Host 1
Gentlemen. Welcome back. Welcome back to another episode. Guys being dudes here live on a Friday. Nothing better. Let's go. Wingo way. We're here, we're here. Still celebrating the US Men's and women's gold wins. The boys really popped off this, this, this week, really. I think they're still going. You're seeing still celebrations happening throughout essentially the NHL. Wingo, I know you were there at the game last night. Talk a little bit. I'm gonna kick it to you first. Talk a little bit about that intro. Chucky Auston Matthews. America, baby.
Wingo
So I'll start it off by saying this, you know, Wednesday, I'm sitting on my couch having my lunch and, you know, I'm looking online and I see the elbow room. Live camera. Kachuk is just sitting outside having a beer with his gold medal. And I'm like, I grabbed my USA jersey. I almost thought about going down there, but I didn't. But yeah, had the opportunity to go to the game last night. Obviously, you know, big time win. They did the whole little ceremony before. You know, Chuck was able to run around with the, with the USA flag. The crowd got after it, you know, big time win. Still in the hunt for the playoff playoffs. But man, it was crazy to see the amount of panthers that were just involved in Olympics as a whole. And I just think it was electric. And I think these guys are still going to be celebrating it for a long, long time.
Host 1
Did I. I think I saw a clip. I think it was. I think it was Jack Hughes that. That he. He looked clearly hungover. Still, rightfully so. He deserved it. He deserved hungover for what he did. But, yeah, man, what. I mean, this week has just been kind of a whirlwind. It's been, you know, seeing the amount of people talking about hockey has been awesome and obviously, like, doing it against Canada. We talked about it last week, like, we wanted Canada and. And the way that everything turned out. Overtime winner Hallibuck standing on his damn head all game. Like, it was for me, the perfect. The per. It couldn't have gone any better, to be honest. So, Bobby, what were your thoughts on. On that game?
Bobby
Yeah, I mean, I think the game lived up to the hype. Right? Like, I think it was incredible. I did get nervous. I'm not gonna lie. We came out hot.
Host 1
Oh, yeah.
Bobby
Honestly, we had. We dodged a lot of bullets in the second and third. Obviously, the goalie coming through time and time again. But, I mean, it felt like Canada there at the end. And I really thought, like, I was like, man, this is. This is feeling like heartbreak again. And then in the overtime, we just stepped up and we had more energy and we handled business. And I think kind of like Wingo was saying, these boys are. I think hockey players are like, the most relatable athletes.
Host 1
100%.
Bobby
They don't even know they're famous. Like, they're just like, the coolest people. They just like. Like he said, having a beer with your gold medal on four days later, like, you're just like, I don't even know what I'm doing here. But I think hockey. Hockey players got to be the most relatable athletes in the world.
Wingo
Those guys really just enjoy. I mean, I. My last place I lived at was right on Los Alas. And you would see guys like kad, Chuck or. Or Bark off or Lundell just walking around and nothing but. But flip flops and oversized T shirt and some khakis, having a beer, hanging out on a. Maybe a Tuesday afternoon, and you're just looking at these guys like, you got a game tonight? What are you doing? They go out there and just play exceptional. So they're definitely guys that are just, you know, top the athlete caliber and just regular dudes.
Host 1
Dude, that's actually a great conversation point. Right? Like, are hockey players the most dude of all the sports players. Because like, like, like you said, like they're just hanging. I mean they're, they're drinking. Chucky's at Elbow Room at a bar the day before. He's playing the next day. Like, like they're just vibing out, still celebrating. And I think there has to be something said about 11Now being the number one place to celebrate any sort of championship. Right? The Cats. The Cats did it back to back years. Yeah, there it is. And then now Chuck, he had to bring the. All the USA boys there.
Wingo
Dude, you gotta imagine that too. Chuck. Chuck was probably like, I know a spot.
Host 1
Exactly. Yeah.
Pooch
It's kind of crazy how Chucky has become like not like one the Miami South Florida representative for all of hockey, but he's like the guy you want. If you win a championship, he's gonna take you to like the best spots. He's gonna give you the true champion experience. Like the guy has done it twice with the Panthers. Now you get to do it for Team usa. Like if you're in Miami, you're a hockey guy. You want to find Chucky and be like, yo, what I gotta do? And he's gonna like feel like he's going to set it up for you.
Host 1
No, 100%. And I think Chucky is one of those guys that like, obviously every sport is looking for their stars. Right? Like you need a lot of these leagues. You know, obviously basketball you can point to specifically. They're very stars based. Hockey normally isn't that. But I think guys like Chucky are, are just. I mean they make so much noise in terms of these celebrations and, and the way that they go. Obviously he's got his podcast with his brother now. Like they're trying to grow the game while simultaneously having an absolute good time. Dude, these guys, I mean, man, like the, the, some of the videos from 11. I love that they were all there and I think they were playing the same four songs just on repeat over
Wingo
and over and over.
Host 1
Yeah, exactly, bro. They had, they had the whole place doing the national anthem, man. We had strippers doing the national anthem. I mean, come on, Jesse.
Pooch
Hey, it was such a American moment.
Wingo
Got to give Pat McBee a shout out too, right? Cover bar tab.
Gravis Vasquez
How about that?
Wingo
I saw something on Tik Tok it was talking about, you know, they were. Another girl was asking, you know, the workers, they were like, did you guys had to have gotten tipped well, right? A bunch of dudes just sitting there having a good time, having beers. And that is probably if you have a girlfriend or Wife. The only time they're gonna let you go to go to 11 by themselves.
Host 1
100%.
Bobby
I think to go back on what David said, too, is, like, this only happens for, like, hockey. Like, could you imagine LeBron trying to go have a beer at Elbow Room after a national championship or, like a finals championship? Like, it doesn't work like that. So, like, hockey, like, just normal dudes doing God stuff and, like, so approachable and stuff like that. So really cool.
Host 1
Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, the last thing I wanted to touch on in terms of, like, this topic specifically, right. As I mentioned, everybody's talking about this game. Everyone's talking about the USA hockey team, both men and women's. Right. This has been a huge conversation just in general. And. And it's. It's in. It's in the zeitgeist. Right? Like, how big of a moment was this just for the sport of hockey in terms of recognition and. And really appreciation for, like, again, we talked about it last week. Like, the hockey players as a whole are an undergraded group of. Of athletes. Right. Like, not like, you know, everyone talk about, like, football, basketball, whatever, dude. I think. Hot. This, I think, is a huge step forward for. For recognition and appreciation for. For hockey players and how amazing the sport is. Right. We're hockey guys. I know, like, Wingo was at the game last night. Like, going to hockey games is one of the coolest experience ever. And I'm hoping that this is kind of a step forward in growing that game because everyone's. If you haven't been to a hockey game, go to a hockey game tomorrow if you can. In my opinion, probably my favorite. I mean, I'm a football guy through and through, but, like, going to a hockey game is right up there in terms of just experience.
Gravis Vasquez
Yeah.
Wingo
And the US now has a pathway for hockey players actually to train them and do certain things, kind of like what they do over in Canada. Obviously in Canada, that is their football, right?
Host 1
Yeah.
Wingo
They grow up doing that. But the USA has started to change the narrative on hockey, and I think that's just been the difference. Right. We had those young guys out there, a young team, and people don't realize the caliber of what that game meant. Right. 1980 was the last time that that was won, and now today. And it's crazy to just think about it, the history that was made, and now this is going to be a continued, just rivalry with Canada, which is what we say, Right. Because Canada may not look at us like that, but we definitely look at them like. Like that Against Canada. And it was hilarious in the Panthers game last night being able to play a Canadian team. Everyone's looking at each other when, oh, Canada plays first before the national anthem. Everyone's looking around like, you know, what are we doing here? But, you know, it's definitely a great rivalry. I think it will continue on for a long time.
Host 1
Yeah, no, I, I, I'm with you. And, and also, like, I mean, we walked into their trap and took their sport. All right. It's now America's sport. All right. This is Canada. This ain't your sport anymore. Both the men and women took it from you. I love it. I love it. Bobby, any, Any final thoughts on what? Is there, Is there any, any, any
Gravis Vasquez
hockeys are around you, Bobby?
Bobby
No, not directly. I guess Texas is probably the closest.
Host 1
Yeah, we gotta get. But we gotta get Bobby down here to a Cats game. And then, and then we'll, we'll give you the whole experience. We'll take you to elbow room, and then we'll go to 11, so. Only if we win. Pooch.
Wingo
Anything from you?
Gravis Vasquez
Last thing.
Pooch
Hockey, man. I don't know. I think there's a level of, like, us being the last two champions, like the NHL championships running through South Florida. Obviously a big city.
Host 1
Oh, yeah.
Pooch
A lot of news coverage, a lot of faces, a lot of eyes down here. And I think that might have had. I wouldn't say it's the biggest reason the sport has grown, but I think when you see a major city, and obviously Miami and South Florida in general is one of those places that if you build it, they will come. If you win, they will come. And I just think the amount of

eye you've made it on time for the McDonald's breakfast menu, you think to yourself, finally, I could start my day with my perfect breakfast. But what if breakfast could be even more perfect with the hot honey sausage egg biscuit? It finally is. This won't last forever, so go to McDonald's and get it while you can. Ba da ba ba ba.

Pooch
15 balls have come through Florida through the Panthers the last two years has obviously just, you know, garnered a lot of media attention. I think. You know, I wouldn't say we're directly involved with the growth of the game, but I think we're a big part of it just because we have put so many eyeballs in the sport and we actually gave a platform people to watch and experience the sport. And like, I think once you watch it, you actually, like put yourself in a game. You see the rush of it.
Host 1
Yeah.
Pooch
You see how exciting it is. So the fact that we got so many eyeballs on the sport, I think is a big reason why we've seen the growth in, you know, in the last couple of years.
Host 1
Well, one of the things actually I want to, I want to touch on that you said. Because obviously, right. Hockey's running through South Florida. Matthew Tkachuk is. Won two Stanley Cups in a row. Now a gold medal. But he is also. Specifically. Or not specifically, but. But Connor McDavid, he's. Chucky must live in that dude's nightmares. I mean, Connor McDavid is widely known as the best hockey player in the world. He is disgusting. If you've watched him play at any point, you know how good he is, but he just can't get over the hump. And it just adds such a level of fun that it's just, it's obviously a team sport, but this one guy is on the same damn team that keeps beating him. It's like a little pest, a little pest in his side. And that is Matthew Gachuk. So I love it. And Conor McDavid, I think it's just, you're just gonna feel bad for him.
