Guest 1
Oh, Mick is, like, beautiful like Mick.
Guest 2
I'm a big fan of Mick.
Host
I love Mick, and I think they did a great job. But it's ridiculously hard for no reason.
Guest 1
We're talking, like, conditions. How it looks. I hate Mick, bro. I hate.
Host
All right, we are here live at the Cadillac Championship Saturday afternoon, right off of hole 18. Tee box.
Guest 2
Yes, sir.
Host
You know, vibes are high. We're here in the Cadillac booth. We got some F1 cars in here. We got some F1 simulators rolling. A lot of nice Cadillac whips in here. Yeah, the Cadillac whips in here are very, very nice. We'll show you guys off camera after. Yeah. All right. So last time we had you on the pod, we did top five. We did a top five courses in Miami.
Guest 2
Yeah, we did.
Host
And the clip went crazy.
Guest 2
People.
Host
People were not very happy with the list, especially including Killian greens on that list, which, listen, we'll see where this list goes today. But Killian has a special place, I think, in most people's hearts because, like, you learn. You learn to play golf there. I get it. I get it. It is not a quality course. There are significantly better courses out there. But it is the home course. Right? It's like where I grew up to play Briar Bay. Another one of those. Yeah, but let's run it back. And we're here on the Blue Monster. And we didn't include the Blue Monster last time, you know, and that's a
Guest 2
test in of itself. Look, as far as, you know, Biltmore calls itself a championship golf course, and they have champion, you know, junior Orange Bowl Here you could. A PGA Tour tournament couldn't happen at Biltmore, unfortunately. The players would eat it up there. They just. They'd kill it. That. It's just.
Host
That's not 45 under there.
Guest 2
It's not nearly. Nearly as hard as Blue Monster. As much as I love Biltmore, great layout. Okay, so top five course. Yeah, that Killian Killian greens was a bit of controversial take. So listen, I'm gonna keep it local. I'm keep it as accessible as I can for the people of Miami. Okay. Because, you know, as much as I do love a nice country club golf, I think golf, you know, again, like, is an experience to be shared. It's something to be shared with people and to meet new people through it. And while you can do that, clubs, obviously, public golf. So with that being said, I'm going to start off number five, start off strong with my home course where I learned to play golf, where I learned to knock it around, is Palmetto Golf Course.
Host
Keeping it on the list, bro. Here we go again, boys.
Guest 2
I'm keeping it on the list. You can say which one.
Host
Here we go again.
Guest 2
Palmetto Golf Course. If you feel like doing. If you feel like playing golf in a tank top and jorts and not caring about how many beers you drank and just not caring if, you know, there's lightning. They don't even kick you off the course half the time. Just go to Palmetto. They got people walking around selling golf balls onto the fences. You can slice into us one and see if you hit a car. Like, it's great. All right.
Host
Oh, what a shot.
Guest 2
Number four. Who's that?
Host
I don't even know. Raiden. Raiden.
Guest 2
Oh, yeah, that guy. His last name is Raiden.
Host
Hey, there you go.
Guest 2
Like a couple letters away. Yo, change his last name, dude. And me and you can go, like, on the Zurich next year or something. But number four. Number four. Number four. You know what? I like this list. Number four. I'm gonna go Blue Monster, bro.
Host
Okay, I made it on the list this time, you know, Made it on the list.
Guest 2
I'm gonna make it on the list. And yeah, I'm. Obviously, we're here at it, but, you know, it's been a while, I think. Something you said as well and something my friend said yesterday. Shout out Sean Bena. He was telling me that, you know, after being here and really seeing the course and seeing PJ Tour, four players play it for the first time in 10 years. It's gone through renovations in that time as well. I mean, man, it is. It just looks like a true test of golf out there.
Host
It does.
Guest 2
You got to go out there and place your shots. You got to avoid a lot of hazards. You got to putt. Well, shout out Puttwell Golf number three. I'm gonna go with. I'm gonna go with Normandy Shores. I'm gonna go, Norm. Nice.
Host
Yeah, normally, I haven't played that in
Guest 2
a while, but it's just.
Host
It's a. It's a great course.
Guest 2
Great, great people there. My. My man caps out there. Fix your swing in a second with a smile as well. You got a great layout and a really good clubhouse, as well. And just the best thing, too, is they look out for the people, man. If you're a local, you can go. And they have, I think, the best rate, the local rate for a local golfer in the area. Best bang for your buck, for sure. The greens are always beautiful there. Number two, I'm gonna keep it, like I said, accessible. I'm gonna go with the newly redone Miami Lakes. Miami Lakes, man, y' all are killing it.
