But you got to count on Embiid staying healthy. That's huge. Obviously, Jalen Brown being a point of attack defender for them takes a lot off LeBron and allows those guys. He has a lot of defense around him. It's a great location. It's schematically. But, like, it didn't make a lot of sense, especially for a legacy run. I mean, this is probably his last season. Close to. It probably is. And to go to Philly, a team he's never played for, has no history with. It's wild. I think David. David has something to say.

But I. I will say this right? You know, obviously the Heat were favorited. You look at, like, all the lines, Call Sheep, Holy market, Hard Rock, DraftKings everywhere, right? The Heat were the favorite pretty much for the last, like, four days. I want to say, obviously, we've seen so much fluctuation over the course of the last month or so, but it really felt like Miami was going to be the team just based off of, like, what everyone was feeling, whatever LeBron was saying. But if you look at LeBron's tweet, I don't know if you guys saw this, but he tweeted, right? And something that he says here is. Is. Is strange, right? He goes, I'm not going for money. Which we knew that, right? He said, this is my last decision, but he says, I'm not going for family. Which four days ago, he was on a live panel talking about how family was going to be pretty much the decision making for him. So now it adds up because Philly didn't make sense from the family perspective, which is why I think we all discounted Philly from the, you know, from the last. From the last week, right? It was like Cleveland, sure. Family. He, you know, it's his hometown, Golden State. Close enough to la, close enough to his kids where they're playing basketball. His daughter's in la, so he can go back and forth relatively easy. So Golden State made a ton of sense there. Obviously you had the element of Steph and. And just Golden State as a whole and being able to play there. And then Miami, right? Like Miami, the good weather, kind of that retirement aspect. Phenomenal team with Giannis and Bam as part of the. As part of the core. And then obviously A great place for a family, right? So it was like, everything pointed to not Philly because of the family aspect. And here we are, him dropping a tweet, and he's saying, this is not about family. So what the hell was this for the last week? This doesn't make any sense.

Embrace debate. He might just be a terrible father, and he clearly. And he clearly does not care about his family. That's all I've read from that tweet. So. But no, I'm with you, Dre. I think it is. Again, I had. I had Philly at 0%. I just. I am almost blown away to the fact that he is a 76er now. Like, it. Listen, like Bobby mentioned, in terms of contention, right, For. For competing for a championship, Philly does makes sense, right? Like. Like, they're not the only one that makes sense, but they make sense in that they've got a bunch of stars. He's not going to be the main guy, right? I mean, he wouldn't have been the main guy anywhere he went, really. But still, like, Philly is stacked. Like, I get that. But, like, everything that has led up to this, like. Like you mentioned the family, the. The. The legacy. The legacy play is, I think, the thing that shocks me the most because LeBron is a guy that, you know, is, you know, about his legacy. Like, that is a big thing. And he. Him being one of the greatest of all time, like, I would have just thought those three spots, really, I mean, Cleveland or Miami specifically, in terms of those are places that he played at to end his career at, made the most sense. But, yeah, I'm still a little blown away.

I mean, so the legacy thing to me is interesting, right, because, yes, legacy and the fact of, you know, maybe returning to places you've played that you have affiliation with. But I think in LeBron's eyes, and if you look at how he's made decisions in the past, right, it was about. I mean, maybe. Maybe not so much the heat, right there had an opportunity to create a dynasty, right? But going back to Cleveland was about bringing a championship to Cleveland, right? Going to LA was about bringing a championship to la. This kind of feels the same in that regard, right? When did we say Philly? Last 1A championship. 80.

But when we talk about legacy and how LeBron's made decisions in the past, this feels like a legacy play about bringing another championship to another city, even though he has no connection to it. Yeah, they had a sponsored Instagram story where the LeBron's jersey, number six Heat jersey for sale. That's not coincidence. And then now LeBron goes and spins it to Philly and look. Yeah, I get the history and wanting to bring a title to that city. It's a great sports city. It really is. Especially if you consider like the Eagles and the football fans. But who the hell cares about the Sixers? This is. Dude, I don't even think it's a legacy play because I don't give a Damn about the 76ers. Dude, this is just weird for his legacy. To me, it's just weird. You could have went home, went to Miami, went to Cleveland. There's so many ways he could have done things and they all have good teams. Like I get like, on paper, Sixers are well, but like, let's see, mid season when Joel Embiid's done for the year and everything else. But like, I don't know, man, this is weird. This honestly just feels like he didn't have much grass on the situation and chose the best chance, if all things are perfect, to win a title situation.

