I oh, let's go. I oh, let's go. You're listening to the Travis Makes Money podcast presented by gohighlevel.com for a free 30 day trial of the best all in one digital marketing software tool on the planet, just go to gohighlevel.com travis. What's going on, everybody? Welcome back to the Travis Makes Money podcast where it's a mission to help you make more money on this episode of the show. My producer Eric is in studio. What's up, Eric?
Eric
Hey, Travis. Hey, how are you there, matey? I feel like. Feel like the pirate from spongebob. What's his name?
Travis
Yeah, but why do you feel like that?
Eric
I don't know. Because I'm hungry and I want to go steal food from a ship. I need it anyway. Remember a couple months ago when we tried the Big arch?
Travis
Yeah, the McDonald's burger.
Eric
Yeah, the McDonald's burger. I'm not referring to a sexual position known as the big arch. I don't know if there is one called that. Anyway, the McDonald's burger. And we were laughing at the CEO of the McDonald's trying the burger and not looking like he was a fan.
Travis
Yeah.
Eric
And then I also showed you a clip from the Burger King's president where he ate the burger so good. Like he was like, did a good job eating a burger.
Travis
Yeah, yeah.
Eric
Crazy thing to not do that. He actually liked it. But I was just. We were in between episodes, so this could be a three minute episode. But I saw a clip or a post. What's it called? On social media. The thing people peruse a post on social media and from bro Bible.
Travis
Okay.
Eric
It's the only bible you read. And it says, burger King's president reveals the one item on its menu he won't order. Two things come to mind. One, that's a great hook. And it immediately made me stop my scroll and I want to know what it is. Two, I feel like Burger King's president should just be the Burger King. Like, if you run, I think instead of a CEO or president, the guy who runs Burger King should be like the Burger King. So when they have an issue at Burger King, they can be like, take it to the top. Take it to the King.
Travis
Yeah.
Eric
And they walk into a big throne
Travis
room, issues a royal decree.
Eric
You know the throne room in Last Jedi?
Travis
Yeah.
Eric
I want the king sitting there.
Travis
Yeah, yeah.
Eric
And then he's like, I'm actually on board for this. What shouldn't they call? Can you legally call it that?
Travis
Totally. Nothing says you have to call CEO.
Eric
I feel like the Burger King's president should be the king.
Travis
Agreed.
Eric
Okay. So anyway, during a recent interview with the New York Post, he acknowledged he sympathized with critics while admitting he avoids this menu item. Travis, if you had to guess, what menu item do you think the Burger King president himself will not stoop so low as to consume? I can't believe I got that whole sentence out without stumbling, but I just ruined the aura about that.
Travis
I'm going to guess the Whopper.
Eric
No, that's like their most iconic thing. Of course he eats that.
Travis
Okay.
Eric
I don't think you can be the CEO.
Travis
I'm not super familiar with Burger King's menu, to be honest.
Eric
It's a pretty chicken sandwich. Nope.
Travis
Double cheeseburger.
Eric
No. I love these segments. We do.
Travis
It's definitely not chicken fries. That's the best thing that's ever come out of the fries.
Eric
That is so good. It's their chicken nuggets.
Travis
Okay.
Eric
He sympathized with critics. He says, we can do better and we will. Look at that. This guy's the best.
Travis
Good for him.
Eric
I love him. We can do better, and we will. I want a meatier, crispier nugget and sauces that make my taste buds dance. He's a poet, too. He's a poet. Let me read that again, because, first of all, I still haven't eaten today. Yeah. Yeah. And this sounds so good.
Travis
Same.
Eric
Nothing sounds better than a meatier, crispier nugget and sauces that make my taste buds dance. He says the team is on it.
Travis
The team is on it.
Eric
Still corporate.
Travis
Yeah, but so it feels like there should be a court jester in there.
Eric
Well, that's McDonald's with their clown.
Travis
Yeah.
Eric
Bunch of clowns.
Travis
Stupid worm.
Eric
The Big Arch burger was good, though, actually. And I've never eaten a Whopper that tastes as good as a McDonald's burger.
Travis
Is that true? But I'm not sure I've ever had a Whopper. I always got the double cheeseburger.
