Welcome back to two Judgy Girls. This is Mary from the bay, and
Courtney
it's Courtney from la. You got a little pep in your step today, I guess.
Mary
I guess because we're talking Southern hospitality. This episode is called the beach is Crazy.
Courtney
And they're not really even on the beach for a lot of the episode. Maybe it's just really in reference to that breakdown or was it a breakthrough?
Mary
I am obsessed with Michaels. He is my new Carl. Like, he can do no wrong in my eyes. I love him so much.
Courtney
Okay, keep expanding on that for us.
Mary
First of all, I love this moment, the whole church thing. You know, he just felt like this huge release. Like, it was so cathartic for him. You know, he felt his grandmother's spirit in there. I thought that was, like, a lovely moment. I also think it's really interesting of him, like, keep on reaching out to his mom, and the mom won't film. But also, I am just happy that he is not gonna bow down to Emmy, you know, and he is going to stay stand up with conviction. And he says she's not listening. Well, he might not be listening either,
Courtney
but I'm okay with that. Okay. So you will recognize some flaws.
Mary
I love him. I am worried about next week, though. Is he really gonna get demoted?
Courtney
Whoa. We saw that in the preview for this season. I think so. But it does feel like every season, they do demote someone from that AGM role. Emmy's had it. Joe Bradley, I believe, has had it. Maddie had it at one point. So it does feel cyclical that someone's always deserving of a demotion. Oh, you think you're good? Let me remind you, you're not.
Mary
But I also feel like this is Michael's main source of income.
Courtney
Do you think he gets paid more at Republic than he does on this show?
Mary
I think they make 60,000. I do not think they make a lot on this show. And so maybe as an AGM, another 60. I've made up both of these, but I may be equal.
Courtney
Okay. Okay.
Mary
And. And that's probably how he gets his health benefits.
Courtney
Courtney, you think that Leva offers health insurance to them?
Mary
Maybe.
Courtney
I think you're giving too much credit.
Mary
If you're. If you're a manager at a place, you don't get health insurance.
Courtney
I don't know. I also feel like it's entitled only.
Mary
I see.
Courtney
I mean, I'm going off of vibes. No evidence. Just as you are. So I. I don't know. Like. Yes. Do I think in a restaurant that you could. Probably figures there. Sure. I just. I don't know why Republic feels like the wild, wild west, where it's like, you could just say whatever title you want to have.
Mary
Bottle. Bottle service.
Courtney
Yeah. Like, oh, what are you? I'm like, oh, I'm a bottle babe. So anyways, for Michaels, last week, I said, oh, you know, he was kind of having that second season, like, really feeling himself, and then I'm like, with him some weeks, and then I'm not with him on some other weeks. And it's funny because I don't think he's in the wrong with Emmy, but the delivery and the moment that he wanted to have, he's like, losing everyone because in the conversation that we saw two weeks ago where he was trying to talk to her, she lost the plot. He was like, you are not hearing me. This is done. And he's carrying that into the next day. It's a week for us watching it, but it's like 12 hours for them, 24 hours for them. And so I can see him wanting to distance himself now. They do all use the word best friend in a Sheena Shay way, of course.
Mary
Of course.
Courtney
So there is that. But I don't think it's weird for them to want to have distance from Emmy because she's terrible.
Mary
I mean, what did you think about his line? My outfit matches the stand because I let you walk all over me. Was that rehearsed?
Courtney
Well, yes, but I think you need to say the first part because that's what really killed it. It wasn't good because he said, you guys think I'm just wearing a fishnet top, but my outfit matches the sand because I let you walk all over me. Like, that was terrible. I feel like we really could have done a better line and we could have maybe used chat GBT on this one because it was not a good delivery for me. Everyone at the table was like, no, no.
Mary
Everyone laughing at the table the entire time. Like, Mia had to get up because she was laughing so hard. Julia cackling. They are just in shock and cannot be serious in this Moment. Because the last supper was insane. We colle the phones. You know, everyone's, like, welcoming Julia, who shows up for 24 hours, and Emmy is just sitting there, like, rolling her hair, like, what are they gonna do to me tonight? I know they're all against me. They brought Julian for backup. What is gonna happen tonight?
Courtney
She's so angry that her lip liner is terrible. The way that her hand is shaking because she's so angry that when you look at that lip liner, you think, ma', am, take a Q tip. Blend it out. It's terrible. I mean, maybe she can't see because her pupils are so large. I did like her dress, though, you guys. I did like that dress.
Mary
It was really cute, actually. The, like, blue sequin almost.
Courtney
It was blue into sunset. It was almost like ocean into sunset. And it was sequin as a little midi dress. I've seen it on Revolve. I do like that dress. I'm sure that she in where Michael's also got his shirt. They probably have a version of that. We're on the last night, which is Maddie's dj. Before we get there, though, we do need to discuss Justin's phone call. I need to talk about how this man is a love bomber.
