That's insane. Grayson was six years old and he is about to turn 20, which is absolutely insane. You're not a kid anymore.

No, I'm not a teenager.

No. You are at the University of Alabama and you have done a really good job. You've made it on the dean's list. You are semi trying. Semi trying. And the reason I say that is because I know my brother and I know what he's capable of. He's doing a fantastic job. But dad informed me that you were only taking two classes next semester.

No, he's got it completely wrong. That's not what I told him. I told him I have class two days next semester.

Oh, okay.

Because they're loaded up. I have like three classes on each day.

Okay, well, he told me you were taking two classes. And I was like, why do you think that's okay? I was like, he wouldn't even be like a part time student, I don't think.

No, I'm in way more than two classes. I just have class two days a week.

Yeah, because we fought that whole time about you not wanting me to go in January, and I went in January, and that was the second semester of that freshman year.

Oh, my gosh. Well, as we start this episode, full disclosure, I am going to expose Grayson a little bit. There's a credit card situation that we have to talk about. There's also 40 talks about this. Well, there's also some other questions about, you know, what kind of guardian I was actually for him during the prison years. And I feel like there is a side of him that y' all haven't heard on any of the other family podcasts, because he hasn't. You know, he's just more open with me. Okay. He's funny on the others. So, Grayson, we are in the last days of you being 19. Last days of you being a teenager. What does it feel like knowing you're about to be 20 years old?

It feels weird.

Like, you don't really have the excuse of I'm a teenager.

I know. It feels really weird.

What's the weirdest part about it?

It's just crazy. It's like, 19 wasn't like a big one.

But 20, I'm like, damn.

Well, yeah, because really, after 21, no birthday really matters.

I mean, unless you're me. I love my birthday. I love, like, a trip or fun things. What would you say, first off? Would you say that you are the same kid now than you were, like, the kid who started college?

[Grayson Chrisley]

No.

What would you say? What would you say are some differences?

[Grayson Chrisley]

I don't know. I feel like you just change over time. Like, especially with, like. I mean, I went to college with mom and dad still in there, and obviously when they came out, that changes you.

Yeah.

So I would say them that way.

What would. What would you say is something that you want to leave behind in your teenage years?

[Grayson Chrisley]

I don't know. I don't feel like. Like, I don't feel like there's anything I really want to leave behind.

I think when I just did a podcast with mom and dad and they were kind of talking, mom was saying how things are a little different with you because, you know, whenever they left, Chase and I are obviously adults doing our thing. You were 16, and then they come back and you're in college and mom did everything for you versus when they left. It really reached a point where I was like, you gotta figure it out.

[Grayson Chrisley]

Yeah.

[Savannah Chrisley]

Like, you going to the bank by yourself, just even things as simple as that. So it is very different. Do you think. Do you think it's been harder for you and your relationship with them than it has been for, like, me and my relationship with them since I've come home?

[Grayson Chrisley]

I think it has been harder, just, like, in a way, like, with me going back and forth to Tuscaloosa, like, I get it. Like, people want me to be home, but also, like, I have relationships that I've got to, like, maintain. And, like, I'm not going to go three months without seeing certain people and, like, stuff like that. And mom and dad are like, why are you going back? And I'm like, well, I'm not. I'm not, like, going to go three months without seeing these people.

Yeah.

[Grayson Chrisley]

Like, I've got. I've got to go back. And I feel like sometimes they don't really understand it, but.

Yeah. Well, I also think, too, it's hard, Right. Because in our mind, we miss you. Especially for them, I think, you know, going two and a half years, they want you to be home as much as possible, but in a way, you're kind of navigating your own life, building your own life, your own people.

When away. Tuscaloosa right now is home.

[Savannah Chrisley]

Yeah.

[Grayson Chrisley]

Like, when you spend every day in a routine doing your own thing down there, and then you come home and you're like, what am I supposed to do? Yeah, I don't know what to do.

Yeah.

[Grayson Chrisley]

And that's why I like it, because I have my own routine. I can do what I want. I hang out with people. I'm always doing something. I come home and I'm not doing anything, and I'm like, yeah, I'm bored.

Well, hey, when you come home this summer, we'll be doing a lot of fun things and we'll go fun places. I really wanna go on some golf trips.

[Grayson Chrisley]

I understand.

[Savannah Chrisley]

We'll go on some golf trips. It'll be fun. So we've touched on your birthday. Obviously, you're about to be 20. And now I kinda wanna touch on, you know, some things. What I got right versus what I got wrong. So when mom and dad went away, you were 16, I was 25. I had to step in. I mean, that just was the situation. But when I look back now, I question, you know, but, like, what did I do right? What did I do wrong? So when did you stop seeing me as your sister and start seeing me as the person that was in charge?

