Savannah
Welcome back to this week's episode of Unlocked. It's absolutely insane to think about how many episodes we've done of this podcast, but today we have on a good friend. Britt Jones. Welcome.
Britt
Hi, Savannah. Thanks for having me. I'm so excited.
Savannah
So Britt and I met actually, actually through Grayson, because her husband was Grayson's baseball coach, Right?
Britt
Yeah.
Savannah
So how long have y'all known Grayson?
Britt
For like, six years. Like, I cannot believe he's in college.
Savannah
That's crazy.
Britt
Yeah. Like, he would come over and then James would drive him home because he couldn't even drive. Yes.
Savannah
Oh, my gosh. Yeah, he would. Like, and Grayson's always been, like, an old soul. Like, always. And so, like, he would just want.
James
To hang out with James.
Savannah
Talk. And even now, like, when he went off to college, he was like, all right, well, James is gonna come over for dinner.
Britt
And I know they talk.
Savannah
It's amazing.
Britt
Yeah. It's like he's his mentor. He's his buddy, and I love that.
Savannah
Well, I'm grateful for it because before Grayson went to college, James was like, what? Yeah, he gave him the rundown. He did. Of real dad mode of like, yes.
Britt
Stuff. Like he does during the week. He's like, you better be. Or you better be. Go to your parents or anything. You better watch what you're doing down there.
Savannah
Yeah. And I love that. But also, before we go any further, so I have Britt on, because first off, I love her story. I love what she does. But you guys know, too, I love women owned businesses. And Britt decided last year. Right. Was it last year?
Britt
It was last year. Yeah.
Savannah
That she was gonna start her own business. And I've actually worn this hat on the podcast before.
Britt
Yeah.
Savannah
And they're Absolutely amazing. You know me, you know, I love a good hat, but I also love the meaning behind them. So you want to kind of go into that.
Britt
Yeah, I'll go into it. So I launched this brand in May of 2024, and God told me so many times to do this brand. It would. I would be in church and I would just hear him tell me. I remember I was looking at, like, a cardiology job and I remember seeing like a sea in the clouds. And I was like, oh, that's great. That's. God signed me. And I didn't realize that that was going to be my logo, like, two years later. Wow. So it's just crazy how God told me to do it. And just personal testimonies, I was like, I'm gonna launch this brand called Cover. Like, everyone's going through stuff. I wanna launch this brand and make everyone know that they're covered by God, like, whatever you could be going through. So I trademarked the Testimony Trucker. It just got approved yesterday, so I could do, like, circles.
Savannah
That's amazing.
Britt
Yeah. So I'm super excited about that. And then in the fall, I'm launching a T shirt, hoodie and crew neck, so. So I just approved the designs yesterday for that.
Savannah
No way. Oh, my gosh. I'm excited for that.
Britt
Yes.
Savannah
So covered. Can you kind of. Because I know you and I talked about it when you guys came over that night, just like your story with it and why it means so much to you.
Britt
Yeah. So my little boy was in occupational therapy and he is now four and a half. He'll be five in May, but at the time he was three. And he just wouldn't, you know, like, touch things, feel things, like eat a donut, a cupcake at birthday parties. He'd be by himself, wouldn't really want to go around people. And so I remember we were in therapy for a long time and the. It was 8 o'clock that morning and I asked the therapist, I was like, you know, do you think Riker has autism? And she's like, I don't think so. But if he did, you would just come right back here to therapy. And that night we went to a good friend's house and she's like an angel to me. And she, like, so in tune with God and she prays over us all the time in our family. And she's like, hey, before you and James leave here, I want to pray for you guys. And I was like, oh, my gosh. I was like, what do you want to pray about? And that's when she said, the spirit of autism is trying to enter in your son's life. And I want to pray over that spirit. And I was like, oh, my goodness, that's crazy. I just asked his therapist this morning about it. And so she prayed over him or she prayed over us. We prayed over him when we got home. And I'll never forget, two weeks later, he completely changed and he was doing all the things that he didn't used to do. And I'm like, you know what? Like, God works, you know, in ways. And see, I still, like, that's my second time hearing that.
Savannah
I still get chills.
