Hey everybody. Welcome to Vince on a Thursday. It's great to have you with us, man, oh man. We've got a huge show for you today. We're gonna take a close look at what is going on as the President's crime crackdown continues. The left is furious about this. I'm elated. We've got footage, actually of an illegal alien who's committed all sorts of awful crimes in addition to coming into the United States illegally being tackled on the streets of Washington D.C. the left is trying to turn this into a sob story. I'm telling you right away, the only tears you should be crying are tears of happiness that somebody's finally fixing all of this. We've got a massive show ahead. Also joining us today, Reagan Reese, the White House correspondent for the Daily Caller. We'll chat with her. There's a big show ahead. Great to have you with us as always, best damn audience and media. This show can only be made possible with the support of its sponsors, birchgold. Birch Gold is among those great sponsors. Did you know that the divide between the President and the Federal Reserve has some real potential to go sideways? And the question right now is, can the Fed actually take the right action at the right time or are the rest of us going to be looking at a potential economic slowdown? And what could all of this mean for your savings? Well, consider diversifying with gold through Birch Gold Group. For decades, gold has been viewed as a safe haven in times of economic stagnation, global uncertainty and high inflation. And Birch Gold makes it incredibly easy for you to diversify some of your savings into gold. If you've got an IRA or an old 401k, you can convert that into a tax sheltered IRA in physical gold or just buy some gold to keep in your safe. First, get educated. Birch Gold is going to send you a free information kit on gold. Just text my name, Vince to the number 989-898. Again, text Vince to 989-898 and consider diversifying a portion of your savings into gold. This way, if the Fed can't stay ahead of the curve for the country, at least you can stay ahead for yourself. Birchgold. Text Vince to 989-898. Data and message rates apply. All right, so you know, I've got, we've, I love the Internet. I love that we've got people with cell phone cameras all over the place. You know, people use them probably too much for everything. But we do capture some amazing moments, including in Washington D.C. yesterday. It was around 1:00 in the afternoon yesterday, and an NBC Washington reporter was in the street, and it was right by the National Mall, in fact, and her name is Amy Cho. And Amy Cho, right near the mall, spotted some law enforcement activity going on. There were a bunch of federal law enforcement, local D.C. police officers surrounding a blue hatchbacked vehicle. And that's where they encountered this man who gets out of his car at the request of police. And then they say. I think they're trying to get him to either lie down or show them his hands. And he makes a run for it. Look at him. He makes a break for it. And the cops tackle him immediately. That was the worst attempt to blast the A gap I've ever seen. And they take him down in a second. I love this cop. Look at. Pause. Can you pause on this for a second, guys? Just. I don't know if you could back this up a little bit. Justin, for those of you watching the video, the one police officer doesn't seem to know which legs he's supposed to grab while they're on the ground. All right, push it forward. Push it forward. Watch this. Here's the older guy with the white hair. Look at him. He's grabbing a police officer's legs, which is really funny. You're restraining the wrong person, sir. He figures it out, and then he. He grabs. He finally grabs the guy who's on the ground, which is wonderful. And so this happens, and the guy who gets caught on the ground. I'll tell you what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna share some more of the audio for you here of the actual incident. Fellas, if you could pull up my screen here. I want to get his screaming while he's on the ground. Listen to this. Watch this, fellas. Watch. He's screaming in Spanish, and apparently he's saying, I'm doing nothing wrong. I did nothing wrong. And then he starts screaming about his family. I want to talk to my family or something. I want to see my family. Yeah, okay. All right. So they got this guy on the ground. He's screaming in Spanish. He's talking about his family. And so you understand what happened immediately yesterday, the left started saying that this is a gigantic sob story without any question whatsoever. You had people like Jessica Tarlov tweeting about how awful this is. You had NBC reporters going, my gosh, what is happening in America? You had lefties saying, this is not what anyone voted for. Look what is happening to this poor man. And here's somebody. I'm not gonna read what the chat is saying right now you're out of control chat. You're completely out of control. And so what ends up happening is of course, just like every one of these stories, you find out like seconds later that this guy was totally legitimately taken into custody. Take a look at this post. This is Amy Cho. This is the NBC Washington reporter. This is by 5:25 in the evening eastern time. So about five and a half hours after she. Or four and a half hours rather after she posted this. And she says update. ICE has sent a statement on this man's detention saying his name is David Perez Tiafani and that he was arrested in Fairfax county in 2024, that's last year. And charged with aggravated sexual battery against a minor who. Under 13. Under 13. He's from Mexico. He's got a final order of removal. He entered the United States illegally three times. Three times. He's already got final orders of removal. Do you know what final order of removal means when you see that phrase? What that means is he's already received due process. The United States considered the fact that he was in the country and they said you're here illegally. Get out. A final order of removal has already been put out. He's entered the US Illegally three times. He was arrested in Fairfax county in January of last year, Virginia. And then he was charged with aggravated sexual battery against a minor under the age of 13. Felony indecent liberties and proposed sex acts. Get him the hell out of the country. So of course they should be tackling him to the ground and taking him out of the country. And of course the left fell for the sob story the second the guy started sobbing while he was being taken into custody. Why do you think that guy tried to hit the A gap so quickly? Why do you think he didn't stand around to work it out with the police? Because he knew that this is a part of his record. He keeps getting ejected from the country over and over and then he keeps coming back. And then when he does come back, he allegedly is abusing kids under the age of 13. No. Let's get this guy out of the country. Bye bye, bye bye. It's time to go. Adios. And so that's what was taking place yesterday. The effort to clean up Washington D.C. continues. We've got a lot of success at Union Station. I've been talking a lot about Union Station cuz it's sort of, first of all, it's a great place. It's also a symbol of the country. It's a wonderful, beautiful building that the left has turned into utter crap. The President of the United States has restored things now. They've cleaned up all the homelessness, they're getting rid of all the criminality, all the drug use, all of the, the mentally ill people who scream at you as you transition in and out of the building. That's all over. And in fact, yesterday, J.D. vance, Pete Hegseth and Stephen Miller, they paid a visit. Take a look here. Cut one. They paid a visit to Union Station and they're walking around inside of the main atrium. Walking in, having a great time, checking out how nice and clean everything is. Now they wanna highlight the success the administration has had. It's just great. Now that said the lunatic protesters who were there, and yes, there were lunatic protesters there were screeching their heads off that JD Vance and others were in the building. They were upset about all of this yesterday and to which they were yelling all sorts of obscenities. Here is Stephen Miller responding to the protesters yesterday. Cut to Stephen Miller mocking the protesters and saying, you know what, go ahead, keep protesting. Cuz every time you protest, we're going to add to the resources to clean up this city. So thank you for your inspiration. Look at this.
