Here's your morning TNB Tech minute for Wednesday, November 26th. I'm Julie Chang for the Wall Street Journal. Tesla will roughly double the number of its robo taxis in Texas next month. That's according to a post on X today by CEO Elon Musk. Tesla the move comes less than six months after the company launched the service. Tesla began its self driving taxi service in Austin in June with safety drivers. The company aims to remove safety drivers in parts of Austin as well as operate robo taxis in eight to 10 metro areas by the end of the year. Italy's competition regulator has expanded its probe into WhatsApp owner meta platforms over its AI chatbot policy. The watchdog said it's now scrutinizing a policy WhatsApp introduced in October, excluding rival chatbots from its messaging service and the company's integration of its own AI features into the messaging platform. The authorities said WhatsApp's policy change could limit production, market access or technical developments in the AI chatbot services market. It added that Meta may be breaching European Union rules that seek to prevent dominant companies from abusing their position in the market. A spokesperson for Meta said it strongly rejects the regulator's claims. And in markets, the tech stock market is shifting, causing investors to change their bets on which AI companies will succeed. As we reported yesterday, Meta is in talks with Google to use the company's AI chips. This potential deal could challenge Nvidia's leading position in the chip market. Nvidia stock, long considered the top choice in the AI trade, has faced pressure. In contrast, Google parent Alphabet stock has climbed, bringing it closer to a $4 trillion valuation. Alphabet shares rose in pre market trading while shares of Nvidia and rival chip maker AMD fell. That's your TNB Tech Minute. Join us again this afternoon for more.