Host
Miami, y' all are killing it.
Guest 2
I don't know if the cow has a name. If he did, I shout him out. Mascot shout out.
Host
Nomad, too. Doing the artwork on the nomadic. I don't know what that was, but it was something on the property.
Guest 2
Yeah, it's like, on. That's like a. I don't know what. It's like a shed.
Host
Yeah.
Guest 2
That should never look better, bro.
Host
I know my shed now.
Guest 2
Yes. And it's actually. Look, it is amazing, and the course is amazing, and it really is pristine right now. I was just there. The fairways are rolling green to these, you know, massive complexes. So if you're there, you got to be ready to putt. You really have to be ready to.
Host
To.
Guest 2
To have your putter out there.
Host
Yeah, My. My favorite change on Miami Lakes specifically, was that whole back. Oh, it's front. It's the front. After you got 1, 2, 3.
Guest 2
About 4, 5, 6.
Host
3 is the par 3, 4, and then. Yeah, so 5, 6, 7. So it was that par 5. They. To hit it over the water. That whole.
Guest 2
Was brutal.
Host
I hated that hole. They kept it a par five, I think, Right. It's a part four.
Guest 2
Okay.
Host
So they kept up. They moved it to a part four, and then they. They moved. They shut down the part three. That was on the other right after four. Right. Made that a part five, I think, Right? Yeah. So part five, now part four, and then the three, like, island green style. Part three.
Guest 2
Little island green. Tucked in the corner.
Host
Corner, yeah.
Guest 2
And it's a little, you know, he plays like a 1 to 100, 130
Host
shot, but it's tricky. It gives you a little TPC Sawgrass 17 type vibe on it.
Guest 2
It's like elevated. So if you miss, you're sloping in. It's water, it's bunkers. Yeah. Really, really nice. And number one, I think. I think I gave it number one spot, unless I gave it a Palmetto last time, but no, number one. I'm gonna go with my favorite layout in Miami to this day, the Biltmore. I just, I always truly enjoy my time there. I enjoy the layout a lot. I think it's just a good atmosphere. I have some gripes with how it's being run currently. I don't want to get into it, but I do think that it could be made. Long story short, there is a lot that could be done to make it a more conducive environment for the locals and for people who want to play golf without spending hundreds of dollars without doing it. So I hope, I hope that we can get to a point where it's, it's, you know, we can invite, you know, it's very inviting to people from out of state, which is nice, and invite them to come to our hometown to play a nice course. But, you know, I want to make sure that the locals are able to play in that area as well. And I want to see more of that. You know, I haven't even played in a long time just because of how expensive it is, to be completely honest. So that's a problem a little bit without throughout Miami. Miami, yeah, unfortunately. But as far as pure golf layout goes, man, I love the Biltmore.
Host
Are you. Are you a fan of Michigan golf? Oh, sure, yeah. There's some beautiful courses I hear up there.
Guest 3
Oh, it's. It's. Some friends of mine and I were just having the conversation as far as, you know, obviously there's some beautiful private ones, but as public, great golf courses that are affordable to the average person. Like I said, where I go, Arcadia Blobs is world class.
Guest 2
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Guest 3
That's an amazing forest, dunes and is great. Bay Harbor, Belvedere, you know, all of these places where if. If you said you gotta go on a golf trip for, you know, $1500 or $2000 and you want to get the best bang for your buck, I don't think there's a nicer spot where you can play all the best ones that are available. You know, you go over To Wisconsin, you know, Black Wolf run Kohler, though. And those are 5, 500 bucks around.
Guest 1
Wow.
Host
Holy cow.
Guest 3
You know, and we're on the better side, you know, of the. You're getting the sunset side on Lake Michigan in June. You're getting daylight till like, 10:00 o' clock or 10:15.
Guest 2
Oh, really? Yeah.
Host
North, the summer days are long, so
Guest 3
if you looked right now on the Arcadia Bluffs is getting sunlight right now until almost, you know, like, almost nine o'.
Host
Clock.
Guest 2
Oh, that's fantastic.
Host
That's amazing.
Guest 3
So you can come off the golf course at 10. I mean, and when you think the sun's coming up at 6:15.
Host
Yeah.
Guest 2
It's crazy.
Host
That's a crazy even thought to think of. Yeah. Because I was down here, like, peak late season is like, what, eight, 30, maybe.
Guest 2
Yep, that's exactly.
Host
Yeah.
Guest 3
Getting an extra hour,
Host
five and be fine.
Guest 2
Can you imagine being able to tee off at 5? You go play an entire. I like, go do work and then get an entire 18 in, like, after that.