Wingo
I just, I just feel terribly bad for him. Not only just, you know, obviously back to back Stanley Cups and now, you know, the gold medal medal. It's just like, I don't even want to be in Canada anymore. If I was here, I'm like, exactly. Let's just, let's go play for a United States States team. Let's, let's go just trick. Because at this point, obviously when you look at the top or hockey players, right? Connor McDavid, we went to that three on three. You're like, oh, crap, Connor McDavid. And where's his medal? He doesn't have Stanley Cup.
Host 1
He's not.
Wingo
So I don't know when you, when you end up looking at rankings of, you know, all time NHL hockey players, can there be a Conor McDavid without a cup, without gold medals?
Gravis Vasquez
I don't know.
Host 1
Yeah, I'm with You listen, as of right now, I. I hate to do this to you, McDavid, but Josh Allen, well, he's up there. By the way, if I was going to rank, I'm gonna. If I'm doing a Mount Rushmore and this is going to sound really mean, but, you know, I gotta do what I gotta do. Mount Rushmore, the biggest losers right now. I mean, it's McDavid, it's Josh Allen. To outside this thing, I gotta think of who's an NBA player that hasn't won a ring, like Devin Booker.
Bobby
Paul.
Host 1
Chris. Paul. Chris.
Wingo
Paul.
Host 1
Great. Paul.
Pooch
Dwight.
Bobby
Howard.
Host 1
No, Dwight.
Gravis Vasquez
1.
Host 1
Dwight won with the Lakers.
Bobby
That's right. He's probably got him one.
Host 1
Yeah. So it's McDave and baseball, I guess Aaron Judge being the best, one of the best players and has a one. I guess, like that's. It's obviously a list you don't want to be on, but unfortunately, Stefan Diggs, he stepped. He steps off that until he. He wins something. He's unfortunately going to be on the Mount Rushmore.
Pooch
And I don't think it's because of a lack of talent either.
Gravis Vasquez
Like, he's incredible.
Pooch
Round three.
Bobby
Incredible.
Pooch
David McKinnon.
Host 1
Yeah.
Pooch
Like, you're talking about three of the top players in NHL and you couldn't pull it off. Even in Edmonton, you have your. You're skating next to Leon dry style, who's another one of the best players in hockey. And like, so it's not. He's out there doing by himself and he's carrying around, you know, the load. Like he has a guy that's matching him, you know, point by point, you know, go by goal right next to him and he still can't win. So I think that's a conversation too. Like, you can't win without that, but you can't win with it either. So, like, what are you. You're just nothing.
Bobby
You do start feeling bad for him, though, because like, the reporter was asking him, like, the trophy has followed all these other superstars, specifically Canada superstars, like, you know, Crosby and Gretzky and all this stuff. And it's like, at what point do you start looking like, what the hell is going on? And he was like, I appreciate the question, thanks, and kind of just ignored the guy. And it's like, it's tough, but it's like, dude, you're the top of the top dude. It's got to be asked.
Host 1
Yeah, no, I mean, what a. That was a crate. Like, what a question. Like, I, I can't even imagine Being him, like, obviously, again, he just. They just lost. And, like, that's one of the questions you're getting. Like. Like, yeah, man, you just keep losing, dude. Like, what are you gonna do? And it's like.
Pooch
Because it's not just, like, his performance, because he's good throughout the tournament. Comes time. When it comes time, he never is there. And it happened with the Panthers, too. The last game, the elimination game, he was just disappeared. So it's like, you're great for the regular season. Yeah, you're awesome for regular season numbers. I mean, you're essentially the Philip Rivers.
Host 1
Oh, man, we're just slandering him now.
Pooch
No, no, that's essentially what you are. You just put up numbers for the regular season, but you can never, you know, win.
Bobby
Like, dude, let's talk about this, too. Like, how tough is it to, like, lose the gold medal? And then you got to stand there, watch them get the gold, but then you get hand a stuffed animal. Like, what the hell is that?
Wingo
I. I don't know what that. I think it was. Had something to do with a charity or something. It was.
Pooch
I think that's like the mascot of
Wingo
the Olympics or the mascot of the Olympics. You saw Marcy was like, oh, which. Which one are you going to get? Oh, I hope it's the giraffe. Like, what? I. I don't know. It's just one of them. They actually handed the stuffed animal out before. Before the metal, and it was just like, oh, what do we do?
Host 1
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Bobby
This is a tough watch. It was a tough watch.
Host 1
That's tough. Oh, man. All right, well, listen, USA Hockey, that was an incredible, incredible moment. They delivered us. So, yeah, we're gonna keep celebrating that. And hopefully, you know, the Panthers, that was a huge win for them yesterday. Let's. We. We need them to go on a run if they want to try to three peat here, so let's see if they can do it. But. All right. Yeah. All right. Another big thing this week. The NFL combine has officially, officially started. Bobby, I want. I want to kick it to you first, because you've been going on Twitter, right? You've been going big on a specific player, and I want you to give a little highlight on his performance and talk a little bit about some of the opening days of the combine.
Bobby
Yeah, well, first thing I want to say is we got a little breaking news, and this is really. This is really cool for Wingo because he's an agent, of course. We finally got the NFL informed teams today. The salary cap will be 301.2 million. 22 million up from last year.
Host 1
Wow.
Bobby
So that's huge. Obviously help a lot of teams like the Dolphins. Obviously it helps everyone. So it's not like it doesn't really change much because Everybody got extra 22 million. But for a team that only has 3 million in cap room, you now have 25 million in cap room. So that really helps us specifically. But yeah, let's talk about the combine. Unless y' all got something on that.
Wingo
No, I, I just think. I think that's huge. Obviously, with contract negotiations, teams that are battling with. With cap space, obviously, you know, making restructured negotiations in your contract, it's going to open up a lot of doors and windows just having that extra money to be able to be allocated to whether or not it's trading for guys, it's extending contracts, it's spreading out contracts throughout multiple years. So it's definitely going to be a benefit to a lot of teams and the agents, obviously.
Host 1
Yeah. Look at that little smile. We go with a little smile there. I love it.
Bobby
Yeah. And I think that's the better way to think of it. It's not so much that now you can go out and make splash signings or like you're the top of the list, but it does help you do that. You know, the, the hard stuff, like fill out a 53 man roster and it gives you a little more room to do those things you need to do. But yeah, that's. That's a win for everyone, I think.
Host 1
For sure. For sure.
Bobby
All right, Combine. Okay, clear. Like, we can start at one place. Obviously, Sony Styles, like, what the hell was that? Sony Styles went from like top 15 to like, dude, I don't know, man. You gotta consider this kid at number two, like, he's. His hype train right now is incredible. Like, he's six'4,245 run a four, four jumps, 44 inches. We'll find out today what he does on the bench. But, like, incredible day for Sony Styles.
Wingo
Yeah. And I'll just tell you this. Obviously, you know, people didn't do their research on Sony Styles. Look where he came from, right. Ohio State. And you know, it's funny because look at his strength coach, coach Mick, obviously, a lot of people obviously don't know who he is. The guys that he's had the opportunity to train and what they do over there is unlike any other. And when you look at it, he was under Urban Meyer's original staff at the University of Florida, building all those dogs. And on that Amazing run that they had. They run their program differently over there. So I don't think there was any reason for Sonny Styles coming into this NFL draft not doing what he was supposed to do and what did do. So I think he's someone obviously that's going to go, you know, top five and you know, be a caliber player who is very versatile, who can play on the edge, he can drop back into coverage, he can do those certain things off the ball. So he's going to be somebody that's going to be very, very beneficial to a lot of teams and, and be able to give looks at those four. There's four down fronts, those three down fronts and then just can play a little bit of, you know, that long term defense when it gets to third and long. So he's somebody that definitely showed out. Definitely rising his stock, but I think was absolutely expected.
Pooch
Yeah, as long as he doesn't face Mark Fletcher because he didn't tackle him for a
Bobby
pooch.
Host 1
Do your little horn thing or is it Bobby?
Gravis Vasquez
Yeah, there you go. There you go.
Pooch
We can't double up on the horn.
Host 1
I love it. Well, listen, I mean obviously that's, he's somebody who had an incredible day, but there was a big story that came out or big. Right. Like in the sense of, you know, a local kid is getting a little, a little dogged for his arm size. All right. Reuben Bane is, is projected to be one of the top guys in this guy class. Wingo to you is, is arm size is like. I know these stories tend to come out of the combine every.
Bobby
Does eyes matter?
Host 1
Yeah, exactly, exactly.
Wingo
But it's, it's funny that, that people are saying this now and I think it's a whole load of crap. You know, turn on the tape. You know, can this guy play ball? They played high caliber teams. He was battle tested. Can he play physical football? Is he a smart athlete, knows what he's doing. He can he point out and draw up what all 22 guys are doing on the field. He's a guy that can play football at the end of the night, at the end of the day and you look at guys you compare to guys like Von Miller, right. He's a little bit. Not on that six, five to you know, six six size, that's 280. He's someone that's a little bit stockier and that just that same type of build, you know. Ruben Bane is physical. He knows what he's doing. Look at his coach in college football, Jason Taylor, hall of Famer guys who knows what he's doing and was teaching him through the ropes. So, you know, it's crazy to think that people are even bringing this up into topic, and that's why we talked about last week, is the combine is almost overrated. You know, you look at all these stats and all these numbers and statistics, and it's just things to get buzz. Right? It's things to get the fans interacted with it. It's all these different things to just excite people for when the draft comes later on, on April 23rd. But when you look at a guy like Reuben Bane, he can play ball. At the end of the day, he's physical, he knows what he's doing, and he's still going to be a top draft draft pick and I think play in the NFL for a very long time.
Bobby
Yeah, I don't think he deserves criticism, but I told people. I told people a month or two ago that, like, you know, Ruben Bane could be there at 11. Like, he could fall out. Not because I want him to or think he should, but, like, every year we see this, a guy has short arms, he falls. It just. It just happens every year. So I think he's an awesome player. He showed up in the big moments. Like I said, he never fell off. It didn't matter who you put in front of him. Reuben Bang can play football, no doubt about it. But every year we see this, somebody has a weird measurement or intangible about them, and people just get weird. And he's not falling.
Wingo
I mean, look at his. Look at his haircut. He didn't even get a lineup before the NFL. This guy, I think he said it, too. He is all about ball. This guy's gonna make go top five in the draft, and he's gonna play in the NFL for a long time because he's too physical. He knows what he's doing. He's a smart player. I'm sure that he interviewed very well with all of his teams that he took. And, you know, just looking at his inner circle that he has in the group of people that he has around him, he's going to be very, very successful.
Host 1
Yeah, I mean, for me, it's like I'm. I'm. I'm gonna start really pushing the, The. The. The arms narrative so that he does fall to 11. So we're at. On this podcast, this show, we are T. Rex arms. All right? This is. We are pushing this narrative to get him to fall to 11. That's all I'll say. But I. I agree with you guys. I Mean, he is. If you watch the tape, the dude's a monster. So. So yeah, in terms of like, obviously there's a. There's a bunch of different events and, you know, combine events that happening. If you guys, if there was an event that you guys think that you would be do best at right now, what would it be?