Mary
I love you.
Courtney
He's talking to Charlie. This is the same phone call, by the way, that we were shown a couple of episodes to another editing blunder that Courtney caught. Maybe it was. I don't know.
Mary
Wait, wait. Talking about an editing blunder, did you see Lisa Kudrow on Watch what Happens Live? And Andy asked, oh, how are you feeling about the Housewives? And Lisa's like, I. I'm not. You don't want me to say. And then she says, two black Mercedes. Basically, like, calling out the Beverly Hills women. That there was two black Mercedes there that was all staged in Italy.
Courtney
The production vans you're talking about. Yes.
Mary
And I was like, wow, Lisa. For her to say that on air to Andy. I felt like, wow, Lisa.
Courtney
Well, that is the Valerie cherished to you, Andy. Okay, we don't want to see that.
Mary
I. I just was like, whoa, pulling down the curtains, pulling the bath.
Courtney
What did Andy respond to that?
Mary
He, I think, was a little caught off guard and just like, okay, then, yeah, moving on.
Courtney
Let's play Hollywood Squares, which is just tic tac toe that nobody can seem to understand. Okay, so back to this phone call, though. So Justin and Charlie, by the way, they've been on, what, two dates or something? They've only been together for less than two weeks. Something like that she's breaking out on her chin from his beard, and he loves a slick back on her. And then he hangs up with her and says, I love you after the
Mary
hang up, and literally, TJ's like, I cannot. This is ridiculous.
Courtney
And production asks him, how many girls have you said I love you to? And he says, about 40 women. I love women. Red flag, Red flag. A green flag for his mom is she's a swifty. It's a red flag for him. I'm like, justin, you are a walking red flag, sir. Okay.
Mary
That's why I guess I was so shocked to hear about his upbringing. It feels like the mom is Irish Catholic from Boston, probably super strict with him. I. This dental floss panty story was absolutely hysterical. Got a car taken away. But I was just like, so shocked to see someone so open and free spirited that, like, grew up in this household. Do you know what I mean?
Courtney
That this man is sexually promiscuous.
Mary
Just from his background,
Courtney
I guess. I just. He's a man.
Mary
I think the Irish Catholic thing, it's the guilt, I guess. He wasn't scared. All us Irish Catholics are the same. Okay, sure.
Courtney
Okay. Okay, Back to this dinner. So somehow Grace Lily gets brought up and Maddie's like, no, I haven't talked to her. And I'm like, it's such. That felt like a weird thing to kind of interject into that table.
Mary
Mm.
Courtney
Did you think that?
Mary
Yeah. I mean, the way that we see her later in the episode was super interesting to me. Yeah.
Courtney
Was super sad.
Mary
So I guess they were kind of trying to trickle it in so we could close the loop on that relationship. Not close the loop.
Courtney
Like it was a precursor that we would see later in the episode.
Mary
Yes. Then.
Courtney
Then Joe does a toast. He's just proud. He's proud of Maddie, he's proud of the group. He's proud of everyone. And, you know, Joe Bradley, for me, he's not a man of words. He says a lot of them episode after episode. I'm like, God, he is obsessed with her.
Mary
He is a cutie patootie on the loose, you know, he is the ultimate hype person for her. All he wants is her to be successful. And he wants to ride off the coattails and be a stay at home dad.
Courtney
He just wants to be dad talk Charleston version.
Mary
Wait, I. I kind of love that. I love Joe Bradley's version.
Courtney
That's like the dad talk. I want to see. I don't want to see the Utah dad talk pass. Then, you know, they're going around the table. What was the favorite thing you ate on this trip? Emmy's still looking for her tacos. Where are they? And for Justin, he likes to say that Michaels would say, probably TJ's ass. And that was funny. Justin is witty. I feel like he's somebody who's, like, fast moving. Like, he got. He's got good banter. Like, I can see why girls fall for him. I'm not falling for it, but I can see why they do.
Mary
I like him more now, knowing I would have never guessed, to be honest. So now I'm in love like, you guys.
Courtney
She is turning bright red, right? And she is so giddy, like, we
Mary
have a connection now. I hope he got confirmed.
Courtney
We. You must talk to him. You send him a. Send him a quick dm. Hey, quick question.
Mary
Where did he get baptized?
Courtney
Oh, my God. I can't. I can't. So Michael's like you had talked about earlier this episode. He's carrying a lot of pain. He really let go of everything at the church. It was nice to cry, release, and he prayed for everybody at the table.
Mary
I. I really liked what Matty said here, how he wasn't that comfortable last season, and he didn't have, like, the confidence, and now it's his superpower. I. I thought that was a great way to put it into words.
