Here'S your morning TNB Tech Minute for Monday, August 25th. I'm Anthony Banci for the Wall Street Journal. We exclusively report that Silicon Valley is putting more than $100 million in pro AI political action committees and organizations. The venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz and OpenAI President Greg Brockman are among those helping to launch and fund Leading the Future. The PAC hopes to use campaign donations and digital ads to advocate for AI policies and oppose candidates who the group believes will stifle the industry at large. Plus, PDD holdings, the Chinese owner of bargain shopping app Temu, reported a smaller than expected profit decline in the second quarter. That's despite revenue growth hitting a three and a half year low as tariffs and increased support for domestic merchants weighed on profitability. Revenue narrowly missed expectations, rising 7.1% to nearly 104 billion yuan and its slowest pace of growth since the fourth quarter of 2021. PDD also warned of continued pressure on results in the near future. And the prospect of lower interest rates is boosting some sectors of the market real estate, banks and manufacturers. But the outlook for the magnificent seven tech giants has been much less clear. Investors are growing more cautious about tech stocks due to stretched valuations, AI doubts and and competition from other market sectors. Nvidia's earnings later this week will be a key test for the world's most valuable listed company. What investors learn there could be key to future gains. That's your T and B Tech Minute. Join us again this afternoon for more.
