Two T's in a Pod with Teddy Mellencamp and Tamara Judge.
Teddy Mellencamp
Hi, it's Teddy Mellencamp and Tamara Judge.
Tamara Judge
Welcome back to Two T's in a Pod, live from BravoCon in Las Vegas.
Teddy Mellencamp
It's such a fun, busy weekend, and we want to make sure you get as many episodes as possible. So we have a special guest co host for you.
Tamara Judge
Alexis Bellino is here. Take it away, Alexis.
Alexis Bellino
Alex Baskin just admitted he doesn't like the tables turned. Oh, honey. I'm like, you have no idea what's up in my sleeve right now. All right, we are here. Oh, my gosh. I feel like I have the President of the United States in front of me, but now I have Alex Baskin. Yeah. Everybody say hi.
Alex Baskin
It's good to see you.
Alexis Bellino
It's good to see you, too.
Alex Baskin
I was very happy to sit down with you, but now I'm kind of having second thoughts. Was this a good idea?
Alexis Bellino
Well, you can run, but there's like, six people blocking the door, so you can try.
Alex Baskin
All right, I guess I'm stuck.
Alexis Bellino
Here we are. You're stuck. Okay, so first of all, my first question is, you're super busy, so thank you for taking time out to sit down with me for a few minutes. But what is it like when you come to a BravoCon and you have hundreds of your people that work for you here? Like, what is it like to run into each of them and juggle?
Alex Baskin
Yeah, I mean, it's chaos. First of all, I'm really proud of the shows and obviously takes an army to make them. And, you know, you really get a sense of how much the shows mean to the audience when you're in a setting like this. So all of that is very cool. But you're pulled from one place to another, and that's why I was really Glad that you asked me to come here, because getting out of the carnival feels really good too.
Alexis Bellino
You did say that. Guys, when he walked in. I'll give you a little behind the scenes. When he walked in, we were all like, oh, my gosh, we can't believe you're here and you have time for us. And Alex's response was, it feels good. I'm happy to get away so he can breathe. Even though he's about to get grilled, he's happy. Okay, so who is it? Do you have any strife with anyone right now when you're here with any of the Bravo labs?
Alex Baskin
I only have conflict with the people who aren't here. So there's a few of those, but.
Alexis Bellino
Can you give us the dish?
Alex Baskin
But no. I mean, I would just say I'm fine with everyone here.
Alexis Bellino
Yeah.
Alex Baskin
And so it's mostly just nice to run into people, but, yeah, it's also nice not to see a few people too. Right.
Alexis Bellino
Okay. He's trying. Guys, I'm just letting you know he's trying to dance around that question so we'll move on to the next one. He's trying. He's giving the very political answer. It's okay. We like that. Honey, we have to do that here, too.
Alex Baskin
Have to be diplomatic or.
Alexis Bellino
Diplomatic. That's the word. Yes, that's Alexiasm. See, diplomatic is what I meant. Okay, so let's. Let me ask a little bit about this season, since I am an Orange county housewife. Ex housewife. But this season was very juicy. So my number one question. Well, I just wanted to kind of get your. Pick your brain on this, But I dove in a lot to research on lie detector tests. So I just want to know, like, what is your feeling about how authentic or real that lie detector test that you put on all of those women really was?
Alex Baskin
Well, I mean, it was authentic in the sense that it was a real company and they gave the test. Obviously, it's not admissible in court, and so I think that everybody should take it as seriously as they should. It was Emily's idea to do the lie detector test in the first place. And then the behind the scenes of it is we needed to find a lie detector test company that actually would do the show. So I think that it's been pointed out by a lot of the audience that you've seen that company in other shows. And, you know, again, clearly they're willing to show up on camera. But more than anything, it's just fun for the show. And again, it was Emily's idea And it sort of carried forward the story of this season.
Alexis Bellino
I love everything you just said, because, you know, when I was on Marriage Boot Camp, we had a lie detector test company also. And I think it was. Somebody said, it's the. There's only a few. Andy Cohen said, there's only a few companies that will actually do that on a national television show. So ours was not the same. The Marriage Boot Camp was not the same company. I had to Google that, because then I went back to marriage boot camp 2018. Is it the same company that did URLs? It is not, by the way. But it is important for everyone to understand that not everybody wants to put themselves in front of a camera in national television. So I do get that. I just felt a little bit like I felt bad for Katie, for instance, because there's no way one person's gonna fail every single question or, you know, or someone's gonna get every single question right. It's just. I don't see how that could be possible unless you're super, super stressed. Maybe she was so caught up in her own, you know, fears of doing the lie detector that she just was gonna fail all of it. And then they also say the only people that can pass all of the questions are sociopaths. So.