The 76ers are already more of an enemy. I already never liked them, to be honest. I hate Philly. How long do you think Braun knew that he was going to Philly? Do you really believe that? You know, as Rich Paul said, that he had a decision made and. And kind of flipped it here towards the end of. Of the decision? Or do you think it was always Philly in his eyes? Was he waiting for certain moves to happen? Right, We. We saw some rumors that he was waiting for Kyrie, maybe for a team to make a play on Kyrie, maybe make a move on AD Right? Which AD Got smushed early on. Kyrie kind of came to life a little bit later in the process. Right. But AD Got to Golden State was something. And then, you know, the. The. The Wizards were like, we ain't moving, AD So, like, that kind of got smushed relatively early. But what do you think? There was a chance that LeBron was going to go somewhere else and then kind of like, at the last second pivoted. Was he playing the Heat for spite against Riley and just, like, having a bad relationship there, even though they've said they've kind of mended that relationship? Like, I OB I don't think we'll ever know the answers to these questions, obviously. But, like, I'm curious to get your guys thoughts on that, right? Because, yes, it did feel like Miami For a really long time.

Yeah, I think, I think we'll find out when LeBron does his four part docu series like Jordan did, because he's going to try to do everything like the actual goat did. But anyway, I, I do think, I do think it's strange that all the markets like you mentioned, Dre, like the Poly market, the Kashis, like, everyone was leaning Miami, like, it, I, I think where there was smoke, there was fire. Even yesterday. Adam Schefter, obviously not an NBA guy, but he's the most plugged in person in the world. Like, he's like, no, like, I'm hearing Braun to Miami, Wingo hearing Bron to Miami. Like, you know what I mean? Like, like these are, these are plugged in sources. So I do think that there was, like, I don't know, like, I, I, I find it hard to believe that Miami wasn't the choice or at least in that decision until seemingly this morning. I, I don't know, man. Like you said, Andre, we'll probably never know the answers here, but let's not act like LeBron is very strategic and he likes to work his little chess pieces behind the scenes. No doubt in my mind, he held out to see, if nothing else, what was each team going to do for him? Like, what each team was going to do so he could see the final pitcher before he made a move. Also, I absolutely believe that he's over there talking to Draymond about what could, what could we possibly do here? And oh, can we get kyrie or is 80 going to be able to get free or, you know, it. Absolutely, absolutely. He was playing every avenue possible. I don't know if he flipped to the end or he was always leaning one way, but if something could happen, it might flip his decision. If the AD gets traded to Golden State, I think obviously he probably goes to Golden State. Like if something that big, where we're able to be pulled off, I think you guarantee yourself. And I think that's why a lot of people thought it was the Heat, because they got the Greek freak. They pulled off a big thing, right. But LeBron always goes with another. It's never just LeBron.

A guy that was untradeable. It ends up in the la. Like, it's just the way he moves that. It absolutely has something to do with something else.

Yeah. When you talk, he talk culture a ton, right? That was another word that he used a lot, right? Culture, culture, culture. Winning culture. Like Philly hasn't won since 83. Where's the winning culture there? Like, what are we talking about? Like, all time loser franchise Jalen Brown obviously was a move that had a ton of influence. And we gotta. We gotta talk about that, right? Because Philly's not even this discussion if that trade with Boston doesn't even happen, right? So, like, Philly would have never even been in the mix. The fact that Jaylen Brown is over there obviously created a team that became appealing. Because I think, I think the trade happened right after LeBron announced, Right. That he was leaving LA. Right. Because that's what opened Philly to be an option. Because I remember we were already having conversations about LeBron. Obviously, Philly was not. Was not in it.

