Teddi Mellencamp
Hi, it's Teddi Mellencamp and Tamara Judge. Welcome back to Two T's in a Pod, live from Bravocon in Las Vegas. It's such a fun, busy weekend, and we want to make sure you get as many episodes as possible. So we have a special guest co host for you. Alexis Bellino is here. Take it away, Alexis. I've got Gertie and Russell, everybody. Yeah, I know you're jealous.
Gretchen Rossi
Energy over here. And then we got the Yang over there.
Teddi Mellencamp
She's okay. The Yang, Yang, Yang. I love it. I literally have just met you. I'm a little bit like, I'm kind of fangirling right now. It's kind of cool. And she has the book coming out. When is it? Tomorrow. Tomorrow. And it's called from trauma to trophies. Okay. This is unbelievable that I get to actually sit here in the presence of this right now. Let me get back to my notes. Okay.
Gretchen Rossi
Hot chair. The hot seat.
Teddi Mellencamp
You're in the hot seat. I have some questions for you. Are you ready? All right, Gertie, are you ready?
Gretchen Rossi
I am ready.
Teddi Mellencamp
With those earrings, you can. You could murder someone. So we're good.
Gretchen Rossi
And away we go.
Teddi Mellencamp
Okay, I want to know first of all, you have been to other Bravo cons?
Gretchen Rossi
Yes, I have.
Teddi Mellencamp
How many?
Gretchen Rossi
Two.
Teddi Mellencamp
Okay, so for 20, the two years ago was your first.
Gretchen Rossi
No, four.
Teddi Mellencamp
Oh.
Gretchen Rossi
And then.
Teddi Mellencamp
So you've been to three. This is your third.
Gretchen Rossi
It hasn't happened yet, honey. It's official tomorrow. So, you know.
Teddi Mellencamp
Well, this is. Bro. This is kind of Bravo.
Gretchen Rossi
This is like the pre Bravo concert.
John Mellencamp
The Bravo Con.
Teddi Mellencamp
Yeah.
John Mellencamp
Oh, my gosh.
Teddi Mellencamp
Okay. So how are you feeling about it this year?
Gretchen Rossi
I am very excited because I gave birth. Okay. I gave birth to this baby that had been writing for many, many, many months.
Teddi Mellencamp
All I know is that must have taken. Yeah. Say, months. Was it a year or was it months?
Gretchen Rossi
It was close to a year, but I was writing one therapy session at a time. Honey. I cannot wait to write a damn memoir.
Teddi Mellencamp
All I know is if I get to sit here with you, I better get one of those books.
Gretchen Rossi
Honey, that's for you.
Teddi Mellencamp
Okay. See, it all works out. It all works out. Okay. How have you been since the reunion? The Miami reunion?
Gretchen Rossi
Thriving. You know, I mean, what you do is you leave things where they are. And in my book, actually, I talk about this new theory and Mel Robbins. Don't you dare come for me, baby. Because Mel Robbins got this amazing theory which was actually a believer of, which is the Let them theory. Right. Let them tell lies on you. Let them do that and do this, and you just kind of, like, you know, brush it off. And then I was like, that's not really a Gertie trait. Right. So I took ownership of my actions, and that's the let me theory. So you know what? You want to go ahead and be selective in the lies, and you want to be selective in the apologies. I will let you let them, but I will let me not accept apologies where they're not due. And I will let me do what I got to do to keep my peace.
Teddi Mellencamp
You just made me have a sigh. And you know what? Therapy, always. I've been in years of therapy because Lord knows my life's not been always easy. And the therapist always says when you do that, it's. It's a sign that you are receiving it and you are. It's actually resonating with you. And that is an amazing tactic. So my tactic is real quick because I got to stick. But my tactic is you. When you're in a relationship. Russell. Okay, we're with Russell right now, too.
Gretchen Rossi
Where are you going? Where are you going? Where's he going?
Teddi Mellencamp
Holy heck. 30 years.
Gretchen Rossi
He's.
