Alex
Man, start.
Bobby
Bam.
Pooch
I love it.
Bobby
If only you know. What the hell? If only you know. We're back. Happy Friday, guys. Being dudes. It's a beautiful, beautiful be.
Pooch
Bobby's just as confused as the audience right now. What the hell just happened?
Dave
Yeah, I missed the memo.
Bobby
Dude, that was at the buzzer. That was at the buzzer. Bobby, we'll tell you after the show.
Dave
Oh, y' all was watching me. No, no, no, no, no, no.
Bobby
I'll tell you. We'll tell you after the show what went down right. Right before we went live. You know? You know, just.
Alex
Oh, Lord.
Bobby
No, no, everything's good. Everything's good. But, hey, welcome back, everybody.
Alex
Happy Friday.
Bobby
We got a great show for you. We got Dave, we. We got Bobby, we got Pooch, we got Antonio, we got the crew here. We got everyone. And we got a great show for you, of course. World Cup. We're getting to the final week of the World cup, which is crazy to even think about. A lot of controversy around a lot of things involving Dave's boy over there. What do we got?
Max
Come on.
Bobby
Then. We got. We got some good, you know, predictions with some of the remaining games over here. We'll pick who we think is going to take it at this point. And then, of course, we got to talk LeBron. You know, Bobby wasn't on last week, so we got to get his thoughts on the Lakers, the moving on from LeBron and kind of this whole saga that LeBron's kind of going through right now with. With his agent and a couple teams, and then got a little Wimbledon also going on. There's actually a big game. I actually. I don't know if it's still on anymore, but Skinner and Djokovic were playing. They're playing right now. Skinner is up 64 in the first. First set.
Dave
Legendary matchup.
Bobby
Yes, very legendary matchup. And then, of course, we're gonna get into a little Messy debate with Mr. Dave over here.
Dave
Don't forget, don't forget, don't forget, the Irishman's back in the ring this weekend.
Bobby
Oh, yes, that's right. And we got a little.
Dave
Hold on now.
Bobby
A little Conor McGregor.
Alex
Max Holloway. Conor McGregor.
Pooch
I like two Irish. I think Patty's on that one, too, right? I think it's Pat. Patty's also fighting on that card.
Alex
I think so.
Pooch
The two Irishmen. I love it.
Bobby
That is good. Where. Where are they make doing that fight?
Pooch
I don't know. I feel like it's Vegas. I think I could be absolutely wrong on that.
Bobby
I could be Very wrong. Yeah, I could be.
Pooch
Very.
Dave
Should be. It should be Vegas with Conor's return, I would say, but I don't know.
Pooch
That's what I'm thinking. Yeah.
Bobby
All right, well, let's get into it, boys. Let's kick it off right now with, you know, what was a difficult game for Team USA last week. And just from the start, right. It just never felt like we even had a chance in that game. I think that was one of the worst performances we've seen in a long time from Team Eosa. Definitely the worst performance of this current World Cup. Obviously, the anticipation and the hype. Right. I mean, we were favorites. Not big favorites in that game, but we were favorites in that game. And then obviously, everything leading into that game with the Baligan situation, right.
Alex
We.
Bobby
We became the enemy of the World cup of. Based off how everything kind of went down, giving them kind of, like less than 24 hours notice that Baligan was going to be eligible to play. So there was a lot of, like, heat and hype and everything going into it, and we just did not back ourselves up, like, not even a little bit.
Pooch
No, I'm with you. I think the lights were almost too bright for these guys.
Bobby
Yeah.
Pooch
That was a moment that really could have cemented this team as. As a legendary USA team. Probably would have been the greatest run, I think, for us, really, like, in terms of moments and. And how the. You know, how they look.
Bobby
They.
Pooch
This team is the best USA team we've ever had.
Dave
Yes.
Pooch
Even with the disappointing end. But then it also brings up the questions, like, well, if this is the best team we ever had, like, you know, is the future looking sour for us? And I'm sure we'll get to that. But in terms of this game specifically, it was, like, you mentioned right off the gate, just, there was no energy there. There were. They looked sluggish. Belgium was peppering us two minutes in, like, it was like they. Belgium, which, honestly, again, Belgium is a country that is usually good, but, like, this was one of their weaker teams, like, in the sense of their guys are older.
Max
Right.
Bobby
They were still ranked number nine in FIFA World Cup's rankings.
Pooch
They weren't even playing Kevin de Bruyner. Lukako came in late, like, they were playing a very young team, and they were. They simply outplayed us from the start. And it looked like it. It's a very bad look for this team to come out home field advantage. Seattle's the hub of U.S. soccer. And then I just. It really looked like the noise and the Lights were too bright for this team, and they just kind of laid over and so extremely disappointing. It was a very, very disappointing performance by them.
Dave
Yeah, Yeah, y' all boys covered it all pretty much. But, yeah, it was just disappointing because the build up, we really started to buy in. We really had the momentum. I don't think anybody thought we were actually going to win the World cup, but, like, I thought we could make it past this round for sure. And then, like, David kind of said it was over when it started. Like, we're two minutes in, and you're like, they just scored so easy. It looked like me playing with my kids in the backyard, and I was like. And then we got the free kick or the penalty kick, and so it gave us a little bit of life. And they scored immediately again. I was like, yeah, immediately.
Bobby
I didn't even get to enjoy it. I didn't get to enjoy it. I, I remember I poured myself a beer. I'm like, oh, baby, we're 2:1. This beer is right back. It's gonna get me going again because I was down, bro. I'm like, we're gonna get our. Our butts handed to us. And honestly, that beer brought me right back. And by the time I finished pouring, I don't even think I got to take a sip out of it. I look up and I'm like, holy. They just scored again. And. And that was it. Like, that sucked the life out of us. 31, right? That was 3:1 at that.
Pooch
The. The mistake goal.
Bobby
3:1 was the mistake.
Pooch
No, three. Yeah. I'm saying the second. It was.
Dave
It was 1:1. Then they scored again. 2:1.
Bobby
Oh, so we made it 1:1, right?
Max
Okay.
Bobby
That's what it was. Yeah. And then they scored two one immediately.
Pooch
And then, stupid. The third goal was.
Bobby
The third goal was a disaster.
Pooch
I mean, that. That's an MLS master class. That is what happens when you're starting goalie and you're captain of the team and you're.
Alex
You're.
Pooch
You staple on defense are two MLS guys. I mean, it is. They continues to plague us. Like, we need better guys.
Bobby
I mean, I, I, I was saying it going into that game, right? That Team USA needed to play a perfect game going into that game, and they did the complete opposite of that. It was like, hey, you know, you're not Spain, you're not France, you're not Argentina, right? You're not Portugal, right, Where you can almost get away with it sometimes when you don't play the cleanest game, right? But we did. We did Nothing. Well, in that game, right? Goalie play was, well, was poor, you know, Pulisic. Although apparently he was dealing with an injury. Apparently he had a broken. Yeah, somewhat of like a micro broken ankle or of some sort and a bone bruise, you know, clearly was not healthy. And that's a whole other conversation itself. Right? But if you're going to have your star players playing like that on the biggest stage, you have absolutely no chance against anyone in the World cup. And. And that's what went down, right?
Pooch
You.
Bobby
You do when you don't have the firepower like some of these other teams do. I mean, look at France, right? And Bape touches the ball and that guy's going to score no matter where the hell he's at. Like, we don't have that firepower. But you could still, right? There's still ways to win, right? Like, if you play a complete game as a team, as a collective defense, does their job, that sets up the offense, right? Like, that's going to give yourself the best chance. Obviously, you're not maybe guaranteed to win when you're playing a team like France and, and Spain and. And some of these other powerhouses. But we showed up and we played our worst game against the best team that we played, and that's why we lost four to one.
Alex
Yeah, I do have a question. So I feel like the impression is, like, around sports, once you get a taste of what it could be like and get a taste of, like, being so close, you know, you see like a big push of, you know, let's actually go out there and try to win this thing. Do you see a bigger commitment behind soccer from, like a national stage after, you know, this run and having the energy and having that feeling of, like, wow, this team can make it. Because the things being told that we have a lot of talent right now, young talent in Europe, that these guys are going to be the future of Team usa. I think Cole Sullivan is a name that, you know, at 18, Manchester City already has, and we have a goalkeeper for Barcelona. Do you see, like, us actually investing into, like, developing this talent, actually going out and finding talent? I mean, let's be honest, no one on France is from France like you. How do you see us going out there and finding kids? Like, were you accidentally born in America or even just in house actually putting money and actually investing time into a soccer team and actually a competitive soccer team that can go on and compete with. With these European teams? Because, yeah, it's fun to kick, you know, curls or, you know, not a Bosnia's ass and Paraguay's ass. But then, you know, you go up against the Belgiums and then, God forbid we won, we had to go up against Spain, there's no chance we winning that game. So do you see us actually committing and finding talent to actually make a full commitment to soccer or a bigger commitment to soccer at least?
