But 30 minute Thursdays break down what's happening in the last week of all things money, drama, markets and more. But David, I think where we got to start is Jesse Solomon was our main guest this week on Monday. Trading Secrets of course from Summer House, the biggest and best buzzing show on Bravo, which is seems like the biggest and best network as of late. A lot of action David, let's just jump right into the recap Jesse Solomon. What you think it's a good day
David
to be a Bravo executive? Anything at Bravo right now, anywhere you turn, it's Bravo, Bravo, Bravo. We're going to talk Bravo. We're going to talk Bachelor crossovers a little bit in some pop culture breakdown. I know you probably got some business stuff for us, but yes, we are going to start Jesse Solomon a repeat guest, second time. Great to have Jesse back on the show. Thought it was an awesome episode and I got to say, a refined version of Jesse, a little more mature version of Jesse. I think Jesse is someone who probably would like guy who listens to the recaps and reflects on Jesse. There was some really awesome, wholesome aspects of the of the episode and one that you reflected on when you gave him a quote from the last time when he said, I'm the main character in my movie now everyone else gets to see it and like me, he's like, wow, I sound like a. I loved that breakdown of just his perspective of how things have changed where he is and the new passions that he's pursuing because of it. So I thought it was a great episode. Jason. All right.
Jason Taric
I'm glad that you liked the episode. It was great to see Jesse from. I don't know, he's had some highs, lows left some rights, but great guys going on tour. So shout out to Jesse for going on tour. Did you have any takeaways or curiosities or thing that kind of made you think after that one?
David
100,000 songs uploaded to stream every single day. When he said that stat that there's 100,000 songs that get uploaded on streaming services every single day, it makes me wonder how anyone gets noticed in that industry. It really makes me wonder. We've talked industry plants before. We've talked this, we've talked that. It makes me wonder how we really separate yourself in the music industry. When you're talking 100,000 songs that get put up every day, you're trying to stick out like a needle in the haystack. One thing I respect about Jesse, he. Yes, he's using his platform to launch this music career. He talked about how he's in finance now, he's close to the entertainment industry, sparked that for him. I love how he's not taking advantage of it to the point where he said, I'm not skipping any steps. I'm not doing any venues that I think I'm too big for. I'm. I want to go through this like the regular musician steps. He talked about his first Sold out show in Brooklyn where he lost $9,000 on the show because he wanted to do it the right way. And he was so proud of himself for filling it and giving a proper concert. I love how he's came to where he is in his life. Says blocking out the haters and doing something passionately. I just thought that was really cool. That was probably one of my biggest takeaways that he's really entering a crazy industry. But what did you get that vibe from him too?
Jason Taric
This industry is just insane. I think of all the industries that we know. When you talk about industry plants like music man, it is the just living in Nashville, you get access to see some of these writers and these musicians have. Who have more talent in their pinky than some musicians that have become big time stars. And so the question of how do they get there? To me is always a huge question mark. Bigger than probably any other industry in entertainment. Have you ever heard of shelving?
David
No, I have not. Okay, tell me about it.
Jason Taric
So listen to how shelving works. And for all my music experts out there, please feel free to correct me, send me a dm, send me a message. But my understanding this is how shelving works. If you have a certain. Okay, suppose there is someone who is like Jelly Roll and they are, let's say they're bigger. They've had a, let's just say like track history of being in prison or like a darker history and overcame it and are empowering any. They have a country music tonality to them. Like they can replicate what Jelly Roll does. If a label or a network knows that Jelly Roll is going to be the next guy, like he's the one set up, they will sign that person that has similarity to them and they'll give them a nice signing package and everything. And then they shelf them. So they, they make them sign. They control their rights and they essentially put them on a shelf so that other person can come on. Or if you look at, you know, just think about like anyone that's like big and has a specific unique character to their voice, to their brand. They'll find people that could be competitive to them or even better, but they're not that person. They sign them and shelf them.

Wow.