Stephen Miller
For too long, 99% of this city has been terrorized by 1% of the city. And the voices that you hear out there, those crazy communists, they have no roots, they have no connections to the city, they have no families, they are raising this city, they have no one that they are sending to school in this city. They have no jobs in this city, they have no connections to this community at all. But they're the ones who've been advocating for the 1%, the criminals, the killers, the rapists, the drug dealers. And I'm glad they're here today because me, Pete and the Vice President are all going to leave here and inspired by them, we're going to add thousands more resources to this city to get the criminals and the gang members out of here. So we're going to ignore these stupid white hippies that all need to go home and take a nap because they're all over 90 years old. And we're going to get back to the business of protecting the American people and the citizens of Washington D.C. we.
Vince Coglianese
Ignore the stupid white hippies who are screaming at us. They're not even from here. You don't even go here. People who are just screaming obscenities at the Vice President of the United States. Can you imagine? There's the Vice President of the United States who just emotionally incontinent, just Spewing. They're garbage. I hate you. I hate you. Okay, all right. Settle down, son. As we're cleaning up the city, they're mad that they're stopping the criminality. Can you imagine being mad about that? How would you be mad at the crime ending? How would you be mad at cleaning up our nation's capital? How would you be mad at the homeless finally being put in places like shelters and mental institutions finally being taken care of, not allowed to rot away on the streets anymore? The President has totally changed the game here. So worthwhile visit to Union Station to highlight that the guys were all thanking the National Guard members who were there helping to protect Union Station. I saw Wolf Blitzer yesterday. You know Wolf over at. Over at cnn, Wolf Blitzer, he's hilarious. Unintentionally hilarious. He posted yesterday. Check this out. He had posted to social media. This is what I saw when I drove by Washington, DC's Union Station this morning. And he's mad that they've got military trucks parked outside, members of the National Guard watching over Union Station, protecting it. This is right outside the front of the building. This is if you're walking out of Union Station, you can see the Capitol Building from there, and these guys are protecting the spot. It's great. So Wolf tweets this out yesterday. This is what I saw, he said. And of course, what he's implying is that that's some horrific thing. So I responded, hell, yeah. Thanks, Wolf. I love it. Yes, that's what we want. This is exactly. This is exactly what I voted for. Yeah, too bad, Wolf. Get a life, says Coco usa. No, I love it. Keep reporting, Wolf. Tell us all of the ways that President Trump is cleaning up the city. That's the most reporting I think Wolf has done in years. It's just because he was walking to work that he saw this. He's like, oh, I'll do some reporting. And here's the reporting. President Trump is cleaning up the city. So you got J.D. vance, who sees all these crazy people screaming at him. And there's a great video clip. Show me cut 10 here. Here's J.D. vance and Pete Hegseth pointing at the protesters at Union Station, throwing their heads back and laughing. Look at this. So funny. And so people are booing. And then JD points in their direction and goes, hey, there's the guys who love crime. And both J.D. vincent, Pete Hicks says they just throw their heads back and they start laughing. They point and they laugh at these idiots. It's honestly so funny. It's so freaking Funny. So they're having a great time and rightfully so. And they were at Shake Shack over at Union Station, which is a great spot. Shake Shack's a good place and they're having a good time anyway, so that's, that's what the guys were to up last night. J.D. vance went on the Vice President of the United States went on the Fox News Channel. I believe this was Laura Ingraham show. And he said here cuts free. It is amazing the extent to which Democrats just love crime, isn't it? Take a look.
J.D. Vance
I don't know why Democrats seem to love public disorder and chaos almost as a political ideology. And I think that part of what's going on is Democrats have gotten so divorced by from the communities that they allegedly serve that they don't realize the gross majority of residents in D.C. they want to walk through Union Station and just have a bite to eat or enjoy the space with their families. They don't realize that so many people have been absolutely terrorized by Democrat crime policies. And so maybe they just don't make the connection between what Gavin Newsom says and the fact that places like D.C. or Los Angeles have some of the highest murder rates in the, in the world.