Courtney
And. And it is true. Like, you can tell Michaels was a fan favorite last season, and I think that did help him have confidence in who he is as a person. And we saw it in the church, right. As, like, this is who I am. Am I accepted? And. And, like. Yes. Right. And he's obviously battling with everything that. That was from his upbringing and, like, to where he is now and. And being gay and not feeling accepted, especially in the church. And so he does have this level of confidence that is good, but also has this level of confidence within the show that might not carry over so much. But he's also so young.
Mary
I'm still a fan favorite. He hasn't lost me.
Courtney
I'm saying he has room for growth and mistakes still.
Mary
Right. I mean, you don't want to be a Bryn Whitfield, you know, you don't want to have your best season as your first season and crumble in your second and ruin a franchise. Yeah.
Courtney
And then Emmy's like, well, I'm gonna say something now. She's like, yeah. Like, oh, the church thing, cool. Like, I woke up and you guys were gone. Okay.
Mary
Like, she's tangling her hair up, freaking.
Courtney
I was not invited to the Team A outing because again, I think she is thinking about filming Team A was taken. The rest of us are left overs at the beach club. Well, and those are my best friends. Exactly.
Mary
She also considers Michael a bestie and she couldn't believe she wouldn't be invited to the church. And he said, well, you know, I brought the people that supported me and that are the closest to me. She's like heard a loud and clear message received. You know, we all have best friends at that table and we're loyal to and I guess I'm not it.
Courtney
Let's take a break and let's really get into this argument here.

Does your day move faster than you can keep up with new Gatorade Lower sugar? My family and I can stay at the top of our game. No artificial flavors, sweeteners or colors. 75% less sugar and all the electrolytes of regular Gatorade. Now available nationwide. Michaels is like, I am not going to be silenced or shut down. You guys think I'm wearing this fishnet top, but my outfit matches the sand because I let Emmy walk all over me. And everyone's like, what? What are you talking about?
Courtney
But also, it's like, so funny because he has this dramatic moment and he is like, I'm gonna take Emmy down. Like, she disrespected me yesterday. I'm not feeling hurt. I'm so pissed at her. And I opportunity at this dinner to have my moment. Except that the moment wasn't dramatic, it was comedic. And everybody at the table is like, even Emmy's like, oh, wait, okay. And it's almost like she sees that little opening that she can take to make it about her.
Mary
Does she make it about her?
Courtney
But everyone's like, he practiced that in the mirror.
Mary
Then the whole table gets involved, Julia mia. And they're defending Brad because they're like, emmy, you did the same thing to Brad. You don't listen. You are defaming him. And like, you going around Charleston telling people that aren't on this show that he stalked you is disgusting, despicable. And Julia's like, do you think you should actually give a real apology now?
Courtney
Like, Emmy is like, what are you guys talking about? She really wants everyone to pinpoint this for her, as if she doesn't know what she's done. And the crazy thing is, though, I. She believes herself. Emmy, to herself, is not lying. She literally believes everything that's coming out of her mouth. I don't know what you're talking about because I feel like she just gets herself so riled up. She literally doesn't remember these conversations, even though it's the same one over and over and over. And I like that Julia is here. Because I think that Julia really is like, she's so concerned about Brad because that's her man, and she does not like what Emmy's doing it. And I think also Emmy was her friend. We remember. Emmy introduced them, right?
Mary
And at the end of the day, they are just trying to get Emmy to realize what she did wrong. And Emmy still doesn't realize why it is wrong. She keeps on saying, well, that was my feelings. That was how I felt. And it's like, well, first of all, what you're saying is defaming Brad.
Courtney
You're threatening his livelihood, Right? Like, there are implications from the words that you're saying that have more gravity when you're talking about Brad. And she can't understand what she said and why that would be right. Mia's like, emmy, let's be serious. Come on. I've heard it from many other people. You said that they were, like, knocking down your door. And Emmy's like, well, you were very upset in the text. It's like, in response to you, Emmy, you're the one who's screaming. You're the one saying that I'm stalking you. And she's like, oh, look, I wasn't, like, naked crying on the bathroom floor. It's like, he never banged on my door. I had a panic attack. I feel like everyone's kind of like, why are you even saying you weren't naked crying out the bathroom? Nobody thought you were. We heard you yelling. Because the doors are very thin in this hotel, and I still need the name to never stay there. Please let me know. I never want to stay at this hotel. Why are these walls and doors so thin?
Mary
TJ's line was great here. He's like, oh, you had a panic attack because you realize we heard everything that you said, so I would be having a panic attack as well. Well.
Courtney
And then poor Brad. He's like, by the way, Emmy, you made me cry. You just are stabbing me in the back, and you keep going deeper. It's like twisting that knife. I feel so sad for him. I need to know what happens at this reunion because of what he said, but I hope he's like, put her in her place about how dangerous the words are that she uses, especially in reference towards him. And she finally is like, okay, well, Brad, I'm sorry. He's like, for what, though? He wants her to say it out loud because she said sorry now six times, has taken it back six times because she doesn't know what she's actually sorry for. She just Wants to move on from this. She doesn't want to be the villain anymore, even though she's creating her entire scenario in her head and she is the villain.
