It feels so strange being here again, you know? Sitting in this same garden. Looking at the same old walls, the same sofa, even the same smell. It's like nothing changed. But at the same time, everything feels different. Now, I was walking here and I started remembering so many things. Like when we were kids, running around, fighting for stupid things, laughing for no reason, and thinking life was simple. Do you remember how we used to stay up late watching TV, even when we knew that mom would get angry the next day? It was so funny. Those nights felt so big. Like we owned the world. Like nothing bad would ever happen to us.

Yeah, I remember. I remember almost everything. Sometimes more than I want to, actually. But yeah, those nights, they were good. We didn't have much, but it didn't feel like we were missing anything. We had each other and that was enough. You were always so full of energy. Always asking questions, always following me everywhere. Like I was some kind of hero or something. It was annoying sometimes. I won't lie. But also, it made me feel important. Like I had to be strong for both of us.

You were important. For me, you were everything. I mean, dad was not really around. And mom was always tired, uh always working, always stressed. But you were there. You helped me with homework. You walked me to school. You even made me food when mom couldn't. I didn't understand it back then, but now I see it. You were just a kid, too. And still, you acted like an adult. That's crazy when I think about it now.

I didn't have a choice, Lucas. Someone had to do it. And honestly, I didn't think about it too much. I just did what needed to be done. That's how things were in this house. You adapt or you break. And I didn't want you to feel what I felt growing up. So, I tried to protect you from that.

You did a good job. At least most of the time. I mean, I have good memories, really good ones. Like when you taught me to how to ride a bike, even though I kept falling again and again. And crying like a baby. Or when you defended me that time at school. When those older kids were making fun of me. I remember how scared I was. But when you showed up, everything changed. I felt safe again. I always felt safe when you were around.

That's all I wanted. For you to feel safe. That's why I used to do it.

Yeah. But not everything was like that.
