What's up, man?
Ad Voice
Oh, no.
Travis
There's been a robbery.
Trapschapel
There has?
Travis
Yep. Where Grant Cardone was robbed.
Trapschapel
Was he.
Travis
He was robbed six days ago or maybe, I don't know. He was robbed at F1. Did you know that?
Trapschapel
No.
Travis
Really?
Trapschapel
I did not know that.
Travis
You're like such a big.
Trapschapel
He's actually robbed.
Travis
Yeah, he was robbed, like, physically, physically robbed at F1 in Miami. You didn't know that?
Trapschapel
I did not know that.
Travis
Wow. Here we go.
Eric (Producer)
If you ever go to an F1 in Miami, do not wear a watch that can unlatch easily.
Trapschapel
What was the watch?
Eric (Producer)
Was it a, you know, almost a million dollar watch? When people are trying to ex. Small, narrow place, they get all close and they put a big rush on. Like there's something violent happening in space. And at that time, one guy comes in, he lifts a watch.
Travis
Professionals, almost.
Eric (Producer)
Oh, total professionals. Now the professionals that are doing this have been hired by somebody else to do it. Really? So they target the guys and the specific watch.
Travis
Oh, this is the.
Eric (Producer)
So these guys are getting paid.
Travis
This guy's a glazer, this interviewer.
Trapschapel
Oh, I thought, you know what?
Ryan Reynolds
Really?
Trapschapel
I literally, I had the thought that this guy, like, works for the Cardones and just started.
Travis
You know who he is?
Trapschapel
No, I don't. That's why. That's my point is like, I couldn't see if he had his own podcast or something.
Travis
You've seen this?
Trapschapel
I didn't.
Travis
Or you just seen this guy? Oh, maybe.
Trapschapel
Let me see. I'm almost sure, though I don't want to. If it's the.
Ad Voice
If.
Trapschapel
If it's what I'm thinking, because what
Eric (Producer)
you said about 5,000. Here's the guy. Here's his picture. This is the watch. Take it. Whoa.
Trapschapel
Yeah.
Eric (Producer)
Okay, so it's A ring.
Trapschapel
Yeah, that was who I thought.
Eric (Producer)
Miami telling you guys, you picked this watch. This guy feels like whatever the number is. That watch then goes to the owner. That owner already has a buyer that. That watch is out of the country within 24. Oh, yeah.
Travis
Oh, this is a much bigger thing that.
Eric (Producer)
Oh, no. This is organized. Some idiot just.
Travis
Whoa.
Eric (Producer)
When you go to an F1 race, you're not allowed to sue. Really? At that ticket. You have to arbitrate. You cannot sue the company for damages. I didn't know this.
Trapschapel
There's nothing you could do.
Eric (Producer)
I think that day, they lost seven Richard Mille watches. Hate that. Yeah, I hate that loss because I felt so violated.
Travis
It's probably also because the watch is expensive. Yeah, it's probably feeling violated. And also that it was like a million dollars. There's probably mainly also.
Trapschapel
Have you guys not seen Focus?
Travis
No. Nobody watched that movie, dude.
Trapschapel
What?
Travis
Nobody wants that movie.
Trapschapel
It was a good movie.
Travis
Nobody watched that movie, dad.
Trapschapel
You didn't watch that movie.
Travis
All right, Anyway, I wanted to ask you.
Trapschapel
You didn't watch that movie?
Travis
No.
Trapschapel
Don't glaze over that.
Travis
I've never watched that. I know. Sorry. I'm always glazing.
Trapschapel
Don't gloss over that.
Travis
Anyway, that was a good movie. I wanted to ask you, because I've never asked you this before. Have you ever been robbed?
Trapschapel
I have.
Travis
You lived in Lancaster for so many years.
Trapschapel
Not like that. I've never been robbed on my person. I've been scammed a couple times.
Travis
When were you scammed?
Trapschapel
Like, when. When I was younger, I used to. Like, every time a new iPhone came out, I would flip my last iPhone on ebay so I could just upgrade to the new one, essentially for free.
Travis
Yeah.
Trapschapel
And there was one time I definitely got bamboozled by this guy who was buying it. He was in the. He was based in the States, but he had me ship it to his missionary friend in Africa.
Travis
You fool.