Pooch
Yeah, I, I, there was a few questions in there. I'll answer them like this. In the sense of the commitment to soccer and what this World cup specifically has done for the growth of the game in this country, I absolutely believe they will invest more and they will make this a bigger priority. Not that it wasn't a priority, but make this really something. Because as you can see, like, with the World cup being here, like, instantly, Americans have been sure everyone knew what soccer was, it's the biggest sport in the world. But like, the investment of Americans, because they've got other, we've got other sports, football, basketball, whatever, that soccer is very low in the totem pole now. I don't think this is going to make people care about soccer more than any of those sports, to be honest. I, I, I, I But I think as an investment into getting better, 100%, they, they have no, like, no other choice in the sense that they know how good this team can be. And to your point about like, you know, like France, right? Like, the big thing with France, a lot of them, you know, weren't necessarily born in France, but at the end of day, like, you can't also just go recruit people. Like, that's also not how it works. Like, they do have t. So, like, they, yes, they can choose, they can choose to play for France or wherever they're from. But like, we can't, like, we can't go recruit Mbappe, like, we can't just throw money at them and like, come to play for us. Like, that just, we, it just can't happen. So the investment does have to come into the academies getting, you know, these players that are playing overseas. That's where they, you know, you get your best reps. You can't. The biggest issue with us, right, like, like, for example, Mbappe played at PSG in France for forever. Like, we don't have those guys because the mls, again, no offense, I'm gonna take a shot at the MLS again. It's a terrible league. Like, so, like, there's not, it's not like somebody's growing up and coming to play in the MLS at 16 years old or in an academy at 12 years old here. That's, you know, to the caliber of player. But I do think in terms of investment and wanting to grow the game and want, this is a huge step for the sport and in America, and I believe they will come out much hotter, hopefully, you know, the next time around. But. Because, yes, pooch, it is like, not that we were close in the sense that we weren't. We got knocked out in the quarterfinals. Like, sure, it's it close, but I think there was enough of a spark that this team gave that it was so disappointing. It makes this loss even more disappointing that I think we will come back hungrier. So I think I tried answering as much of that as I possibly could.
Alex
You did a good job.
Dave
And on this, on the surface alone, like, I do believe just. Just having the World cup here in general.
Pooch
Yeah.
Dave
And seeing the fun, seeing the crowds, that was huge. Seeing the environment was huge for soccer in general, I think, yeah, all. If nothing else, it was a win for soccer. And yeah, I agree with David. It's never going to be football. Football here or basketball here, but I do think it's considered now. It's. It's one of those big, you know, big four. It may not be number one or two, but. Or even three. But I think it is considered now. I think people do realize, okay, this is a lot of fun. This is a cool thing. And I do think it was still a win for soccer across the board.
Bobby
I. I agree and I disagree a little bit with. With both your points. Right. I mean, I don't know if you saw the statistics on that USA, that last USA game, but 40 million people watch that game here in the United States. 40 million. That's more than NBA Finals games. Like, it is a significant, significant number. And I think to Bobby's point, the fact that the World cup was here in the States had a big factor into, like, generating more hype, not only around soccer, but around rallying around the team and wanting. Wanting to support the World cup as a whole. I do think, though, that it's a mixed bag, right, because we had an opportunity to really get people to buy into it. Right. But what's kind of happened the last couple World Cups, it feels like, is like we are on this hamster wheel where every year it's the same thing. Like, we're a good team. We're a good team. We have talent. We have talent, right? Like, you got guys playing in some of the best teams in the best leagues. Like, we should be good, right? And then here we are, and we could just never really get over that. Hurdle into making a deep run. And I think that's something that people are kind of tired of. Right. So what is the expectation now moving forward? Right. Is it just like, hey, this is what we're going to be and like, we take it and we move on, or do we double down to really try to find a way to make soccer a powerhouse, to be com. To be able to compete at the largest level? Obviously, it's not going to happen overnight, right?
Alex
Yeah.
Bobby
Is it something that happens next World Cup? I don't think so. Does it happen in two World Cups from now? Maybe. Right. I mean, it's all about investing in the youth. Like, that's, that's all what everybody talks about, right? How do you invest in youth soccer here in the States? So you do have maybe some of these 15, 16, 17 year old kids that are going to be more inclined to want to play soccer, Right? I mean, that's, that's ultimately what it comes down to because, yes, from like a youth perspective, everybody plays football, baseball and basketball here in the States. Right. Soccer is obviously growing and I think we're starting to see that, that trend start to change. But there, there's clearly a demand here. When you have 40 million people watching soccer, right? Like, that tells you something. That was not a final, was a quarterfinal game, obviously with a lot on the line. But it tells you that there's clearly a demand from a viewership standpoint. We have to be able to rally around that. Right. Because there's no reason why, if we're the United States of America, why we should not be able to compete at the highest level. The talent is here. It's just getting people to want to play soccer. That's going to then use that to become a catalyst to develop legitimately talented soccer players.
Pooch
But that's, that's the thing that will always hinder us though, is that no matter what. Yes. Like, soccer is the world's biggest sport. I mean, the World cup close, the World cup final draws in billions. It's like, you know what I mean? Like, it is. But in America it's the fifth.
Bobby
Like, and it's not though. It's already, it's already top three, top four in viewership here in the United States.
Pooch
Yes, but it's also the World cup, right? Like, that's also.
Bobby
No, that's not, that's not World cup numbers. Like, that's just soccer viewership as a whole.
Pooch
That's what I'm saying. But it's like the world is watching, like, versus just America, like You know, I mean, like, in the sense of, yes, this has been super exciting for Americans, but once this thing's over, football season is turning around, and that is.
Bobby
No, that's the Mecca.
Pooch
And then basketball starts and then baseball. We got to play like. Like, it still has ways to go in this country to jump any of those sports. And also, a lot of our money is into. And it doesn't help that, like, we have technically, like, more money is being put into the mls, Right. A lot of these. But it is really a retirement league in the sense of these guys are coming after their careers and they're coming here the biggest. They need to invest more into the mls because the more, I guess, the more. What's the term trying to look for, I guess the competitive of a league that. Because the reason why in. Outside of the roots of the sport. But, you know, you've got the Premier League in England, you got La Liga, you got the Bundesliga in Germany. Like, these are the. Those countries biggest. Like that. These people are obsessed. They grow up as kids obsessed in this country. They. They're obsessed with football, American football. They're obsessed with basketball because it's the most accessible. You pick up a ball and you go to the court. Like, he. Like, it's just like, we have ways to go to build that, which is why, like, I don't know if we'll ever get to the lengths of, like, a France. Like, I look at France, I'm like, who the hell's beating this team? Like, I. Even as good as we could be. Like, we can. We can take massive leaps. And I'm like, there's just. Some of these countries have a level and there's a reason why, like, only, like, six countries I've ever won the World Cup. It's been the same six or seven.
Bobby
Yeah. I think it's eight or nine that I've ever won.
Dave
It's like, I think you boys are both nailing it. I think our biggest obstacle is the numbers game, and I think that's why we will always struggle there. And I think that's just the reality of it. Yeah, I think that these countries have millions of kids coming up playing soccer, therefore the odds of finding generational talent is that much higher. Where if France has a million kids playing soccer, we have a hundred thousand. Therefore, we might find really one. One really good kid, while they find three generational. And it's just a numbers game that we're against. Because, look, I'll say it myself. My wife's trying to push my son into soccer. He's four years old. I'm like, you know, but your dad played football. But, like. But it's. It's that simple, though. I can. I'm. I'm living it firsthand right now. Like, I want my kid to be a football player. My wife is suggesting soccer because it's safer, but in. In America, that is the common trend. You don't you. No one dreams of their kid being a soccer star at least, you know, not a lot. I mean, you want your kid to be the next Tom Brady. You want your kid to be LeBron James. No one really wants their kid to be the next Ballistic.
Pooch
Yeah.
Dave
So it just is what it is in America. You're going to send your kid to football, and if they don't go to football, they'll be a basketball star. They're not a basketball star. They'd be a baseball star. And then maybe soccer. So, like, you don't. You're going to get what's left out of those athletes, and then you're going to try to hope that you find a generational talent who didn't already find success somewhere else. And that's what we're up against, where every kid's going to go to soccer first in another country, and if it doesn't work, maybe something else.
Pooch
Yeah. And so, like, I hope you are right. Like, listen, again, soccer is the biggest sport in the world. I'm hoping this is a spark for this country to realize how amazing this game is. It is just like, in terms of, you know, the youth. Like, we got. We got Maxi here, he's a soccer player, but, like, for every max, there's five guys that are. Are playing other sports. Like, you know what I'm saying? Like, a lot of these other countries, it's, again, soccer first, football first, and then it's, you know, and you can see even basketball is getting a big international, like, boost because it is an easy sport to pick up. So, I don't know. I'm. I'm hopeful. I'm hopeful because obviously this country is glittered with talent. We see that in terms of athletic ability, athletes that we produce across the board in other sports now, we're hoping that it translate and we take this more, like, even more seriously than we already are. But, like, this is, you know, obviously it is a very disappointing thing, but there was a lot of promise, at least in this run where, you know, I think they, if they get more young guys like Putra saying, like, some of those guys that are playing overseas and, and everybody really buys into this team. We can do something now. It's not guaranteeing we'll win. I mean, again, there's some teams out there. Like, I look at France and whatever,
Bobby
but we could play France's game a little bit, right? To Pooch's point, A lot of those guys are not. They have the connection to France, obviously. Like, they're very legal and able to play for teams they're not recruiting. No issue. Yeah, but if you think about what the USA is like, we're a melting pot of people from all over the world, Right? And by the way, all over the world where soccer is also very big. Right? So grab those guys and turn them into your. Into your studs.
Pooch
I've got your answer.
Alex
Like a recruiting battle. We have to recruit Baligan to not play for England.
