Erica Jayne
So you're telling me that the AI that's meant to make everyone's job easier to manage just adds more to manage? On top of the thousands of apps.
Matt Lafferty
The IT department already manages?
Erica Jayne
Funny how that works. Any business can add AI. IBM helps you scale and manage AI.
Matt Lafferty
To change how you do business.
Erica Jayne
Let's create smarter business IBM. Hey guys, what's up? My name is Erica Jayne. I'm here with Diamonds in the Rough. Our friend Teddy Millencamp is away, but I have a fabulous co host here, the wonderful Matt Laffrey.
Matt Lafferty
Listen to be called Fabulous by the Erika Jayne. I can't ask for anything more. The podcast can end right now. Guys. It's over.
Erica Jayne
No, it can't. No, it can't. Actually, we have lots to talk about and you have quite a stand up career of your own. So I expect this to be good and fun.
Matt Lafferty
Thank you, Erica. That's pressure, but I'm ready. I'm ready to be funny. Real quick, we should explain maybe why Teddy's not here. So guys, just so you know, Teddy loves this podcast so much. She had an issue today where she needed to go get an MRI because she was in a little bit of pain. And she is someone that has a strong reaction to immunotherapy. So every time she gets it, it's attacking a different part of her body. Before it was her thyroid. Now they think it's something in her pelvic area. So that's why she's not here. She wants to be here more than anything, but she wanted the show to go on, so that's why I'm here filling in for her. She's a fighter and she sends her love to all of you. But that is the update. And now Erica and I can disagree on things.
Erica Jayne
And now we can disagree.
Matt Lafferty
All right, well, I want to ask you since you are in the world of the show. So we ended the first episode where they kind of were going at Katie about the phone and it kind of is like a to be continued. Now sometimes we go right back into the fight, but on this they kind of just speed through the end of the trip and then enter into the women meeting up separately. Why do you think we didn't get the culmination of them with Katie showing the receipts?
Erica Jayne
I've been on a show like this for 10 years. I try not to overthink things like that. Try not to get into productions mind or editors or the way this is being told. What I did think was most interesting was that they got to hot pot, and that's where it all got good for me. You know, when you break up and you see the women break up into pairs, I mean, that's obviously for build. And everyone has their own experience with whatever happened before. But I thought it was interesting that they put Katie and Shannon together, knowing that Katie had filmed her. And, you know, then poor Shannon, you know, gets to hot pot, and there you have it. Okay, Emily Tamragina, meet up for a lymphatic drainage. By the way, this looked like a really interesting. So if anybody from that place wants to hit me up, please do. I'd like to get drained myself. And at the same time, Shannon and Katie meet at this bench that you're talking about, and they're gonna talk. Go ahead, babes.
Matt Lafferty
So Shannon kind of gives Katie, I guess, like a Housewives 101 lesson here, right? Like, she was kind of telling her how to navigate the group in a way that Katie wasn't doing to kind of make her relationships work on the show is how I took it as a fan watching.
Erica Jayne
Yes, but you can't do that. Season two. You're supposed to figure that out. Season one. And as we see, as we get further down into the episode, Katie digs herself into a bigger hole.
Matt Lafferty
Right?
Erica Jayne
But I will say Gretchen's blonde is fierce. That shit is lifted up to a platinum level status. That. That is some blonde ass hair.
Matt Lafferty
All right, well, since we brought up Gretchen's hair already, it doesn't move for me. So I was like, why? What is going on with the hair? Is this where Slade is hiding his money? Allegedly? Like, where. What's. What's the story of this hair?
Erica Jayne
No, there's no room to hide money in that hair because it's all up. But I think that her color is, like, within an inch of being, like, ultraviolet. You know what I mean? Like, her color is, like, just really platinum, which I don't mind. Like, I love a good platinum. But I was like, wow, that shit is. She looks great. I mean, she looks damn near the same as 15 years ago or however many years ago I did not like the fact I know we're speaking out of sequence. I don't Care. I didn't like the fact that when they got to hot pot, there was no build between Tamara and Gretchen. It was immediately into conflict. I didn't want to see that. I didn't need to see that.
Matt Lafferty
Well, do you feel like they needed to?
Erica Jayne
I don't know whose choice that was, but I would have liked to have seen a little bit more build before we go at each other.
Matt Lafferty
Yeah, well, we'll get into it when we get there. Right. But since we're on Gretchen real quick as well, I want to ask you, because she makes a comment that she has not had any plastic surgery done.
Erica Jayne
Then that's some hell of a preservation. Maybe she hasn't. I mean, look, I don't know. If she hasn't, good for her. And if she doesn't want to tell, good for her, you know, who cares?
Matt Lafferty
Right?
Erica Jayne
Whatever. You know, And Katie telling Shannon that she appreciates Shannon sticking up for her when she felt like everybody was, you know, going after her. Number one. Hey, Shannon, you've been on this show a really long time, and you know how this goes, so to say. I don't like seeing somebody gang up. We don't either, but that's kind of how this thing works. This is the game. So you can say you don't like it, but you've been a, you know, a participant of it and a victim of it, and you're going to do it again.
Matt Lafferty
Shannon knew what she was doing, though.
Erica Jayne
Of course she did. And just falls flat.
Matt Lafferty
And I also wanna say for Emily, our friend Emily at the podcast, I would love for my husband to leave behind In N Out Burger everywhere he goes. That would be a dream marriage for me.