Trapschapel
Yeah, so the. When I figured out. When I figured it out, it was because I went to do a. What's that. What was it called? You go into the place?
Travis
Shopping Money?
Trapschapel
Moneygram?
Travis
Money laundering?
Trapschapel
No.
Travis
Oh, no. Yeah. Moneygram.
Trapschapel
Not really a Moneygram, but, yeah, Moneygram, I suppose. Yeah. I went into one of those places because they needed extra money for shipping. So I went. And I was like, oh, you know, I'll go in and send the money. And then the guy was like, hey, the guy saw it. He was like, this looks like fraud. You might want to check this out. And then. Yeah, I realized that my Phone was vanished into thin air. Luckily, he caught me. So I didn't pay the extra money that they're trying to get me to pay. But I was like 16 or something like that. And it was like, well, there goes 500 bucks, which is like half the money I have.
Travis
So we. We used to have to send money to India a lot. And so we'd wire. Like, it'd be me or the other guy, we'd wire money over. And every time I'd be in there, they'd be like, are you sure you've talked to these people? Are you sure that you've been there? And I'm like, I've literally been on the ground there. I know. And they're like, I don't know. I think you should really look into this. But I can't imagine how many people.
Trapschapel
I was gonna say, it's good that they do that.
Travis
Oh, dude. I saw a video the other day. It was like an old lady and she was like, at a crypto atm and she's like, crying on the phone. And because some guy's like, you need to send $80,000. You're going to prison or whatever. So she drained her savings account and was like, trying to send it. And this lady at the gas station called the police, and the olay wouldn't stop doing it. And so the police had to be like, stop, take a second. And like, we're trying to explain it, but she was like. She's like, you understand? They're going to arrest me. And the police are like, we're here. We're not arresting you.
Trapschapel
It's us.
Travis
Yeah, we're going to arrest you if you do this, you know? But, yeah, it's just crazy. Like, the. I can't imagine being just old and confused. And then people are like, go to this machine. And it sounds so legit.
Trapschapel
A friend of mine's grandpa got scammed for a good amount of money because they called them. Used my buddy's voice with AI.
Travis
Yeah.
Trapschapel
And said. Said basically like, I'm in prison and I need bail money. Don't tell mom and dad or anybody else is. I'm embarrassed. And his grandpa sent the money.
Travis
What did g though? What?
Trapschapel
Oh, yeah, they sent the money.
Ad Voice
Yeah.
Travis
My grandparents wrote a bailey, I'm calling right now.
Trapschapel
Sounds like you deserved it.
Travis
Anyway. So you've never been robbed physically? Like, had anything stolen? Have your house ever been broken into?
Trapschapel
When I was a kid, our house got broken into. Yeah.
Travis
What did they take?
Trapschapel
My mom had this curo cabinet with a bunch of just like collectibles and stuff. And my dad a bunch of silver coins in there and that's so cool.
Travis
That makes so much sense that he's like got a silver coin. Well, had a silver coin collection, yeah, I would say.
Trapschapel
But they pretty much took all of that and then immediately went and pawned it off.
Travis
Okay.
Trapschapel
But yeah, we did get broken into
Travis
when I was that in Lancaster. Yes, that also checks out.
Trapschapel
That also checks out.
Travis
Nothing is surprising.
Trapschapel
We were on the outskirts of Lancaster. So like it had to have been somebody who knew like, like an old cleaner or somebody who worked on the house or something like that because we were not in town. Like they would have. Like they work.

come out to our house, you know what I mean? Like on two acres, three miles outside of town. So yeah, it was. It was seemingly premeditated to some degree.
Travis
So yeah, I've seen some of your friends from Lancaster and they're all sketchy. Could like a suspect list is long.
Trapschapel
Well, to be. To be fair, a lot of people in Lancaster are sketchy.
Travis
So your friend.
Trapschapel
Yeah, my parents, you know, were constantly doing stuff in real estate and paying random contractors and you know, flooring people and roofers and a bunch of different people who would just come by the house for paychecks or whatever. So it was like maybe one of those shady characters. But yeah, we were robbed.
Travis
We were robbed. Were you? Yeah, last night. That's why it's fresh in my mind. That'd be crazy if I Came in here and just had robbed last three
Trapschapel
hours to tell me.