The Sixers not only are a talented team, they're built in a way that takes so much off LeBron's plate. And he has like two or three guys that would do the dirty before he ever has to. And this. Honestly, 40 year old LeBron doesn't want to do anymore, which is why I told you guys, the one thing that he had going for him is he could run point, be an isolate, be a, you know, run, run the point, facilitate, bam. And The Greek freak would do all the dirty work down low. Bam. Couldn't go back to his natural role, just being a gritty defender, guarding their best player every night and rebounding like a. Yeah, so I thought that made a lot of sense. But the Sixers have, like, two or three guys that are dominant on defense now, and if Embiid's healthy, that's a fourth. Yeah, you have four guys that arguably are better on defense than you. That's a dream scenario for LeBron, especially at 40 years old.

Yeah, so LeBron. LeBron did announce on the 30th that he's leaving the Lakers, and then the Jaylen Brown Trade happened on the 6th of July. So LeBron was a free agent before the trade even happened. So Philly obviously was not even like a thought probably when he first left, and then obviously that opened. Okay, that's another option to add into the table. Obviously that was really early on that in the free agency process for Braun, but yeah, I, I, I think he had an inclination that, you know, Miami would be an option, Golden State would be an option. The Timberwolves also were, were kind of in the mix there. Obviously. They were like a flyer. That would have been hilarious. If he ends up going over there like a team that, like, no one was even talking about and he ends up over there. But when you talk about Philly and what they built over there, to Bobby's point. Yes. Like, the team is going to be a good team. Like, there's no arguing against that. It I was already having the dreams, though, of LeBron and Giannis running down court and, and LeBron throwing an alley oop to you. Oh, my God, that would have been beautiful. Would have been beautiful.

Let me ask you all this. Now that it's all over. We've kind of had this talk a couple times through the process, because it's been a damn process. As he fans though, don't you feel like he kind of got mushed here? You kind of got screwed. You kind of sitting there waiting on LeBron's decision, and you get left at the altar a little bit. I feel like there was a couple more moves that y' all could have made in the meantime instead. Yeah, all these guys that you could have got for cheaper gone.

But I I n I, I, I think, like, what we were going to do as far as, like, extra pieces, like, nothing happened like you we were going to go after vet guys, guys that we could pay, you know, vet minimum type contracts. I think those guys are obviously are still Available. You talk about DeRozan, Klay. Thompson's been a name the. That's been floating around for the Heat a little bit. Obviously we need three point shooting to make this kind of, like, system work for this team. So I don't think LeBron holding out really hurt us in that regard. It hurt us in the fact that, like, we didn't get LeBron. That's what hurts. Because you look at this team, we needed a guy that could run the point, right? It. And then, you know, LeBron wouldn't have to play as much defense because you have a ton of studs on the defensive side, right? Daven Mitchell, Giannis, Bam A Wiggins, right? Guys stud Bobby Portis now too. Like, we had the pieces to be a really good defensive team where LeBron didn't have to be the guy to go play lockdown defense. He could run the point and be a facilitator and let guys do their thing, which LeBron obviously no one probably better than him in the league at making everyone around him better, right? So, like, this team would have been electric. It, it, it, it stinks. It stinks because from a fit standpoint, it would have been great. People were saying, like, is it too much? People that could drive it to the rim. I'm like, no. Like, you have everybody that can do it. Like, you can make the same argument. When we had Wade and LeBron, right? Both of them love to attack the basket. And how did that go? We made it to four straight NBA Finals. So, like, it. It would have been amazing. It would have been amazing.

