Hi, guys. Welcome back to another episode of two T's in a Pod. And today I have a special co host, one of my cast members, and that is Katie.

[Katie]

Hi.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Thanks for having me.

[Katie]

This is so fun. Yeah.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Super easy. I know this is your first time, right? You have been a guest with Teddi once, caused a whole shitstorm. But we're not going to do that today. Okay.

[Katie]

It caused somebody to come up to me at Bravo Con and be like, I heard you talk about me. It was actually not me.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

It wasn't me. So I just want to catch up with you a little bit before we dive into Beverly Hills. Now this is going to be episode four. Recap. How was the holidays?

[Katie]

So easy. So good. We didn't travel. We were gonna go to Tahoe with the kids, and I have all the kids together, so I'm like, you know what? I just want to stay home and relax, watch movies, cook food, and that's what we did. It was so nice. What about you?

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Yeah, pretty much the same. Well, we did go to Big Bear, so we, you know, had family over Christmas Eve and extended family because now our kids are dating, so now, you know, they're moms and dads and all that stuff. It's really fun. And then Big Bear. And then did you hear Gina got engaged?

[Katie]

I did. That's amazing.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Yeah.

[Katie]

Yeah.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

I was actually in Big Bear when this happened, and I saw that she was there with her kids skiing and stuff and family time. So I was going to reach out to see if she wanted to do something or, you know, go meet for lunch or something, but I thought, oh, she's with her family and they have six kids, so.

[Katie]

They have six kids.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Yeah. But I was. I'm so excited. I'm so. She even made the Big Bear Facebook page.

[Katie]

They Have a Facebook page.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Big Bear has a Facebook page. And I look at it all the time to see what's going on, Weather conditions, things like that, you know, events that are going on. And I'm like, oh, there's Gina. I didn't expect Gina on the Facebook page, but, yeah, super happy for her. But other than that, just kind of kicking back, relaxing.

[Katie]

Yeah. Good. That's what we need. I feel like this time that's off. It's good. It's good.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

We're all just sitting around waiting, waiting for the. Waiting for the phone call. So. Yeah. So I'm glad everything was good. Now you're four kids. You have. Are they all with you now?

[Katie]

Max just went to Atlanta to see his dad, but we were all here together for the holidays. We took family photos, which I only get once a year to nail down all three of my teenagers or, you know, big kids. And one spot is impossible. So we got to take him. It was so nice. Aw.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Is it difficult having him so far away? It is.

[Katie]

I have to remind myself it's what makes him happy. It's what he wants. Yeah. Selfishly, I'm like, no, if that. You need to leave with love with me. But it's what he wants.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

And it's hard with divorce and kids splitting and all that kind of stuff. You know, the family splitting. The kids want to go here. They feel more comfortable here. Sophia was very much like that. She wanted to be with me, and her dad forced her to be there. And then eventually there was a big blowup, and she's been with me since she was 14, maybe 13. And Spencer? The same.

[Katie]

Yeah. I just. I feel like we have to let them make their decisions, you know? I want them to grow up knowing, like, I wanted what they wanted. I didn't want to force them to do anything.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Yeah. And in your situation, you have contact with your son, which makes it a lot easier with this, my situation and my divorce, my two kids that lived with me. Now Spencer obviously has. Has moved out. He's 25. They have no contact with her dad. And then I have very limited contact with Sydney. So it's. It's a stressful, hurtful.

[Katie]

Yes.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Situation.

[Katie]

But that's why I just cried through Christmas. I was so happy we were all together, you know, we were.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Yeah.

[Katie]

Uno. At the dinner table one night, and I was just crying the whole time, and the kids are like, just enjoy it. We're all here. Stop crying.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Yeah. How's Kylie doing? She's great.

[Katie]

She's great. She's At Fullerton. Loving life.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Is she at Cal State Fullerton?

[Special Agent Bradley Hall]

Yeah.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Okay. That's where Spencer went. And we're still trying to figure out the Sophia situation. Hurt now. She has a boyfriend now.

[Katie]

I saw.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Yes. Very serious boyfriend. Love him to death. He is just so cool. And he goes to Cal State Fullerton.

[Katie]

Oh, amazing.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

And so Spencer lives out there in that area, but he in Brea area. And now Sophia wants to go. She. She's trying to finish up her General Ed, and then they both want to move to New York.

