Bailey and the gang have had a massive year. We get the chance to learn all about their adventures over the past few years, talk about Bailey's journey going full time as a musician, the way that the newly formed band has influenced Jordan and Bailey's musical direction and talk about the important role Cornwall and it's community has played in their lives. Boardmasters 2025 was a year to remember. The sun was shining down on a stunning Watergate Bay as a stacked lineup, ranging from some of the UK’s biggest new acts to local Cornish favourites, brought the party to Newquay at this year’s festival. In this episode, we start off at The View stage where we chat with rising star, Jack Dean. We talk about this smash hit Church in the Morning and his journey as a singer and the value he has had in professional vocal coaching. We then chat with another South West phenomenon Polly Money about her EP, the contrast between London and Cornwall, and the advice she would give to new artists starting out. From anthemic singalong pop to tradition dance music, we sit down with Bagas Fellyon to talk about Nos Lowen and the vast history of traditional Cornish music, as well as how bands like Bagas Fellyon are keeping the traditional dance alive! We then continue the theme of dancing and learn all about Malka, and how her roots in Spain and the South West have influenced and shaped her upbeat sound. We finish off with a catch with fellow photographer and music reviewer Steve from Musomuso. She touches on her successes and struggles with social media, finding her voice as an artist and the impact of Cornwall on her music. We then stay at The View stage and chat to the legends Sports Team about what makes their show unique, and all of the crazy ways they've found of getting the crowd involved. And we finish off with The Other Woman Band, new rising stars from in and around Plymouth. We talk about how Livewire and similar communities have helped them and other bands build their careers, as well as what it means for them to be an all female band in the South West scene. We learn more about the operation of running sound at a festival like Great Estate, and all the exciting things Millstone gets up to over the summer! We then jump over to the secret Gin garden stage, where we have a chat with Kitty Crocker, a musician who’s been causing a real stir with her impactful songwriting and stellar performances. We learn more about what goes into her songwriting process and how she crafts such incredible music. We then head back over to the Cornwall Shop Small tent, where we meet Kareni and learn about her work at Kelpi Studio, a studio all about telling the stories of nature. Finally, we get the pleasure of sitting down with Petrea. After playing three sets at the festival, the bands talk about the wild journey they’ve been on to get to Great Estate 2025, as well as what’s in store for the Falmouth rising stars.