Britt
Yeah. So I just feel like, you know, I was like. And that's when God kept telling me he's like, covered. And I just kept hearing it and I'm like, okay, I have to do something, whatever God's telling me to do. And yeah, I just love telling people, like, hey, everyone goes through stuff, you know?
Savannah
And what would you say has been like one of your most impactful moments since starting the brand?
Britt
Well, I love going to pop ups and meeting other people. And so I'll go to a pop up and someone's like, you're the covered girl. Or like wanting a hat or they share a story with me or, you know, I met like a lady and she's going through a divorce. It's like a divorce group at this pop up I was doing and I was like, oh my gosh, girls, you guys are all covered. You know, it's fun. And they were just telling me their stories and they're like, it's really refreshing, like, knowing we are covered by God. So it's meeting people, hearing their testimonies, their stories, and like, just knowing why I started it. But I was at the factory in Franklin yesterday and I saw a girl wearing my hat and I went up to her and I was like, you don't know me, but that's my brand that you're wearing. And it was like a wink from God. Like, keep going because it's getting there. Yeah. And it gets hard, you know, what.
Savannah
Would you say is the biggest has been the biggest hurdle?
Britt
I think just finding my place. Right. And getting my brand out there, you know, it's not easy. And every day you have to wake up. Like, God gave me the vision to do this and I'm going to do it every day. So, you know, I've been wholesaling and I'm thinking about going to the markets in Atlanta and Dallas and having a showroom to get my brand out there. But it's just every day, you have to be intentional with your brand, and it's not easy.
Savannah
And would you? Because I know, like, you and I, it was something. Because a lot of people don't really realize how influencing works or things of that nature. But you and I kind of talked about how when you started it, like, for a small business, it means a lot to have someone post about you or tag you in a post or just wear your product or something. Has that been a challenge for you, like, while starting this.
Britt
Yeah, definitely. I'll have people reach out that they want my hat, and I'll send a bunch, and then I write a really sweet note like, would you tag me or tag my brand? And then it's like, they don't, and I see them wearing, you know, so that's. It's hard. And I give away a lot because I want people to share and share the story. But, you know, I also am paying for it and paying for shipping and, you know, just. Yeah, so it'd be nice. But, yeah, it's not easy to ask people to promote your stuff. And as a small business, I don't have a lot of money to give someone to post for me.
Savannah
No. And that's the thing is, it's like, obviously there are companies that pay me to post. There's people that do whatever, but then there's just things that come across like, that just come across that you're like, no, I just want to do this. I want to do this for a friend or because I believe in it or just to be a good person. And it just baffles me every time that, like, people. It's just crazy. It's crazy.
Britt
But it gives me motivation to keep going because I'm like, one day I'm gonna have a storefront, you know, in Nashville, and one day I'm gonna be like, remember when you know?
Savannah
Yeah.
Britt
You know, so I'm so grateful.
Savannah
Like, what would you say is, like, the coolest person that has purchased your products or you've seen wear it?
Britt
Yeah. I feel like there's a lot of cool people like you, of course, Savannah Grayson Chase, like, of course. But someone that really embodies covered and that, like, is a living, walking testament is Elizabeth Hasselback. And I was like, oh, my gosh. She went on my website and bought hats, and I was like, james, I just got orders from Elizabeth Hasselback, and she was shipping them to other people, like, around Christmas time. But that's just. It was really cool, you know? Because she loves Jesus and she talks, she's open about her faith.
Savannah
And how would you. I think, too, for people listening that may not be there yet with their faith. Like, has your faith always been where it's at now?
Britt
No. And I feel like I have always gone to church. And, you know, that's just something I did. And working late nights at the bar at Bartend, and I would get up in the morning and go right to church, and I'd get, like, four hours of sleep. But, you know, it's different when you, like, know God and you know God, you know, so you can know, like, I'm a woman, but, like, do you know? You know what I mean? Like, you're like, I'm a woman. So it's just different. Like, you have to know God and, like, be intentional with him every day. I've had to be, like, really quiet, silent in prayer. So it's just different now, like, knowing him and his, like, timing is perfect always. I think being a mom has helped with that, too. Like, I'm always praying over my kids, and they're. They're my gift from him, but they're ultimately his child. And I just thank God every day. I'm like, thank you for letting me be, like, their Earth mom. Like, because they're really your child and I'm just getting a blessing. So. Yeah, I think that it's definitely different than when I was just like, okay, I go to church on Sundays. But, like, no. And you have to have a community of friends. Like, if you call me, like, ready to pray for you, I'd totally do that.