Bobby
We got to get the soccer malfunction.
Alex
Like, it was like an official visit. You know, they took pictures, you know, with the jerseys.
Bobby
Ronaldo was born on the United. That's what I was going say.
Pooch
That was going to. That's what I was going to say. The ne. The. The answer to all this. The answer of all. The savior of all our problems and. Is Cristiano Ronaldo Jr. American born.
Alex
Unless he goes to Cabo Verde.
Pooch
He may. He may go to Cabo Verde, but it's. He is American. He is American, folks.
Bobby
Got a case.
Pooch
He is coming to save us. Don't you worry everyone you know, let's pause the panic. Cristiano Ronaldo Jr. Is coming, and we're good. We are saved.
Bobby
Could Messi's kids also play? Hey, usa.
Pooch
We're good now. Never say that again. We're good now. You can rest.
Alex
I think we should talk about Pulisic.
Bobby
Well, I. Yes, I actually am gonna bring something up about that. Did you guys see the. Landon Donovan and him don't like each other.
Pooch
Can I say something?
Bobby
What's going on there?
Pooch
I'm gonna curse on the show.
Bobby
Go, go, go.
Pooch
Fuck Landon Donovan. I cannot stand. No, but seriously, I thought. Listen, I think that the criticism of Pulisic is very. Like, it's earned. You can absolutely. The way landed Donovan. Like, Lana Donovan's his condescending video. Yeah, I was like, get over yourself.
Dave
No offense.
Pooch
Yeah, great. Landed on. You were on a. You were a great spark. You're not as. Even in the same ballpark as Christian Pulisic. Like, he was trying to compare himself, like, you know, being the star of the usa. Like. I know and.
Dave
Shut up.
Alex
Alexi Lalas. They can't stand him on There.
Bobby
Yeah.
Alex
Every second they get it's Thiago, Henry, Himage. And then.
Bobby
But what's the beef between them?
Pooch
So I don't.
Bobby
Because he even mentions. He's like, I know Pulisic's not going to really pay attention to this.
Pooch
It's the beef between. Com. Analyst versus player. Right. Like, him being obviously critical of him. I'm sure Pulisic's probably like, all right, screw this guy. You know, I mean, I'm. I'm sure that's kind of the reason for it. I don't know. There might be other factors. I'm just kind of assuming.
Bobby
Yeah.
Pooch
Yeah. Landon Donovan also, like, I just can't stand his voice on the. I. I have a thing against Landon Donovan. I am fully aware he's. He's an opinion. But yeah, I. But I will say, the Christian Pulisic conversation, I think some people have taken it to a point that is, like, kind of ridiculous. But I also do believe that he deserves to get some criticism because outside of, like, the first half of Paraguay, obviously he does get a little hurt. But, like, he is our star. He is the, you know, and he.
Bobby
He hasn't been healthy for the last two World Cups.
Pooch
My. My biggest issue with him is less of. Obviously. Listen, injuries are injuries, but, you know, you can't. His, like, not mentality. But I guess his approach to the World cup kind of being like, when they interview him, like, oh, it's, you know, it's just another tournament. Like, it's not that big. Like, if you're going to be the lead, like the Captain America.
Alex
He was.
Bobby
He did the Aaron Judge.
Pooch
Yes, he did the Aaron. Yeah, he did the Aaron Judge. But that's. I need you to be all in. I need you to be all in, my man. So. But listen, he is fantastic, but I agree, very lackluster in this World cup. And, like, it just. Something's been off with him because again, he didn't play in the Gold cup like, he. He is. There's something going on with him because it's very strange.
Bobby
I. Listen, I know you turn critical about. You turn on them. Huh?
Pooch
You've turned on him.
Bobby
I picked him to win the Golden Boot. I went all in on him. I went in all in. And I. I knew that was a little. A very big of a stretch. Right. But that was me saying, like, I back Pulisic. Yeah. And I expected him to have a good tournament. Did I actually think he was going to win the Golden Boot? Absolutely not. If it happened, we would have won the World cup, you know, But. But the reality is I just. Yeah. Go, go, go.
Dave
I just remember us sitting here, y' all was at Flan against. Talking about how upset we were that he was injured and how that was going to be such an obstacle. And maybe it was injuries, but, man, if you don't watch soccer and you're watching usa, you would never think. He never gave me an idea that he was the best player on that team.
Bobby
Yeah, yeah.
Dave
You couldn't tell. He didn't separate himself at all.
Bobby
Yeah, yeah.
Dave
The kid from Nigeria was our.
Bobby
In my eyes, that Baligan, by far, was our biggest player. I mean, that's. Into that game. It was like, hey, how are we going to even win this guy game? Because this guy's been by far our best guy. Right? And we got him back. We're like, okay, holy cow, We. We're going to have a chance now again. But reality is, it didn't make a difference because honestly, no one showed up in that game. And. And when your stars don't show up in the biggest game, you're going to lose that game 10 out of 10 times and add all the mistakes that we make, and then it turns into a blowout and that. And that's exactly what that was.
Dave
And he might have been injured.
Bobby
He was. He definitely was injured. I mean, you could tell, right? And it's unfortunate because the last two World Cups, he hasn't been healthy. And you need your best guys to be healthy. Right. It's the same thing as if.
Dave
Especially when it matters the most.
Bobby
Yeah. If it's like, LeBron's not available for game five of the Finals. Yeah. You know, you're gonna feel the. The. The, you know, the consequences of that. Right. And, yeah, that's just unfortunately where. Where this team is, and I don't think this team. And we're about to lose the clubs behind Gabe, and it might take everything down with it.
Dave
Jesus Christ.
Bobby
Gabe.
Dave
Production.
Bobby
I met Dave. We're good.
Pooch
Yeah, everything's fine. Fell, but it's okay.
Bobby
Everything's fine.
Alex
I'm gonna take a full screen because I think the last straw with polishing was a quote from this last game and his kind of, like, approach and the way he kind of worded it, which is this one right here.
Bobby
I think they took that out of context.
Alex
This is like the quote everyone's talking about. I mean, I think it's just the. The term. I have time to rest. I think that's what pissed a lot
Bobby
of people, I think. Yeah, of course. And, like, people Said it. He's like, he rested for. What was it, the. The other tournament? Right.
Dave
Whatever. Exactly. Jesus Christ.
Max
It's.
Bobby
It's a tough spot. Right. And when you have a bad tournament like that, of course everybody's going to take this and use it as like another form of ammunition to come after him. Right. It's. It's a tough spot to be in. I think he's a mix of frustration for not being healthy again. Right. And not being available.
Pooch
But.
Bobby
Yes. Like, you could have probably worded it differently, had a kind of a different tone to it, but I don't think anybody's happy about the situation. And I don't think Pulisic doesn't give a crap about Team usa. I generally do think he absolutely does. I just.
Pooch
I. Yeah, 100. I think he also maybe needs to be a little media trained, too. Yes, for sure.
Bobby
But.
Pooch
Yeah, sure.
Bobby
Yeah.
Dave
Well, also that is also his thoughts after losing after. That's already. That's already established. So it's not like he's like. I mean, it's tough. The court looks bad. But you also got to realize that you've lost. So. Yeah. What are you thinking about now with the injury? I'm not gonna get stuck on it because I do have time to rest now. Unfortunately. We lost. Whatever. But the quote itself looks bad out of context. But you also got to realize that.
Bobby
Exactly.
Dave
He has been eliminated. He already knows this.
Bobby
Yeah. Yeah, exactly.
Pooch
Yeah.
Bobby
All right, let's get into to the rest of these games. Now. We have made it to the final A. France actually played yesterday. So France has advanced. They beat Morocco and what was a close game there for a little bit until France just became too much. But we got a couple more games. We got Argentina and Switzerland, Norway and England, and then Spain and Belgium.
Pooch
What happened?
Bobby
What's going on over there?
Pooch
You can keep it up.
Bobby
No, it's fine.
Max
It's fine.
Pooch
It's a.
Bobby
The golf clubs can be.
Pooch
I saw you walking with a smirk. I thought you were about to do something.
Max
Yeah.
Bobby
So obviously we got France already that advanced. How do we feel about the remaining games? Right? I mean, they're all. They're all going to be great games. Argentina, Switzerland. Argentina continues to find ways to escape.
Pooch
I'll tell you how they find it.
Bobby
Norway and England is going to be a hell of a game this weekend here in Miami. And then Spain and Belgium, which is the game that, you know, we would have hypothetically played in, but blessing in disguise.
Pooch
I. I think the. The England, Norway game is the most exciting. Exciting Yeah, I think, I mean, Holland, absolutely. Holland's on a generational run right now. People are being introduced to him for the first time, are absolutely loving him. He's hilarious. He is. And he's always been like this. He's great. And he's bringing this Norway team that again, Norway is a country that, that, I mean, I think what, it's the first time they qualified in like 28 years. And they obviously have him, they have Odard, but like that they are a, they have been a team that's been slept on. Obviously people kind of consider them because they have Holland, but they're like, all right, you know, how far can they go? Yeah, this team has what it takes to beat England. Like, I actually really think they do it, granted. You know, I, I, my mind says England will move forward. My heart says Norway is going to win this thing. But I think that's the, definitely the game to watch. Argentina, Switzerland, the fixes in. I mean, it's, we don't even have to touch on that game. That game, it's probably going to be, it's probably going to be 4 0, Switzerland and then all of a sudden we're gonna get, we're gonna get three removed and Argentina is gonna win two one. So, you know, fixes in. Screw that game. We'll talk about him later. And, and then Belgium. Spain. Spain. Spain's very interesting because they just bore you to death.