Jason Taric
And like the music industry is so cutthroat in their contracts. Like to make money in the music industry with all the layers of people that are getting paid out, it's just crazy. It's a crazy industry.
David
Crazy industry. And you used to make, you used to, I think, be able to make a lot more Money off it as a performer with like, record sales and album sales, even though those were really small. But now streaming, it's gotten so crazy. We've talked about streaming farms before on this podcast where in countries around the world, there's streaming farms that are connected to devices just trying to. It's illegal, legal, I don't know where they have thousands and thousands of devices set up in a warehouse that are streaming songs to boost them up charts and things of that nature. It's an absolutely crazy industry. It was.
Jason Taric
This is. This is why, like, when you talk about, like, people that are possibly streaming, talk about, like, in these, like, random places you got these digital people, or you hear about the Baldoni case and the Lively case, and you hear there's conversation about all these, like, different bots out there that are doing commenting and they're ridiculing people on Reddit and things like that. I don't if. Here's my golden rule, like, you want to talk shit to me in my comments, you could talk shit to me all day. And I will keep that comment there. If you are a bot, there's. I don't trust anybody anymore. I can, because all of a sudden, like, I'll have nine out of ten good comments and then I'll get like four in a row of. Of just these, like, the same comment, like random negative comments that have like, almost nothing to even do with it. And they're all bots. I'm like, oh, these. I just don't trust you're a bot. See ya, goodbye.
David
Yeah, no bots in this house. Can't be leaving the bots. Can't be the bots. The time of day. That's scary, though, because now you. How do you know it's a bot?
Jason Taric
That's the thing. You could essentially, you could assassinate someone's character if you want, or make the attempt to. With robots. Like, how is it.
David
But how do you know it's a bot? You click on it.
Jason Taric
Oh, how do I know? Yeah, they've never posted. Or it's like a. It's like a page where they have 12 different posts and none of them makes sense. The person's face is never shown. They've never reposted. They've essentially done no activity. That makes. It's really easy to tell.
David
Why. Why does. Is it someone creating the bot? Are they making money off that or are they just like to be a troll?
Jason Taric
No, there's just a lot of trolls out there. There's no one. Everyone in this space has enemies to Some degree. Whether you know who those enemies are, are or aren't, that happens.
David
Jesse Solomon knows a thing or two about enemies, but he's came out on the right side of things. One of my fav parts of the episode where you asked him, 2023, when you came on, your goal was to be making millions in 2025, did you do it? And he looks at you and he
Jason Taric
goes, I'll tell if you tell.
David
And his like funny thing. And you went bang like in 2024, my two and a half million. And you went off and he looked at you as like jaw was on the floor. He's Jason, you are. You know what, he gave a compliment to you. Where he's in this industry, there's not many people left to look up to. And he looks up to you.
Jason Taric
He said, yeah, that was really nice.
David
Yeah, he said that at the start and I think he really obviously meant it. And then to have that moment come up in the episode and this was before JTA aired and you like when it rattled off these numbers, he was like, holy. It was good to see that. He's obviously broke the seven figure threshold. We love to see people succeed in the pod. Then he talked a little bit about how one of his biggest expenses that has changed is his rent. And last time he was on he had 6k combined rent from Miami to New York. Now he's at 11k combined rent, which sounds like an atal number, but he gave a Jason Taric answer to it. He goes, listen, I know it's more I've thought about buying. I'm battling renting versus buying. If I bought a million dollar home and put a 20 down payment on that. Quick math from the curious Canadian. $200,000. He said he'd rather reinvest that in the market and he'll make more money off the 200,000 in the market than he will owning a home by the time he pays it out over the down, over the interest that it's created and the mark market value of the home. Which I thought was a pretty good answer. Jason, what was your take on his financial strategy? There's.
