Two T's in a Pod with Teddi Mellencamp and Tamara Jud.
C
Hi, guys.
B
Welcome to another episode of Two T's in a Pod. Tam is not with me today, so I have a very special guest. I've got Gertie, who came in from Miami.
A
Hey, girl. Hey.
B
Hey.
A
We reunited, honey.
B
Reunited. Before we even get started with the pod I wanted, I got a very, very up to date DM from the cruise line.
A
No, wait, from the cruise line itself. Are you serious? No, from Ascend. Like celebrity cruises and everything. What happened? Girl, talk to me.
B
I work for the cruise line. This was on a sailing with media and VIPs. If Julia simply said, hey, this is the person and we need to make room for her, they would have done it. It didn't have to be that deep.
A
Are you serious? It's been verified.
B
It's been verified.
A
Mic drop, Mic drop. Wait, what is the. Dorita says clip, clip, clip, clip. I'm dead. Can I have that person come to the reunion too?
B
I know. Well, so I have to say I was a little bit. Because of the way that the event was kind of played out. I was like. I was kind of like, why is she doing it at this cancer event? I didn't understand.
A
Oh, okay.
B
Got it. So can you explain that a little bit? And then we're gonna read.
A
We're going back to just event itself and why I did it there or.
B
Yeah, well, just explaining it to me, because I think a lot of us watching thought this is a cancer. Okay, well, why is she doing it?
A
Teddi, you know I would never, ever use cancer as the playing field to do this with these girls. Number one, based on what they did to me or what happened to me at the wedding, chaos. Do you think that some of these girls would even be at my. My. My cancer charity event? Probably not. This was a magazine cover party hosted by the Knot magazine. And I wish it would have zoomed out that just edited shot wider so you could see the heavily branded the Knot magazine stamp. Teddy, when I tell you, you look on the floor. The knot, the napkins, the knot. They wanted to make sure they thought.
B
They were Heather deboing it.
A
Yes, honey, they were Heather Deborah Ing it. It was everywhere. When you look at the screen, it's so zoomed into the pink, pink, pink. And it was very interesting is what I'll say. Secondly, it was me giving a speech because the magazine issue was speaking about celebrating the pursuit of. Of life, of happiness and the whole thing. So my speech reflected my own testimony, which will have the C word in it. Cancer. Cancer, cancer, cancer. That's part one. Part two is that I had two of 30 people there, 30 of my closest friends. There was no patrons donating to attend the event. Strangers out there. No.
B
30.
A
30 of my ride or dice that live in Miami. Two of them.
B
So all the guests were yours. Like, true guests. It wasn't like. It wasn't like the cancer event we saw each other at. No. That's what I was getting. And I'm like, what is she doing?
A
Why is she doing this? I would never, ever. And that's the spin. And this is how dangerous it could be when it's like, oh, she did it at the cancer event. Very dangerous.
B
The girls are doing that.
A
Of course they are. And I will see them at the reunion because that is disgusting. Disgusting. And that is my name on the line. So we're going to have to discuss that. Nevertheless, remember, they can't read, okay? So, you know, we got to work on that. Secondly, out of the 30 guests, two of my really good friends were. Are survivors. Two. Two.
C
Yeah.
A
And of course they're going to come to the event. One of them has a charity called Survive her. Okay. At the event, I'm part of a group called support your girlfriends, where we actually support your girlfriends. And we had money. We had $10,000. And then the head of the organization, she goes, let's do a presentation of the check to Survive her. So no one from Survivor paid. This was not an organization for Survivor. Survivor is one person that came to the event, and she's my friend. We said, let's do a check presentation for Survivor, and that was it. The way that it looked was, here's a charity. Oh. Oh, look at you cancer survivors. It was unbelievable. And last and last and not least, Martina was not even invited to my party. You see me invite the girls at the LGBTQ event, which she was missing too, Right? She was not there. I don't know why, but she was not there that supporting. She was not there supporting the cause. And she inserted herself to say, well, thank God I wasn't there, because, you know, how could she do that to the survivors?
B
Who?
A
Me and my two friends out of the 30 people, girl, bye. So the spin is real. And at the reunion. Sorry.
B
Let's just say one thing. How could she do that to all the surrogacy mothers? Oh, right.
A
Well, there you go.
B
I go, mm, how could any like. And that's why I wanted to give you, like, that's why I wanted to talk to you about it. Because, yeah, people make mistakes. Or people. Because the way they made it look on the boat when you were talking about it was. You were like, no, I stand by exactly what I did. But I didn't give this back information.
