We apologize to men for, like, being so hard on them, but also, like, just do better as a species.

I don't. Yeah, I don't apologize. I feel like if. Okay. If we're living in a patriarchy. And the unfortunate thing is that patriarchy, white supremacy, capitalism, they all. They affect everybody underneath them. But if you're supposed to be the leaders of everything, the leading has been. It's been so far from leading, and it's been. You all have tried for hundreds of years. You. You've got to improve and actually start to lead and set up a world that is meant for everybody, or you have to hand over the reins. This is. It's getting crazy. Like, at some point, you got to look over at your friend who's a guy and in charge and be like, I don't know. We kind of been. We've been this up for a while. Like, maybe, I don't know, like, give them, like, a week. Let's see what they do in, like, a week.

I have some homework for the babysitters. I need everyone, all you 96 women, the 96. I need you to forward this podcast any episode you want to. Just one guy that you know in your life. And, you know, actually, this would be a social experiment. Like, that was actually about to be a joke, but it would be really funny to see how much we could increase our male viewership if we did that. Sending it to my brother who already watches.

Yeah, I'm gonna make sure my brother's watching, too. Okay. I need to send it to. I mean, we were talking about that. When we were talking about. My mom suggested for the pod. She was like, yeah, y' all need to have like a. You know, I forgot what day she called it, but she was like, if you have people who support you already, tell them. I can think of one time where I actually thanked men for liking the podcast. This was probably one guy in the 4%, right?

We're like almost in spring pretty much, and we've realized that we're actually too busy talking about everybody else that we never spoke about what we're doing with our own summers ourselves.

So. So what are you doing for summer?

[TP]

What have I been doing my summer? I've been enjoying time home unemployed. So it's been. It's been nice to be back though, and be around. Be around my family and get to like, be around my nieces and nephew. Nephews more and. Yeah, rehabbing, watching a lot of WNBA games, you know, traveling. Some want to travel some more. Obviously we will be soon, but yeah, I mean, like, it's been pretty chill, but it's been nice to also be like focus more on. On stand up and acting and comedy and stuff like that. Other endeavors that. That we have going on to really like have time for stuff, actually. So I feel like it really was like a. It was a blessing in disguise really, for me to be hurt and have this free time is how I've been looking at it for a while now. I'm like, I just, you know, every time I'm just being where my feet are.

[Sydney]

I love that you do a really great job of that, like in every scenario in your life. I feel like you do do a great job of like having acceptance for your situation and like making the most out of it. And I just love that you're also spending time with your family. I know how much they mean to you.

[TP]

Also, I love seeing the content coming from your nieces and nephews. Man, brush those teeth, Sid. Don't wear this sweatshirt around them because they might have a new comparison. Like, you're good right now, but. Yeah. No, I love that for you. I've also had a lot of fun having all the travel.

So how was your summer?

How's your summer been going?

No, it's pretty good. I was spending a lot of time with my family. Had a crawfish boil.

Had my uterus removed. Like, all really awesome things. I no longer have that problem. So these are all, like, additives to my life. I'm like, I'm scaling up quickly.

And I. I've been really taking advantage of my unemployed summers as well. They've slowly become, like, easier to tolerate because we have just so many plans for the next steps of our career that, you know, basketball is, like, super cool and special, and so is comedy and acting, and it's been so much fun to, like, dabble in that. One of my summer goals this summer was actually to do a stand up. And I don't know if y' all heard the rumors on the street, but I'm doing it. And there's a little backstory behind this that I would really love to share with all you guys because Sydney has a very special moment.

[TP]

Come on. Because we only got so much time on this episode.

[Sydney]

Yeah, we're early in the episode, so Sid's, like, awesome. She's a great friend of mine. Love her to death. But we do have a transparency problem where, like, we don't get the full story. And I blame myself because I do trust it with everything I got. Um, you shouldn't trust somebody with everything. Just probably 99% for this very reason. We can get into this another episode. But I got tricked into doing the Sit In TP show. And by tricked, I had no idea that it was a TV show. I thought that we were partnering with together to do TikToks and, like, social media whatevers.

I told you, dog. You just didn't understand.

Okay, so fast forward.

We're going to talk about this another time. I don't want to waste this conversation now, cuz I have a lot to say about that as well. But like, let's fast forward to last week right before they announced that we were going. We're fast forwarding, we're fast forwarding. Like this is much. This is how long you've been lying to me or like misleading or omitting information. So here we are. And also, these are only the only things I caught her with. Like maybe she's been fully transparent all the other days of our lives, but these two specific days.

These are the days of our life. Which group? Which group? I've been hustling and talking it forever. I've been struggling forever.

I don't know. I don't know. But if I have to go off of like the cadence in your tone, it kind of sounds like thugs and harmony.

So Sid's a very supportive friend. I'm gonna prelude this story by just saying that. Sam J. I was doing the stand up. Sydney's participating. Sid said, hey, would you like to do some stand up? And you know, I'm thinking about WNBA all star last year where you did your stand up. And it was like a good crowd, a doable crowd, a nice crowd in an amphitheater. There was, it was a healthy amount of people. So she was like, yeah, let's do a little stand up, a little five minute set, you know, whatever you feel good with. You know what, Sid? I do want to do that. Okay. So I get in, I'm doing my little standup, I get tagged in a post By Sam J. Shout out to Sam J. Thanks for having me. And I'm pictured in a picture with all these professional comedians and you, everybody with like a special is like on this list. And then glowing bright and white right there is me alongside of all you guys. And I'm like, oh, wow, this seems like a pretty hefty lineup. Like a wow, I wonder what kind of show. Then I google where it's going to be. I google Talia Hall.

