Welcome to A Year in the Bible with daily grace. This year, we want to spend a few minutes with you every day walking through our study, Christ in All of Scripture. Each week, we will dive deeply into two passages of scripture, one from the Old Testament and one from the new, seeing how they connect and point to Jesus.
Host 2
Whether you are doing the study yourself or just following along with us here, we are hopeful that through studying these passages each week, you will see how Christ is not only present throughout the entire biblical story, but the center of it.
Alexa
Hey, everyone. Welcome back to Year in the Bible. My name is Alexa and I'm here with my co host for the week, Katie. Hey.
Katie
Hey.
Alexa
This week we looked at Psalm 8 and Hebrews 2, 5, 9 and learned that Jesus is worthy to receive glory and honor because he humbled himself to humanity and to the cross. Now we are ending our study of the passages that we looked at this week by talking about how we plan on applying what we learned from them. So, Katie, do you want to share how you want to apply these passages?
Katie
Yeah.

I love this week's reading. And I've been thinking back to mankind's failure to reign as God intended. All the times that I have neglected to water my houseplants, the times I raise my voice in frustration to my kiddos, or the times I fail to see someone in need, I. I do not reign in a way that God that honors God's privilege that he's giving me. And so praise be to God for Jesus. So he does not only reign perfectly in humility and without sin, but because he has given us the Holy Spirit, he has equipped us to care for what God has entrusted to us in the way that brings God glory. So Jesus has redeemed our lives and paved the way for us to follow into his footsteps. I know that I need him always. And so this reminder, this Holy Spirit guidance as we make decisions, I need conviction when I become frustrated with my kids. I need his leading to see those in need. And so this week's verses just brought so much humility to me and just a beautiful picture of Christ's humility that I hope to mimic in my own life.
Alexa
Yeah, I'm with you, Katie. It's an incredible thing that God gives us dominion over his creation. But man, do I fail to do that well. Which is why I love the prompt in the study day today that asks us, how can you better steward your life for his glory today? So stewardship is how we go about exercising the dominion God has given us as believers. Katie, you said you neglect to water house plants, which made me laugh because I do the exact same thing. But even though there's some humor to that, I I do genuinely want to steward God's creation well, which, you know, involves plants but isn't limited to it. I think practically for me that stewardship looks like two things. The first is stewarding my time and being aware if what I'm doing with my time is actually honoring to the Lord. And then the second is stewardship of my resources. I just really want to be open handed with what I have and to be intentional about using what I have to be a blessing to others. And that connects to what you said about humility, right? It takes humility to not use my time and my resources in a way that's just for me. So I'm really glad that Jesus empowers me through the Spirit to steward my life for God's glory. So we are going to transition to a time of prayer now, so just take a moment after Katie reads each prompt to pray to the Lord.

Praise God for the glory and honor he has bestowed upon you for being created in his image. Ask God to reveal the ways that you are neglecting to honor him and the responsibilities he's given you to steward. Thank God for the gift of Jesus, who reigns perfectly and sets an example of humility for us to follow.
Katie
Foreign.

A Year in the Bible with Daily Grace
Episode: Season 4, Week 29, Day 5: Applying Psalm 8:1-9 & Hebrews 2:5-9
Release Date: July 18, 2025
In this episode of A Year in the Bible with Daily Grace, hosted by Alexa and Katie from The Daily Grace Co., listeners are guided through the application of two profound Scripture passages: Psalm 8:1-9 and Hebrews 2:5-9. This session marks the culmination of the weekly study, emphasizing how Jesus embodies humility and is deserving of all glory and honor.
Alexa opens the discussion by highlighting the week's focus:
Alexa [00:37]: "This week we looked at Psalm 8 and Hebrews 2:5-9 and learned that Jesus is worthy to receive glory and honor because he humbled himself to humanity and to the cross."
The hosts aim to transition theoretical insights into practical applications, helping listeners embody the humility exemplified by Christ in their daily lives.
Katie delves deep into the thematic essence of the passages, reflecting on human shortcomings versus Christ's perfect humility:
Katie [00:58]: "I do not reign in a way that honors God's privilege that he's giving me... Praise be to God for Jesus. So he does not only reign perfectly in humility and without sin, but because he has given us the Holy Spirit, he has equipped us to care for what God has entrusted to us in the way that brings God glory."
Katie emphasizes that while humans often falter in their roles as stewards, Jesus serves as the perfect model of humility and rightful dominion.
Alexa reinforces this by connecting the study to practical stewardship:
Alexa [02:05]: "The prompt in the study today asks us, how can you better steward your life for his glory today... Stewardship is how we go about exercising the dominion God has given us as believers."
She outlines stewardship as not merely environmental care but extending to the management of time and resources in ways that honor God.
Both hosts discuss the balance between recognizing personal failings and relying on divine empowerment to improve:
Katie [00:58]: "I know that I need him always. And so this reminder, this Holy Spirit guidance as we make decisions, I need conviction when I become frustrated with my kids... These verses just brought so much humility to me and just a beautiful picture of Christ's humility that I hope to mimic in my own life."
Alexa [02:05]: "Stewarding my time and being aware if what I'm doing with my time is actually honoring to the Lord... stewardship of my resources. I just really want to be open-handed with what I have and to be intentional about using what I have to be a blessing to others."
The conversation underscores the importance of aligning daily actions with divine intent, encouraging listeners to reflect on their stewardship responsibilities.
The hosts encourage introspection and personal growth through guided prayer prompts:
Guest 1 [03:25]:
- "Praise God for the glory and honor he has bestowed upon you for being created in his image."
- "Ask God to reveal the ways that you are neglecting to honor him and the responsibilities he's given you to steward."
- "Thank God for the gift of Jesus, who reigns perfectly and sets an example of humility for us to follow."
These prompts are designed to help listeners identify areas for improvement and seek divine assistance in embodying Christ-like humility.
Alexa and Katie conclude the episode by reiterating their commitment to guiding listeners through the Scriptures, helping them see Christ's presence in every passage:
Alexa [04:20]: "Thanks so much for joining us this week, and thanks to Katie as well for joining us. And we hope you join us next week for another week of diving into Christ and all Scripture."
They invite listeners to continue their journey of faith and stewardship, equipped by the insights gained from Psalm 8 and Hebrews 2.
This episode of A Year in the Bible with Daily Grace offers a meaningful exploration of humility and stewardship, grounded in Scripture. By connecting ancient texts to contemporary life, Alexa and Katie provide practical pathways for listeners to honor God through their daily actions, embodying the humility and grace exemplified by Jesus.
