All right, welcome everyone. This is Gabriel Custodiet. I'm really excited to be announcing a live event. This is called Access Internet Anywhere. That title might change, but this is the general idea how to access the Internet well anywhere. And we have a very special guest as the main instructor of this course. This is the inimitable Stephen Harris. Harris has been for the last bit of time advising some of the most impressive companies in the world. And now he's taking a break from that to teach this course. You've heard from him before, you know his credentials. They speak for themselves. He's a very impressive person. Very pleased to have Harris on the call here to explain a little bit about this course. So Stephen, how's it going?

Very good. I want to tell you that I am walking to walk right now. I am in my bug out trailer and I am in the middle under a bunch of trees, 120 acre wood, no joke. I got a big field next to me about 1500 by 1500ft. I got my Starlink out there and I got a 350 foot cable running to the Starlink. And actually there's a seismic station near me of some people I consult to, which is why I get to be out here. And we're upgrading it and doing some things. And I got a 450 foot 18 gauge cable carrying electricity to the seismic station to the Starlink Mini. We just put on it because it couldn't handle it locally. The upgraded battery just came in. So I'm powering that and the whole thing is, look, it's not just like do the store link and put it up. Well, you got to power it, you got to have the right angle. And then it's like, what if you don't want to be next to your Starlink? What if you want to be a kilometer away? How do you get the data back? You know, is it. Do you do it by fiber, do you do it by copper? Do you do it by wireless? Do you do it by WI FI patch antenna? Do you use like a ubiquity bridge? So Internet anywhere is a lot more than just get a Starlink and point it at the sky. Because I taught this all the way going back to, to the inmarsat days in 2003 and 2004. So when we say Internet anywhere it's going to encompass everything.

No, absolutely. And I'm really excited for this. By the way you're speaking on. You're in the middle of a forest right now. You're speaking through Starlink. Is that the Internet connection right now?
B
Yes, yes. And I have two cellular backups right now. I have 4G and 5G cellular data here. I think you did a whole thing about how much you love cellular data. I got it on T Mobile and on Verizon. I have directional antennas, I have omnidirectional antennas. And Even though I'm 3.2 miles from the nearest tower, I use cell mapper and I can pick out my towers. And with this device that we use, I can lock onto a tower and lock onto a frequency such that it doesn't change. Like, maybe I want band 5 or 4 or 13 on 4G, you know, or I want a specific one, and it's like without cellular router, I can lock onto it. So I could be having this conversation even at my worst case of 2 meg up and like 14 down through the woods with a directional antenna about 20ft up to a cell tower 3.2 miles away. You get the feeling I've measured the stuff. I could be doing this conversation right now with you over cellular data as we speak.

Now, now, Harris, let's go kind of to the origins of this, because you've obviously been doing this stuff for a very long time. In the last year or so, we kind of decided, hey, let's hone in and really get a class like this going. What. What exactly does. Let's start with this because you're. You're big on the prepping mindset. Accessing the Internet anywhere. Why is this so important for people to understand?