Guest 3
Absolutely. That's what. And then, you know, you're getting away from the heat here. So Northern Michigan has the warm days, the cool nights.
Host
Yeah.
Guest 3
I mean, it's the best spot to be. It's a good golf. It's affordable golf.
Host
My uncle goes up there a lot, and he says the golf up there is great. Yeah, I love it. We'll make it up there. Let's do it.
Guest 2
Fantastic. I love.
Host
I heard you said you're from Kentucky. So, like, what are your thoughts on, like, living in Miami? Playing golf in Miami.
Guest 4
I love being down here. When. When I first came down to Miami, it was like a culture shock. And I feel like in Lexington, everyone knows everyone. So being down here, at first I was like, whoa. Like, there's so much going on. New school, new place. It's just so hectic. And then I would go home for summer and I'd be like, there's nothing to do. Like, I want to go back.
Host
Yeah.
Guest 4
And then now that I'm a senior, there isn't any other place I'd want to be. Like, every time I land in Miami Airport, I'm like, driving by Brickell, I'm like. I almost get emotional because I'm like, I love this place so much. It is the best place to live.
Host
You got to play in the Pro Am this week. I did tell us a little bit about. About that experience playing the Blue Monster.
Guest 5
Oh, it was so fun. So I actually, I played at FIU here, so we got. This was like our home course.
Host
You played at fiu?
Guest 3
Yeah.
Host
No way. Pause up.
Guest 5
Let's go represent.
Host
What year was that?
Guest 5
I graduated 2021.
Host
Okay.
Guest 3
Damn.
Guest 5
A while ago, but this was our territory. This was our home field, so being back here was amazing. And I think that the Blue Monster is playing relatively fair if there's no wind, but today, we've seen a lot of wind today.
Guest 2
Did you see Scotty out there?
Guest 1
Yeah.
Guest 2
You see his caddy? Yeah. Did he say anything to you?
Guest 1
No, he just gave me this ball.
Host
He gave you a ball?
Guest 1
Yeah.
Host
He gave you a ball. That's it. Go like this to the camera. Nice.
Guest 2
Look at that.
Host
What are you. What are you gonna frame? You gonna frame it?
Guest 1
Yeah.
Guest 2
You can't hit it.
Host
You can't use it on the horse.
Guest 1
I know
Guest 2
you can't if you hit. The thing is, if you used it, you think you get a hole in one on your first hit with it. Because it's Scotty's ball.
Host
Yeah. See, Scotty just hit on nine right now, the par three.
Guest 2
Oh, let's watch.
Host
Oh. In the bunker.
Guest 2
That's okay. That's okay.
Host
He can get right there and get up and down. Scotty's. What's your favorite part about Scotty's game? He's got. He does, like, a thing with the foot.
Guest 1
Yeah.
Host
Do you try to replicate that? I think his backswing. You like his backswing? Yeah. Very cool.
Guest 2
Yeah, he has it. But his sweet swing. If you had one swing to pick, would it be Scotty's? Did you pick his swing, or would you. Do you like someone's swing better?
Guest 1
I like how Bryson Rasham was.
Guest 2
He has a cool swing.
Host
He does.
Guest 2
Yeah.
Host
A lot of speed, and both of
Guest 2
them are kind of, you know, like here and here. There's not a lot of extra movement. You know, It's a good people to watch. That's cool. You play golf for a school team or anything? No. You will, though, huh?
Host
Yeah. Oh, yeah.
Guest 2
That's the goal. That's the confidence we need.
Host
I like it. Just hard work, right? A lot of reps. Golf is all about repetition, and the fact that you're starting at a young age is great. I mean, if I. If I could go back in time, oh, my God. I do it all over again and do that. So keep doing your thing.
Guest 2
You're like, what's your best part of your game? Driving, chipping, putting, irons.
Guest 1
Putting.
Host
Really? Yeah.
Guest 2
That's awesome.
Host
Me, too. You can't, because that's the only thing I'm good at.
Guest 2
Yeah, that's it.
Host
Sick.
Guest 2
That's cool. If you played Blue Monster right now, what would you shoot? Four under
Guest 1
200.
Host
200. 200. That's respectable.
Guest 2
That's respectable. I like that.
Host
I like it.
Guest 2
You're getting under out here.
Host
Come here.
Guest 2
Ever when you're younger, you know, first time here?
Guest 1
Yeah, it's my first time here.
Guest 2
You played blue before? Blue Monster?