Savannah
Yeah. And that's. I think that's the hard part, too, especially for younger adults trying to find that group of friends to where it is cool to go to church. It is cool to do these things. I think it's really hard in today's day and age to find that.
Britt
Yeah. And I. My babysitter, slash nanny, she lives right behind us. And I'm like, God put me in our neighborhood to meet her. Like, it's crazy. I didn't even wanna live in that lot or that house. And it's like, no, he did it. Because she walks in my backyard. But she's 14 and she is amazing. Her name's Kathleen, and.
Savannah
Stop. That's hilarious.
Britt
She thinks I'm so cool. And so she told me she came to babysit, like, two weeks ago. And she's like, brit, I'm one of my friends. Moms said, well, what do you guys want to be when you guys grow up. And she said, well, I think I want to get my degree in marketing. And I just love Brit. And so she's like, so you want to be Brit when you grow up? And it was funny. Kathleen. You know, it's just, I love inspiring younger girls to be like, hey, it's okay to not be included. It's okay to be different. I was bullied. I remember being there. I remember not having a lot of friends and just sharing with someone younger. But I just love her so much.
Savannah
Well, that is the thing too is like you don't just have this brand, you also have a full time job.
Britt
Yeah, I have a full time job in plastic surgery sales. So I'm in the or. I do everything from breast reconstructive patients that have breast cancer, breast implants, cellulite, anything with med spas, filler threads. And then yeah, it's crazy.
Savannah
That's insane. And then the kids and two children that are. How old are they?
Britt
Two and four.
Savannah
That is crazy. So, so two kids? Two and four. And you also have two other full time jobs? Basically.
Britt
Yeah, it's a lot. I mean I definitely work all day long and then I'm with the kids. Like I'm very intentional with them. And then at night I'll work on covered or go through my emails at that point and figure out like what I'm doing with covered or following up my employees.

Here at the Zebra, research shows people would rather teach their kids to drive than search for auto and home insurance.
Britt
I know what I'm doing, mom.
Unknown
Or attend a corporate team building workshop.
Savannah
Go, team.
Britt
Feel that synergy.
Unknown
Or be regaled by Uncle Frank's conspiracy theories. They're listening to us right now. That's why the Zebra searches for you. Comparing over 100 insurance companies to find savings no one else can Compare. Today@thezebra.com we do the searching, you do the saving.
Britt
Shh.
Savannah
They're here. Do you ever feel like, all right, I'm overwhelmed. I don't have a good, like, work life balance? I do. Are there ever times where you feel like as much as you try, you're still not getting exactly what you need out of life?
Britt
Yeah. And that's hard for me because. But it's taking ownership and saying like, hey, I need some help. Like Kathleen, for example, Like, God knew I needed her. You know, she's right in my backyard ordering factory meals. Like, that's our dinner. You know, it's like, I have to. I can't cook. And that's really than the stage of life I'm in right now. I'm not able to do that. So I do have to get help or whatever that is. But sometimes I don't get to the gym, and I'm like, shoot, I didn't get to the gym today. But I think about other wins that I did do that day. So it's definitely on and off. Some weeks are great, and some weeks I'm like, whoa, this is a lot.
Savannah
Well, yeah. And too, it's also tough whenever I think part is it's tough living in the south when you have a lot of women who are like, oh, but you didn't cook dinner or you didn't do this, or you, you know, like. Yeah, but then you're also like, hey, I'm a full time working mom.
Britt
Right.
Savannah
Like, you're also helping to provide for your family.
Britt
Right.
Savannah
You're, you know, I think that's where we live in like a very judgmental society, in my opinion, when it comes to that kind of stuff.
Britt
Yeah. And I'm working all the time and sometimes I get left out of stuff, you know? And that's just part of it, I guess. But I'm like, I'm providing my kids a great life. I'm working for them. I want Arabelle to be like my mom, you know, is a superhero. Yes. Literally today I told Riker I was on the way to school. He's like, mom, can you get me today? And I was like, I can't today. I'm doing something with COVID He said, mom, are you gonna get your makeup done today? It was so funny. And I'm like, he's knowing what covered like about it or the hats. And he doesn't understand right now, but I'm like, I want to build something for them. Like, my mom did that.