Alex Baskin
Yeah. Yeah.
Alexis Bellino
Something to think about right there.
Alex Baskin
What do you mean, Alexis? No, I feel bad for also. And it's also difficult to be in a situation where you have essentially the entire group on one side and you're explaining yourself on the other, and then you're subject to a lie detector test. So obviously, that was not a positive experience for her, and I felt for her. And again, this is not a court of law, so.
Alexis Bellino
Exactly. That's a really important point for everyone to understand, is that. And I say this analogy all the time on every podcast I do. It's like, we are not performing brain surgery, people. We are here to entertain America and to make people laugh and to give a little bit of fun and lighten up life a little bit. So I do think that. And so what do you feel like? Everyone wants to know. I know you're not gonna tell me. Cause you don't even know, but I'm just gonna ask. Everyone's going, you know, Katie's definitely not gone for good. What is she? Or are you gonna give another diplomatic answer?
Alex Baskin
Well, the real answer is we're figuring out what we're doing, and I genuinely mean that. We have not made any decisions we needed to get through the reunion. And not all of reunion has Aired. So part two just aired. Part three, which is really explosive, is next week, obviously, so just wait for that. And we just did casting, so we're taking a look at that and we're having all the conversations that we need to have as we figure out what to do in what is a really big season. It's season 20.
Tamara Judge
Right.
Alex Baskin
So a lot of considerations surrounding that. So we have our work cut out for us for sure.
Alexis Bellino
Oh my gosh. Yeah. I do not want to be in your shoes. I would. I honestly, I don't. Could never be in your shoes. Could never deal with this many women all the time. Like, hello. Okay, okay, tell me about that. How many texts. How many texts do you get from women being. I was gonna go a different direction, but now I have to say this. How many texts a day do you get from women when you're in the middle of a season of them just like coming at you? Cause I remember when I last season 18, hello. I'm the prime example.
Alex Baskin
No, it can be. It's a lot in a given day. And I think the other thing is there's a lot of work to do and sometimes I get calls that are. Wanna take hours and I just don't have the time. And I'm like, this is really great. I would love to talk to you all day. But I have like, that's not true.
Alexis Bellino
You do not want to sit and talk to them all day.
Alex Baskin
Well, that's true. Okay, so I don't. Yes. Right. That's hooked me up a lot. No. Yeah.
Alexis Bellino
No, it's like, okay, look, the clock ticking. And I might. By the way, everybody, I need every. I need every listener to know this. Because you don't know this about Alex. He is the most punctual person I've ever met in my entire life. I've never had so many phone calls or meetings set up with him where it's like, it's 12 o', clock, but I get the call at 11:59 and 34 seconds. I'm like, it's not even 12 yet. But he is super punctual and I love it. You know what I'm learning from you?
Alex Baskin
Honestly, I have to keep a schedule. Then even on my way here, I texted Spencer. Cause I felt that I was like, I'm running four minutes late.
Alexis Bellino
Do you know how happy I was to get that text?
Alex Baskin
Well, he was like, take your time.
Alexis Bellino
I think I was 10 minutes late getting back up here and I still got caught up with everything. But that is just so. That is hysterical.
Alex Baskin
You Gotta keep it moving, you know.
Tamara Judge

I mean, will you. You honestly have, like, one of the toughest jobs. And I kind of compare you to. I mean, I can't compare you to Ryan Seacrest, but I'm kind of like that because I feel like you've got so many hats that you have to do, you know, like, it's not just, oh, I'm producing this show right now, and then you have a crisis on another show that you have to deal with, and then you have a crisis client like, Or a cast member like me. And then it's like, I mean, I just. I get exhausted thinking about you.
Alex Baskin
Well, there isn't any downtime, so it's ongoing. But that's the life I chose to lead. And I'm also fortunate that there's enough business to keep me busy. Right. I mean, the alternative is really scary. When you're not making any shows or you're dependent on one show and you want to give each show its love and its due. So every show has to be the most important. And so it's a lot of juggling.
Alexis Bellino
Yeah. But I think the alternative is also boring.
Alex Baskin
It is like.
Alexis Bellino
Like, I don't wanna wake up in the morning and not be packed.
Alex Baskin
You know, I say it all the time. Like, whenever I have a moment of quiet and I have time to get all of the work done that I've been waiting to do, I almost panic. I don't know what to do with myself. So I'm really used to the action. It's exciting.