A
Yes.
B
So then I was like, well, I'm still annoyed at Gertie. I need more even.
A
And by the way, even in the context of what it was. Yes. Because my testimony was really heart wrenching, and it was really sweet, and I would. And in my event, I'm a party planner. For me, there's always a party and then there's always an after party. So my event had a program, and then after the program, there's the dancing part. So I did what I did right before introducing the band for the dancing part. So the first part. Part of my event was already whole.
B
And the business part was done.
A
Yes. And. And I. I didn't even plan to do it whenever. That time when I went back and finished the programming and Russell was leaving and he's telling me what she was saying. Still playing victim.
B
Still.
A
Still bringing it up. When I told her, this is between you and me and you at my party.
B
And she even said, this is between. She wanted to say that, but she's.
A
Talking to my husband, bringing down the mood of my party. Bringing the topic.
B
Wearing sneakers, dirty ones.
A
I'm sorry. I just. When I'm. I'm nice until I'm not Teddy. And I'm telling you, my kindness in this group has been taken for weakness. Clearly, me getting on this. Damn.
C
Can we read this?
B
Can we read this a little bit about this cruise?
A
Okay.
B
Okay. You be you, and I'll be Julia.
A
Okay. We're doing role play. I love this.
B
Okay, here we go.
A
Who's first? Me.
B
You.
A
Hi, babe. You're good. They don't have me at the dinner reservation where they swung me at, so I'm trying to figure things out. Not sure why they separate because this is her not replying after, you know, a lot of minutes. Not sure why they separated us since I came only for you. Anyway, I'll figure it out.
B
Oh, just getting back to my room. It's Blank's party, and I had no control over the list. I guess changes were Made when Blank canceled. I'm sorry, are you all taken care of? Question mark.
A
Blank is Martina, and this is Sandy's party.
B
All right.
A
To be honest, I'm a little taken aback that I was moved to the side for this exclusive party. If I'm supposed to come in as your replacement, as Martina's replacement, I should have been extending the invitation as a courtesy. Especially when I'm leaving my kids and husband at home. As your guests, I'm sure you had no control over it. And I'm also sure that Blank, Alexis Bellino's publicist, wanted to make this experience exclusive just for you, since I'm not his client. But nevertheless, this is a little rude concern considering I was just trying to be supportive as a friend to you. I was not even on the reservation for the restaurant that you guys put me at. They're squeezing me in and I'll be okay. But know that I will never let anyone do that to my friends who show up for me.
B
Okay, So I would now hearing this her, but let's do her response first. Her response is, I don't coordinate dinner reservations. All I'm thinking about this weekend is Blank's condition. I thought you wanted to be here and would have enjoyed being here. Otherwise I would have never suggested you join me and leave your kids with Russell. I'm sorry you're upset. This is a work weekend and it wasn't done on purpose or to offend you.
A
Clarification. The letter that all of us on the cast received because, you know, half of us went, half of us didn't. The work translation content for cruising. Paid post barter. It's a barter. Not. Not paid anything. Oh.
B
In exchange, you go on the cruise.
A
Amazing two bedroom suite. You go coasting and then just post content girl. So. So now we're turning it into.
B
And that content would have been better if you were in it.
A
Ah, I love you.
B
No, but I'm saying that maybe that's why.
A
Maybe that's why I wasn't invite. That. That. Maybe that that's why she didn't want.
B
To take the attention.
A
Maybe that's why I was invited to the cruise for the content part and then the VIP part. No Gertie, no access.
B
I mean, I think that you're proving that Julia wanted you there, but she wanted you to beg to be there.
A
Well, no, I. She wanted me as a seat filler. So it's kind of like, oh, you're fun here, let's do the spa thing. But then now I need to go To VIP But I'll see you later at the bar. Okay, so that's.
B
I have a. So why. We're on her. We may as well just keep on her.
A
Okay.
B
Do you think that Julia is trying to ice you out or some of the women are trying to ice you out or do you think she's just obsessed with being with the cool. The cool girl.
A
The cool girls. And they're gonna be cool girls. Adriana is a freaking riot.
B
Oh, my God. She was on a good one.
A
I think it's multifaceted and I think we'll get to the bottom of that at the reunion. But I think Julia gets fixated on new shiny objects and I think that it's a repeat offense that she keeps doing. You know, like she's friends with you and then she finds something else and then she goes there. This is a nine time engaged woman. So that's going to tell you a lot about the pattern.
