David Nuno
Well, what's the story, morning glory?
OB
Is there a story?
David Nuno
No, the story is this is the last Friday, I think, without like kind of. Kind of news. Like real news. Like football. Like a M. Football news.
OB
Do you hear they're betting on their own games in the wnba?
David Nuno
Pardon?
OB
What? Did you see that? No. Angel Reese. Who misses the most shots? Yeah. Really? Angel Reese and another player. I don't even.
David Nuno
They got caught.
OB
No, no, listen. They not real. This is real.
David Nuno
Oh, gosh.
OB
This.
David Nuno
Google this.
OB
They, they. They made a video of themselves talking about how they bet on their own game. And the WNBA website actually put it out. Like, like, hey, look. And then they were like, that's illegal. And they. The WNBA came out. Is WNBA the biggest trash league and the biggest farce in sports ever? I think so, yeah.
David Nuno
I. Not because it's dryer everybody. Not because it's females. Okay. Because I like watching women's soccer. Okay. But there's. There's some issues in the WNBA for sure. I mean, when you make a compilation video of their all star game of shots that people missed. But some of them are like, some are fantastic to watch. I just don't. I just don't care.
OB
Like they have one star and that star gets, you know, consistently cheap shotted. And you know, they don't call. Make the calls and the. It's just a. And you know, they never make money. You know, the league itself has never made money and the players are always saying, well, we need to get paid what we're worth. You're not worth anything. Your league makes no money. You should be paying them to let you play.
David Nuno
So here's the headline from NBC. Sorry, ob WNBA deletes video of Page Bukers, Beckers Buchers and angel Reese betting $400 on a game.
OB
Right. I heard it was their own game, but that's.
David Nuno
It just says on the headline. I'm sure it is betting each other on game. Yeah.
OB
And we just had the thing in college football. Brandon Sorsby. Yeah. And. Oh well, anyway, so that's the news.
David Nuno
I will do more research on the topic before I start giving hot sports takes. But why even look good?
OB
Doesn't look good.
David Nuno
It does not look good, obi. So as I was saying, this is the last Friday before we get to like, you know, like next Friday we will have I think two practices in the can at least. And by the way, it's not like that's exist exhilarating radio talking about practice.
Kaylee Dreyer
Right?
OB
We talk about practice.
David Nuno
Practice. Thank you, AI. But at least there's hey, man, I saw Mark Naboo looking great. He's looking like a leader. Oh. Oh, my gosh.
OB
Mark. Yeah.
David Nuno
Making tackles left and right. Like, at least we'll have that. Ooh. You know.
OB
Will we? Are we going to be out there to see that part?
David Nuno
We'll see. Yeah. A little bit.
OB
Yeah. All right.
David Nuno
The one thing I noticed at least the first couple days, the practice, you won't be around, but the practices will be late. Like, I think like dryer. Am I right? Like 6:45 starts, 6:45, 7:45, and they
Kaylee Dreyer
end at like 9.
Unidentified Male (possibly a caller or guest)
Yeah.
David Nuno
Which means 15 minutes of practice for David Nuno. I'm kidding. 12 minutes. Anyway, at least we get.
OB
See, that's why I need to have an intern.
David Nuno
Why is that?
OB
Well, you know, I need to be. I'm usually in bed around 9 o'. Clock. But see, I. Dan, you know what you do with the interns? You make them do what you don't want to do.
David Nuno
Thousand percent.
OB
Ask them, why don't I have everybody? Other people has interns.
David Nuno
Okay, well, let's go over what OB's interns would do for you.
OB
Why do I ever have an intern?
David Nuno
I mean, just ask for one. Just go to the meetings.
OB
What? There's meetings?
Nick Savage
Yes.
OB
Sometimes you come.
David Nuno
So what would you like your intern to do? I'd be very curious.
OB
Well, again, everything I don't want to do, which was basically I want transcribe. Oh, yeah, yeah. Transcribe the quotes. Yeah. What else?
David Nuno
Carry your bag around.
OB
Yeah. If I haven't during the seasoning that intern can do, the players to watch and the key matchups, because I took on those because Billy didn't want to do it.
David Nuno
So you passed on.
OB
Billy was tired of doing it. Hail and you need to start doing. Yeah, all the things I don't want to do.
David Nuno
In all honesty, I think you should have an intern.
OB
I'm joking.
David Nuno
Our goal with our internships.
OB
It's a joke.
David Nuno
Is to hopefully create opportunities for these folks.
OB
So I don't think anybody wants my job.
David Nuno
Columnists and talk on the air. Yeah, that's a great job.
OB
The writing part. Oh, it's. It's a. It's. You don't see many out there that still want to write, but I do
David Nuno
think people like to consume.
OB
Everybody wants to be on radio or TV and giving a hot take. Yes. I don't see a lot of people out there anymore that want to pursue the journalism. Journalism as a career. Maybe not print journalism, but I do
David Nuno
believe there is an appetite for to read more than there is. Sometimes video, sometimes people are in the office. I don't want to hear what Nuno had to say. I'm gonna just look at some transcriptions.
OB
Yeah. I'll say this. When I see a video that's more than like 15 minutes, I'm out.
David Nuno
I think it depends on like here I go with Brand again. The Brand. I'll watch a Joe Rogan show. Okay. I will watch Andrew Huberman, I'll watch Billy Lucci. Long form interviews. There are certain things that I will Josh Pate. I'll watch, uh, but I'm not watching some of the other folks. Like I'll. I'll take a little minute 30 clip on Twitter and call it a day.
