Here's your morning TNB Tech minute for Friday, July 11th. I'm Julie Chang. For the Wall Street Journal, Volkswagen and its Chinese partner Psych, will close their joint manufacturing plant in Nanjing, China. The move is part of a restructuring plan focused on producing electric intelligent connected vehicles, known as ICVs. A spokesperson for the German automaker said production at the Nanjing plant has already stopped. Volkswagen's investment in ICVs in China is part of its In China for China strategy, which seeks to produce vehicles tailored to Chinese customers. Plus, Autodesk is looking into acquiring rival software firm PTC Oppenheimer. Analysts said in a note that if it happens, the move should position the company better as artificial intelligence becomes more common in design. They said such a deal would add product lifecycle management software to Autodesk's portfolio, which the company could cross sell into its large install base. And bitcoin's bull run continues. The cryptocurrency rose over $118,000 today, according to Coindesk data. That's a new intraday high for a third straight day. A range of factors have boosted the digital token this the crypto friendly stance of the Trump administration and a growing number of corporations stockpiling bitcoin. Before we go, a reminder that we're on a new schedule starting this week. We'll have another Tech minute for you this afternoon, with full TNB episodes in the feed early on Tuesdays and Fridays.
