Here's your TNB Tech minute for Thursday, September 4th. I'm Anthony Banci for the Wall Street Journal. Amazon's satellite Internet business has reeled in its first airline customer, JetBlue. The carrier has agreed to use Amazon's Project Kuiper to provide WI FI service for a quarter of its fleet, with some passengers gaining access to the service beginning in 2027. Kuiper is pushing to sell future capacity on its own network, but so far the unit is behind Starlink, the service operated by Elon Musk's Power in another tech deal we report exclusively that San Francisco's startup Turbine One has inked an almost $99 million contract with the US Army. The company's software helps soldiers identify threats and decide how to respond without a cloud connection. The army aims to process data 10 to 25 times faster than adversaries. Plus another exclusive the FTC plans to study AI chatbots impact on children's mental health and request documents from OpenAI. Meta and Character A are concerned about the unintended consequences of AI following reports of teen suicides after forming relationships with chatbots. And France's data protection authority has fined Alphabet's Google and Shein a total of 475 million euros, or nearly $554 million. Google was fined for not obtaining consent from users for ads in Gmail and for not properly informing users about cookie tracking. Meanwhile, Shein was fined for placing advertising cookies on users devices without consent. Google said it's review the decision and Sheen is planning to appeal. And that's your TNB Tech Minute.