Savannah
So did your mom, was your mom like a working mom?
Britt
Yeah, my mom's always worked. She still works, so she's a full time job. And they live down the street from us and we see them when we can and we definitely see them every Sunday at church. But yeah, I just feel like I grew up, I lived in a trailer and my husband did too. And so we just remember that life and not wanting to go back to that. And James's story is his dad drove trucks for like dump trucks. And every Friday night his dad would go get clothes from the Walmart dumpster they had dumped in. And that's where James got his clothes. And so it's crazy now James is so fashionable.
Savannah
He is. He's like such a cool dad. He is such a cool dad.
Britt
I'm like, oh my gosh, your shoes are pink and your hoodie's blue. And like, he just. It's just so cool. But I just am like, I never like and want my kids to do without. I want them to have the best life ever. And you know, it's hard when you grow up and you don't have money and you know, so I'm like, no, we're gonna work. I'll have three jobs before anything else.
Savannah
So you really are like this. That's what you and I are very similar in that of just like, you know, what a life is with, you know what a life is without. And you're just like, I refuse to go back to a certain place.
Britt
Right.
Savannah
And that's. And too, it's like I say with Chloe, like, I want her to look at me and be like, well, if my sister did it and did all of these things, I can do it too. Like, I don't want her to ever think that just cause you're a woman, you can't do like, x Y and Z.
Britt
Right.
Savannah
And that is. So you and James. How long have y'all been together?
Britt
It'll be five years in May.
Savannah
No. So married or together?
Britt
Married. So we've been together six years. So we married in May, but I was 38 weeks pregnant when we got married with Riker.
Savannah
No.
Britt
What? Yeah, I went. Got checked that morning. Went, got my makeup done, and then our wedding. Yeah. Was that night so crazy.
Savannah
Oh, my. I had no idea. Yeah.
Britt
So it's crazy. Riker's gonna be five and our five year anniversary is coming up.
Savannah
Oh, my. That's amazing.
Britt
I know. And it's crazy. I was on Broadway for five or six years bartending, and I met him down there. So I was like, great. You know?
Savannah
But hey, you. Like, you said you were gonna do whatever you had to do to make sure that you didn't go back to a place you didn't wanna be.
Britt
I bought a townhouse and I was like, how am I gonna put furniture in here? And I was like, you know what? I'm gonna go back to Broadway.
Savannah
Well, what people don't realize is, like, bartenders on Broadway.
Britt
We made a lot of money. Yeah.
Savannah
A lot of money.
Britt
Like, it's crazy.
Savannah
It's more than most nine to five jobs.
Britt
Yeah. I opened Jason Aldean's bar. And so you didn't know that. Yeah, I did. I left the Valentine. I worked, started Tootsies, went to the stage, the Valentine, and then I ended at Jason's. That's where I retired.
Savannah
Stop it. Oh, my God. The Valentine was the one place I would go to back in the day. Oh, yeah, back in the day. Someone, like, posted a comment on my Instagram the other day and was like, does no one want to talk about how this girl would go into. It was like a DJ here in town that if I said his name, you would know. And he was like, is. No. We're going to talk about how she went into these clubs Underage. I'm like, first off, Nashville doesn't have clubs.
Britt
Yeah. Second off, you can also come in.
Savannah
You can come in at 18, but don't those people go into places underage? Like, let's be real, most college kids. But I was like, I cannot. Once again, just.
Britt
Yeah. Just. Yeah, it's great. I mean, honestly. And you can make a. You can make a great living down on Broadway.
Savannah
That is. Yeah. I had friends and I was like, you make what?
Britt
Oh, yeah.
Savannah
Like, yeah. And it's cash.
Britt
Like 1200 a night. Cash. You'd go home, you could work A couple days a week. Like, some of my good friends are still down there. They only work Fridays and Saturdays and their moms during the week. And I'm like, that's amazing.
Savannah
Yeah, well, because you do what you have to do to provide for your kids. Like, and that's why, for me, I'm like, don't. It's so easy. And, I mean, I've fallen short to this, but, like, it's so easy to judge someone when you just look, but when you actually hear people's stories and you realize, like, they may not be doing this because they love it or because they want to work till 4am they're doing it because they have people who are relying on them. And so you did Broadway? The whole Broadway thing.