Wingo
5, 10, 5.
Host 1
Yeah, we go.
Gravis Vasquez
You might be good at all.
Wingo
Obviously, I, I tested really well and all those things, but I think the 5, 10, 5 was something that I was always really talented at. You know, I was. Obviously I'm quick in the short range aspect, but just it's all about steps and technique. I mean, you can have a guy that can be super fast and super quick and have terrible times and you talk about it. That's where you compare the 42, right? A lot. If you got up on a line and put two guys that are some of the fastest athletes, I guarantee you, if you blow an air horn, they might be the same people. And you put them on the line at the 40 yard dash, right, do they have the right stance? Do they have the right technique, the right get off, you know, the right back end speed? There's so many different, you know, technical things that goes into some of these testing drills that I think that people don't realize and. Yeah, but. Sorry, I got a little off track.
Bobby
No, you didn't, you didn't.
Wingo
5 I think is something, something that I'm very well at.
Bobby
Yeah, it's interesting you say that too, because you're not off track. That is the topic is the drills. But it's crazy how hard it is to run a 40. Like, I remember playing ball, like in a game, I could run with anybody. The A44 running back breaks one down the sidelines and I could chase him down across the field. But you put me on the 40, I can't run a 40. I don't know what it is. Like, it's hard to run a 40. It's like Wingo is not lying. Like, there's so much technique to like, get on a line and get in a stance and come out and keep your head down the first 10 yards. Or there's so much stuff Nick Hicks could, you know, he's got the bobble on it. But there is so much stuff that goes into a 40 where, like, you might be a fast guy and when lights come on, you're awesome. But 40 is a hard thing to do. And to see kids running the four threes and stuff like that is very impressive. And to go back to what I think I would do well, at probably none of that. So my bread and butter would have to be the meetings. Right. I'd go into the room. I'm not gonna blow you away with the 40. I'm not gonna do all these things.
Wingo
But taking the shirt off.
Host 1
Yeah, yeah.
Bobby
Like Burt Kreischer. You're gonna love the kid. You're gonna know I love football. I'm not going to be out partying. I'm going to be in the building and you're going to have to love me for who I am. And that's where I'm going to stand out.
Host 1
Bobby just answered the like. Like, what's. What do you like about me? Question with personality. That's what he answered that with. And I love it. I love it. I'm. I mean, I'm in the same boat. I don't think I could run a single drawer right now. I think my. I'd probably tear something if I even attempted your cameras out too.
Gravis Vasquez
Oh, great.
Host 1
Look at that. They can. There goes my cam. So you're just gonna have to listen to my beautiful voice.
Wingo
You just gave the. The keys. The keys to the. The NFL combine body. I think it's. It's crazy when we talked about, you know, risers and fallers on how, you know what it's supposed to look like. You talked about Reuben Bain's arms. You go into those meetings and have a crap meeting and realize you don't.
Host 1
Yeah.
Wingo
About ball and.
Bobby
Yeah.
Wingo
Don't know what you're talking about. And you're selfish and this and that. And those things stand out. Right. You're immediately dropping. Like when you talk about the things that would drop you the most. And in the draft, it is those meetings 100% right. They're looking for things like personality, you know, do you love ball? Really? Because that's the biggest question with guys in the league. And this is across all sports. Right? There's so much money involved. And even in college football and college sports with nil, there's so much money involved. Now it comes to the point, do you really love ball? Do you really love the sport? Is this what you want to do? There's so many athletes out there now, it's just like, hey, I'm doing it for the money. I'm doing it for this. It takes a different type of player to really love what you're doing and wake up every single day from 5:00am to 10:00 clock at night and. And you're basically just running into walls for a Living and getting paid for it. Right. But not a lot of people enjoy just running through somebody's face non stop over and over get paid for it. So those are the things that I think make the biggest difference on a high caliber athlete in those hall of Famers to those average Joes who are just, you know, in the league or whatever it might be in athletics. That's just there for the money.
Gravis Vasquez
Yeah.
Bobby
And I do believe that's where I agree with you as far as like, is the combine overrated? I do think a kick can really help his draft stock on the drills running a fast forward. He doesn't hurt you? Obviously. Like what Sony Styles did yesterday. Absolutely. Semen in him in the top 10. But I do think it's funny how people will see a kid run a little slow in the 40 and go, man, he just killed himself. They don't realize two days before this, he made 20 teams fall in love with him. They don't understand that, like, he already did the hard part. He went on the whiteboard in front of a whole coaching staff and cooked. They don't understand, like, it doesn't matter what he did on that field. He already has 20 teams ready to draft him in the second round. And like, that's the part people don't understand.
Host 1
100%. 100%. Well, gents, while we're trying to figure out, oh, is my camera kind of. I'm like, kind of.
Pooch
We're having in and out of tech issues, but I think we're okay.
Host 1
Well, while, while we fig this, my camera out, I will leave you guys with this. In terms of the latest thing that came out of the NFL outside of the salary cap stuff or the, what is it? The report cards. The NFL report cards. The Dolphins continue to, to, to land at the number one spot dominate. Right? We, that's where. That's our super bowl is the NFL report cards is our Super Bowl. Does that, does anyone take that into account? Like, in the sense of like, if you're a free agent, like, not that you're looking at the report card, but like the reports of like, you know, facilities and all this stuff, like, is that a huge help? How important are these report cards? I mean, because we keep winning them. So I'll leave that with you guys while I'm trying to fix this camera.
Wingo
Yeah, absolutely. Absolutely not. When you look at all these guys know each other. They played at the senior bowls together, they played at the combine. You know, they just ask each other, hey, how's your facility? How's your Your meals, how's your training staff, how's your facilities and all that stuff like that. So I don't think that's something that they definitely look into too much. You know, I feel like if they were, maybe, you know, we'd be going to the playoffs as. As Dolphins fans down here. But, yeah, I don't think we're diving too much into all those play.
Bobby
Maybe the living conditions are a little too good in Miami. Maybe we need to cut back on the protein, make them start eating macaroni and cheese.
Wingo
You know what they're. They're actually, what they're probably doing is they're hanging out with the Florida Panthers on a Wednesday at Elbow Room and not. Not down there in practice, man. We.
Pooch
We.
Wingo
Yeah, we got to figure it out here. It's. It's baffling to. To see some of this stuff. And that's where I go back to. It's really just grabbers, grabber attentions for the fans and for the critics and. Oh, get something for people to talk about.
Host 1
Right.
Wingo
And it's all. It's all just things that are irrelevant to actually when it comes to getting on the gridiron between the lines and playing ball. So it is what it is.
Bobby
Yeah. I don't think it's gonna make you, like, make you or break you and land in a free agent if you got the money and your contract makes sense and there's a need you can sign guys. But I do think it's a pride thing. Right. I do think it holds people accountable. You don't want to be publicly known as the team that sucks. Like, we don't take care of our players. We don't take care of their families here. We don't have the amenities. We don't feed them well. So it does do that. And like, you see the commanders, the commanders went from 32nd to 11 to now three this year. So I think that is the part I like about it. You can't just pass the ball on it and, like, ignore it because people are going to call you out. So if anything, it is a pride thing. Makes people kind of pick up their game a little bit and does create better work environments for some teams.
Pooch
And we do have a list here. I know, I know you guys kind of went through the list, but we do have a full list of the report card rankings, kind of where everyone landed. Just so we can take a gander at the full, full list here, Miami
Host 1
has it offense, the greatest report card team.
Wingo
Yeah. No, no wins and losses on that Thing makes me angry even looking at that. Wasting my time.
Pooch
Pitiful.
Bobby
Well, they're trying to cancel it even
Wingo
more down here in Miami.
Host 1
Yeah. Oh, man. Oh, man. All right, well, gents, I know my camera is going to be a little flashy, so just stay with us. But right now, our guest Gravis Vasquez is in the building. So we are going to jump to the NBA. And let's get Gravis on. Let's welcome him on. Let's go, baby. Let's go. What up, Gravis?
Gravis Vasquez
What up? What up?
Host 1
Get them set up here real quick.
Gravis Vasquez
She's live, huh?
Host 1
Oh, yeah, we're live. We're coming to you live.
Gravis Vasquez
Guys, taking this to another level. I'll see you. I see you guys. All right.
Wingo
So LeBron or MJ?
Gravis Vasquez
That's a good question. That's a good question. Definitely MJ.
Host 1
Hey, I'm an MJ guy too.
Bobby
Yeah, good answer.
Gravis Vasquez
I mean, I. I don't want to take anything away from LeBron. I think Bron is, is holy. He changed. He changed the game of basketball and he back to the game so much. LeBron's and a lot of players in the league are making a lot of freaking money because LeBron James TV rights that he's handling business too. Like a lot of players start coping pace.
Host 1
Yeah.
Gravis Vasquez
You know what he's doing as an active player and you know, everyone we lie. But I'll say this clutch sports, for instance, everyone knows that, you know, it's wrong agency.
Host 1
Yeah.
Gravis Vasquez
But obviously in paper it's not because he's still active players. So that's one of the business he has where he's very successful. So he's able to utilize his platform and to me, a little bit better. Just a little bit better than Michael Jordan. But basketball wise, Michael Jordan the goat.
Host 1
The goat. I will say, listen, obviously being In Miami, having LeBron on these heat teams, incredible. So. But I'm with you. I think Jordan, there's just something about the. The killer man, he was, is different athlete, different pro.
Gravis Vasquez
Like his mentality that you can hear so many stories in those NBA locker rooms where like Michael used to get to like home carefully early with his Ferrari and, and just waiting like the boss from the, you know, visitor team. And it's just like while the guys were coming off the bus, he was like, okay, who's guarding me tonight?
Host 1
Yeah.
Gravis Vasquez
So like imagine it's Michael Jordan. Who was gonna say, like me, I'm good.
Bobby
That's where. That's where I'm a little biased. I'm actually a Jordan or Kobe guy. I don't even consider it LeBron.
Gravis Vasquez
You, you know what? You take you Mamba mentality, man. Mike, hey, hey, I love Mike, but Kobe is like my hero. Is the guy that I play the, the game of basketball for. Like, it was such a privilege and, and, and you know, an unbelievable dream come true for me to play against Kobe and, and able to win games against Kobe in the NBA. Obviously. Mamba mentality forever.
Host 1
Yeah.
Gravis Vasquez
Yeah.
Host 1
Was, was when you were, you know, coming up playing Basel, like, was Kobe or was like, like who was the guy who. I mean, it seems like it's Kobe, but like the guy that you wanted to cover the most or maybe play against just in terms of like, was anyone, Was anyone, like, were you star struck at any point?