[Grayson Chrisley]

Feel like it took a little bit. It definitely took a little bit. Because at first I was like, obviously, like, not in a mean way, but, like, you're not my mom.

Like, yeah, you and Chloe both. That was a hard one.

[Grayson Chrisley]

I looked at it as more of like, you're advising me instead of telling me what to do.

[Savannah Chrisley]

Yeah.

[Grayson Chrisley]

And then when I had to get used to, like, no, she's telling me what to do, that was harder.

Yeah. What would you say I got right during that time?

[Grayson Chrisley]

I think you got most of it right, but I feel like there were some things I feel like a little bit. You expected me to adapt faster than I was going to, and I think that caused us to fight more.

Yeah. So I think that goes into the. You know, what I got wrong? I think I definitely looked at it from the perspective. Now I can say, looking back, like, hey, I'm in this with you. We're all going through this. You have to, you know, I'm going through this and I'm adapting. You need to as well. But at the same time, you were 16.

In closing, I think it all happens differently.

Yeah, it does. It all happens differently. And that's where. That's where I kind of dropped the ball. And thinking everyone was supposed to be on my timeframe of like, well, I'm doing this, so you should be doing this.

Trying to think. Well, it was where we argued a lot, was the times when we would go see mom and dad.

Because sometimes, like, don't get me wrong, I wanted to see them, but also I was tired of spending every weekend. Like, I didn't want to spend every weekend. I wanted to do stuff like.

Yeah.

And I feel like that's where we would get into it a lot. It's like, I don't want to go this weekend. You're like, you have to.

Yeah, that. That is very true, I think, because in my mind I was like, hey, they've sacrificed their entire lives for us. The least we can do is show up for them. But that's not realistic. I mean, y' all are in school all week and then on the weekends you're visiting a prison.

I had baseball. So the free weekends I had, we were going to visit.

Yeah.

And I was like, I just want one weekend of not doing anything.

And that's something I need to work on. And obviously, you know, I can say things I need to work on, but what would you say? You know, I wanna talk about what people kinda get wrong about me. Now, you can defend me, you can roast me. It doesn't matter. You see me, obviously, when, like, the cameras are off, the Internet sees the versions that I post. So what do people get the most wrong about me? That you think

it pisses me off when I see comments and they're like, savannah's. Savannah's being a bitch. And I'm like, if you understood the shit she had to deal with, you'd be a bitch too. Well, people also think too. Right. I think one of the biggest misconceptions about all of us when mom and dad left was like, oh, I don't want to hear you complain. Like, you've got all this money to do whatever you want to do.

That's what people don't realize.

No. And during that time, it's like, I mean, you even said to dad the other day, dad was like, when have you. When were you told no, though? And you're like, well, I really wasn't. I mean, there were some times my life changed. Yeah.

For sure. But, like, If I wanted to do something, you found a way that I did it.

Yeah. What. What are some things that people get right about me? Whether it's funny or.

I don't know. Not a lot of people get stuff right about us.

See? And so your major right now, is it a business major with a sports management minor?

would you say now? Right. So you're coming, you're gonna be coming out of college. What would be your dream first client to represent?

I don't know, probably any Bama guy.

I love it from inside the system as a student, what does the NIL world actually look like that we don't see from the outside?

I mean, I love it, I love Haniel.

But you love it slash hate it, right?

I mean, I don't know. I love it more than I hate it. I don't think these kids should be going out there and making hundreds of millions of dollars for these schools. And what you say, well, they're getting a free education. What does that education equate to? A hundred and something thousand dollars out of the hundreds of millions of dollars that they have made for your school.

Yeah, but would you say, you know,

is only one side's making money on that?

[Savannah Chrisley]

Yeah, but are. And for people that don't know NIL is name, image, likeness, is it good for. Would you say that it's actually good for athletes or does it create new problems?

Both. I mean you're obviously going to have problems when you give an 18 year old kid a million bucks. Yeah, but also if a kid goes out and gets hurt and can't play again and he can't go to the NFL, at least he's got some money to start his life with.

Yeah. Now what is it? Nick Saban is actually working within the.

He's not a big fan.

Nick Saban's working within the administration right now on NIL and kind of putting parameters around it.

Yeah. For instance, like a prime example, right. Ty Simpson, what's the quarterback for Alabama? He got drafted to 13th to the Rams. He got drafted 13th, first round, 13th pick to the Los Angeles Rams. But he was. I know there was speculation about him being offered, what, like $7 million from Miami, maybe?

Yeah. I mean, we don't know who it was from, but they said. This is all stuff I've read. Yeah, they said he was offered 7

million and so he was offered 7 million.

He could have, but he's always been a loyal guy. Yeah, I mean, he stayed at Bama for three years on the bench during the NIL era. He could have left and made money somewhere else.

Yeah, but what? Now he's playing for the Rams and he's in California. Those income tax are steep. He could have made more money staying in college than going to the NFL. So what. I mean, what are your thoughts on that?

