Here'S your morning TNB Tech minute for Tuesday, October 14th. I'm Zoe Culkin for the Wall Street Journal. Advanced Micro Devices is partnering with Oracle to bring online a large data center cluster that that uses tens of thousands of AMD's new AI chips and the equivalent of 200 megawatts of computing power. Starting in the third quarter of 2026, AMD plans to deploy 50,000 of its most advanced GPUs yet, the Mi 450 chip inside data centers run by Oracle. The companies didn't disclose the financial terms of the deal, but said they plan to expand their partnership in 2027 and beyond. In other AI news, Google said it will invest around $15 billion in India over the next five years, its largest investment there to date, to establish its first AI hub in the country. The hub will feature a data center campus, adding gigawatt scale compute capacity to help meet growing demand for digital services in India and beyond. The investment will also fund the construction of a new international subsea gateway, including multiple international subsea cables. This announcement comes just one day after Google unveiled plans to invest $9 billion by 2027 to expand its existing data center campus in South Carolina, as well as support the ongoing construction of two new sites. And General Motors said it's reducing its EV manufacturing capacity and is taking a $1.6 billion charge as demand for electric vehicles sinks, largely due to the end of government subsidies and regulatory mandates that originally fueled EV growth. The company said $1.2 billion of the charge is related to adjustments in its EV capacity, and the remaining is for fees tied to contract cancellations and other charges related to commercial settlements. That's your TNB Tech Minute. Join us again this afternoon for more.