Commercial Narrator
You know what?
Travis
I would get a double cheeseburger and chicken fries. Cause you gotta have the chicken fries.
Eric
Well, when. So you know what? I used to never get burgers at Burger King. I always liked their chicken Nuggets. And so the reason I started getting it was when I worked in Fresno, this lad I used to work with, we would go to Burger King, and he would always say, I want a Whopper off the grill.
Travis
What does that mean?
Eric
He would always say, off the grill. And he told me. And it is true, because I've ordered it both ways. It's better if you get a. You. If you get a. Do some of the microwaves instead of doing the warming tray where they have Whoppers.
Travis
Oh.
Eric
You get a freshly cooked piping hot patty. At Burger King, you simply ask for your burger to be hot off the broiler. This tells the kitchen to cook a new patty on the flame broiler instead of using one that's been sitting in a warming tray. And it is actually usually a fresher, juicier burger.
Travis
Yeah, that makes sense.
Eric
Can I tell you something?
Travis
Sitting on a warmer, Can I tell you.
Eric
Oh, and I love that it gives instructions. It says, politely tell the cashier or speaker box. Can I please get my Whopper hot off the broiler? Can I tell you something embarrassing about myself and all the people listening?
Travis
This is the time to do it.
Eric
So I don't use AI I don't even know what it's called. I. A. It's like a Baptist. It's like Baptist pastors when they're talking about rock bands, and they're like, what is it? The throwing crowns or the casting kings? What are they called? Chris Thompson or whatever his name is. And then they sing a version of his song piano. Anyway, this IA Or AI Whatever it's called, I don't use it for a lot, but recently I've had to make a lot of phone calls to doctors or I make phone calls to different companies and stuff. And I get very nervous getting on the phone with people.
Travis
Interesting.
Eric
I get very anxious, and I literally will leave my apartment so nobody can hear me on the phone. And I walk a long distance to just be away. And the other day I had to call somebody, and I felt just so nervous about it. And I asked, how should I word what I'm gonna say to them? And then I said, depend. Give me different ways they could respond to this. And it gave me very.
Travis
It's like a script.
Eric
Yeah, yeah, yeah. And I was like, it helps me. Cause I was like, what? How? I don't remember. Maybe it wasn't that. It was something. And I was worried they were gonna feel like that it was gonna become antagonistic. Maybe it was you. I was on the phone no, but I used it to be like, how can I say this in a way that doesn't sound like aggressive, you know? I don't know.
Travis
Yeah.
Eric
I don't know. Is that. That's just a story.
Travis
That's just an aside.
Eric
That's just something I wanted to tell you.
Travis
Anyway, Burger King.
Eric
Anyway. Fresh off the grill. The broiler.
Travis
Yeah.
Eric
Is that. And he taught me that. And then I started eating the Whoppers and they were really good though.

Eric
So if you ever do try a Whopper. So here we go, full circle. We're going to bring it in. If you ever go to Burger King and you want to get a Whopper, ask for it off the broiler. You're welcome.
Travis
Thank you. Next time I go to Burger King, I'll keep that in mind.
Eric
Okay. All right then, chief. Now I just mentioned that with the chicken, we're going to circle back to this.
Travis
Yeah.
Eric
We're going to call this the circle back episode.
Travis
Okay, Put a pin in that.
Eric
But I. Oh, my God. They just announced a new offer. That looks good.
Travis
Just done. The Burger King rabbit hole.
Eric
I'm so hungry. So I'm down so many pounds. No. So I was looking up the New York Post article to read some more from him, but just in time for summer. My mouth is watering. The new loaded jalapeno Whopper is beefed up with 4.4 ounces of 100% flame grilled meat and crowned with crispy pickled jalapenos and creamy jalapeno sauce, lettuce, juicy tomatoes and American cheese. My mouths are water, bro. I love jalapenos, so that kills me. But I was going to ask you, what do you think the Go to for the boss at Burger King is. What do you think the boss at the president of Burger King, what do you think his go to order is?
Travis
A Whopper. French fries, A Coke.
Eric
The boss's favorite, however, is crafted around simplicity. He told the Post. The classic Whopper with all the fixins.
Travis
All the fixins.