Erica Jayne
That would be fine. I like Shane. Right? I like Shane. He seems sweet. And I really worry that, you know, Emily's really going through it with Luke, and I feel badly for that, but you see how men and women handle things differently in the car.
Matt Lafferty
Well, when you get to that scene, I have a qu. I have a question I'm gonna ask you. Okay, but anything else that you want to say about this? Because we have. Tamara thinks Katie is guilty on everything. They're talking about the blogger still.
Erica Jayne
I do, too.
Matt Lafferty
Yeah. And I mean, we.
Erica Jayne
I did too, experience shows like, this is not a good thing to do. Katie, stop talking to the bloggers. Just. Just do the show. Just do the show. And then I loved it when Gina was like. And I like Gina. Gina got in. She was like, I feel bad. I brought her into this group. Well.
Matt Lafferty
Well, you know how bringing people into the group on the show is, though.
Erica Jayne
But still, it makes you look bad because then they say you brought them here.
Matt Lafferty
Right, Right. So you're, like, associated with them no matter what for the whole tenure.
Erica Jayne
No matter whether you did or did not.
Matt Lafferty
So. But Tamara drops the bomb on. On Jean and Emily about Katie recording Shannon at the.
Erica Jayne
Which is dirty.
Matt Lafferty
Right? Do you think that I'm gonna tell.
Erica Jayne
You right now, if one of my castmates did that shit to me, you'd be out. Like. And I also think that our cast. Nobody would trust you. Like, that is just not okay in any way possible. Being on the phone with your husband, recording it, sharing it with him. Like, why. Why do you have many things I've seen and I've heard about people that I work with that I don't do? Like, that's just. What are you doing that for? There's nothing good. There's no good motivation behind that. Oh, I was just, you know. No, I just don't like any of this behavior because it's really talking to bloggers you're recording your cast mates for.
Matt Lafferty
What do you think that she just felt out of her depth? Because she says no.
Erica Jayne
I feel like she has bad coaching. I feel like she. Yeah. I'm going to tell you what I really think. I've seen chicks I don't fucking know because I don't know this woman. But I'm going to tell you this. I've seen women come in and think that this is a game and it's some sort of chess thing. And look, guys, show up and be yourself. Navigate around the moment you try to outfox a producer or outfox your castmates or. I got one up on you. Number one, producers hate you. Number two, your castmates fucking really hate you. And number three, you're not doing what. What you're supposed to be doing, which is entertaining. You know, you're not here to, like, it's not the CIA. Like, we're not here to do, like, spy games or the FBI. Yeah, or the FBI. I mean, well, that's a different situation, but that's not what you're doing as a housewife. You're there to be in the moment developing relationships, whether they're good, bad, but, like, gathering information to lay out on somebody. Well, I know this. It's like, I don't want to work with somebody like that. I just don't want to work with somebody like, now I'm immediately shut down. I won't talk to you. Yeah.
Matt Lafferty
Do you think that Tamra was Smart in giving the information to Jean and Emily in the hopes that they would bring it to the group instead of doing it herself.
Erica Jayne
Well, I think that. Yes. I mean, it's softer if it's Gina and Emily, as opposed to Tamara, who, even though she's right, is going to get a harsh response. Does that make sense? Yeah. So, yes. And, I mean, I don't know if that's thought out or whatever, but it is a softer way to deliver it. Yeah. Which doesn't hurt because, you know, Tamara drives this show.
Matt Lafferty
Right?
Erica Jayne
Tamara drives this show. And by the way, she's all they talk about. I was about to say they handed her the show last in this episode. Just so you know, ladies, you hand Tamara judge the show every fucking time you do this. And she sits there and smiles like.
Matt Lafferty
A fox and takes it on the chin, man. I'll say.
Erica Jayne
Takes it on the chin and moves it along. It's just, you know, you guys are just handing her the show.
Matt Lafferty
Yeah. I will say for Tamara, you know, she's going to therapy, which is great, and she's working on herself. I. I do wish her therapist would tell her to. To stop with the trucker hats. Tamara, if you're listening. Yeah, the trucker hat. She wears them for the.
Erica Jayne
Yeah, we don't need trucker hats right now. Gary Von Dutch. It had a little bit of a resurgence. The Y2K moment had a bit of a resurgence. And I just, you know, I'm not. I'm not big on the trucker hat vibe.
Matt Lafferty
No, they always say something, but that means that.
Erica Jayne
Listen. But I also like people having an identity. So there is something like. If you're talking about her trucker hat, she's clearly associated with trucker hats.
Matt Lafferty
Hopefully there's not a fire during this podcast.
Erica Jayne
I mean, what else could. You know? It's interesting because there's like an aura of chaos around our group that is legit. I don't know what consciousness we're tapped into. I'm really trying to figure it out. I'm watching every podcast I know to how to tap into some better shit. And I just keep coming up.
Matt Lafferty
I, you know, I think it's hilarious. If you're listening and you can hear that beep, I think it's Jesus is here with us, and he's beeping through the fire detector. He wants to know that this podcast is a phenomenal one.
Erica Jayne
This podcast is blessed from above.
Matt Lafferty
I. All I want to say about the scene with Shannon and her daughter that we get with them going through the fridge Is that. That was extremely relatable to me because I had just traveled home to Pittsburgh recently, and my mom tried to feed us eggs that expired in November of 2024.
Erica Jayne
Yeah. Shannon's refrigerator looks just like Min. Mine's worse. Mine looks like a fraternity house. Oh. Like cold pizza. Like, I've had some people look in there that were like. And these were, you know, like males. Like, my son was like, what the fuck is in here? Are you gonna die? Like, what is this? Like, there's, you know, there's nothing in my refrigerator.