Gravis Vasquez
You know, I was in D.C. early this morning and I, I flew to, to Miami and then I was thinking about like my welcome moment for the, like in the NBA. So for me was obviously getting to the league. I wanted to play against Kobe, Ray Allen, Shaq, Jason Kidd. I used to like one of the, the players that I used to love watching watching play was Jason Kidd. Because it's got kind of, it's kind of like the way I played the game as well. Big, tall, point guard. The welcome NBA moment for me was like me trying like experience the fact to play against guys that I used to watch when I, when I grew up in Venezuela. Imagine a kid from Caracas dreaming about, you know, playing in the NBA and all of a sudden, like, I'm there, you know, I'm playing against the best of the best of the game of basketball. So I remember my first, my rookie year, my first like welcome moment was like playing against Boston Celtics, the Big three. And at the moment was Shaq playing for them. So like, I got it late. I got in late, late in the game and it was like a foul situation. Then one of my teammates was. No, well, yeah, one of my teammates, I think it was Rudy Gay was shooting free throws. And you know, I'm trying to box out and I get in, I get in the key and then all of a sudden like turn to my lip like, wow, shock. This is real. Yeah, I'm playing in the NBA, so, you know, and it happens that like for 10 games then I remember playing against Dallas Mavericks. Mavericks and, and during. Now whiskey. Imagine as an international player, for sure, you see a guy like him, like, is, is this like a PlayStation? This is a video game. I'm in the league, man. So then, yeah, by, by, by the 15th game I was like, okay, this is real. I gotta, I gotta act like an NBA player. So then I got competitor and I just wanted to prove that, that I was able, that I belong in the lead. And, and, and then the rest was history unfortunately. Six surgeries on my right ankle and I'm out of the lead. Not because my talent. Let's just, you know, let's just be. Because my injuries and, and my ankle specifically.
Host 1
Yeah, well, I want to touch on something that you, you just said about international player, right Dirk? Being that nowadays, right. Like they even. You were just at the All Star weekend and they did, you know, one of the, was the, you know, USA versus the international team. Talk a little bit about that. First off the experience of being there. I know you had a chance to talk to like KD and these guys like, but how cool is it seeing that there is now like at the All Star Game, an international team that, that is as good as anybody. You know what I mean? Like there's so many stuff.
Gravis Vasquez
Well, first I was really proud and, and excited about representing say than Kilo in, in throughout the All Star week. And we're talking about the, the, the actually the game. You know, when you, when you talk about international players right now since 2018, like a American player hasn't win an MVP. 2018, the last American player that won an MVP, NBA MVP was James Harden. Ever since then it's like Nicola Jokic, Johnny's SGA this past year.
Bobby
So.
Gravis Vasquez
And I can name three more obviously. So what it is, is for me as an international player that's been in this country the last 20, 25 years, I think the nil is making impact in youth basketball, like unused basketball. I truly believe because the competition between leagues and minor leagues and all that in terms of like NCAA and NBA is creating this gap with the American players. They're not learning the game properly. They just getting paid, they playing for the money. You know what I mean? So like when you talk about international talent, like I came from South America, like no one was going to pay me $1 to play basketball. So I needed, I needed to show how hungry I was to like, okay, I wanna, I wanna, I wanna play in the league. So what, what it takes. Well, I do what it takes, you know, whether I have to train twice a day, three times a day, whether I have to eat two meals a day, but my mind is said to how can I reach my goal? So I thought that the All Star weekend was fun because it was that level of competition and because it's that going on right now. The international players are dominant. The world players are dominating the NBA. The American players, they're getting really upset. They pissed off. You know, I was talking to kd. I'm like they're talking all this crap. Like, you know, it's good because it represents the lead and the NBA games. You know, the basketball game. NBA is global now. But let's keep, let's just keep it straight. Like with the ones running Lee and then.
Host 1
Yeah.
Gravis Vasquez
And I was like ad brother. Do you see Nicola Jokish numbers? You know what I mean? Like, like have you ever, have you guys seen anything like that throughout, you know, the history of the NBA? And this guy might not be the MVP this year. So. Because the new rule. But with that being said, I mean I thought, I thought he was a really good format. The game was really competitive. And, and the funny part is like the Internet, the world team didn't win.
Host 1
Yeah.
Gravis Vasquez
And, and that saves a lot. So that the Americans players sends a message. And actually, you know, the NBA recuperated the fact that the viewers and the fans were engaged watching the game. You know, and that is important. But they still got to work on the Don contest.
Host 1
To me, yeah, 100.
Gravis Vasquez
That was garb. I mean, I wouldn't say that because a guy that wanted Keisha Johnson, I mean he's. I, I interview him for Telemundo and you know, he's a cool guy. His energy won the context for real. He was really energetic. He was showing his personality. But this, this down contest and three point contest, you want to see the best of the best. And, and, and when, when I, when I say the best, you talk about superstars for sure. You want to see Braun, you want to see Anthony Edwards, you want to see guys like, you know, they can jump out of the, out of the gym.
Host 1
Yeah.
Gravis Vasquez
But also that dominates the league. And, and I think the NBA is still trying to look how they can get the dawn context a little bit better. But I thought they find the right format to, you know, make please the fans. Because the media was really going hard on the players last year. Last year it was to me one of the worst all star games in the history of the game.
Host 1
No, I'm with you. And it's funny you bring up the dun constitue po like those used to mean something. Right? Like, I mean Jordan used to be in those things.
Gravis Vasquez
Imagine that.
Host 1
Yeah, exactly. Like, you know, I mean like even not that long ago, like Vince Carter and like, like it used, it used to mean something to these guys. And now, you know, obviously they're with injuries and you know, and I guess like trying to keep themselves from potentially hurting. They've not done it, but it has absolutely hurt the product in an exchange, right? We've had some good ones like Blake Griffin and stuff, but like, I don't know, I'm with you. I think you need, you need stars.
Gravis Vasquez
So when you, when you go to a basketball arena, an NBA arena, you pay a ticket for what you really pay a ticket to watch your team or you're paying a ticket to watch a particular player.
Host 1
I feel like, yeah, basketball is what is in my opinion the most star driven sport for sure.
Wingo
And it's crazy that you were talking about the All Star Game. I'm not sure if you saw on the Pat McAfee show, you know, the GM of the Suns, Phoenix Suns just offered, right? They were talking about having the million dollars for the winner and then a million dollars to charity. And that kind of just, to me, that brings out an opportunity for some of these stars to think about wanting to play in this, right? You talk about money, right? Now, here's a million dollars. You go out here and shoot a three point, right? Steph Curry now wants to go out there and you could say, yeah, right, you've made enough money in your career, but money's money at the end of the day. And still that gives you an opportunity to give to a charity, right? That looks good on you, that looks good on your organization and it's just a good thing overall to do. So I think that's something that can definitely provide to help the All Star Games kind of get back to something that the fans would be willing to watch and, and encourage to see.
Gravis Vasquez
Well, to add to, to your point, I think as a former NBA player, you know, probably old school minded, I feel like players need to bring their pride back, the love of the game, you know what I mean? Like, like, golly, that, hey, I, I want to bust somebody's ass, you know, in a way, like I, okay, I wanna, I wanna be, I want to be better than Vince Quarter. Like, you know, I want to be better than Tracy McGrady. Guys like being there, done that, like, like, you know, it's, it's a great platform, you know, start thinking like, oh, I might get injury or I make enough money. Yeah, that, that, that is good. I'm not against any of that, but like the love of the game, you know, I want to see that, I want that to be like probably the main point of like, why are you playing basketball that is going to take you to the money? Like, like it's been in, in the league. But I feel like, you know, a lot of players and, and that's what I was saying, like, Nil, that this is another topic. I, I get it. But nil is making impact in, like, on these young players, especially basketball players. Like, these guys get paid while they in high school. These guys get paid when. But to get an education, which is, you know, imagine me. And I'm not a hater. I'm here. I love being here. But, you know, I destroyed the acc. I was ACC player of the year.
Wingo
You'll be rich.
Gravis Vasquez
Imagine that. Rich. Imagine that. Like, like how much money I would have made my. My junior year in college for sure.
Bobby
Listen, I'm a Carolina fan and I would have paid you to be Duke's ass.
Gravis Vasquez
And you know what's funny, man? I'll say this, I'll say that. I'll say something here because I, I love you guys. I love Andre. I'm watching Duke and what you. What you. What's your thoughts about Gerald Shire and what he's doing? And I ask you this because I play against John. Like, he was my rival throughout my college career. Like, every time we played Duke, they

Gravis Vasquez
It was just me and him going at it. You know what I mean? And now I see him like, like having such a success as a head coach in such a, like, early time. Like, is he's still too young to be. I mean, as a head coach and, and once again, he's ranked number one. Like, as. As a university. New basketball is one right now. But I mean, it surprised me. Like, what, less than six years and he's already like a top coach in college.
Wingo
Basketball, I think that definitely is a testament to what you were talking about is nil.
Host 1
Right.
Wingo
You look at Duke having, you know, so much success in the past and so much trajectory towards their basketball school. They have the resources and the money to be able to go out and get those top recruits. They have what they need to be able to bring those guys in. When you have a young coach and you mix that with money, I think that's just, that's somewhere I want to play, right. I'm making money, I'm with a young coach who relatable, knows what he's talking about.
Host 1
Ball.
Wingo
And now I just got to go do is go out there and win games. So I think that's definitely.
Gravis Vasquez
And, and actually I'm. I agree with you. And, and like Cooper Flag, I don't know if that works the same thing in college football as well. Like Cooper Flag, before he touched an m, like an NBA core, he already made what, 25 to $30 million?
Host 1
Yeah.
Gravis Vasquez
So, like, don't you, like, you tell me about the impact, like, maybe not on Cooper Flat, because obviously he was the number one peak. He's, you know, this is a hard worker guy, very disciplined guy. But, like, you don't think that will affect the game in a way?
Wingo
I think, I think that it already has affected the game. I think when you look at it, you were talking about like, do you love ball? Right? I think it's the same for football, for baseball, for basketball, all these sports. That there's so much money at such a young age. If you're not grown up, right, you're playing the game for a few years at college and you make enough money, you're like, you know, do I really want to be the best anymore? Because you got a couple in your pocket. Like, that is destroying the game, in my opinion. Now, don't get me wrong, I do think that these athletes should be compensated for the things that they do because they do work hard. Right. And there's a lot of people that get compensated that don't actually put in the work that they do. They don't go through the levels of stress, the level of, you know, work ethic and what they have to do on a day to day basis, mentally and physically. Physically. But it comes to a point where there's got to be somewhere where we can look at these athletes and be like, hey, you still got. At the end of the day, you got to go out there and compete. You got to show that you really love playing the foot, playing football, playing basketball, playing baseball. And, you know, this. You said that this was your dream when you were five years old growing up, and this is what you want to die doing. Right. But then you get some money in your pocket, and you're like, ah, my knee hurts a little bit, or I got a little banged up. Come on, man.