Jason Taric
I agree with it, honestly. I rented my whole life until I'm 37. I now bought a house. And the reason I bought a house is because for 37 years business was good, markets returned, I stacked money away and now I'm at a stage in life like where I want the house, I wanna, I want this house with Katherine, I wanna grow a family here. Like I look at my future, this house Serves as a foundational piece for that. Right. Jesse's not in that stage. So I agree with him, like right now, especially with how volatile markets are, which we could talk about. The swings are absolutely crazy right now. I think you could. And I totally understand, especially with him. He's moving a lot. He doesn't know what's next. He doesn't know the next job he's going to get, where he's going to sign, where he's going to move, what city he'll be and even what country he'll be in based on the opportunities that show up. So I agree with the move. And I'll tell you someone who has a house now. Dude, wait, this is crazy. Now, I'm new to this, okay? So some people will listen to this and be like, yeah, dude, wake up. Some people listen. This would be like, you're fucking kidding me. This is a joke. And it comes from a place of. This is a statement that comes from privilege. I know, okay. But I still want to give you my raw take on this. We had someone come into this house the other day and he was a great guy by the way. Awesome guy that comes highly recommended. He went around the house with Catherine for like two hours going through all the different windows to look at, dude, blinds and shades and drapery and all that. I don't know anything. Like I'm, I don't, I'm not good at picking the colors that stuff.
David
You just want a bill's jersey and you want. Yeah, exactly.
Jason Taric
There's. There's some things interior wise I have style for. I don't have much as I made a joke on that reel that I posted today. But I. It's not my thing. So they go at. How much you think the quote was for drapery and window shades or whatever.
David
How many windows are we talking about? We're probably talking like 30. Some windows, I don't know. I mean drapery windows, I'm thinking 13 grand, 40 some thousand. I'm out on that.
Jason Taric
I was like, what? And everything. Like the amount, obviously I'm a finance guy, so I have a number of how much I from the day I would move in. Okay. This is how much I want to target to spend by this period of time. But dude, it's crazy. Once you get in the house, it's just a full on money pit. And this is a brand new build, dude. But like anything like outdoor furniture. Indoor furniture. These chairs, this, like this. The landscaper, the pesticides. Oh, we got six more TVs. I was like Man, I gotta get working. I need to go back on. I need to go back on something. I need to do something.
David
It's so funny that you're. Listen, the reason why I know we're gonna have a podcast for a long time and I think why 30 Minute Thursdays is gonna dick is we didn't plan it this way, but I went through the home buying process six years before you. The first time I had. I have a three year old and a three month old I got. I'm like a pat. I'm like a viewer, I'm like a fan. Watching you go through for the first time and see your reactions, get to ask you the questions and relive it. And I think a lot of our listeners are probably either my age and my experiences or your age and your experiences. Not age, we're pretty much the same age, but life experiences or they're looking forward to that. So I think bringing them along is fun like that. Man, the home buying process is crazy. I'll always say it's like the biggest purchase you ever make in your life. And you test drive a car for longer than you spend inside of a home before you buy it, which is crazy. Any other pop up ancillary costs that you're like, what the hell is going on here? The drapes is a fantastic one, but is there any other cost? You're like, wait, I got to pay for this? Or I never thought about this.
Jason Taric
I mean, like, it just doesn't stop. Like getting a full security system doesn't stop. Monthly, monthly for the landscaping, monthly paint for the. For the freaking. The landscaping. You got landscaper. And then I got to get a company that could just make it green because there's green cover. Because I can't be the one in the neighborhood without the green thing. You know, I have that. Here's another one. This house is built beautifully. I mean, I've had a triple quadruple expected inspected. Like they did a great job, but they did a trash job on the mailbox. So now I need to get a mailbox. Dude, it just like bar stools. You know how much nice bar stools.
David
So expensive.
Jason Taric
Dude, a bed frame. The bed frame that we're looking at, you know how much she's. I'm like, we're keeping this bed frame till I die. That thing's going in the will. Ashley.
