A
Attention. The party is about to commence.
B
Welcome to the party. What's up, party people? Merry Christmas. I'm Julie Foudy.
A
And I am Abby Wambach. Happy holidays, everybody. And if you're watching, you are seeing Julie and I in our holiday cheer. Jules, do you wear that?
B
I do. I have my full Santa onesie on.
A
It's a onesie.
B
Yeah, it's a onesie. Here. I wish I could show you the whole thing. It's so comfortable. It's so comfortable. I can kind of show you the whole thing. I back up as far as I can. I got a desk behind me. My Santa onesie. Yeah. I come down on Christmas Day always as. As Santa. This thing has. It's probably been in. In the tradition now, for the Christmas tradition now for maybe six years. And I still fit into it, so I'm very happy about that.
A
Okay. I love it. I love it.
B
Where did you get that beautiful hat, Abs?
A
Well, my. So our national team had a. A chef that would come on the last couple of years of my. My career. The chef would come with us and. And she would get. And she would make us our food. Right. When we were on the road and.
B
Hotels, for the record, we never had a chef.
A
Yeah, that's really nice. Yeah, it was at the end. Very end of my career. And Susan, Susan, Susan, we love you. And so after I retired and we moved back to la, I. I would hire her for, like, special events. And she. She had this made and gave it to Glennon as a present. And so, Susan, if you're listening, you're the best. And we wear this every Christmas. And we're so grateful to you for everything that you've done for us over the years. She's the best chef. She, like, makes healthy food, but it tastes good, you know?
B
Oh, super healthy. Susan. I want Susan in my life as well. And I want that hat. Do you want to describe the hat for those who can't see you?
A
Yeah. Let me give you a close up here, folks. So it's just like a little headband? Yeah, just a little headband. And it's got antlers and maybe mistletoe. I don't even know. We just got some mistletoe upstairs, and I didn't know that that's what it looked like. And it's just beautiful. Look at this thing. Yeah. Maybe you can't see.
B
Very artistic. Very cute. Yeah, well done. Well done. All right, well, Merry Christmas, everyone. We hope that.
A
We hope whether you're happy holidays also.
B
Yeah. Whether you're celebrating Christmas or Hanukkah or something else or everything else or absolutely nothing at all. We're really glad that you're here. And we're going to do a little bit of something different today, right, Abs?
A
We are, yeah. My kind of. This is my kind of episode.
B
This is my kind of episode as well. Because we have been at this now for a few months with welcome to the party. And we thought, well, let's pull back the curtain a little bit. Let's show our party people the ridiculousness that sometimes they do usually see a lot of it, but sometimes they don't see. And literally it's like the outtakes, the behinds this, the behind the scenes chaos. The ad reads. Always the ad reads, get me. I cannot stop giggling. I just can't. I don't know what is wrong with me. And the real time kind of figuring it out stuff. So Abby and I do pride ourselves in being great talkers. I mean, anyone who gets a shirt handed to them saying, help me, I'm talking and I can't shut up is a great talker. But we're not always great at talking as well. And like sometimes the tech can go sideways and the props attack us. And honestly, the real problem is, is we just sometimes can't stop laughing.
A
I mean, Jules, it's so weird. It's. It feels like that's why I love doing this so much, is because we laugh a lot. And then you and I, the kind of laughter, we have the similar like 13 year old immature kind of humor. And so then we cannot stop laughing. And then if you're giggling, I'm giggling and we're recording and you know, you'll just look or you'll say something. So. Okay, be enough setting this up. Our first up thing we're gonna do is we're gonna be talking about those tongue tied moments that had us rolling. Play the clip.
B
Let's get this party started with the highlights and headlights.
A
Headlights. Jules, you said headlights.
B
Ding. And then when she's at press, at press conferences, not breast conferences. Don't forget to subscribe to the welcome to the partu partu. YouTube. Don't forget to subscribe.
A
Welcome to the part.
B
YouTube.
A
The YouTube.
B
Welcome to depart YouTube channel. You don't know when you too could.
A
Come to the party. YouTube. You know, to come to the party. YouTube.
B
I practically sweep. Why do I always do this? My stomach hurts. My Mongolian sweeping it.
A
My Mongolian Mongolian Twitter.
B
Now I'm crying and my mascara is running. Great, great question. I just, I don't know why I. I went into. Into. What was the cartoon God shadowing the rabbit.
A
The. The. The bug's bunny.
B
It was really quite.
A
Quite.
B
Quite.
A
It's not even Wesley Webbit. It's something.
B
It's.
A
I'm crying.
B
I don't know why that's so funny. You won't regret. Regret it. We credit.
A
Oh, my God.