OB
By the way, let me say this real quick.
David Nuno
By the way, we consume all of our stuff.
OB
What a great boss. I'm not, I'm not brown nosing him. Just call it. Billy is because he says, yeah, Olin, I know football practice is starting next week. And I'm said, you know, is it possible I could take a week off a get it spat. It's like a, a preacher saying, you know, I don't want to work on Sunday. Can I take Sunday off? That's the time that we're. And he's. Because I want to help my son move to Phoenix. And he says, yeah, go ahead. We'll make it happen.
David Nuno
I mean, that's the big reason I'm at Texas. Yeah, that's why I came, because of the family atmosphere. All right, enough about that. About life, work, balance and wnba. Well, no, we have a whole hour of that at 10 o'.
Unidentified Male (possibly a caller or guest)
Clock.
David Nuno
You should join us for the fan show.
OB
I'll miss it.
David Nuno
Matt Brownie has requested that we talk about it shows on Friday now because Billy came yesterday. We did the old switcheroo.
OB
Switcheroo.
David Nuno
So one of your favorite topics that I know of is uniform talk on Texas. Operation blackout against Tennessee.
OB
Okay, Tennessee. All right.
David Nuno
You don't care.
OB
You know what's one of the hardest teams to cover is a Tennessee. Oh. As an away team. You know why. Why you just wait till you're trying to pick out those orange creamsicle numbers on a white jersey. Who did that? Who did it? You know, it's, it's almost impossible. Then you have to constantly consult the TV or have the. The. The. What was that telescope that could see like Jupiter? The.
David Nuno
No, the.
OB
Yeah, you got, you know, orange creamsicle numbers on a white jersey. Just does not stand out. At the very least, Tennessee couldn't You put a black outline around the numbers
David Nuno
OB since you won't be here next week.
OB
Okay.
David Nuno
Three things that you want to be told about instead of three things you want to see. Three things you want to read about. See about. About A and M football brought to you by the Brazos Running Company. From running shoes to Aggie pajamas, this Aggie family's got you covered. To visit the Brazos Running Company at Century Square Shop. Mason Haysonhay.com all right, we're running our mouths on this. So three things you would like to see slash read about.
OB
Yeah, I want to hear that. Damian Sanford. This is this miraculous recovery. He's a quick healer. Day one, he's going to be ready. He's going to be ready to play the season opener. Okay, I want to hear that. Am I going to. Probably not. Okay. That offensive line, we've already figured out that that's actually going to be a strength of the team. You know, those guys have already come together. When Cushing gets them out there, Elkos tell us he's saying, you know what? They're together. It's going to be strength of the team. And finally, I want to hear. We figured it out. We figured out all the problems with the misfits. That's not going to be an issue ever again.
David Nuno
Yeah. I don't think you'll go three for three. That that's what we're going to see in week one, but probably over three.
OB
Yeah.
David Nuno
But I. But I hope you're right.
OB
What do you want to see?
David Nuno
What do I want to see?
Nick Savage
All right.
OB
Learn.
David Nuno
I think seeing something from Damian Sanford, I don't know what that something is. Would be great. Like we're talking about want. Obviously he's going to be ready earlier than everybody expected. How early that is, we don't know. But maybe something from him. I would like to see a couple deep throws from Marcel where I'm like, man, that looks pretty. The timing is good. And let's choose something on the defensive side. I. I want to see that defensive line. Cause some issues, which is a bad thing. Because then the offense. I want both. I want it to be like two plays for you, two plays for me.
OB
Yeah. That's. We're getting back to my whole thing about spring games. You know, I don't know what I'm seeing.
David Nuno
What to read into it.
OB
Right. Yeah. Because that meant is that receiver really good and elusive, or does that mean my DB just can't cover?
David Nuno
So you are aware. I know. Because you're a smart man and you've followed Mike Elko's career. He's entering year five as a head coach.
OB
Yeah.
David Nuno
Okay.
OB
To it to Duke.
David Nuno
This will be his third here, third year. So I thought let's talk about what coaches have done over their first five years. And we can go like, historic and we can go recent. Okay.
OB
Okay.
David Nuno
So one of. Well, I mean, obviously, if we're talking recent, Kirby Smart has got to be.
OB
I think he was 8 and 5 in his first year. And then like 10 wins after.
David Nuno
Right.
OB
Nothing but 11 wins or 10 or 11 wins after.
David Nuno
Yeah. So he is. And I don't think. Did he win his championship by his fifth year?
OB
Yeah.
David Nuno
Was it his fifth year? Okay. Because it was 2021, his first one. Right.
OB
Is it six year? Correct. Six. So six years.
David Nuno
Six years. Okay. But he was on his way.
OB
Yeah.
David Nuno
Okay. I'm gonna give you a couple other ones familiar with Jimbo Fisher.
OB
I am.
David Nuno
His first five years are pretty good. Okay. He did pretty good in his first five years. Let's see, in 2010, he went 10 and 4. 2011, 9 and 4. 2012. 12 and 2. 2013, you may remember that year he won a national championship. And then 2014, 13 and 1. So he had a great first five
OB
years at Florida State.
