This story takes place in the heart of the prairies. It's a place so flat, they say you can see the weather coming three days away. But this story is about a storm no one saw coming. She calls herself the Queen of Canada and is known for spreading conspiracy theories. Queen Romana's in power, and we're not paying any more bills. Utilities are free. It was the fall of 2023. Roman Adidolo, a woman calling herself the Queen of Canada, drove with a fleet of RVs into Richmond, Saskatchewan, population 100, where she set up her kingdom in an abandoned school.

We saw the place being barricaded, people standing on guard 24 hours a day.
Rachel Brown
She declared Covid a hoax, told her followers to stop paying taxes, and threatened anyone in town who crossed her path.

Why would you like me executed?
Rachel Brown
So the town banded together to get the cult out by any means necessary. You need to go far, far away. Told them to get the out of my village. Could it be another Waco? Was Richmond on the edge of disaster or something much stranger? They're using the Canadian people as their lab rats, and these actions will not go unpunished. A storm had arrived in Richmond, and it wasn't leaving anytime soon because the cult had been summoned by one of their own.
CBC Host
I invited Queen Romana to come to Richmond.

My name is Rachel Brown, and in this season of Uncover, I explore what happens when a conspiracy conspiracy theory lands in your backyard. It's the story of a cult in the small town it tore apart.
CBC Host
I fear some of the locals more than the cult because of our history and how long we've gone back on. Me and you will talk man to man like neighbors do. They brought out the beast. You got a piece of dirt so you could come and vote?
Rachel Brown
Cuckoo. Crazy people in this town, the penalty is death. Here is to making life hell. The cult Queen of Canada from CBC's Uncover. Coming soon. Wherever you get your podcasts, leave the phone down.
