It's a. It's just a thing they do. I don't know if it's like a Hamptons thing, what it is, but they only fight by saying each other's names. And it cracks me up that, I mean, they've done it for so many seasons, and they're still doing it. Whenever they get in a fight, they go, carl, Kyle, Kyle, Carl, Carl, Kyle, Kyle, Carl, Carl. It's like, guys, we know your basic ass names, okay?

Yeah.

And they did that. And then Carl got really upset and started, you know, acting all tough and then waited for people to be there to hold him back, to act like he was gonna get physical. You know, it's just typical. We've been watching the Show now it 10 years, and they are still pulling the same from the first season. And I loved it. I loved it. It was like going home.

[Ben Mandelker]

It was great. It was a great fight also. I thought this was a great episode for Carl. You know, we've done nothing but give Carl for 10 years, and I think he's deserved all the we've given him. But I also got to say, I thought he was really good this episode. I was happy to see him actually say exactly what was on his mind to Kyle, at least during that fight and mouth off to Kyle. And I thought that was good. Good for Carl. It was like. It felt like almost like.

And then immediately resend it right after. Oh, Carl.

You know, it was like a supernova that, like, burns bright and then, like, collapses down.

No, I didn't mean anything. I didn't mean. I wasn't. I wasn't offended about you not investing.

Not at all. H. But it also felt like we've been sitting through this precious Carl for a few years now, where it's like, I'm just like, think about myself. I'm just, like, trying to protect myself. It's like talking in therapist speak for so long, and then all of a sudden, like, the. The seas parted and Carl just started acting just like a little bit more normal, you know? And by. No, normal is a wrong word. That's such a loaded term. But, like, the therapy speak Sort of went away for a moment. It just was like he was just saying what was on his mind and he was talking to the. To. He was talking to other people in that way. He was talking to us that way. It was like, oh, my God, Carl, look. Look at you. But, you know. And then he sort of comes back in. But I thought it was a good episode for Carl, to be honest.

Yeah, well, it was. It was an episode that Carl was in, and I enjoyed that. It was. It was a great episode. This is just a great episode. I mean, I think what I really loved about it. I mean, I don't. I never fall for Carl's bullshit. You know, I have a thing. I do have a thing where Carl just makes me crazy. I don't know. I mean, I do know what it is. It's a lot of things, but he just kind of makes me crazy. So I'm never, ever on Carl's side. And I think this was another episode where it was just like Carl being Carl, like, trying to look all tough in front of everybody and then immediately taking everything back. Like he couldn't stand behind really anything he said. It's just typical Whisk Carl. But let me tell you, Carl may make me crazy, but he's been very entertaining on this show. Over the years, even the boring years, he's brought something. He's pissed other people off, you know, and even when he's making me rage and scream and yell, which I've done a lot of, I leave feeling like, well, that was something. It gave me something, you know? So, yeah, it's like empty calories, but they're still calories, and I love calories. I love them so veggie crisp.

Yeah, I was. I was into it. But my favorite thing was that somebody was finally telling Carl what we've been screaming all these years. Because it seems like sometimes when you watch these shows and everybody's just maybe babying the person in this. In this situation, Carl, it's like, does nobody see this? Is anybody seeing this? Is it just us seeing this? So it's nice to hear Kyle being like, fuck you, car. What do I do to you? Nothing. You to wind all summer. You're like, oh, I'm so sensitive. And I loved that. I loved Kyle yelling at Carl. I was cracking.

And yeah, they're fighting at each other.

And instant side Lindsay, you know, old dependable Lindsay is like, oh my God, Carl, look at me, girl. Look at me, girl. Yeah, take a deep breath, Carl, take a deep breath. I'm so like he's coming after me and he's like flipping out of everybody else. Oh yeah, you think he wants a piece of me? I'm going back out there.

It's more like, this is Carl, the guy I've known for many years, and I'm Lindsay. Like, we have a relationship that goes back many years, and. Yeah, exactly. So meanwhile, Amanda and Kyle are outside. She's still like, please breathe for a second. He's like, I'm sick of being in the frying pan. She's like, no one's frying anything. Yeah, they are. I got bacon grease all over me. No one even wipes it off, and it just coagulates.

So I don't know, like, but also, like, I mean, I think it's kind of weird for a 43 year old to be like, I'm leaving you DJing, but at the same time, he is bringing you money and trying to pay off a million dollar debt.

And, like, one thing that is happening through this episode is that this trio is, like, in the wake of the resolution of an episode and a half ago. Like, it's kind of like, oh, my God, we're back. We're back, we're back, we're back. Yes. The trio is back again. And which makes the real world news all the sadder with the whole love triangle, because it's like, you guys were in such a good place. So Ben is, like, with Kyle. He's like, you want to have a seat, mate? Just. Just sit down and chill. Just sit down. Sit right next to this male model and enjoy yourself. Okay. Basket.