B
Yeah, I mean, that makes sense.
A
Yeah.
B
But I think. Do you think that Julia's relationship with Adriana is now flawed forever? I mean, it doesn't seem like it's.
A
Non existent right now. And so you'll have to keep watching to see how it becomes this extinct.
B
Talking about this season, what is your opinion on Stephanie?
A
Oh, my God, I love Stephanie. Stephanie came hard, strong, to the point, no bullshit. Now initially you're kind of like taking.
B
It back because it's about the money stuff.
A
Harsh. Around. Around the edges, right? You're kind of like, wait, whoa, calm down, Birkin.
B
Come down, Birkin, Birkin.
A
But you know what? You know, and I by the way, didn't even meet her till a little bit later on, I think. I can't remember. So she's coming in and she sees my party and she sees what is happening. And these girls are like, cancer survivor, charity party, fundraiser. And she's kind of like, oh my God, this is horrible. And that's how I meet Stephanie with their spin on bullshit.
B
Right?
A
So then of course she meets me and she's like, okay, this is not what they said. You were like, okay, the spin. And then there's things that happen when we go to Sevilla in Spain where she starts to see some people for not what they pretend to be, but for what they really are. And trust me, it gets quite spicy in Spain.
B
Yeah, well, I'm excited for that. What are your thoughts on when you're. When you guys were on the yacht and you were separated? I don't like. I personally don't like that.
A
I liked it actually. To be honest, because you got a break. I got a break. I got a break. It's a lot. It's a lot of personalities, you know, so.
B
Yeah, that's true.
A
And I was. And I was out of town. I was doing a speaking engagement for the Lynn Sage foundation in Chicago. So that's a cancer, you know. Yeah. So I came back. I was like, walking in, honey, ain't nobody gonna phase me. What you got? Who's got a question?
B
Yeah. How badly do you want Dr. Nicole back?
A
I want what's good for her. And I'm not too sure. I'm not too sure if that's her coming back. So, you know, her saying tbd, it's like she's got conditions is what I'll say.
B
Yeah, but she played it. I. I liked your scene because you could tell you were real girlfriends catching up. And, like, sometimes it's a little bit like, oh, you know, you're gonna gossip.
A
You're all over the place. Yeah.
B
And then you called. So Stephanie and I thought they both handled it well.
A
Of course. But why not? See, if you're a woman that's not. That's not insecure, that has your crap together, and that really is supporting other women. Why not? You dated the same man 20 years apart. Why not? You have so much in common. And I was like, you know what? You need to meet Stephanie. And that's how I roll.
B
And they. They did it well. And I. It made me like them both. The only thing I'm not loving about Stephanie is the money stuff.
A
Eats. Intense. It's intense. And actually, when you see one of the upcoming episodes in Sevilla, you'll see, like, how amazingly extreme. Like, if you can get it, if you have it like that, then that's good for you. There's a big surprise for her. And it's like. And it's like, why? It's unbelievable. It's unbelievable.
B
And how long have those two been together, her and.
A
Mr. For a long time, I believe. A long time. Over maybe 10 years, I think, because.
B
We were trying to figure out, because we just saw the House on the recent episodes and they said they needed to wait until the divorce was final and the blah, blah, blah. And there's been all these rumbling. And so I'm really trying to dissect it because, you know, I have so much time on my hands.
A
We do. We all do. At some point in time during the day.
B
Oh, my gosh. Here's the thing about being a great gift giver. When you find something truly perfect for everyone on your list. You almost don't want to give it away.
C
That's what happened with my quints. Order everything so soft and well made I'm seriously tempted to keep all of it for myself.
B
Quince pretty much has your whole list covered. Mongolian cashmere sweaters for $50 when you'd normally pay $200 or more, the kind you'll wear on repeat.
C
Then there's the denim that goes with everything. Silk tops and skirts for when you need to look put together. Cashmere beanies and scarves and down jackets that actually keep you warm.
B
The Italian wool coats? Absolute top of my list. They look designer and are made with premium materials. But like everything at Quince, the price won't make you panic. We're talking way less than other brands charge.
C
By working directly with trusted factories that maintain high standards for both craftsmanship and ethical practices, and by cutting out the middleman and markups, Quince is able to pass those savings straight to you.
B
I can't tell you how much I'm loving my new cashmere sweater. I will be wearing it a lot this holiday season and getting one for my daughter's slate. Find gifts so good you'll want to keep them with quint.