[Katie]

So do I. I.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

So do I. I just. You know what? I want a house everywhere.

[Katie]

So do I.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

And then here I am bitching. It's hard to manage to have a house in Big Bear in Orange County. But that, that would be so nice. In fact, at the reunion I was talking to Andy about, I kind of want to buy a house. Like, apartment, like, nothing fancy.

[Katie]

Well, Matt lived in New York City for 22 years working. And when we were there last for watch what happens, I was like, come on, let's just buy a small place. We can come here in the summers and the falls with the kids. And he's like, I don't know. I lived there for 22 years.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

You know, it's a place that I love to go for maybe an extended period of time, but I don't know about living there.

[Katie]

Yeah, not full time.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

No. So, yeah. So my girlfriend Shelly, who I was in real estate with years ago, she's still in real estate. She bought a place during COVID Got a hell of a deal. Pre War Building, $700,000, two bedroom.

[Katie]

Yeah, I know.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

You know, and it's right across the street from Central Park.

[Katie]

Oh, my God, that was so smart.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

I know, I know. So good. But you know where they get you over there? Hoas insanity.

[Katie]

Yes, of course. And if you have a car, you're fucked.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Yeah. So let's dive in to Beverly Hills. Okay. You're all caught up, right? You've watched all four episodes.

[Katie]

And I will say it's so weird watching now, you know, two years now, now having filmed and doing a season myself to, well, season and a half. And now, like watching it again. It's, it's. I totally watch it from a different perspective.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Absolutely. That's kind of why me and Teddi wanted to do this podcast, is because you have, you know, more than the audience knows.

[Katie]

Yeah.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

You know, how things work and. But, you know, we really recap it as viewers most of the time. Like sometimes we'll put in our two cents about I don't know if that's really what happened, but we just, as viewers, like, I appreciate all the Housewives. Obviously, I love more. Some more than others, but Beverly Hills has always been one of my favorite shows. So it starts out where Jennifer goes over to Sutton's. Sutton has changed her drinking habits. Now, this is something I did not think I was going to see because for so many seasons she has been called out, and she's always denied and gotten upset about it. So I love that she's being so open about it, and she's like, now, you know, I've reevaluated. I'm drinking more water. I'm trying to get more. Like, it looks like she's trying to get more into fitness.

[Katie]

Yes. And, you know, I've known Sutton for a little while, and I have drank with her every single time, and we've gotten really drunk together, you know, And I think at some points in life, everyone takes this moment like, oh, maybe we should get a little healthier. Especially now it's 2026. People are doing dry January. I think it's good for her. I really do.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Yeah. Do you think that she's doing it because of the past and how the girls were saying she had a drinking problem and she's trying to prove them wrong? Does she really think that? I don't even know if she truly does. Do you think this is because of the shit she might have gotten on social media?

[Katie]

I mean, maybe, but maybe it was good things to hear. You know, they're around a lot, and so maybe they pointed some things out that she needed to hear.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

I mean, the bottom line is, whatever it was or whatever it took, she got to a place where she's at now, and she's trying to make, you know, some positive changes in her life, and we gotta commend her for that. Now, Sutton tells Jennifer that she planned a trip to Sedona and chartered a plane. And all I could think was, I just want to charter a plane and go to Sedona or go anywhere.

[Katie]

Well, I like how Jennifer was like, well, it should be relaxing, but it's not gonna be relaxing, but we'll still have fun.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Don't you think Jennifer Tilly is like a breath of fre. Fresh air on that show?

[Katie]

I love her. I love how real and honest she is. I love when she sat in that chair and said, you know, maybe I'm jumping ahead. But she said, sutton's like that wheel with the fireworks going off, because that's how I feel having known Sutton and having in social situations, she's kind of like a spinning wheel of fire, and you kind of don't know which spark is going to hit you. So I liked that Jennifer said that.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Well, if I remember correctly, at the reunion, there was something said our reunion, about setting in your friendship or something.

[Amanda Knox]

Right.

[Katie]

Yeah, we remember the way. Let me back up. Sutton and I hosted a party together in Augusta for the masters in whatever year that was. 2024, I think. Yeah. And we remember the operations of that party a lot differently. Gotcha. So she took her side and told Heather, and Heather brought it up like it was a dig in me at the time. And I think that some sparks hit me at that party, you know?