Alexis Bellino
That is so true. And I've noticed in my older age. Cause maybe it's because I'm 48, but now. But it's like the busier I am, the more I get done in a day. And I know there's that saying that says, if you want something done, ask the busiest person. You know, I've noticed that if I have a slower day, it's almost like I really just want to put on my sweats and watch a show. I don't want a housewife show. Okay. But it's like, yeah, so. So I think being busy, you are the epitome of knocking out 25 hours in a 24 hour day. I think that for sure. But let me ask you another question that just dawned on me. So you were talking a minute, about. A minute ago about how busy you are. Do you have any personal. Like, do you have anyone in your life?
Alex Baskin
No, I mean, I don't. I have plenty of friends. I have an active social life. Otherwise single, but honestly, never lonely and never wanting for anything to do. And also my life requires a. There's a social component to the job.
Alexis Bellino
And so you're so done talking by the end of the day, I'm sure you go home and you're like, I do not want to talk to one more person.
Alex Baskin
I don't want to talk to anyone. Right. I mean, it's the thing and stuff when someone asks you how was your day? And like, I don't have time to answer that. I don't want to answer that. So that's a stressful question. But, yeah, no, I mean, I. I am overstimulated by my job, that's for sure.
Alexis Bellino
Are you add?
Alex Baskin
Probably. Probably. Yeah, I would imagine so.
Teddy Mellencamp
I think so.
Alexis Bellino
I think we all.
Alex Baskin
Yeah, I.
Alexis Bellino
So am. I couldn't. My makeup artist today, I was sitting there in the chair and he's like, can you just sit down and don't move? And I'm like, but I got to get this. And then my phone rang and then this. And he's like, just sit down. And I'm working. I did a podcast. I did a podcast while he's doing my hair. Like, I'm sorry.
Alex Baskin
27 things at once.
Alexis Bellino
Sorry. Add ADHD. Didn't they say that almost every president that they've ever done this statistic on has that Every president of the United States, because of the fact that they have to be able to multi. They have to be able to multitask. Is that. Am I. Somebody, please, please. Some viewer let me know or listener let me know if I'm right about that. But I did hear that somewhere, and I think it's true. I don't see there's any other way that you can run a country without having it.
Alex Baskin
No, I mean, yeah, that's right. That's the order today. If you're trying to do a million things at once, then your attention has to be everywhere.
Alexis Bellino
Okay, so where are you headed? I think that. I know you gotta get going, but I think the viewer or the listeners probably wanna know, what are you going to now? Like, you have to go back and just be at the Bravo cons or where are you headed right now?
Alex Baskin
So I have it was a great morning. So, couple exciting announcements. We dropped the super tease for spinoff of the Valley. The Valley, Persian style.
Alexis Bellino
Stop it.
Alex Baskin
With the Shahs of Sunset in a new group.
Alexis Bellino
Saw them last night. Ran into them. I'm so excited.
Alex Baskin
So love those guys. And then we also just announced the new series we're doing with Jeff Lewis called Still Flipping Out. That's the working title.
Alexis Bellino
Oh, my gosh.
Alex Baskin
So really excited about that. And then it's the Beverly Hills panel right now, which I'm missing to be here with you.
Alexis Bellino
Okay. Okay. I don't feel worthy enough for that, but thank you so much.
Alex Baskin
I'm happy to do it.
Alexis Bellino
Keep going. Cause here goes your day and I'm already exhausted. I need to go. I need to take a nap and.
Alex Baskin
Then I have to go back to my hotel. I have to do a little bit of work and then. Cause you know, that's still happening right now, even in this carnival. And then I have a drinks and then I have a dinner and then it's Andy's show. And then who knows what happens after that. And then we wake up and we run it back. We do it again.
Alexis Bellino
I hear you, but I think that everyone would wanna know that. And that's what you're doing. And so you know what, guys? I have to let him go because he's running here. He got four minutes late. He's gotta rush to his next place. But we are so thankful here that you took time out for us and you actually answered some hard questions.
Alex Baskin
Oh, good. I'm glad I didn't disappoint you on this other. On the other side of the mic here.
Alexis Bellino
Yeah, he'll never come back, guys. Sorry, I'm a one and done.
Alex Baskin
No, you know what? You were nicer to me than Teddi and Tamara have been.
Alexis Bellino
Well, okay, that's a whole nother podcast.
Alex Baskin
Tess asked me why she was fired from Beverly Hills. What kind of question is.
Alexis Bellino
And I've already had a talk, so I already know my answers for all of that. But I also, it's. I mean, when you have his text, you can just like, you can blow off on him and then come, you know, come back around. But anyway, I do adore you and just enjoyed this so much for this 20 minutes has made my day. So thank you so much.