David Nuno
Yeah. And again, sometimes when you follow a legend, it could be really good for you. They left the keys to a brand new Porsche. Right. Like, and you've got it. And that's what I think Jimbo walked into. I think Ryan Day walked into that. There are certain coaches that walked into a great. Maybe Jimbo didn't walk into such a great situation, but Florida State wasn't that far removed, were they, from some heyday?
OB
Oh, no, no, it wasn't that far. They had slipped under Bobby Bowden. And part of it was because everyone knew that Bobby Bowden was getting close to retirement, even though he never retired. I think it was pushed out, but opponents, rivals were using that as negative recruiting and it was affecting. You want to talk about guys that got off to a good five years, you'll go look at guys like Bob Stoops.
David Nuno
Bob Stoops, yeah.
OB
You know, of course, Saban, of course, Urban Meyer.
David Nuno
Lincoln Riley you could put in the mix because of what was left behind. That's why you can't make all these comparisons. Right.
OB
Yeah. Lincoln Riley was given the keys to the Ferrari.
David Nuno
You've got Chris Peterson at Boise State had an excellent five year run. 61 and 5.
OB
And you know what? Mack Brown, if I'm not mistaken, won one game each of his first two seasons at North Carolina. I'm not. I know one game one year. He went like 1 in 11, maybe twice. And they were trying to talk about firing, and the next thing you know, they were consistently winning 10 games in Texas already.
David Nuno
You know who's been really good in his first five years? Dan Lanning. 48 and 8 approaching Year 5 in the near event, but 48 and 8.
OB
48.
David Nuno
Couple playoff berths. Calen DeBoer. Excellent run. 37. 9 in that stretch, entering his fifth season at the FBS level. And then we got Coach Elko, and we know what he's done. And I think you also have to look at what was done before you get there. Right. So if you take over a team that was usually a 10 and 2 type of team, I think the transition's a little easier. I think Coach Elko inherited some really good players for sure, brought in his culture, but he took over a team that went 12 and 12 two years before he got there. Seven and five and five and seven. Right. That's not good. That's why Jimbo got fired.
OB
Right.
David Nuno
And since then, knocking on the door of the SEC championship game the last week of the first season and the second season and also an 111 regular season in year two.
OB
What do you think we'll be saying in three years about the first five years of that guy at Indiana?
David Nuno
We're going to talk about him a little bit. There's a part of me that likes his cockiness, part of me that gets annoyed by it.
OB
I don't mind someone being cocky when they back it up. You know, kind of like you, Dave. I don't talk it up.
Nick Savage
No.
OB
When you're backing it up, you know, with your gym stuff, you know, and, you know, you talk about. Yeah, you know, and I'm in the gym all the time. Go to do this.
David Nuno
Yeah, but that sounds like a poser. People who say it are posers. I'm part of the poser community. Well, again, you compare. If you mean radio community poser in
OB
that, you know you're going to do the. The javelin pose. Yeah. You know. Yeah.
David Nuno
I didn't know that was the name.
OB
I think it's one of. You know, I was a yoga. I did some yoga once. Yeah. One time they said do the javelin poses. What's that?
David Nuno
What are we going to be saying about him? I don't know. What are we going to be saying about Mike Elko? When? After his fifth year at A and
OB
M. Yeah, I think pretty much. I think people are going to be saying A and M. They got the right guy. Finally found their guy. Yeah, finally found their guy. I think they're already saying it.
David Nuno
They are saying it, but I think
OB
we saying it louder and more often.
David Nuno
Yeah, I agree with that. Any other coaches that come to mind,
OB
obi, that had great first five.
David Nuno
Urban Meyer, Bowling Green, Utah and Florida.
OB
Yeah, I mentioned him earlier. Yep. Let me see somebody, you know, Hypo, Tennessee, I don't think. I don't know if he's been there five years, but he's. He's done.
David Nuno
He's done an excellent job.
OB
Nice job for what he.
David Nuno
I think he has been there five years.
OB
You know, Brian Kelly at Notre Dame, his first fight, he had some clunkers in there.
David Nuno
And his time at Cincinnati was pretty good, too.
OB
Yeah.
David Nuno
But Harpaugh Harbaugh at Stanford to start made them relevant. Super relevant.
OB
The biggest. I mean, he was doing really well at Michigan. There was the block punt thing, you know, against Michigan State, that. But for the most part, he was under fire because he couldn't beat Ohio
David Nuno
State when he had San Diego. No, he wasn't at San Diego.
OB
He was.
David Nuno
He was a San Diego State also before.
OB
Not San Diego State, like University of San Diego or something like that.
David Nuno
This Texas live, by the way, we are presented by who?
OB
David Garner's Jewelers.
David Nuno
Thank you very much. We're in the Rollo Insurance. What Studio? Yeah, those are different.
OB
Jason Jackson, Keith Morgan and everybody else.
David Nuno
Yeah, Keith, you too, buddy. And this hour, we call it the
OB
Go hour by the warehouse. CC Creations.
David Nuno
Sorry. Pulling some different ones on you. And if you want to be a part of the conversation, you can do it multiple ways. One way is to call us on the what?
OB
Buppy's Catering and bartending hotline.
David Nuno
979-693-1150. Or you can text that same number. We change the name. Magically, it becomes the what?
OB
The Catalyst Pure Performance Energy Text sign. That's ppe.
David Nuno
Let's go around the room. Let's go left to right. We go behind the glass, through the television. Nick Savage. Who? I'm going to tell you, man, that guy is a ball of sunshine. We both walked into work today, smiled, said, let's go to work.