I see. How far back do I want to go? All man's advancement is based upon communications. You know what pulled us out of the dark Ages in medieval history, literally, it was monks writing books. Because when once one person found out how to, like, terrace grapes on hillsides and grow them, you know, the monks recorded how to do it. And it went from Monastery to monastery. Then we had the Gutenberg press in the 1400 ish, 1500s come to life. And within 25 years, there was 50 million books in print. And that was the next communications revolution. And even transportation is called communications of goods and services. So all human advancement is based upon communications. And let's say I'm out in the middle. I'm out in the middle of nowhere and I have to call 911. I have to communicate that that's communications. I just can't, like, send up a flare. And actually, I do have a flare I can send up in the air. But, you know, you got to call for assistance, call for help. I might have to call the person whose property I'm on. I might need to call the nearest big city 45 minutes away and say, hey, is my prescription ready for pickup? Communications is the great time saver. It's not just a source of information. It's a source of communication, of decision making. In the military, they have something called the military kill chain, which is find, fix and finish. So Gulf War one is a perfect example. They had all the Iraqi artillery battalions. Well, they would bomb out all the roads and bridges around them, bomb out their communications cables, jam their RF communications, fly by with a jet, blow up their big generator just with the gun, not the people. So now they're fixed. They can't move, they can't drive out, and they can't communicate and they run out of food and water. And that's why you had the big mass surrenders during Gulf War one, because a bunch of hungry and thirsty Iraqis and Finnish is, well, either they surrender or you kill them. And this comes into part of what's called the Ooda loop, which stands for observe, orient, decide, act. And the heart of the Ooda loop is communications. So if I want to, like, really put Gabriel in a hurt, the first thing I'm going to do is I'm going to kill your communications if you cannot communicate. I affixed you to being only yourself and what you have as being like. For my mother, it's like I'm her number one lifeline. If she has to go to the hospital or is in the hospital, the only person that's going to watch over her real health and safety is me. And so if she needs to be able to reach me, I need to be able to reach her. Plus, you know, you need to coordinate your efforts in like a disaster and everything else. Someone goes like, I'm running out of water or I have a problem. And it's like well, hey, you're 1.2 miles down the road from me. It's like, I got a well, I got plenty of power. Come on over here with everything that you got, and you can fill it all up with water and take it back to your place. Or someone might say, I'm hurt and someone else is a nurse and you got a suture kit, and it's a lot easier if a qualified nurse or doctor does the suturing on you. So with communications, you have access to more resources beyond yourself. You become a community rather than isolated from a prepper point of view.

Absolutely. Absolutely. There's all sorts of other benefits of understanding multiple ways to access the Internet. Most people are just using their traditional Internet service providers or their phone service. And for example, what you were mentioning, Harris, was that I got into some cellular routers. This was legitimately a no KYC way of accessing the Internet. I talked about this in our Watchman's Torch newsletter, and we'll be talking about this in this class, obviously, as well. So there's many benefits. Now, what are some of the things that people are going to be learning in this course, Harris?

Oh, okay. Well, if you want me to take a Watchman's Torch, escape the technocracy point of view. It's like we'll talk about how to put a device in a car near a McDonald's or actually on the wall outside of a McDonald's, such that you can access it literally in the parking garage 2km away and access the Internet through the McDonald's Wi Fi through a little repeater you put on the wall. Or if you want, I can actually shoot my wifi with the right antenna 2km and access the McDonald's directly. But it's like, if you want to know, KYC, access something. We're going to talk about all the different means and methods of doing that, such that you're not in the McDonald's on their security camera, in the library on their security camera, or in any other place on their security camera or in the neighborhood or close by. You know, you can be sitting there with your camera, your telescope camera on remote on your computer, and you can be looking at the McDonald's and doing whatever you want to do. And, like, all of a sudden, there's a bunch of police lights around the McDonald's. It's like, huh, they're after me. Not saying this is anything illegal, but I don't know, let's say for some reason you were falsely accused of something. You're trying to prove your innocence or, or whatever. I think the reckless Ben thing on YouTube that has been blowing up would be a good example why someone who was falsely accused and railroaded might want to have anonymous communications to get his ducks in a row such that he could legally attack this with counsel and everything else.

Exactly. Are you going to be discussing things like Iridium 5G, give people a flavor of some of the other ways that they can access the Internet.