David
The one thing Ashley bought in the house that she was adamant was like the mattress. I was like, all right, honey, you can have the mattress. I got the in the mail. I'm checking. It was like from the mattress company that she got it from. And I opened it up and I saw the price. I was like, wow, it's a cheap mattress. And I was like, wait, this is monthly. Wait, you're paying this amount for 10 years, bro, our mattress was like $12,000. What I don't have, I don't have brand deals coming in to the point where I can afford twelve thousand dollar mattresses.
Jason Taric
What kind of mattress?
David
NASA? I don't know. Spaceship man. It's got, it's got different levels. It can heat, it can cool. I don't know, I thought a little purse was coming down and chop my pillow up, but it's nice. I don't know. When I, when she rolls out of bed, I don't hear it even.
Jason Taric
Dude, you want nice sheets these days? You're like, oh, let's get nice sheets. Nice sheets are like 500 bucks. What the is going on out there?
David
Patio furniture is the most like we have the pool at the house. Like every time it's. I gotta buy four new lawn chairs, it's like I'm in it for like two grand. It's like what for a patio launcher? What are we talking about?
Jason Taric
Yeah, it's just, it adds up. And I want. And I'll put it out there again. I know for everyone listening, it's rolling your eyes. We, I, we both know this comes from a place of privilege. But it's also really realistic eye opening things that are happening in our lives that we want to be honest about. But it's just like why it just like housing expenses just written like every way you turn your corner, I'm like, oh my God, I need to be. I gotta start doing more. I got. You know what I did immediately today because I'm like in pan like panic mode a little. I had my old BMW. I went on carvana immediately, sold it. I had a guy come and pick it up today, wrote me a check right there.
Boom.
David
No way.
Jason Taric
Oh yeah. That car needs new brakes. That car needs windshields broken. It's got electrical. I mean this car is a train wreck. It's got 60000 miles. BMW from 2019. How much you think I sold it for?
David
X5? 2019. You drive like a psycho.
Jason Taric
Oh, this thing is beat. 26, 000, 19 8.
David
Okay.
Jason Taric
Which is a huge win. I took it to a guy who's a mechanic. He's yo, for me to get this thing in the place, it's got to be 10k. Do not, don't Sell this thing. He told me, like, if you get 15, you're in good shape. So I got 19.8. But you know what? Nate's going half of your drapes. Oh, yeah. And now I'm treating it like a business. I'm like a cash flow. I'm going to my storage unit. I'm selling, dude. I'm selling on Facebook marketplace. I met a guy today, so pieces of stuff I'm selling, I'm like, okay, that's my new fund. Because it's great. It just adds up quick. And then obviously I do jta. So I tell you guys how much I make, the range I make. Now quarterly taxes come in. So you gotta pay. The government makes you pay quarterly taxes. Taxes. So I have to pay quarterly taxes. Based on last year's earning, it's a lot more than 200 grand. Okay, I gotta pay that quarterly. Okay, so you talk about cash outflow. I'm like, I'm like, what is going on? I need to do. I need to go on only fans or something.
David
Could you imagine 25 year old Genesee Otaruk being like, yo, I'm gonna get a sick BMW X5, blacked out, black rims, black. And then I'm gonna sell it. And the money that I get from that is gonna pay for half of the amount of drapes in my house. Hey, here I'm trading in my BMW. I'm getting half of the amount of drapes that I need for my house.
Jason Taric
Who do you. What are drapes? I don't even know what drapes are,
David
but they make a difference. I know, we'll tell you.
Jason Taric
I know it's one of those things.
David
They make a difference.
Jason Taric
But I think the thing is, that is a good. The point you made is really important. And that's one that I've actually talked to Katherine on a serious note about is I'm now in the house and we're getting here and unpacking. And it's truly my dream house, and it is with my dream girl. And it's the best thing in the world. But the thing is, and I even talked to my therapist about it. I'm such a windshield guy. Like, I'm always looking, okay, we did it. Now I gotta maintain it, I gotta keep it, I gotta build off it. And it's such a go forward mentality. But like, like, some you got to enjoy the time in the journey and sit back and like we've talked about, hey, let's like, like, I know we're talking about this. Let's Just sit here for a second, look around and be like, holy. And when I do that, I'm just like, I can't believe that. Like, this is maybe one of the first times other than talking to Catherine, I'm looking around like, this is my house. That's crazy.