Mary
No. And then she's like, for everything. I am sorry that the word I used to describe my feelings was super triggering. And it sparked a lot of deep emotions in you, which. That is such a bullshit apology. That is disgusting. I'm sorry. Exactly. I never wanted to make you feel this way. This is not my intent, and I am sorry. And he's just like, well, you know what? Okay. That's all I can do at this point is, like, coexist with you. I will never be your friend again.
Courtney
Because he knows, though, right? Like, he knows that she doesn't actually understand what she's supposed to be sorry for. She's just talking right now. Like, he wants her to say it out loud. Exactly what she said. And she's not going to, because in her mind, I'm not really sorry for saying it. It is how I felt. Sorry if you're triggered for my feelings. It's like, what?
Mary
When? Then she just makes it about herself. She's like, you know, guys, I really hate being in a bad place with other friends, people.
Courtney
I.
Mary
You know, I have these deep, deep feelings. And it just makes it about herself. And Michaels is like, it is always about you. Like, stop giving it the run around. He, like, loses his. And I loved this moment.
Courtney
This was.
Mary
Yeah.
Courtney
So I was like, okay, someone get this girl a paper bag. The look on Mia's face is all of us watching this. Like, are you kidding me? This is. Is absolutely insane. These white women. Tears, pretending that she's upset. No tears are coming out. By the way, I noticed that she Erica Janed herself and wore non waterproof mascara. A little, like, wetness that she could get out so she could have a little black under the eyes.
Mary
No. Everyone is laughing at this table. Tj, Julia. No one is taking this seriously. They're like, this is nuts. Like, once again, you're not taking accountability. You're making it about yourself. And this is just, like, such a shit show.
Courtney
And he didn't ask for it to be a shit show. Mary. She did not ask for it to be a shit show. Sorry, I am too much as a friend. Like, babe, you are not a friend to anyone. Even at one point, too, like, Lake tries to interject, and Michael's like, no, I know.
Mary
I'm obsessed with him. He just says whatever the fuck he wants. It's amazing.
Courtney
But then everyone's like, okay, you know, Michaels, you do need to, like, let her speak. And I'm like, what do you guys want from Emmy? I don't actually think Michaels is in the wrong here. I just think because of that line delivery that he started off with, that it threw the table off of what he was trying to achieve here. I think that some of them thought, oh, he's trying for a TV moment here.
Mary
Well, and the cat. The cat. I'm like. I'm like, maddie, I hate cats. I think they're, like. Like, very agile and nimble, and you kind of don't know where they're gonna come next. I mean, part of the lion family. Scary. I genuinely. I really don't like being around cats.
Courtney
I'm not a cat person either. One of our friends, she had a cat. And I remember, like, sleeping over at her house. And our friend Brittany, she had this cat, Juliet. And Juliet freaking hated me. Hated me. And I slept over one night, and that cat in the middle of the night jumped up on the bed onto my face. Yeah. And I screamed. And she just had this look like, yeah, bitch. I tried it. Like, I think she wanted to kill me. And I never slept over at her house ever again. That cat. I knew. I knew. They say dogs have a good instinct on people. I don't trust cats.
Mary
I do not trust them. They're always kind of creeping around. They're kind of, like, lingering in the background. I mean, the only animal that can be left alone for several days and still stay alive. Like, why? Why can they do that?
Courtney
Nobody needs to check on them. And then cat litter stinks.
Mary
Yeah. Yeah.
Courtney
I'm sorry. If you guys have cats, and I know that you guys are, like, holding them tight right now. This is just a personal preference. I'm sure. I'm sure your cats are lovely because there's no wrong with your cats. And they're beautiful and gorgeous. Just the cats that we've inter. Interacted with haven't been the best.
Mary
I don't like animals. I only like one dog named Birdie, and that's pretty much it.
Courtney
So I like. Her other sister has a dog too.
Mary
Yeah.
Courtney
Yeah. Thank God Kelly doesn't listen to this. But that cat. I couldn't tell at first, though, if Maddie wanted to pet the cat. Like, she saw the cat was, like, excited. And then when she was in her chair, when Emmy has to stop the conversation, it's like, maddie, are you scared of the cat? She's like, I am. I am. I'm like, this dinner is so funny, because there's the cat that people are watching because they're on the lookout for Maddie. She's got a big. She's got a big gig in like 20 minutes, guys. Okay. They're worried this cat's gonna attack her.
Mary
The fact that Maddie had to go do the gig after this, and I think she was late to the gig. It was past 9 o'. Clock. Yes.
Courtney
But, you know, but Joe, like, takes Emmy and he's like, why don't we, like, walk away? You know, Maddie and Joe, they're really the mom of the dad of the group.
