from walking in there. I'm dating Catherine. We're moving in together on our way to the next steps of life, of building a family. And it's just crazy. Like, life is supposed to work out the way it should, and you're going to learn from the hardships. And then you've said it so many times, just on this episode, last episode, you're a different person, and I'm a different person because I've done the work, but I'm also a person because of the people in my life and Catherine being one of them and Teddy, too, as crazy as is, like, giving that type of significance to a puff is like kind of a wild thing. Some people might roll their eyes, but like those two people with me also doing the work have shaped the entirety of the clarity and confidence and comfort and lightness I carry every day. And like that, to me, is so important in everything from 2025 that's meaningful.
David Arn
I was gonna just say turning the page on the story of Hawk's father passing to what was the most rewarding moment or instance, I think you just answered it there. And at the end of the day, yeah. There's a million questions that I could ask you for the people about JTA in your 2025, but I think those two answers of those questions, the JTA itself has encapsulated the point. You've come full circle in 2025. I think when we play the trailers from each year to each year to see how accurate or unaccurate or how much you may think you don't know or how much you may be able to plan for. Like, you not staying in Nashville wasn't just a chapter in the book. I think it was A title of the book, it was the name of the movie. And then the sequel never happened because the production got scrapped, which we'll talk about later with some other production getting scrapped, but that was it. And life is a beautiful way like that because like you said, everything happens for a reason. And all we can do is own the choices that we make. And the choices that we make, sometimes we don't know where they're leading to, but you got to own them along the way. And yeah, I thought JTA was special, man. It was great. And it was like I said, it was good to see you in that energy, in that room where. Thank you for saying I did a great job, but I thought I didn't have to do much this year, the last couple years. I really feel like I had to pull something out of you or get some things out there where this was more just. I actually felt like a host to someone who was ready to come in there and answer some hard hitting questions, but also enlighten everybody and the listeners on their business. And that's what you did. And I think it achieved what we look for it to achieve every year, which is put you in the hot seat, make you vulnerable with your finances, make you vulnerable with things that are happening in your life, have checks and balances for you say are going to happen or what you try and do and make sure to see if you follow up on that. So I thought it served his purpose for sure.
Jason Turk
Yeah, absolutely. You nailed it. It was a beautiful year in 2025. You did a great job with JTA, mom, dad, brother in law, Catherine. The pups are healthy and happy. There's new chapters happening, parents are going through retirement, maybe we'll get them to relocate here, who knows. But in general, 2025 was a beautiful year. You did a great job rec. I'm so excited for what 2026 brings and I think that's a good way to put a bow on the most special year of my life, 2025. Is that a good, good way to wrap it up? Throw the bow on there, Wrap it
David Arn
up, throw the bone away. We actually followed through with something which is a 30 minute Thursday which is already a step in the right direction. So you can see that we're about it, that we're changing. And now J, it sounds like you're gonna do a call in episode which is something we've talked about for five years.
Jason Turk
Yeah.
David Arn
So I've never heard this.
Jason Turk
There are so many questions people have, David. Credit cards, love, money, fraud, all this stuff. So we have a Trading Secrets listener who called in. We're only going to do one today. David, I think the cool thing about this is you give your perspective of life, I'll give my perspective of finances. Not sure exactly what the question is, but. Okay, why don't we. Why don't we give it a go? You ready?
David Arn
Let's do it.
Jason Turk
The first ever Trading Secrets Money Mafia. Full calling. Here we go.
Brooke
Hi, this is Brooke. Big fan of the show. I have a question for Jason. I would love the thoughts of curious Canadian as well. Long story short, I was in a long term relationship. We own a home together. We are both on the title, but the mortgage is under his name and locked in at a low interest rate. I currently am staying in the house, he is not and I cover the full mortgage. And so I'm curious just considering next steps. I want to make the best financial decision for myself, but also a healthy decision for my next chapter. So curious if you guys have any advice from a financial perspective, but also just your personal advice on this.
Jason Turk
David, why don't you fire away? Because I got a lot from a finance perspective.