Guest 1
Never. I've played the red plenty of times. You know, I've been here for junior golf. Never played the blue, and wasn't even into golf when the tour stopped coming here. Probably got into golf around 20, 2017, 2018. And score. Stopped coming here. 2013.
Guest 2
Yeah.
Host
Yeah.
Guest 1
So it's my first time experiencing this tournament. Another reason why it was kind of like, let's get down there and see it. I mean, you got Cam Young on the TV right now. He's been crushing it, but I think
Host
he just chipped in for birdie, too. Dan.
Guest 1
I'm surprised they're taking it this eagle.
Host
No, it was three. Yeah.
Guest 1
I'm shocked they're taking it this deep. Wait, this is actually a good thing. Like, if you got a hole in one, your first hole in one, what
Shelby Power Nitro Plus Advertiser
are you doing with the ball?
Host
Keeping it.
Guest 1
Just keeping it. Or, like, are you framing it?
Host
Frame? So, I mean, it's definitely not going back in my golf bag and ever
Guest 1
being used, but, like, are you, like, framing it and making it a big deal and sending it to everybody and being like, yo, look at the frame.
Host
Right.
Guest 2
Would you.
Guest 1
Would you go that far?
Host
So I. I have, like, a golf ball frame for all the tournaments that we cover, so it probably go in there, but it'd be like, center, and it say, like, hole in one. One. Yeah. I definitely make a big deal about center of attention. What did he do with me? What did he do with.
Guest 1
He got, like, a. Like a. Like a mantle and like, a box frame.
Host
Okay.
Guest 1
And it was, like, deserved.
Host
Yeah. I thought. You're going to tell me, like, he used the ball the next hole and, like, hit it. I was worried about, too. That's. I thought that's where he was going. Like, what would you do?
Guest 1
I could. I could hate to hate, but, like, okay, bro, If I, like, realistically, I think the time. If I ever hit a hole one, like, there'll be, like, AI chefs or, like, I. I won't hit a hole in one for, like, another 15 minutes.
Host
My. My craziest, like, hole in one or closest ever hole in one was Brier Bay. You know Brier Bay. So I duff my tee shot off the Te, like, just top day, it rolls three feet. So I play it where it lies, hitting my second shot still in the tee box. Right. Hold it out right there.
Guest 1
But is that a hole one or
Host
is that not a hole one? It's not. It's a birdie. Yeah, it's like. It's like. I forget who it was. One of these pro basketball players, you know, they all play golf now. He. He shanked his tee shot. So he hit a mulligan. His mulligan was a hole in one.
Guest 1
I think it was Dwayne Wade at Pebble.
Host
No, well, I don't. I think that was a true hole in one. Who was it? Dlo. Yeah. So he shanks his tee shot. He hits him all again. He's like, yo, pass me another ball. Like we all do, right? And he gets another ball, hits a hole in one on the next shot. Shot. And the whole argument in, like, the comments was like, that's not a whole one. I'm counting that as a whole in one. Yeah, you can't get shimsy with that.
Guest 1
Just counting it as, like, I hold
Host
out, like, well, yeah, but then it's not a hole in one reality. Who would know it wasn't a whole in one? Unless you have, like, a crowd. Everyone was like, nice bar.
Guest 1
In the comments, you guys are speaking about, like, basketball players going to golf.
Guest 2
Did you see the.
Guest 1
The Bobda sports video with LeBron?
Host
Of course. It was crazy.
Guest 1
Can I swear on this?
Host
Yeah, you're good.
Guest 1
LeBron, like, swearing was, like, the funniest. Yeah, he was there. And they're like. They're like. They were like, oh. Like, Bron's like, oh, I love Cracker Barrel.
Host
I so great.
Guest 1
This is so.
Guest 2
Yo.
Guest 1
He said, like, like, 80.
Guest 2
Yeah.
Host
He let loose. It felt like it was almost like trying to be like he was coding.
Guest 1
He was code switching. Super.
Host
Like, he wanted to be like a bro. He's already old, man. He's trying to be a weekend warrior now. Like, he's just. He's gonna have a. He's gonna have, like, a cart bag that moves by itself.
Guest 1
The funniest part is, like, he was there with, like, his stiff ass shot.
Guest 2
And he.
Host
Bronze.
Guest 1
Old bro. Bronze.
Guest 2
Bronze.
Guest 1
Pushing, too.
Host
He's at 41 years old.
Guest 1
He would shank. He would shank the ball, like, way right. But it wouldn't. It'd be like this closer being ob. And they'd be like, oh, nice shot, Brian. Nice shot.
Host
Yeah.
Guest 1
Way to get one out there, Braun.
Guest 4
Yeah.
Host
Foreign.