Hey, I'm Freddie Prinze Jr. And I talk a lot about twists, turns and the unexpected moments that happen inside the ring. Wrestling with Freddy. But the one thing I've learned Never.
C
Turn your back on your opponents in.
A
The ring unless you have your tag partner with you. It helps to have backup, like real life backup, the kind you can call.
C
When life throws you something unexpected.
A
That's when I recommend you reach out to your State Farm agent. They can help you choose the coverage you need before anything happens, and they're ready to help you file a claim when it does. When it's something out of the ordinary or just part of everyday life, it's good to know someone's in your corner like a good neighbor. State Farm is there. And thanks to State Farm support of Michael Tura Podcast Network, you can catch new episodes of Wrestling with Freddie wherever you listen to podcasts.
B
In regards to you and Julia's tension, do you think that there's room for resolution?
A
Oh, the. The good times are coming because, you know, something happens.
B
So we're gonna see something this season.
A
Yeah. Something happens next episode that shifts my thinking. And if you see me walking into every single group event, I always walk in with a smile. When Julia walks into, for example, my event, it's like Debbie Downer, like, I'm here to ruin the event, and I'm gonna talk to your husband and tell him we still trying to figure it out. Like, it's like, what are you doing? So you see the opposite vibes. I'm on a high vibration, and I don't know what vibration she's on. Nobody knows what level she's on. But the fact is, is that I try and put my best foot forward. And finally it gets to a point where we're like, okay, we're neutral, and let's see what happens.
B
Is she fun?
A
No, she. She's.
B
Yeah.
A
Yeah.
B
I mean, look at those raving reviews.
A
You know, it's. It's hard to watch these scenes back. It's hard to watch this. This show back because, you know, I think we were good for a while, and then something happens, and then it's like, okay, this is. Again, we're going backwards, you know, so the reunion is going to be on and popping because did you see last night's. Whatever that was. Did you see that last night? Watch what happens live.
B
I heard.
C
I did.
B
I wanted to talk to you about the. Watch what happens live. What are you.
A
Well.
B
I.
A
Still am flabbergasted at how she's apologizing only for the water throwing assault and not the lies. That's what's blowing my mind. And so that tells me that this person has not learned a single thing, is not really apologetic. And it's because of the backlash that she's doing this about the water splashing in my face that she threw only.
B
And you can't see water splashing. Water splashing is like if you're on a boat and all of a sudden water splashes. Yes.
A
And for Isaac Mizrahi, if you're listening, I am disgusted. Disgusted. Unacceptable. And this is not for entertainment, okay? I was degraded on national television. Humiliated. And how dare you.
B
And she sat there and just grinned.
A
Because if I was really Sorry. I was gonna say. You know what? I'm so sorry. This is not right. I really mean I'm sorry, and I don't need you to hype me up on this disgusting.
B
There was absolutely no reason it needed to get to that point. And if she did do it and it was a reflex, like she's trying to claim, why not say, I'm really sorry? I'm sorry.
A
Julia is a. Julia is a third physical offender. Okay, let's go back to Bahamas. She tried to pour an entire ice bucket on Marisol, and we helped make that not happen. And there's another situation that was not aired. Okay. That was actually interesting as well. So we will discuss this at the reunion, because the sweet voice is going to only take you so far, and when you have repeat offenses, we're going to have to talk about it.
B
Yeah, I think, you know, when she was on Watch what happens live. She says it hasn't been.
A
I don't want to hear it. I don't want to hear. I don't want to hear any of that. Okay. Not want to hear it.
B
Well, it's pretty much. It's. You don't. You don't have to hear it.
A
Yes.
B
Everybody heard it, but I feel like it's her way of just once again, trying, like. I don't think that apology was for you.
A
No, it wasn't.
B
I think it was for the people, the masses.
A
Absolutely. Of course. Yeah.
B
Has she reached out or anything?
A
Of course not. Of course not. No. The last thing that I've heard her say is, gertie needs to stay as far away as possible. That was the last thing I've heard. And then this apology months later, so please spare me.
B
And do you think the girls are a little too hard on Adriana, or do you think that she brings it all on herself?
A
With Adriana, I mean, it's tit for tat with them, and they have a long history, so, you know, I mean, and you see that they're, like, playing, but then they're smiling and then they're hugging. So it's a lot of back history. That's why we hardly get involved and we let them play.
B
Would you've been upset about the sagging knees comment?
A
No.
B
I mean, I kind of would have laughed at it. And I have sag.
A
Yeah, but, you know. You do.
B
I do.
