Welcome to A year in the Bible with daily grace. This year we want to spend a few minutes with you every day walking through our study, Christ in all of Scripture. Each week we will dive deeply into two passages of scripture, one from the Old Testament and one from the new, seeing how they connect and point to Jesus.
Producer
Whether you are doing the study yourself or just following along with us here, we are hopeful that through studying these passages each week, you will see how Christ is not only present throughout the entire biblical story, but but the center of it.

Host for the week.
Alexa
Hey Antonisha.
Antonisha
Hey Alexa. Hey everybody. It's good to be back with you guys this week.
Producer
Yes.
Alexa
I'm so glad that you are here. And this week we are studying Psalm 110:4 and Hebrews 7, 11, 17. And we're going to learn together that Jesus is our true and better high priest. And today we are going to start by discussing the annotation day on Psalm 110:4. So Antonisha, can you read that for us?
Antonisha
Sure. It says the Lord has sworn an oath and will not take it back. You are a priest forever according to the pattern of Melchizedek. How did this annotation day go for you?
Alexa
Yeah, overall it was good. We've talked about this before on the podcast, but having a short passage can be nice when it comes to annotating, but it can also be a challenge since there isn't all that much to look at. And so looking for any words or phrases that point to Christ was a bit challenging because I'm actually already familiar with the passage that we're going to look at later this week, Hebrews 7, 11, 17. But just trying to look at this verse without thinking about Hebrews 7, 11, 17, I underlined the words priests forever. And we'll go into this a lot more this week. But one of Jesus's roles that we see in scripture is that of priests. And we also know from scripture that Jesus is eternal. So he has always existed and he will always exist. And so this passage points us to that truth that Jesus is an eternal priest.
Antonisha
Yeah. So if you're already familiar with the text or you kind of already know what's coming, it can be kind of difficult to be objective when you're looking at just one verse that's connected to so many other verses and themes. So I definitely think that focusing on the priesthood like you did is a great start for this week though. Were there any other notes that you made?
Alexa
Yeah, I thought that the prompt that asked us to note any references to God's actions in this verse was interesting. We see in verse four that God has sworn an oath and will not take it back. So God is making a solemn oath or a promise in this passage. And then looking at the second prompt for this week, which is to know any attributes of God seen in the text, I think that we can see that God is faithful. Faithful God is a faithful God because He always keeps his promises. So here we see God making a promise, a promise that he is going to not take back.
Antonisha
Yeah, I like how you pointed that out. I think often we think of God's faithfulness as promises to us specifically, but this verse highlights a promise that God has made to someone else and is still a great reminder for us that he always keeps His Word. Friends, Alexa and I are looking forward to studying with you the rest of the week, so join us back here tomorrow as we continue to explore Psalm 122, 10, 4 and Hebrews 7, 11, 17.