Travis
I'll wait till the third episode we recorded to drop it on you. When we lived in Beaumont, California, I'm technically still owed money from it, but I just didn't want to mess with it, you know, when, like, something happens and you're just like, I just don't want to have to send a letter to this court to contact them. They're never gonna pay it.
Trapschapel
So that in seven months, they'll release a check to $172.
Travis
It was $560, actually, I think is what it was. But I was just. I just don't want this. But we lived in an apartment, and we. The way the apartment was.
Trapschapel
This is when you were married or.
Travis
Yeah, we were married and had a child.
Trapschapel
Oh, wow.
Travis
Which is worse. So we were. We are married still and still have a child. But anyway, we were married. Had, like, a young. Young. Probably less than one, I would guess at the time. And no, probably like, two. I don't know. One or two. And so the way our apartment was is, like, we were on the upstairs floor, and then we had, like, a big sliding window, and then they had their door, and then we had. The neighbor on the other side had their door, and then we just had our door, and then this big sliding window, and that went into our bedroom. So our. It was a nice apartment. And anyway, we had, like, really nothing, but I came back from the store, and so I parked in front of the apartment, and then Tara was getting the baby out of the car, and I'm, like, unlocking the door upstairs and, like, taking a couple things in, and I walked inside. It was a total, like, brain flip. I was like, where'd you put our tv? I literally am, like, yelling down the stairs, babe, where'd you put the tv?
Trapschapel
What'd you do with the television?
Travis
Like, the entertainment center sitting there.
Trapschapel
You know how you typically put that in the closet?
Travis
Yeah. Where's the TV at? And she said, huh? Yeah. I said, the tv. Where'd you move it? You know, like an idiot. And then, like. And then my brain, like, clicked. I was like, I'm in danger. So. So then I'm, like, looking through. And then I noticed. I noticed our. So she had her wedding ring, had been in, like, this little cabinet thing and was gone.
Trapschapel
Bummer.
Travis
The. The TV was gone. And then I went in our bedroom, and the screen from our window was laying on our bed, but the window was shut, and there was handprints. At least he was Dumb too. Handprints all over the window and all this stuff. And I was like, wait a minute.
Trapschapel
I think.
Travis
I think this was not you. And so anyway, so basically we called the police. The old Jerry Seinfeldbet. We filled out the report. You know, basically like, we'll let you know if you're, you know, 25 inch TV and you're, you know, basically shows up. Yeah. And so I. I basically went full detective mode because that one thing that you're not going to do is rip me off. So anyway, so I was like. I started going through and I went into. I was like, first of all, I was like, it's my fucking neighbor. I know it. Because I didn't like him already. He's shady. Yeah. And so anyway, so I knew in my brain, but I didn't have any way to prove that. But I went to the pond. This is how smart I am. I was like, I know this guy's dumb because he touched all over my window. I bet you he went to the closest pawn shop right by.
Trapschapel
That's typically how it goes.
Travis
It was like three blocks away, there's a pawn shop. I went in and said, hey, I'm looking for a TV and a ring. And the guy said, can I just gimme one second. He goes to the back. He said, I can't give this to you because whatever. But he's like. He's like a guy that wasn't. You just sold this stuff to me. And then he showed me, he's like, is this yours? So. And then I had to buy it back, which was weird because he. Oh, I had to buy it back because he had paid for it. So I had to pay him the amount he paid for it back coverage. The dude sold everything for like 50 bucks. He sold it for so cheap. It was crazy.
Trapschapel
Some gas money.
Travis
So I got the stuff back. The police come by. The guy has video of the guy dropping the stuff off with it. It's my neighbor.
Trapschapel
Oh, really?
Travis
It is my neighbor. And he left handprints on the window, which. Martin. So here's the crazy part. Okay. I tell my apartment manager. I said, hey, just so you know, your tenant, our neighbor just robbed us. She said, I can't really do anything about it at all because he didn't. Something like. Basically like he didn't violate his police
Trapschapel
agreement in terms of. Yeah, so he was stealing that so he could pay rent.
Travis
So you could. And you could verify with Tara. I want to say it was probably five months that like, I would just see the dude he's still living next to us. He broke our window screen down and climbed over my bed and stole my stuff. And I'm, like, living next door to him.
Trapschapel
That's hilarious.