Vince Coglianese
Yes, there's a psychosis going on here where the left has convinced itself that crime is the proper state of things. And they would rather have just rampant murders than President Trump be in office. They really do. I mean they place a higher value on getting rid of Donald Trump than they do on cleaning up communities across the country. They'd rather those communities be more chaotic as some sort of dunk on Trump. And of course, just like everything with the left that comes at the expense of the most vulnerable people in our country. People who experience being murdered and raped and attacked and robbed and carjacked because of the decision making process by the left, because of the abandonment by the left. President Trump thinks you deserve so much better, so much better than that. And so he wants to clean it up. And so he is. And he's starting with the nation's capital. He's doing a good job here and he wants to branch out beyond the nation's capital to all of America's cities to clean things up. So JD Vance is right about that, very right about that. I'm grateful that these guys are in office and actually doing it. By the way, I'm looking at the Rumble Chat today. You can always join us live for the video podcast rumble.com Vince and I see that. Daishow0101 gifted 50 users Rumble Premium. That's a huge deal. Thank you, Daisho. Pretty awesome. Amazing, actually. Appreciate you being here, everybody. That's here. Best audience in media. Okay. On this thing about crime and homelessness, there's an op ed today in the Wall Street Journal that I thought was really instructive on this point, and nobody's really even getting into it, but I'll get into it here that Trump's use of Trump's cleanup of D.C. has been really valuable. The Wall Street Journal writing today, a guy called Devin Kurtz says that Trump is forcing D.C. to get real about homelessness and that he's right to treat it as a problem of mental illness and bad behavior, not one of housing and inequality. That's the key, right? The left for many years has excused their own failures to clean up homelessness as, oh, well, you understand why people are homeless, it's because they can't afford homes and it's an affordability issue. And if we just give people more money, in other words, if we take more money from taxpayers and then just dole out more taxpayer cash, we will fix this problem that we've created by ignoring the mental illness and drug use. You see how vicious this is? That's exactly what's happened to America's cities. And President Trump doesn't like this. And so in this op ed today, Wall Street Journal, President Trump has taken extraordinary measures in the nation's capital to fulfill an ordinary function of government, keeping clean, orderly streets. His actions seem unusual because government officials in America's cities long ago abandoned the basics. Devin writes, They've been led astray by academics and activists who promised them that crimeless cities and an end to homelessness would happen if they only established a right to housing and eradicated income inequality. This is typical, right? This is the Marxist agenda here. This is the strategy. This is how the socialists move. They allow there to be decay and rot. They encourage this type of chaos, and then when the chaos arrives as expected, then they say the only way out of it is if the government consolidates more power and takes it from you. Well, how about no? How about no to any of that? How about we have some demonstrate some actual empathy for people who are suffering from mental illness, who are desperately addicted to drugs, who are living on the streets, who are, who are exposed to the elements, who are dying at disproportionate rates, who are committing crimes at disproportionate rates. How about we address all of that and we treat it like a real world problem instead of exploiting the suffering of those people for our own power. How about that? And this is what the President's actually doing. President Trump's strategy is straightforward. Devin writes, everyone living outside must go inside. No exceptions. The President's recent executive order on this issue goes even further. It jeopardizes federal funding not just in D.C. but to cities and states all across the country that don't follow a similar strategy. These efforts mark the end of a decade of national tolerance, of street sleeping, of tent cities, of public drug use. He points out that the organizations that are dedicated to supposedly stopping homelessness, the National Homelessness Law center and the national alliance to End Homelessness, they criticize laws against homeless encampments. They say they're harsh and counterproductive. But most Americans think that that's bull. They want the homeless to have a good place to sleep. Not on the street. Not on the street. And also, the stats here matter a lot. In the largest survey of homeless Americans ever conducted, only 4% even cited housing costs as the reason that they were homeless. So, in other words, does it happen? Does somebody get priced out of their home? Yeah, that happens, but it happens so completely rarely. When it comes to homelessness, the predominant issue is mental health problems. Mental health problems as well as the use of illegal substances. And many such people had been to jail or prison for extended periods. In fact, a lot of homeless people in this category are also sex offenders. That's worth mentioning as well. Permissive camping and drug policies are unpopular in the United States, and they're very dangerous. Almost 3% of all of America's homeless population dies on the street each year. 3% of everybody who's living on the street dead each year. Between 2011 and 2020, overdose deaths among homeless people, they increased by 488%. That rose to just under 1% of the homeless population annually. Drug overdoses account for 29% of all homeless mortalities, followed by cardiovascular diseases that are often associated with long term drug use at 24% and intentional death by either suicide or homicide at 10%. What a miserable way to live. It's no way to live. And so President Trump is saying, nope, we're fixing that. We're attacking it, we're going after it. We're not gonna exploit these people. We're not using them to grow more power to government. We're getting them off the street and we're making these streets safe and livable again. And so that takes me right back to Union Station. When you see Pete Hegseth and JD Vance and Stephen Miller strolling through the atrium of Union Station, observing how much better things are. Now you. It's because President Trump succeeded in not only enforcing the laws around that famous American landmark, but also getting rid of the homelessness, the mental illness, the drug problems that are going on at that key location right there in the nation's capital. I couldn't ask for more. I'm absolutely thrilled with what these guys are doing. And in a moment, I want to take you through some of the hoaxes. The left is advancing in order to try and downplay all of this, because the left, in the end, what they want is they want the crime to stick around, but we don't. And I'm happy to see the President going to work on this issue. He's got. Man, the guy's got a lot on his desk, and he's. He's checking those boxes, baby. You know, Let me thank our sponsors here. Thanks, Boncharge, for supporting the show. Appreciate you for that. All right, so now let's move on to some of the hoaxes. There's a, you know, I won't show you the headlines on it, but I'll just point out there's a number of supposed opinion polls going around that MSNBC and CNN are crowing about claiming that, oh, D.C. residents don't want Trump to crack down on crime. I'm here to tell you something really quickly as they point this out. They say that the majority don't want this. These polls are bullshit. And here's why I can say that with utter confidence. First and foremost, I can't tell you how many, like actual local people on the street have been talking to local news outlets and you get these actualities on the street and they say, thank God somebody's finally doing something about this. These are the people who live in high crime areas who are saying, finally, President Trump is addressing this. That's one. And again, it's anecdotal, that's true. But we're seeing a lot of that all over the place. And two, remember Washington, D.C. in terms of how D.C. votes, votes disproportionately Democrats at cartoonish levels in the last election, something like 95% going to Kamala Harris. It's absurd. The whole thing is so crazy. In these polls, when you're asking people, hey, do you agree with President Trump or not? People are not viewing it as, oh, this is a good way for me to assess whether something is bringing safety to my community in dc. It's just simply becoming a poll of, do you like Trump or not? Did you vote for him in the last election? And so some of the surveying on this question is straight up, like, I just don't like Trump. So they vote against it no matter what, even though Trump's doing the right thing. So that's a big deal. Here's another