Britt
The whole Broadway thing, yeah.
Savannah
And that's how y'all met?
Britt
Yeah, we met on Broadway. And then James doesn't remember meeting me, so then he messaged me on Instagram, and it was like back in old school days where you could see when someone liked another person's stuff on your face. And he saw a friend who liked my picture. He clicked on me and messaged me. I was like, oh, I already met you. But he. James is playing baseball. He didn't live here. And I was like, oh, I'm not gonna date baseball players. Like, there's just no. And then we. I don't know, got on the phone, and we were talking till, like, 4 or 5 in the morning. It was crazy. And I was like, I'm in love with this guy that I've never physically, like, touched or, like, met. And anyways, then. Yeah. Because our story is so similar. Remember us talking about this?
Savannah
Yes.
Britt
It's like an emotional connection.
Savannah
It is. Like, you just. It's there, and it's the wildest thing.
Britt
Yeah. No one knows it until they've done it.
Savannah
Yes.
Britt
And then we did long distance, and I loved it. And then he decided to, like, like, hang up the baseball thing and start his own baseball academy. I was like, what are you gonna start? And now I'm like, my husband owns Redbirds baseball club. Yes.
Savannah
Literally, you're, like, making merch and doing.
Britt
All the things, all the great things, so. And he's leading people to God, which I love. He has a Zoom Bible study every Monday night with his baseball players.
Savannah
Wow.
Britt
And it's just fun. You know, he's had one of his players come to know Jesus and dedicated his life and got baptized. And I'm like, you did that, James. Like, you put in the time, and it's 8:00. Like, once our kids go to be, that's when he starts to zoom. Because I'm like, you can't take time away from our family. And so he'll walk down the steps, you know, at 9:00, I'm like, how did it go? And you know, but it's also. The kids are on zoom, but are the parents hearing too? You know, in the kitchen? So he's touching a lot of people.
Savannah
And has Yalls marriage always been this way?
Britt
No, I wouldn't say like perfect. You know, we did long distance and then I was. We had a baby as soon as we got married, so that was really hard. It was during COVID and, you know, we had never lived together, so.
Savannah
Dear God, that is like.
Britt
I'm like, oh, my gosh, we're living together. I have a, you know, we have a baby, like all the things. So no, but now we're like figuring it out. And like, I think therapy is so healthy.
Savannah
Yes.
Britt
We talked about this before. Yes, it's awesome to go to therapy. I feel like it's just a way to keep in touch with each other, learning things like, hey, put your phone down when you get in bed, or setting expectations. We've set boundaries with people, so I think that we have grown so much than we were two young kids.

Have you guys been on that same journey together when it comes to, like, your relationship with God?
Britt
Yes. So. So I. James is tatted up from his neck to his, you know, at wrist and so he has tattoos everywhere. And I was like, oh my gosh, this guy's got tattoos. But it's crazy. Every tattoo is religious. It's about God. And I'm like, how do I meet somebody? And like all of his body is covered and everything is about God. And so I was like, wow. But anyways, he. We only listen to Christian music. We do listen to country or whatever, but we like today we woke up and he was listening to Christian music in the kitchen with the kids making breakfast. So we start our day. He like, Starts reading his Bible every day at the island. Like, he's just a great example of that for the kids. But yeah, I just feel like we connected. I was like, oh, I listen to Christian music too. And then like 94.1 the fish. It was just cool to connect to like that. And I'm like, okay. This guy is like, he's on a deeper level.
Savannah
He loves God and what yalls age difference.
Britt
I'm turning 33 next week. And then he's 36. So three years apart.
Savannah
Okay, three years apart. But I mean, you're basically the same age. Cause he's a guy. Yeah.
Britt
Yeah, he's. Yeah.
Savannah
That is awesome. Your story is like insane.
Britt
How we met. And I feel like I didn't know.
Savannah
You were like giving birth when you got married.
Britt
Basically. Yeah, it was crazy.
Savannah
That is crazy.
Britt
And then Riker's just so sweet. We love him and Arabelle.
Savannah
Oh, Grayson. Grayson love loves. Riker loves.