Travis
And so I called the police. Like, you know. You know how it is with cops. You keep calling, keep calling. And I literally called. I was like, if you guys need help finding him. Yeah, yeah, he lives next door.
Trapschapel
I happen to know where he lives.
Travis
So I finally called the police. This is a couple months later, and we're already, like, looking to move and all this stuff. And I was like, are you guys going to arrest this guy or what? Like, what do you guys do? And the cops. Like, the one cop I finally called was like, oh, I just looked it up. Like, they've had a warrant to arrest him since that happened.
Trapschapel
Crazy.
Travis
They just haven't done it right. And he's like, do you want me to come now? I was like, yeah, fucking come now. So anyway, so they.
Trapschapel
Thursday is better for me, actually.
Travis
Yeah. So they. So anyway, so I was kind of upset because I was in somewhere in, like, LA or somewhere shooting something, and I didn't get to be there when they arrest him. Which is, like, the one thing you want. You wanna, like. I wanna see him be like, yeah, spit on him, you know? And so Tara's, like, on the phone with me, and she's like, oh, they just pulled up. Oh, they're just. I'm like, yeah, arrest him. And then, like, he was out on bail, like, the next day, and then back in the apartment, and they're like. And I was like, hey, he's been arrested. Now can you guys evict him? Okay, so we moved. I think we moved maybe three months after they arrested him. And then they're like, you can get your $500 of damage because one of the TV, he had two TVs, and he took one of them and smashed them and then threw it in the dumpster. Anyway. They're like, you can get like, 500 bucks. Never messed with it. Here's the crazy thing. So this guy literally robbed an apartment. Breaking, entering. We moved away. I had police documents. I gave to the landlord. Like, hey, summer routines.
Ad Voice

Travis
So we moved away. We came back to visit. And I don't know if you're like this. Whenever I go back, I drive past
Trapschapel
all the places, go through nostalgia Lane.
Travis
And so I drove past our place. He's still living there.
Trapschapel
Crazy.
Travis
It's crazy. So anyway, that's my robbery story.
Trapschapel
So we actually had something similar.
Travis
Oh, but earlier you say you didn't.
Trapschapel
When we first got married, we were moving into our apartment for the first time, and I was taking, like, truckloads back from, you know, my bedroom growing up, and my buddy Andy was with me, and so that's who I would
Travis
have thought had stolen all your parents stuff.
Eric (Producer)
He.
Trapschapel
He actually got jumped when. When he. When he was like, rollerblading. Rollerblading through Lancaster, you know what jumped him and stole his Walkman.
Travis
Understandable.
Ad Voice
Yeah.
Travis
You're rollerblading, you're gonna get Lancaster.
Trapschapel
But anyway, he drove to the apartment and was helping me, right? So we're taking loads back with the truck, and so he parked his car at the apartment. So we're driving the truck by the apartment, and we're like, driving by, and we're like. I was like, is that your car? And there's these two 80s. One of them is, like, all the way in the car, like, knees on the passenger seat, ass out the window. Like her head is on the driver's seat, like she's fully in the car. And the other one's standing right next to her on lookout, essentially. And so Andy jumps out of the car and, like, runs over or jumps out of the truck, runs over to his car, was like, what are you doing? And then they had this excuse about, like, well, we. This car has been here for a long time, and it's not supposed to be parked here. So we were just trying to see who owned it so that we could get it back to them or whatever that Samaritans. It's been here for, like, three hours. What are you talking about? This is crazy. They lived in the apartment two doors down from us. So they were just neighbors of ours
Travis
for the next, like, walking in the neighborhood.
Trapschapel
Yeah, exactly. It was. It was wild because we were getting attacked. They started, like, turning the tables on us and calling us, like, rude and all these other things and saying that we were racist because we were upset
Travis
at them for being inside of the car.
Trapschapel
And they stole stuff from his car. It was nothing, but they stole stuff. They took all the electronics that he had in his car. There was like a pack of Gatorade that they took. And just like you literally were robbing my friend in broad daylight the day that we're moving into the apartment right next door to you. Like, this is going to be a fun relationship.