Eric
Fixins. Have you ever seen that from the Dan McBride blooper. Stay on target, Travis. Stay on target.
Travis
We have to just upload that as a sound.
Eric
Stay on target.
Travis
Stay on target.
Eric
Oh, we should. Speaking of which version of now I want to talk about Star Wars. That's a good Star Wars.
Travis
Again, that is after I watch Star Trek.
Eric
Hold on, wait.
Travis
Just the Chris Pine ones.
Eric
Okay, Wait, actually, let's put stay on target on the.
Travis
That would actually be.
Eric
Because that would be fun to deploy on each other, you know?
Travis
You know what else I thought we should put on the board recently?
Eric
Shoot.
Travis
Do you ever watch any of Tim Robinson's sketch show? Do you see the. The Driving Crooner? No one in there.
Eric
He says, you're doing what I do now.
Travis
Yeah, I know.
Eric
It's because we're both malnourished right now. This is actually one. But he goes, you ever feel like, bad for Joanna to edit these?
Travis
Oh, no, no. She's got it.
Eric
She's sleep. She's literally just got on 2x, like, get me through this now.
Travis
But he. In that. In that episode, he's like screams at the camera like he usually does, and he goes, I gotta figure out how to make money.
Eric
Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Travis
It's just too good.
Eric
Oh, we gotta.
Travis
I just felt like that would be perfect.
Eric
I did. I think I did one Creature Boys one time and it was a pastor.
Travis
Oh, yeah, yeah.
Eric
Actually, maybe I did that or I shared it. Gotta make money. Those are good. We do need to populate the soundboard. Yeah, I think that would be great.
Travis
Instead of like these, you know, preloaded.
Eric
I'm so hungry. Oh, my God. Do you think it's crazy, though, for the president of a restaurant to say, we're not there yet with our food?
Travis
No.
Eric
Or does that like. Does that make you go, like, if the president doesn't even want to eat that, that makes you feel weird? Or does it make you feel more trust in the company?
Travis
It makes me feel more trust in the company.
Eric
And should we order Whoppers right now?
Travis
And most importantly, would you eat a Whopper right now? No. No.
Eric
Okay. I didn't ask. Do you need to. I ask, would you tear one up right now? If I had One here. No, the Jalapeno Whopper would.
Travis
I want to absol. It sounds fantastic.
Eric
How many calories is in it? Go ahead and talk about stuff and then I'm gonna look it up.
Travis
My guess is like 1200.
Eric
Take over the show for a minute.
Travis
What?
Eric
Take the reins real quick.
Travis
Well, you interrupted me when I was saying something.
Eric
Go ahead then. See, finish it.
Travis
I don't remember what it was. Oh, the pro. Yeah. No, I don't. I think that increases trust in the company. The like willingness to come out and be.
Eric
Because I was very surprised to see
Travis
that this, our chicken needs improvement. And we. It's not. He's not just saying like, yeah, our chicken sucks. It is what it is. He's saying like our chicken nuggets need to be better and they're going to be better. Okay. And the vibe is that he genuinely cares about the product and likes the product as the CEO, which you, you know, kind of hope for. Which was what the McDonald's CEO got so much flack for about the Big arch. It just looked like it was the first time he's ever eaten a McDonald's burger. Clearly not with the Burger King guy though.
Eric
Dude, I'm so hungry. But listen, a standard loaded Jalapeno Whopper from burger king contains 820 calories.
Travis
Okay.
Eric
Not bad. Actually, I thought it was gonna be way more. If you're looking for variations, that is more. The Double Jalapeno Whopper. The Double jalapeno Whopper has 980 calories. And the smaller loaded jalapeno Whopper Jr. Which I can get for you if you wanna do smaller, 410 calories. But here's the interesting thing to me. So I'm always looking for more protein. I had drool in my beard. I just touched my beard and I was drooling. The loaded Jalapeno Whopper has 820 calories, 38 grams of protein.
Travis
Okay.
Eric
Okay. We don't need to worry about the milligrams of sodium. How much sodium do you think is in this?
Travis
This just ripped my brain up like 1400 milligrams.
