Here's your afternoon TNB Tech minute for Tuesday, February 17th. I'm Julie Chang for the Wall Street Journal. Spain's government has requested prosecutors investigate x Meta and TikTok over alleged AI generated child pornography. Government minister said today that some 3 million AI generated nude images, including depictions of minors, had proliferated online in just under two weeks. The country's prime minister announced the call for an investigation in a post on X Meta said it couldn't comment on the investigation, but said it takes an extremely strong stance against non consensual intimate imagery and removes it when detected. X and TikTok did not respond to requests for comment, but X previously said it restricted image generation by its Grok AI chatbot after sexualized deepfakes appeared. TikTok's website says it doesn't allow content that shows, promotes or facilitates the sexual abuse, exploitation or harm of young people. Eric Trump is pouring money into drones, a sector that is a growing focus for the Pentagon. The president's son is investing in Israeli drone maker Extend as part of a $1.5 billion deal to take the company public through a merger with a small Florida construction company called JFB Construction Extend markets some of its drones as quot quote low cost per kill munitions. The company said it has already secured a multi million dollar Pentagon contract and physical AI could become a trillion dollar industry less than a decade from now. That's according to Barclays analysts in a note. They say the market, which includes humanoid robots, autonomous vehicles, industrial automation and drones, could reach between 0.5 to $1.4 trillion by 2035, depending on adoption. Autonomous vehicles drive nearly half of the growth so far. China leads both robot deployment and industrial robot adoption, according to the analysts. Of the roughly 15,000 new humanoid robot installations in 2025, China accounted for more than 85%. Meanwhile the US accounted for 13%. That's it for your TMB Tech minutes. We'll have another quick tech update in the morning.