[Teddi Mellencamp]

So when you saw the sparks coming out of her face in the confession, I was like, whoa.

[Katie]

When she was like, don't patronize me. Don't you have to back me up. Don't make fun of me. I was like, whoa. I know that. I know that exact aura she's given off right now.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Well, I will say set in the season has a. A fresher look to her. She. She tends. I think she looks happier or healthier or something.

[Katie]

I don't know what it is, but the drinking maybe. Maybe back.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Yeah. Well, then we go on to dorit, and she opens up to Kyle about having anxiety about everything p doing. All I could watch and listen to was her chopping up her dog's food. And I'm thinking, I am a horrible dog mom. She's literally there, like chopping it up and mixing it up. You do?

[Katie]

I cut up chicken? I cook chicken and cut up chicken.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Yeah, but this was just like soft dog food from what I don't see.

[Katie]

I do cut up chicken, though.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

I mean, for a while, Eddie would warm rugby's food up. Now his rugby's food bill is probably more expensive than our food bill. He gets like special made food. It has. It comes to us with his name on it, and I'm like, oh, my God.

[Katie]

I know my dog, my bigger dog has pancreatitis. So she has all these allergies. Can't eat this, can't eat that. So her. Her food is crazy.

Oh, that sucks. That really sucks.

So Dorit, she wants Kyle to have mo talk to pk. Now, we know that Mauricio is on PK side and he has a different story. We've seen it in the past episodes. He has a different story to what's going on in this relationship. And I where the problem is is we're only hearing what Dorit is saying. We don't really see PK doing anything because he's not on the show. And then she says, like in a previous episode, well, the PK won't let the kids go to Florida to see my mom. But then Kyle's like, where are the kids? Oh, they're in Florida.

[Katie]

Well, here's the thing. In her defense, we have seen PK not say some very nice things on camera. We have seen that. And also in that moment and in moments in the previous episode, I think she wanted her friend to be like, you're right. What an asshole. I stand behind you. I support you. You know, in that moment, you don't really want to hear your friend say, well, this or, well, that. You know, if it's your spouse, do. I think maybe Kyle has a point of saying maybe don't speak so badly about him on camera. Maybe that is a good point. You know, but you're just angry. I mean, I remember that you just. You hate the person in the moment.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Yeah. I think what I think Kyle's doing is because if you've noticed, Kyle never says a bad thing about Mauricio, and she could. I mean, he's out there hoeing around, and that's the worst that's ever been said, that one of her kids said he was being a hoe. I think that Kyle feels that this is family. You should not publicly talk bad about PK and if you do, it's going to make your separation more difficult. It's going to make your divorce more difficult. And just kind of feels like she just wants to make it stop.

[Katie]

So true. I just. I can see both sides. Honestly, I just felt for Dreet so much in those moments. I could see her, like, desperation of just stand behind me. Just say something.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

But I. Right. But I feel like Dorit's taking it as Kyle's picking PK side.

[Katie]

Totally. She does take that. Totally. And, you know, maybe I have some experience of begging somebody to have my back in the moment and it not working out right. You know, so maybe that's why I was kind of like, oh, Dorit, I'm so sorry. And can I just say really quick, dorit, it looks incredible. I was like, can I borrow that? Do I. Can I text her? I know that whole outfit. She's incredible. Just.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

She's so beautiful. And, you know, I got to spend a little bit of time with her at the upfronts, and I think it was in May or something like that. And she's just so sweet, really. So, like, I would, like. There was. I kind of get a little intimidated by the Beverly Hills girls when we see them out, because they're usually separated. We don't really, you know, like, Crystal made a comment recently.

[Katie]

You think that's true?

[Teddi Mellencamp]

I've heard it myself, too. I've heard it myself. Yeah. So they're Kind of a little bit. But Erica. So sweet. So sweet. Dorit. So they're just all very, very sweet. I met Jennifer Tilly last year at Crystal's holiday party. And when I got home, I told my daughter, and she's like, what? What? Oh, my God. She's an icon. She's a housewife. I go, well, she's on the housewife show. Yeah. She's like, that is insane. I want to meet her. I'm like, oh, okay, Kyle.

