Because that's the opposite of the truth. See, I feel like this. Okay, I. Okay, I feel like I can't think of a scenario where I go, I'm gonna go get a massage in, like, in Nevada.

Unless you're in a different country.

I'm just gonna be like, I don't think on a Tuesday. I'm gonna be like, hold on. I think I'll be home for dinner at 6. I have a massage at 5. That's weird. That's weird.

Well, to be fair, I got a gift card from my mother that's great for Father's Day a few months ago, and it's just been sitting on the counter. And we. Kid's Day first day back at school today. So it was like, Eric's not gonna be here for a couple hours. He don't have anything on the calendar. Perfect time to use this gift card.

[Eric]

Well, the reason I haven't. Okay, here's the reason I haven't. Because I never even thought about getting a massage until the first time I traveled or second time I traveled internationally. And the worst thing about traveling internationally is you're on a flight for, like, you can be up to, like, 20 hours of just flying time, and your back is just destroyed. And one of the guys I was traveling with was like, yeah, this is why I always get massages after I fly. So what started is, like, every time I would travel internationally, the last day of the trip, I would get a massage to basically make my back feel as amazing as possible before I sit down for, like, 20 hours. But the thing is, now is, like, I'm not doing anything where I feel Like, I justify, like, oh, I earned a massage. I just flew for 20 hours. See, I can't feel like I earned a massage just, like, sitting around my.

Another reason again, but another reason again that I did it today was that I worked out pretty hard yesterday. For the first time in a few weeks.

I have an idea.

And I was hella sore this morning.

[Eric]

Yeah, first time in a long time you've worked out.

Because you've been quite a while. Flubby. Yeah, a little flubby. Next time that I do an intensive editing session here, you should bring a masseuse to do my back while I'm editing.

Anyway, so it's not that weird. That's what. That's like, the thing in my mind where I go, like, I'm gonna get a massage. I'm flying back that day. So I've got a massage.

I mean, I guess, but it is still weird.

It's weird that it's something that, like, to me would make more sense if you were like, I've never gotten a massage. I'd be like, okay, that's. That's a way to live your life. But then, like, in the United States, I've never gotten one in the USA

or in the countries of any of our allies. Never in Europe.

Never exclusively. Wait till you're in.

[Eric]

No, no, I just. I. Yeah. Communist China. That's the only place. No, I. I think it makes sense. The thing is, I think it would be weird if I refused you.

If I refused to ever get a massage in the United States. That's weird. The thing is, it's just happened to have been this way.

Yeah. I literally was, like, walking out the door, and she was like, well, hang on, hang on. You forgot to tip. I was like, oh, are tips required? And she was like, yeah, I told

you about that, right?

[Travis]

I was like, okay, I guess I'll give you some extra money.

[Eric]

I told you that when I was in Peru, right? No, I got a massage. And it was. Cause it was my birthday, and it was the last leg of the trip. And so the guys that I was traveling with were like, hey, we paid for you to get a massage, or we scheduled a massage or whatever. Paid for it, and you can go. It was like. I think it was like, 7pm Not $7. And then so I went and got a massage, and Peru's the only place I've been to where, like, I felt like knowing English helped me not at all.

Oh, really?

[Eric]

Like, there. Because most places you go, you feel like you got it made, because there's, like, English signs everywhere. There's, like, Costa Rica. Feels like I'm in Florida. You know what I mean? It's all chill. Peru was like, I had the Google Translate apps on, like, scanning every sign. Like, the people at the hotel didn't speak English.

Yeah.

[Eric]

Like, it was. It was locked down in just non English everywhere. And I went and got a massage. And then after, I'm trying to leave, and they're like, no, no, no, no, no. And I'm like, what? And then I'm, like, trying to communicate that it's already paid for. I'm using the translator. They're reading the translation, giving the look like it's not translating correctly. And so literally, I can feel my back just, like, contorting back into this, like, horrible fossilized State it was in. And it took, like, literally 30 minutes of just going back and forth. Then they're like, come with me. And then we walked to the hotel.

So they're asking for a tip?

[Eric]

No, they're asking for the payment, and they didn't realize that it was paid for. Then we go to the lobby. The lobby's finally like, oh, yeah, good. Okay. Well, that just undid all of the good things about this. Yeah, but I hate. I hate transacting. I want to spend the money, and it's gone before.

[Travis]

I agree.

[Eric]

It's kind of like. It's kind of like when you go to a restaurant and you get a lot of really good food and then you see the bill. Wouldn't it be nice if you could just be like, I'm going to order the steak and this and this. Pay. And then by the time you finish the meal, you're like, I was basically free. It's out of my mind. That's the best way to do purchases is like, pretend you don't know the money's disappeared.

No, obviously he's being facetious here. Apparently, I have to cancel some Amazon orders. Isn't that the worst? When you order a plethora of things and you happen to not be home when it's arriving, but your spouse is.

Why? Because you don't want.

And they know, like, you went crazy and bought stuff you don't like. I just ordered a copy of the Odyssey and it just got there.

[Travis]

Oh, really?

[Eric]

Right then. And she's like, is this a necessity? I said, I gotta go. I gotta go. No, I ordered the horse from the movie. The Fake Horse. Yeah, we're gonna live in that now.

[Travis]

Looked pretty comfy.

[Eric]

I bet you that's going to be Airbnb in another, like two.