Matt Lafferty
Okay. So cold pizza. Is there beer?
Erica Jayne
No. No.
Matt Lafferty
Oh, there's probably lots of coke, a cola.
Erica Jayne
I don't. I didn't say, what the fuck are you talking about? Well, don't look at me. Probably lots of Coke. That was so shady. Cola. Yes, there are Coca Colas in my refrigerator because, you know, sometimes kids keep coke in the fridge. And then I have some Perrier for my fancy friends that come over. Like Rachel Zoe who just came over the other day, who, by the way, I really like.
Matt Lafferty
Okay, well, that's good to know. I don't know if I can ask you. I would love to dig into Real House, like Beverly Hills as an aside.
Erica Jayne
But I can't say. Say much. But I can say I like Rachel.
Matt Lafferty
Oh, clock that.
Erica Jayne
Yeah.
Matt Lafferty
If you had. If you didn't clock that, clock that.
Erica Jayne
I did like Rachel. I think she's. She's really good. She's good tv and she's good. She's cool person. But my. My refrigerator is not much better than Shannon's. And I loved watching her daughter come home, and I love it that her daughter is in New York City living her best life. I actually enjoyed that.
Matt Lafferty
I think they have a fun relationship to watch.
Erica Jayne
I enjoy seeing that because it was just enough. It was just enough. It was positive. And I like that. I like a quick check in with the kids.
Matt Lafferty
Yeah, I agree with you.

Matt Lafferty
Well, speaking of kids, the next scene we get is is Shane and Emily having their heartbreaking drive after Emily's therapy. Now there's a lot of chatter online, so I'll ask you how you feel about it. There are people who feel like Emily shouldn't be talking about this on camera. So for you, as someone who is on a show like this, do you agree, disagree, like, what are the pros and cons of speaking about your child's disorder on camera that'll last forever?
Erica Jayne
I have two versions of this. I didn't speak about a child, so I understand. You know, children are the most protected thing. But when I spoke about my own mental health journey and my own therapy and what I was doing to kind of like, you know, get myself back on track, I received a lot of messages saying, thank you for talking about it and showing us that or showing the audience that, number one, things happen to everybody. And perhaps, you know, I understand why people would say, don't speak about your child. But also, what if there are families that are going through the same thing and bringing awareness to something like this? Ultimately, if you help one person, I think is wonderful. But I think that, you know, talking about things rips all of the shame away from them. I don't know. Obviously, it's individual. I get it. I understand both sides. I really do. But bringing awareness to something like this can help.
Matt Lafferty
Yeah, I agree with you. I mean, it's her child, and she is going through the situation. I think seeing her and Shane deal with it and seeing how they react to things differently is also an interesting thing.
Erica Jayne
That's a male, female thing.
Matt Lafferty
Is it?
Erica Jayne
When I watched that scene, I watched a male brain and a female brain. I didn't watch husbands and wives not getting along. I just saw the way a mother processes things and a way a father processes things, and I didn't think that either one was wrong. You know, I. I didn't. I. You know, it's a really sensitive situation, and mothers and fathers process things differently, and males and females process it. Things differently.
Matt Lafferty
Yeah, I. I agree with you, though, that it's something that isn't talked about a lot. It was interesting to know that this is a disorder that even exists. Right.
Erica Jayne
Clearly this exists.
Matt Lafferty
Yeah.
Erica Jayne
And I'm sure that she's not alone and Luke's not alone, and perhaps you can shed some light on that and maybe. Maybe help someone.
Matt Lafferty
Yeah. And I think for. As a. As somebody who's been a fan of the shows for so long and. And the fandom kind of, especially if they're not on someone's side per se, during a season, they want to find fault in things. But guys, if. If there's someone out there who is seeing someone on TV dealing with something that they are dealing with that they aren't Able to maybe talk about or don't know how to express themselves, and they can feel seen and see, like, oh, other people go through this. It's always a positive.
Erica Jayne
Or, you know, Emily's also well spoken and educated, and I'm sure that she will be out there, you know, helping to bring awareness to this. I'm sure of it. And there are others out there. I'm sure this exists.
Matt Lafferty
People magazine spread. So, yeah, she is. She's using her platform.
Erica Jayne
How about this? How about we leave Emily, Luke, and Shane alone?
Matt Lafferty
Correct? Amen.
Erica Jayne
Just leave them alone.
Matt Lafferty
So then we go, and Gretchen enters the scene for the first time. Our girl Gretchen with her hair.
Erica Jayne
Gretchen with the platinum hair.
Matt Lafferty
So what is your view on Slade? You're like, what's your. When he walks on the. On the screen, what. What happens to you? Does your butthole tense up a little bit or.
Erica Jayne
Well, I can't say that, but I don't see it either way. Look, for whatever reason, let me just say this clearly. Gretchen and Slade have a relationship that has lasted. I did not know that Slade's son had passed away from a brain tumor. That's heartbreaking. I know that. You know, I didn't know that they weren't. They were. They had not gotten married. I know they share a daughter. I don't care. Like, I'm not really. Either way.
Matt Lafferty
Katie and Matt hosting. Gretchen, Slade, Jen and Ryan. Right?
Erica Jayne
Yeah. And it was a good old Tamra fest. I mean, you guys, again, you know, everybody's talking about Tamara. Good for you, Tam.