[Katie]

A couple of times. Once being at Bravicon. She was lovely. I did. I haven't really met any other than Sutton and Garcelle. I haven't really met any of the others from the show, but I thought.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Did you talk to Garcelle?

[Katie]

No, I haven't spoken to her in a long time, but I've spoken to Avi.

[Special Agent Bradley Hall]

What?

[Katie]

Well, just here and there, like, on social media, because we spent a lot of time together when I was with Sutton, like, hanging out with Sutton, and he was wonderful. I love Avi. I love him.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

What? Did he tell you what happened? No.

[Katie]

And I don't want to ask because I don't want to be like, hey, poking and prodded. But, I mean, it's kind of evident.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

So you're not the girl everyone's saying you are trying to get.

[Katie]

Trying to find information. We'll say, I feel like Jennifer has become her new Garcelle. That's what it looks like to me. Yeah.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

But it shows in previews or the, you know, the teaser that I think that Jennifer starts to call her out a little bit.

[Katie]

Jennifer and I have some similar takes on the situations.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Gotcha. So Amanda tells the girls that she has made some beautiful design choices to Kyle's old house, and now she's attached to it. I don't think me and Amanda will be friends. I say that joking. Amanda. I say it joking if you're listening.

[Katie]

But she said two things. Okay. She said, I feel like I belong in every room I want to be in. I liked it. That. That was a pretty. I like that line. But then she said that I've made some beautiful design choices. I did think that was odd.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

You know, Kathy was like, when people talk a lot, I tune out. I just tune out. And I feel like I'm definitely the same way. But when people constantly talk about themselves and their money, that, to me, is a huge turnoff.

[Katie]

Well, yes. And the I look really good in baseball caps is a little strange. Like, everything feels like, Let me show you how good I. And my mom always said to Me that insecurities are loud, and I feel like that's kind of the situation maybe we have. And I know how it's going into a new group, especially one that's established. It's super daunting. You don't know where your spot is. Sometimes you have to prove your spot. But I think a lot of times you have to give a little bit of reverence to who's been here for a while. Make friends. Let them get to know you. You know, I should have done better. Let them get to know you on a personal level. And I think she's just a little insecure in the moment.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Yeah, she's very forceful and she's very talkative. But you know what? One thing about her, and maybe this is stopping me from really thinking, oh, yeah, that's great. She looks like Leslie beador.

[Katie]

Somebody else said that to me.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

They did?

[Katie]

Yes. And I don't know Leslie. I've never met her. But I. I've seen a picture of Leslie and it's totally true. You're right.

They look so alike. And then all the logos, which I'm beginning to really dislike.

Me too.

All the logos from head to toe.

[Katie]

But just like I said, don't you think that maybe comes from a place of, like, unsureness, insecurity, trying to.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

It comes from a place of newfound money.

Oh, yeah, okay.

Yeah, that's what I think. Have you heard about putting bee pollen on your food? Yeah.

[Katie]

A long time ago, when I first started dating Matt, he bought bee pollen from this place in, like, Oregon or something. And he told me it was life changing. It's the new superfood. But I think I tossed it in the garbage can. But it is a thing. I just don't know what it does.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

It's hard to keep up with all the new fads. All the new.

[Katie]

I'm not. I'm sitting here with doritos, so I don't really know.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Oh, my God. I'm on a health kick right now. I'm. I'm. Had my protein shake and I had a handful of cashews and going to the gym after this.

[Katie]

I've had sour patch and doritos.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Oh, my God. How do you stay so thin?

[Katie]

That's kind of all I live on is junk food. It's disgusting.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Oh, my God. I hate you. I really do. So Jennifer asked Amanda what she thought about the other girls. Amanda thinks dorit shouldn't be telling everyone about her situation. I think that across the board, we all agree on that. But I think that Dorit is going to be mad that Kyle told Amanda that Dorit was talking and is adding fuel to the fire. I think that she said. Amanda said when she left the lunch with. With Dorit, she came out thinking that PK was a royal douchebag. And now they do a flashback of her sitting down with Kyle. And Kyle's kind of like, well, she talks a lot. And she said. And I'm like, oh, no, she's gonna

[Katie]

get pissed off again. I think Dorit's in this space. Like, she's new. She's fresh. This is all new to her. Right. So she's still pissed. And it's all a control thing with their kids, and I think that's why. But I do think it's hard. Well, you know this.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

It's hard.