A
You have to show me those.
B
That's why. That's why I have my jeans on.
A
Yeah. But you know who they don't keep accountable, you know, is Julia, for example. What. What what should have happened after that? Number one, she should have been escorted outside the wedding. No, she stayed. She got consoled by Larsa and she stayed there and cut the cake like nothing happened. Like nothing. And I, you know, do you know what it took for me to stay there? I said to myself, no, I worked.
B
How did you do that?
A
I mean, I don't know how I did it. I just said to myself, I'm going to stay there to see what they do after I leave so I can witness what they do. And when I saw that, it was kind of like, okay, oh, you got to be okay. Don't worry.
B
Just.
A
Just stop.
C
Stop.
A
Okay. Cutting the cake. I saw her give flowers to Marisol. Marisol hugging her, laughing, turned around and cut the cake. So this is why. This is really not just for play and for entertainment. This is really interesting and it's on my back. This was at my expense. This was, it was done to me.
B
And I think as viewers, it's hard for like, while we're watching it, we're looking at it as two separate instances when it's all the same thing wrapped into one. And no wonder you're so hurt. Not only did she not fight for, like, if I invited a friend somewhere with me, it doesn't matter if it's a paid post or what it is, I'd be like, hey, no, this is.
A
Who I came with as a replacement to your wife. And that you got me on the cruise because of your wife, that you're getting glammed for to get on the cruise, to leave your wife. But then you say you're thinking about your wife while on the cruise for content. And then you say, I'm thirsty and I'm the opportunist and I'm psychosocial, scary. Everything that she said to me, I'm looking at her and I'm like, you really need a mirror. Because the lies are so extreme. And this is about. It's not even about the cruise, Teddy. It's about the. The. The cruise.
B
The lack of respect in your friendship.
A
No, the cruise was used as a tool to paint me as something that she wanted them to see me as.
B
She wanted you to be high maintenance, over the top. It's too much. I couldn't deal. But this is the person you chose to invite. So then take care of her.
A
Why didn't you call it Gianna? Her best friend?
B
Yeah, that's what I don't understand.
A
I even asked her. You'll see what she respond. I'll talk to you about at the reunion, why didn't you call it Rihanna first? If I'm not your friend and you don't know me like that, and all of a sudden I'm a piece of.
B
But knowing like that. And also, if for some reason somebody on that cruise line, which we already confirmed isn't the case.
A
I need that. I need that tea, honey.
B
Yeah. I'll give that to you.
A
I love you.
B
But if somebody on that cruise line said, you know, we don't want Gertie there. She wasn't, then that's where Julia should at least have the balls to come to you and say, hey, I'm sorry. I tried. They're telling me no. So where do you want to go now?
A
Yes. And at the end of the day.
B
Like, let's go together at the end of the day.
A
And again, let me remind everybody, the Cruise happened in 2023.
B
Oh, yeah.
A
Okay. And at the end of the day, Julia decided to bring it up now, because Julia has such, I guess, an ego that she didn't like the way I had something to say about it. She didn't want to be called out. And so it was kind of like, how dare you talk to me now? Is. You were my cruise. You were my bed. That's the spin on that. And I'm like, wait. You literally called me. Russell's mom was like, is Martina. We thought. We thought the way that she sounded on the phone, that it was back. That's how bad it was.
B
Yeah.
A
Why would I get back on the cruise? I'm like, oh, she'll be fine. She didn't even want to tell me why. She said, please, I'll tell you on the cruise. I can't talk now.
B
I'm getting want you to talk her out of going because it was inappropriate.
A
She didn't want. She didn't want me to say no. She wanted to sound like there was something to hear that was so severe that I. To get me to get on the cruise. It's a manipulation. And so I leave my house, I get on this cruise, I. I'm there for you. And then I'm like, shushu, go eat over there. We got a reservation for you. We'll be. We'll see you at the Martin Bar later. Okay, See ya. And then I'm like, alone. No reservation. I'm by myself. Jen Fester was on the ship. Eventually, she comes to me later on, but she has her own thing. She wasn't supposed to be babysitting me. I'm here alone for you, and you can't pull a chair. And I'm like, why can I sit on the chair? That was meant for Martina. It didn't make sense.
B
My friend.
A
Please.
B
I just. I can't.
A
And she would have never done it. She would have never done it. She would have never done it to Larsa. She would have never done it to Alexia. Those are facts. She would have never. Alexi would have parasailed her ass out of that.
B
Oh, no. Alexio would have lost her.