[Travis]

Yeah.

[Eric]

Anyway, no, I watched. Obviously he's being facetious here, but I want to ask you, there are some purchases that make you way happier.

[Travis]

Oh, totally.

[Eric]

What's the biggest increase in happiness you've had from a singular purchase?

[Travis]

Probably our car recently. Yeah. Because I got Jackie that Lexus for Christmas and we. Because, like, the backstory, the reason that I feel like it was that much happier than any other purchase that we made is that we put it off for a really long time. Like, we could have bought a nice car when we were in our, like, early 20s, you know, like, we started making pretty good money pretty quickly. Like six figures enough to buy a nice vehicle.

[Eric]

Yeah.

[Travis]

And we just never did. We just always, like, were putting money in other places and stuff like that.

[Eric]

You did, but that's a. For about a week.

[Travis]

That's right.

[Eric]

But that's a whole nother story.

[Travis]

Yeah, but that wasn't that, that was a nicer vehicle, but that was still like a 35,000-year-old used truck. You know what I mean? So it was the nicest vehicle that we had at that time, but it wasn't anything like, you know, a new Lexus suv. So we, we just put that purchase off for a really long time and we sort of forced our hand like we were going to have to buy something else because our car, car was kind of crapping out on us and kept going in the shop and stuff. And so, yeah, ended up just making the decision to get a nice vehicle this time. And it's been great, man. Like, honestly, like, it's been, I, I, I legit. When, when I was at the dealership, like buying the car, I was in my mind, like trying to fend off buyer's remorse because anytime I've ever made a big purchase in my life, I've always had immediate buyers remorse because I'm like, I didn't have to buy that. I could have bought, been smarter with that money.

It's always a good sign when you're feeling it while you're signing the paperwork.

Well, I was trying to, like, stave it off, you know what I mean? I was trying to like, tell my, like, you know, go through the reasons and the justification and then surprisingly, it just like it never came. You feel buyer's remorse the minute.

Well, that one was more of a necessity because we had to buy something to handle the footage from that project we were editing.

But is there anything that's like a minor.

[Travis]

thing other than the call would improve anybody's life. Like, hey, open Amazon right now and order this thing. So I'll help you.

[Travis]

No, not really. I mean, because everybody's got different preferences. But I like my. Besides the car that we bought, every other time in my life that that has happened, it's been through an experience or a trip or traveling or something. Like, that it's almost never been buying things. You know what I mean? So, like, the vast majority of all other purchases that have ever brought me happiness have directly related to, like, going somewhere new, trying something new, you know, some sort of experience, or making memories with friends and family, like, things like that. So it's kind of a. I'm kind of a boring person to ask that question to because I just don't buy a lot of random things.

[Eric]

I thought you were like, we still have. You're a boring person. And I was like, yeah, yeah. I didn't know you were headed more in this.

[Travis]

Like, we still have the same.

We still have the same TV that we had when we moved into this house, like, yeah, five years ago. And it's. We lost the remote a long time ago. We just have to go, like, turn it on with your hand. And then, like, we janked together this, like, Bose sound bar that we've had for a really long time and hooked it up. And they don't really sync all the time, so you have to, like, turn off the TV and then turn it back on to get the thing to turn on. And it's just. I don't. I just. I know we could go by a new tv. They're not that expensive anymore, so.

Cheap.

[Travis]

Yeah. It's actually crazy how cheap and nice some of them are, but I don't know, I just. I just don't feel any sort. Like, it's like, well, though it works, it has a picture on it and it's fine. You know what I mean? So why do that?

[Eric]

So I feel with my phone, especially

[Travis]

when I look at it in terms of trips, you know, I mean, it's like, we could go buy a new TV, new sound system and stuff like that. Might spend 2500 bucks or 3 grand or something, but it's like. But also, that's like a week with my family somewhere.

[Eric]

So I have an upgrade available for my phone, and I still haven't exchanged it, but it's because I don't want to even mess with, like, no matter how backed up your phone is. Oh, wait, where's that person's number? Oh, wait, where's this thing?

It's like upgrading stuff because we talked about the I today. I was like, my phone now, like, I have to really massage it to call back. I have to really massage the cord to get it to charge.

And it holds charge for about an hour. So I'm like, I think I have to use that upgrade now. But I'm still waiting. I'm still going to hold off to see how long ago I go, yeah,

wait till the last possible second. But yeah, but then we take three vacations in a summer, you know, that's the other thing.

[Eric]

No, that was, that was kind of more fun though.

[Travis]

Yeah, like, I don't know, it's just.

[Eric]

Well, it's like my daughter's birthday soon and, and we're talking and I was like, I don't want to do like a ton of gifts, you know, stuff. Yeah, let's plan a trip.

[Travis]

Exactly.

[Eric]

I was like, should just buy gifts. Well, it's way cheap.

[Travis]

We're talking about doing that for like Christmases from now on because like every year, dude, like our, our kids are like sort of the only kids around the family these days. You know what I mean? So it's like they get showered on with presents and gifts every year and it's just like, I know 75% of these are not going to be played with past this month. Like they're just gonna sit around, collect dust and then ultimately get lost in the couch cushions or trashed by the dog or the kids or whatever. It was just like, why don't we just get them like a few things.

[Eric]

Yeah.

[Travis]

And go somewhere with snow and stuff for Christmas.

[Eric]