Teddi Mellencamp
He's here. Mine is you put something on the shelf. You don't have to talk about it, right? Then you take a. You take a breath, you put it on the shelf. You pull it out tomorrow morning, and it. Or whatever, whatever, you've both processed and can talk about it calmly. You pull it off, but you're. Let it. Let them is freaking brilliant.
Gretchen Rossi
It depends on the relationship, right? With this one, right? Here, I got to sleep with this man. So we're going to hash it out. It depends on the relationship. Because you know what the key before you do the let me theory is to create an environment that's a sanctuary for you. Because once I let you do you and I don't really care about the consequences anymore because you've hurt me so much, etcetera, then I get to say no and set boundaries and then come home to my family and the good times and the good people around me. So that's why you're able to let go of those things, because I win in life.
Teddi Mellencamp
You're teaching a lot of reality people some good tactics right here. That's why everyone needs that book.
Gretchen Rossi
Because speaking of the reunion, people expect that reunion to be like, they're gonna make up and there's gonna be a beautiful bow tie, and we're gonna move on. And guess what? I'm not always cutting that monotony down. I'm gonna say, you know what? We're gonna gratify this bitch, and we're not gonna do what they really think that we should do, because it's not their life and it's mine. Thank you.
Teddi Mellencamp
That's called a trophy right there, people. Okay, so what is your current relationship like with the rest of the cast at this moment?
Gretchen Rossi
To me, for me, it's neutral because I don't have any beef with anybody. They got beef with me. Maybe, perhaps, I don't know. They're gonna, you know, deny it and it's fine. But obviously, actions speak louder. Loud. Lisa, Adriana, Stephanie. I have no issues with these girls.
Teddi Mellencamp
They.
Gretchen Rossi
They really have showed me and poured into my cup, so I poured back into theirs, and that's the type of friendship I want. It's gotta be yin yanging.
Teddi Mellencamp
Are you ready to see them all?
Gretchen Rossi
Absolutely.
Teddi Mellencamp
And you're okay? Like, will you be. Will you be okay? Good. Even though you've had some beef? See, that's what I love, because that's. Honestly, in this hard world that we live in of reality tv, you have to be able to kind of brush things off the shoulder and go. I mean, unless it cuts too deep. I get that. You touch my man, there's going to be effing problem. But, like, no, you know, like, It's.
Gretchen Rossi
It's.
Teddi Mellencamp
Yeah. 30 years together. Yeah. Russell. Okay, first of all, I need to hear from you because you're just sitting there so calm and cool and collected. So. So you are. John is super. So soft and calm and whatever. And then I'm like you. I'm this fiery, like. Like, everything.
Gretchen Rossi
It works, though.
Teddi Mellencamp
It works.
Gretchen Rossi
So they love it.
Teddi Mellencamp
They, like, how do you handle all of this? Meaning her?
John Mellencamp
Well, I mean, I gotta let her do her thing.
Teddi Mellencamp
So are you tired at the end of the day? No, not.
John Mellencamp
Well, sometimes. Yeah. You know, we know each other very well, and, you know, going back to that thing, we like to face things head on because we don't like to let things linger. But.
Teddi Mellencamp
Yeah, but with that said. And I love that tactic, too, but there's times when one of the partners can't process it all at that moment. And it's like, look, and John used it on me the other day, and I was just like, don't use my tool. That's my tool. You cannot put it up on the shelf because I don't want to right now. And he's like, babe, I need a minute. Let's just use your tool, put it up there, and we'll talk about it tomorrow. And we did, and it was fine. So I think.
John Mellencamp
And that's part of having a good relationship, I think, knowing. Okay, normally we. We face things head on, but this time, Hey, I need a minute.
Gretchen Rossi
Yeah, and you're okay.
John Mellencamp
All right, let's. Let's read.
Teddi Mellencamp
And then you still go to bed happy. And there's no problem. It's just. We're gonna pull it off the shelf tomorrow.
Gretchen Rossi
He's my best friend. Like, I still look at him and he walks in the room and I'm like, I would still. I would. And that's what. That's when I know.
Teddi Mellencamp
Hey, that's when, you know, 30 years later, God, please bless me with that. Please, Lord. I know. Me too. Okay, so from your new book out the Traumas to Trophies, okay, what is, like, what inspired you? I think I know already, but I think other listeners might want to know what inspired you for this book.
