Here's your morning TNB Tech Minute for Tuesday, March 3rd. I'm Danny Lewis for the Wall Street Journal. We exclusively report that IR Labs, a decade old chip company backed by Nvidia and Advanced Micro devices, has raised $500 million in a funding round that values 3.8 billion. The company is trying to revolutionize the way semiconductors are connected inside server racks by replacing copper interconnections with fiber optics. The technology could make advanced artificial intelligence chips as much as 20 times more efficient, but it has been slow to develop due to thermal problems and the need for precision manufacturing. Activist investor Elliott Investment management has injected $1 billion into Pinterest. The social media company will use the funds to accelerate a $3.5 billion share buyback program as it invests in AI. Pinterest is seeking to boost its revenue by helping users find and purchase products in the images they pin. Last month, the company projected slowing revenue growth in the first quarter as large retailers pull back on advertising spending. And Ziff Davis has struck a $1.2 billion cash deal to sell its connectivity division to Accenture. That includes brands such as Ookla, Sega Speed Test and Down detector, which generated $231 million in revenue last year, about 16% of Ziff Davis total revenue. Accenture says acquiring the division will help it offer end to end network intelligence services for AI based transformations. And that's your TNB Tech Minute. We'll be back this afternoon with more.