Matt Lafferty
Right? Like, it's just the very first thing you bring up. So you. You almost are making it more rel. She's. You're making her more relevant.
Erica Jayne
Well, you only reason the six of you are sitting there is because of Tamara Judge. Right? Because that's the only. That's what brought you guys together. And when you do that, it becomes Tamara show.
Matt Lafferty
And also, let's not forget that Tamara was let go from the show, and two seasons of the show went on, and then they asked Tamara to come back. Gretchen was let go from the show, and 1 million seasons went on before Gretchen was asked back. So I think we should just let that be known, that there's a reason why Tamara Judge was brought back very quickly to the show after her long tenure.
Erica Jayne
Yeah. And whether you like Tamara or dislike Tamara, bottom line is we're on a show watching, you know, conflict. And Tamara brings a lot to the show. So much so that six people get together who really don't know each other. And talk about her.
Matt Lafferty
There is something I need.
Erica Jayne
Am I right?
Matt Lafferty
No, you're 100. Right. And people are probably going to be like, oh, God, just someone else filling in for Teddy to stand up for her.
Erica Jayne
I'm not standing up for Tamara.
Matt Lafferty
No. But me. I'm just.
Erica Jayne
And I don't like what Tamara said about Slade's child. Regardless. Like, I don't care. And there are times that I don't like Tamara's behavior. And I will say that. Like, come on, girl. Like, stop. You don't need to push that hard. That's ridiculous. However, you cannot deny the fact that she's drawing all of that to her.
Matt Lafferty
There is a reason why she's the longest running housewife.
Erica Jayne
Yeah. And so, I mean, love her or hate her, she's pulling it in.
Matt Lafferty
So, real quick, we need to discuss Jen or Gretchen saying that every new housewife reaches out to her to discuss Tamra. Because there is this screenshot that we have from Jen's previous season. She had posted about Tamara and Gretchen initially. Comments.
Erica Jayne
So Gretchen reached out in the comments section, as opposed to. I know this feeling all too well. I'm sorry you're blindsided. I never really understood why certain cast members think other people's relationships are any of their business or that they have any say in them. It's weird. Empathetic. Stay strong, girl. And then Jen responded. You definitely have walked in these shoes. It's not easy, as you know. Thank you for reaching out. Let's connect. I would not give this woman that much, much power.
Matt Lafferty
So. And now. So, you know, why don't they see that on Instagram? Jen then put up her receipt where she then DM'd Gretchen. But this interaction in the comments happened first, and then Jen DM'd Gretchen, and Gretchen sent her her phone number.
Erica Jayne
And I'm sure they got together and said what they talked about.
Matt Lafferty
Camera judge.
Erica Jayne
I know, but what are you gonna do? Like, roll? You're on a. You're on a. You're on a. An ensemble cast. Roll with the punches.
Matt Lafferty
Yeah. We'll talk more about Gretchen and Jen in a minute, but I have to ask you, as someone who loves the straight man, did you catch Matt, Katie's husband, picking up the wooden spoon and going, what's this for? To smack that ass?
Erica Jayne
Yeah, it was a little stiff and awkward. Don't do that.
Matt Lafferty
Why? You're. He's like 58 years old.
Erica Jayne
Well, I'm 54 and I'll smack that ass.
Matt Lafferty
I would actually let you smack that ass.
Erica Jayne
Come over to My house and see what happens. Yeah, I'm not shy. But you know what?
Matt Lafferty
Never mind. I take it back because I'm about to go get a wooden spoon and.
Erica Jayne
Give it to Erica right now on him. It seems a little awkward.
Matt Lafferty
No, it's not. It seemed forced. It was like at a dinner party. And it's like, why are you like. It was weird to me.
Erica Jayne
Well, I also don't like the. Hey, they all ganged up on Katie.
Matt Lafferty
Oh, yeah.
Erica Jayne
That I didn't like. Hey, Matt, Katie brought that on herself, so we can't have the. And this is what happens. I hate husbands on these shows. I fucking hate them, and I'll tell you why. This is women's business. Don't get involved in women's business. Like the great Nene Leake said, don't get involved in women's business. Stay the fuck out of it.
Matt Lafferty
And the same for the shady gays, okay? We don't need you shady gays causing problems.
Erica Jayne
I mean, I think the shady gays are good for quick reads. Like, y' all do have a good reads. I'm a. I'm a tolerate gays. I'll tell you why. Sometimes y' all are better than housewives.
Matt Lafferty
Well, they can pop in and give. Give a little quick humor or two.
Erica Jayne
We don't need them driving stuff for the gays. Getting these chicks together with their hair, makeup, glam, and their quick reads. These shows would be bland, and I said it.
Matt Lafferty
All right? So, Erica, if you need me to come on Beverly Hills and Drive Story, just let me know.
Erica Jayne
I shall. Do you want me to DM you later? Want me to slide into your DMs, Matt, and ask you what should I do with this? Because God knows I. You know, I mean, but it's true. I mean, listen, we need gays. We don't need straight men. You guys need to watch football and. Or wrestling or something else. Just stay out of women's business. And I'm not in. But gay men are welcome here because they have a unique perspective and unique skill that y' all ain't got.
Matt Lafferty
You know what we need straight men for on the show? There is one.
Erica Jayne
Nothing.
Matt Lafferty
No, I.
Erica Jayne
Money. Backdrop, props, set. You know, that's what we need from y'. All.
Matt Lafferty
Notice. Sit silently while the housewife downloads on what happens. And the man can pretend.