OB
The most appropriately named person I know, he's a savage.
David Nuno
Hey, Nick.
Nick Savage
Howdy, y'.
David Nuno
All.
Nick Savage
That was very kind of a. Of an intro there, but yeah, David, it's our favorite time of the year, right? Lots to talk about, lots to get into. I don't have much for you, but as you know, Ob I'm a big fan of. Fan of alternate uniforms, the blackout, stuff like that. So I think they're using it on an appropriate game. Let's hope it's not like a South Carolina situation a few years ago. Remember when they. When they rolled out those helmets that were supposed to reflect off the light and it was the Kyler Murray game. So this is like way back. And the. The game got moved to 11am so it was like that. Just totally pointless. But they'll probably get a night game. But yeah, looking forward to it. That's always one of the best environment of the season and it's quickly turning into one of the best, I guess, theme themed games in college football.
OB
Yeah, I think I'm the. I've become the villain for my take on those special jersey.
David Nuno
They don't wear it for you.
OB
They don't. They don't. I don't. I don't want someone. Look, okay, look, I can. I can allow it. Because especially, I mean, you know, I mean, not allow. I can. I can take it. I can accept it. Especially because they've been pretty successful when they go to the black jerseys. But I don't know, I hear them say maroon and white. And all this. The song, you know, so. And all this fight, fight, fight, fight, fight. I think it's white. White. No one says. And sometimes black. Or. I don't maybe. I don't know the whole song.
David Nuno
No, there's a remix.
OB
Okay.
David Nuno
Yeah, there's a remix to it. I don't know how to segue.
OB
Billy Lucci started this whole Texas thing with the Maroon and White Report, not the Maroon and White. And once a year, black report.
David Nuno
Where are we sitting?
OB
The lucid planning Cool zone. Yeah, but sometimes the warm zone. Once a year it's the warm zone.
David Nuno
We like to make money, right?
OB
Yeah, I'd love to make money every day of the year. Not just once a year. Oh, gosh.
David Nuno
Let's go to the Angry Elephant News and Social Center. Kaylee Dreyer making her return to the show.
Kaylee Dreyer
She's in black. Good morning.
OB
Once a year she shows up in black. No, she probably wears black more than that.
Kaylee Dreyer
Yeah, like every day.
David Nuno
What's up?
OB
Every day. She's goth.
David Nuno
He just called you goth.
OB
I just wear black every day.
Kaylee Dreyer
Okay, well, since y' all are talking about the Blackout game, it is against Tennessee. And Tennessee has only played in Kyle Field one time in 2016 when they lost 45 to 38.
OB
That was a crazy game.
David Nuno
Yeah.
OB
And if she just blow them out
David Nuno
and they made it A game?
OB
Yeah, Doing every, oh, travion. Just make sure you got the ball taken care of for you. Cross the goal line. Yeah. Okay.
Kaylee Dreyer
And then in other news, then the Madden 27 video game is coming out and their ratings just came out. Myles Garrett is one of the six NFL players listed in the 99 club, which means he has a 99 overall rating. He is the highest rated edge rusher with Micah Parsons right behind him at 98.
OB
Not surprised.
David Nuno
You miss Micah, don't you?
OB
I wish he was. Did you watch the Cowboys at all last year? I'm like, is anybody is. What is this thing they call a pass rush? I not seen it.
David Nuno
Dryer. Let's do one more.
Kaylee Dreyer
And then going over to the mlb. Last night it was announced that the Minnesota Twins are receiving former Texas A and M left handed pitcher A.J. minter from the New York Mets.
David Nuno
Great stuff. Thank you very much. I saw Richard tweeting about that. We got to get him ready. Got to get A.J. minter ready in the pit. All right, let's talk 1775. Is that today?
OB
Yeah, I'm going today. Yeah, I am. It's Friday, So it's open 11 to sold out.
David Nuno
Until they're closed. Yeah, until they're sold out.
OB
And so again, we leave tomorrow for Phoenix, my son's last day in Texas. Maybe not ever, but for a long time. And he says, hey, I gotta get some Texas barbecue. And I said, you know what? I can get you to the best Texas barbecue there is. Just write down what is the name of that road that goes in front of the airport.
David Nuno
I don't know roads or songs anymore.
OB
I don't know, it's University. It turns into something else. Anyway.
David Nuno
21, 75, 84, 22.
OB
Anyway, you had that. You head down that way like you're going past the airport, like you're going to Snook, but you only go a couple miles over to the left and there's 1775. So say, Quint, what are you gonna have? We were talking about it. You were strategizing last night. And Irma says, well, I'm gonna. Because she's gonna be there if she can get away from work. She says, I'm gonna have that brisket sandwich. I said, I don't blame you. That succulent.
David Nuno
You're getting it too though, right?
OB
I don't know. I might have to do something different. You know, Quinn says he wants the turkey. Of course I'm gonna have the turkey. So I may have to go pork ribs or even the jalapeno. Cheese sausage. But I'll be ordering queso Mac and cheese.
David Nuno
Everybody gets their own.
OB
Everybody gets some queso Mac and cheese.
David Nuno
I think the proper.
OB
I think hot dog Mike's gonna try to meet this.
David Nuno
I think the proper play there is everybody gets one and then you get an extra one. Just in case people haven't had enough.
OB
You just little, yeah, that's a proper play if you're not buying, but I'm buying. So everybody gets one.