David
You need. Here's what you need.
Jason Taric
Yeah.
David
Okay. The house is big enough where every house has that room that you don't. It has no functionality, so you don't normally use it. To have a chair in that house, that is your chair that if you walk by it so many times in a day or in a week or in a month, it's a reminder that I just got to go sit in that chair. I got to go sit in that chair. I put the phone down. It may be two minutes. It may be turned into 30 minutes. And I'm just going to sit, look at the house. I'm gna. Remember, I'm going to reflect, I'm going to feel that, and then I'm going to go back onto my life because I know Godamn well as you're designing what to do with each other corner, nook and cranny, that there's. Whether it's a room that has a wine bar in it or it has a something in it or has this in it. Don't put a TV in there. Just have a nice little conversational area where you walk past it for three months or for a week and you're like, you know what? I just need to. I need to sit in that chair because I need to just remember what's important. I think you should do that.
Jason Taric
I'm gonna do that. Yeah. I'm gonna do a little chair. I'm creating. I am doing a podcast room. So it's coming together slowly. But shift gurney will ever show up and help me out. I have podcasts.
David
Journey's on too many dates instead of up a podcast. But you were on the. You're on the floor last week. You're on. It seems like you're on some kind of sitting surface today.
Jason Taric
I'm on a nice little love sack chair here. So, you know, and that's like that. On a serious note, it's so fortunate in this space you can work with a lot of brands and stuff and it creates other opportunity. Like it's crazy how through content, which is a big part of my earnings as we've talked about it, it's storytelling of what's actually happening. That's what content is. And so this story of this chapter is so Fascinating. And it's creating great storytelling because it's real, it's happening. And so it's just. It's life. It's a cool chapter. I'm excited for it. It's funny. Every single neighbor is like. They're all married with, like, little kids. And we're like, yo, we gotta get going here.
David
Listen. If you are tuning into 30 Minute Thursdays and you don't want to hear house updates, I'm too bad because I'm living through Jason in this process. I think it's hilarious. I can't wait for him to come on and have. It's going to be a segment without being a segment Jason snapshow about something that he found out he has to deal with at the house. And then if we get that same thing with through, hopefully.
Jason Taric
I got a funny one. I got a funny one for you.
David
I love funny ones.
Jason Taric
Before you rip. Before you go. I sold the. One of these. One of my things to it. It's a piece of furniture that I had from my storage unit, like, years and years ago. And I sold it and a guy came and he's like, my buddy's gonna grab the truck. So this guy comes around the corner and grabs the truck. And I said, oh, nice to meet you guys. And he said, I live right around the corner. I just put a pool in. You should come check it out. You should put a pool in. Blah, blah, blah. And then he said something like, I love real estate. I was like, oh, what do you do? Are you in real estate? And he's, oh, no, I'm a singer and an act actor. I was like, oh, okay, that's cool. And then he. I was like, so what are you a singer for? And it's for the company, the band that's called the Big Time Rush.
David
Okay.
Jason Taric
And then he had this guy had roles and Frozen and ground and sees that marine, and his name's James Maslow. Nicest guy in the world. Absolute stud, lives around the corner. I'm like, that's crazy. Selling stuff on Facebook, Marketplace. I mean, unreal. He was just there for his buddy.
David
But anyway, speaking of singers, I gotta say, something happened. Did you know that something happened in the Jesse Solomon episode? First time it's happened in the history of trading secrets.
Jason Taric
What happened?
David
No, you didn't ask him for a trading secret.
Jason Taric
Really?