Britt
Well, Grayson came to his second birthday and then it was so cute. They fell asleep in the back seat of the car. I have a picture on my phone. I'm like, they were worn out. Like, we went to Animal Farm. And then when I would be working out of town with my job, your mom would come over and rock Riker to sleep for James. But he'd pick up Grace and I'm like, oh my gosh. Julie's rocking Riker.
Savannah
So she's always been just like a baby. Like she's just an angel on earth.
Britt
I know. I love her.
Savannah
It's so like, I love, love hearing stories from people who like, she has touched and done stuff for. And like, I had no idea. And people would be like, your mom was there for me during this or that. Or I'm like, well, they're. That's my mom best.
Britt
And they just took us in like open arms and like your dad and just everyone. Like, I love your entire family.
Savannah
Well, I say that like we don't have tons of friends, but like the friends we do have, it's like you're more than a friend. Like, you're welcome in my house at any time. You're. There is no, like, yeah, it's all or nothing, right?
Britt
Yeah, I feel like we definitely know who our genuine friends are. It's hard cuz you're like, do they like me because I'm what I'm doing or they really want to be my friend?
Savannah
Yeah.
Britt
Like, life's hard. I need like a couple of friends.
Savannah
Yes, 100%. So what would you say is like the toughest thing about, I guess, for you, like, being a mom and working, like, how do you deal with that? Because I even deal with it with, like, Chloe of feeling that guilt of, like, well, I missed out on this or I couldn't show up for this because I had to work, or, like, that's a real thing that I think a lot of people struggle with.
Britt
Yeah. I mean, I feel guilty when I can't get them from school, like today. You know what I mean? And he's like, mom, are. You know, you're gonna pick me up? And I'm like, I can't today, but Mom's doing this. And so I just have to remember, like, I'm there for sports or, you know, I made it a point to be at his jiu jitsu last night or show up or. But he also knows, like, mom has to work. And Arabel knows, like, she's young. But I also know that, like, when I am gone, they're with people that really love them. Like my parents, like Kathleen, they love them. So the same for you.
Savannah
You have people that are pouring into.
Britt
Them and they don't really know about time or, you know, but the experience and working, going to the beach or doing whatever, it's like, we had to work for all of that.
Savannah
Yeah.
James
See, and that's.
Savannah
I think it's so important to set that example. It's just so hard. It's so hard to not feel, like, guilt for just like, well, I missed out on this or that or. It's a tough balance to have.
Britt
Yeah. It's. If we go to dinner at 7:30 at night, I'm like, shoot, I can't get him to bed. But I'm like, me and James have to pour into our marriage.
Savannah
Like, well, that's also something that's hard, is like, you're working a normal job during the day. You're building a brand. You're, you know, like, so how do you make that time? So that's like, are you intentional about it or is that where you're at now? Is trying to figure out.
Britt
Yeah. So now we're at the point where. And like, we talk about this with her therapist, and it's awesome. She's like, okay, so, you know, being in touch with each other. Like, how was your day? What do you need from me today? We always talk about our day before. Or, like, Sundays, we talk about our entire week. What day are we gonna go to date night this week? So it's Saturday. He has our sitter's number. Like, he can arrange that what? Three places. Here's three places. Which one do you pick? Or what do you think is good? I'll chew, whatever. But we have to be intentional because it's so hard just to be like, okay, the kids and working. Now we're home. And then the bedtime, they're like, okay, I'm worn out.
Savannah
It's hard. And that's where Robert and I, too, struggle is just.
Britt
Just finding time.
Savannah
Finding time in the midst of, like, the Brady Bunch of kids, you know, like five kids and all this. Like, there's. It's a lot. And then you start. It's so hard to not get defeated at times because you're like, I feel like I'm doing everything. Like, I feel like I'm doing everything, but then I'm still, you know, not feeling this or that or. It's so. Like, life is so much more complicated than people make it seem.
Britt
Right. It's not like Instagram, real person, family, like, going on, you know, and it's hard because we're working moms and. But I'm like, I want to provide them an awesome life and leave a legacy with covered. And I always know, like, I want to be kind to everyone I meet. And, you know, at the end of the day, if I leave here and something happened to me, I want someone to be like, wow, she was so nice. Not like, oh, I remember how much money she made. You know what I mean? It's just.
Savannah
That doesn't matter.
Britt
Yeah.