Erica Jayne
I don't want to bore my head. I remember being married and Tom just looking at me like, what the fuck? Like, I. Girl, shut up. I don't want to bother some man at home with. And Then she said, as if you.
Matt Lafferty
Didn'T call from the ride home. Like, could you believe what this bitch said about me?
Erica Jayne
I called from the ride home the other day.
Matt Lafferty
To who?
Erica Jayne
No, that's a whole other story. My gaze.
Matt Lafferty
Put me on that group chat.
Erica Jayne
You know what? I. You know what? Actually, hold on a second. I should have picked up the phone.
Matt Lafferty
And called you, but while we're at Katie and Matt's, were intercut with Heather coming over to Tamara's house.
Erica Jayne
What's going on with the floor? And why is that being drilled up?
Matt Lafferty
She said it was overflow from a sink.
Erica Jayne
Oh, that's right. I guess it must have ruined all the tile water damage.
Matt Lafferty
Is that. Is that as bad? Overflowing of a sink could destroy just the whole kitchen.
Erica Jayne
I mean, I guess if it sat. I don't know.
Matt Lafferty
I don't know. I rent, so I don't guess what.
Erica Jayne
I rent too. I'm a renter too. Oh, my God. You know, wow. We rent. Okay. But you know what I did like about this was when Tamara got into her single White female about Jen and then and she pulled up that old Instagram photo and she said that her lips look like hot dogs. And I just thought that was like, look, we've all had a few pokes and pricks and whatever. You know, Jen's sweet and cute, but Tamara was being Tamara. And then she even had her old extensions put in. Like Tamara went for her. She read her down like the used.
Matt Lafferty
Isn't that like a health code violation?
Erica Jayne
You can't do that.
Matt Lafferty
Like, they just.
Erica Jayne
You can't use used hair that came out of my hair and put it on somebody else's hair.
Matt Lafferty
Like, who is this hair girl that took out Tamara's extensions? Like, you know what?
Erica Jayne
What is this? What's that Health co violation. We're gonna have to send the health and beauty people over there immediately. Oh, the workout pictures as well. And then she called her heavy. But, you know, it was Heather who I love, who really is pulled back. She looked at Jen shoes that Instagram post and was like, not the dsw. Exactly. What the hell? I saw her absolute. She was repulsed and I clocked it. And I was like, she's looking at this girl's shoes. And she's like, dam was focused on the lips.
Matt Lafferty
What are those sleeves called? The pumple Poof.
Erica Jayne
What are they called? Bad. And Jen's gotten her look together and she's adorable. And then they cut to the bikini thing where she's crushing it. But my God. And we all have bad pictures. I'm not saying I don't. God knows there are enough of me. But in that moment, just Heather's face was just repulsed by their shoes. The DSW vibes. And they were. They were like some cork. I don't know. Well, they looked like cork wedges but with a heel.
Matt Lafferty
Oh, and they think they were like a nude color.
Erica Jayne
Yes. Like, you know, I don't even want to say, but because, oh, my God, it was just a bad look and they did that on purpose. And, you know, it was like bad hair color. It was before Jen got her look together. She's got her look together. She looks great. She's adorable. We love to see it. But that picture was.
Matt Lafferty
Yeah, we love a glow up.
Erica Jayne
Everybody has a glow up. Everybody gets a glow up.
Matt Lafferty
Tamara brings up how Gretchen had reached.
Erica Jayne
Out to reach out to her daughter. I don't like that either.
Matt Lafferty
Yeah, do you? So we get into semantics later, which we can talk about in this.
Erica Jayne
Don't.
Matt Lafferty
Reality in this scene. Right.
Erica Jayne
What is this show without semantics? Semantics.
Matt Lafferty
But it just seems like Gretchen was perpetually living in the comments her entire time off the show, which I don't.
Erica Jayne
Like, let it live on the show.
Matt Lafferty
Well, I mean, do you think she was. Has been trying to get back on the show for years? Is that why she's in these comments? Like what?
Erica Jayne
Yeah, it's kind of like how Camille will comment and no shade to Camille. But, you know, you do that to, you know, keep your. Keep your presence alive. I wonder what this title. If I was sitting there as I was taking my notes on this, I was like, I should. I hope they titled this fucking episode Hot Pot. Maybe they didn't.
Matt Lafferty
I didn't even. I didn't even see what they titled it. First off, getting hot in the hot Pot.
Erica Jayne
First off, I've never been to a hot pot, but I've heard all about it. But it doesn't look like my vibe. All right, so the girls arrive for Katie's hot pot lunch, and Tamara reintroduces herself to Gretchen. And immediately they get at it. And I'm just like.
Matt Lafferty
Well, first we have to do the Shannon and Katie thing first. Because they. We get to where Gina lets the bomb out. That.
Erica Jayne
Why do I like Gina so much?
Matt Lafferty
It must be the vocal fry. I don't know.
Erica Jayne
I think it's just the jersey.
Matt Lafferty
Is it?
Erica Jayne
Or is Long island wherever the fuck she's from? I don't know. I just think it's funny I brought that. I don't know. I love it. I kind of like it.
Matt Lafferty
Can you do the rest of this podcast in your Gina impersonation?
Erica Jayne
No, I cannot.
Matt Lafferty
That's.
Erica Jayne
And that's not even a good one.
Matt Lafferty
Cartman meets like Family Guy.
Erica Jayne
Well, you know that. That's what they say I sound like is Cartman.