Eric
1680. That's. Dude, honestly. So I was tracking calories like crazy and now I feel like I just know my routine of things that I'm eating. But sodium's the hardest thing not to go over on of everything in the diet. Do you find that to be the case or do you just don't care? You're like, ah, whatever. Kidney stones, bring em on.
Travis
Yeah, I haven't really found that to be a big issue. But I will say, though, that's why I've cut back on my LMNT subscriptions. Cause I was looking at a couple videos recently that was just like. Yeah. I mean, if you are like a, you know, like Aurora.
Eric
Yeah. Yeah.
Travis
Like, yeah. You'll probably need more sodium.
Eric
Oh, dude. Thousand milligrams of sodium in one element electrolyte pack. Well, Red Bull has a lot of sodium.
Travis
Does it?
Eric
Because I think that was one of the things I was like, oh, dang, I'm way over red bull. Sodium, 140 milligrams of sodium.
Travis
Yeah. It's like the only nutrient that the vast majority of the population gets too much of.
Eric
Well, salt, dude.
Travis
Yeah.
Eric
Anyway, so the Whopper, though, if you want some good protein, I mean, that's
Travis
not good protein, but it's.
Eric
If you want a good amount.
Travis
The best protein is terrible in terms of calorie to protein ratio.
Eric
The best burger is the protein house burger.
Travis
What?
Eric
Protein House's burger.
Travis
Oh. Oh, oh, yeah. Well, that's true, because that's.
Eric
That's so good, dude.
Travis
An actually healthy dude.
Eric
I'm so. I'm so hungry. Sorry. So, anyway, so you think it's okay for him to talk about the deficit of quality?
Travis
Yeah, I think so. Now, that's with the intention to fix it. Like I said, it'd be weird if he was just, like, randomly caught on a podcast being like, oh, yeah, I wouldn't go near on nuggets.
Eric
Yeah.
Travis
And then not do. But like, in a press release with an article where he's like, we know this is a weakness of ours, and we're working to fix it because we want to make it better.
Eric
I felt like a fool when I read it because I was like, I eat the nuggets all the time.
Commercial Narrator
Really?
Eric
What does he know that I.

Eric
No, no, but no, I was going to.
Travis
It's a wild choice to choose their nuggets over their chicken fries, though.
Eric
No, no, no. I always pick that first.
Travis
Okay.
Eric
They're. Yeah. And then when they did the spicy ones for a while. Oh, my God, dude, I'm so hungry. Anyway. No, in business in general, though, how much? Because this always comes up in the document they'll create is like, well, what happens when things are bad, you know, like. Because there is a part of business where, like, you don't want to show that you're bleeding.
Travis
Yeah.
Eric
Like, you don't like. Because my number one thing I hate Perception Matters. I always talk. I always talk to Tara about is like, I hate sympathy marketing. Where, like, I see a lot of authors do this. Where they'll go, I had a book signing and no one came. Yeah. Or. And a lot of times I think it's not even true. I think they take it like, when they're setting up, like, it'll be like their husband filming them and they're like, alone or their wife filming them and they're alone. And like, he brought all his books and nobody came to his signing. I'm like, first of all, that really happened. That's so sad to post that.
Travis
Yeah, yeah. But like, please buy my book.
Commercial Narrator
Yeah.
Eric
So, like, I don't like the sympathy marketing, but also, like, I think there's room to be like, yeah, we tried this thing. It's not working. And like, where do you think the balance is of, like, being transparent versus being, like, too transparent, where you're, like, showing. You're showing warts in your business that, like, might not be the best thing to show?
Travis
I just don't think it has to be a part of your marketing.
Eric
Well, but I'm saying, like, in terms of, like, if you're running a company and you're sharing content about it, like, like all these CEOs are trying to get into the game right now of, like, being front facing in a big way. So, like, the McDonald's guy's, like, talking about all these, like, positive, like, here's how I'm using AI to optimize my day. And here's my favorite thing at the restaurant.
Travis
Yeah.
Eric
And then you got Burger King guy doing interviews going. Yeah, our nuggets aren't there yet. We're working on it. And it's like, you know, do you think there should be a balance there of, like, how much you talk about negative and positive and Yeah.