[Katie]

It's hard when somebody asks you and you're asked to be really authentic and upfront about your life. You do tell it, but sometimes you have to hold back a little bit more. Yeah.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Did you notice Alex Baskin promoted his podcast? I saw him on it with PK Shameless plug there. Alex Baskin talking about PK Having a drinking problem.

[Katie]

O. That was bad.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Yeah. Amanda, she expressed that she didn't really like that Erica called her boring about not drinking. I don't know if Erica actually used the word boring.

[Katie]

I don't think she.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

I don't think she did. But do you. Do you feel like Amanda's maybe looking for a fight with Erica?

[Katie]

I think she's being overly sensitive. And she complained. She said, oh, I got Erica in that moment. I think Erica and her just having banter. I think they were just having a conversation. I don't think there was any getting anybody.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

As the newer housewife, did you feel pressure to come into Orange county to stir things up or you, like. You've obviously watched the shows and you're like, okay, you're going to come in and we're going to say this and do that. Did you ever feel that pressure?

[Katie]

Well, it's weird because you either come in and you're boring, or you come in and you do too much. There's no middle line for me. Right. And I came in trusting somebody, and them telling me, hey, do this. Hey, say this. Be here, do this at this moment. And I did. And then they threw their hands up like, I don't know why she did that. So I would tell Amanda to just do what feels right for you and be authentic.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Yeah. That's why I tell every new housewife that comes in, like, I'm not going to tell you anything about any of the girls. You figure it out on your own. Because my experience with somebody might not be the same experience somebody else has.

[Katie]

Totally. Right? Yes, 100%. 100%. I think Amanda needs to take a deep breath a little bit with Erica. Erica is not one that I would want to square up with.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

No, me either. No, that's not the girl that you want to go after, but I'm here for it.

[Katie]

Yes, me too.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

But, you know, talking about Erica, you know, Sutton's just sitting there taking it all in, and she goes, don't think you got Erica in that moment.

[Katie]

I liked that clock, though.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Uh huh.

I like not only Sutton standing up for Erica, but her being like, hey, listen, Amanda, cool your jets a little bit. Take a step back. Yeah, it's a good.

Like, you've been to a Kathy Hilton party, right?

[Katie]

I have not.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Oh, I thought you went to her Christmas party or something.

[Katie]

Nope, I haven't been to her house.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Oh, why did I think that Alexis went.

[Katie]

Alexis. It was.

Yeah.

I want to go to a Kathy Hilton party.

I was invited, and I don't remember why. I didn't go, but I didn't.

Oh, maybe that's what it was. Maybe you were invited. I thought it was her Christmas party or something. You went.

Yeah, but I didn't go.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

She gives out amazing gifts and her house is just so beautiful, like the backyard. I'm like, oh, my God, what a dream. Yeah, what a dream. Just like stepping on that private jet. I know.

[Katie]

Good for setting getting that jet, though.

[Special Agent Bradley Hall]

I know.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

But I did think it was funny when Amanda pulls out the baseball hat and puts it on, she goes, I look great in a baseball hat. I'm like, how many times are you gonna be tooting your own horn, girl?

[Katie]

I know. Who was it? Erica that said she likes to one up everybody? Was that Erica?

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Well, it's not one of them. Yes, I remember that.

[Katie]

And you just see it over and over. They didn't even have to put in the examples from the past. Like, you just see it.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Yeah. So all the girls are on the jet. They're coming in one by one. Rachel is pretty much talking about everybody's outfit, like the Fashion Police segment. And she's like, amanda had LV logos bigger than my head and really felt it. Kyle. Denim and turquoise. Erica doesn't like fun travel clothes. And Bose walks in like a queen.

[Katie]

I loved that commentary, by the way.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

I know, I know. I think that they should. Hopefully they really lean on that part of Rachel.

[Katie]

I know. I love that. But did you get the sense? And I wasn't even there, but I could feel it through the screen. When Amanda walked on that plane, everyone was like, why is she here? They're like, right? Didn't you feel that? Yes, man.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

And from just rumors I've heard, I think most of the girls have issues with her.