Yeah, I think. Well, first of all, you got to go back a little further. So ESPN bought NFL Network right when the. When the season ended. So I think when you consider it like that, the biggest shock to me was Tom Palacero. But the thing is, they have Adam Schefter, and then NFL Network has Ian Rapaport and Tom Palacero. So you can look at it pretty easily and be like, Tom Palacero is great at his job, but we have Ian Rap Port. We have Adam Shefter now, and we basically have the. And Cam Wolf as your, you know, sideline freelance reporter, baby. So, you know, there was some wiggle room there. I think Tom palace was the. The best person they let go. But also, I understand it where there was just too many big heads in the room, and you have. When you have the best, you don't need four of them. The other thing I could say it's always crazy and tough to see, like, big names go. It don't make sense on the surface. But the good news is Ryan Clark has an awesome podcast going. You Maybe not Pat McAfee size, but definitely still up there as far as a very respectable show with high level guests that they bring on and, and people tune in. So like Ryan Clark is fine at the end of the day in all of this.

But at the end of the day, like sports is King and, and ESPN is investing in the people and the talent and the IP that they believe is like, what the future of all of this looks like. Obviously, MLB draft happened last, I think it was last week. Couple pretty stacked draft, to say the least. I mean, from what you were hearing kind of before the draft, that pretty much anyone drafted in the top 20, you know, was like a legitimate, legitimate ball player, right? So you look at number one pick, you got Roch Cholowski signing the highest contract in MLB history. And then number two, Grady Emerson signing the largest contract for a player drafted out of high school, right? So obviously, you know, there's, there's talent. A kid out of high school coming in and getting one of the biggest contracts ever out of a high school, I mean, is, is ridiculous. And then you got the number 14th pick Miami Kid out of Gulliver going to the Marlins. That was cool to keep the kid in, in the hometown, right? So again, we're not going to touch too much on this, but it's exciting to see always, like whether mlb, NBA, NHL, right? Young talent coming in into the league and it's the future of the sport. And I do think baseball is in a very good place when it comes to that. I think golf is also in a very good place when it comes to that, right. A lot of young talent. That's the future, right? Because you can't hold on to the lebrons of the world forever, right? You can't hold on to the Tigers of the world forever, right? Like eventually there's got to be the next faces of these leagues, right? And I think the MLB is prime in a spot like that. I think golf is. They don't have that guy. Obviously you got Scotty and, you know, a couple Rory still up there. But we, we want that youth, right? We want those phenoms that, that are coming in. And I think this year with what you saw with baseball is a testament to, to what's to come there.

They finally snapped it in the second half of the double header. But they're right in, in contention now in the wild card after being like 10 games out of it. So crazy to see that. And then you got the Marlins on the other side who are now on a nine game skid after having the best record in baseball in the month of June. It's unfortunate to, to do that.

And I think that's great for this team because what, what has been the narrative before, right? This team's got to go win right now, right? You got Tyreek Hill, you just paid Tua, right? That narrative is out the door now. You got a team with little to no expectations. Young trying to prove himself. And that to me is. Is. Is great going into the season where we're just here to prove and at the coaching staff is here to prove. The GM is here to prove and the players are here to prove. So like, there's a couple things that if they do hit and those guys do start to develop and maybe take that next step in the progression or really just be the prospects that they're touted to be be. I mean, you can Make. Make some noise. And I really like, you know, in today's NFL, that's a formula win. I mean, that's how the Seahawks did, unfortunately. You know, when you draft well and your players develop well, you can't keep them all. But it got up to the super bowl. Half of those guys, they drafted.

But with the offense you literally hit on Malik Willis and one or two of these receivers, Caleb Douglas turns into that guy. We always say that if four guys like Chop Robinson, Jonah Kenneth Grant and Dante Trader take a huge second year step, third year step, you're a year faster in the rebuild than you thought you were. Immediately. If just four guys turn out to be the players you thought they would be, their rookie year, if they all. If those four guys take a giant step, dude, we're a year fat, We're a year further in the rebuild than we thought we were. And then you don't even know. That's not even talking about the rookie class. If Jacob Rodriguez is on the field Day 1 if Kyle Lewis is a chess piece linebacker slash safety moving all over the place. Chris Johnson is a QB one. You know, saying Kane Proctor is moving people on the left side. Patrick Paul, like, it can be faster than we think if we hit it right. Yeah, but I'm still not. So the question is, do you believe that you can string the bow of Odysseus or not? And if you can, how many tries would it take for you to do it?