Mary
I thought it was a very interesting choice out of anyone in the group that Joe Bradley took. Emmy.
Courtney
Well, I think it would usually be Maddie, but she had a gig.
Mary
Oh, sure. She's like, I gotta get to that dj.
Courtney
Yeah, it's just around the corner. We're at cell. It's okay. But I think Joe was also like, you're not gonna ruin my girlfriend's debut.
Mary
Yeah.
Courtney
Like, we need her to have more international dates. We need more vacations.
Mary
We're going on a walk. Okay. And Emmy is like, I do this every year to myself. What have I done to these people? My fiance would just destroy these people.
Courtney
Sorry.
Mary
He has a career, like, God, I'm
Courtney
just easy pickings in this group. If Will was here, you got this would be over. I'm like, will, who didn't show up to the reunion. Will, who literally lost his spot on the show because he wouldn't show up at the reunion. That guy's going to be defending your honor.
Mary
He graduated law school this weekend.
Courtney
Congratulations. Yeah.
Mary
Yeah. Are they getting married this summer? I made this up in my head.
Courtney
I feel like it was a this fall thing based also on nothing.
Mary
I wonder if we, like, be able to film the wedding at all, if she's even gonna come back.
Courtney
Well, that's what I was wondering. Like, nobody has thrown her a bachelorette party this season. Nobody has celebrated her engagement this season. It is surprising in a way that she hasn't tried to make any sort of wedding content. And then I wondered if production is so pissed at her and Will that they're, like, not allowing it. Like, what event has she had this season?
Mary
Well, I'm surprised she didn't try to do, like, wedding dress shopping at least. Like, that feels like a good intro to the wedding, but maybe, yeah, they're punishing her.
Courtney
Like, I think they're pissed at her and Will, and I feel like that now you can't edit what they don't give you. So I think Emmy is a villain. But I also think that they're happy to villainize her. They're happy to shine a light on the dumb she is doing.
Mary
Yes. Well, I very curious if she will come back. Does she want to come back? Will she be invited back? I don't. I kind of think, no.
Courtney
No. That we need her. So then after Joe pulls her to. To the sand. That's the beach part there. Michaels is like, I'm so over this. And the whole table's like, michaels, you need to talk to her. And I'm like, I'm with Michaels. Though he did try to talk to her. So now he has to have another conversation with her about the conversation that they had before. About the conversation that they. If he didn't get through to her the day before, why do you think it's going to get through to her this time?
Mary
What happens later on with Molly and her shows you Emmy's true color.
Courtney
The light that was in her eyes. I'm like, oh, my God, she's the joker.
Mary
No, she's like, okay, I realize Michael and I are not going to be best friends anymore. Molly, let me tell you something. Because he was part of getting you fired. He had an opinion about it. He was allowed to say yes or no. He said yes. And that's why you're fired.
Courtney
Let's take a break and break that down. We all prefer things a certain way. Like groceries. If you want groceries just how you like them, you gotta try Instacart. They have a new preference picker that lets you pick how ripe or unripe you want your bananas. Shoppers can see your preferences upfront, helping guide their choices. Mary
This was pretty wild. It just shows Emmy's true colors. It was disgusting because she's so pissed at Michael's, she's gonna reveal also, Molly, you didn't wanna work there. You're actually an event planner. This is like, well, maybe you were doing like one gig a month at Republic. And Michael's probably as the assistant manager was asked and he said, well, like, she's not that into it. I think it's fine if we let her go. I don't think this is that big of a deal.
Courtney
I think it's because it's an underlying factor of being on the show. And if you don't work at the restaurant, can you be on the show? I think maybe she was wondering if her standing was going to be jeopardized because if she wasn't working at Republic, like she was keeping one shift a month just to be on the show still. And if somehow she got fired, would she be removed from the show? Does she have as much impact as Mia did when she was let go? And I think the answer is yes. I've actually really enjoyed Molly on the show and I like her and Mia's friendship, but I didn't think about it that way, that that's how I was assuming it in the beginning of this season. And then I think in the beginning of the season, don't quote me, but I was pretty sure I was on Michael side. I was like, I don't think he had any involvement.
Mary
Well, then when they did, flashback to,
Courtney
yeah, I think he did have involvement. I do think now I do think
Mary
it Was a little, little, little bit tough.
Courtney
So it was like, you guys are doing this during Maddie's set. Can't you just wait a half hour? Her set is maybe an hour.
Mary
Maddie is absolutely stunning. She is so gorgeous. I was obsessed with her hair. I'd love to see a DJ set by her. I bet it's a blast Fan fest.
Courtney
Maybe Maddie will be DJing in Charleston at Fan Fest in October.
Mary
That would be great sign, right? Yeah.