Bobby
They haven't given up a goal.
Pooch
They haven't given up a goal that they, they do what they, they do what they do. And you know, I'm curious. See, Belgium, you know, is, I saw this thing today. I was like most shots on goal, second most goals this tournament going up against obviously a team that hasn't allowed any. Spain is very good. They, they, they're almost like, do like the Anaconda Chokehold that they used to say what the Panthers did, you know, but there's, I, I expect Spain to win that game. I do. But I, again, I'm gonna expect to be a very low scoring, tight, tight game and they'll just win it at the end because that's what they've been doing. They've been holding on Spain.
Bobby
For me, it could go one of two ways, right? I think you, you nailed it, right? They've been kind of doing that, that choke of death, right, where they just don't give up anything. Yeah, but they've had so many looks to score that honestly has just been misses on their part. Right? Like they, they, a lot of these Games are winning 102 0, but they could be winning 4, 5, 0 in some of these games with some of the looks that they get, like, they get deep into the box. They have some really good looks. Spain could be this team. If they could just find a way to start scoring, they can honestly go and go run it. I know they got to play France next if they win this game. And France looks insane.
Pooch
Yeah. Do.
Alex
Yeah.
Pooch
And it's ridiculous that, that all these powerhouses are on the same side. Let's just.
Bobby
Yeah. I mean, it's absurd. Yeah. And then you got Argentina. Like, everybody's knocking each other out before they even get to Argent.
Pooch
Argentina's struggling with, with, with Cape Verde in Egypt. And on the other side, it's like the meme is like, it's, they're an absolute war. Like.
Bobby
Yeah.
Pooch
Yeah. It's crazy.
Bobby
Yeah. No, unfortunately, it's going to be, I mean, if I gotta go, I'm gonna go. Obviously, France already won. It's gonna be France, Argentina, Norway and Spain.
Pooch
Yeah. That's what my, that's what my heart says to.
Bobby
I don't know.
Pooch
I, I think England, England is very good. That we, we know how they are. Good. I just, I can see this Norway team just like being like that team of, of destiny vibe to then of course, get cheated out in the semifinals probably. But I really do think Norway has, like, a really good shot in this game. But England is very good.
Bobby
Yeah.
Pooch
So, like, I, I don't know, man. I, I, I like the prediction. I like, I like the Norway pick. I will ride with you on the Norway pick. But, but yeah, I'm excited, Bobby.
Dave
I think the biggest, the biggest win, I think is if you're an American and you've been watching, there's still plenty of reason to watch. There's a lot of juggernauts left. If you have gotten here this far, stay on board because you're about to see some really, really good soccer.
Pooch
Yeah.
Bobby
It's a preview as to what we could possibly be, you know, hopefully.
Max
Right.
Bobby
Like, I mean, that's the thing when you, especially when you've been watching from group stage to now, you could just see the level of difference on some of these teams. Right? Like the way France plays, the way Spain plays, the way Argentina plays, like England plays. Right. All these teams just, like, they're just ridiculously good at soccer.
Max
Right.
Bobby
And it shows, right? Like, that's the difference. And yes, teams like Cap of Verde, it seems like Egypt. Right. That ironically both went through Argentina.
Max
Right.
Bobby
Also looks really Good, right? And they were nowhere near as talented as some of these teams. And I think that's the beauty of what this World cup has been, is that like, anybody's really had a chance up to this point, right? It's been very competitive even early on. But at the end of the day, the best always find a way to prevail. And now here we are down to the, to the final few. And it'll be, it'll be interesting.
Pooch
I just, like, I, I literally don't know if anyone can take down this France team. To me, they, we knew this going into the tournament, how good they were, but, like, people, you know, myself included, were like, you know, Spain's got a really good chance. They still do. But I'm saying, like, Spain, England, all these teams. France has looked even on another level than those teams. Like, it looks like it's just France and then the, the main tier and then everybody else. Like, France is. It's diabolical. They are looking insane.
Dave
I think it's France and then Spain. But I will say it's awesome to see if Messi or Holland can carry, you know, Norway or Argentina. It's cool to see a juggernaut really go into that mode and see if they really can't catapult a team.
Bobby
Yeah, it is crazy how good the good players are, right? Like, Messi's got eight goals. Holland's. Holland's got eight too.
Pooch
Or seven. Right now he's at seven and Bape
Bobby
and Papa just got to eight. Like the best of the best are showcasing themselves at the biggest stage.
Pooch
Right in front of you, though, Kane also.
Bobby
Kane's sitting at six, I think right now.
Pooch
Seven. Seven. Is he going in? Yeah, there. There's a four way tie at seven.
Bobby
Who has six then? Somebody has six.
Pooch
Messi. I don't know.
Alex
Maybe.
Bobby
No, Dembele has five after yesterday.
Pooch
Yeah.
Max
I don't know.
Pooch
But Kane, Kane is there. It's. I. I'm like 90.
Max
What?
Bobby
He has six, right? Yeah, Kane has six.
Pooch
Oh, look at that. Max. Max, get on the stamp show, Max, give your predictions.
Max
Come here.
Bobby
We got our summer socce.
Max
Yes.
Pooch
Here you can give.
Bobby
Give us your thoughts, give us your thought.
Dave
Here, sit on David's lap.
Pooch
Look at him.
Bobby
He sit on Dav's lap.
Pooch
Kicking me out of my.
Bobby
He's been waiting. He's been waiting for this moment. Everybody, welcome Max to the show. He is our summer intern. He plays goalie for. Well, I'll let him make the intro. Go for it, Max.
Max
I don't know how to put this thing on.
Bobby
Oh, man. Off to a hot start on his first. On his first show.
Dave
It's not his fault David has a fat ass head.
Bobby
There we go.
Max
Well, I'm Max. I go to Belen. I play soccer. But my predictions for this World cup quarterfinal is the same thing as you guys. But I want to go back and touch base on something on the USA thing that you guys were talking about. The only way that soccer is going to expand in this country is if we fix the rep. If we add relegation and promotion in this country. If not this, we're never gonna.
Bobby
I like that. I like that take. I like that take a lot. Yeah. 100. The best of the best.
Max
Like, it's just. They're just playing with no purpose. There's no purpose that's fair anymore.
Bobby
That's very true. That's very true.
Pooch
How did you get into soccer?
Max
I was 2 years old, living in Buenos Aires, and my dad put a ball on my feet and I just played soccer, I guess. Wow.
Bobby
Yeah, that'll do it. That'll do it. Buenos Aires, you know, soccer ball. Yeah. The rest is history. But you are Team Mexico, right?
Max
Yes, I was going for Mexico because my mom's from Mexico. Mexico. But unfortunately we lost England. Yeah, that we should have won.
Bobby
Yeah, that was a. That was a heartbreaker for. For Mexico. Another one of those games, like, a little controversial with the refs.
Max
Right? I mean, Mexico's penalty that was called for us was never a penalty. Yeah, but I don't know. We've had our fair chances. Even without the penalty, I think we still should have won. We had the chances. Pickford played probably the game of his life as well.
Bobby
He did. So, yeah, that messed us up a little bit before. Before we let Dave back on here. But give me your. Who's going to be in the final and who's going to win it all?
Max
Final. France, Norway. I'm go with.
Bobby
Oh, France, Norway.
Max
I believe in the Norwegians. I think they have a lot of help with Holland. Holland has helps on the wings with Antonio Noosa, Oscar, Bob. He just has a lot of players that are just giving him some help. He also has a good midfielder, good midfield. Sanderberg, like you, just has help all around. So I think Norway have a lot of fire and they can make it to the finals. But whoever gets to the finals, just
Bobby
getting destroyed by F. Yeah, I feel the same way. I feel that same way. And Bape, baby. Well, Max, thanks for. For tuning in and jumping in. I like the relegation take. I Like the relegation take.
Max
See you guys.
Dave
Much needed break from David.
Bobby
Thanks, dude.
Pooch
Let's go.
Dave
Oh, my God. David missed you so much,
Bobby
dude.
Pooch
It's crazy how much, like, Max literally just mogged the hell out of Bobby, dude.
Dave
Yeah, it's funny how Pooch had to just zoom out four times to get you back in frame.
Bobby
That's crazy. That's crazy.
Alex
That's up. Let me. Let me do the.
Pooch
There's no coming back from that one.
Bobby
Oh, we need to use that more. I forgot we have that.
Alex
I know, I forgot he was here playing with it the whole time. He's like, pooch, why don't you use this?
Bobby
Yeah, yeah, that's funny. All right, well, that's it about World Cup. There, you got it. We're going France and. And Norway in the final. Right? I think we all would like that one. I wouldn't mind Spain also. Spain would be cool. I'm down for that. But I think on the. On that other side, we're all kind of rooting for norway. Like, that's 100.
Pooch
I am.
Dave
Yeah, that'd be cool.
Bobby
Yeah. All right, let's talk some Mr. LeBron James in the NBA, Bobby. He is officially done with the LA Lakers. You can officially move on. The Lakers have made a lot of moves since that day, and we. We didn't get to talk on it as much, so. You know what, we'll give the floor to you, Bobby. Tell us about how you're feeling about your Lakers and. And what do you think about this LeBron saga going on?