Savannah
It doesn't matter how you touch people. Like, and that's what. What I've too realized even more with mom and dad being gone, like I said, is all the people that are like, oh, my gosh, I'll have people come up to me and they'll be like, you have no idea how your mom did this or that, or your dad talked to me through this. Or like, that's what matters, right? That's what matters. And that's what I try to. I try to teach Chloe, but it's just, wait till you get to a pre teen girl.
Britt
I'm scared. Arabelle's already. She's already something. Yeah.
Savannah
Terrible. I don't wish it on anyone.
Britt
You're like, can I get some advice here?
Savannah
Yeah. I'm like, I swear. I like walk on eggshells. I'm like, yeah.
Britt
Are we good?
Savannah
Yeah. It's crazy.
Britt
Yeah.
Savannah
So you said you have your hoodies, T shirts.
Britt
Yeah, T shirt and a crew neck.
Savannah
Okay.
Britt
That'll be launching, like, in the fall.
Savannah
Okay.
Britt
So I'm super Excited for that.
Savannah
I cannot wait for that. And your house hats. So.
Britt
Yes.
Savannah
Do you have all these hats on the website?
Britt
Yeah, all of them on the website.
Savannah
And there's some back there that are fun colors. Those are awesome.
Britt
Yes.
Savannah
So you have these. What.
Britt
What's the website covered by? Brit Jones dot com.
Savannah
Okay. And two, once it launches, once this podcast goes out, I'll put it like a link for everyone to be able to find it. And how much are the hats?
Britt
48.
Savannah
Okay.
Britt
I have a kids collection also. That's not here. And the kids collection is 30 sticks for the kids hats. They have, like, Jesus, my bro, covered Tiny Disciple, so I have a whole kids collection on there and have candles covered in his light.
Savannah
I need to get those kids hats. Oh, my gosh.
Britt
And then the adult hats.
Savannah
So that's awesome. And I think, too, just being able to. It's such a conversation starter.
Britt
Yeah. Because people know what your shirt says, if it says a sentence. But I've had so many people DM me and they're like, hey, I was at Green Hills Mall and someone asked me what covered was, and I shared. And she's like, I had a man stop and pray with me once I told him what my hat meant. I'm like, oh, my gosh. So it's a conversational starter because people think that they know, you know, if they know, or they're like, oh, tell me about it. So it's just fun to hear. It's a conversational piece.
Savannah
Well, and it, for me, when I look at it, it really is. It, like, gets you back in check whenever you see it. Because it's so easy to, like, put your faith on the, like, burner, back burner. But then when you see it, you. You remind yourself, like, all right, life may be hard, it may suck at times, but, like, I'm still alive. I'm still here. I still have a roof over my head. Like, I am covered in every situation that I'm in. So I think it's a good reminder just to even see.
Britt
Yeah, no, it definitely is. And it just is a reminder to me, like, I'm. I need to walk and live and breathe. Like, I have this brand that I want everyone to know in the whole world about. And so, yeah, they will.
Savannah
It's going to happen.
Britt
Yeah, it's going.
Savannah
And God's timing, it's gonna happen. We need to figure out, like, to get you on, like, TikTok Shop, and.
Britt
Yeah, I have a TikTok Shop.
Savannah
Oh, you do?
Britt
Yeah. But my Instagram shop Is not like linking right now. I don't know why, but yeah, I.
Savannah
Have the TikTok show because if you got like people who. Because you know, I'm still learning this whole thing, but how you like go.
James
How someone promotes something and then they.
Savannah
Get like a percentage of sales like doing that, I feel like it would be. Yeah, insane.
Britt
It's on there. So, yeah, it's just the algorithm is hard. You know, you got to be posting all the time and it's.
Savannah
It's tough, but people are going to be able to find it.
Britt
Yes, thank you.
Savannah
We'll post the website and I honestly just think you are an insane individual.
Britt
Oh, my gosh.
Savannah
I love you. Like just your story and watching you. I want to be Brit when I grow up. Okay. That's what I like you. You do. You give me hope. And I love brands that just do good and have a purpose. And it's not just about money as you said. James was like.
Britt
Yeah, I'm like profit and loss statements, real loss things.
Savannah
It's just. That's like the first year few of starting a new business is like trial and error. Getting it out there and then getting the in the hang of it. And so it's gonna work.