[Katie]

Well, it sure seems like her behavior. I mean, I'm excited to see how it unfolds with her relationships, but I saw one Dorit interview, and then how I feel about what? Watching it. It doesn't look good.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Yeah, well, she's definitely not a fan favorite right now. But let me say something. We need somebody like that on Beverly Hills because, you know, Dorit has really stepped up. She's been a lot more vocal the last year and this year than she has in the entire time she's been on the show. So we got an activated to read, but since they lost Lisa Rinna, I feel like there's nobody there that just says it like it is.

[Katie]

I think that Sutton does sometimes. I think she says it like it is, But I think you're right. Rinna was amazing.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

She was great.

[Katie]

But I think Dorit has stepped up and been more vocal because she's had it, and I know how that feels like when you've just kind of had it.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Yeah, I think so too.

Yep.

So Dorit is an hour and a half late for the private plane. I'm surprised they just didn't take off.

[Katie]

I know. Well, that's my pet peeve, being late. Mine too early to everything. So I would be really frustrated if somebody was an hour and a half late.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Well, I mean, it screws up everything.

[Katie]

Yes.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Like landing the pilots, all that stuff.

[Katie]

But I know.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

And Cat, we. We did learn that Kathy is a girl's girl by telling Rachel that her makeup didn't look good.

[Katie]

What you did. I don't like it.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

And I was like, it don't look good, girl.

[Katie]

I'm like, oh, I love that. Tell me. Tell me you like something.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Yes, I know. I'm like, the first one. Like, even when we were on stage at BravoCon and Kiki Monique was doing the panel, she had lipstick all over her teeth. Now we all know that. What went down? She doesn't like me anymore. Whatever. And I kept going. Got lipstick on your teeth. You got lipstick on your teeth. Like, I will always be that girl, but I don't. But I don't know if I'll say to somebody, your makeup doesn't look good.

[Katie]

I Don't think I could. I think that would hurt me to the core, I guess. But I also want somebody to tell me, like, hey, blend that in a little bit. I would appreciate it.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Yeah. So they're at dinner. The table is covered in crystals. Are you a crystal girl?

[Katie]

Sort of. I mean, I have some in my kitchen. Not because I think that they're admitting anything to me, but just they're beautiful.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

So I. I'm not a crystal girl. Like, I don't know the whole meaning of it, but I know that one time I had this Reiki healer come over, and she gave me this little pinkish crystal. And it was supposed to be for safety or something like that. And I've had it in the door of three. This is how long it's been three of my Range Rovers. So I just. And knock on wood, I haven't got an accident.

[Katie]

Oh, my gosh.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

But in Big Bear, I was driving Eddie's truck. I think it was New Year's Day or something. And it was so packed in Big Bear. So packed. And I'm in. His truck is so big. I swiped another truck. I swiped. And I was so annoyed because I. It was just. It was kind of so sprinkling. There's people walking, there's cars everywhere. And I went to turn, and I just. I mean, it wasn't anything bad. And so I got out. Thank God the guy was coming out of the store, so I didn't have to stand out there and wait for him.

[Katie]

Right.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

And he was so nice and so, so kind and taking care of everything, but I'm like, oh, I felt so bad the rest of the day.

I know. Well.

And it's the start of your new year.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

I was in. I know. And I text him, like, several times, like, I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry. He's like, stop saying you're sorry. Like, he was so nice. He's like, thank you for being a good person. Like, I didn't. He's like, you didn't have to. Oh, my God. For me.

[Katie]

Okay, so here's the takeaway from this. Instead of starting out, I hit somebody. You're starting off with compassion.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

That's true.

[Katie]

I'll take that year. Compassion.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Yeah, I'll take that. But when Amanda goes. I spent $10,000 on crystals in one setting. Was that necessary?

[Katie]

Well, it's. It's getting exhausting, to be honest with you, to listen to the. I'm this. I'm better than that. I'm doing. I got that. It's it's getting exhausting.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Well, I think it was Erica and Jennifer in their confessionals that were just like, girl, I would be the same way. I have friends that spent a hundred thousand on it. Like, it's like, why?

[Katie]

And who cares?

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Well, for money, girl, you're wasting your money.