David Arn
Yeah, you fire away from the finance perspective. I'm gonna fire away from just the gut reaction perspective. Something tells me something's not right there. If his name is on the title and she's paying the full mortgage, I feel like she's investing for him in a sense, which is something that doesn't really add up to me in terms of breaking up amicably. Now it's nice for him to give her the home if that's something that we're calling nice, but then not nice to stick her with the full mortgage. If, and you're going to correct me if I'm wrong, if his name is on the title and both of their names are on the mortgage, if they sell the house, does he get all the money from the house? So that's where I'm going to just. That's where I'm going to kick it
Jason Turk
to you there because I'm curious on your opinion stuff. But here's the thing. So technically she is in the driver's seat, right? Because she could just not pay the mortgage and she could own the house. It doesn't sound like that's the type of person she is. So as far as worrying about her liability, there's not liability because you're on the title. As far as the mortgage goes, it sounds like they kept it in his name because if they transition it to another name or have to do any type of Big update of that nature. They might be triggered to then have a new interest rate. And it sounds like they're locked in a low interest rate. Here's the one thing I find interesting. And David, I want your, like, relationship advice, but you have to. The more you break up and the more time happens and things happen and people move on and you heal, it's harder to stay very amicable and even friendly. Great if you, you can. But that creates some sort of inherent risk. The only big problem I have with this is one, I think within a certain period of time, you got to find some sort of resolve because life is going to keep moving and you're going to keep moving and you're going to have to close the chapter. But there's so many moving factors there like the cost and affordability and how people are earning and what is he doing? Where is he living? There's so many things we don't know. But I think within a year or two, you probably want this wrapped up. Latest, the biggest thing I'm thinking is if you are paying the full mortgage, your ownership, as you continue to pay the mortgage should start to increase. So if you guys were 50, 50, and now every month you're paying the principal, so the actual equity in the house and the interest that he would have been paying otherwise, you then have, Even if it's 51, 49, you should have more ownership pro rata. We could do the equation to figure it out, but that would be my biggest piece of advice. But David, I don't need the finance expertise from you. I'm just curious, what do you think breakup happens, you still got the mortgage. What are your, what's your thing?
David Arn
My gut says you gotta just sell the house. My gut says you're in this thing. You have the question you're asking my advice, get yourself out of the question. Sell the house. He's clearly in a new house. You can sell the house, take your portion, you're 50, 50 in it. Get out of the house. You don't got memories in there. Let me kick it to a guy who was once engaged, who had to live in the house after his engagement failed. What's that like?
Jason Turk
Getting out of the house is smart. I think that's smart. Closing the chapter. The only finance thing you have to consider is we now know with that interest rate being low, that means the entry point of the house is probably low. And today real estate has boomed. So if you get out of the house, the biggest question you got to ask yourself is, where are you going? And can you afford that? Her mortgage on this house might actually be less than renting certain places. So I think emotionally, if you can afford to get out of the house, that's the best thing to do. But you have to factor in, if you can also have the affordability, a lot of moving parts in this one. This is the definition of love equals money.
David Arn
There's also a cost to having to live in the house and feel the energy of that person. So I hear what you're saying and I agree with it. You have to be able to afford to rent if you're in this situation. But there's also, there's a cost to move on.
Jason Turk
Right?
David Arn
And we need to pay that cost to move on. Because if we don't, we're stuck. And we don't want to be stuck. We want to be moved on. So there you go. There's my opinion on that situation. Get out of the goddamn mortgage, sell the goddamn house. Let him go. Move into his place. You deserve your own place. Who knows what the hell he's doing in that place. Go do whatever you want in your own place. Get those memories, get those things faded away. That's my 2 cents on that from
Jason Turk
the finance guy in the Curious Canadian. You there have your answer, so we'll see. I said love equals, doesn't equal money, but this is an example of where love and money ties wild webs and it's so important to get ahead of it and be on the same page. So you heard our opinions. I'm curious what yours are back home. Give us five stars and let us know what you guys think Brooke should do. David, we got about it looks like we're 20 minutes into the 30 minute Thursday. Where do you want to take the last third of the show?
David Arn
I guarantee there's someone out there that's I got a question. How do I submit them for 30 minute Thursdays?
Jason Turk
Yes. So first of all, follow Trading Secrets podcast page, follow my page and you can send us an email with a voice note trading secrets@jasonturk.com or we're going to have a voicemail hotline that you can doubt. You can literally click the button, pay attention on social and record your message in or we're going to get to a point when I build the studio of actually having live call ins as opposed to recorded ones. So just I would say for right now, follow our social and if you have questions, put them into Trading secrets@jason tarek.com. david, we got a third left this 30 minute Thursday.
David Arn
What are you thinking we can't do 30 minute Thursdays to talk about the most relevant pop culture things that are going on in the world and not talk about the elephant in the room. The Bachelorette. What happened? Current, past, future. We can do this a couple ways. You can give your take, you can give my take, you can give your take. Almost. Here's what I want, maybe a little behind the scenes of as this has happened, how it's maybe impacted your life in ways of people coming at you, asking for things, doing things, etc. Etc. Maybe give your two cents on that. Is that fair?
Jason Turk
Here's what I'll say. Here's what I'll say on the whole scenario with Taylor, Frankie, Paul and the Bachelorette, which is what you're clearly talking about. I have been asked at this point to go live on CNN TV, live on Fox, CNN, live on Fox TV, live on Fox and Friends, and live on the Today show.
David Arn
Okay, wow.
Jason Turk
Shows, television shows. Reach out to comment on this. I'll tell you, with all of them, I was very appreciative. They reached out with all of them. I declined.
David Arn
Okay.