David Nuno
Everybody gets one. And everybody's going to get full when they go to 1775. The website 1775 txbbq.com 979-49262 41 it is 1775.
OB
It's good. The money machine. The money machine is open now. Let's go@sony1150.com or you can enter through the Zone newsletter to win $5,000.
Unidentified Male (possibly a caller or guest)
Come on.
David Nuno
There's a lot of hostility. I feel like, check back offices. Like, there's just bickering going on. There's like, like, have you noticed it? People were saying, go give me coffee. Sitting in your chair. Like, my gosh, what are you doing?
OB
That sounds like a typical day with Nuno. Yeah, go get me some coffee. Sit on a chair. What are you doing?
David Nuno
So we got a text.
OB
No, he's not like that.
David Nuno
No, we got a text earlier. It's Paige Beckers. And I should have known that she's very famous and very good. What I was going to say is, while I have some issues, actually, I don't know, like, I don't get into. I don't want to get into the political part of the wnba, but when I worked in the wnba, when I say I worked in it, I worked for the Rockets. And back when I worked for them, they had the Comets. Yeah, okay. Comments were like, the Bulls dynasty.
OB
Yeah.
David Nuno
Super coop, Cynthia Cooper, Kim Karat, Tina Thompson, they were legends. But not in Houston because we didn't win a lot of championships back then.
OB
Probably demand. They're probably bringing in crowds of 2 and 3, 4, 5.
David Nuno
They would fill up the lower bowl.
OB
They would fill up the lower bowl.
David Nuno
Okay, maybe I'd fill it up. But there was a lot of people in the lower bowl. Van Chancellor, that guy was the best.
OB
I wonder how much a season ticket goes.
David Nuno
I don't know. But I really enjoyed watching them. And when I got to watch them, you were watching Night. Cynthia Cooper at that time was ridiculous.
OB
I appreciate women's basketball. I'm not anti women's sports. Like the, like the A and M. Volleyball team.
David Nuno
Yeah.
OB
You know, and I like to go out watch softball. But I do do think if you really pay attention, that's just a horrifically run league. And I agree with always mad at men. And I'm like, this. The guys that is making your league exists.
David Nuno
The commissioner was supposed to do an interview with. She was supposed to go on Dan Patrick and then, like, canceled right before.
OB
Right.
David Nuno
And not that canceling's ever, you know, but it was during that whole controversy when Caitlin Clark was getting fouled or whatever. Remember that whole thing? So anyway, I'm not against it. It doesn't catch my attention. I like women's basketball in college way more than I like the wnba. I like watching women's.
OB
I like the idea. I like the idea of the wnba. I want more people making money, doing what they love to do. Right. But I don't like when you say, well, I should be paid this much just because I play this game. Was it like Griner was saying she could beat DeMarcus Cousins? I'm like, I would. I would take every penny I own and. And bet that. And I think Gino Auriemma said he would, too. I mean, just.
David Nuno
I like Gino a.
OB
Just don't say stupid crap.
David Nuno
Right.
OB
Why can't. And then the whole thing where, you know, they attacked the two young girls at the. You know, yelling at them because they had a. They were supporting the Cunningham because she's like, for the only women. Only biological women in women's sports. And, you know, so the. I guess I was reading about it, the storm. One of the owners attacked on verbally and all this, you know, it's. It's just a joke.
David Nuno
Yeah, I was gonna say.
OB
Oh, that'll make me.
David Nuno
I'm not gonna throw which daughter under the bus, but I got two. Okay. You can probably figure it out. One. They're witches. No, I got two daughters. Got a daughter that's a witch. No, I got two daughters.
OB
You're not gonna throw a witch daughter under the bus.
David Nuno
We'll play it. Okay.
OB
All right.
David Nuno
One of them doesn't want to watch women's soccer, okay? Like, she just doesn't get into it. She's like, I'd rather watch the men. I love watching the US Women's national team. I do. I actually do enjoy watching it. Why are you looking at me like that?
OB
No, I don't have a. I don't have. I would. I. I refused to watch the women's national team, you know, years ago, because they had the purple headed lady that hates America. So I'm not gonna root for her. Do you ever see Bill Burr, the comedian Bill Burr, his take on the WNBA and all in women's sports? Yeah, it's pretty, pretty hilarious. Make a point to see that one.
David Nuno
Well, let's do this. We're past the break, so when we come back, why don't we do 25 and 25? Let's do it. And I'll give you number 21.
OB
Number 21.
David Nuno
And here's my hint, he's an offensive lineman.
OB
It's a pretty good hint.
David Nuno
Pretty good offensive line. All right. Hope we hope it's a pretty good offensive line. And let's talk Rollo Insurance. Now, what insurance matters most? Who's going to answer your call? That's the Rollo Insurance Group. They're right here in College Station, their headquarters on Highway 6. You hear us talk about Jason Jackson, Keith Morgan and all the team there because, well, hello, they're part of the community. They're all over the place. You'll see them at games. They were at PKO the other day. They're great. And what makes them so great is that they're so local. But no matter where you are, there's a Rollo Insurance studio or excuse me, Rollo Insurance branch everywhere. They're all over Texas. 60 offices, Houston, Dallas, you name it, all over the place. But they're not expanding across the nation because they do it the right way. That's the Rollo difference. Call them up. 88844 rollo. That number again. Triple 844 rollo or go to rolloinsurance.com texact that number again. Rollinsurance.com texacts this is your home for ranky football.