B
We've never seen this final cuts of any of this. So that in real time made me crap. I might crap. I said, as soon as it's a.
A
Onesie, you are in. Tough luck with the onesie. Oh, my God, I'm sweating.
B
I meant to say I crack up. I don't crap, I promise you.
A
Maybe I do.
B
I don't know. I found myself as I was watching it, wiping my tears at the same time that I was wiping my tears.
A
In the blooper reel.
B
It was like, on point. Oh, my God. Oh, that's funny.
A
Literally.
B
Okay. Oh, good. So good.
A
I mean, who knew that we could have a blooper watching the blooper reel?
B
I can't get up together. That was really great. Oh, God.
A
So great. That was.
B
Oh, jeez.
A
Okay.
B
Oh, that was good.
A
I am. I'm full body sweating right now.
B
I'm sweating in my. In my felty.
A
Okay. By the way, I couldn't think of it then, but it. It was Elmer Fudd, who always called Bugs Waskawi Wabbit. Wait, questions. Okay. Quake.
B
Quap.
A
I just can't. Okay, next up, you guys, we are gonna pull the curtain back just a little. And I know you all probably think we just show up and create perfect magic here every time, but, well, let me tell you, it's not always smooth sailing. And as much as we wish we were neighbors who could just run over to the other's house to record, that is not our reality. Between LA freeway schedules and Billie Jean holding it down back east, we have to record. Welcome to the party online. And you party people probably know this, not all Internet connections are created equal. Sometimes the sound cuts out, sometimes the screen freezes. Sometimes someone is talking and no one else can hear them for a very long time. So this blooper episode wouldn't be right without some of our favorite technical mishaps. Enjoy.
B
Are you there? My WI Fi is not happy today.
A
Sorry, My lights. We just got our offices redone, and.
B
I don't know how.
A
Yeah, I'm like, how did I get these back?
B
It keeps. You guys keep going in and out with me when I'm watching. What happened?
A
Well, I'm gonna get him back on real quick. So I have somebody coming in to do that.
B
I'm laughing out loud. I muted my thing. I was laughing so hard. Can you hear me? I'm showing a black Abby screen. Oh, yeah. I got two Abby's.
A
Sorry about that. There we go.
B
Forget the X's and O's and really hone in on what are we teaching these kids. Did we just lose Abby?
A
I can hear you.
B
I was so deep into telling you my. My hope for humanity and coaches. I mean, that was my greatest I had. Then I was like, wait, Abby's gone. We're gonna keep that in. That's so good.
A
Oh, the tech. I swear, if we could. If we could fix one thing, it would be the tech of this show. It's hard.
B
The Internet. We'd fix the Internet.
A
Yeah.
B
But we. You know, and especially when you're on the road, it's a little. It's a little wonky, but we're all about turning lemons into lemonade.
A
Julie. So you know that traveling with family is always. How do I say this? An adventure.
B
Interesting.
A
Yeah. The packing, the snacks, the Are we there yet? Chorus in the backseat. I mean, nostalgia at its finest. We don't call it vacation when we travel with our children, we call it a trip. So last summer, we booked this house in Coeur d' Alene through Airbnb for our summer little getaway. And it was this incredible, cozy place on the mountainside overlooking the lake.
B
I've never been to Coeur d'. Alene. I want to go so bad.
A
It's gorgeous. You have to go. I had this incredible yard, the kitchen. And, like, what we do in our family is, like, the kitchen is the centerpiece. The food is, like, the most important thing in our family. And this kitchen was perfect. This place was perfect for the slowdown of our crazy life right now, which we very much. I feel like I needed to book a getaway stay every month just so that I can de. Stress decompress. We. We all love to get away and new places and new memories, but it also feels like a little strange leaving our home just sitting there empty. So there's this thing. You could ask a friend to stay or swap places, but there's an even better option where. Where Airbnb is allowing you to host your home. On Airbnb, you can, like, make some money while you're away spending some pay for your vacation.
B
Exactly.
A
That way, you'll often make more memories with your family or friends while your home's working for you. I mean, just think about it every time you're spending money out there, going to dinner, doing whatever, you know that you got some money coming in.
B
Yeah. But the one thing is, I thought, oh, my gosh, that's a lot of work to get my home ready.
A
But, yeah, it's just easier than ever though now because the Airbnb's co host network, Jules, they will take care of everything. You can team up with, like, a local co host, which is really awesome. They handle all the details, basically creating your listing, they messaged your guests, they manage the reservations, which can be kind of a lot. If the guests have questions, they even help with, like, the design touches. If. If you need it, they're right there.
B
Your home up? Yes, please.