Jason Turk
And behind the scenes, the thought process of that is that's a ring I'm not getting into. That's a ring I wouldn't even buy a ticket to show up and watch. That's a ring I don't even want to get near the stadium. It's salacious, it's layered, and I want nothing to do with it. So that's my take. And obviously that's layered from my perspective and my experience being on the show and all the moving parts with that. So that's my take. That's why I passed. You're not from the show. You're not from the franchise. This is our platform. So I'll give you the floor to say what you think you got to say. But that's my take.
David Arn
I was on one episode of the Bachelorette when I came and surprised you on a date. So I actually have more Bachelorette episodes under my belt than Taylor, Frankie, Paul herself. So I actually am considering myself an expert in this.
Jason Turk
Wait, I wonder, have you ever heard of what IMDb is?
David Arn
Yeah. Oh, yeah.
Jason Turk
I. I like, wonder if David Arn has. Season. What season was that season?
David Arn
Season six. Season 23, episode six, 41 minute. Mark. I don't know. I'm not. I don't really. I'm not. Not. No, listen, I'm gonna give my take because I think it's an opportunity to talk about it for us. And I think everything that's playing out. If you go back and listen, the last time we did a weekday episode was me, you and Kelly and we did an emergency press conference announcement that when they named Taylor Frankie Paul the Bachelorette and we had crazy concerns like I think Kelly hit the nail on the head with a couple different things and she said it would be good for ratings, but she, if the roles were reversed, she would never go on the show in the situation. So at the end of the day, it's sad. It's extremely sad. It's sad for Taylor Frankie Paul, for her life because people have challenged in these lives and this is something that a lot of people are resonating with because they've been in abusive, toxic relationships. So I feel sad that it's being put on this level because I can't imagine how hard it is for that. Sad for their kids. It's sad for the contestants that took time out of their personal lives to be on the show. It's sad for the producers and the hundreds of people that have taken away time for their families and bust their ass to put a season on. So it's sad. And it's also sad that the state of the franchise has gotten to this point where this is what we're talking about. So that's my long winded answer. Whether anyone wanted to hear it or not, I don't know. But that's the point of 30 minute Thursdays.
Jason Turk
That's the point of 30 minute Thursdays. And most importantly, it's sad for the kids. Salacious, sad. It's very layered and like you said, there's a lot of things happening in this whole situation that are quite triggering for a lot of of people.
David Arn
Hot off the press, though.
Jason Turk
Hot off the press. What do we got?
David Arn
I just read before we logged on that ABC is thinking of reboot. I don't know if it was a fake article or not. Rebooting Bach rat Live season instead of a recorded season with Mara Higgins being the lead.
Jason Turk
She would be an incredible lead.
David Arn
She would be an incredible lead. She's got the Love Island Experience hosting contestant. She can call people out. She's got the accent. She falls for people like she fell for Rob and she got blindsided at the end when he was a trader on Traders. She would be electric. So if they pivoted to this, I would understand why. But that was hot off the press. What's your gut say on that?
Jason Turk
There's so many moving parts is how do you do it? Do you have different cast? Is it same cast? How fast do you do it even if it is, if it's live, like, how do you set it up that quick? I don't know. I don't know. I think what we'll have to do is there's too many curveballs here. It would take too many crystal balls to try and predict into the future of what they do. I think it'll just be interesting to see what comes next. What comes next is the question and I think there's a lot of opinions on when it should come. Does it need to be immediate or do you need to take a little breather? A lot of moving parts there. But yeah, I don't think we should predict it. I think we should wait to see what happens and then comment on it. But I think she would make a hell of a bachelorette. I think Alona would make an unbelievable bachelorette.
David Arn
Yeah.
Jason Turk
And then I think you're at season 29 of the batch. So the next season of The Bachelor, season 30. So you have an opportunity to do
David Arn
something massive if it gets there. If there some are saying that this is let's just put a fork in it that it's done. But when they decide more Higgins or not, End of the franchise or not, we'll be here 30 minute Thursday to talk about it. Jay, I'm looking at the clock. We got 45 seconds left. Can you leave us with an outro? And if you take too long, I'm going to count you down.
Jason Turk
The quick outro. 30 Minute Thursday has been so much fun. There's so much happening. The power of reality TV right now is huge. You're seeing Whitney Levitt break box office records. You're seeing great. You're seeing sad. There's so many moving parts. Who knows what will happen. I'm excited for 2026. I'm excited to close on my house in one week, baby.
David Arn
30 seconds left. I'm excited we kick this off the ground. I'm excited to see it take off. I'm excited to have more callers and talk about people's questions, talk about trading secrets, talk about what's going on in your personal life. You're going to grow. You're moving into her house. Who knows what happens next? Who's what happens Next? We got five seconds. Thanks for listening to Trading Secrets. Leave it five stars. 30 minute Thursdays in the books. Ding, ding, ding, ding.
Jason Turk
That money, money. Making that money. Living that dream.