Gravis Vasquez
So. So. And I know we're talking basketball, we're talking football, but, like, the relationship between ncaa, NFL, and NBA, you think that relationship is sincere? Like, they. They like each other. They. They. They know. Like, are they in a consistent, like, I don't know, competition? Like, because I remember when with the NBA, they. They pushed the gl, so they tried to get young players, instead of going to college, go to the G League because they were making some dollars. But then three years after, because the best players were going. Were going to the G League, and then the ncaa, it was like, no, no, nil. So, like, wow. So it's a competition in between leagues for sure. That sometimes, like, I really want to educate myself even more about this topic because as a. As a Latino. And for instance, if you're a Latino and. And you coming from another country as an international student.
Host 1
Yeah.
Gravis Vasquez
You might not be able to get nil here.
Host 1
Yeah.
Gravis Vasquez
So, like, I'm trying to educate my people because some of them don't know, like, oh, no, no. You don't get paid like someone that was born in America. So, like, you, Nil, have to be in your country, and there's ways to, you know.
Wingo
Yeah.
Gravis Vasquez
Get over all that. But, like, asymptote. Important to educate the audience because some of them, like, I don't know. Yeah. Cooper flies like, a 40 million. Yeah. But what if. What if you find another, like a Luca Donchi for college? Yeah.
Host 1
Yeah.
Gravis Vasquez
So how's he gonna get his 20 million?
Wingo
Yeah. And it is crazy, because this. This is how it works for all sports. Right. I'll give you an example. I had one of the guys that played football with me at the University of Florida was Australian, and he couldn't make nil in the United States because, you know, he was on a. On a school visa. So if he wanted to do that, they would actually sometimes pay for him to go to the Bahamas to do charity work in order for him to have that. But here's the deal. When he was getting certain payments from the University of Florida and nil and all these things, he would get taxed both in Australia.
Bobby
Damn.
Wingo
United States. So now he's losing out on double the money that he was supposed to get. So I think there's a lot of different rules and loopholes that you can go through. But we got to figure out a way to make it consensus. Because when you look around the world, right, obviously, you know, America has amazing athletes here, but when you talked about basketball, winning the mvp. These guys are from overseas, right? Some of these athletes in basketball are coming from.
Gravis Vasquez
It's a global gaming nowadays. And more so, like, you know, like, we can go here, like we can go like on and on and on. But like for instance, like now you can get yourself into a portal to transfer to another school. Like as a coach, said GM of any school, like, how can you have a player for a year? Like like the essence of program, it's like the essence of the game. Like, I guess it's the same thing for football, right?
Wingo
Free agency every year.
Host 1
Yeah.
Gravis Vasquez
So. But, but yeah, and you know, it's cool, but like how you build some type of professionalism.
Host 1
Yeah. What?
Gravis Vasquez
I don't know. Maybe I'd be. I'm wrong. I don't know.
Host 1
Yeah. For me, I'm. I'm a big, I'm a big FIU guy. Right. So it's a G5 school, smaller school. Those are the, those are actually the schools that really are getting affected because if you can, you have a star, right? You have a star one year. You used to be able to build off of that. Yes, it kind of happens everywhere. These P4 programs, the big schools kind of replenish every year anyway. But they're taking from like, you know, an fiu, right. All our best players essentially go to play at P4 the next year. Right. So it is hard to build that consistency. And, and, and you know, in my opinion, the transfer portal is like, if I were to fix something in college, for me, probably that.
Gravis Vasquez
Right.
Host 1
It'd be the trans report. Because I think, my opinion, I think you should be able to transfer freely one time, but then the next time you want to transfer, I think it should go back to the one year. Wait, just because like, you know, a guy playing at a new school every year I think is just a little bit too much. Like, I think that's like a little bit too much in my opinion.
Gravis Vasquez
For me, it's like I'd rather like two year deals, you know, minimum, like get a two year deal. Because that's what I like as a coach, as a gm and you can
Host 1
at least build something.
Gravis Vasquez
I can build something because at the end of the day, you know, fans, man, the fans that like, like they pay for, you know, they pay for a lot of different stuff just to watch their schools and, and support the, the football program and the basketball program. But my conclusion with all this is that that is really affecting the game of basketball, especially the pros, the NBA, because as of right now, I don't see any American. And I'll say this, and that sounds like a division. It's not really a division because we're talking about, you know, we were talking about the All Star and all that. But like who do you guys think is going to be the face in the NBA? Because we got Jokic, we got Luca Donchi, we got Wemby victory.
Host 1
That's right.
Gravis Vasquez
We got Johnny's.
Host 1
Yeah.
Gravis Vasquez
So like I don't see in the conversation.
Host 1
I've got one guy sga. Yeah. I've got one. My guy, Aunt Edwards. I love him though.
Gravis Vasquez
Yes.
Host 1
And he, and he's, and he's someone he like kind of still like.
Gravis Vasquez
I love his attitude.
Host 1
His attitude.
Gravis Vasquez
I love what he brings to the table. Yes.
Host 1
Yes.
Gravis Vasquez
I love the way he carry himself. I love, I really love his energy. But would you talk about body of work? Like, like I watched the All Star Game, Victor W. He should get a couple extra millions cuz he, he took the game to another level. He was like, he was like, you know it. I'm, I'm, I'm competing. I don't care who's watching me. I'mma let the, the whole world know that I'm here and I want to be the face in the NBA and I. Anthony. I'm Anthony. Ed was reacting.
Host 1
Yeah.
Gravis Vasquez
And he was cooking. You know, another guy that I really like. Another guy that I feel like. And I like him a little more than I like Luca Donchi. In nowadays is K. Cunigan, Detroit Pistons. It's a guy, it's a guy that he's able to. Is a two way player.
Host 1
Yeah.
Gravis Vasquez
Is an solid defender. He's trying to get to be an elite defender, but he's an elite offensive player. He got, he got like, he got a lot on his back, man. He got. This guy is leading a team that you can call me crazy because there's a lot of speculation that they, they need the Robin of Hoogan because he's the Batman. He, he needs another star to, you know, accompany him helping in moments throughout the playoff. But this is a team, bro. Hey. What?
Bobby
Watch your team out the Piston roll.
Host 1
So I actually want to kind of touch on that in terms of like second half storylines. Who you think, you know, could have the opportunity to make a run at the Thunder Century. Right. Because the Thunder obviously are having another great year. They are stacked head to toe. But like a team like the Pistons are really balling right now. Are they like, what are some other teams to look at? The spurs, another one?
Gravis Vasquez
Well, for me, the, the east, the Eastern Conference is wide open. I mean, I'm actually doing a game on Telemundo Sunday night basketball. And is Philly against the Celtics and it could be the return of Jason Tatum.
Host 1
Oh. So, yeah.
Gravis Vasquez
Do you see how, do you see how the Celtics are playing right now with Jalen Brown and now you have Tatum back. So the question is, who's going to be the Robin? Because we already know who the backbang is right now, which is Jalen Brown. He's. He has to be considered to be. He's having an MVP type of season. He's doing really well. And that's, that's a team that, you know, that not only has a lot of history, but they know how to win, especially in the playoff. Detroit Pistons, bottom of the league, bottom of, you know, of the standings last year. Now first, I think they're going to end up. It's going to be hard for the, the Celtics to catch. Detroit Pistons, I think they're going to, you know, they're going to stay there first in the, in the Eastern Conference. The Knicks, another team that, you know, a very solid team and they, they know how to play with each other. Great chemistry. But when you, when you talk about the Western Conference, OKC obviously is the team Chuggernauts.
Wingo
Yeah.
Bobby
It's crazy.
Gravis Vasquez
And, and we can say whatever we want to say. Like, okay, well, they lost against. They lost a few games. Sga. But that like, they still, like, if you see the different lineups that the. They try like this, this team is not only one player or two players. This is a full rack of dudes that know how to play the game of basketball. They top team defensively. They top team offensively. And for me, the other team that, the two other teams on the west that I really like and I, and I, I feel like it could be a potential conference finals in the West. It'll be San Antonio spurs and, and the Denver Nuggets. I mean, if the Denver Nuggets are able to be healthy and Joke is able to be healthy, I think they're gonna have a shot at okc. But you cannot leave San Antonio Spurs. Why? Because they already be okc. They dominated okc. They can catch OKC and ended up first. So, you know, I, I just. That's another team like no, they know how to play together and Wemby might not be the star of the team if you, if you take a look at like if you go deep on that roster. So I think the west is, is a little, it's much tougher. Obviously when you, when you touch the Lakers, you're talking about a team that is, it's a one way team. They play okay offense, they played no defense. Like I don't think Luca and LeBron they tried at all to play any type of defense like over this team and they, they got to be one of the worst teams allowing oh efficient field goals per game. So Minnesota Timber Rules is another team like with Anthony Edwards like you know, they gotta get over hump, you know, trying to get to the conference finals again. Do they have what it takes that you gotta be, you gotta be at least Denver Nuggets, San Antonio spurs and okc. So yeah, that's my take.
Host 1
Yeah. Listen, I, you didn't mention the Heat in there where the Heat.
Gravis Vasquez
Well, the Heat, they play in a totally different style of basketball. They actually, they first impaced per possession but they doing something that is not really their identity. They're not playing as tough defense as a team as in the past. This is a team that is ranked bottom in the lead defensively. And that's rare. That's, that's unusual. Like you don't see teams from, from the Exposter and Pat Riley that they, they are defensive team. That's why they have success the last decade and, and, and, and you know it take it take. It's a process to adjust to the way they plan. Since they have a different roster too. Najimi Bobbler and they're trying to play faster, create more offensive possessions and, and have their offense to be kind of like the thread of how they win games. And that's, that's, that's out of character. I think the Heat is, is a team that I, I won't say that they're not gonna make the playoff. I think they got a chance to make the playoff play in or maybe qualify to the playoff. But in order for them to compete like they usually compete, they gotta pick up their defense.
Host 1
Yeah, no, I, I'm with you. And, and like for me like bam. I need, I need Bam to, to kind of step it up a little bit too. But you know he's the defensive anchor
Gravis Vasquez
but, but the thing is people expect him to be Jimmy Bobbler. Guys like KD like to take a Lee and be more proactive offensively. I don't think he's that guy. He's, he's a perfect, I think he's a perfect Robin for a superstar. You know what I mean? I don't think he's the guy that you can just give him the ball and be like okay, go ahead win. Win the game for us. And, and, and, and, and that's what people expected because he's so loyal to the Heat and, and, and the way he carry himself and, and he, how he you know, embraced the, the, the Heat culture. But I, I think that, I mean hopefully Tyler heroes, you know, can be a, a, a major impact for them because he, you know, he, he wasn't really healthy healthy. So he got back the other night. He got 24 points of 25, 26 points in 24 minutes. I. But once again defense and defense wins championship. If any team in this league knows how to win championships, it'll be the Miami 100, 100.