Oh my God. During the days of piracy men on ships in pirate waters. I was doing overwatch for them and I was getting the Office of Naval Intelligence, the UK MTL reports and I was going through every English daily for all the foreign countries and I was sending an email to their toughbook located on the ship. And they literally had a standard iridium 9505 sat phone with the digital clip on it. And they would put the hockey puck antenna, which literally looks like a hockey puck and it's magnetic. They'd open the, not the hatch, the porthole, the ship magnet onto the side of the ship and they would access the Starlink. They'd have to dial into it literally like old fashioned modem days. And they would literally get their email at 9600 BAUD compressed, which is 2400 BAUD actual. But email can be compressed easily and that worked. We can talk about doing it via many of the ham radio methods, JSA call or packet, which Winlink as well as, let's see, what are some of you got? You got basically going old fashioned. They're still in Marsat and BGAN terminals. There's more competition coming onto the market. So Starlink is not your only thing doing it by cellular, doing it by relay to another location, whether it's a friend's house, your house, your terrestrial Internet or McDonald's terrestrial Internet or a library. Iridium is another method. But Iridium is very kyc. It's very, very kyc.

Sure there's going to be some aspects of this course are going to be kyc, others not. But obviously the main theme here is ability to use the Internet in many ways. And that itself can be freeing, obviously.

Yeah, exactly. In fact, I think you told me about some websites I didn't know about that you could surf through. And what they would do is they're especially meant for the days of when you were a low bandwidth sailor, you were sailing the ocean blue solo sailing or families sailing the ocean and you had an Iridium device that gave you data and I think it was called Iridium Go and it wasn't on what's called the Iridium telemetry network. It was on their data network but your baud rate was limited. And you could surf the web through this website like you go to CNN and it would strip out all the pictures, just give you the text and. Or you could click on a picture and it would give you like a low res version of that image. So it would strip out all the high bandwidth stuff, stuff for you such that you could see and read some stuff. And mostly they wanted the weather, the satellite ma, the satellite images and the current weather forecast for where they were. But the Iridium go was a popular thing for that because they had basically had unlimited text messaging through that for like $60 a month. And also for unlimited text message we got the Garmin Iridium inreach series of stuff which is more like unlimited text messaging. And then it is like surfing the Internet.

Sure.

So this is where the Q and A and the richness of the Q and A. Because the person is going to ask, you know, completely anonymously, I don't know who they are or anything else. They're going to ask like, this is my situation, this is what I need to do. What do you suggest for this?

Maybe somebody's listening, Harris, and maybe they're not entirely familiar with you with this particular brand. They say, well, you know, isn't this information elsewhere on the Internet? Can't I track this down on YouTube? Give help people understand why you are a huge step up from what they've heard before.

Well, it comes down to being Harris approved and the people and the entities I consult to this is done with life and death seriousness. I mean literally, I got a phone call a couple months ago and the guy called and said, hey Harris. I go, yeah. He goes, you know Chili, you know, he was in your class like four years ago. I go, yeah, yeah. He's like, he just got feet draw United States. And his first call was to me to call you and say the only reason he's home alive is because of what you taught in this class. So I take this life and death serious. Literally. I don't have any ambiguity or like, well, this might work if you're like this and that. It's like what I'm telling you I've done. And if I haven't done it, I'll tell you if I'm not sure about it. I'll say I give you a 75% chance this will work. Other than that giving you everything I've done. When we talk about McDonald's stuff, it's stuff I've done. When we talk about, you know, being in the woods, I'm talking to you in the woods on Starlink right now. And literally, like I said, The Starlink is 350ft away from me right now. And I got a direct link to it. I just did a project for a company that had to do with data acquisition and it was a very, very noisy environment and I had to run my computers together and it's like I used off the shelf fiber from Amazon and it was literally cheaper and faster than copper. Of course, fiber is immune to electrical noise that we had an RF noise we had in the facility. And 300ft of multimode fiber with the SFP connectors was $52 each. SFP gateway to 2.5 gig Ethernet was 58 bucks. And this is multimode. If I went to the single mode fiber, which has two fibers in it, you'll see two distinct fibers instead of one fiber. And you up the power of your receivers and your transmitters. It's like you can go kilometers. So we'll talk about using single mode fiber and like running it kilometers. And plus I have like how we're going to power that. I have literally run a kilowatt of power through a kilometer of 22 gauge wire.
