David Skyman is a Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP) Master Trainer with more than 20 years of experience in the field. In this conversation, David talks about the power of NLP and how the therapeutic process can be used to shape our lives. Our government in Westminster boasted in its 2010 Cabinet Office document 'MINDSPACE: Influencing Behaviour through Public Policy' that it now had the power to change the way people thought and behaved. This claim was true, and the Government had initially developed these manipulative psychological policies within its Behavioural Insights Team (BIT).In 2015, Brian Gerrish warned of the political dangers of Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP) in his article ‘From Magic to Madness — The Government's NLP Assault on Our Minds’. At that time, he was a lone voice warning of the risks. Some ten years later, Brian has now had an important discussion on the Government's malicious use of political applied psychology and hypnosis with NLP Master Trainer David Skyman. David warns that “[The behavioural] manipulation is not just coming through news — it's coming through programmes, it's coming through sitcoms, it's coming through cartoons and everything. So stop watching the TV, and start watching things that make sense”.Particular emphasis is placed on how governments and businesses use NLP to control belief and behaviour — especially how it was used during the Covid years. With his decades of experience, David also argues that NLP can be used for good. Using the gun analogy, he suggests that NLP itself is not necessarily a problem; it’s the person or institution using it.This is an interview for anyone interested in the human mind and why those in power are so determined to control it.Please note that there is a slight video delay when Brian is speaking. The video for David is fine, as is the audio for both David and Brian. Please do not adjust your sets. This interview also appears as an interesting article by Professor Diane Rasmussen in the latest issue of our quarterly magazine The Column, available in the UK Column online shop.► Join UK Column Live every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 1pm UK time or watch previous live recordings here ► [UK Column Website] Explore all our written and video content on the official UK Column website ► [Support UK Column] Please donate to support our independent journalism & investigative journalism ► [UK Column YouTube] Please subscribe to the UK Column News YouTube channel for more alternative news and independent newsFollow #UKColumn on:► X► Telegram► Facebook ► Instagram

For years, Silicon Valley believed it would dominate artificial intelligence through closed, proprietary models. But what happens when China releases powerful open-source AI that anyone can run?In this episode, Carl Zha joins Jamarl Thomas to break down one of the biggest technological and geopolitical shifts happening today. They examine why Chinese AI companies are disrupting America's business model, whether the AI investment boom has become an unsustainable bubble, and how Europe's sanctions on China could end up hurting Europe more than Beijing. The conversation also explores the escalating South China Sea confrontation between China and the Philippines, the historical origins of the Spratly Islands dispute, and how great-power competition is reshaping global politics.Topics CoveredWhy China's open-source AI threatens Silicon ValleyIs the AI boom becoming another dot-com bubble?Europe's sanctions against China and China's retaliationThe future of NVIDIA, OpenAI and AI infrastructureSouth China Sea tensions explainedThe history behind the Spratly Islands disputeUS-China strategic competitionEurope's economic futureRare earths, supply chains and technology competition► Join UK Column Live every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 1pm UK time or watch previous live recordings here ► [UK Column Website] Explore all our written and video content on the official UK Column website ► [Support UK Column] Please donate to support our independent journalism & investigative journalism ► [UK Column YouTube] Please subscribe to the UK Column News YouTube channel for more alternative news and independent newsFollow #UKColumn on:► X► Telegram► Facebook ► Instagram

Jake paints his friend and fellow performer Matt Payne — aka Matt in the Hat — while they trace six years of friendship that began in lockdown Brighton. Matt takes us through the collapse of his old identity and the strange, synchronicity-laced rebirth that followed — one that took him from terrified lockdown obedience to the front line of the protest movement, and eventually to the harder, quieter work of looking at himself. They also discuss what has happened to the "freedom movement" since those early days — how the sense of unity at gigs and marches gave way to infighting and division. Matt argues the answer is not more finger-pointing outward but for people to actually examine themselves.A funny, unguarded conversation about identity, faith and self-doubt — a portrait of a man who turned a personal breakdown and a global crisis into a new life built on poetry, honesty, and made a star of his 92-year-old mum along the way.To see more of Matt's videos: https://www.youtube.com/@mattinahat6185To keep abreast of all things A Thousand Words go to https://substack.com/@jakefernFor more information on Jake Fern's art, go to https://www.jakefern.co.uk/ or https://www.therighteousbrothers.uk/► Join UK Column Live every Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 1pm UK time or watch previous live recordings here ► [UK Column Website] Explore all our written and video content on the official UK Column website ► [Support UK Column] Please donate to support our independent journalism & investigative journalism ► [UK Column YouTube] Please subscribe to the UK Column News YouTube channel for more alternative news and independent newsFollow #UKColumn on:► X► Telegram► Facebook ► Instagram