piece that you need to know about. There's a hoax being cooked up right now by a number of outlets that DC's restaurants are suffering right now because President Trump is cracking down on crime. Now, if that sounds insane to you, it's because it is. Just think about the order of events here. President Trump starts cracking down on crimes and it hurts D.C. restaurant traffic. Does that make any logical sense whatsoever? No, of course not. Unless the only people who were eating at the D.C. restaurants were criminals and now they've been locked up. And so all the reservations have disappeared because all the criminals who were dining at Lay Diplomat are no longer showing up anymore. That makes no sense at all. And so let me give you some examples of how stupid this entire thing is. Here's a hilarious sequence of events for you. So Peter Baker at the New York Times just shared a story in the last, let's see, 48 hours. And on it he writes, Trump claims his militarized takeover of DC has made people safer to go out to his restaurants. But in fact, restaurants in D.C. have seen the number of diners plummet more than 25% since he sent feds into the street. What? Okay, so people aren't eating because they're so sad that the cops are enforcing the law. Does that make any sense to you? And so Peter Baker is sharing a story from WUSA9, which is the local CBS affiliate in Washington D.C. so let's click into this story. Let's, let's look at this. And it turns out w USA9 has updated the piece from where it originally started. Now it says, actually, diners are showing up in droves. Headline on the same piece that Peter Baker just shared, diners are showing up for the District restaurant reservations rally as D.C. summer Restaurant Week kicks off amid federal takeover. Okay, so let's, let's back up for a second, ladies and gentlemen. Even if you're not in Washington D.C. right now. What happens during August in Washington? Any answers? Any answers? What happens every year in August? There's even a two word phrase that starts with August. In Washington D.C. the second word starts with an R. What could it possibly be that leads to lower traffic in Washington D.C. every yes, J.R. coop nails it. Recess. It's August recess. You utter more morons. And so what they're doing is looking at restaurant data like, damn, the restaurant reservations are down right now. Yeah, no shit. It is the August recess. And they're blaming Trump. They're blaming the fact that law enforcement is on the street cracking down on crime, making it safer for you to go to restaurants. And they're saying, oh, it's actually the cops, it's the police state that's preventing people from getting there. And then one more thing here, one more obvious thing. Restaurant week. Why does D.C. have Restaurant Week? Why does this happen in August every year? Why does this happen? The same damn reason it's August recess. The restaurants want people to come in. They need people to come into the building. So they have Restaurant Week and they offer these great deals and you go in and they have a pre made menu for you. You get three courses for a great discount. And already at the beginning of this week with Restaurant week starting in D.C. they, they've increased. They say right now the people who are going to restaurants is now a massive uptick. Reservations are now up. You ready for this? Look at this, fellas. Pull this up. Restaurant week has started. According to OpenTable, this year's Restaurant Week in D.C. starting Monday of this week, restaurant reservations were up 29% year over year compared to the same date in 2024. Hold on a second. What does that mean? Well, that means that this year, more people are going to restaurants as President Trump is cracking down on crime. It's almost like the crime crackdown is making things better for D.C. restaurants, not worse. So we start with the lie, we get to the facts, and now we arrive at the truth. Things are a lot better right now in Washington, D.C. it is unreal. It is just. I mean, at this point, again, it's not shocking, but it is appalling the way that these guys will continually lie and they won't even wait for any data. I started today on a guy who was just arrested on the street begging for his family, who turns out to be a sex criminal accused. An accused sex criminal who has final orders of deportation. He's been deported from the United States three times. And the left position out the gate was, here's a sob story. This guy's being mistreated. And then you find out the facts and you're like, actually, I'm all in. I'm all in entirely. And now we arrive at this story about the restaurants are suffering because Trump is cracking down on crime. No, it's literally the opposite. What you said is the literal opposite of the truth. The restaurants are benefiting up. They're up nearly 30% year over year. And that's because people do feel safer as they come into the city. Just garbage upon garbage out of our media. We do deserve so much better. Luckily, there are some reporters who are doing the job correctly, and one of them joins me next. All right, before we get there, though, I want to thank the sponsors. Thank you for putting up with my push up conversation and everything else. How are things at the White House these days?
Reagan Reese
Good. I can't believe I was thinking about this as I was coming in because last time I was in studio with you, you asked me give a little rundown of what has happened at the White House. And I'm like, what has happened at the White House this week? And I hesitate to say slow, but it almost has been slow. But Monday was this big day. Zelensky was at the White House, all the European leaders were at the White House. And then things have kind of been quiet. There was a press briefing last week and, or yesterday. And then today President Trump is set to sign executive orders, but it's closed press and he's staying in town this weekend. So that kind of gives me the hunch that there is something going on behind the scenes.
Vince Coglianese
Yes. So you think something big is happening?
Reagan Reese
I have my suspicions that they're working on this deal, this Russia, Ukraine deal. And I have a feeling that it's very sensitive. And that's why I think you're not seeing the president very often. I think that they might be he's working around the clock. I've heard that he's been very busy and they've had to work his schedule and rework it. And so that's my understanding right now.
Vince Coglianese
Well, this morning he posted to Truth Social a short while ago saying that it is very hard to bring a war to a conclusion unless the country that's been invaded can strike the country that's invading them. So in other words, in so many words, what he's saying is like Ukraine has had the handcuffs on them. They haven't been able to strike inside of Russia. And that has dragged on this war. Now, I'll tell you right up front that that's gonna drive some of his supporters crazy, the president's supporters, because really the goal here is, and that's what the president has said, to end the war, like to not sustain the bloodshed, to not escalate it beyond where it's already been and to try and stop all the killing. But. But I think if I can summarize the frustration that the President is demonstrating, it's that Putin's not quite coming to the table the way he wants to right now, even as of this morning.
Reagan Reese
Yeah. I mean, if you see the White House's statements on the matter, I think that they're very sure in trying to commit to a trilateral, and they're almost trying to put words in Putin's mouth, trying to get, maybe force him that way. Caroline Levitt said from the podium that Putin has promised that he will do a trilateral, and we've heard a little bit different coming out of Russia. I also think that President Trump has to consider America's position in all this. We've heard Caroline Levitt for sure, rule out boots on the ground. American boots on the ground.
Vince Coglianese
Yes. We heard the President do that first.
Reagan Reese
Yes.
Vince Coglianese
And then Caroline Levitt reaffirmed it.
Reagan Reese
Yes. But right now it sounds like putting troops in the air is still a possibility. And that's something that I don't know if that's much better than boots on the ground. I think that's still American planes and American soldiers. And I think that's something that the President is probably considering and thinking about the base as well, because how do you square that with America first? I think that's a great question that they're going to have to answer in the base.
Vince Coglianese
Definitely no question about it whatsoever. Tell me about what's going on at the White House. I keep talking with some glee about the changes the President is making to the actual location at the White House. And by my count, he's now paid for, I think, three massive projects at the White House. One of them was the installation of the American flags on both sides of the White House. One of them was the redecoration, the patio installation at the White House Rose Garden. And then there's the ballroom. Right. That he's building.