David
Yeah. That's a pause. You didn't ask him for a trading secret. You asked him to sing a jingle about trading secrets.
Jason Taric
Oh.
David
And so the trading secret was his voice. Maybe it was unlocking his voice for the viewers who haven't heard it. But for the first time, no Trading Secret. Jason, how do you feel about that?
Jason Taric
I feel a little shameful.
David
We're just gonna have to get Jesse Solomon on.
Jason Taric
We'll see Jesse do the intro jingle for Thursday.
David
Thursdays, Thursday, Thursdays. 30 minute Thursday. We could turn into. We could turn the whole title into a tongue twister. 30 minute thirsty Thursdays with Thartic Darnick and David.
Jason Taric
Jesse Solomon doing the music. We might have to do that.
David
Listen, we're gonna have to see how Jesse Solomon makes some cameos, some appearances in in the City. In the City, coming up. Bravo. Big show. Obviously, all those happenings are taking over our airways. Whitney Francais, Bachelor alumni going on the show, making some cameos as well. Some other bachelor alumni making some cameos. Not really cameos. Part of the show. Real Housewives of Rhode island tune into that at all.
Jason Taric
J.R. i saw the clips, like Ashley I talking about Jared, because Ashley I is now one of the Bat. She was, of course, from the Bachelor franchise, and she's on Real Housewives of Rhode Island. And did you see this clip that I'm talking about?
David
I. I saw it on Social. I didn't watch a show, but I saw it come across the Social. Yeah, it was. Was interesting to get interested, to get your take on it being in that world. They were in the audience at the book tour in Boston. Oh, yeah, that was last.
Jason Taric
That was. What was that? 20.
David
It was restart roadmap. Right? 20, 21.
Jason Taric
20, 21. 20, 22.
David
2022. 2022.
Jason Taric
Yeah. Yeah. But I guess she was talking about some of the marriage struggles with Jared because he is unhappy. That.
David
And.
Jason Taric
But his happiness is that he feels like he's not doing enough for, I guess, the family and then the kids. And like, he feels that. Like he's not being a good enough father because he's not bringing anything to the table with his project. His Coffee Rest Coffee restaurant.
David
Right.
Jason Taric
When I saw it, I felt really bad for him. Like, I was like, I've talked to him. Last time I talked to him was Chris Harrison's wedding. So that was three years ago. Two and a half. Three years.
David
Yeah.
Jason Taric
And he said how much, like, work he's putting into it, but they're just. They're not. He wasn't making as much. But I don't know, I felt like that's got to be a tough. I think about that. And that's got to be a tough thing to go back on reality TV and then have some of Those things aired out, and I don't know, I felt like in that moment, I just felt really bad for him. Him.
David
Yeah.
Jason Taric
And I hope he's doing okay, and I hope he's okay with everyone now knowing that. But vulnerability creates connections.
David
First off, shout out. He's not. You're not alone if you're feeling those things. I'm married, two kids, trying to provide, trying to make a living. Sometimes it's tough, the struggles. When you see your family going through struggles or maybe not having a ease of life that you maybe once hoped, it's hard. And it's natural for the. It's natural for any male husband supporter to feel that way. And what an interesting as a couple show to go on Real Housewives, because I feel like the. The whole show is broadcasted around dramatic, intense conversations that have to do with your personal life that maybe you would never have as a couple individually. So to either have that aired out or be a part of a show would just be interesting. So. Yeah, just. There's a lot of Bachelor crossovers in. In the pop culture world, so I just wanted to touch on those, because we always touch on those. Yeah, really interesting stuff.
Jason Taric
Exactly. And it's. It's. There's got to be. It would be interesting to hear from them because it's got to be hard to put yourself back out there and, like, put some of those things back out there. Oh, yeah. And that's. And to your point, I feel like every relationship you go through those ebbs and flows of, like, just who. How you're earning and how you're contributing. I feel like I. I mean, I. I know some people. I know a gentleman specifically, who, like, had a big career and now doesn't work in that career and. And does something else, and it's not what it was and feels he's dealt with a lot of those struggles of not contributing and stuff as a father, I think those are real things. So I just. I feel like that's got to be the double down of that being on reality TV and then the world knowing. But maybe it's also like, in the world that we live in right now, that type of vulnerability actually drives the business.