I had a huge conversation with Sierra on the beach, as you're saying. Maybe you would imagine separate for a month. Oh. And that's what's bringing up this emotion right now. So it wasn't my fault either. It wasn't my fault after all. Oh, my God. Residency management. Who knew? Didn't even have anything to do with it. Get vindicated.

I just feel attacked, you know? And Lindsay's like, well, I know.

And I feel really bad about that.

Just kidding. I don't. But I'll tell you that it's like I'm just being blamed for, like, everything. Like, I'm in such a freaking vulnerable, sensitive spot that I was like, oh, my God, I can't wait for this weekend, you know? So.

Yeah. And you have a lot of pressure. Yeah. It didn't take much to just rock my world. Okay, I know, Kyle, but one second. You know, you have to wait, work on your reactions. Like, you got to stop saying you to Amanda. I mean, that has to stop. He's like, but she deserted me. I feel like she deserted me even though I'm gone six months a year.

Yeah. And I love that Lindsay said this. She goes. And maybe she feels asserted when you go in DJ and then go out and stay out late, and then she's getting dms. Like, that leaves someone feeling abandoned as well. And that's what you have to understand. Then he's like, but no, there's no sex for seven years and no attention and no friendship and no partnership will probably wear someone down. So basically, he's saying, yeah, there's a reason why I'm going out and DJing all the time. It's because I am also feeling like I'm not getting. I feel abandoned as well. So basically the point is they are living in a hellhole of a relationship and they both need to get up because they both feel abandoned by each other. At some point, I feel like I've sort of gotten to a place where it's like a chicken and egg situation, because it's like, oh, my God, like, Kyle has, like, Kyle's going off and DJing, and Amanda just wants her husband. It's like, Kyle, you don't even realize how you're contributing the downfall of this relationship. But then you see Amanda being so emotionally distant and closed off to Kyle, and you're like, well, you know, you gotta, like, give something to, to your man, right? Like, you got like, you're in this relationship too. But then you're like, but she's like that because Kyle's like this. He goes, but Kyle's doing that because of Amanda. And you realize, like, there's no point in seeing where this all started. Well, there is. We all know where it started, which was the affair. Honestly, that's where it all started.

Yeah, but that was before they were even married.

[Ben Mandelker]

And it was even before then because, like, we wouldn't have. Summer should be fun. Amanda, not fun. If there weren't already these issues in this relationship, let's be honest.

I mean, it started the first episode, and I say that was before the marriage. Not like that excuses anything, by the way. I'm just saying it's from the very beginning, it's always been this dynamic of, like, kyle, I'll come over, but I don't want to keep coming over if I'm not your girl girlfriend. Well, I don't want a girlfriend. But then I'm not gonna keep coming over. But then I need you to come over. But then I need you to be my boyfriend. Okay, we're boyfriend and girlfriend. I mean, it's been this, like, crying, and you don't want me. And then from the beginning. So it's been. That's been their thing from the beginning. I don't think they would even know how to break out of the cycle. You know, at some point, it's just like chewed up gum on the ground. You know, you see it and you're like, I didn't chew it up. I'm not cleaning that shit up. And it just stays there, there, and it stays there and it stays there and eventually you're done. It clears, and you're like, I do not need a piercing. I'm 50. And you walk back to your car, and you end up stepping in the gum. Like, you could have just bent down and cleaned up that gum, and this would have been solved. But now you've ruined your Adidas. They were the only cute shoes you had.

That's a hundred percent what I think of. And I think. I think ultimately, Kyle, the problem this relationship is, I think that Kyle always dangled the carrot of, like, don't worry, this is what I'm doing right now is temporary. And you're gonna, like, like, you will. We will reach the promised land together as a couple. And then she's just always thought that she could change him. And, like, that. It's just. It was never gonna work all these years. But where it started, hard to say, but it happened all at once, I think, and it's terrible. So Kyle is now crying, and he's sad. And then outside, Justin's just Jesse and west and Sierra hanging out. And Jesse's like, this is tequila rocks. I don't know if you guys want something to drink, right? And they're like. And Wes goes, oh, this is, like, so 2023. Oh, my God. And Sierra goes, we are so back. Like, Sierra.