A
Okay.
B
No, there's no.
A
For them to not have even said Julia. They didn't want to hear the story. They didn't want to hear the story.
B
That's the thing. I never heard the story either. I didn't feel like I got the full story.
A
Yeah.
B
So I wasn't able to take it in and really understand. But now that I hear that, if. I think if me and Tam are going to do something and I was, and I asked her to go with me, I would never in 1 million years ditch her.
A
Who raised you? If you do that, like, who raised you?
B
Yeah. And if it was. If it was, I get paid this extra amount to attend this portion of the event, I would have said to her, do you want to go? It's really a paid thing for me. Like, you don't have to.
A
Well, the itinerary that they sent to me because I'm very organized, you know, I'm a priority planner. Before I packed, I said, well, send me the itinerary so I can see what to pack. And that VIP dinner was not on my itinerary, but it sure was on hers. So you understand there's lots of details that you're not going to be able to walk back, honey. Okay.
B
Did she ask anyone else before you. Do you think?
A
I asked. I asked her to ask somebody else. Adriana. I said, why don't you ask Adriana? I asked her. Yes. There's lots of layers to this, and I don't. I don't want to even get into the semantics of it because at this point, it's about the theme of the fact that it's shitty behavior.
B
Yeah. You know, but fans overall are unhappy with the way you've been treated this season.
A
I didn't even ask. Teddy, when I tell you, you know, when I just finished recovering, I had two surgeries, you know, construct reconstructed surgeries. I was coming to this season, like, oh, I'm getting my groove back. We're going to have so much fun. I don't have to worry about this C thing anymore. I'm doing my thing. I walk into this mess. The biggest disappointment I was like, I cannot believe I'm in this mess. I'm getting water thrown in my face and I'm, I'm thinking I'm going to have my girls backing me up and like just being like, gertie, we got you. Where do you want to go to celebrate you? And I got the complete opposite for no reason. So I'm like, wow, like this, this was really hurtful.
B
Do you think it's because they were all being selfish or do you think that it was intentional to hurt you?
A
I think it's a little bit of everything. I think it's a little bit of everything. And I'm sorry that I got attention last year for, you know, having cancer.
B
It's not always the best attention. Like, it's really hard.

Before all the algorithm fed blah blah and the endless sea of dupes, shopping used to feel more fun. But here's a confession. Are you a Charlotte listeners? You can find that fun feeling again on ebay. Because on ebay it's not just shopping, it's a full on fashion pursuit. And when you find the thing that adrenaline hit is real. I went on to ebay to look for a super special vintage jacket for Charlotte to wear to the gallery and I found the most amazing Mugler jacket and the costume department loved it and it felt so good and I still have it at home. Like when you score that rare Adidas Collab that's lived on your mood board or the Dior saddle bag that you ripped right out of a magazine in 2007 and never got over? Yeah, those. It's about the thrill and the pursuit of finding those pieces that feel like you. There's always more to discover. Ebay has millions of pre loved finds from hundreds of brands backed by ebay. Authenticity guarantee. EBay. Things people love.
B
So how, how are you feeling? Like watching you and watching your story has given me a lot of like, even when you were talking about physically feeling different, I was like, oh, my gosh, I don't feel alone anymore. Because I was wondering, like, like, it sounds so silly, but I was like, oh, I can't get Botox and I.
A
We can't.
B
Well, because I. Well, no, because I still have it.
A
Oh.
B
So they were like, you gotta wait a little bit. Oh, dissolve and. Because it can, like, I guess get into your system a lot more. Like Botox, filler, all that kind of stuff. But I remember a moment of being, like, feeling so, like, insecure, like, well, I can see my eyebrows lifting. I can see this. I can. And so when you were talking about that, I really felt it.
A
It's just a lot. And I, like, Russell, can only take so much. And I feel like I only have like a couple people that can really go deep into those layers in. And I don't want to bother people with this crap. So you're on a show to share your life and you have other people who are on this show to share their lives. You think you can intermingle all those things. And I do talk with someone and when I realize that they're not even listening to the basics of, like, how's, how's it going? And I start talking and then I get interrupted. Like, it's just, you'll see. What got me to the point of like, I'm like, I'm just gonna do it right now. Like, I was just over. I was up to here. I'm like, they don't listen. They don't want to listen. They don't care. They just. All the feelings of like, feeling so, like, low. And I'm like, I'm like, they don't care about me, so. So if the system is rigged, blow it. Blow up the spot. Yeah, that was, that was why I'm doing it now. When they go low, you go high. Well, sometimes when they go low, you go lower. Yeah, I'm the one who literally is like, Obama. Yeah. Hi. Go. Hi, Larsa. This time I'm like we're going to the pits of hell. Shit. Oh, you know, my best moment. But you know what?