Courtney
You're like, no. Like, I can't imagine that. Like, she wouldn't. But I was. I was proud of her. She got up there. I was thinking about this, too, because it was like, okay, this was supposed to be a replay because she had to cancel before because of everything that had happened. Right. And then I thought, this is actually probably better for this venue because now they're actually going to be on tv. I don't know if the first one was going to be filmed. Like, I don't know if it was a cast trip that got pushed out, but I'm feeling like it wasn't. It was a summer gig that she decided to cancel. So I was like, I think this is actually way better for them.
Mary
Definitely.
Courtney
Don't you want to go to this hotel? If you went to Punta Cana?
Mary
I would. I would totally go. This looks like a blast. I loved them all jumping in the pool at the end. Them panning to Emmy by herself in a bathing suit had me cackling.
Courtney
They're all in that lazy river going around, and she's, like, trying to catch up with the group, and they're like, you with me in the lazy river at Baja Mar, when Mary was sprinting away from me, I'm like, where are you going? It's a lazy river. It's in the title.
Mary
I was running. I was running the river.
Courtney
I know. Okay. At one point, too, though, when they jump in the pool, they're in a circle, and Michaels is in the center of it, and he gives TJ this, like, cute little, like, slap on the face. Did you notice that? I was kidding. It was like, this is so silly. But I loved Maddie's DJ set. I loved how they all there to support her. Brad was. They were, like, doing d, like, choreographed dances. Joe couldn't. He has chronic back pain. He couldn't do it. Okay. He 30. Feeling good for him, but he couldn't do that because of the back pain.
Mary
But he knows how to tie a tie.
Courtney
Hey, around the bunny, twice in the hole, up the hole, something like that.
Mary
The mouse goes up the tree. And in the hole, when TJ says the line to Lake, we know you do too, because you're half, half lesbian.
Courtney
By the way, Lake, on her date with Nessa looked absolutely stunning. She looks so beautiful in that scene. But I was laughing that they were wearing like, the same outfit but in different colors of the corset tops.
Mary
How do they have the same tattoo?
Courtney
Well, it's ohana, meaning family, and they both got it in Hawaii. I feel like they're big Lilo and Stitch fans,
Mary
maybe that is of that generation.
Courtney
Ohana meets family. Isn't that the line literally from the movie?
Mary
I've never seen that.
Courtney
Aren't you watching these because you have a child now?
Mary
He's never watched a cartoon, only Rachel.
Courtney
Bubblegum, bubble gum, sticky, icky, icky. Why do I know that? Because I was like, charlie, come here, watch this.
Mary
Sticky, sticky, sticky bubble gum, bubble. Okay, anyways, speaking of lovers.
Courtney
Yes.
Mary
Yes. Let's talk a little bit more about Leight because I think it is really great for her to share this story. She's saying that her dad thinks she's doing it for shock value and she's like, you know, like, last year's really hard for me to identify on TV as a certain way, but I can confidently say this year, like, I am that Q&LGBTQ. And I just feel like that was a huge moment for her and good for her for voicing it. Feeling proud, feeling hopefully very accepted. And I'm. I'm curious what's going to happen between her and her dad. Yeah.
Courtney
I wonder if at the reunion if we'll get an update.
Mary
I hope so.
Courtney
Yeah. Okay, let's talk about Joe. Really doing his job at Republic. I felt like this is where the season is going is like Joe has no direction and at the end he's going to get Jojo's.
Mary
Oh. Oh, that's kind of a cute name.
Courtney
No, it's like very Tom. Tom Jojo.
Mary
I don't know that I feel like JoJo's is cuter than Tom Tom. I don't know why. Even though it's literally the exact same thing.
Courtney
Either way, we don't need a bar for Joe.
Mary
Well, we've decided that he's going in the hair business, but him going to Leva, pretending like, well, you know, I'm just getting hit up by a lot of different people and she is clearly pushing him off. Like, Joe, we are not putting any restaurant in your name. We don't need you. I don't want you to be the face of anything. And he, like, really has this, like, fantastical glimmer of hope that she is going to give him a bar. And it's like, for what?
Courtney
I know, I know. I'm like, what? So you had a good night? And at I also was laughing too, because a group of older women came to Republic and they wanted to watch the game. And he was like, okay, well, last time Leva got mad at me for bringing a table of 60 year olds into this, so now I've got to throw them over to Lamar. Lamars. Oh, you like sports? Lamar's just down the street. You're gonna love it.
Mary
No, he is so charming, cute. He's quick on his feet. He knows how to please a group. I wish him great things in the hair business.
Courtney
Yeah, we root for a nine to five for that Joey, Joe.
Mary
We sure do. We sure do.
Courtney
Okay, let's talk about Zachary's daiquiris, because why are they trying to force Allie on us? Look, Ali was fine on Vanderpump Rules, okay? Do I think she was a compelling reality TV character?
