Learn more@WhatsApp.com here's your morning TNB Tech Minute for Wednesday, October 1st. I'm Julie Chang for the Wall Street Journal. Meta will start using users conversations with its artificial intelligence chatbot to help personalize ads and content. So, for example, if users ask the Chatbot for nearby hiking recommendations, they might start seeing ads on Instagram and Facebook for hiking boots or other gear, as well as hiking related content from creators in feed. The policy will go into effect mid December and people won't be able to opt out, but Meta says conversations involving religious or political views, sexual orientation, health and racial or ethnic origin will be automatically excluded. Stellantis and Mistral are expanding their partnership to speed up AI adoption across the automaker's operations. The two companies have spent the past 18 months working to develop advanced AI solutions and integrate Mistral's models into a range of use, including in car assistance features. Stellantis said today they will now work on embedding generative AI directly into Stellantis core operations, and two new teams will be created to scale AI adoption across the carmaker from sales to production. And automakers more broadly are bracing for a plunge in electric vehicle sales after a $7,500 US tax credit expired yesterday. Ford's CEO says the EV market share will fall by more than half to 5% of total sales by the end of the year. Meanwhile, the chairman of Nissan's Americas region said October should be the worst market in years for EVs. Latest data from Cox Automotive shows dealers have about 134,000 unsold EVs. A GM spokesman said the company is working with dealers on a way to extend the $7,500 credit for leases. And Ford said it's working to provide EV shoppers with competitive lease payments through its finance arm until the end of the year. And that's your TNV Tech Minute.