Dave
Yeah, I think first and foremost, I'm just glad Wingo's not here to try to give me some.
Bobby
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Dave
Cuz I know he was spinning webs that day, but he did say that
Bobby
LeBron was going to be on the Heat on Monday. So here we are Friday, and nothing's absolutely happening.
Dave
I. I was gonna say. I. I'll go ahead and double down there. Since you brought it up. Wingo. Wingo sent me a LeBron gift this morning in a Heat jersey. And I assume he's thinking LeBron's on his way. And, you know, Wingo is plugged in pretty good. Holy. My cat's been sleeping behind me this whole time.
Alex
Holy.
Dave
I thought it was Batman.
Bobby
It's Wingo. It's Wingo sneaking up on you.
Dave
He said the back signal. You know, Wingo is plugged in in the agent world and he hears a lot of things. He talks to a lot of different people. So, hey, that could be something. There is definitely a Lot of steam. It's not like that would be a surprise to anybody at this point. I don't see it with Philly. Before I get too much on tangent, I don't see it with Philly because Joel Embiid is wet toilet paper. His knees could snap at any second now. Now you went to Philly for what? And I. I just don't see that one. I really think it's a Cavs just for the legacy thing. Yeah. Or the Heat, because he's already played there. I think the biggest point I've ever heard in this whole process about LeBron and where he'll play is I think LeBron's a big legacy guy, and I don't think he wants to go to a new city.
Pooch
Yeah.
Dave
For one more run that means nothing for him. So I really do think it's the Heater Cavs. With that being said, I want to say this first, before I seem like I do not give a damn about LeBron leaving Lakers. It's never a bad thing to have a guy like LeBron on your team. I don't care if he's 50 years old or 30 years old. Losing his brain alone is a loss.
Bobby
Yeah.
Dave
But I do want to say I do not feel like it's as simple as the public is trying to make it. I think the Lakers were moving in a different direction and allowed LeBron to do the public breakup and handle it his way. I also think it's kind of crazy because if he was willing to take the vet minimum, he'd probably be in LA and this would have never happened.
Pooch
Yeah.
Dave
But now he's all like, I'm willing to take whatever, do whatever. I'm willing to be the third. Third man. But it was a problem when it was Reeves and Luca above him. So it just seems a little LeBron to me.
Bobby
Yeah.
Dave
I'm not gonna sit here and hate on him, though. He came here, he won. He won a championship. That's all I need. You came here and got hardware. There's nothing bad I could say about you. I know, like, when he left Miami the first time, a lot of people were mad at him. But, dude, he brought championships to that city. You guys, you do whatever you want. At that point, you come here and you do the job. And he did it twice for y'.
Pooch
All. Yeah.
Dave
I feel like you can leave. With that being said, I. It'd be cool to see him back at Miami. I think that'd be electric for you guys. For the sake of this show, for the sake of the city, it's. It's on fire right now. So I think that would be awesome.
Max
So sick.
Dave
The Lakers, they had to get Kessler. I think if you don't go get Kessler after LeBron publicly breaking up with you, that's. It's a bad all season.
Bobby
Yeah.
Dave
Reeves obviously comes back on the max getting Kessler and who. People don't realize this is the best big man that Luca Doncic has had in his whole career. I think that's going to be huge. I know we're still talking maybe getting.
Max
Damn it.
Dave
What's his name? Is the dude from the Hawks a dude from the.
Alex
Is it.
Max
Hold on.
Dave
Yeah, something like that. Anyways, an electric high riser lob threat also to add to this team. I think as far as the money goes, I didn't think we could do as much as we did. But that also goes back to my original point. We had grievous on here.
Bobby
Yeah.
Dave
If you're not paying a guy like LeBron, there's so much more you can do and build a team. And that's why I always said if LeBron would take a pay cut, I'm all about it, but we're not going to build. Build a contender with LeBron on the team at a max slot. LeBron leaves. You see the correlating moves. I think they build a damn good team. They're still missing a couple pieces. I don't know if, like, we're winning a final still, but I do like what they have done, and I think they did better than they could have in a lot of ways.
Bobby
I mean, I think there's still just a lot of moves still to be made in. In this NBA kind of like offseason free agency. Right. Like, everybody's. I think everybody's still trying to figure out. I think obviously LeBron is a big domino effect as to what else will happen around the league. Right. I mean, I don't think a lot of teams are actually in contention for LeBron, so I don't know why there's certain teams that aren't making moves right now, But I think LeBron is kind of just like the tipping point that then starts ex. You know, igniting moves across the league. But at the end of the day, right, like, whether you're the Lakers, you're the Heat. Right. You're a lot of these. Even. Even Boston, like with Boston and that Jalen Brown trade, like, they have. As much as people are getting, you know, as much as Celtics are getting criticized for that move, they have A lot of flexibility now, like, they have draft pick capital that they can use for trades, that if they just want to go get another superstar, they could, right? Brad Stevens went and spoke about how they needed to just like open up Cap. Because if you're going to pay Jaylen Brown and Tatum, like, to your point, Bobby, you can't build the roster, right? Like, you're just, your hands are tied and all of a sudden you can't really build a team around them. And that was what Brad's. Stevens was seeing. He's like, yeah, we could be a contender now, obviously, with these two guys, a legitimate contender, right? But at the end of the day, if we're going to look about what this team's going to look like in two, three, four, five years, we're going to be screwed compared to the rest of the league, right? So they have flexibility, and I think that's ultimately, you know, what you need. And eventually, like, what with, with what the Heat did, right, Our hands were tied for the longest time, right? Because it was like, you have Tyler Hero's contract, you have Bam's contract, right? You got Wiggins, you got all these pieces. And even before that, right, With Jimmy, it's like you felt like you had a contender. But when you have to make a decision when things are just not working out anymore, right? Especially you're just in the play in game every single year. You're an eight seed, you're just fighting for your life every single year. It's just not sustainable, right? And I think that's what finally was the tipping point for the Heat to say, hey, we need to go get Giannis and, yeah, we're gonna give a haul. But guess what? We now have a legitimate contender. And now here, by the way, LeBron's available and you have a chance to go get LeBron as part of this now team that you could try to build right now, right? And I think that's what, that's what you have to be, right? You got to be in this kind of like, win now mode all the time, especially when you have pieces already, right? Yeah.
Max
Bam.
Bobby
Donovan Mitchell, right? Wiggins, you just got Hardway Jr. We got Donovan Mitchell. No, Damien Mitchell, Davian Mitchell, right? Like, you got, you got pieces around that. You actually have a roster that can go and win, right? And then you had a superstar like Giannis. Now, like, the moment's here. Like, the moment's here. So I, I'm, I'm curious. Like, I'm struggling with this LeBron thing because I would love Him, I think he is the perfect fan fit for what we need. We need a guy that can go run the point. Right.
Pooch
I literally put on point guard.
Bobby
Yeah, exactly. That's it.
Alex
Put it on point guard.
Bobby
You know, and.
Dave
And look, he's got to be. He's got to be.
Bobby
Is he going to play 82 games and play a ton of minutes every single game? Absolutely not. Right. So I think you still need somebody that can kind of supplement him, but at the end of the day, you're a 50 plus win team. You know, let's say come playoff time, you have LeBron running the point in the playoffs with Giannis Bam healthy, like, it's going to be a very dangerous situation.
Alex
A lot of experience and a ton of experience.
Pooch
Yeah. And it's a team.
Dave
And making LeBron the facilitator for 81 games allows him to take a back seat and to be ready for the playoffs.
Bobby
Yeah. He doesn't have to be attacking all the same.
Pooch
And same thing on the defensive side, too. Like, now we've got Giannis and. And Bam. Holding it down defensively. It's a defensive duo where LeBron doesn't have to really play.
Bobby
It's also.
Max
Exactly.
Bobby
Stud.
Pooch
Like, he obviously has to play defense, but, like, he doesn't have to do it at the. The capacity that.
Dave
Both hands for 60 minutes.
Pooch
Yeah, exactly, exactly.
Bobby
So I. I just.
Alex
Oh, my bad, Jerry.
Bobby
No. Yeah, just really quick. I just struggle. Like, you talk legacy, Bob.
Max
Right.
Bobby
Is the Heat really the legacy play?
Pooch
No, the legacy plays. The cat.
Bobby
It's got to be Cleveland. Right. So what is the rationale of going to Miami versus Philly?
Max
Right.
Bobby
Or Miami versus Golden State. Right.
Pooch
Well, I. I thought this whole time it was going to be Golden State
Bobby
for a while I did, you know,
Pooch
him playing with Steph Curry, and it felt right. Yeah, it felt like that was going to happen.
Dave
Shortest trip from home. Exactly.
Pooch
Yeah. I'm a bit shocked. And I still don't buy it. The fact that they're fully out of it. I. I don't. I don't buy that for a second.
Dave
Steph's out there. Cruden. Steph's out there still.
Pooch
So, dude, LeBron is a Draymond Green right now in Puerto Rico. Like, they're just hanging out with Draymond.
Bobby
Yeah, I saw that.
Pooch
So, like, I don't think they're fully out of it. I think the Miami play is still. It's still a legacy play for him in the sense of it is the team that made him, you know, champion. It's the team that, you know, like, he can twist it to, like. Like, in Philly.
Alex
I don't.
