here's your T and B Tech minute for Tuesday, March 17th. I'm Danny Lewis for the Wall Street Journal. We exclusively report that OpenAI is finalizing plans to refocus the company around coding and business users, according to remarks reviewed by the Journal. During a recent all hands meeting, OpenAI's CEO of Applications told employees to focus on business productivity. That's an area where the ChatGPT maker is under pressure from rival Anthropic, which has become the dominant AI provider for businesses thanks to its Claude Code and cowork products. News Corp. Owner of the Wall Street Journal, has a content licensing partnership with OpenAI. Amazon is rolling out one hour and three hour delivery services across the US as it moves to fend off growing competition from Walmart. The e commerce giant says that as of today, one hour delivery is now available in hundreds of locations and that three hour delivery is available in over 2,000 locations. The fast delivery options will let customers shop for household essentials, health and beauty items and over the counter medications. Last month, Amazon surpassed Walmart as the country's largest company by annual revenue and Alibaba has formed a new unit overseeing all of its artificial intelligence businesses. The consolidated group, called Alibaba Token Hub, is made up of the tech giant's AI Model Research team, its AI Assistant unit, a group focused on building an AI native platform for businesses, and its AI Innovation unit. The move comes as Alibaba seeks to solidify its position in the global AI race as it ramps up efforts to integrate its models with its retail and service platforms.