David
Oh, yeah.
Jason Taric
People are like, I'm gonna help you out, man. I'm send you a Venmo. I'm be at your restaurant. So maybe. Maybe the lesson is put that out there. I don't know. I just felt bad for him with it, but that's all I saw from the episode. I didn't watch the whole thing.
David
It's always. It will go back to Jesse Solomon. He goes, how real is reality tv? It's really real. So if it is real and he is going through that, which I'm sure he would be, we're rooting for him. We're rooting for them to succeed. And like you said. But Jay, we're wrapping up. We only got about three minutes left. Anything that's top of mind. Listen, I got to give a shout out here. Buffalo Sabers making the playoffs first time in 2011. Breaking the longest streak in professional sports. That now belongs to the New York Jets. Longest playoff dro. What do you think in Buffalo Sabres. We're gonna make a run. We gonna get the one seed. What's going on? Are you NER playoffs? What's up?
Jason Taric
I'm just so happy we broke the longest trout in NHL history. The boys are back. Would love to get home ice advantage. What a difference that would make in the playoffs. But, like, they're buzzing. I think they're going to make a run. It's hard to beat momentum in this game. As you know, it's not always about skill. It's about placement and chemistry. You can have the three most talented people on one line. You make one adjustment. Take one person off that, and that line could be the hottest in the world. So it's about momentum. Momentum. It's a lot about momentum.
David
I hope I get to experience it live. I want to go to a game that would be electric if they play Montreal. Going to that environment, Montreal would be a zoo. A kid that I coach, Lane Hudson, he's on the Montreal Canadiens. One rookie of the year, the NHL. So that would be a tug of my heartstrings there. I'm gonna cheer for the hometown Sabers. I'm gonna go with my boy Lane Hudson. We'll see on that.
Jason Taric
Good stuff. But I also want to say this. Go saves Lane Hudson. You and I, let's try and go to a game. Okay, so we're gonna come on that. But before we wrap, I know we're getting close. Close to 30 minutes here. I gotta tell you, the markets today, it's Wednesday night, are booming. They're up. It was up 3% over 3% every single indices because of this potential ceasefire. So what's going to happen? There's going to be more volatility. The ceasefire is not going to work. It's going to work. There's going to be a fallout. We already saw that Israel bombed Lebanon. So now the. The Strait of Hermus may not be open so there's so much volatility, there's so much changing. Here's what I'm going to tell you. Dollar, cost, average, pick one time a week, one time a month, whatever you can afford. Get into the market, get into the indices. VTI is a good one. S&P 500. This is not investment advice. This is just from an educational standpoint. These are the things you got to pay attention to. Getting in at a solid price point. You can't time it perfectly. And the indexes, they are, they are moving high and low and moving all over. But get in the game. That would be my suggestion or form of education, David. That's all I got from the markets. Anything else before we wrap up? Some markets. What do you got? Markets. Money.
David
And I don't got markets unless it's the public market. And I'm going to get some fresh fruit for the weekend. I am going to Florida tomorrow. Taking the kids, taking the wife. Much needed. R R, hopefully next week when I get this ring light on my face, there's a little nice glow. I need it. I'm looking forward to it. I'll let you know how it is on 30 Minute Thursdays. You got anything fun coming up before?
Jason Taric
I won't be in Coachella and I will not be at the charity event in Tampa Bay. I was supposed to go with Rob G. But I will be somewhere and that won't be in Nashville. And that's all I have to say about that.
David
Okay, there we go. We'll see you next week, same time, same place.
Jason Taric
Or you won't.
Or we won't find out more to come. And that is a wrapped 30 minute Thursday.