[TP]

Yeah.

[Sydney]

And it's like at a thousand person seats. So, yeah, y', all, I'm trying out stand up in front of pretty much a almost sold out crowd right now. So if you do want your tickets, get them now. There's seemingly not many left. And that's how I found out, like, the size. It's not like a cute little stand up with like a cute little crowd of like, oh, just people, like, looking to support. It's like an actual comedy show. And it wasn't just rolled out like that to me. So.

Yeah.

[TP]

Because you know what? You should be looking at it as a small crowd. I'm doing you a favor. You need to think big. Oh, this is just the beginning. You want to be performing in front of tens of thousands of people, maybe doing some comedy. Right.

So that's what I was preparing. That's what I. That's what I knew in my heart

[Sydney]

and you could do in my head. I always envisioned like my first time doing stand up, like, in a grimy, like, dirty comedy club with a bunch.

[TP]

You don't have to live that life.

[Sydney]

Still think that I'm a man. They're like, oh, look at this guy walking on stage. I can't wait to hear what he has to say. Like, that's what I envision for myself. Not every time, not this huge thing. But with all that being said, I have been putting together a little sign.

Been working.

that's part of why we're moving out to New York, for us to really have to do standup. Because we had told people last season at au, we were like, all right, yeah, we're gonna do it before the season's over. Here we didn't do it. And whenever I do that at places, because that's what happened the very first time I was supposed to do it. I gave myself a year during the pandemic. I'm like, at the end of the year, you absolutely have to do standup. I didn't. And so on, like, January 3rd, I went somewhere because I was just so ashamed that I told myself I was going to do that. And then it was like, you. It's basically what I asked myself. I'm not. It's like, then go sign up for something right now. So I made myself sign up for something right then that I had to hold myself accountable to. Then I went to go do it. So we're making this move to go there for a few months and see, you know, what comes comes of it and to really, like, give time to working on this craft because we've been so busy with basketball forever. And so now we want to venture into this new space, which we. We already got a taste of, you know, a couple. A couple months ago when we went. Y', all, you may have seen it on. On our social media, but our friend via. I meant to hit via, cuz I'm like, is you. Is it Dero or Dero?

Like, oh, I thought it was Deros, but I thought it was too, but

I was like, just in case.

We've been knowing her for now, though.

[TP]

She's our friend, but last name just is D E R O C H E. So just go look her up. But we were in New York filming her visual album for Girl Blue Homie, and she just released the first part of, like, a five part visual album. And when she asked us back when she was like, casting for. She asked me and TP to be a part of it and my character's name and y', all, it's so beautifully. The songs are well written. No, get out here, Jay, please. No. There's a pretty girl out here. Watch her every time.

It's insane. And it was. Yeah, like you said, it was from years ago. And it just shows too, about, like, patience with your craft. Sometimes art, you don't get to maybe put it out right away. It might not be finished. You might have more than you don't even know is going to be a part of it. But, like, she's able to release it now and she, you know, the first. The first episode was called hope you don't hear this. And that's the first. First song out of five on. On the album. But I got to play a character named Simi, which was really insane when she was telling me about it because it's my brother's name. They spell it differently like in. In the envious movie. But I was like, the fact that this is my brother's name and she didn't know that this was my brother's name. I was like, this is going to

be a common name. It's not like John.

No, it's not a common name at all. And it was so fun, like, just shooting this video over the course of what, four or five. Five days we were there. I was Simmy, TP's Joe.

I run the. I run the gig. Sydney's. Sydney is our best fighter. And I am the gym owner.

Like, it was super fun. As a nepotism higher. It was really awesome to be a part of that. And everybody that was involved with it was like under the age of 30, putting this all together. Like, if you would have seen the way the set was made in, like, the intricacies of the set and the audio team and the. In the camera crew and every. Everybody that went in this was under the age of 30, just, like, getting done. And it was really cool.

Yeah, it was amazing to see. And I was like, this is an environment that we need to be a part of. Like, we know the feeling of being on a team in the wnba, and that's an amazing feeling. Or like in college, whatever it is, but for sports, but. But it's a different kind of vibe when we're like, we're using our minds like more we're like you're having to tap into your acting, the comedy, your creativity. So many things. Playing dress up and stuff. You know, changing into all these costumes. Like it's just a different kind of choreo.

[Sydney]

Dancing synergy, stuff like that.

[TP]

Yeah, yeah. I can't wait for y' all to see the dance. But like it was just cool as shit. And everybody. So many people were queer on the set. So many minorities, just different looking people walked in there and we were like this is some New York gay for real. Like we're like we told y' all we're not typical gays. And I'm. And I'm. I'm really. I'm super duper lesbian. I mean look at us, both of us.

They were really refreshing to be around too. Like their openness, their open mindedness and just like their life experience and the way that you view the world when like you live in New York and you have like a New York lifestyle and the community that you have to find in New York. There's just so many people in New York. So finding your community that matches you. Like it was really cool to just experience everything that was that set and New York and the people, they were

so talented, so talented and artistic, such creative people. It was just like the makeup that they were doing, the hair, the the every. Everything was just like. And some of them, you know like haven't been doing it like a super long time. And so to see like we.

We might have been the oldest people on set.

[TP]

For sure. For sure.