No. And so, yeah, they're, like, celebrating. So then Lindsay is checking with Amanda now, and she's like, well, I mean, I had a calm conversation with Kyle, and I was like, what you cannot do anymore is a you to Amanda. And then he started crying, and he was like, but I feel deserted. And then he said he had a long conversation with Sierra and she suggested maybe you take a month off. And she's like, yeah, I told her he wouldn't go for that. Oh, my God. It's not only his choice. It doesn't matter if he goes for it. I think a lot of this, too, is because Kyle has, like, a monologue later to himself where, all right, no one's going to listen to me. I'm just going to do a Days of our Lives monologue in the closet. And he just goes to the closet and starts talking to himself into the mic. He's like, yeah, well, this sucks, because Amanda's wanted to leave me forever, but she won't do it because she won't do anything on her own. And I think that's a part of it, too. It's like, well, Kyle, you know, Kyle's paying for stuff, and Kyle's got the apartment, and Kyle pays for the Car. And Kyle does this and Kyle does that and she doesn't want to. It's like leaving home. You know, it's like, my parents are mean, but I have to now pay for stuff.

I think this has also been a

common, really red thing. I was out when I was 15, but still, you know, I get the. I get the idea.

I think this is a common thread also is that I think that Kyle really. He's a. He is, I think, very alpha. And he's like a self starter and he goes. And he's an entrepreneur and he goes, goes, goes, goes. And I think that's not Amanda. That's not really her vibe. And you know, she sounds like she's not the same sort of self starter. She's also has been very open about dealing with, you know, mental health and falling into depressions. So, like, I think car. I mean, Kyle struggles with Amanda being like, just not as active or as motivated, and that drives him absolutely nuts. And I do almost wonder if now Amanda sort of. She is in that kind of lane of like, I'm just gonna have someone do this for me because, like, what's even the point of trying to make my own decision because he's just gonna. Like, he's just gonna railroad over my choices anyway.

Well, I mean, I think there's definitely something to him always making the decisions. And then like, well, what kind of person are you if you. If you want to be making all the decisions and then you're with somebody who has no. No drive in them, you know? So what does that say about you? Is it like, do you want a controlling thing with them or whatever? I mean, they've both just got so many up things going on.

So many codependent things going on.

That. Right. Thanks. So. So, man. So Lindsay's. Yeah. Saying this whole thing about, like, she says that Kyle got really emotional about this stuff. And so Amanda's like, well, one thing about Sierra is that she tends to say out loud what I've been thinking internally, which is sort of another example

Like, I've had all these thoughts and at this point, all the use, all the glares, all the nastiness just make me feel stupid. Like, what am I holding out for? Yeah. But at the same time, also, this is the point where you need to be the one saying these things, not Sierra like you. You need to have the conversations. And then when Sierra was saying this stuff, stuff you should have said to Sierra, but this is something I have to talk to Kyle about, you know, but she doesn't, because she knows that Sierra is going to go to bat for her. And that's kind of shitty, I think, because it's like. It's a weird position, you know, It's a weird thing to have this friend be the one. Be like, you guys should separate.

Yeah. But there's a lot more going on than emotionally, too, because there is the whole lover boy thing. And that's been going on since they've been together pretty much almost the whole time they've been together. So it's like, do I leave him now? Do I leave this guy who I've have been in this hellish relationship with now when basically all we have is debt, or do I hold out hoping we can eventually sell this thing and there's a payout? You know what I mean?

Not to be cynical, but anybody with any kind of brain in a divorce is going to be thinking that, like, well, do I leave now, or do I wait for this thing to finally be a success that I've been a part of, too? You know? So, yeah, she's very much like, yeah, it's here is just saying what I'm thinking. And so then back in the kitchen, she's like, I mean, this just can't be the way he handles things. That was a lot. And Bailey's like, oh, my God. I'm not gonna lie. I did not hate angry Carl. That was so hot. Oh, my God, I'm so into Carl.

Guys, Mia's like, did that turn you on a little bit? Oh, it did. It did. It did. I saw the bad side, and I was like. I was getting. He was getting pulled off him, and I was like, oh, I don't hate this. I am. I am ready to go grab a bowl of sweet green and do things in the bathroom with it. Whoa.

Now there's a man who can throw a salmon salad across the sweet greens right there. It's like, oh, that's pretty bad. It's like you're kind of bored with Carl until he shows the toxic traits. So west goes inside to see Amanda, of course, and she's like, oh, my God, Wes, are you pulling up your chair next to me to stand up for me against Kyle? And then they hug and hug long and hug. And he kisses her head and sniffs her hair. The whole thing.

The whole thing. And clearly, if they have not been hooking up already, this has got to have been at a conservative timeline. This has got to have been the beginning of the emotional affair, right?

This is like a significant moment right in this timeline.