Mary
No. Yeah, well, it is kind of interesting because Maddie and James Kennedy used to go around touring together, so I kind of, like, forgot that part of it. Outside of just, like, the Bravo sphere. But also, we have to mention, James Kennedy is expecting.
Courtney
Okay, I know. I do not care about that man at all. I came through and I was like, okay, right? I don't think we need Ally. I hope her music career takes off. I also saw that she's dating some, like, TikTok star or, like, Little Huddie or something.
Mary
Let's talk about Grace. So Grace is in the shop. She's doing her tarot card readings, and Joe is thrown off by seeing her there. They both did not believe that she
Courtney
was gonna believe she was not on the call sheet for the day.
Mary
And Joe doesn't really know what to do. He's not gonna go up and say hi to her. He's not giving her the time of day. And then finally she approaches him and he's like, grace, I care and I love you, but, you know, we're both pretty hurt right now. And Grace then pulls Maddie, and they have have two very different stories from the same night. Like, it's crazy.
Courtney
It's really sad, actually, because I think that Grace thought Maddie was going to have a surface level conversation with her. Grace was going to apologize for her behavior that night. And then when Maddie wasn't taking the apology, she was like, hold on, like, you're switching this up on me in a way. And you could tell that Grace. And it's sad because Maddie even says this at the dinner when they're talking about Grace is like, you can go through step one 300 times. And so someone who's gone through this process, she's like, don't lie to my face. I know it. Because as you say, grace, I've been through this. I can see it. You trying to tell me things are not true. I know this literally picked you up
Mary
from a party that you had to get picked up from because you were so out of it. I took care of you. I took you to my home, and I bathed you, and I gave you headphones to. For you to have a meditation. And then Grace's version of the story is, I slept at my friend's house, and she was watching Ozzy Osbourne the whole time. And it's just like, clearly something happened that night.
Courtney
I wasn't on drugs. I was drinking. And Maddie's just upset because she can't have a drink. Like, I can't. And it's sad because we also know, too, that she's been arrested twice since this has aired.
Mary
She's an active addiction right now. And you're literally watching it play out. And Maddie's like, I am not going to go with your lies. I can't. That's not who I am. I'm not going to protect you. I will help you, but I'm not going to lie with you.
Courtney
Well, and I thought it was interesting, too, when Grace was trying to deny what was going on that night, and she was like, I didn't have drugs on me. That was the first statement that she made, as opposed to then she was like. And then I didn't do them either. And so I'm going to believe Maddie, because Maddie said, like, she called me. I picked her up. And then I thought back to earlier in the season with TJ's DUI, that she. That she was like, of course, TJ. I was the one phone call because he knew I'd be sober. I think that her friends rely on Maddie in a sober way. And she's always such a giver in that respect. Not that I think they're always calling her like that, but I think that they do know that she is a safe space and a safe person to call.
Mary
Yes, yes, yes.
Courtney
When Grace was like, yeah, she was ignoring me watching the Osbornes. And Maddie's like, okay, well, that was the week that Ozzy Osbourne died. So I was watching the Osbourne.
Mary
I thought she was watching, like, the MTV Show.
Courtney
That's what I assume.
Mary
Also, the MTV show makes so much more sense now, knowing that he had Parkinson's. Like, he had all the signs of Parkinson's in that show. The mumbled voice, the way he walked. And I don't think he was diagnosed at that point. Oh, but you, like, thought other things at that time.
Courtney
Yeah, I. Yeah, I don't even remember what I was thinking. It was like 2007, right? Like 20 years ago almost. I mean, right? It was.
Mary
Oh, yeah. It was them in the Newlyweds. And it was psychotic tv. And literally nothing happened on these TV shows. But it was riveting because you're like, this is how this family lives and how they talk to each other. It's actually crazy.
Courtney
All of those shows though. Like, I can remember Mary and I were like, oh, we'll go back and like, recap a couple of them. Even like the Hills at Laguna Beach. We're watching, like, literally nothing happens.
Mary
There's no plot. It's like Jessica Simpson spent $700 on songs and then was too embarrassed to return it. And then she met Nick at Tony Romos and they had a Miller Light. That's the show. And then like one time her dog went missing because of a coyote, and the dog never came back. You know, it was things like that.
Courtney
That your memory right now is wild.
Mary
So my memory before is better than now.
Courtney
You have long term memory, not short term. I'm like, these facts that you're bringing.
Mary
Jessica Simpson is coming here and playing at Green Casino Memorial Day weekend.
Courtney
Are you gonna go?
Mary
I don't think I can do it.
Courtney
I don't know, like, because you don't want to or like, you can't make it?
Mary
It's like, I think it might be on the a. A Thursday. Oh.
Courtney
What was like her real big song. I think I'm in love, boy.
Mary
I think that I'm in love with you I can do. Yeah. That you want me to.
Courtney
I mean, she had a billion dollar company, by the way, with Jessica Simpson. All of her clothing and shoes and stuff.