Reagan Reese
Yes. I love the American flags. I'm like, such a patriot, and I am obsessed with the American flags. They are so beautiful for me. Jury's out on the Rose Garden. I have broken plenty of heels in the Rose Garden because it's very hard to. It used to be all grass, and it's very hard to walk on that grass. But I'm not sure if I really like the yellow and white striped umbrellas. But, of course, it's not up to me. It's up to the President and the ballroom. Of course, I'm not Sure. When they're breaking ground on the ballroom, but that is something that the president and private donors have said that they are going to pay for. And every time I hear someone complain about this ballroom, and there's so many libs and people on Facebook who are complaining about it, and I'm like, it doesn't affect you. And it's also so embarrassing that when we have state dinners, they set up, like, a tent on the South Lawn. It looks like a graduation party. And that's at the White House.
Vince Coglianese
Yes.
Reagan Reese
It's ridiculous.
Vince Coglianese
So help me understand where the ballroom is gonna go relative to, like, when we look at the White House, where will the ballroom be?
Reagan Reese
So the West Wing is where the press is. That's where the Oval Office is. It's gonna be on the opposite side of the White House, the East Room. So the people who are going to be temporarily displaced or affected is the First Lady. I think that there is going to be a little bit of construction done to the East Room, which is where you see a ton of those events.
Vince Coglianese
Yes. The East Room is a part of the White House proper. Right. The main building that you're staring at, the White House as you're looking at it from Lafayette Square, it would be to the left.
Reagan Reese
Yes. But this is mainly. It's gonna be built onto the East Wing, essentially.
Vince Coglianese
Okay. All right. So it almost looks. It's almost like a. It's equivalent. Like, the West Wing has already kind of become a sprawling building complex on the side of the White House. So the East Wing will continue to be more of a sprawling complex with a ballroom attached to it.
Reagan Reese
Yeah, it's an extension of the White House. And also, past presidents have made changes in additions to the White House. Before, the White House Press Briefing Room used to be a pool for the White House. And so when people saying, oh, President Trump is changing the structure of the White House, I find that absolutely ridiculous.
Vince Coglianese
Yeah, yeah. No, it's. I'm excited to see, and I keep advocating for this because I think it's his right to do it. If he's paying for it, they should just call it the Trump Ballroom. Like, I haven't heard them say what they're calling it yet, but I'd like to see them call it the Trump Ballroom. I think it'd be totally legit. And, of course, it'll drive the left crazy that there be any sort of lasting Trump impact on the White. The fact that he's already changed all of these things has to drive the left crazy that how dare he get to change this. But that's a part of the history of the White House. Presidents have frequently changed it. As you just pointed out, there used to be an indoor pool in the press Room. Now it's completely paved over and there's a press room.
Reagan Reese
Yeah. I think that a reporter asked President Trump who was going to pay for the ballroom, and he said something like, it might be one check me, I might pay for it all myself. And then I think that totally makes sense if he names it after himself. The Trump Ballroom. I think you pointed this out in private conversations. There's the Lincoln Bedroom. There's all these other things that are named after presidents.
Vince Coglianese
We have the Roosevelt Room. The Lincoln Bedroom. Why not the Trump Ballroom if he pays for it?
Reagan Reese
Yes, absolutely. The Roosevelt Room. Actually, this is a fun fact that we were told while we were waiting in there for the President. It used to be called the Fish Room.
Vince Coglianese
Yes. The Truman Balcony. By the way, somebody else mentions on the chat. I'm sorry, but tell me about this.
Reagan Reese
The Roosevelt Room. It's like a semicircle, essentially. And I think for Roosevelt, it used to be called the Fish Room. And that actually used to be what he used as the. What we now know as the Opal Office. It was his office, and they called it the Fish Room because he had a giant tank of fish. These are the things we talk about while we're waiting for the President.
Vince Coglianese
Teddy Roosevelt. Teddy Roosevelt. We're talking about Teddy, right? Yes, because that's what the Roosevelt Room is named after, Teddy. In fact, you know, it's the Roosevelt Room because you will see the painting of Teddy Roosevelt on a horse over the. Over the fireplace. It's the Roosevelt Room. And they do a lot of events from there. It's right across the hallway from the Oval Office. And Teddy Roosevelt was a madman in the best way possible. Like, he would have. They would have. He would fight. I forget which secretary it was. One of his cabinet secretaries would come over and they would do combat training in the middle of the White House. They would have, like, broomsticks and they would beat the hell out of each other at the white. Can you imagine, like, the President of the United States is getting into open stick combat all the time. And so he would go to events and sometimes he would have suffered, like in a boxing match or some sort of combat sport, such a dramatic injury that, like, his vision would be obscured. He'd have a black eye. He'd be shaking hands with people.
Reagan Reese
I wish NBC News was around for that, because I remember they just did a story on the Oval Office or how the West Wing is run and how it's so busy and that you'll see bans a lot by the coffee machine, and people come and go, and that's so bad. It's so bad that it's so busy. They would probably freak out if NBC News was around and knew that Roosevelt was sparring in his free time.
Vince Coglianese
Does the press. I mean, like, obviously, you know, you're there at the White House and there's people who were there for Biden and they're now there for Trump. Do you get the sense that they appreciate the access that they have to the president, or are they still harboring some sort of anger towards him that's guided by their politics?
Reagan Reese
I think that when this is all said and done, they will appreciate it. And I. I'm not sure how they feel now. I think that they think that they're fighting some evil force and whatever. Fighting the press access. I don't know. But when I covered the Biden administration, we would sit there and I was on pool, and there was nothing going on. We would go days without seeing the president, and reporters would talk to me and reminisce about the Trump Times, and they'd be like, just wait. If Trump wins, we will. There'll always be an opportunity to ask him questions. Some days he'll just pop out of the West Wing and take questions from us. Yeah, it's so bus. People would tell me that Cabinet officials will walk up and down where the TV cameras are and you'll be able to ask them questions. And so during the Biden administration, there was a lot of reminiscing. A lot of people missed the access they got during the Trump administration.