OB
Home, road or bowl? It's only 11:50am and 93.6 Marcel Reed here.
David Nuno
And you're listening to the Go Hour with Nuno and OB on Texags Live.
OB
Thank you, Marcel.
David Nuno
Marcel's so great. He was here in the office. In fact, I asked him because we're
OB
talking about the Marco Jones hitting the winning the home run derby. And I said, what if Bucky McMillan said, hey, let's do something with the football players. Let's have a dunk contest or three point shooting. And Marshall said, win them both.
David Nuno
He said he win them both.
OB
He said the only one that might challenge him for the dunk would be Braveon Rogers.
David Nuno
Okay, so I heard he could hoop.
OB
Well, I saw him pictures, video of him playing basketball. Apparently he was star player on his basketball team and his dad said he thought he might go Basketball, but glad he went. Football. Glad he's here. But I wonder which of those linemen or receivers like Horton. I bet you Horton could throw down a dunk.
David Nuno
Oh, Horton for sure can throw it down. You know who could play back in the day. Well, I'm sure you can still play Deuce Fathery. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He played high school at a very
OB
high level at 6, 8, you know, or 6, 7 or 6.
David Nuno
Move like a guard, buddy. 25 and 25 presented by this guy could dump. Yes, he can. Paragon Financial Advisors and Aggie own channel. Stephen McGee.
OB
No, I'm talking about this.
David Nuno
Okay.
OB
20, number 21 on your list. Number one in your heart.
David Nuno
Fee only fiduciary firm serving families, business owners nationwide. Visit paragon-adv.com Number 21 is Pirate Adams. Let's go.
OB
Big, big dude. Good feet. Okay. He transferred, of course, we all know over here from lsu, you know, he didn't play against the Aggies, you know, and I remember before the game called up my contact, the great Scott Rabelais, the sports editor over. He's not sports editor. Anyway. The long time. The longtime LSU reporter from the Baton Rouge Advocate. Because I do that a lot of times before game. Hey, what.
David Nuno
Hey, help me out. Yeah.
OB
And he, he said, well, their best offensive lineman isn't going to be playing in this game. And I said, he's a little bit banged up. I said, well, who's that? Tyree Adams.
David Nuno
So best offensive line. There you go.
OB
That came from the Baton Rouge guy.
David Nuno
Yeah.
OB
So when I heard that he was, you know, maybe coming here, I said, okay, that's, I didn't get to see him play. Sure. But I know a guy that saw him play all the time, said he was, he was LSU's best offensive lineman last year.
David Nuno
So what if, as we're talking about Tyree Adams, what if.
OB
And that was his first year as a starter because he was replacing Will Campbell, the fourth player taken in the previous half.
David Nuno
But what if the offensive line is the strength? Like. Well, that's, I mean, because we, if they're good, what if It's a strength
OB
10 and 2 to start. Yeah, 10 and 2 are better.
David Nuno
And he might be one of the biggest, if not the biggest reasons that they are because if he starts at left tackle, you know, he's, he's got a huge role.
OB
Heck, yeah, he is. Got a huge body, too. What is he but six, seven.
David Nuno
I forgot the new number.
OB
Yeah. Yeah. Just a big dude who's, you know, he was a four star recruit coming out of high school New Orleans. And I think I saw that he was like at that time the number 22, maybe even higher than that rated offensive line prospecting the whole country. And I think he was probably, you know, well underrated. Look again, I never got seen play. I maybe I didn't and didn't realize it as I was watching play Clemson early, but I'm not paying attention to him. But I would have been paying attention to him against A and M because he would have been, you know, probably head up on Cassius Howe.
David Nuno
Yeah.
OB
And that freshman they put in in his place to face who's now at Ole Miss, you know, he was just overmatched. Yeah, sir, that was great. But so it was a great thing for A. And I'm sure A and M would have won the same way. But it would have been a more difficult night for Cassius had that been Tyree Adams across from me.
David Nuno
So here's the question. LSU struggled to run the ball last year. Potentially two LSU starters on A and M's offensive line. If Cohen Echols is another one and he's going to be competing for a spot as Tyree Adams is, they weren't able to run the ball. Can Adam Cushing unlock it? Is it a scheme thing with the whole group, not just those two guys I'm talking about but like. Because I think if you look at the end of last season for A and M with a very good offensive line, there was a lack of a running game or at least to the level that we had gotten used to earlier in the year.
OB
Well, all I can say is I was also told that the. The offensive line coach, his name was Brad Davis, was not great popular at kind of like think, think the way Aggies felt about Steve Adasio.
Nick Savage
Right.
OB
That's how LSU and he wasn't retained. So I mean and he may be a heck of an offensive line coach. Just wasn't happening there. There.
David Nuno
Yeah.
OB
So I am by the way, I think if you have one weak link in an offensive line, it can mess up the whole line. Right. So I'm got a complete open mind about Tyree Adams and Cohen Eccleston, quite frankly all of form being in ball as well. You know, the guys that. So I've got an open mind but I know this. You can say what you want about LSU and you can say what you want about Brian Kelly. They don't recruit bad players right now. Maybe they haven't had. Maybe they had problems develop on them. But I'm going to be. I'm sure, Tyree Adams has all the tools or Elko wouldn't have brought him in. And I'm sure Cushing will get the most out of him. Now, that said, also, let me say this. At our kickoff, I have some friends and, you know, there was a player at almost all the tables and Tyree was at their table and they just gushed about. He's a great personality, young man. He was polite and funny and all those things. So really look forward to seeing Tyree Adams playing for us.