He also could have stayed one more year, gotten hurt, and never played in the NFL.

Mm. Yeah. So you do have to look through that.

One bad play and he tears an ACL or something and he's done.

So you actually wrote a paper on this for one of your classes on NIL deals. And what was the premise of that and what was your professor's on what you wrote?

He liked it. I said that you should have a salary cap and distribute the money out from the revenue share of the conferences.

Interesting. And what did your professor say about it?

[Grayson Chrisley]

He said you should show this to somebody. I think it's a great idea.

I don't want to give it to the ncaa. They'd find a way to screw it up.

And then there's just like they do with everything else, then there's that. So when speaking about college, you know, you found your friend group. You found who's real, who's not. How would you explain the friend vetting process at college as being a kid who is in the public eye? Cause it is harder.

I don't try to be friends with very many people.

So how have you let. How have you landed into the friend groups that you're in?

[Grayson Chrisley]

It's just over time where you see how people act and what they do and stuff like that.

What have been like? Have you been burned since being there?

[Grayson Chrisley]

Kind of. But I mean, it wasn't by people that were. I was super close with.

[Savannah Chrisley]

Yeah. I mean, without obviously naming names, what does it like, feel feel like to be in a situation like that you're trying to be a kid, trying to go get an education, but everyone knows who you are before you even walk in the door?

[Grayson Chrisley]

Yeah, I think it's gotten better. My first semester was bad because I'd never been around it, but it's just like, it's not as bad now in the classrooms and stuff.

[Savannah Chrisley]

Yeah.

[Grayson Chrisley]

But still, like, when you go to places, it's pretty bad. You see people. And I think because we're so used to it that we catch when people look. And you can hear when people whisper. Like.

[Savannah Chrisley]

Yeah.

When people walk past you, you hear them whisper, oh, my God, it's Savannah Chrisley. Yeah, it's the same thing there. You walk past people going down the street, they look at their friend. Oh, my God. That's crazy.

Yeah. Do you. Is there any part of you that kind of loves it? Because for the first time in your life, you are somewhere that none of the rest of the. Of the family is. So it is more focused around you kind of.

I mean, I. I knew it was going to be crazy if you go. I mean, if you look at my Instagram, you know how it shows the Instagram breakdown?

Yeah.

Mine's like 90% female and 18 to 24.

So, like, that's the people that follow me. So it's like when I'm down there, everybody's like, oh, my God. I just keep walking.

But you've never really been one in the family to love the public eye.

Yeah. Well, it's because people who have shown up for you in your life, you're a very loyal person. So people who have shown up for you, you never forget it. And I think, too, people like Josh, right. Who have been a great influence and who have been there for you and have helped you.

Well, I mean, like, we known them since I was, like, 10.

And when he told me he was going into the military, I started crying. I thought he was going to die.

And then they had to lie to me and say he was going into secret service.

Probably either Texas or Florida.

I would say it's become very hostile.

And what way?

Because I think I had a teacher yell at me because I told her it takes a man and a woman to make a child.

And she. And then she told me that I was a man I'm not allowed to have an opinion on.

Well, that's kind of insane.

I said, last time I checked, it took two people to make a child. And I asked her that. I was respectful. I asked her, I said, just a quick question. How many people does it take to make a child? She goes, well, it depends. I said, no, nothing. Said, how many people does it take? I said, you need one thing from one person, another thing from another person. Yeah, so two people. She got pissed off.

Yeah, I do think. But again, that's. You know, this debate has been.

I don't. I can't believe we've already been debating about this. Like.

Yeah, but this debate has been had for a while now, but especially over the past few years about the indoctrination of institutions. And you see it firsthand. You've seen it firsthand in one of your classes with one of your professors.

I will admit it's. It's not all of them. No, it's a few bad apples is what it is.

Do you think, though, when it comes to faith on college campuses, have you seen, like, a resurgence?

[Grayson Chrisley]

Seen a lot of people be more vocal? A lot of people.

Do you feel like the younger demographics, especially men, are having a hard time connecting with God or faith, especially on college campuses? Or have you seen kind of. Because there have been studies to where it has shown there's been a resurgence in faith in God on college campuses.

The churches in Tuscaloosa are packed out.

[Savannah Chrisley]

Really?

Yeah.

Would you say it's more packed out after the assassination of Charlie Kirk?

I don't know if it's more packed out, but I think more people are being vocal about it than they were before.

And what about you? Where would you say you're at in that journey as a college kid?

I'd say I'm at a good place. I just don't like going to the huge, mega churches that try to turn it into a concert. Like, I went to one. I think it was around Easter. It was a huge, mega church. But the pastor was. You watched him on a screen.

I was like, you got all this money to build all these big buildings, but you ain't got enough money to bring somebody here in person?