Matt Lafferty
Do they?
Erica Jayne
Yes. No, no, no, no, no, no. And I'm like, okay, that's fine.
Matt Lafferty
Wait, I didn't know that. But now that's hilarious.
Erica Jayne

Matt Lafferty
But in a flashback, we get where Katie admits that she did call the blogger with Tamara.
Erica Jayne
Yeah.
Matt Lafferty
And it's those kind of scenes for me as a viewer, I'm like, why? And you, I would love for you to give me a reasoning. Why is that? Did we not get the actual scene there? Because I felt like it was vital information.
Erica Jayne
You mean, why did you only just get that one segment?
Matt Lafferty
We just got the little bit of a flashback.
Erica Jayne
Yeah. Because that's the only piece that worked. Because you have to. Some. A lot of times you have to talk around everything in order to get one sentence that explains what we been doing for three hours. Okay. And that's the most important thing. And I love a flashback because it does remind the viewers, hey, she really did say this.
Matt Lafferty
Well, that was the first time she admitted it, though.
Erica Jayne
Right.
Matt Lafferty
But do you think it kind of gets brushed over then, that we don't really get the full effect of, like, oh, shit, Katie was lying.
Erica Jayne
Well, if you don't get the oh, shit, Katie was lying from the statement, I don't know how I can help you.
Matt Lafferty
Okay.
Erica Jayne
Do you see what I'm saying? Like, I don't really need much more than that. My personality, like, when I look at shit, I'm like, that's what I was looking for the entire fucking time. Now I know you are a liar.
Matt Lafferty
Well, and then she lies again.
Erica Jayne
Yeah. Which. This is a problem for that cast. I mean, those. Those women in that group, Like, I feel as if, you know, you're gonna. For me. I know that. And I think I would speak for my cast, like, you're starting to put. We would put Katie at arm's length. Like, no. Not talking to you about anything. Not. It's going to be real surface with you. Well, very surface with you. Because there's a certain. And people don't understand this. Like, there's a certain level of trust amongst a group of women. When you film this show. Now, I don't know how it's done in Orange County. I do know how it's done in Beverly Hills. I know that the older castmates in Atlanta, you know, even though it looked like they all hated each other and were ready to kill each other, there were some of them that were really close. Can't speak for New York. I know Dorinda's cool and, you know, and Dolores and Melissa, like, you know, I. You just don't trust somebody like that.
Matt Lafferty
But here's.
Erica Jayne
Does that make sense.
Matt Lafferty
Yeah, I understand. I understand what you're saying, and I get. I think it's different because you're in it, but watching almost feels like. Because I feel like we're going to a point where they're gonna ice Katie out. Right. And it feels. Gives the cast almost too much power in a reality show situation where they're dictating who can film.
Erica Jayne
No, no, Katie shouldn't have done it. You can do it once. You can't do it multiple times. Yeah, you can make a mistake. You can stumble, stumble. But you cannot repeatedly do this when you see this done, as. It's not about who can film. It's about that person over there. I don't want to work with that. Not. I don't want to work with that. That's not fair. But, like, I don't. I'm not. I'm not revealing. Why would I be vulnerable in front of that person? Why. Why would I say anything. Why would I reveal anything that's, you know, important to me, to her?
Matt Lafferty
I get that.
Erica Jayne
Does that make sense? You have to trust the women that are in the circle with you. Right.
Matt Lafferty
But in the world of Housewives, isn't it part of the job? We'll call it to almost use. I get what Katie did. She. So Katie recorded somebody without their knowledge, which is very shady. And then she went to a blogger to talk shit about. About Tamara. But haven't all Housewives at some point. No, not. Not done something like that, but done something wrong towards another member of the show, of the cast?
Erica Jayne
Of course we have. But you can't repeatedly do it to every member of the cast and expect these women to trust you. She's picked off every single one of them.
Matt Lafferty
Yeah. I mean, yeah. I just think you can't.
Erica Jayne
What she's doing is isolating herself. She's gonna be alone on an island with a bunch of, what, blogger friends? And also, like, production doesn't like that shit. Don't be ratting.
Matt Lafferty
Well, it destroyed a show. It destroyed Jersey, the blogger situation.
Erica Jayne
Right. So you can't do that. Like, we're not. That's not what we're here for.
Matt Lafferty
Right. I hear you. I'm glad to get your perspective, because I feel like, as viewers, we see it as, like, not. I'm not. I don't like the word. I don't want to gang up or anything, but as it was like on Vanderpump Rules, almost where they didn't want to film with Tom, and it's like, well, you're on a Show together. You should be filming with the people on the show, is what I'm trying to say. Like.
Erica Jayne
Yeah, you should, but you should also trust the people that you're filming with. That that's what they're going to do, is film with you and not go another route and tell the show.
Matt Lafferty
Gotcha.
Erica Jayne
You see what I'm saying? Like, if I got on the phone and I said, you're never going to believe what happened on Friday night, which I could, but I don't. If I got on the phone and said, ooh, you're never going to believe what happened on Friday night with the new people, is that cool?
Matt Lafferty
No, but that's exactly what I would prefer you start doing with me.
Erica Jayne
I cannot do that. Contractually, I cannot do that. And. And it's just you put yourself in weird places, like, it's not worth it. Just enjoy the show for what it is. Yeah. You know, and then you have your chance to lay everybody out later.
Matt Lafferty
So your girl Gina Cartman reveals the information that Katie recorded Shannon at the gallery shoot, Right?
