Welcome to A Year in the Bible with Daily Grace. This year we want to spend a few minutes with you every day walking through our study Christ in All of Scripture. Each week we will dive deeply into two passages of Scripture, one from the Old Testament and one from the new, seeing how they connect and point to Jesus.
B
Whether you are doing the study yourself or just following along with us here, we are hopeful that through studying these passages each week, you will see how Christ is not only present throughout the entire Biblical story, but but the center of it.

Hi friends. Welcome back to another week of A Year in the Bible. My name is Beth and I'm joined by my co host Alexa.
B
Hey everyone.
A
This week we are going to be studying Ruth 4, 14, 15 and John 10:10 and we're going to learn that Jesus is our Redeemer who gives us life in Him. Today we're just going to be discussing the annotation day for Ruth 4, 14, 15. And that passage says the women said to Naomi, blessed be the Lord who has not left you without a family Redeemer today. May his name become well known in Israel. He will renew your life and sustain you in your old age. Indeed, your daughter in law who loves you and is better to you than seven sons has given birth to him. So Alexa, how did this annotation day go for you?
B
It went really well. I'm super excited that we're talking about this passage in Scripture. I think the book of Ruth isn't studied as often as it should, but it just has so much in there to learn about. And this passage in Ruth 4, 14, 15 is super important in the overall story of scripture. So super excited to to look at this passage. We'll go over that tomorrow some more about how this passage in particular fits in the overall story of Scripture. But I thought I would first start by sharing about the attributes of God that I saw in this passage. I think the most explicit attributes of God are seen in verse 14 as the woman blessed the Lord for providing a family Redeemer for Naomi. I thought that God's good faithfulness and grace are seen there in the ways that God has provided that family Redeemer. I also noted lord in verse 14 which is used in Scripture to describe God being a covenantal God. I won't go too much into detail here, but what we see here in Ruth 4, 14, 15 has to do with God's covenantal blessings and promises. So I think the use of Lord also points us to his faithfulness there.
A
I love that. I think this story is such a great illustration of who God is, and I'm really excited to talk more about this as the week goes on. So what other takeaways did you have from doing your annotations?
B
Yeah, I thought I would talk about the prompt that asks us to underline the word life and then asks the question how does God sustain Ruth and Naomi's lives through Boaz's kindness? That question is probably best answered after reading some of the context of Ruth, which the second prompt suggest you to do. We'll explain more about this this week, but we see God sustain Ruth and Naomi's lives through Boaz's kindness by both providing a family redeemer and giving Ruth a son. It's in verse 15 that we see the language of Ruth having a child, as it says, has given birth to him. Like I said, we'll dive into the significance of a family redeemer and that child this week, but for now, that's where we see in the passage how God sustains Ruth and Naomi's lives through Boaz.
A
Yeah, there's so much to unpack tomorrow, so if you're confused now, just know that we're going to talk way more about this passage and what is going on in the story tomorrow. This has just been just a little teaser for you, so be sure to join us tomorrow when we go deeper into the context of the story of Ruth. Goodbye friends.