Pooch
I'm. Same thing. I don't see Philly. I actually think, ironically, I actually think Philly's probably the best shot in terms of the best full team. I think Philly is actually going to be very, very good this year. I just don't see him going to a new team like that, like, outside of the warriors, because of his connection to Steph and the city, whatever. But, like, I just don't see Philly. I would be shocked if it was Philly. Like, I really would.
Alex
Agreed.
Pooch
I really do think it's either us or the Cavs, and I'm still not counting out the Warriors. I. I would be shocked anywhere else.
Dave
But I think Cleveland also is the place that he could go, and either way it goes would be a win or be acceptable because he went home. I think you start your career there, you come back home, you win them a title, and then you come back home to finish it off. I don't think anybody would be like, oh, it was a failure. He came here and didn't even win. It's like, no, he came home to finish his career, and that was the final bow on it. And that is. You could. You could respect that. The Heat, the Giannis attraction. I get that.
Bobby
The.
Dave
You know, his wife loved Miami. Apparently, that was a big thing the first time he came here.
Alex
You could.
Dave
You could see a lot of reasons why he'd want to come to the Heat. My question for you guys, and before I say this, let me just get this off my chest. The player I was trying to name earlier was Jonathan Kaminga. Jonathan.
Pooch
Yes.
Dave
Is. He got. He was getting cut. He was owed, like, $30 million. He was a star for the Warriors. It didn't really work in Atlanta. Now it's like maybe assigning trade to the Lakers. They're trying to figure that out, but it seems like destiny that. That might work out for sure. Anyways, back to LeBron, and what the hell was. Oh, my question for you guys. Do you not feel like my only thing about the Heat sitting here now instead of two weeks ago when you traded for Giannis? I feel like y' all could have done a little more, especially with knowing LeBron's coming, if you could pitch to all these free agents. Look, LeBron's on the way. We need to get these guys in place. Do you not kind of feel like waiting on LeBron has cost you a lot of people?
Bobby
That. That's the thing no, because I don't think much has happened, honestly.
Pooch
Plus, we got Giannis. Like, that is the biggest whale free agency.
Dave
So, like, no, Giannis definitely is, but, like, Simmons was supposed to be a big. Like, get y' all a shooter out there, and he goes, where did he.
Bobby
Where?
Dave
I don't even remember where he went. He might have went to Philly.
Bobby
The thing is, once we got Giannis, we. Our hands were already tight because we really didn't have much money to play around with to begin with. Right. I think Norman Powell was one of those things like, do you try to keep him? Will he be willing to take less to stay? He obviously was like, nah, I'm going to go get paid.
Dave
Right.
Bobby
Yeah.
Dave
That should have been a sign and trade situation for y'.
Pooch
All.
Dave
Yeah. I think just letting him go was tough.
Bobby
Yeah.
Pooch
Yeah.
Bobby
But at the end of the day, it was like, yeah, we got Giannis. And that was going to be what was going to be the. The recruiting angle to just bring in anybody that wants to just be here in Miami and then now go and try to win a ship with Bam. And we're talking a lot about Giannis, by the way, over the course of the last couple years, A lot of people also want to play with Bam.
Max
Yeah.
Bobby
Like, Bam is a huge part, but
Pooch
second best scorer in NBA history.
Bobby
Yeah.
Dave
Well, Bam is your ideal Robin to a Batman. Robin to a Batman.
Pooch
Because if you're a superstar, just like Kobe was. Yeah.
Dave
Anyways, if you're a superstar, you don't want to do all this that Bam does. Bam does all the hard. The rebounding, the defense, the gritty stuff. You can go worry about scoring 35 every night, doing your thing, and Bam's gonna hold it down the other end. I think Bam was the ultimate compliment to any superstar. I really do believe that.
Bobby
Yeah. That Jimmy Bam combo was electric, and there's a reason why we went to two finals with that team. But one thing before we kind of wrap up the LeBron saga that we haven't talked about. LeBron is a golf freak.
Max
Yeah.
Bobby
He loves. Loves golf. And at this point, you're in your career, you're gonna tell me that there's not going to be at least a thought about it in the process.
Pooch
Very good point.
Bobby
So I went to my friend Claude, right. And I asked who has the best golf courses for private high athletes between Miami, Golden State, Philly, and Cleveland? You guys ready for this? Cloud goes Miami wins outright. There you have it.
Pooch
I mean, you know, we're like, we're kind of, like, joke. I actually think that that very much could be a fact.
Dave
I'm not saying rich, no.
Bobby
80 of the decision, but there's maybe a 15 part of the decision.
Dave
How about his agent, Rich Paul, having a podcast and breaking this down step for step?
Pooch
Yeah.
Dave
He literally said we're looking for golf. Like, we're looking. That's part of the pitch. We're looking for good golfing.
Bobby
Lagor's Country Club, I'm sure is calling
Pooch
LeBron James right now. Year round in Cleveland or Philly.
Bobby
Absolutely.
Pooch
Play that here and I guess maybe a little in San Fran, but now it's not like here. It is not like here.
Bobby
Absolutely not.
Pooch
Year round 100. I love that angle.
Bobby
That's the recruiting angle right there, boys.
Pooch
Yeah.
Bobby
Let him know that he could play golf all year long here. He'll have a great time. Lagor's Country Club is waiting to open the door to him, along with a long list of clubs down here. And, you know, you get to play with the best of the best. You want to go play Panther national with jt? He's right there. You got all the PGA guys. You want to get better at golf. They're all down here. So I don't know, it just feels like you could play basketball and play some good golf down here.
Pooch
Yeah, I'm with you.
Dave
And he's been here before. It's not like you really got to tell him. He knows the deal.
Bobby
Miami's. Miami also. Yeah. All right, Well, I guess we shall see. We shall see. We shall see. We are going now to pivot the show a little bit, and we. Because Dave is on the final bell here, but we are going to talk about Mr. Leo Messi.
Pooch
Oh, I've been waiting for this.
Bobby
Leo Messi leads the World cup in goals right now, tied at the top with Mbappe. And they have had two comebacks in the last two games. Yeah, they are on top of the world. Just when you thought they were going to be knocked out, they find a way to win. Messi has a goal and an assist late in that game. Is. Is he or is he not the best player in the World cup right now, Dave?
Pooch
He is absolutely not. It's actually a joke. It is literally like if you would have put. Let's just say. Let's. Let's just say France had that same round. Mbappe might have 32 goals. I mean, it's a joke. It is an absolute joke that these guys. These guys are being. Everything's being handed to him, as it usually is. He's and I'm glad. The one thing that this World cup has done more than bring attention to the sport in America, it has shown the corruption of this sport and shown the corruption obviously really specifically surrounding Lionel Messi. And, you know, Argentina, I mean, the FBI is investigating them now. Like, that is a full.
Bobby
Like a money fraud.
Pooch
That is a real. And where do you think the money's going? Right into Infantino's pockets. It is literally the most absurd thing I've ever seen. That Egypt, that Egypt var. Decision is going to haunt them because it's going to all come crumbling down on top of Argentina. I'm telling you right now, in, in a couple years, there is going to be a documentary of all the corruption around this guy and his freaking team. It is the most insane thing I've ever seen. No, he's not the best player. He's not. He's not even close to the best player. I mean, Mbappe's running laps around him. Harry Kane's running laps around him. Holland's running. Like, these guys are actually doing it against real competition. I mean, these guys, no offense to these other countries. I love Cape Verde, you know, whatever. Let's be real here. I mean, we've got, we've got a absolute gauntlet on the other side of France, Portugal, Spain. Everyone's together. This guy's playing Switzerland in the quarterfinals. No offense to Switzerland. Like, they're not a bad team. So. But it's also like, come on. Like, this is just insane. I will say, I will say. I will say. I, I am very curious because I do have a little bit of faith in the Swiss this weekend. As I mentioned, there is a lot of corruption. Infantino is the most corrupt leader of sports in the history of sports, and he is Swiss. So he's basically, it's. It's his country versus his lover. And, and, and so I'm curious to see who he's going to side with. So I have, I have a little bit of hope. But listen, yes, Messi. My thing with Messi isn't that he isn't a good player. He obviously is a very good player, but that the calls that they get, the decisions made in favor, it is absurd. People, people want to forget. People want to forget that he should have been. Got booted for the first game, he should have been suspended for the second game. He gets not even a yellow card, not even yellow. The England guy who, who's honestly, his, his red card against Mexico was like,
Bobby
not even that bad.
Pooch
He got suspended two games. He's going to even miss the semifinals.
Bobby
That was a pretty bad red card.
Alex
Jude.
Pooch
Jude Bellingham is a yellow card away. I. This is going to be the easy. I'm making my prediction right now. Jude Bellingham is guaranteed to get a yellow card because if he gets a yellow card in this game, he is going to be suspended for the semifinals. If they make it. Oh, it is the easiest imagine. It's crazy how everything lines up. It is.
Bobby
I mean, yesterday in that France game, it was crazy for Argentina refs too.
Pooch
It's the most insane. No other country.
Bobby
That's one, not two. All five of them were from Argentina yesterday.