Vince Coglianese
Right.
Reagan Reese
And so that's why I think when this is all said and done, they're gonna look back and say, this was actually really great.
Vince Coglianese
Well, it's the gold standard for access and transparency. There's no question about it whatsoever. Every successive administration is gonna be measured based on how much access Trump gave everybody else. So I think it makes total sense. What is it like sitting in the press briefing room and then watching Caroline Levitt rip the New York Times and others limb from limb? So, like, earlier this week, I saw that the New York Times reporter asked a question. I forget what the topic was. And Caroline Levitt said a New York Times reporter would ask that question. Of course, a question like that would come from the New York Times. She said she's just. She's out of fucks to give honestly. And she really Demonstrates it all the time.
Reagan Reese
Yeah. I think if you ask anyone in the new media and the legacy media, they kind of pretend like there's no tension between the two sides. But us, the Daily Caller, I feel like we're right in the middle of that. And when things like that happen, there's a side of the room that laughs and is like, go, Caroline. And there's a side of the room that scoffs and is like, ugh. And I sit in the back. I sit amongst reporters who have been there a while. And so I get a little bit of both. I hear the people standing. Standing right next to me laughing at Caroline. And then I hear the people around me get visibly uncomfortable and be like, how dare she?
Vince Coglianese
Yeah.
Reagan Reese
And it's. It's funny. Honestly, I love those moments. There's so much that happens behind the scenes. It's politics within politics as a White House reporter.
Vince Coglianese
But those people that she's beating up on are also then later that day at her door, begging for access. Right?
Reagan Reese
Yes. They're in the back. They're, you know, trying to. You know, sometimes reporters will bring cookies or muffins or candy to the people who work in lower press, the people who work under Caroline.
Vince Coglianese
We call those bribes.
Reagan Reese
Yes. To kind of be like, oh, can you get me in the pool? Can you get me a question? Like, know I'm your favorite. And so, yeah, it's really sleazy. And I, you know, you hear people say, oh, it's the White House. It's so disgusting. The press is so annoying. It's, like, way worse.
Vince Coglianese
It's way worse than you think.
Reagan Reese
Yeah.
Vince Coglianese
That'S funny. So how are you received there? I mean, like, one of the things I've discovered through the years, having worked with a lot of White House correspondents, is that there's a tremendous amount of pressure in that room to conform. It doesn't matter which outlet you're a part of. It's like a little social club with a lot of peer pressure that you better be on our side. Like, everyone's like, the Three Musketeers, all for one and one for all. We gotta work together. How much did you encounter that when you first got there?
Reagan Reese
My approach since I took over as White House correspondent was essentially, get in, get out, and then I don't. I go in, I do my job, and I leave, and I go back to the office, and I do my job there because I didn't want to get caught up in the politics. And as the Trump administration has come in, I've kind of started to talk to people more. And a lot of that during the Biden administration was no one really paid attention to me.
Vince Coglianese
They.
Reagan Reese
I don't think they even knew I was there. I got called on three times after covering the Biden administration for a little over a year. And then once the Trump administration came in, I'm going to the bathroom, and the legacy media reporters, the people who are high up at the whca, they're stopping me and trying to introduce themselves to me and telling me, hey, if you need anything, let me know. And so it's. And you're like, okay, thank you. Or I get a lot of like, hey, congratulations on being White House correspondent. And I was like, I've been sitting next to you in this room for the last year and a half, and you have no idea.
Vince Coglianese
That's amazing. So.
Reagan Reese
But I mean, yeah, I try not to get involved too much in the politics.
Vince Coglianese
Well, here's. I'll tell you, I will pay you a compliment. And here's why you've been so effective. You came in with a clear understanding of the world, a love of country. You even said early in this conversation that you're a patriot, and that's why you love the American flags. You're a Hillsdale grad. You kind of. You had the foundation as you arrived. Not everybody does. And sometimes they just get caught up in that whirlwind and they get sucked into the stupidity, and you've built up resistances against that, and thank God it's so much. It makes your reporting so much better. So thank you for that.
Reagan Reese
Thank you. I appreciate it. I remember one of our first conversations. You asked me what kind of White House correspondent I wanted to be, and I had no answer for you. I had no idea.
Vince Coglianese
But I know, I know. I guarantee you, I don't remember the conversation particularly, but I guarantee you that I say your job is to avoid the hive mind. You cannot be sucked into the hive mind. That's the worst possible outcome.
Reagan Reese
Yeah. Who cares what they think? At the end of the day, I have no desire to ever work for an NBC or an ABC or Politico. And I think sometimes reporters see that as the goal and it's not. They are.
Vince Coglianese
Oh, my God. You aren't even believe. Fifteen years ago, I remember I was dealing with some reporter in the Daily Caller newsroom, and they did something, and a Politico reporter. I gotta. I gotta. I'm not piecing together every detail correctly, but I remember this. It was like, why would you do that? Don't you want to work for Politico someday? That was the. I was like, holy shit. You are so full of yourself. You gotta be kidding me. No. The answer should be no to that. No, I don't. I have no interest whatsoever. That's insane.
Reagan Reese
Yes. Someone explained it to me like, Politico only sees you for your sources. These mainstream media outlets, they don't care about you as a person. And places like the Daily Caller, I feel like I'm seen as Reagan Reese the person, not just the journalist. And also just with the mainstream media, they don't make the rules. And for so long, we've let them make the rules on journalism and how we're supposed to tweet and what questions we're supposed to ask. And that is how we've gotten to this place where the White House needs to be taking control of the pool and putting a new media seat. And so something we talked about very early on in the Trump administration in the Daily Caller newsroom was they don't make the rules and we don't care what they think. And if an NBC reporter is going to try to dunk on me, and I've had plenty of that, and, you know, you spar with them on Twitter, who cares? Like, let's swarm them and attack them right back because we're making our own rules. And so that's how I think we've been approaching journalism, and I think it's been effective.
