In June 2024, we released Troubled Waters, re examining Louisa's life and her 2011 death in Darebin Creek. And a reminder, her death was ruled as consistent with drowning, with no suspicious circumstances found. But after our investigation, many of you wanted to know how you could help raise more awareness about her story. A petition launched by Louisa's loved ones calling for her case to be reopened gathered over 18,500 signatures. Thousands more shared her story, spoke her name, and showed kindness to a young woman whose story might otherwise have been forgotten if you signed, shared, or simply listened. Thank you. There's now a significant update I can share with you all. In Victoria, it is very rare for a coroner to reopen a closed case. But Louisa's family has now learned the coroner has agreed to do just that. Louisa's case has been reopened. So what does all this mean? It means that the coroner will revisit the circumstances of Louisa's death. They'll now examine the original findings, consider new information, and decide what further steps, including a possible inquest, are warranted. In some situations, the coroner can also refer a case to police or the Director of Public Prosecutions. But for now, what happens next is uncertain. What is clear is how we got here. This began with Louise's brother, Tass. His determination to find answers has been extraordinary, and it has continued thanks to her friends and loved ones, those who spoke on the podcast or even came forward privately to share what they knew. I also want to make particular mention to the professionals who spoke out or worked quietly behind the scenes to support the family. Because this is now before the coroner, we won't be speculating or discussing anything further, but we will keep you informed as we're able. Your support has meant more to Louisa's family and friends than they could ever express. And Louise's story is no longer silent.