Bobby
I want to ask you a little bit about the Lakers. I don't think they're going to be a true contender again until post LeBron. I think you got to get the Luca Donchic and another superstar down the road and then I think they can compete again. But like where do we see the important ways and like how long does this drag? Because like we talked about it earlier, big Kobe guy, I'm a Lakers fan, I'll tell you that. But it hurt us down towards the end of Kobe's career because we just you know, respecting him and taking care of him, paying him max contracts when he wasn't Kobe anymore. And that's kind of where we're getting, where LeBron is. You, he deserves his respect, obviously a legend of the game. But you can't build a team and be the team and contend like you want at the end of these guys careers. So how do we get past LeBron or when does that happen and who do you maybe see teaming up with Luca and LA next?
Gravis Vasquez
Well first your first question. I will answer this like yes, I, I get it. LeBron earns his respect. But more so like let's talk about the front office of the Los Angeles Lakers. Like when you bring Braun, when you have Lebron and you bring, you brought Lucas on on the roster. So my, my thing is how can you even bring players around these two players that you know LeBron at this 41 years old and you know the scatter report from Luca, like both, both of these guys are like liabilities defensively in nowadays. So like it's hard to blame like Braun and, and wow, that. Oh, can. Okay. What's going to happen with Bron? Is he going to play another year? No, these guys still can make impact in the game, but I think the players around then are not the right players. And, and that's what it is. So I gotta hold accountable the front office. Like for instance, if you go out there and get role players like Marcus Smart, that was a good one. You know what I mean? Why? Because he's able to play defense and be an angle, like an anchor of your defense and help the perimeter defense. This is a guy that is gonna, it's a good, it's a great leader. A guy that can, you know, a good, a relatively good three point shooter. So I just, for me, I believe they're not gonna be contender and I don't think the, the problem is going to be solved whether LeBron is gone and they're gonna start building around Luca because right now the front office is showing that in terms of like player personnel, they're not doing a good job, man. And people have to say that. I mean, yeah, the players around these two, the, these two superstars, they cannot even hit a three. Like I was doing the game Sunday night basketball. The Knicks against the Lakers, the Lakers against the Knicks and they shot like 47 threes and then, and then. And a wide open. Most of those threes were wide open because obviously Luca attracts two defenders. Someone is open on the three point line. So wide open shots, good offense. But they couldn't act those, those sh. Now. So like the Lakers have many, many troubles and they're going to depend on like the decision making of the front office. I think LeBron, we don't know what's going to happen with LeBron. I. We don't know whether he's coming back. We don't know he's. Whether he wants to go to the, the Cleveland Cavaliers and let's be. Franklin, he dominates the NBA. He is the man, he is the chief. Like whatever he say, whatever he wants to do the, the next couple years or next year is why he said he earned it. So like what is the front office going to do about that? Are they going to wait for him? Are they gonna, they're already paying his respect or they're gonna think business. Because I tell you this, that's what Pat Riley did. Pat Riley told him, I love you, thank you for the championships. Peace. You know what I mean? I can win games. I, I won championships as a, as a, as a brokeaster, as a coach, as a player and as A GM president. So like more so, you know, I question the front office. And with that, I wouldn't be surprised if we see Janice Antetokounmpo next year with, with, with the Lakers.
Host 1
That would be a team up that,
Gravis Vasquez
that, that would be a savior.
Bobby
Now we're talking.
Gravis Vasquez
But, but, but please, as a fan and, and as a basketball fan and, and, and as a basketball lover, you, you gotta, you gotta take, you gotta take a deep look of like what is the front office doing? Because I don't feel that I don't. I truly like the.

You've made it on time for the McDonald's breakfast menu. You think to yourself, finally I could start my day with my perfect breakfast. But what if breakfast could be even more perfect with the hot honey sausage egg biscuit? It finally is. This won't last forever, so go to McDonald's and go get it while you can. Ba da ba ba ba.
Bobby
Try angel soft for your tushy.
Gravis Vasquez
It's made by Angels Soft and strong. Budget friendly.
Bobby
The choice is simple.
Gravis Vasquez
Pick up a pack today.
Bobby
Angel soft.
Wingo
Soft and strong.
Host 1
Simple.
Gravis Vasquez
Past five years they haven't been able to build a, a, a right roster. A roster that can make sense. The game is different nowadays. You shoot a lot of threes nowadays and the guys surrender. Luca and LeBron, they just not a good three point shooter. So.
Bobby
Yeah, yeah, and I'll go even further. Like Austin Reeves. Austin Reeves, another dog. Him and Luca. The beginning of the year, before LeBron came back, we're playing great ball together. But now you look at it like you said, you got three guys that are ball dominant guards, they need the ball to be successful. You need role players, you need Robinson, you need these guys. Marcus smart, good perimeter. Aiden's done okay, I think for, you know, a buyout option. Aiden's lived up to the hype. He's played a good year. I think he averages a double double. So you can't complain there. But I agree. You got three ball dominant guys that are supposed to be your stars just not meshing. And no one's playing defense, so it just, it really doesn't work.
Gravis Vasquez
It's ugly indeed.
Host 1
Yeah. Well, Gravis, I got one last thing for you. And it's not even a basketball thing, all right?
Ad Voice
We.
Host 1
One of our topics that we're going to cover today is the World Baseball Classic. All right? I wanted to get your reality. I like, I like the reaction.
Gravis Vasquez
Are you guys baseball fans?
Host 1
So I'm not a huge baseball guy. I don't know about, about Wingo. Or Bobby. I know, I know. Andre. What? Phillies fan.
Gravis Vasquez
All right, now we're talking, you know, baseball a little bit. Nice.
Host 1
So I want to get your reaction on, in the sense of, like, the tournament.
Gravis Vasquez
What. Good.
Host 1
I was gonna say, like, like your thoughts on that tournament and like, how, where it stands with all these other, you know, you see obviously not the All Star game, but like, obviously we just came off the Olympics. I know last year hockey did that like four nations thing, but where it kind of stands with, with all these international tournaments and how, how it's going to be even bigger potentially this year than last year.
Gravis Vasquez
But the World cup, the World Classic for baseball, is, is a, is a tremendous event. I mean, and more so it's going to be here in Miami. You know, that's, that's, that's very important. But I have many concerns, and my first concern is, like, it's not really a world classic. There's so many limitations for players to actually represent their country. You don't see that in the World Cup, Soccer World Cup. You don't see that at the hockey Olympics. You know what I mean? You don't see that at the World Basketball World Cup. So, like, they gotta let these players be free to represent their countries. Is really, for instance, it's really affecting my country, Venezuela. Like all our, like, best pitchers, they're not able to participate because their proteins, the MLB teams, interesting. They, they, they don't allow them to participate because, you know, different type of rules.
Host 1
Yeah.
Gravis Vasquez
And that takes away, in a way, like, the love and the attraction of the World Classic. I mean, so when you, when you, when you see, when you, when you pay a ticket to watch the Doctor vs. Venezuela, that's, that's a classic right there. You know, I mean, you want to be the best. You want to be. You want to see the best talent for both teams because there's a lot of international players, Latinos playing the game of baseball.
Host 1
Yeah.
Gravis Vasquez
And what about Japanese?
Bobby
Like, that's another Japanese taking over, man.
Gravis Vasquez
Yeah, they're only, they're not only taking over. They got the best. They got the superstars of the history of baseball. It's like it's, it's not real. We witnessed something that no one's seen in, in like, who is this guy? Yeah, the guy can pitch, the guy can hit, the guy can play any base, any outfielder. So that's the fun part about baseball.
Host 1
Yeah.
Gravis Vasquez
Let these guys play. Let these guys represent their, their country. And I get it. Some of these guys, some of these athletes, they're Trying get to get contracts. They're trying to stay healthy. This, that right after the World Classic is spring training. So they, they, you know, they want to go into camps. Very healthy. But when you trying to build legacy and when you represent your country, you, you're taking your pride to another level, like playing for your national team, like the hock, the US Hockey team. Wow. Literally talking about that was unbelievable. You know, I mean, like, I, I was so happy for those guys. So, like, I love baseball and it's going to be fun. The World Classic is, is an event of, you know, if you hear Miami, please, yes, go. You're going to have fun. And you better get your tickets now because it's already sold out. But my only concern really is the fact that some of these, some of these teams, they not some of these national teams, they're not going to have their, their best star, like the best players.
Host 1
Why?
Gravis Vasquez
Because these guys are limited. They have limitations from the, from the MLB teams they play for. So. And, and that takes a lot, that takes a weight a lot from the game. So I, I, But I, you know, at the meantime, because I'm Venezuelan and, and for Venezuelan baseball is the first sports I'm excited about. What, what is coming. I mean, to be able to watch Japan as a national team. I mean, these guys are taking over major league. To be able to watch Dominican Republic. Like, these guys are tremendous. Like, Italy is coming. Italy. They play a lot of baseball in Italy.
Host 1
Not only Italy was playing.
Gravis Vasquez
Yeah, Italy's playing.
Host 1
Wow.
Gravis Vasquez
Venezuela. A lot of good Venezuelan players. As we can see, the tournament format right there, you know, we, we have. Puerto Rico is another, another, you know. Yeah, the island, they got super superstars. Even Canada. Canada right there. Panama is pretty good as well. Colombia.
Host 1
Was it this. Maybe I'm wrong, but, like, was it this many countries last year?
Bobby
It's dense. Yeah, I know.
Gravis Vasquez
What the hell is?
Pooch
There's some new ones.
Gravis Vasquez
No, no, It's. It's like 10 more countries.
Host 1
Okay. I was gonna say because it looks like there's way more stills.
Pooch
New.
Host 1
That's sick. Okay.
Bobby
We got Israel on the list. What the hell?
Pooch
They were there last year too.
Gravis Vasquez
But the only, like I say, the only thing about this tournament, the, the World Baseball Classic is the fact that we want to see the best athletes. Yeah, like, like for any sports.
Wingo
I don't think it's gonna last very long for those athletes having those limitations. I'll tell you why. What happens when a country wins and then you start hearing all the backlash? Oh, well, we didn't have so and
Gravis Vasquez
so great points, Great point.
Ad Voice
Man.