[Katie]

I know. I totally agree, but I just. I want to get to know who Amanda is. I don't care about her things. I want to know who she is. I want to see her family dynamic. I remember reading that, the four kids. That was a problem for people to hear. Two kids raised by me, all these things. I want to get to know her family dynamic more.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

If you. If your ex said something like, his. His new wife, whatever, I'm raising your kids,

[Katie]

would that. Well, my ex's current wife asked Kylie and Gavin and Max to call her mom. What? Yes. And then at my son's school, put herself in as mom at the school. I had to change it, and they refused to call her mom.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Oh, my God. I had that happen, too. Yes.

[Katie]

So I do know how that is. It's.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

It's, you know, the school portal where you can look at the kids grades and all that stuff. My ex put his girl, not even that wife, a girlfriend, as their mom.

[Katie]

I would die.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

I was pissed. I went in there and changed. I'm like, why is she in there at all?

[Katie]

That is ridiculous. Honestly.

[Nancy Glass]

No.

[Katie]

Yes.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

He would always pull like that on me. So Sutton is leaning into Sutton Brown, her new last name. She's filling it out.

[Katie]

By the way, I am Catholic, and I have never heard of being able to take a marriage away from the church.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

I didn't know that either. I'm not Catholic, but I've never heard of that. I always thought when you had a marriage annulled, it had to be within a certain amount of weeks. That's what I thought.

[Katie]

Me too. And I thought that that was kind of like, you know, I forget what it's called. A statute.

So many times, so many years. But. But it's weird. I've never, ever, ever heard of that

[Teddi Mellencamp]

either, have I, so. But again, we're not. I'm not Catholic, so I wouldn't know. But

wait, wait, I have a question. When you divorced Simon, did you ask the kids, hey, I want to change my name back. Do you mind if I have a different last name than you? How did you handle that?

[Teddi Mellencamp]

So I didn't actually change my last name for a good three years.

[Katie]

Okay.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

And it was kind of a. Even after I did, I still used the Kid's last name Barney. I still used it with school and stuff like that because it was just too confusing. And I think that's why a lot of moms will keep their last name when they have little kids. But then it got to a point like, you know, okay, I can change my name legally, but with schooling and stuff like that, I'll still go by Barney.

[Katie]

Right. When I was divorced and then marrying Matt, I asked the kids, do you mind if I change my last name to Janella, or do you want me to stay the same name as you? Because that can mean a lot kids. I know, but luckily Sutton's kids are older, so I'm sure they.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Yeah. Their kids are, like, in college now, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. What?

[Katie]

Well, one's once a senior, maybe, or freshman in college. Yeah, maybe. Yeah, something like that.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

So we were talking about this earlier. So Kyle finally asked Amanda about her job. I think everybody is so curious about this. And Amanda goes on and on and on about her online course. And everyone's like, I mean, if Vicky was there, she'd be snoring. And then. And then Kathy finally goes, that's great.

[Katie]

Yeah, that was so.

That's great.

And Kyle's snickering because she knows when Kathy says, that's great, it's like, either she's not listening or she doesn't understand or she doesn't give a shit.

[Katie]

I'm gonna start saying that.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

I. I still don't understand what she does for money. I really don't.

[Katie]

Well, it's gotta be either you sell a course or you sell a monthly subscription to her brain. Right. Her thoughts, her notes, items. And that can make a lot of money.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Is it like a get rich quick? Is it. These are tools to. She doesn't give enough information about it. So that's why it's so confusing. It makes people think it's a little bit shady. It might not be. It's just like, give us more information.

[Special Agent Bradley Hall]

Well, yeah.

[Katie]

And, like, what is the manifesting part? Like, how does that actually get me money? Because if all of us are just manifesting at home, how is money being made?

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Right.

[Katie]

Right. And I'm not.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

I'm not really a manifester. I'm just a doer. I always tell when I do it.

[Katie]

I'm a. Both, I guess I feel like I'm putting positive energy out there, is actually guiding me to do the positive thing. Right. It's like inspiring me to keep going and doing the.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Yes. Like, if I'm having good thoughts and then you're Feeding your mind, what your thoughts are. You know what I mean? Like, you're feeding yourself with that. If you're constantly negative. And I struggle with this because I always go to the negative. I always go to the worst case scenario.

[Katie]

Right.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

And that. I always do that. I don't know why. Probably a defense mechanism. So I'm not disappointed. So people will say you're coming back. Probably not. I don't know.

