Show Notes:A few weeks ago, I sat down with one of the co-owners of the Twisted Spine, Jason Mellow. Twisted Spine is New York City’s first book store for exclusively horror and dark literature. Jason told me about his first experience seeing a horror movie in theatres when he was 7 years old and how it scared him. He then ended up first getting into horror literature and realized that he was a horror fan. Later on we get into how he and his partner Lauren got the idea to open The Twisted Spine, how they designed the store, and how they went about deciding what authors to stock on the shelves and so much more. Show Notes:On this week’s episode of Who’s There, I had the privilege of speaking with the writer and director behind a new movie called HOKUM, Damien McCarthy. HOKUM is out in theatres everywhere on May 1st and I can’t recommend it enough.Damien told me what it was like growing up with a horror loving father who owned a video rental store in Ireland, the horror directors he looks to for inspiration while on set, and what he includes and what he leaves out when he’s writing a new script. Show Notes:This week I am sharing a conversation with the co-writers and co-directors of an indie horror film called It Needs Eyes, Aaron Pagniano and Zack Ogle. It Needs Eyes is about what happens when a troubled teen moves to her aunt's coastal house, where she escapes into dark corners of the internet and her fixation on a mysterious missing woman's videos leads to disturbing discoveries about the digital underworld and her own secrets. It is a very jarring and disturbing movie that I really enjoyed watching. Zack and Aaron told me how they fell in love with horror, what kinds of horror still scares them, and why they love the subgenre of horror movies about women who are right but everyone thinks they’re crazy.