B
It happens.
A
Yeah.
B
How are you? How are you overall feeling like. Just remind just some of our listeners what kind of treatments you ended up having to go through and how long you've been.
A
So there is a thing called cancer brain because I looked at the confessional that I did and I said, I have five chemo surgery, five chemo treatment. I only have four. I'm like, why did I say five? Four chemo brain.
B
I have it too, but I don't have chemo. So I. Maybe it's immunotherapy.
A
Yeah, it's a cancer foggy thing.
B
Did you have a little shakes? Did you have a little.
A
I had a little bit of everything, girl. Shake, drop and roll. Okay, it was a little bit of everything. But what was the question? See, I came. So I had four chemo treatments, 20 radiations. Now. Now it's actually up to nine surgeries because I had to do, you know, the whole thing. So, yeah. Night. And then I take a nastrozole, which is my. I'm an estrogen receptor. And so I'm taking that from five to 10 years, depending on how my body does. I have hot flashes. It causes severe hot flashes. The pill I take, plus I had to get medical, you know, hysterectomy pulled. So I hysterectomy. And so those two are screwing up my body. And my body is still trying to figure out what happened because I'm not supposed to be in menopause right now. So I take a pill to try to counter that. So I'm like Cinderella. I have seven hours to be okay in the streets, girl. I. Sometimes I cut that pill in half, Which I know, Dr. Don't. Don't kill me. I do cut it in half. I'm not supposed to. I know we're going to take this on half because we have a brunch and we're going to take it on half because we have a dinner. So. Yeah, you just kind of is the new medications alone. Yeah.
B
Even like everything that I take is a non narcotic. But I swear they make me feel a certain way.
A
Yeah.
B
And I. I know that.
A
Yeah. They don't make me feel a certain way. Well, anastasol does because it flushes me. So like I do get like the jitters a little bit more because of it. So I don't. And I was already hyper, so Now I'm on 10 all the time. I feel like, you know, but there's nothing I can do about it. When am I supposed to do.
B
Yeah. And so you're feeling good, but you're feeling a little hyper. But are you. How often do you have to go in to get rechecked?
A
Every six months.
B
Every six.
A
Every six months. I just booked my next mammogram. Yeah. So every six months, I get checked.
B
What tip would you tell another woman right now who's concerned that something might be going on with them?
A
Oh, if you see something, say something. Absolutely no reason. What's the reason? To wait?
B
Yeah.
A
Because you're losing a day in your life. You should be gaining one by. By getting checked to be proactive, preactive, you know? So I think that people definitely, you know, get a move on it. If you haven't gotten checked because you're scared, just fight. It's better to find out now than you finding out on stage four. You don't want that heat. Okay.
B
You don't want it. You don't want it. And it. Because it's different. I have different. We have different cancer. She doesn't have cancer anymore. Oh, gosh. But the fact that. What age should people be going and getting their mammograms?
A
Well, I tricked the system, I think. So I was getting a boob job. I was getting a boob job after my son Liam, my second son. And then they found a lot of calcification and density. And then the doctors are. Well, before I do the boob job, I need to make sure you're not. You don't have anything in you. So I was like, 30. I'm at 30. What is. Yeah, 35. Yeah, yeah, 35. So I had my. My thing, like, around 37, I think. So I had my mammogram before 40, and then I had to keep going because of the fact that I was already in the system. So every year I started going, so try to pretend you're gonna get a boob job, and then hopefully.
B
And then they'll give it to you a little early.
A
Never know if you got a lot of density in your breasts. So I got them earlier. So. Thank God. Yeah.
B
Gosh. Is there any other little tidbits you want to share with us or open up to that you think our listeners would gain from?
A
Listen when. Here's the thing about it, like, you know, I want to. My main goal being an advocate for cancer in general, but also to break the stigma of people hiding or not wanting to talk about the C word, the cancer word. We need to start normalizing it because 1 in 8 women is going to have cancer, breast cancer, and 1 in 3, any type of other cancer. So someone you know, you will be affected in some way, shape or form. And if we learn anything about last season. Okay, you want to be at least empathetic to someone who says they have cancer. You should know the basic commandments.
B
Yeah.
