Welcome to A Year in the Bible with daily grace. This year we want to spend a few minutes with you every day walking through our study Christ in All of Scripture. Each week we will dive deeply into two passages of scripture, one from the Old Testament and one from the new, seeing how they connect and point to Jesus. Whether you are doing the study yourself or just following along with us here, we are hopeful that through studying these passages each week, you will see how Christ is not only present throughout the entire biblical story, but the center of it. Hey, friends, welcome back to A Year in the Bible. I'm Alexa and I'm joined by my co host for this week, Antonisha.
Antonisha
Hey.
Alexa
This week we studied Psalm 110:1 and Matthew 22, 41, 46. And we learned that Jesus is the Lord who reigns and rules at the right hand of God. So now we want to apply what we learn to our everyday lives. So that is what we're going to discuss today. Antonisha, can you share with us how you plan on applying this passage?
Antonisha
Yeah. So this week I really marveled at the King of Heaven who chose to humble himself to dwell among us here on earth. Seeing as he has all rule, reign and power. He could have chose to do whatever he wanted. He could have chose to sit on high and look on us sinners with indifference or disgust. But he didn't do that. He used his authority to enter our world and to defeat sin on our behalf.
Alexa
That's so good, Antonisha. I love what you said, that Jesus could have just looked at us with indifference and disgust, but that's not who he is. Jesus loves us and has compassion for us even though we're sinners. And he loves us so much that he chose to leave his heavenly throne temporarily to not only be with us, but to save us from sin. And that not only personally encourages me, but it challenges me to share that truth with other people. You know, we talked this week about how Psalm 110:1 shows us that Jesus will make his enemies his footstool. And if we read the rest of Psalm 110, the language is kind of intense as it talks, talks about both victory and also judgment and defeat. And there is hope for us in that as followers of Jesus because we know that the evil in this world will one day be permanently done with. But at the same time, we know that there are people who don't follow Jesus and and they do face his judgment. So I think rather than just treasuring the truth, that Jesus has delivered me and will one day deliver all things from sin. I also want that truth to compel me to share the gospel with others so that they too can experience Christ's deliverance and come under his eternal rule and reign. We're going to enter into a time of prayer now, so after Antonisha reads each prompt, take a moment to respond in prayer to the Lord.
Antonisha
Take a moment to thank God for sending Jesus, the king who left his earthly throne so that he could save us. Thank God that Jesus is a good king, that he can be trusted, that he is an advocate and intercessor for us. Ask God to fill your heart with hope and anticipation for the day Jesus returns to defeat evil and sin.

A Year in the Bible with Daily Grace: Season 4, Week 31 Day 5 Summary
Episode Title: Applying Psalm 110:1 & Matthew 22:41-46
Release Date: August 1, 2025
Hosts: Alexa and Antonisha
Podcast Series: Christ in All of Scripture
In Season 4 of A Year in the Bible with Daily Grace, hosts Alexa and Antonisha guide listeners through the "Christ in All of Scripture" study. This week’s focus centers on Psalm 110:1 from the Old Testament and Matthew 22:41-46 from the New Testament, exploring their profound connections and how they collectively illuminate the identity and mission of Jesus Christ.
Psalm 110:1 serves as a pivotal passage, highlighting Jesus as the reigning Lord seated at God's right hand. Matthew 22:41-46 complements this by delving into Jesus' identity and His relationship with God, reinforcing His authority and divine nature.
Key Insight:
The integration of these passages underscores that Jesus is not only present throughout the biblical narrative but is also the central figure orchestrating the redemption story.
At 00:57, Antonisha shares her profound admiration for Jesus Christ's humility:
“The King of Heaven who chose to humble himself to dwell among us here on earth. Seeing as he has all rule, reign and power... he used his authority to enter our world and to defeat sin on our behalf.”
– Antonisha (00:57)
Antonisha emphasizes the intentional choice Jesus made to leave His heavenly throne despite possessing ultimate authority. This act of humility and sacrificial love is a cornerstone for believers, illustrating that Jesus is deeply invested in humanity's salvation.
Responding at 01:21, Alexa expands on Antonisha's reflection, highlighting Jesus' compassionate nature:
“Jesus could have just looked at us with indifference and disgust, but that's not who he is. Jesus loves us and has compassion for us even though we're sinners.”
– Alexa (01:21)
Alexa connects this love to the broader narrative of Psalm 110:1, which speaks of Jesus making His enemies His footstool. She explains that the Psalm conveys both victory and judgment, offering hope that evil will ultimately be vanquished. This duality serves as a motivation for believers to cherish Jesus' deliverance and to actively share the Gospel, ensuring others too can experience His redemption and eternal reign.
Key Points:
Alexa articulates a personal challenge inspired by the scriptures:
“I also want that truth to compel me to share the gospel with others so that they too can experience Christ's deliverance and come under his eternal rule and reign.”
– Alexa (01:21)
This statement encapsulates the call to action for believers—to actively participate in spreading the message of Jesus' triumph over sin and His sovereign rule, ensuring others have the opportunity to embrace this transformative truth.
The episode transitions into a period of prayer, guided by prompts from Antonisha at 02:39:
“Take a moment to thank God for sending Jesus, the king who left his earthly throne so that he could save us. Thank God that Jesus is a good king, that he can be trusted, that he is an advocate and intercessor for us. Ask God to fill your heart with hope and anticipation for the day Jesus returns to defeat evil and sin.”
– Antonisha (02:39)
Listeners are encouraged to engage deeply with these prayers, fostering a personal connection with Jesus' kingship and the hope it brings.
In this episode, Alexa and Antonisha effectively bridge Old and New Testament teachings, illustrating Jesus' central role in the Bible's redemptive story. By applying Psalm 110:1 and Matthew 22:41-46 to everyday life, they inspire listeners to both appreciate Jesus' sacrificial love and feel compelled to share His message of salvation.