Those two are so. He's like kissing her head and stuff. And he says, no problem. She's like, I love you. He's like, you good? Because he's not even gonna say it now. There's no way you're not gonna get that out of him. Second. Yeah, it's gonna be. So now Sierra goes inside and Jesse's like, don't worry, I'll stay out here with a watermelon. Okay? We just see him with a random watermelon on the porch.

So I tried to calm you down, but then I realized you're so short, you already are kind of down. So I was like. I was actually trying to see if I could calm you way down. You wait to hum you up? Yeah, pretty far down on the way.

Well, I was trying to look at the clouds.

Yeah. They really do. Especially because one of Them is named Vagisil. Like, oh, so awkward. So Kyle is like, all I want to do is just, like, squash it. Cuz, like, that was heated by the way. Kyle. Kyle putting more energy and more effort into making sure, like, he's understood and that, like, Carl feels like, okay than he does with Amanda is also kind of really sad. Like, he puts more effort into trying to see Carl's perspective.

I mean, kind of. But he's been doing this with Amanda for so long that it's like he knows she's hopeless.

Yeah.

And also, I think he's still. I. I think he still believes, like, Amanda was the one starting all of this by going to everybody talking, talking behind my back. So he's still pissed off at Amanda. I'm sure he blames this whole thing with Carl on Amanda, you know?

I'm not saying whether that's right or not, but I think that's probably how

he thinks Kyle was happy because he was just happy that car. He says, I feel like you needed to get that out a little bit. Like, And y'.

A little bit. It's like. It's like. Because Carl never really says what's on his mind, so Kyle's just, like, proud of him. I'm not really mad at that at all.

I was fired up. Yeah. I was all over there. Yeah. You know, and, you know, I thought you threw a drink at me. He goes, what? Yeah. When you got out to the front, you had your lover boy and you threw it at the house. But I thought it wasn't me, so, you know, I thought it was like. I thought it was like you throwing a drink at brick and Mortar, and

I got really upset. Like, I'm sorry. I didn't realize that. No, no. I just want the best for you. I just want you to throw your lover boy, like, away from humans, you know? Yeah, I know. I. I don't know how it transpired from, like. I don't know. It's like, yo, well, you feel attacked. I get it. Because I was attacked by your lover boy. Oh, sorry. I just had a flashback to that. I have to remember, you were not being attacked by the lover boy. He meant to hit the shingles. Okay. But I'm sorry. And, like, when I see you tell your wife you like, that's out of line, Carl. That's, like, really out of line. You would think at this point, Kyle. I think Kyle has, like, calmed down enough that now he has perspective to be like, yeah, you're right, that was up. But nope, he doesn't.

No, he's like, no, because he's out there and I'm talking. I feel like this is how it's been. Like, I'm taking bullets and Amanda's eating it up. And that's why I said you. You know, because she just like, dude, imagine feeling like your wife and your partner. I mean, I can't even remember the last time she stood up for me,

but makes me sad. And I'm sure she's actually stood up for you quite frequently. So then in Sierra's rooms here and Amanda are in bed, and Amanda's like, dude, when he looked at me across the table and I didn't even say anything, and he was just like, you. That was like, the worst part of it. And Sierra's like, yeah, me too. She's. Because I didn't even say anything. I think what I need to do is just, like, put myself in someone else's shoes. Yeah. I think that's all that's a good way to live life, is to put yourself in someone else's shoes and see what they might think of a situation. Like, any situation you might find yourself in, it's good, before you embark on it, to say, well, how would this person feel about that? I think that's a really good idea, Amanda.

[Ronnie Caram]

Unfortunately, you don't take that advice anytime soon. But when she's like, look, this you from Kyle, that's never going to be okay. But Amanda, you were sitting there smirking and smiling and, like, making faces at everybody during that whole thing, during that dinner. Like, Amanda just being like, oh, my God, like, so innocent. It's making me crazy. And she's like, yeah, I didn't say anything. So Mia comes in and she's like, yeah, well, how would you feel if that happened to one of your friend's boyfriends? And she's like, I'd be fighting with my friend. Like, I don't even know you guys. Taking, like, I wouldn't even be able to handle someone talking to my friend like that.

And I mean, the truth of this, I was just like, you know, joking about how, like, you know, when Amanda says she should, like, be in someone else's shoes, obviously, like, like, it's dramatic irony, foreshadowing to what's to happen. But in this case. You actually really should do that because it's like she shouldn't be in this relationship at all. Like you. Like, it's just. There's just no world in which your husband says you to you that you should ever tolerate that or be okay with that. And especially if it's on camera. If someone, if your husband feels comfortable saying that to you on camera, like, yeah, it's time to go. It's time to do that. It's over. It's done.

Yeah. You need to think of what it's like to be in someone else's shoes. And those shoes need to be on a person that's walking away from something. Okay. Empathize with that.