A
You know, you know, keep it calm, keep it to yourself. You know, be. Be a little bit more open minded. Don't be so, you know, like, try.
B
To pretend you're not a doctor because you're not.
A
Yeah. Don't question. Don't question if the person has it or not. And make it a gossip thing. There's a lot of things that we can do. So, you know you don't have a book, right? Yes. Oh, my God. Wait, I got a book.
B
Hold on.
A
What? Yes, ma'. Am.
B
Congratulations.
A
So the book I wrote, actually, you know, two years, which is recently, I wrote it after having cancer because I wanted to wait to see how I felt about everything. And then I had layered issues of trauma in the past, including the. The cancer, which was traumatic. So my book is from trauma to trophies and the unforeseen events that redefined me.
B
So I need to read.
A
This is not a cancer book, but the cancer is in there. On how it changed me from the Gertie before to Gertie 2.0. And so now I'm like, this is a. For pre order.
B
For pre order.
A
It's for pre order and it's going to be out by November and hopefully by BravoCon.
B
Can I please have one?
A
Soon I will hook you up with a freaking copy before anybody.
B
I think there's so many things.
A
Things.
C
No.
B
That people don't know and don't understand, and especially even about the way to talk to people. Yes. When they have. Like, I always tell all of my friends, I don't know if maybe this is just me, but I'm like, please stop asking me questions.
A
You know, when, before I walked into the room, guess what? I asked her, I said, how is she feeling? Does she want to talk about anything around the C word? Yes. No. Okay. And I'm like, hi. Hi, Teddy. How you doing, girl? You open up the conversation.
B
Yeah, no, I don't mind. I don't mind that. But you know when somebody will text you, you and they'll be like, hey, babe, miss you. How are you feeling? What's going on?
A
All day? You just. You just got out of the doctor's office.
B
I'm like, I can barely see.
A
Thank you. No, me Too. Okay. My eyesight too well.
B
I can barely see, man. I'm going to need the audiobook when.
A
I. I'm doing the audiobook as well. But. And this book is the beginning of the chapter of me talking to people about the different facets. The next book I'm going to write is about the carevivers. So Russell's gonna get in on that. Now what your man is doing what? How is he feeling? What is he taking care of? How is he affected by it? That is like that blind spot that we feel like it's all about us.
B
How's your sex life going now?
A
It's much better. Girl. I'm taking a pill. Honey. I took a pill. I'll tell you about that later. Oh, okay.
B
I need to hear all about that just in case.
A
Yes, but like, you know it's dry down there. Okay. I guess. But like Russell, with my eyes, I'm all like excited, right? So I'm wet up here and then I'm like dried out there. So I'm like, hey you, come on, focus, get it together. Clap on.
B
Instead. It's a pill.
A
Boom. Yes, yes, I'm ready. So yeah, there's a lot of things that is like you know, happening. And Dr. Jackie from Married to Medicine. Oh, you know, she. I'm going to tease exclusive. She makes a cameo. Oh, she does a cameo. I got to call my backup, honey. I'm like, listen. Yeah, so you're going to see a little bit of her and she's a two time cancer survivor and so she has a whole sex tools and all that stuff that she sent my way so you know, she could tell her.
B
To send it my way.
A
You know what, good for you and your boyfriend. That's an ex boyfriend.
B
Hold on. We're not together.
A
I know he's an ex boyfriend, but good for you and your future boyfriend or whoever, honey, girlfriend, boyfriend, whatever you want to do. You have one life and who are we to judge people and what they be doing? Who?
B
I'm sorry, did you watch the show Dying for Sex?
A
No. What is that?
B
Oh my gosh. It's about Michelle Williams and she has. Michelle Williams is in it and she had cancer.
A
Okay.
B
And it's terminal.
A
Yeah.
B
And it's like all the things she does in her last day, like, and just watching that made and granted, this is far from where I am right now.
A
We're nowhere near it.
B
But I think we have to get to a place where we're talking about it.
A
Let's break the stigma and let's break the stigma.
B
It's like the way nobody used to talk about ever having a mistake. Miscarriage.
A
Yeah.
B
And now we can say it.
A
And there's eight other like. No. There's so many festivals.
B
Yeah.
A
We're gonna be starting a podcast, me and Teddy introducing you to. You know what?
B
We we haven't come Trauma and trophies.
A
Oh my God, I love it.
B
Oh, well, thanks for joining us. And you guys can find Gertie online on Instagram at Gertie Design. Gertie Design. Thanks for coming on and joining us.
A
Love you guys.