Mary
Yeah, I would love.
Courtney
Okay, sorry, side note. I would love think about this Mary. And we would go and I think we would travel for this Ashley and Jessica and Ashley Simpson tour together.
Mary
It would be a freaking blast. All the pieces, pieces, pieces.
Courtney
Here's the crazy thing. And it wouldn't happen, but, like, Jessica would need to open for Ashley.
Mary
Whoa, whoa. No. So Ashley is. Had the better albums.
Courtney
That autobiography, she could play that from beginning to end. And there were. I think she had more hits than Jessica.
Mary
I completely agree with you.
Courtney
Jessica's a bigger star because she married Nick.
Mary
And remember they were trying. Trying to pretend that they were virgins before they got married. That was like a huge thing. Yeah, well, and they didn't live together before they got married. Let's.
Courtney
Let's bring it into Bravo. Remember when Joe Simpson did the photo shoot with Tom in season five of Vanderpump Rules because he had those stupid extensions in.
Mary
It always comes back to Bravo.
Courtney
It always comes back to Bravo.
Mary
Yeah. Wow.
Courtney
Wow. Good time.
Mary
Next week we get Meredith Marks. That's going to be huge. That's fun.
Courtney
Maddie opening for her.
Mary
Maybe. Maybe.
Courtney
It feels like we're really focused on the DJing of Meredith Marks, but I don't see Maddie anywhere in there. We need back to back to back of all the DJs. Like B2B. Meredith. Meredith Marks. B2B. Maddie Reese. B2B. Dorinda Medley. B2B to Erica James. Other B2B.
Mary
Kyle Cook.
Courtney
Kyle Cook. B2B. Randy from Southern Charm. He's the closer. Phones and ovens optional.
Mary
See, your memory is good too. Oh, God. All right, on that note, everyone have a great day and we will be back soon.
Courtney
Bye.

Episode Date: May 15, 2026
Hosts: Courtney (LA) and Mary (Bay Area)
Episode Title: “The Beach is Crazy”
Courtney and Mary reunite (virtually, 400 miles apart) to break down the eleventh episode of Southern Hospitality Season 4, titled “The Beach is Crazy.” They dive deep into the cast’s ongoing drama—focusing especially on Emmy’s fraught relationships, Michaels’ emotional journey, and all the messy group dynamics during the cast trip. Along the way, the hosts sprinkle in their signature humor, pop culture asides, and vivid observations of reality TV character arcs.
“I am obsessed with Michaels. He is my new Carl. Like, he can do no wrong in my eyes.” (03:35)
“It does feel cyclical that someone’s always deserving of a demotion. Oh, you think you’re good? Let me remind you, you’re not.” (04:33)
“I think you’re giving too much credit… I don’t know why Republic feels like the wild, wild west, where it’s like, you could just say whatever title you want to have.” (05:26)
“You guys think I’m just wearing a fishnet top, but my outfit matches the sand because I let you walk all over me.” (07:08)
Both hosts cringe at the delivery, with Courtney saying:
“We really could have done a better line… maybe used ChatGBT on this one because it was not a good delivery for me.” (07:08)
“Maybe she can’t see because her pupils are so large. I did like her dress, though… it was blue into sunset, like ocean into sunset.” – Courtney (08:09)
“Production asks him, how many girls have you said I love you to? And he says, about 40 women. I love women. Red flag, Red flag.” – Courtney (10:41)
“Whoa, Lisa. For her to say that on air to Andy. I felt like, wow.” – Mary (09:41)
“The crazy thing is though… Emmy, to herself, is not lying. She literally believes everything that’s coming out of her mouth.” – Courtney (20:21)
“I am sorry that the word I used to describe my feelings was super triggering and it sparked a lot of deep emotions in you…” — Emmy (23:05)
Mary calls it “such a bullshit apology.”
“It is always about you. Stop giving it the run around.” (24:02)
“These white women. Tears, pretending that she’s upset. No tears are coming out.” (24:17)
“I will never be your friend again.” (23:34)
“The only animal that can be left alone for several days and still stay alive. Like, why?” (26:41)
“It just shows Emmy’s true colors. It was disgusting because she’s so pissed at Michaels, she’s gonna reveal…” (33:46)
“Maddie is absolutely stunning. She is so gorgeous. I was obsessed with her hair. I'd love to see a DJ set by her.” – Mary (35:14)
“I can confidently say this year, like, I am that Q&LGBTQ. And I just feel like that was a huge moment for her.” – Mary (38:20)
“We don’t need a bar for Joe.” – Courtney (39:22)
“Do I think she was a compelling reality TV character? No.” – Courtney (40:52)
“I picked her up. I took care of you. I took you to my home, and I bathed you, and I gave you headphones for meditation.” – Mary (42:50)
“Jessica’s a bigger star because she married Nick.” – Courtney (47:20)