Erica Jayne
Yep.
Matt Lafferty
Which was told to her by Tamara Judge. So do you. Was Gina just doing her job there? Like, do you think she. What?
Erica Jayne
All of it. Gina brought Katie into the group, which gives her the perfect reason to say this. Tamara did the right thing by handing it off to Gina because it's a softer delivery. Then Tamara doesn't look like the hammer all the time.
Matt Lafferty
Right.
Erica Jayne
And maybe Gina, you know, look, nobody feels good in this situation, so I don't really care about that. That's pretty, like, kind of the way it is.
Matt Lafferty
I'll tell you what pissed me off is, Shannon, I need you to stay in the scene.
Erica Jayne
Oh, don't leave. That bothered me. Did it bother you?
Matt Lafferty
Yes.
Erica Jayne
I didn't like it either. I didn't like it either. I did not like it either.
Matt Lafferty
Why are you. I don't even understand why you were allowed. Like, this is where I'm, like, production should have stepped in and be like, can you at least have the conversation of, like, why. Why did you record me? What were you, like?
Erica Jayne
What was the gain? What were you going to do with that? Why would you do that? What made you think that was okay? Hey, you kn. I was in a lawsuit with these people. Like, what are you doing?
Matt Lafferty
And I think it was your girl.
Erica Jayne
Who was like, I love the way you said my girl. I stick up for Gina once. She's my fucking girl. Hey, Gina, just so you know, I don't stick up for anybody.
Matt Lafferty
She's like, shannon, you leaving Shows growth. I'm like, no, it doesn't show growth. It shows that she's afraid of being outed as someone who's a lunatic off camera, in my opinion.
Erica Jayne
Well, I also think that it's just not doing your job. It could be two things. A lunatic, off camera, on camera, all of it.
Matt Lafferty
I mean, we know Shannon likes to run away from multiple situations.
Erica Jayne
I'm tired of housewives running. Shannon, everybody. Including my own.
Matt Lafferty
Oh, have we had a runoff this season?
Erica Jayne
Yeah, Amy. But yeah.
Matt Lafferty
So Gretchen takes this as an opportunity to say, who told you that? And Gina's like, well, Tamara didn't. And Gretchen, of course, uses it to villainize Tamara.
Erica Jayne
And then they get into it, and I didn't need that from you, Gretchen. I wanted to like you for five minutes. I know why you're there, and you're gonna get your moment and you're gonna do a great job, but just this one hot pot thing, like, let this just be between the women that were actually there. Does that make sense? Yeah, just let it be between the cast that was there.
Matt Lafferty
Well, she just couldn't wait to get in Tamara's ass, Right?
Erica Jayne
Exactly. And you have all the time in the world to get in her ass.
Matt Lafferty
Can you do me a big favor? God to camera. Do you remember what Gretchen said when Tamara said she reached out to her daughter and Gretchen said she just commented on Facebook. It's become a big meme on the Internet.
Erica Jayne
Is it? In my notes, what did she say?
Matt Lafferty
She goes, it's not the same thing. And then they stood on her face for like a good 85 seconds.
Erica Jayne
No, I can't do other people's lines.
Matt Lafferty
I think you've already done a very good Gina today.
Erica Jayne
Yeah, but that was because I wanted to.
Matt Lafferty
Do you think it's the same thing?
Erica Jayne
No.
Matt Lafferty
So you don't. So you disagree with Tamara. So Tamara says Gretchen reached out to her daughter, and Gretchen says, I commented on a Facebook post.
Erica Jayne
Yeah, you shouldn't. Yes. Bottom line is reaching out. It could be conceived. Yes. I can see why Tamara said you reached out to her. Don't need to be commenting to kids and stuff like that. No.
Matt Lafferty
It's weird behavior, in my opinion, especially when there's. I mean, but so then Gretchen brings.
Erica Jayne
Up, which I'm tired of the 15 year old beef. Find something new. I'm sorry? Find something in the present day because you had to send me that whole thing as to why these two fell out. And personally, I don't really care because it's just too far along. Nobody in the, like, the point of, and I believe the point of these shows, season after season, you fall out, you make up, you fall out, you make up, you have different friendships, different experiences is because you stay in the moment. I don't want to see Gretchen enter with 15 year old beef. I don't care.
Matt Lafferty
Right.
Erica Jayne
I'm trying just to get through yesterday.
Matt Lafferty
Let me give you a little background, though. So in 2023, the People magazine article came out where Slade's ex wife, Michelle had revealed that he owed all this money in back child support and he wasn't helping with their son's. Their son's medical bills, which is.
Erica Jayne
Look, that's a tragedy.
Matt Lafferty
But we covered it. I will say as a producer on this podcast, Tamara has not wanted. She doesn't even want to bring Gretchen up, but it was a big headline, so we covered it and she spoke her mind about it and then donated to the GoFundMe. And that's what Gretchen is bringing up on the show now is saying that Tamara talks about him badly on the podcast and it's like she was covering a People magazine story.
Erica Jayne
Well, that does. Yeah, that does fall in her job.
Matt Lafferty
I do want to talk. Ask you. So Gretchen says in her talking head that Tamara doesn't know how to have a real friendship.
Erica Jayne
We know. I don't know because I'm very. Not surface level, but you know, she's an acquaintance. I don't know Tamara very well. I can't say that I know Teddy is friends with Tamara.