Vince Coglianese
It's great. It's so great. Well, Reagan Reese, thank you for doing it, as always, and I can't wait for your next conversation with President Trump. I'm looking forward to that and so much more to come. Thank you, Reagan. Great to see you. Thank you for doing this. Reagan Reese is great and glad she could stop by. That's so cool that she's getting to do that. On behalf of the rest of us, getting a chance to talk to the president and everybody else over at the White House and doing it with a lot of integrity, which is the key. Let me. I wanna dwell on something. You know, I mentioned a moment ago, you know, Reagan goes. Went to Hillsdale, and there's. There's some basic principles here. When it comes to education in the United States, the people who teach the next generation should be capable of very simply just, you know, not being insane. They should be able to know the basics, and that's what they're working on. Oklahoma. And I don't know if you've seen this. Have you seen this? This week? Libs are panicking right now in Oklahoma. About Oklahoma, because the state of Oklahoma. Fellas, if we could pull this up. Oklahoma is testing political leanings of teacher applicants from who come from New York and California. Obviously what's happening is in these lib states where the taxes are insane, the crime is out of control, people are fleeing, and that includes teachers. And they're going to places like Oklahoma. And Oklahoma said, well, wait a second, hold on before you get here. They want to require applicants for teacher jobs coming from places like California and New York to pass an exam that the Republican dominated states top education official says is designed to safeguard against radical leftist ideology, but that opponents are decrying as a quote, MAGA loyalty test. MAGA loyalty. So the left is saying that they're administering a MAGA loyalty test. Now, what would a MAGA loyalty test be? Well, presumably it would be, did you vote for Donald Trump? Do you support him? Do you think he's the greatest? Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. That's the way the left would frame this. But that's not what this is at all. In fact, Ryan Walters, they say Oklahoma's public school superintendent said this week that any teacher coming from those two blue states is going to be required to pass an assessment exam administered by Prageru, an Oklahoma based conservative nonprofit, before they get a state certification. As long as I'm superintendent, Oklahoma classrooms will be safeguarded from the radical leftist ideology fostered in places like California and New York. Walters said in a statement. So how are they gonna do this? How are they gonna go about safeguarding against this kind of insanity? Well, luckily for you. You ready? Chad, you ready? You wanna take this quiz with me? We've got a couple of the sample questions here that were put out. The local media has put this out. This is KOKH in the area. And here is. Let me see. Take a look. This is the test that's being administered. KOKH describes it, and you and I will take it together. Let's do a little bit of evidence replay on the actual test and we'll see how you do.
Reagan Reese
We're getting a look into some of.
Vince Coglianese
The questions on the test that teachers.
Reagan Reese
From states like California and New York.
Vince Coglianese
Will have to take if they want.
Reagan Reese
To teach in Oklahoma. Fox 25's Paige Taylor joins us now. Paige, you got your hands on some sample questions?
Paige Taylor
Yeah, that's right. Wendy Osde sent us five sample questions from the 50 question test that teachers will have to take if they want to become certified to teach in Oklahoma. The Oklahoma State Department of education sending us five sample questions from a new test OSDE and PragerU are developing to ensure teachers coming to Oklahoma aren't what they consider woke. Here are the five questions. What are the first three?
Vince Coglianese
What are the first three words of the Constitution? Now for those of you who are watching on rumble.com Vince, look at this. What are the first three words of the Constitution? And it's multiple choice. It's not even an open ended question. Now if you should be able to nail this open ended, look at this. The options are. Look at option A. It says what are the first three words of the Constitution? Option A is four words long. In God we Trust. Are you serious? Life, Liberty, happiness. That's not even in a founding document. Life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness is what we're talking about. The United States and We the people. If you are a teacher and you can't get this right, you are in the wrong profession. You should forget being a teacher. You should be in a mental institution if you can't get the answer to this question. So the answer is you got it. D. We the people. We the people. That's right. A drooling idiot would be able to get this one correct. What else?
Paige Taylor
Words of the Constitution why is freedom of religion important to America's identity?
Vince Coglianese
Why is freedom of religion important to America's identity? Here are the answers for those of you listening. A. It makes Christianity the national religion. Wrong. B. It bans all form of public worship. Wrong. C. It limits religious teaching in public life. Wrong. D. It protects religious choice from government control. D as in duh. D. It's D. The answer is D. If you can't answer these questions, you need to be far away from a classroom.
Paige Taylor
What are the two parts of the U.S. congress?
Vince Coglianese
What are the two parts of the US Congress? Ready? The answer is A. House of Lords and Commons. B. Courts and Senate. C. Executive and Legislative. Wrong. D. Senate and House of Representatives. D for duh.
Paige Taylor
How many US Senators are there? Why do some.
Vince Coglianese
Wait, wait, wait. Well, they blew past that one real fast. How many US senators are there? A 435? B 110? C. 50 or D 100. Once again, it's D for duh. By the way, I hope that the answers are all D. Just to test how much of an idiot you actually are, every single answer is D. Why.
Paige Taylor
Do some states have and why do.
