OpenAI has unveiled plans for a vast one trillion dollar build out of computing warehouses across the US and abroad, including a Central park sized complex outside of Dallas. Construction on the eight data centers that'll make up the complex requires more than 6,000 workers labor a day from elect to plumbers and steel welders. Other confirmed locations include a site north of El Paso and New Mexico, a yet to be announced Midwest location, and two smaller sites in Lordstown, Ohio and outside of Austin, Texas. Lithium Americas is in talks with the US Department of Energy and General Motors over the terms of its $2.26 billion government loan for its large lithium project in Nevada. Lithium Americas was awarded the loan under the Advanced Technology Vehicles Manufacturing Program to build out the processing FAC at Thacker Pass, one of the largest known lithium deposits in the U.S. the negotiations come after reports that the U.S. government is considering taking up to a 10% equity stake in the company. And Alibaba shares jumped today after the company said it would invest more than $53 billion in artificial intelligence above its original target. The Chinese tech titans rally helped it more than double gains so far this year, with its stock at its highest level in four years. Adding to the market buzz was Alibaba's release of a new AI model, the Qin 3 Max, which it described as its largest and most capable large language model yet. That's your TNB Tech Minute.