A
They're there. They're in your area. So you can relax knowing everything is taken care of back home. So essentially, if you want to put your. Your house on Airbnb, you can also find a co host@airbnb.com host. They'll take care of everything.
B
All right, Abs, moving on, a quick note to our audio only podcast listeners that you probably should switch over to YouTube right now if you can, because this section is a lot funnier. If you can see it, it's all about. And if you can't, don't worry. Like, use your imagination because it's all about physical moments. So literally, like, objects are falling. The timing, the gravity, it all teams up against us. And if you're audio only, just, like, imagine me fighting my whiteboard, which I do a lot, Abs, getting attacked by headphones and cameras crashing down on a peloton. That's all. Here we go. I don't know if you can see that, Rebecca.
A
It's really not good.
B
I was like, I don't know if you can see it, but we'll put it up there.
A
Sorry, Sorry.
B
I gotta flash my board. I don't know what's wrong with my setup today.
A
Okay, Here we go. 3, 2, 1.
B
What's your speed? What I'm telling you. Oh, I lost the camera. Let me get rid of my microphone. And maybe when we go into a wide. Ay yai yai. That is the most important. I just stabbed myself in the eye. This is what I look like on the plane. FYI. Bye.
A
Bye.
B
Oh, gosh.
A
I love us.
B
That's why I went to this whiteboard, by the way, immediately after that Rebecca Love segment when I was, like, trying to get. I was like, why don't I just get a smaller whiteboard and I can flip it if I want. Oh, cute.
A
I Love all these, like, weird things that happen that the people don't necessarily see, but it's still. I. I just. I love doing this because, I don't know, you just want to have fun, and so do I. And that's where, like, that was my favorite part about being an athlete. It wasn't even, like, necessarily the on the field stuff. It was like in the locker room, on the bus rides, in the meal rooms. It was, you know, all these weird things that we got into that made it really the most joyful thing.
B
I just started laughing again at my crap line. I was like. All I was trying to say, I was cracking, not crack up. Oh, shoot. I think I would have won that challenge honestly, too, if that camera hadn't fallen. Abs.
A
I'm just saying. And they're fighting words. Definitely don't think you really could have, but that's fine.
B
No, on the peloton. That was my camera falling on the peloton. You might have seen that on Social.
A
So good. Okay, so now for some of our very all time favorite and funniest moments. This is the stuff, I think, that reminds us of why we love doing the show and why we're so grateful for you party people, that you're on this ride with us. You're sitting shotgun with us through. Through the ridiculousness.
B
I don't like my hair today. Wait a minute.
A
What's up?
B
What's up? Wttp. Wttp, wttp. Let's go. Welcome to the party. Here you go. Party, party.
A
I'm ready.
B
Let's party.
A
Party has not stopped. The party hasn't stopped. Yeah, I know.
B
This morning I woke up and I was like, what I would get for a big donut. Bigger than my head.
A
Ali Truitt, everybody. Ali Truett. She's just badass.
B
She's great. Badass.
A
I just want to thank the one fan who had the guts to say, you kind of stuck, Stink kinger.
B
Welcome to your birthday party, Billy.
A
I'm in a dress.
B
Yeah, show the dress.
A
I'm in a tennis dress. There we go. This is. Let's go, folks.
B
I don't. That. That looks like I'm flipping everyone off.
A
A little bit, but okay, maybe it means let's go.
B
You take that ball and you ride ball and you run. You run. I feel like that might be a good porn star name.
A
Oh, God. Maybe.
B
I don't know.
A
Fast forward a couple of weeks.
B
Shockingly.
A
Yeah.
B
This girl, Alex Morgan.
A
How did you say my name?
B
How do you f up Morgan? I don't Know where do you guys all meet? Do you meet online? Do you meet in person? Like, are you meeting tomorrow?
A
The very worst dance you've ever danced, but the best one of them.
B
The best of your worst. Let's see it. It's got to be a chair dance, because that's all we can see. I can't stand up. I don't have pants on today. Billy. I don't have pants on. I have shorts on. No, I can't get up.
A
Hello. Oh, here she is.
B
Oh, she made. There she is.
A
Coach, it's Abby.
B
Where the hell have you been? Put the pedal to the metal. You got to turn your treadmill up. Yes. That's the one I wanted. Boom. Every party has a pooper. That's why we invited you. Party pooper. You wanted to be part of the party? As part of the party. Of course I want to be part of this party.
A
It's just been such a joy to be able to do this with you two. It has brought me back to life.
B
It was crazy that, like, the universe brought the three of us together. It was meant to be.
A
We have only just begun.
B
Go on, abs. Cause I'm on delay.
A
Okay. USA on three. One, two, three.
B
Usa.
A
Usa. Usa. Usa.
B
And now Julie goes.