Pooch
So listen, everything that, everything that he does is going to come with an asterisk. Everything that he's accomplished in his career, asterisks really, since like 2018 and onward. Because people forget like the, the goat debate was really lockstep and sealed after 2016, you know, obviously Ronaldo wins a real tournament, the Euros. And, and he leads Portugal to the first ever trophies. Five, five Champions Leagues in 2017. It was, it was a wrap. Messi loses to Chile. The. I mean this guy can't win anything. And, and then he retires. People forget this. He retires. And then all of a sudden there's this meeting, this infamous, infamous meeting of. Of trying to convince Messi to come back. And what happens after this meeting? GOPA America is. Every four years they made. They had five Copa Americas in 10 years just to get this damn guy a freaking Copa America. And then, and then people forget. Then people forget the World cup that he wins. The most rigged World cup of all time was literally Qatar was investigated with FIFA for how they bribed to get their Qatar to be the host country of the world. It's a full NETFLIX documentary. I highly recommend it. Go watch it. And all of a sudden the bride World cup is the one he was. Get out of town, dude. It is ridiculous. And I'm glad people's eyes are being opened. People's eyes are being open to the corruption.
Alex
Now.
Pooch
I am happy to be in the forefront of this battle and, and yeah, and by the way, investigating. I've got a bunch, I've got a bunch more here because I. I saw Pooch's notes. I've got answers for everything.
Bobby
The irony of all of this, right, is our Cosmo Tires cool cat approved. Dude of the week. Leo Messi, baby. Let's go. Eight goals in the world.
Dave
Look, before anybody replies to David, I do want to say this for the viewers. If you are watching this, understand you are witness in history. We're talking about goats. You're watching one of the greatest haters of this generation. The research and stats that he just brought out, I've never seen. Dude, it's. I hate that dude. I'll come fold his clothes to keep him off my bad list. This dude will freaking ruin my marriage. He'll make my son despise me. My son will tell me he wants to grow and be like David when this guy's done with him. This dude is an animal when it comes to Hayden. Stay out of the way. Thank you.
Pooch
That is the nicest thing anyone's ever said about.
Bobby
Oh, my God. That is true.
Pooch
That is a generational hater. I am, I am a generational hater. It's funny. I love. I'm a generational lover and hater because I will go to. If I love you, I'm going to war for you. If I hate you. Watch the out, baby.
Bobby
I have a question. What? I have a question, Dave. Hey, if, if it took Leo Messi to win the World cup this year for you to go on a weekend trip with Ronaldo, would you take it
Pooch
to go on a weekend trip? Where are we going?
Bobby
Does it matter?
Dave
He don't need a weekend trip with him. He's already sucking him. He's doing that shit long distance.
Pooch
That shit's free, dude. No, I would not sacrifice more corruption in favor of that Argentinian scum. So, no, I would not take that deal. I would have to just stalk him and find him on myself.
Bobby
So fair, fair, fair, fair, fair, fair.
Pooch
Oh, my God.
Dave
Holy hell. That's impressive, man. That's impressive.
Bobby
It'll be interesting. It'll be interesting to happen. See what happens here. Because I do think Norway will take him down so you won't have to worry about it.
Pooch
I just think spell Pooch put the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen in the show notes of my life. It, it, it. Does Messi have the, the most impressive international career? Yeah. That is actually one of the, the, the honesty Pooch. The stupidest thing ever heard of my entire.
Dave
Well, listen, I was going to say
Alex
Max wrote the show notes, dude.
Dave
But listen. Oh, there, Okay. I was about to say Max is gone.
Pooch
Throw Max under Max and he's like, yeah, that was Max.
Dave
He heard when I seen the show notes.
Alex
I'm not scared of you.
Dave
Yes, exactly. When I seen show Notes, I thought this was going to be a David versus Pooch like segment. Like, I truly after reading, I was like, oh, here we go.
Pooch
I, I, I Ended him. And it was Hondo and three. Dude, it didn't even make it a four. Listen, listen, the reason why this is. This is the most absurd comment. I. I'll keep this part brief.
Max
Brief.
Pooch
I mean, and I'm not even going to include Ronaldo because by the way, Ronaldo, more impressive international resume, in my opinion, first off, holds every. I said I'm not gonna make it about. Let me make it real quick. He holds basically every single international record. He has the same amount of international trophies. The Euros is better than pretty much everything he's ever won. It is, you know, better. The World Cup. Listen, he doesn't have a World Cup. I get it. His. You know, if he was born 100 miles to the east, he'd have four. You know what I mean? Like the luck of the draw. But let's not even consider Ronaldo here. I mean, Pele has three World Cups. Maradona honestly has a better claim to being a more Argentinian legend than Messi does. Because, you know, Messi, again, it took him 30 years and, and some money to win. I mean, it's insane. And, and yeah, honestly, even the fake Ronaldo, the fat one, has two. The one.
Alex
That guy's pretty good.
Pooch
No, no, he's. He is very good. He's very good. He's got two World Cups and two Gopas. Who has the most.
Bobby
But who has the most goals in World cup history?
Alex
Yikes.
Pooch
Mbappe is going to clear. I'm saying today, today, not even gonna. His. He's the.
Bobby
I know Mbappe will.
Pooch
Messi's. Messi's reign as. As World cup goal leader is the meme from the Simpsons. The old man walking in, grabbing his hat, putting his hat down. And by the way, Mbappe still has like four more World Cups to go and he is going to absolutely demolish that record.
Bobby
So then at the end of all of this, does Mbappe become the goat
Pooch
he's gonna have a better claim to than Messi? Listen, here's the thing. And Bape is the goat of the World Cup. It's every. Everyone, you know the stages, right? And Bape is the goat of the World Cup. Ronaldo's the goat of the Champions League. Messi, I guess is the goat of whatever MLS cup trophy they have, because, I mean, who the cares about that?
Alex
Yeah.
Pooch
And listen, this is where I will end it. My quick rant here is going to be.
Alex
Quick rant quick.
Pooch
Argentina before Messi had 22 trophies. Messi in his 20 year career has three. And again, it's taken the last five years of his life with the amount of money they. They have funneled to make that happen. Portugal before Ronaldo. Zero trophies, zero relevance. No one even knew Portugal was a country. And now, you know, three trophies later, absolute superpower. And it's all in the backs of Cristiano Ronaldo. And that is my mic. My mic drop, folks. Poochie, change the damn. Dude of the week. Oh, man, that was. Oh, that was great, actually, my mic drop moment, because I do gotta go, but that was gas.
Bobby
Well, that's a great way for. For Dave to end it.
Pooch
See everybody next week.
Dave
Holy hell, man.
Alex
History.
Dave
That's great. That's greatness right there, boys.
Bobby
That was. That was phenomenal. That was phenomenal. That was phenomenal.
Dave
Oh, my God. Legacy hater, bro.
Alex
Holy.
Bobby
Oh, no. Oh, my God. We're gonna get flagged for violence. We're gonna get flags for violence on the show. Well, yeah. There you have it, ladies and gentlemen. Dave left you with a lot of things to think about around Messi and everything Argentina. But we're gonna wrap this one up with, you know, a little bit of a post July 4th kind of debate here. How many dogs do you think you can eat in one sitting, Bobby? Because we've seen Joey Chestnut just dominate the hot dog eating contest. Do you think you have even a fighting chance of even now? Obviously not getting close, but putting anywhere of a number down?
Dave
I have often wanted to test this theory, but I've never been in the situation where there was 100 dogs in front of me to try, so luckily for me, I have never tried. No, dude, you can't. Dude, These guys are incredible athletes. Like, dude, this. It's insane. By the way, did you see the one dude throwing up the lemonade?
Bobby
Yes, the lemonade, bro. That was this, bro.
Dave
That would have been me. After eating, like, 13.
Bobby
How do you not move? Like, just, like, at least turn around. He's just there standing, like. And didn't even think, like, you know what? I'm throwing up in front of a bunch of people. Let me just, like, at least turn around and, like, make an attempt to not vomiting.
Dave
Let's be honest, though. At that point, he was in such a bond, there was nothing to think about. His body was locked up. Dude. Insane work. With that being said, awesome content idea. Yeah, we should do a hot dog eating competition.
Bobby
I. I did a. I did a croqueta eating contest about a couple months ago, and I. I'm thinking. I'm thinking I'm gonna chow these things down. Bro, bro, these were, these, they were basically the size of a freaking hot dog.
Alex
The real deal.
Bobby
Yeah, dude. I'm like, dude, I'm gonna eat four of these in, in a minute maybe. I think I ate, I think I ate four, actually. I think four was the number I got to, which put me in second place. Six was. Or five was the winning number. So it was a valiant effort. But you see what Joey Chestnut does and he's what, downing 70 in a minute hot dogs, some. Something crazy like that. It's absurd. I. I generally don't know how someone can fit that much hot dog in that amount of time. Like maybe an hour.
Dave
We haven't seen someone put down. We haven't seen someone put down glizzies like that since David just gobbled up Ronald.
Bobby
I mean, the, the conversation has to be had as far as like greatest athletes ever, right? I mean, he's got to be in that conversation. When you talk about level of dominance from, from someone and they're respected.
Alex
He's lost like one.
Bobby
If you want to call it a sport. A sport, but in their respected craft, right? I mean, he's got to be one of the goat, one of the goats and the pillars of like just being that dominant at what you do. I don't know anyone that's as, as dominant as something as like, that's what you do, right? I mean, I, I don't know. Has he even lost? You said he lost.
Alex
I think he lost like once in the last.
Bobby
Like he must have been six, 15 years.
Dave
Like, what was he?
Bobby
Who beat him?
Dave
I'm looking it up. What was. If you're old like me, there was a, A Chinese or Japanese. I don't want to offend anybody. Yes, that guy. That's why Joe checks out so impressive to me. Because before him, I'm trying to figure it out. I couldn't figure. I can't find his damn name anywhere that long. Chestnut's been dominating.