David Nuno
So the Aggies so far through 25 and 25, if you can see there, OB we've got number 25, Lamont Rogers. Number 24, Jordan Shaw. Cornerback 23, Ricky Gibson, Noah McHale. At 22 and 21, Tyree Adams. So you got two offensive linemen, you've got two in the. In the secondary and a linebacker so far. You know, you can read that multiple ways, but the couple of linemen we have, there's no guarantee either one is a starter. You would. Well, you would think one of them is going to be a starter.
OB
That's true.
David Nuno
But both of them are going to
OB
play a lot, I would think. I'm betting on Tyree Adams as a starter. Personally, I don't remember how I voted, but I would on the top 25. But I'm pretty sure I would have had Tyree as my second highest rated offensive lineman.
David Nuno
Yep.
OB
Behind Naboo. Yep. And I put in the book. I've seen him play for A and M. I've seen play.
David Nuno
Well, okay, I know you're going to lunch today at 1775.
OB
1775.
David Nuno
But when's the last time you had a really good burger?
OB
Oh, it's probably about three weeks ago. I remember going to that place over by the movie theater. What's it called?
David Nuno
Bubba's 33.
OB
That's it.
David Nuno
I gotta ask Jess there at bubba's why it's 33. I don't know why the number 33. I'm sure there's a good reason for it, but they got more than 33 things on their menu and burger.
OB
It seems like they got more than 30 things on. On the burger.
David Nuno
Yeah, it's fantastic.
OB
Big burger.
David Nuno
It's a big old burger. The wings are fantastic. I have not had the pizza yet, but I will get the pizza.
OB
I've seen people get it. I haven't had. I always get a burger. The burger's good.
David Nuno
I get a burger and I usually get the wings. So, you know, I haven't had the wings or the wings are Big.
OB
The burger's so good.
David Nuno
I get the burger. Baws. I love big wings.
OB
Big ass wings.
David Nuno
Yeah, I love those too.
OB
Yeah.
David Nuno
By the way, they're having a big event today. July 31st.
OB
Huh? A big ass event.
David Nuno
Let's talk about that big ass event. Burgers for the.
OB
Oh.
David Nuno
Class it up. Burgers for the Brave Parking lot party. Join them for an incredible month of community support for Burgers for the Brave parking lot party. They're gonna announce their final fundraising total for Homes for our troops. Recognize two outstanding local veterans, enjoy live music, shop with local vendors and make one final push to support the amazing cause. Bring the whole family. Kids can enjoy face painting balloon artists while everyone takes part in an evening of great food, entertainment and community. Perfect family outing and a chance to make a lasting difference for our nation's hero. Burgers for the Brave at Bubba's 33.
OB
Love it.
David Nuno
Go check it out. Give it to me.
Unidentified Male (possibly a caller or guest)
Give it to me.
OB
The Louis Polina show.
David Nuno
It's awesome.
OB
Enter Toronto.
David Nuno
That sounds fun and not creepy.
OB
Listen in with weekdays limited, two in the zone. We're back.
David Nuno
Final segment of the go hour. But OB said because I'm going on vacay, I'm going extended.
OB
Sure, sure.
David Nuno
Can I.
OB
Can I extend my vacay? But no, I'm. David said, can you hang around another segment? I'm like, let's do it. Whatever it takes, man. I'm a team player.
David Nuno
Okay, well, if that's the case, why don't we zoom your entire vacation?
OB
Let's go.
David Nuno
I'm kidding. What are we banking on? Presented by Vera bank, by the way.
OB
Still not much going on, right?
Unidentified Male (possibly a caller or guest)
No.
OB
So here's what I'm bank. Banking on. I'm banking on when he hopefully a long time ago he. Tommy Moffat.
David Nuno
Oh, okay.
OB
I'm banking on when hopefully a long time from now when he decides, you know what the strength and conditioning gig, it's run its course again. I'm banking on him opening a weight loss clinic.
David Nuno
Okay.
OB
Because I was seeing some of the. Yeah. So I'm like, hey, Tommy, can you help me out? Can you help me? I'm looking. What naboo lose like 30 pounds. You know, there's.
David Nuno
We have a whole graphic of everybody.
OB
I asked somebody, how could I lose 10 pounds of ugly fat? And they said, cut off your head OB. But anyway, did you see. Did you see all the. The, the guys whose. Whose weights. One guy raised his head.
David Nuno
I do have it right here. Give me a name.
OB
You want Wilkin Formby.
David Nuno
Okay. I'm have to look for that.
OB
Well, then you give me the names that you don't have to give me names you want.
David Nuno
Wilcombe showed up at 324. He is now 320. Travon Ball showed up at 337. He's now 335. Mark Nabu was at 330, and he's now at 307.
OB
23 pounds. I could cut off two heads.
David Nuno
Damian Sanford, 228, was at 230. Okay, cool. Get my ass. Haxton Land. 225, now 214. Bravion Rogers, 188, 186. I'm reading bad ones.
OB
Some guys have actually increased their weight because they probably got stronger, you know? I know. You know, this muscle weighs more than fat. Yeah.
Kaylee Dreyer
Six pounds.
OB
Who.