This “Thirty Minute Thursday” installment features Jason Tartick and co-host David recapping the recent episode with Jesse Solomon of Summer House, exploring career changes, the complexities of the music industry, real estate and homeownership realities, and pop culture crossovers in reality TV. They also offer real-life financial reflections and practical tips on navigating market volatility, all told in relatable, conversational style.
Jesse Solomon’s Evolution:
Jesse, returning as a guest, is described as more mature and self-aware, reflecting on his journey from being the “main character in my movie” to pursuing new passions and creative directions.
The Overwhelming Scale of Music Streaming:
Jesse shared a staggering stat: 100,000 songs are uploaded to streaming services daily (04:04), sparking conversation about the challenge of standing out in the industry.
Jesse’s Integrity in Music:
Despite leveraging his Summer House fame, Jesse insists on earning his music success without shortcuts, e.g., playing smaller venues and absorbing losses (lost $9,000 on his first sold-out Brooklyn show) to gain authentic experience.
Shelving in the Music Industry:
Jason explains the cutthroat nature of the industry, including the practice where labels sign and then “shelve” potentially competitive artists to protect their chosen stars.
Streaming Farms and Bots:
Discussion of widespread tactics like streaming farms (warehouses with thousands of devices boosting play counts) and the rampant use of bots for online narrative manipulation.
Career & Income Growth:
Callback to Jesse’s goal of making millions by 2025 (set during his last appearance).
Renting vs. Buying Debate:
Jesse’s rent has jumped from $6,000 to $11,000 monthly (Miami + NY), but he prefers investing potential down payments (e.g., $200K) in the market rather than buying property—Jason concurs based on personal experience.
Unexpected Homeownership Costs:
Jason is stunned by the realities of owning a new house (e.g., $40,000+ for drapes, furniture, landscaping, seemingly endless expenses).
Relatable Anecdotes:
Humorous stories about sticker shock from home purchases (e.g., $12,000 mattress, Facebook Marketplace escapades, selling his BMW to fund home upgrades).
Mindfulness & Gratitude:
Jason discusses struggling to appreciate his achievements amid constant goal-chasing, prompting advice from David: create a space to sit, reflect, and feel gratitude.
Bravo & Bachelor Crossovers:
Notable mentions of Real Housewives of Rhode Island featuring Bachelor alums Ashley I. and Jared, and the unique dynamics of having personal struggles broadcasted.
Reality TV’s Impact:
Reflections on the challenges of vulnerability, especially for men dealing with career changes and financial pressures, and the role that publicizing struggles can play in building connection (and sometimes driving business).
On the difficulty of music careers:
“100,000 songs uploaded to stream every single day…you’re trying to stick out like a needle in the haystack.” – David (04:04)
On industry sabotage:
“They control their rights and essentially put them on a shelf so that other person can come on.” – Jason (05:50)
On financial trade-offs of homeownership:
“Once you get in the house, it’s just a full-on money pit.” – Jason (12:44)
On appreciating life milestones:
“Some—you got to enjoy the time and journey and sit back…and when I do that, I’m just like, I can’t believe…this is my house.” – Jason (18:36)
On real financial pressure:
“I gotta pay quarterly taxes…Based on last year’s earning, it’s a lot more than $200,000…you talk about cash outflow, I’m like, what is going on? I need to do…I need to go on Only Fans or something.” – Jason (17:05)
Conversational, candid, and humorous, with both hosts sharing personal stories, mishaps, and advice. They maintain authenticity in discussing privilege and the realities of financial decision-making, all while injecting humor and relatability.
This episode is packed with actionable insights and laugh-out-loud real-life stories, from making it in the music industry and the intricacies of reality TV crossovers, to navigating the hidden costs of homeownership and staying grounded through gratitude. Jason and David offer wisdom for aspiring earners and investors at any stage, with plenty of heart and a dose of “wow, life is expensive” humility.