Matt Lafferty
Right. Which I can say, I think, since you know her. Right. I know Tamara. We have a group chat with Teddi. I'm very close friends with Teddi. I don't know if people know this. We didn't really say it, but I've also gotten to know Tamara very well. Working on the show. Tamara and Teddy have a real friendship. Like I've seen like Blossom.
Erica Jayne
Yeah, they really do.
Matt Lafferty
Right. So I don't. Gretchen. I think Gretchen is just. She's been so wanting to get back on this show and she thinks her job is to just go after Tamra incessantly.
Erica Jayne
Well, she's back on the show and she did her job, which was immediately go after Tamra. And it's just, I mean. And we'll see where that goes.
Matt Lafferty
Did she do the job well so far, do you think?
Erica Jayne
I think she got her moments in. Do you?
Matt Lafferty
I have my own reservations about Gretchen for other things that I don't need to talk about on this podcast.
Erica Jayne
Okay, well, then that can color your opinion.
Matt Lafferty
There is one Final thing, I think.
Erica Jayne
We should discuss the hard boiled egg. That wasn't a hard boiled egg.
Matt Lafferty
Please, Jesus. Since he's been a part of this podcast, can you please help us with Emily sticking?
Erica Jayne
Yeah, I just think it's a. It's a. I'm gonna eat it on the way home.
Matt Lafferty
What restaurant would serve a hard boiled egg with the shell still on it?
Erica Jayne
Maybe a Hometown Buffet. I don't know. You know, I thought. I've never been to hot pot, so I thought it was a hard boiled egg. I would have been the dumb, dumb that thought it was. I didn't know you had to cook it.
Matt Lafferty
Who you. Have you ever tried to crack a hard boiled egg and peel it? It takes a good five minutes. Usually.
Erica Jayne
Yeah, but some are easier than others. I just think that I would have. I just. I'm not going to put a hard boiled egg or a real egg into my purse for later on the drive home.
Matt Lafferty
I just want to know how often you go to Hometown Buffet.
Erica Jayne
I've never been to Hometown Buffet, but if I. I would go just. I. I like a buffet.
Matt Lafferty
Have you been to the Golden Corral?
Erica Jayne
Yeah.
Matt Lafferty
Oh, you have?
Erica Jayne
Oh, yeah. I'm telling you, there was a Golden Corral by my house when I was little. And Betty Donna, that was like the names that they would call up to come get your meals. Betty Donna. Yep, I remember the Golden Corral. I. I can't believe they're still around.
Matt Lafferty
Wait to come get your meals.
Erica Jayne
Yeah, that was like what they would do to the server to come get their. The thing. Clearly. We went to the Golden Corral after church.
Matt Lafferty
We went to Applebee's.
Erica Jayne
I like an Applebee's. I like an Applebee's with those loaded desserts or whatever.
Matt Lafferty
Oh, they have the. Well, now I'm thinking of BJ's, the Pizookie. I mean, guys, I'm so glad that we could end this talking about all of the foods that we would be eating.
Erica Jayne
Yeah. Instead of hot pot, I'm gonna tell you, we could have gone to the Cracker Barrel.
Matt Lafferty
Oh, don't get me started on Cracker Barrel.
Erica Jayne
I ain't got to the chicken fried steak going. Well, I enjoyed this episode. And yeah, I mean, my great takeaway is, you know, I need to see Heather Dubrow more. Gina was cute. Gretchen's hair is blonde. She came in to do what she needed to do. Tamara, they're giving you the show. In my opinion. I don't fucking care what anybody says. Emily, I'm really sorry for Luke and your Shane's journey and I'm sure it'll be all worked out and sending you all the best. Jen. Glad you got the glow up. You look adorable. Katie, Bad way to isolate yourself on.
Matt Lafferty
The show and hit up DSW for all of your cork.
Erica Jayne
My God, dsw. Hit us up, send us some dollars. We might wear those cork shoes, you never know. Thank you guys for listening to two T's in a pod with myself, Erika Jayne and filling in for Ms. Teddy Mellencan, Matt Laffery.
Matt Lafferty
Thanks guys.

Date: July 22, 2025
Hosts: Erica Jayne (filling in), Matt Lafferty (filling in)
Original Hosts Absent: Teddi Mellencamp (out for medical reasons)
In this lively RHOC recap, Erica Jayne and comedian Matt Lafferty step in for the regular hosts, dissecting the latest drama surrounding the Real Housewives of Orange County. They dive into cast conflicts, questionable alliances, Housewife handbook faux pas, and, true to the episode's title, some unforgettable hair and cosmetic choices. Throughout, Erica brings her signature biting honesty and knowledge from her time on RHOBH, while Matt offers a sharp superfandom and plenty of comic relief.
Erica Jayne on new Housewives:
“I’ve seen women come in and think that this is a game and it’s some sort of chess thing. And look, guys, show up and be yourself...the moment you try to outfox a producer or outfox your castmates...Producers hate you. Your castmates really hate you.” [10:45]
On Tamra’s Immunity:
“Tamra drives this show. And by the way, she’s all they talk about...you hand Tamra Judge the show every fucking time you do this.” (Erica) [12:19-12:36]
About social-media “receipts”:
“Gretchen...do that to keep your presence alive.” (Erica) [35:08]
The “Hot Dog Lips” Moment:
“She pulled up that old Instagram photo and she said that her lips look like hot dogs...and then she even had her old extensions put in.” (Erica) [32:03]
On housewives’ trust:
“There’s a certain level of trust amongst a group of women. When you film this show...” (Erica) [43:53]