Wingo
These athletes are gonna go home and look in the mirrors and be like,
Gravis Vasquez
well, damn, like, yo, you just made me feel. This just made me feel like. You know why? Because my national team qualified to the Olympics. Olympics. And the Brooklyn Nets didn't allow me to go play for my national team because I have some, some ankle problems. So I was crying my ass off after we, we qualified to the Olympics and I wasn't be able to play for my national team, so. You absolutely right. That's a great point. And as a fan, like I say, I paid my ticket to see the best athletes of any sport. So if I go to a, a baseball stadium, I want to see the best pitchers.
Host 1
Yeah.
Gravis Vasquez
I want to see the best hitters. I want to see Otani.
Host 1
Yeah.
Gravis Vasquez
Why I have to pay $2,000, I have to pay $3,000 just to see this guy? Well, I. And I have to take my family because it's, it's an entertainment business too, so like, yes, I'll do that, but I want to watch those players. Yeah, we should not pay.
Wingo
And I think the injuries, if you have a serious injury or something going on, I understand that. But if these guys are chilling, hanging back and they're just being held back because of their contracts or whatever it might be be, I just don't think
Gravis Vasquez
it's funny because, you know, I was reading the other day that the manager from Venezuela, Omar, that's. He was saying like, well, yes, this picture get activated, but I can only use him for like five innings. So like, you played four games. Yeah, the first, like the, the, the first phase of the, of the tournament. So like, like what if this pitcher is important in your rotation? You only got five innings. Oh, but you got another pitcher that, that can only pitch two inn two innings. So like, is that really a world class, a World Baseball Classic or, or is it like a, a, a Sanion tournament? I don't know.
Host 1
I mean, I feel, I feel like you either got to go all in or you just go all in the other. Like in the sense of like for the Olympics, for hockey specifically. Right. The years that they, the NHL players weren't allowed in. Right. They just, you know, we had to obviously do like amateurs. Right. But like once, like this year that they were allowed to play, like, everyone should be able to play in this thing. And of course, and, and it brings the best product. And you look, you watch what it means to these guys who just won. Like for me, like the national sport, whether it's you know, the World Cup Olympics, World Baseball Classic. Like, like that's like, that's the stuff of like that brings the biggest moments. The biggest like goose, like you're cheering your country, you're cheering your player like at the. I don't know, it's a. Cool.
Gravis Vasquez
That was my favorite, man. That was awesome, man. I was, I was walking, I was in Georgetown when they were like walking around and I saw the polo store. I'm like, I want to buy everything from USA because, because, because the hockey team like really, it was really fun to see that. And obviously that the, you know, I love Toronto, I play in Canada, I love Canadians. And, and, and you know, I, I won't say how excited I am and how happy I am the US One because I live in the US but, but it was fun. So like back to baseball, like they hurting the game and, and, and then the engagement and when you talk about TV rights and, and you talk about making dollars in terms of Lee, I mean these leagues, the NHL, the NFL, the NBA, especially mlb, they gotta, they have to allow these players and managers to be able to, you know, play baseball.
Wingo
Play baseball, yeah. So I got a question. This is kind of for everyone, right? When you look at adding these things like you talk about the World Baseball Classic, you're adding the Four nations, you're adding the Olympics, you're adding all these all star games for basketball. Should, when you look at the MLB and NBA, should the regular season games be shortened, right? Should the game, should there not be 80 something games in the entire season? Should there not be 100 games in the MLB? Should we shorten that regular season to allow room for players to be healthy to actually participate in all the regular season games? Because what's the point of having 80 something games when your star player is only playing 40? What's the point of having 100 something baseball games when you're, you're changing your, your lineups every 10 games, right? How about we shorten that and then when you do have these, you know, all star things or these, you know, special competitions that bring attraction to the sport, that bring revenue, that bring people out there to see these star players, they're healthy, right? You can go out and see them, you can bring your family and this is an experience you're going to enjoy and you're going to remember for the rest of your life to bring that and have that opportunity.
Gravis Vasquez
I'm with you. I feel like, you know, I want them to shorten the games, even like the minutes like 48 minutes, like for an NBA game. But when you talk About Baseball is 120, some 160 games.
Bobby
It's insane.
Gravis Vasquez
So, like, like, like how many really. I love the Marlins. You know, I live down the street. So, like, how many games do. Do I go to?
Host 1
Like, yeah, I just have seen tickets and I, I mean, it's impossible.
Gravis Vasquez
It's just hard to go to every game. It's just like, you know, at the end of the day, man, is. It's about business deals and, and sometimes the money talks and, and unfortunately. Right. You know, in this platform that we are right now is. It's important to tell the fans, like, yeah, we want this more accessible. We want this more fun. We, we, you know, we want a perfect world. But like, when you talk, if, if we able to interview like commissioners, like the NFL commissioner, you might, you guys might have a chance to do that next year at the Super Bowl. NBA commissioner with me here. Then you ask him, like, hey, can you guys. Are you guys discussing to shorten the games and decision and, and make it more fun throughout the playoff where we want to watch? And they always gotta tell you, you know, a diplomatic answer, which is, I'm fine with it because I understand. Like, you see the, the salaries right? In nowadays in the NBA. Like, to me, the NBA is. It's ridiculous. Like, next year, Anthony Davis has a player auction, $62 million. So you think he wants to shorten the games by any chance?
Wingo
Who was the player that. That, that hurt their finger? Was it Anthony or I. I missed.
Gravis Vasquez
Anthony Davis.
Pooch
Yes.
Wingo
Right.
Gravis Vasquez
Got a finger, my brother.
Wingo
But out for the season.
Gravis Vasquez
You see that hockey thing? That the guy you were talking about
Wingo
pride and what it means to play the game.
Gravis Vasquez
Like, come on, man, you can pay $62 million.
Wingo
You can give me a thousand dollars
Host 1
and I'll go out there.
Gravis Vasquez
I'm with you, though. You take something like fire, I'm with you. But, you know, it's my. Like, I was, I was at the. I was with the Junkies yesterday. So radio, like, guys be doing radio for the last 30 years. And they were asking me, like, do you think Anthony Davis gotta be healthy enough to like, you know what? I don't know anything about health with him. All I know is, like, if he wants to, like, kind of like repair his legacy? Because everyone talks about Anthony Davis. Like, he's like, yeah, he's. He's a Hall of Famer. But the last two years, you. You're an injury prom. Like, people are people making memes mimis. About you, like the hockey player that got, you know, his teeth broken. And then. I saw.
Host 1
I think I saw the videos, like, the comparison of, like, I was.
Gravis Vasquez
I was like, that's messed up, man. That's my boy. Don't be doing that. But 62 million next year, man. Hey, man, I'm with you. Hopefully they showing the games in the season because it's important, but, you know, at the end of the day, it's about money. And. And I finished with this. I know you guys got other things, too, but, like, imagine soccer in the US in the next 20 years. Be careful, NFL. Be careful, NBA. Because, like, when you step outside this country.
Wingo
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Gravis Vasquez
Soccer is the best sport in the whole world, in the planet. And we. And we are going to witness that here.
Host 1
Yes.
Gravis Vasquez
In the United States, here in Miami. Could be awesome, the World Cup. So get your tickets to stay tranquila, not just play.
Host 1
I need those tickets. I need. I need to go. I need to hit the Portugal, Colombia game. That's the one.
Gravis Vasquez
I need to call me, boy. Call me. I got you.
Host 1
Hey. All right.
Gravis Vasquez
Say I have that on tape.
Host 1
I have that on tape. Awesome, Gravis. Thank you, man, for joining us. Listen, we're about to do a quick debate of the week. You're more than welcome to stay on if you want.
Gravis Vasquez
Unfortunately, I got to pick up my daughter from school. I've been away from. From my house the last last week, working. But you know what, guys? I'm. I'm proud of you guys. This format is great. I just like being dudes.
Host 1
Yeah.
Gravis Vasquez
You know what I mean?
Bobby
Yeah, it's cool.
Gravis Vasquez
I'm proud of you guys. I've watched you guys through the NFL week and the super bowl week, and. And I couldn't feel more proud just to be. Just to be part of, you know, of the state tranquilo family. So shout out to Andres. Shout out to everyone here. Thank you for having me.
Bobby
Me.
Gravis Vasquez
We're going to be talking basketball week. If I can invite me here. I love this panel.
Host 1
We're going to have you on like fire.
Gravis Vasquez
So thank you Being.
Bobby
Being dudes and beating Duke.
Host 1
Let's go. Let's go.
Gravis Vasquez
You know what time it is?
Host 1
Thank you.
Gravis Vasquez
Thank you, man.
Pooch
Appreciate.
Gravis Vasquez
Thank you, guys.
Host 1
Thank you.
Gravis Vasquez
Thank you.
Wingo
Appreciate you.
Host 1
All right, everybody. That was Gravis Vasquez. The man, the myth, the legend. Go tune in to his show, the assist. All right? You got to go check him out. He is the man. So we are going to jump into our debate of the week. All right? Our Debate of the week today. What would you do if your girl shows up on a boys trip?
Gravis Vasquez
Wingo, to you.
Bobby
It's always Wingo, man.
Gravis Vasquez
We go, we go, we go.
Host 1
You're kicking.
Wingo
So, look, I mean, me personally, it's gonna be hard to originally go on that trip. To start fair, I would be a little upset. You know, I feel like every guy needs a little bit of space. Right. To enjoy, especially with your boys. And then obviously, you see that, and it probably is going to kill your mood. Not because of something that she did or the way that you feel or the way that. Man, it's just like, sometimes you're just sitting back and you have no worries in the world, right? And then, you know, everyone knows, happy wife, happy life. But sometimes that always is a little bit of a stress factor on the man.
Pooch
So.
Wingo
So, you know. Yeah, so those are. Those are just, you know, that's. That would be a little unfortunate.
Bobby
No, I think you make a good point. It's nothing personal to the woman. It's like, look, when you're around the boys, like, I'll say it, we say some stupid. Like, it's like, I want to be able to speak freely and comfortably. There's a lot of that we find funny. Or like, I would say with Wingo and David that I wouldn't probably say in front of my wife because they just don't understand the. The man is a civil creature.
Host 1
Yeah.
Bobby
So, like, just the way you can sit and have a beer with your boys and the way you can sit and have a beer with your wife sitting next to you is a different environment. But, yeah, it goes both ways.
Host 1
100.
Bobby
She don't want me on the girls trip. I don't go with her, get her nails done. Her and my daughter go. Her and the woman from, like, their friend from church, like, they go do that stuff. They don't need me sitting there like, wait, what'd you say about the soap? Like, they don't need that. So, like, yeah, it goes both ways. And I think. I think you just have to have a good understanding and a respectable, you know, boundary that, like, look, early in our. Me and my wife's relationship, I might have been a little crazier about that stuff, too. Like, what do you mean you're going on a girls trip to the bees? Like, we know ain't nothing good coming out of that. Like, hell no. But, like, as you. You move forward and you find respect and you understand. Look, we're married.