Kaylee Dreyer
K.K. johnson.
David Nuno
36.
OB
Gains. 36. Okay. Mario Craver gained some weight.
David Nuno
Yeah, he did.
OB
He gained, like, 15 pounds of muscle.
David Nuno
Muscle, bro.
OB
Keeping more durable for the. And keeping his speed at Moffat, man. I think. I think Tommy Moffat. I'm not gonna say he was the best hire that Mike Elko made, but he's high on the list. Cushing's up there, too.
David Nuno
Yeah. By the way, I really think he doesn't know it, but I think Tommy and I should be really good friends.
OB
I just need him to coach me, buddy. Hey, Olin, I'm gonna coach you. First of all, quit eating so damn much.
David Nuno
You know, there's Bizarro Superman. Yeah, Bizarro Moffat.
OB
I got you, bro.
David Nuno
I could help you lose. You want to lose 10, you can at least lose 2 on my plan.
OB
You know, maybe when I get back from vacation, because I don't know about you, I. I eat a little bit more liberally when I'm on vacation.
David Nuno
I do, too, but I. This is.
OB
This is what. Yeah, but liberally for Nuno is. I guess I'm gonna have. I'm gonna have Brussels sprouts instead of. Instead of broccoli, and they're gonna say, well, Brussels. Yeah, but I'm gonna let them put bacon on it. That's a. That's.
David Nuno
But you went to lunch with me in Tampa. All right. Because I think. Is that the only time we ate together? No, we ate together a couple times in Tampa. Right. We went to the Cuban place.
OB
Yeah.
David Nuno
I got cafe cuano. I had appetizers, and I had un. Sandwich guano.
OB
Your appetizer was a squid.
David Nuno
It was fried.
OB
Okay. I'll give you that.
David Nuno
Calamari.
OB
I'll give you that. I don't eat Squid.
David Nuno
I didn't have any sweets on the trip. That's.
OB
You're right.
David Nuno
Right. But. But I'm not. I'd rather go deeper into the protein, even if it's fried, than the hash. Shrimp.
OB
When his kids have a birthday, they take a unbuttered yam and they put their candles in the yam.
David Nuno
We did that once. It was for Annalise's quinceanera, and that was it. That's the only time we've done the yam thing.
OB
Yeah. I am what I am.
David Nuno
Anyway, should we actually talk football in the last few minutes? Yeah, let's talk about. Let's go to Kaylee Dreyer.
OB
We were talking football about all the football players losing their way. Okay. Now let's go to dryers.
David Nuno
Ricky Gibson. Okay. I'm picking ones that aren't, like, massive. Let's see who else. You picked some. You have any for you? For us? Aaron Gregory. There we go. He gained 14 pounds of muscle, 177 to 191.
OB
How much do you weigh, Dryer? That's probably about 100.
Kaylee Dreyer
Not as much as these.
OB
Okay, I'll believe that.
Kaylee Dreyer
Brandon Davis Swain gained 17 pounds.
David Nuno
Holy smokes.
Kaylee Dreyer
But I do have a quick note from the YouTube chat. Someone said, I'm actually bullish on the O line. If you consider eight of our O linemen could start anywhere in the sec, we could make five of them perform at a high level together.
David Nuno
Hear, hear.
OB
Hear, hear.
David Nuno
I hope I heard it. My only concern is not about the talent. It's about the time it takes to be a cohesive unit. That's my only concern. I think we got the right coach. We got the right development plan. We got Tommy Moffat, we got Coach Elko. Like, I think we got talent. 4 and 5 stars all over the place. And people who are threes are now fours and fives because of the development. Not worried about the talent. I'm just worried because I know I have too much respect for that position to just say it's going to work out because it's going to work out.
OB
Sometimes, you know, there's something about cohesion. Let's see how fast it comes together.
David Nuno
But I think it will come together. I just don't want it to take. How long did it take Texas offensive line to come together last year, mid season? The beauty is this schedule isn't too crazy in the beginning. Right? Isn't that too crazy? The first six, seven games. The second half is very crazy.
OB
But I'm not going to take anybody for granted except no, no, no. I'll take Missouri State for granted. Oh, there's the schedule.
David Nuno
Yeah. I mean, it ain't easy. I'm not saying that. I'm just saying, like, hopefully you have enough time before that gauntlet that is November.
OB
Yes.
David Nuno
To have figured it out. That's my point.
OB
Okay.
David Nuno
All right. We'll. We'll do a little more. Okay. We'll go over time with OB. Actually, we can't call it that. We'll call it extended O.B.
OB
that'd be me. Pause.
David Nuno
We'll be back. It's Texas life.
OB
Best thing that's ever happened to you, financially.
David Nuno
Go easy.
Unidentified Male (possibly a caller or guest)
Sold my car on Carvana. Amazing offer, really.
OB
I hit 200 on a scratcher.
Unidentified Male (possibly a caller or guest)
Did the scratcher come to your house and hand you a check?
OB
No.
Unidentified Male (possibly a caller or guest)
How many scratchers did you hit to get that? I hit a button on Carvana.com once.
OB
Okay, that's fair.
Unidentified Male (possibly a caller or guest)
It's like the lottery, except you always win.
OB
Not like the lottery at all, actually.
Unidentified Male (possibly a caller or guest)
Exactly. Inexplicably good offers worth bragging about. Sell your car today on Carvana. Pickup fees may apply.