Britt
I love you. You're a great mom. And I can't wait until your family's back together.
Savannah
Hopefully sooner rather than later.
Britt
It's gonna be a great testimony. They're covered.
Savannah
Yes, exactly. Well, thank you.
Britt
Yes, thank you. I love you.

Britt [02:34]: "I launched this brand in May of 2024, and God told me so many times to do this brand."
Britt explains that her inspiration stemmed from personal challenges, particularly related to her son's developmental hurdles. Her unwavering faith played a crucial role in guiding her to establish a brand that represents being "covered" by God's grace in all life's circumstances.
Britt provides an insightful look into the inception of her brand, emphasizing the spiritual significance behind it. The brand aims to remind individuals that they are supported and protected by a higher power, no matter the struggles they face.
Britt [03:20]: "I trademarked the Testimony Trucker. It just got approved yesterday, so I could do, like, circles."
She details the launch of her initial product line, which includes hats designed to serve as conversation starters about faith and personal testimony. Britt expresses excitement about expanding her offerings with T-shirts, hoodies, and crew necks scheduled for release in the fall.
Launching a new business is never without obstacles, and Britt candidly discusses the challenges she has encountered. From finding her niche in a saturated market to managing limited marketing resources, Britt highlights the perseverance required to grow her brand.
Britt [06:07]: "Finding my place and getting my brand out there, you know, it's not easy. And every day you have to wake up. Like, God gave me the vision to do this and I'm going to do it every day."
One of the significant hurdles Britt mentions is the difficulty in securing promotional support. Despite distributing free products and personalized notes requesting social media tags, she often finds that customers wear her products without actively promoting them online. This lack of engagement poses both a financial and motivational challenge.
Despite the challenges, Britt shares heartwarming moments that reinforce her commitment to her brand's mission. Engaging with customers at pop-up events provides her with invaluable feedback and stories of how "Covered by Britt" resonates with others.
Britt [05:17]: "It's fun. And they were just telling me their stories and they're like, it's really refreshing, like, knowing we are covered by God."
These interactions not only validate her efforts but also inspire her to continue expanding her reach. A particularly meaningful experience was meeting Elizabeth Hasselback, a well-known influencer who supports faith-based initiatives, which Britt considers a significant endorsement for her brand.
A substantial portion of the conversation centers around Britt's personal life, particularly her deep-rooted faith and its influence on both her family and business. Britt shares a touching story about her son Riker's transformation following a heartfelt prayer session, reinforcing her belief in divine intervention.
Britt [03:43]: "To hang out with James. Talk. And even now, like, when he went off to college, he was like, all right, well, James is gonna come over for dinner."
Britt emphasizes that her faith is not just a personal sanctuary but a foundational element that guides her daily actions and decisions, both as a mother and an entrepreneur.
Britt openly discusses the delicate balance she maintains between her full-time job in plastic surgery sales, her burgeoning business, and raising two young children. She highlights the importance of intentional time management and the support system she has built to navigate these responsibilities.
Britt [11:51]: "I have a full-time job in plastic surgery sales. So I'm in the OR. I do everything from breast reconstructive patients that have breast cancer, breast implants, cellulite, anything with med spas, filler threads."
Britt acknowledges the guilt that often accompanies her inability to be present for every moment due to work commitments. However, she finds solace in knowing that her children are cared for by trusted family members, allowing her to focus on providing for her family while nurturing her business.
The dynamic between Britt and her husband, James, is a cornerstone of her strength. Their relationship is built on mutual support, shared faith, and a common vision for their family's future. They discuss how they met, their unique connection, and how they navigate their roles as partners and parents.
Britt [24:08]: "James is tatted up from his neck to his, you know, at wrist and so he has tattoos everywhere. And I was like, oh my gosh, this guy's got tattoos. But it's crazy. Every tattoo is religious."
Their partnership extends beyond personal support into their professional lives, with James playing an active role in Britt's business and his own endeavors in leading a baseball academy that integrates faith-based teachings.
Looking ahead, Britt shares her aspirations to expand "Covered by Britt" through new product lines and broader market reach. She is particularly excited about launching a children's collection and expanding her online presence via platforms like TikTok Shop.
Britt [35:46]: "I have a TikTok Shop."