Gravis Vasquez
We got kids.
Bobby
Like, like, if I go on a Golf trip with Wingo and the boys. It's nothing more than that.
Host 1
Yeah.
Bobby
And you need. And you need time to go be yourself. We got kids. You've raised two kids, and that's what you focused on. You need time to be Jada. I need time to be Bobby. And that's where you end up finding yourself.
Host 1
Yeah, no, I'm glad. I'm glad. You probably bring the picture of again. I'm glad.
Bobby
I'm incredible.
Host 1
I'm glad you said that because that's how. That's what I was gonna say too, in the sense of, like, it does absolutely go both ways, right? Like. Like, if my wife was on a girls trip and I pulled up, I mean, there's definitely. There's definitely a level of like, come on, like, what's up, my guy? Like. But yeah, no, I'm.
Gravis Vasquez
I'm.
Host 1
I'm Ditto on what both of you guys said. It's obviously like, it's guys being dudes, man. And so when you're with the guys, it's, it's. It's the. It's. Honestly, that's. That's some of the. The most fun stuff and some of the most stupid stuff that you can get into. Honestly, like. Like the stupidest things in my life happen just when I'm around other guys. Because, like, Bobby said, we are absolutely some simpleton creatures and I wouldn't want any other way. So.
Bobby
Yeah, like, like scooters in San Fran.
Host 1
You just wouldn't get it.
Pooch
Exactly.
Host 1
Exactly. Oh, man. Oh, man. Poochie, you got any insight on that?
Pooch
So my camera's out.
Host 1
Oh, that's Pooch. Bye, Poochie.
Pooch
But. But I'll. I'll talk from. From a.
Host 1
He's like a voice of. He's like, God.
Pooch
He's like, brother, man, it's tough. Obviously. Like, I mean, it's basically what you guys all said. Like, when you're with the guys, there's just a, like a level of just like, stupidity that comes out upon you. That and especially on a trip, you're just like, who gives a crap? Let's just go out and have a time and not even, like, get into, like, trouble or do anything like that. It's just like, bro, like, let's just go and just disconnect and stop worrying about how to be, you know, the perfect gentleman, you know, saying all the right things like, bro, just go out with your boys and just talk nonsense for a couple of days, pound a couple of beers, go to a couple new places and just enjoy the Time. Just being with the dudes, bro.
Host 1
I kind of want to. Honestly, I would crush a beer right now. Like that. Just like, oh, hell, yeah. We gotta start doing that. We gotta start bringing out some beers for the show, man.
Bobby
For sure. I got. I got one pet peeve I want to bring up.
Host 1
Oh, go for it.
Bobby
It's a golden rule. It's like, if you're going golfing, do not call my phone. Text me.
Host 1
Yeah.
Bobby
Like, you know, I'm on a course today. Don't call me. And, like, it's never happened to me because, one, my wife don't give a. She's not calling me. She does her own thing. Two, I hate when we're sitting there and my boys. Girls calling him, blowing them up.
Host 1
Hey.
Bobby
And it's always simple. It's not even that important. It's like, bro, I don't care. Like, personally, I'm not gonna, like, dog you, but, like, also, like, what the hell is she doing, Dude?
Wingo
What you want for dinner? You want me to do the laundry?
Bobby
You know the rules. Like, you know the rules. Rules.
Host 1
Yeah.
Bobby
Don't call your boy when he's on the greens. Come on.
Host 1
I agree. That is. That is a. A hard retweet, because I've seen it. I've seen. And you're, like, teeing up and your boys, like, in the back just on the phone, it's like. It's like, dude, come on. Like, this is. This is a saint. The golf course is a sanctuary. All right? That's where. That's where. Where I. Where I go to escape. Yeah.
Bobby
It's also like, I'm not mad at, like, yes. Actually, I'm not going to use anybody in specific for the example, but somebody gets a phone call. I'm not mad at you. But then you start pacing around, talking to her. I'm like, okay, now this is becoming your problem. Tell her what's up. What the hell?
Host 1
Yeah. Oh, man.
Pooch
Bobby doesn't stand for that. Let's go. Big brother's back.
Gravis Vasquez
Oh, I love it. It.
Host 1
Poochie cam. Poochie cam. Oh. All right, boys, you guys ready for these last two segments? All right. We, of course, have to end it on dude of the week and our cool cat dude moment of the Week, brought to you by Cosmo Tires, both of them stemming from the USA Hockey world. We are looping it back full circle from the kickoff of this episode. Dude of the week. Hello. Buck standing on his damn head. Connor Hallebuck, the Secretary of Defense. He is. I mean, listen, this could have gone To Jack Hughes as well. I mean that's the goal. The golden goal, you know, heard around the world. But I think we had to. To show a little. Little love to Connor Hallebuck. Who, who man, like some of those tapes specifically the. The image of the. One of the. Him with the stick. Stick save behind his back on a wide open net. I mean that. That is the stuff.
Wingo
Presidential medal now.
Host 1
Yeah, yeah, exactly.
Wingo
We got to take some. That's true notes of this. He has a presidential medal. So this, this guy obviously had an unbelievable performance and you know I just think the whole team as a whole obviously. But. But he definitely did something special.
Host 1
Yeah, yeah, yeah. No, yeah. It's like the. Was the per. It's the purple, not the purple Heart, is it? No, it's the. What's the award?
Pooch
The Presidential Medal of Freedom.
Host 1
Medal of Freedom. There you go.
Pooch
The highest civilian honor.
Gravis Vasquez
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Host 1
Well deserved. Connor Hellebuck bringing it home. That's sick man. That image alone. Look at that. Look at that save, dude. Look at that save.
Pooch
It's very similar to Bobby Stave.
Wingo
I don't want to debate it. Bobby's was better.
Host 1
Yeah. Facts we go.
Wingo
I had someone try to debate it debate with me at Elbow Room after
Pooch
the save in the moment and what that save was. I think they have the same energy.
Host 1
Yeah, yeah.
Bobby
The overall body of work though, like I didn't even know who Conor Hellebuk was until the. The Olympics. And like dude, that performance by far is the reason we won. Like it's not even negotiable. Like that's why I mean Hughes made huge plays. Obviously you can't do it without that. But like you have to be in the position to hit a game winner to be able to hit a game winner. And that's because of our goalie. That dude was an absolute dog like incredible performance.
Host 1
100 bob. And one thing to add to that too because one thing that I think also goes unnoticed is that I believe and I could maybe. Maybe I'm wrong in this pooch could correct me in. In the. Okay. But I'm pretty sure Hellebug also got an assist on that last. The game winning goal. I'm pretty positive he was registered as. Because like a second assist, a secondary assist. Technically he was also involved in the golden goal. So you know what I mean. Doing it on both ends of the ice, baby. But yeah it is. I mean he should have won MVP of the. The entire tournament in my opinion. Obviously. But you know he's some. He's winning something bigger Than that. And he's winning due to the week. So there you go, Connor hallebuck. Due to the week and sticking in the u. S. Hockey realm, our cosmo tires. Cool cat, dude. Moment of the week was when the u. S. Hockey team brought out Johnny gadru's killed children, his daughter and son onto the ice. And it was an incredible moment, honestly. Brought tears to many people, I think. Like, I remember my dad texted me and he's like. Like, he's. He's like, man, I haven't cried in a while, and I've got tears in my eyes watching this moment. So I thought it was just really cool for the USA team to obviously honor his legacy, honor his family and. And, you know, include them in this moment because, you know, it obviously the tragic passing, his trash, passing last year and. And this moment, just like I'm. I mean, it doesn't get better than this. I mean, this is truly. This is brotherhood. This is. This is awesome.
Pooch
So I think it's one of those moments that's bigger than sports. And my camera's out again, but I'll comment on this. Obviously, you know, Johnny.
Host 1
Johnny hockey.
Pooch
Johnny hockey, you know, went down tragically. You know, we all know the story there, him and his brother, but it's one of those moments that he just has that spirit of him on that team. And, you know, they. Even in the four nations, they were honoring him, and they honored him. He was a big part of Team USA1. He was still, you know, he was still with us. But it's just one of those moments that, you know, how can you bring him to the ice and they bring his kids up and, you know, the kids might not remember this now, but I'm sure down the line, you know, it's one of those videos that's gonna be etched in u. S. Sports history as one of the most powerful images of, you know, seeing the kids on there with, you know, the gold medal and obviously winning the gold medal and how powerful that was, but that he did have a part of this team and his spirit was, you know, still around. So I think it was 100 really powerful. And, you know, like I said, I was. I was tearing up. I was there watching the end, Tearing up just because, I mean, it's hard not to, you know, feel for the team, feel for the family, but also be happy that, you know, his kids can experience this and that his kids can see that, you know, their dad was a hero, and their dad was a big impact on, you know, us. USA hockey. Hockey and hockey in general.
Host 1
Yeah, well said. Well said. All right, gents. I mean, what a damn episode. Thank you guys for. For tuning in. Gravis was awesome and yeah, this was awesome. Any. Any. Any. Any final thoughts? Wingo, Bobby. I'll toss it to you guys.
Wingo
Just another day. Enjoyed it, you know, talking shop.
Host 1
Talking shop with the boys.
Wingo
Talking shop with the. The boys hanging out. You know, I feel like I'm going to ride this, this USA dub for
Bobby
the next few days, so it's amazing
Wingo
to just enjoy it.
Bobby
Dude, Wingo damn near one dude of the week. I mean, he's already been on a roll, dude, he was actually in the conversation, so.
Host 1
Hell, wait, do we have the gift? Please tell me we have it.
Gravis Vasquez
We.
Pooch
We'll post it. I think we posted.
Host 1
I used it this morning.
Pooch
Post it. We'll post it again. I mean, talk about iconic imagery. Yeah. Of a. Of a GIF that can be used for a lifetime.
Host 1
We can go shutting down the elbow room.
Pooch
We go just.
Wingo
Yeah.
Pooch
Carrying a hole through the elbow room.
Bobby
Hell of a week for Wingo. So shout out to Wingo there. Also, I do want to show some love to Hughes because he hit two game winners during that run. Also, dude, the moment itself is legendary. He did it with like 80% of his teeth missing. Like, dude, it's like you're missing 80% of a tooth and you're still out there just dominating. Like, dude, that's incredible. I wouldn't get on my damn couch if my tooth was messed up.
Host 1
Facts, facts, facts. No, and. And that the iconic image of him holding the flat like the flag on his back with his teeth, like, literally missing, it's just an all time photo, so.
Bobby
But yeah, legendary.
Host 1
What, what an episode, boys. And again, thank you all for tuning in. And yeah, everyone sign off. Enjoy the weekend. And yeah, this was guys being dudes. Later, everybody.
Gravis Vasquez