Gretchen Rossi
I mean, listen, when you've lost a brother, two nieces in earthquake, when you've beat cancer, when you. You've gone through the trauma of how you came to this country, let alone. I love this room. It's like a party room. I love it.
Teddi Mellencamp
This is the room to be. Hey, guys.
Gretchen Rossi
Yes, Brittany?
Teddi Mellencamp
Everybody should want to be here.
Gretchen Rossi
And, yeah, so, like, you get to a point where you just want, like, release. And, you know, what is no longer for you to hold release, what no longer serves you. And it's just an amazing process because it gets you to a place like here, and you get to become a hashtag traffic.
Teddi Mellencamp
And by the way, no one can see you because this is, I think this is voice only. I don't see any cameras. But you, you look amazing. I want the, I want the listeners to know that she has edgy, super edgy gold earrings on that are like the bomb and also will kick somebody's booty if they try to mess with her. But then her black dress, she, she just looks the bomb. Okay, so tell us about the, the trophy girl movement. Like, what does that mean to you?
Gretchen Rossi
The trophy girl movement knows what, she knows what she wants. She's not lollygagging and just like being a follower and just doing whatever to get, you know, go along to get along. It's not about that. It's like you could be the lonely lioness, not a following sheep. And I said, I said that before and I say it again, and there's nothing wrong with standing still in your own and just being like, you know what? I'd rather be in my truth and me, my own little world if that makes me happy and make me feel like I, I'm, you know, keeping my integrity.
Teddi Mellencamp
Guys, you've already gotten two slogans from her. Okay, now we've got the. Then we've got the. No, she's full of wisdom, but she now says, get along, go along to get along. I mean, that is such a, that's something I'm going to take home to my twins. My, my 17, 18 year old starts.
Gretchen Rossi
Young and that's what my mother passed down to me. And I talk about this in my book. It's like, you know, you're a diamond. You don't break, you don't, you don't follow. You're, you're, you're, you are the leader. You are your own leader. And that's just the way I was brought up. And I just can't shake it off. I just can'.
Teddi Mellencamp
Mom, your mom did amazing. Okay, so, okay, I've got, I've only got a few minutes because you know that we are, we are bringing the, the Bravo celebs in and out this door. You. I'm sorry.
Gretchen Rossi
Rotating door, baby.
Teddi Mellencamp
I'm glad that you're good with that. Are there any parts of the book that you were nervous about, people to know or, or, or read?
Gretchen Rossi
Yes, of course. Yeah. The way I came to this country is a long story, but the fact is that I was dropped off pretty much one of seven kids. My younger brother, my, Me and my younger brother taken to Miami and kind of were told, okay, we'll be back for you. And we're only. I'm only nine and he's 11. It's like three months later. You know, again, it's seven kids. So I understand the, you know, the evolution of like getting here, but it was like, I don't speak this language. Who are these people? Three months of hell. And the book details of what I went through and how it affected my sense of needing control and thus being the party extraordinaire per Vogue and Harper Bazaar and Martha and Dem.
Teddi Mellencamp
Okay, Gertie, first of all, I love y' all's relationship. I've been known you a brief moment at the moment, but I feel so like, I feel the love and the energy and you can always feel that with people. But where can people find you? And. And the book.
Gretchen Rossi
Yeah.
Teddi Mellencamp
Like what is give us all the goods Trauma.
Gretchen Rossi
The trophies is out. It's alive. It's at the BravoCon Bazaar. So you can definitely check it out on Bravo.com on Bravo TV.com as well as everywhere. Amazon, Shopify, the whole thing. But right now it is absolutely exclusive at BravoCon Bazaar.
Teddi Mellencamp

Gretchen Rossi
You better stream y. Streamers can definitely go on.
Teddi Mellencamp
There you go, guys. It's been a pleasure. I love meeting both of you.
Gretchen Rossi
Thank you.
Teddi Mellencamp
Let's get on with.
John Mellencamp
What a matchup we got, y'.
Gretchen Rossi