[Katie]

Don't say that. See, you can't put that into the universe. The universe back.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Bravo's gonna do what Bravo's gonna do. You know what I mean? Like, it's one of those things. Is it gonna be different when I sit here and go, please give me that million dollars? Please give, like, no, I don't know. So that's what I need. How do you manifest your money?

[Katie]

I want somebody, if they're listening, to come forward and give a testimonial of buying the course of the book and how it worked and how it worked out for them.

Or maybe I should just do my job and investigate it.

I mean, anybody that talks that much about money on a reality show, it scares me. It just scares me. It's like, be careful.

Careful with what you're doing.

Yeah. So this is your specialty. Specialty Jennifer brings at the paparazzi, which.

[Katie]

Okay. The way she said paparazzi, too, is like paparazzi or something. She says.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

She always. She says words funny sometimes.

[Katie]

Yes. I thought that was funny. She brought that up. And also, I just want to say the picture of Erica with the guy, I kind of loved it. And they. I wrote it down that I feel like she was comfortable. And then they said that she looked comfortable. If she's not like glam to the nines. Yeah. With that person. Right.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Well, Dorit Snickers in her confessional, and she's like, yeah, she's really comfortable. She's like, not dressed up, no makeup, and the guy's wearing Crocs.

[Katie]

Crocs are not my favorite.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

I I cannot stand Crocs. Do you think Birks or Birkenstocks are better? Because Rachel Zoe, the fashion expert, says that Birks are hotter than Crocs.

[Katie]

I am not into Birkenstocks. I even asked my 19 year old son last night, like, what do you think of Birkenstocks? And he was like, no, I have

[Teddi Mellencamp]

some from years ago. I think I've worn them three times. That's it?

[Katie]

Yeah. And they're not comfortable to me, so I don't get the shiny behind it. But you know what? To reach their own.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Now Dorit says in her confessional that she's upset Erica didn't tell her or Kyle. Then Kyle reveals in her confessional that she already knew.

[Katie]

Oh, I thought that I was like, oh, God. When Dorit watches this, she's gonna be like, no way.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

I know, I know. So it ends there. It was a good episode. Now they're in Sedona, and usually Sedona is hot as balls. So when they were all getting on the plane, like, Rachel with her big jacket, and I'm like, you're going to Sedona? It's usually. I don't know what time of year it is, but it's usually hot there.

[Katie]

I know. And did you see the house they're staying in or houses?

[Teddi Mellencamp]

I don't. I. I was trying to figure it out. So Teddy. I went with Teddy to a retreat in Sedona like a year and a half ago, and I'm like, is that the same place? But no, it's not. But they were kind of similar. It was like a compound of just different little villas all over the place.

[Katie]

Oh, my God. I was like, can we go there, like, if we're back?

[Teddi Mellencamp]

I know. I mean, funny thing is, when they filmed it, some pictures leaked and people insisted that Amanda was Teddy. I'm like, it's not Teddy. It's not. It's not Teddy. People are reaching out to me. Is Teddy's filming? I'm like, no, she's not filming.

[Katie]

No. I just think I wrote down. The last thing I wrote down is I think Amanda's doing too much. That's all. I think I'm really excited to see where it goes. I know how hard it can be to be a newbie, like I said, with a group of, you know, established women. So I'm excited to see how she does.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

If you go back to Orange county, would you do things differently?

[Katie]

Oh, a thousand percent. A thousand percent. The first two seasons, I have told you this before. I was so worried about creating relationships because I actually wanted those relationships. And now I have to be true to who I am and what I think and what isn't good for me. And I would definitely be a lot more vocal. I have a lot of things to say.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

Yeah. Yeah. I mean, it's a learning experience. There's, like, two different types of housewives. There's housewives that go in and get it right from the beginning. Far and few between. There's other housewives that they need a couple seasons to get into the.

[Katie]

Offered another chance. I think it'll be a very different. Katie. Yeah.

[Teddi Mellencamp]

The guys get along so well, and that's kind of like the dynamic I feel like it's missing on Orange county is like, with. Yeah. With the guys dynamics and stuff, like, where they can actually have fun together and not be like, oh, I hate this.

Well, they, you know, bravocon. They all went out to dinner together and had old fashions and bonded a lot. It was great. I love their.
