Hey friends, welcome back to another episode of A Year in the Bible. My name is Alexa and I'm here with my co host Beth.
Host 1
Hey everyone. So so far this week we've been.
Beth
In the Old Testament and diving into 1st Samuel 2:1 10.
Host 1
But today we're going to turn to.
Beth
The New Testament and look at verses from Luke 1:46:55. And so this passage says and Mary said, my soul magnifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, because he has looked with favor on the humble condition of his servant, who is surely from now on all generations will call me blessed because the Mighty One has done great things for me and his name is holy. His mercy is from generation to generation on those who fear Him. He has done a mighty deed with his arm. He has scattered the proud because of the thoughts of their hearts. He has toppled the mighty from their thrones and exalted the lowly. He has satisfied the hungry with good things and sent the rich away empty. He has helped his servant Israel, remembering his mercy to Abraham and to his descendants forever, just as he spoke to our ancestors.
Host 1
So Alexa, how did this annotation day go?
Alexa
I loved it. This is such a powerful passage of Scripture and getting to see its connection with 1st Samuel 2:1 10 is just so fascinating. So to show how 1st Sabiel 2:1 10 connects with Luke 1:46 55, let me highlight some things that we see about God's character. We see God's favor or grace given to the lowly in verse 48 as Mary says, he has looked with favor on the humble condition of his servant. God's power is seen in verse 49 as Mary calls God the Mighty One. And in verse 51 Mary says that he has done a mighty deed with his arm. God's holiness is also declared in verse 49. And then we see God's mercy for the needy as he exalts the lowly, satisfies the hungry with good things, and sends the rich away empty.
Host 1
Yeah, connections like These make me so excited. Did you have any other takeaways?
Alexa
So to keep talking about God's character some more. I love how we see God's faithfulness to his people in this passage. In verse 48, Mary says that from now on all generations will call me blessed. In verse 50 she says his mercy is from generation to generation on those who fear him. And in verses 54 through 55 she says he has helped his servant Israel, remembering his mercy to Abraham and his descendants forever, just as he spoke to our ancestors. So through those words we see that God has not stopped being faithful and merciful to his people. And I don't want to go into interpretation too much, but it's worth noting that the mention of Abraham and Mary saying that people will call her blessed points us back to the covenant God made with Abraham, one that promised that the nations will be blessed from Abraham. So Mary is showing us here that God has been faithful to his covenant. How exactly? We will discuss more tomorrow.
Host 1
Yes, even more fun connections to be made tomorrow. I cannot wait. So be sure to join us then. We're going to be looking at how these passages point us to Christ.

Vape say flavors are why they do it.
A lot of the flavors that I've heard are like peach, mango, watermelon. It makes it seem like more childlike and innocent. Oh, if I try this once, it won't be that much of a problem. But then eventually it becomes a problem.
