Welcome to A Year in the Bible with Daily Grace. This year, we want to spend a few minutes with you every day walking through our study, Christ in All of Scripture. Each week, we will dive deeply into two passages of Scripture, one from the Old Testament and one from the New, seeing how they connect and point to Jesus.
B
Whether you are doing the study yourself or just following along with us here, we are hopeful that through studying these passages each week, you will see how Christ is not only present throughout the entire biblical story, but the center of it.

Hey, friends. Welcome back to A Year of the Bible. My name is Beth and I'm here with my co host, Alexa.
B
Hey, everyone.
A
So this week we have looked at Ezekiel 34, 7, 16, and John 10, 11, 15, and we've learned how Jesus is the good shepherd who fulfills God's promise to shepherd his people. As we wrap up this week, we want to do so by discussing how we can practically apply all that we have learned from this week's passages. So, Alexa, how do you plan on applying what you learned?
B
Yeah, something that I've been meditating on is intimacy I have with Christ. I love what Jesus says in John 10:14. I know my own and my own know me. That is such a special picture of the intimate relationship that we have with Christ. That's not a surface level knowing, it's a deep knowing. And I think I often don't take seriously the intimate relationship that I have with Christ. I think I'm more prone to rely on the relationships I have with others over my relationship with Christ. And I think one area that I want to grow in that I think will help me take seriously my relationship with Christ is listening to Jesus's voice. Earlier in John 10, Jesus says that the sheep hear his voice. He calls them by name, and the sheep follow him because they know his voice. And so we see that intimate picture again as Jesus knows his people by name and his people recognize his voice because of the special relationship that they have with him. And while I love that, I feel like I'm prone to not listening to Jesus's voice as much as I should because of Jesus, I'm no longer wandering lost in my sin. But I do sometimes wander away from Jesus and seek after the things of this world, like comfort or security. So I want to pause more in my daily life and ask myself, what or who am I listening to now? What am I pursuing to give me satisfaction? And if the answer to both of those questions isn't Christ, I want to ask Jesus to help me reorient myself so that I am listening to his voice amidst all the other voices and following him alone. What about you, Beth?
A
Yeah, I love that and I think that I would agree. I also would like to listen to the voice of Christ over all the competing voices that there are out there. One way that I've sought out Jesus's voice in the past is through reading the Gospels. Specifically, a few years ago a friend of mine gave me a copy of Crossways Reader's Gospel Gospels, which is a book that just contains the four Gospels, but there are no verse numbers there. And so it kind of reads more like a normal book than your regular Bible would. But so every year or so I like to sit down with a copy of that collection of the Gospels and just read through them. And I find that seeing those familiar stories in a different format actually gives me fresh eyes and helps me to really lean into who Jesus is as a person. But you don't actually have to have a special copy of the Gospels to read through them like that. You can use a normal Bible or you can read them on your phone own. But I think that I am just going to take a few hours on a Saturday and read through the story of Jesus's life again all at once. And I think the more that you read the actual words that he spoke when he was walking here on earth, the easier it is to hear his voice and what he has to say over all of those other voices that are competing for our attention. So that is all that we have for today. But before we close out like usual, we are going to take a moment and spend some time in prayer. So Alexa is going to share some prayer prompts that you can use to guide you as you speak with God right now.

Greetings Naturopathy Dr. Dennis Black here, founder of Rough Greens. And if only dogs could talk. I think a lot of them would say, hey, thanks for the love, but this food, it's not working for me. The truth is, they'd be right. Because most dog food, wet or dry, is cooked at such high temperatures that every live nutrient in it is destroyed. And what you're left with is dead food bulked up with fillers and sprayed with artificial flavors. That's not what dogs need. But when you add back in the live vitamins, omega oils and antioxidants are in Rough Greens, your dog would say something different. Like they'd say, wow, this is delicious. Or sluggish. Dogs might say, hey, let's go for a walk. Older dogs might say, I feel like a puppy again. It's not magic, it's biology. Don't just imagine it. See it in your dog. I'll send you a free Jumpstart trial bag for your dog. You just cover the shipping. Go to ruffgreens.com use discount code talk. That's Ruff Greens Discount code talk. If your dog could only talk, they'd say, thank you.

Hosts: Beth & Alexa
Theme: Christ as the Good Shepherd — Seeing Jesus in Ezekiel 34 and John 10
In this episode of A Year in the Bible with Daily Grace, hosts Beth and Alexa conclude a week focused on understanding Jesus as the Good Shepherd. Drawing from Ezekiel 34:7-16 in the Old Testament and John 10:11-15 in the New Testament, they reflect on the biblical connections that show Jesus fulfilling God's promise to shepherd His people. The conversation transitions from theological connection to practical, heartfelt application—how these truths about Jesus shape daily Christian living and relationship with Christ.
“I know my own and my own know me. That is such a special picture of the intimate relationship that we have with Christ.”
(Alexa, 01:04)
Alexa notes that recognizing and listening to Jesus’ voice is an intentional discipline, something she wants to prioritize.
“If the answer to both of those questions isn’t Christ, I want to ask Jesus to help me reorient myself so that I am listening to his voice amidst all the other voices and following him alone.”
(Alexa, 02:21)
Beth agrees and builds on the thought by sharing a practical habit for focusing on Christ’s voice:
“One way that I've sought out Jesus's voice in the past is through reading the Gospels... seeing those familiar stories in a different format actually gives me fresh eyes and helps me to really lean into who Jesus is as a person.”
(Beth, 02:44)
Beth suggests that reading the Gospels in a continuous format, even without a special book, can help listeners become more attuned to Jesus’ words and character:
“I think the more that you read the actual words that he spoke when he was walking here on earth, the easier it is to hear his voice and what he has to say over all of those other voices that are competing for our attention.”
(Beth, 03:35)
Alexa offers these prompts to shape listeners’ prayer time:
The discussion is warm, genuine, and reflective—inviting listeners into a thoughtful consideration of Scripture not as abstract theology but as transformative relationship. The hosts are honest about their own struggles and growth, modeling a humble approach to spiritual practice.
In summary:
This episode gently guides listeners to recognize Jesus as the fulfillment of the Shepherd promise, emphasizes the joy and challenge of cultivating an intimate relationship with Christ, and offers practical steps—rooted in Scripture and prayer—for tuning in to His voice amid the world's clamor.