Travis
Well, what's funny is I had had because we had like a outdoor parking lot, obviously to the apartment. And like a few months before that, I thought I had lost one of my credit cards. Cause I got all these weird charges. And I was retroactively like, oh, he went in the car and grabbed my credit card and used it. And then I had to change up a big full change jar in there. And I was like, it feels like it keeps getting lighter, but it's just like, again, you just assume like, oh, I lost something. I did this. And then after that happened, I was like, oh, that's the source of all my problems. You know, he also dinged our car too, and scratched left red paint on it. It was just a great time. They're leasing that apartment I was in if anybody wants that. Here's one last crazy story. Robbery story. I was in New Mexico with mutual friend of ours who does real estate investing. And we parked outside and okay, well, this was a very innocent thing for us. So we drive by and there's a car on. There's a car sitting there, and it's kind of like jacked up a little bit. And then there was like a older and younger ish guys. And I literally was like, oh, that's nice. I was like, he's helping him fix his car. And so we drive by and then we come back, it's on blocks with no. No tires, no anything, stripped clean. And I was like, dude, we just watched a crime. We're literally like, hey, like, it's a father son duo, you know? So it was so funny because we literally went from one. It was a super rough apartment complex.
Trapschapel
Oh, man.
Travis
We literally drive by and I'm like, oh, that's nice. Like you said, literally said, oh, well, that's nice. Like I'm from the Midwest going like, oh, look at that. And then we drive back that way. It's on blocks. No tires, no thing. And I was like, we could have stopped a crime. Yeah, but also we probably would have been shot, so it's good. Or stabbed with a needle.
Trapschapel
Exactly.
Travis
That was the Same apartment that had a. There was a window and it had a cutout in the screen. He's like, oh, people drive up and someone hands them drugs through the window. I was like, sweet. What time are they.
Trapschapel
Are they open?
Travis
Just kidding. I don't do drugs. If I did, I wouldn't tell you.
Trapschapel
Crazy. No.
Travis
Anyway, yeah, don't do drugs and drive.
Ad Voice
Or.
Eric (Producer)
Yeah.
Travis
Or don't do drugs. Yeah, don't do drugs.
Trapschapel
Probably just the.
Travis
But if you're going to do drugs, do it in the safety of your own home.
Trapschapel
Yeah.
Travis
And don't drive and just don't do it.
Trapschapel
And don't get robbed, I think.
Travis
Don't get robbed. I don't know.
Ad Voice
I.
Travis
Honestly, I just. I was. I saw Grant's video and I was like, I wonder if Travis has ever been robbed. Robbed. Because that's not a good way to keep your money. It is not to be robbed.
Trapschapel
No, no. Unfortunately, you know, I. AI has been useful for me in that regard because, you know, like, you get these random texts or calls from people that are like, it's like a toll road or something, or an attorney, and it's just like, oh, you have to go to this thing and enter your information. And like, there's been a couple times where it looked really legit.
Travis
And so the toll road ones, some of them I'm like, I was just in Tennessee.
Trapschapel
Right, Exactly.
Travis
But I don't think I passed any Torah.
Trapschapel
So now my rule of thumb is anytime I get a message like that, I copy paste it into ChatGPT or something like that and ask it, you know, like, does this seem legit to you? And we'll always break it down and be like, nope, this is a red flag. This is a red flag. This is a red flag.
Travis
That's great. Till.
Trapschapel
Or there's been one time where it was like, this is actually from this person.
Travis
It's great. Till it's wrong. And then you send jail. Or. Yeah, you don't send the money. And then you're like, you didn't pay your toll for years.
Trapschapel
There's a warrant for your arrest in California.
Travis
Yeah, whatever. We're not going back there.
Trapschapel
Yeah, screw that place.
Travis
Not ever since Spencer Pratt's not in the run anymore, I'm never going back.
Trapschapel
Totally. Except for, like, next week. I'll probably go back.
Travis
Yeah, next week. Really?
Trapschapel
Yeah, I think two weeks. I'll go in San Diego. Okay.
Travis
Fun. Okay, cool.
Trapschapel
Anyway. Anyway, if you have any. If you have any fun robbery stories, share them with me on Instagram at Trapschapel and we'll talk about on a future episode. That's it for this episode of the show. If you're going to go to F1 in Miami, just, you know, don't wear your million dollar watches. And remember, money only solves your money problems. But it's easier to solve the rest of your problems with money in the bank. So let's start there here on the Travis Makes Money podcast. Thanks for tuning in. Catch you next time. Peace.