Vince Coglianese
Some states have more representatives than others? Why do some states have more representatives in the House of Representatives than others without looking? Because they have a bigger population. Is the answer ready? A. They cover a larger geographic area. Wrong. B, they have held statehood for a longer period. Wrong. C, the number is determined by military presence. Wrong. D, representation is determined by population size. D as in, duh. As in, you'd have to be a Democrat to get these answers. Incorrect. Holy cow. So those are the questions. Justin, did you realize they were that easy? Justin? Justin. He said no, he did not realize they were that easy. Yeah. No, it is a shame that they're multiple choice. Every single one of those could have just been open ended. They just, you know. You know how they do it? Just draw a line and then you fill it out, Pen or pencil, your choice, and give us your answer. That's every single one of those. You know, it's funny. Before I clicked in, every time this happens, I see this, like, could you pass the U.S. citizenship test, or could you pass this test for teachers in Oklahoma? And I'm like, oh, man, I really hope I can. I hope I'm not embarrassed by this. And then I clicked in and I saw that, and I said, holy crap, I dominated that test. Give me another one. I should teach in Oklahoma. It's unreal. And so. And I guess one of the other ones they apparently are asking is what chromosomes go to which gender? These are the types of questions that they're asking in Oklahoma. I love that they said that they're relying on PragerU. 1. I love PragerU. I love what they're up to. That's great. But it is kind of embarrassing, isn't it, that these questions are so easy that you'd have to have a room temperature IQ to get them correct? That's it. And I'm wondering. I'm like, prageru, this might not be prestige enough for you to be associated with. The questions are so completely stupid. But if any one of those answers was incorrect, reject those teachers from California and New York. There's no way they should teach in the state of Oklahoma or literally anywhere else. So, yeah, yeah, well, whatever. I like that Prageru's writing it. Justice says he can't believe they had to outsource it, but I. I think it's great. Yeah, no, it's great that Prageru's doing it, but they're so simple. Yeah, yeah. What color is the grass? What color is the sky? If you can't get those correct, you can't be a teacher in Oklahoma. Well, good to see they have some standards in Oklahoma. And it filters out the libs. That's a big one. All right, coming up, we'll have a big radio show ahead 12 to 3 nationwide. Title: The Pro-Crime Left Is Officially Finding Out
Date: August 21, 2025
Host: Vince Coglianese
Guest: Reagan Reese (White House Correspondent, The Daily Caller)
In this episode, Vince Coglianese offers a pointed critique of the left's response to President Trump's recent crime crackdown in Washington, D.C. and other major cities. With characteristic sarcasm and directness, Vince discusses incidents involving illegal immigrants and crime in the nation's capital, media reactions, and the broader political implications for urban policy and public safety. The episode features an in-depth conversation with Reagan Reese, who provides White House insights, including updates on the Ukraine-Russia situation, changes at the White House, and the current state of the press corps.
“Why do you think that guy tried to hit the A gap so quickly? ...Because he knew that's a part of his record. He keeps getting ejected from the country over and over and then he keeps coming back. And then when he does, he allegedly is abusing kids under the age of 13. No. Let’s get this guy out of the country. Bye bye, bye bye. It’s time to go. Adios.” (Vince, 07:00)
Policy & Protest:
[08:00–13:00] Vince discusses the symbolic cleanup at Union Station — now described as cleaner, safer, and “restored” due to federal intervention.
"How would you be mad at crime ending? ...How would you be mad at cleaning up our nation's capital?" (Vince, 10:05)
Public Reception & Media Framing:
[12:00–14:00]
J.D. Vance on Fox News:
“I don’t know why Democrats seem to love public disorder and chaos almost as a political ideology... They don’t realize so many people have been absolutely terrorized by Democrat crime policies.” (J.D. Vance, 13:04)
Policy Shift:
[14:00–19:00] Vince cites a Wall Street Journal op-ed supporting Trump’s focus on mental health/drugs over housing policy as causes of urban homelessness.
“The left for many years has excused their failures... ‘It’s an affordability issue.’ ...President Trump has taken extraordinary measures to fulfill an ordinary function of government: keeping clean, orderly streets.” (Vince, 15:50)
Stark Outcomes:
Polling Skepticism:
[19:00–22:00] Vince argues polls showing D.C. residents oppose the crackdown are misleading; he claims most people welcome safety but vote reflexively against Trump.
“These polls are bullshit. ...In these polls, it’s just ‘do you like Trump or not?’” (Vince, 20:19)
Restaurant Hoax:
[22:00–28:00]
Vince dissects the claim that D.C. restaurant business has dropped 25% due to policing. He points out:
“So we start with the lie, we get to the facts, and now we arrive at the truth. Things are a lot better right now in Washington, D.C. ...The restaurants are benefiting...” (Vince, 27:00)
White House Atmosphere & Ukraine Deal:
[32:25–36:00] Reagan suggests a delicate Ukraine-Russia peace deal may be underway, citing a strangely quiet White House schedule and closed executive orders.
“I have my suspicions that they’re working on this deal...it’s very sensitive. And that's why I think you’re not seeing the president very often.” (Reagan Reese, 33:16)
America First & Military Commitments:
“Right now it sounds like putting troops in the air is still a possibility. ...I think that’s something that the President is probably considering and thinking about the base as well, because how do you square that with America first?” (Reagan Reese, 35:07)
White House Renovations:
[36:00–39:00] Discussion of new American flags, Rose Garden refurbishment, and plans for a privately funded Trump Ballroom.
“If he’s paying for it, they should just call it the Trump Ballroom...the fact that he’s already changed all of these things has to drive the left crazy.” (Vince, 39:00)
Fun fact: The Roosevelt Room was once called the Fish Room due to a giant tank of fish maintained by Teddy Roosevelt.
White House Press Dynamics:
[41:10–48:00] Reagan describes shifting attitudes in the press corps with Trump’s return—they enjoy more access but react ambivalently.
“When I covered the Biden administration...we would go days without seeing the president...A lot of people missed the access they got during the Trump administration.” (Reagan Reese, 42:19)
“If you are a teacher and you can’t get this right, you are in the wrong profession ...you should be in a mental institution if you can’t get the answer...” (Vince, 52:17)
“Every single answer is D, just to test how much of an idiot you actually are...” (Vince, 54:21)
Vince on left-leaning reactions to the D.C. arrest:
“The only tears you should be crying are tears of happiness that somebody’s finally fixing all of this.” (00:35)
Stephen Miller, mocking protestors:
“We’re going to ignore these stupid white hippies that all need to go home and take a nap because they’re all over 90 years old.” (08:56)
J.D. Vance on Democratic policies:
“Democrats have gotten so divorced [from] the communities that they allegedly serve that they don’t realize the gross majority of residents in D.C. ...want to walk through Union Station... They don’t make the connection...” (13:04)
Vince on media's restaurant narrative:
“Are all the criminals who were dining at Le Diplomate no longer showing up anymore? That makes no sense at all.” (24:45)
Reagan Reese on press room culture:
“My approach...get in, get out, and then I don’t. I go in, I do my job, and I leave...” (44:51)
Direct, sarcastic, with a blend of biting humor and policy commentary. Vince relishes “triggering” the left, frequently mocks “woke” narratives, and features right-of-center insider perspectives. The conversation with Reagan Reese is more conversational but still driven by skepticism of legacy media and government narratives.
For listeners seeking a pointed conservative take on current events in D.C., analysis of left-right political battles over crime and urban disorder, and insider White House tidbits, this episode delivers both energetic rant and in-depth reporting.