Travis
I mean, you shouldn't. It shouldn't be your entire content strategy. Like, it should be little morsels here and there of just transparency. And is it something that has to be addressed or something that doesn't have to be addressed? Like, is it a, you know, Ebola outbreak, like Chipotle, you know, like. Or something like that where it's like, well, you kind of have to say something about this versus just, like, you know, letting the public in on internal issues that are happening. So I think it's useful and helpful to share those things, but definitely in the right context and not too much of it, you know, because I think people understand that things don't always go well.
Eric
Yeah.
Travis
You know what I mean? Like. Like Mr. Beast coming out and talking about Beast Burger and.
Eric
Yeah.
Travis
Like, oh, yeah, we tried that. It didn't work.
Eric
Suing the company that was running. Yeah.
Travis
So, you know, and that's Mr. Beast. Like, you'd think anything that he does works, you know, and clearly that wasn't the case. And so for him to just come out. Yeah, that didn't work. So we're all in on Feastables, you know, and then crushed it with Feastables.
Eric
I love Feastables, dude.
Travis
They're really good.
Eric
I'm going to be honest.
Travis
The new. The new version of the chocolate bars are really good.
Eric
I. That. That's, like, the one thing that tempts me now when I go to movies is I look over and they have the Feastables layout now.
Travis
Yeah.
Eric
And do the. Like, they did the Cosmic Crunch or whatever for Mar. And then their Crunch Bar. I love Crunch bars. That's my favorite candy if I'm gonna eat candy. And the Beast Crunch knockoff is. He doesn't like it being marketed that way. Oh, it's the Crunch. The Crunch Bar knockoff.
Travis
That's the Reese's Knockoff.
Eric
I always remember that Christian comedian growing up, and he's like, I do 100 crunches a day. They're great. They're made by Nestle. I got this pony. I'm making it, doing crunches. He talked like that. Okay. And. But anyway, Mr. Beast bars are legitimately good. And I hate to be, like, cliche, like, oh, Mr. Beast did something good. But.
Travis
But I think that's a good example, though, of, like, tried something, didn't work. We talked about it. Now let's move on to the next thing, you know, versus Right. Like, it feels different to me when it's like, the author with the signing. It's like you're trying to get people to buy something out of pity, which is just not going to work. I actually learned that lesson early on in door to door days because I
Eric
would just like, try, ma', am, buy something I can't eat.
Travis
I would try. I would just try stuff from, from time to time that are just like, see if this works. And I tried several times.
Eric
Did you ever try crying? Like when you, like when you get pulled over to get a ticket and you're like, please, officer.
Sponsor Voice
You're like.
Eric
You're like, dude, you're considered solar.
Travis
Whenever I, whenever I get pulled over, I'm so filled with rage that I can't force a tear out.
Eric
His hands are shaking.
Travis
So upset. But yeah, I tried. I tried that a few times door to door and realized very quickly it doesn't work. Yeah, you know, like you can't guilt people into being like, please, I can. I just. I need to hit a bonus. And you know, like, that desperation energy is not what. Is not what seals the deal.
Eric
No.
Travis
You know what I mean? It might push somebody over the line every once in a while.
Eric
Well, that was always your approach when you were on the dating scene is like you were always just reeked of
Travis
desperation back when I was on the dating scene.
Eric
You were 13. Anyway, well, just to put a bow on this conversation, the Muscle builder burger at protein house has 84 grams of protein and only 892 calories.
Travis
See, that's a good burger right there.
Eric
It is. It's delicious. We should order one right now. Anyway, I'm hungry. I'm gonna go eat. Well, let's wrap up this episode.
Travis
The best fast food version of protein though is Chipotle's cups.
Eric
Oh my God, dude. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Travis
Those are fire. Yeah, had that yesterday actually, with a little hot sauce. Anyway, that's it for this episode of the show. As we're both starving.
Eric
My stomach feels like a gaping.
Travis
It is five o' clock and neither one of us have eaten anything today. Oh, wait, 5:00pm Wait, I did that clarify.
Eric
I had a peanut butter bar this morning.
Travis
Wow, so you've been lying this whole time.
Eric
That definitely filled me up.
Travis
Yeah, I had a protein shake after the gym, so I guess I was also lying. Anyway, that's it for this episode of the show.