Alex
C was like, I don't know.
Dave
No, it wasn't that.
Bobby
Hold on, let me see if my phone wants to work.
Alex
I mean, do you put him like in the Michael Phelps conversation for like most dominant athletes in their sport? Cuz Michael Phelps dominated swimming.
Bobby
Yeah, I mean, I guess you have to. The first conversation has to become, is hot dog eating contest a sport?
Alex
Kobashi die. I mean.
Bobby
Yeah. What was his name?
Dave
Kobashi was the man before Joey Chestnut. The little dude. Little dude going crazy and dude, Joey Chestnut came in and said, hold my beer.
Bobby
But how many, how many, how many hot Dogs. Did he do, like, what was his most ever? 66 hot dogs in 10 minutes. Yeah.
Max
Yeah. That's crazy.
Dave
And they actually have a Netflix, I think was.
Bobby
Yes.
Dave
Kobayashi versus Chestnut. They re went after it like two, three years ago. And Chestnut won again.
Bobby
Yeah. So. So the official record is chestnut at 76.
Alex
In 10 minutes.
Bobby
In 10 minutes, bro.
Alex
Go on it.
Bobby
That's the thing.
Alex
Like 10 minutes. Like, how are you not like, choking, dying, or are they just. They just don't choke. Like, it's insane.
Dave
I don't know what they do. No one could. I couldn't do that probably in a day. That's what's so impressive about it. If you gave 100 hot dogs and let me sit in that studio all day long, I don't think I could eat that many.
Bobby
But that's the whole thing. It has to be done in such a rapid amount of time because you don't have.
Dave
So your body doesn't catch up.
Bobby
Exactly. Exactly.
Dave
Okay. Yeah, that makes sense, actually, because he's probably just.
Bobby
I mean, I'm assuming he's just throwing that up immediately.
Dave
I've always wondered if they walk off stage and go behind the stage and like, all throw up or like, how the. Does that work?
Alex
Definitely not. Digesting all that.
Bobby
No, absolutely not. Your body.
Dave
Can't you imagine? Could you imagine the you take when you get back to your hotel room?
Alex
Chunky hot dogs.
Bobby
That's terrible, bro.
Dave
Mother of God.
Bobby
Oh, my God.
Alex
There has to be a conversation about him. Obviously it's competitive eating, but, like, it's a sport, man. These guys train. Apparently. They're eating. They're eating a whole, like, I guess like a stalk of lettuce just like open up their stomach and they're expanding their stomach and they train their stomach to, like, how this expanded size. Like they're like, physically changing themselves for this. Like the same way you get jacked to play whatever sport. They're training their stomachs to hold all this down. Like it is. It is impressive. 76 hot dog. You know what? 76.
Dave
That's insane work.
Alex
They would space. How much take up. Like, it's probably just coming out of his esophagus at some point.
Bobby
Joe. Joe's saying that the over under for the boys would be eight and a half.
Dave
We gotta. We gotta run it.
Bobby
We're gonna have to.
Dave
We're gonna have to. When we come down there for the beginning of the year. Let's just go ahead and put that on the book. One of the. One of the days we're Gonna take a day and just destroy hot dogs.
Alex
And Nathan's, I assume just straight.
Dave
They got. That's what I was gonna say. They got the good dogs, too. Nathan's ain't no joke. All right.
Alex
Like apple sausage. We're just going plain Jane.
Bobby
No, you got to go plain Jane.
Dave
You have to playing Jane, dude.
Bobby
I mean, I did do the nine dog, nine beer challenge at the Marlins park last year, and I did. I almost got it. Honestly, if they made it to the bottom of the inning, it's just the Marlins are so good that they just win games at the top of the ninth last year. Yeah. They were good last year, too, though. They were good last year, too.
Dave
I could. I consider myself a pretty good eater, you know, obviously. But I. I would. I would love to see myself in that kind of setting and just to see how not good of a eater I am.
Bobby
Do you think you could do the nine dog, nine beer?
Dave
I don't know. You know, the non beers does make it in there. I know I could do probably not dogs pretty relatively easy.
Bobby
It's the beers at the end, bro.
Dave
Right? Yes, baby.
Bobby
Yeah, bro. I mean, the last one that I was trying to down at the end, like, literally just trying to force it down, that was just like, literally sitting right here. It's rough.
Alex
It was crazy because, like, right when he was trying to finish the last beer because he finished the dogs. He finished the beer, and the Marlins won. And we're all standing up, cheering. I looked.
Bobby
A little butcher came out of my mouth right into. Right into the little tray that I had for my husband.
Dave
Apparently, Wingo didn't have time to get on the show, but he's got time to chirp me in the group chat while watching the show. Mind your business, son, and go do your job. You need the day off. Be off, son.
Alex
Oh, Bobby. Just say he's a real leader.
Bobby
Oh, okay.
Dave
You don't have to repeat it. First of all, no balls. That's allowed. We're talking about hot dog game competitions. I said the. I want to. Okay.
Alex
It's in the context. It's the context of it.
Dave
Oh, bud.
Bobby
All right, well, that about does it for today, ladies and gentlemen. Thank you so much as always for tuning in. Great, great convo today. What's the game today? It's Spain. Spain's playing Spain.
Alex
Belgium.
Bobby
Spain. Belgium.
Max
Spain.
Bobby
Belgium's the game today.
Max
Let me.
Bobby
Let me confirm that. Let me confirm my sources here. Let me see here. Let's go here. Woke up. Yep. Spain, Belgium, 3 o'. Clock. So we shall have some good soccer and we will have a. We'll have basically a finals preview next Friday by the time we record next week, because the finals will be next weekend. So we'll have a nice finals preview next weekend. We'll see if LeBron makes a decision by then. And, yeah, we'll see what other news brings.
Dave
Hey, Connor. Connor's back in the ring this weekend.
Bobby
You like. You like Conor taking it this weekend, Bobby?
Dave
I don't know. That's what's so interesting. He's been gone so long. I don't know what the.
Bobby
Yeah, it's incredible.
Dave
I can tell you that much already.
Alex
Oh, I mean, Max is coming off a loss, right? His last fight, he lost because he fought superior. Yeah.
Dave
But Max has been taking hits, and Max gives hits. The. The. When you. Look, the biggest thing about fighting is you fall out of rhythm of getting hit in the face. It's not like something you do every day. Yeah, I really am interested to see how he takes a hit now. Connor can take a hit, but Max can deliver and take hits. So I. I'm interested to see. I mean, Max had Poirier's last fight. Like, Max has been going out against some of the best, and, dude, Connor is one of the best and he's super entertaining. But he's been out of the game for how many years now? It's been a minute. I feel like we're. I feel like it's longer than we.
Alex
It's been like, four comebacks announced, and, like, this is the first one that's actually gone through.
Bobby
When's the last?
Dave
I feel like we're. It might be supposed to fight Michael
Alex
Chandler and he backed out of it. And they're supposed to fight somebody else. He backed out of it. I think Connor was a loss.
Dave
2021 when he broke his ankle, right?
Alex
Yeah.
Bobby
Where he lost porier. Yeah.
Dave
Yeah.
Bobby
TKO.
Dave
2021. Yeah, exactly. Five years without fighting.
Bobby
That's absurd.
Dave
He's been through so much, then off out of the ring when he freaking juiced up and got huge. I think he did a movie in that period. Roadhouse 2.
Alex
Yeah.
Bobby
He launched a cigar, too. And then he.
Dave
Dude, lingo's going hard in the group. I'm in your mom's DMs.
Bobby
Oh, damn. This guy. This guy.
Dave
Look, say what you want about Connor out of the ring, but when it comes to entertainment and being a showman, I don't think we've ever seen anybody better.
Bobby
My wife for the ufc.
Dave
My wife hates it when I start gassing up Connor. But look, people do things in their life and that's all needs to be its own thing. But the entertainer wise Connor is juggernaut. Entertainer. I mean, dude, last night alone, ripping the glasses off
Alex
entertainer. And he backed it up. That's why everyone loved him.
Dave
Yeah, no, for sure.
Alex
Belts at a time like, he might not be the best fighter at all time, but he's definitely the guy that put the UFC on the map and
Bobby
made Dana a ton of money that he definitely.
Dave
Dude, they'll never be anything better than who the is that guy.
Alex
I want to apologize. It's absolutely nobody, man. He's iconic. He's iconic. Hell yeah.
Bobby
That's hype. That's hype. All right, guys, well, happy Friday. I hope everybody enjoys their weekend. Go watch some soccer, Go watch some ufc. Go watch some baseball. Going into the All Star break next week as well. So a little. A little break for the boys in the mlb. And yeah, as always, thank you all for tuning in, and we'll see you all next week. It's time.
Alex
And on that cue,
"USA EMBARRASSED, LeBron’s Next Move & Messi Ends the GOAT Debate?"

Just as advertised: rapid-fire, sharp-tongued, brash but always knowledgeable, and steeped in Miami sports culture. The ribbing is relentless (especially when it comes to soccer and the Messi debate), but the hosts also deliver sharp, insightful analysis—whether discussing a World Cup tactical failure, the economics of NBA free agency, or the quirks of American youth sports culture. The humor is a major part of the draw, with plenty of inside jokes and running gags, but the sports commentary is robust and current. Perfect for die-hard fans and those down for the vibe.