A
She signed so much a delay. We gotta keep that delay. Jack, it's so funny. You did it like. Like, I finished and I go. And now Julie will go and you win.
B
Damn Internet issues. Oh, that's so good. Well done, J. Our editor putting all that together. That is so good. I know. I hope you guys can actually watch that. You can watch it on Spotify as well now on video form, so see it, because it's really funny.
A
I know. And you know, Jules, I would be remiss if I didn't talk about how much I love our little team that gets this podcast up twice a week. It's a heavy lift for a lot of people. I want to thank Jack. I want to thank Asia. I want to thank Jen, Monique, Taylor, Emily. I want to thank Billie Jean and Josh from. And Alana from the Billie Jean King side of things. I want to thank Cece and Mark and Jared from Natively, our ad folks. There's a lot of people that do work on this show that make it possible. And also, Jules, I want to thank you because there's a lot of this that has brought me back to life, and I just feel like you are the exact right person that I wanted to step back into the women's sports space with just the joy that you bring and you are endlessly in the docks and making the, the interviews and, and, and the outlines better. And I just am really grateful that you just made, you just made this so fulfilling to me, and it's giving me, it's brought me back into, like, home in a way. And I just wanted to say thank you so much. You're just, you're the best.
B
I, I, I think the same of you. I, I often say to my family, like, this is so fun that I don't even consider it work. It's just, it's joyful. It's, it's laughing. You can see it in all the stuff we're doing. And every week, we get to talk to, like, the people at the forefront of what's happening in women's sports. And how cool is that, like, to be able to call that, you know, your job of, like, I get to sit down with some of the most amazing coaches and athletes and humans who are in this space in the middle of it all. And what we're, you know, is a really exciting time for women's sports, like, and laugh through it and have fun and learn and grow and all those things which I value so much. So I want to thank you for, for saying, hey, do you want to do a woman's sports podcast? Yes.
A
Yeah.
B
As I'm sitting next to Kinger, that's what they showed in there. Yes. The universe was bringing us together. Yeah. And I think, too, Abs, the other thing that we talk about all the time is the party people, the, the listeners in the comments. And we want to thank y' all for being part of the community, because that's really the reason why we do this, is we want to build out that community even, even larger. And what I love about this community is, you hear in the comments, like, some people who say, I've been following sports for, and I'm still learning new things. But then you also have in the comments people who say, I haven't really followed that much of women's sports before, and now I'm listening, you know, twice a week to your podcast. And I'm learning, and I, I'm excited to watch volleyball or I'm excited to watch softball or whatever it is we're talking about. And that's what I love as well, is that we're making the circle bigger. The nest is growing, as we say. So I think that's really important as well, that we're inviting all to the party.
A
And, you know, from, from our homes to yours, wherever you are, we hope that you and your family have the best holiday season. You know, we need. We all need people in this life and we all need a community. And I just feel grateful to be doing this with you, with you, Jules, and the party people, because it's the party people that are going to keep making this happen, right? Like, if you guys listen to us, we will keep doing this, right? And women's sports is going to keep going. And I want to keep doing this for as long as we can. So I just. I'm so grateful to the party people for showing up and for. For you, Jules, and our little team. I just think it's. I just feel real cozy and warm about us right now.
B
Yeah. And there's Kinger right there over my shoulder. She sits on my shoulder as my good angel. See it right there. So I know she. She would want to thank you as well. And when you think about community, we, as you say, we need people in our life. So as we're here for the holidays, you know, and you're around, hopefully a lot of friends and family, I. I think it's important. I think of this all the time. Like, this is your moment. Even if you don't get along with all of your family at the current moment, right? Like, hug your family, tell them how much and how important they are in your life. Hug your friends. Because rule number one on the pod is always, we will have a ton of fun. We know that. We just saw that. Rule number two is for the party people is take good care of each other.
A
And also, guys, don't forget to subscribe to welcome to the party YouTube channel. So you can actually watch the party. Just go to the YouTube and click the little bell icon so you can get. Get updates whenever new episodes. Episodes go live, right?

A
We're so close.

And she's amazing. So I think, Abs, we should close it out with a on point, not cheer because we do get a lot of comments about how we're a little bit off on our timing and we show that with the delay, sometimes there's a delay. Party people. So I'm just.
A
Saying. I figure. I think I figured it out. Jules, if you do it, if you do the count in, I am usually better at syncing up than you.
B
Are.
A
Okay? I.
B
Swear. Okay, So I do the count in. And this is wherever you are on a walk, right in the car. Just shout it out as loud as you can with us. You are doing this cheer with us. I want, like, neighbors to hear you wherever you are from, from shouting it out on three. One, two, three. Was it.
